pb n jj help what’s going on with woozi, mingi, and soobin 😭😭 i hate twitter with a passion so i’m a little lost
AH OK SO . i’ll put it utc 👍 i hope i explain it ok ☠️ i didnt really keep up with what was happening with mingi but im p sure his issue got cleared up pretty quickly and i didn’t see too much hate towards him
basically they [sb, wz] were getting flamed because people noticed an anime they’d mentioned watching called made in abyss. it (quoting from google) “follows the story of an orphaned girl named riko, who finds and befriends a part-robot boy named reg, and descends with him into the titular "abyss" that leads deep into the earth, in hopes of exploring it and finding her mother.” and i think was actually pretty popular when it came out because people really liked the world building & the plot, but there was also some darker elements to it (gore, and some weird fetishy shit related to the child mcs) that people found strange. that and the fact that apparently the mangaka is kind of a freak irl was enough for people to start calling them out for reading something that i saw some people call ‘child torture fetish porn.’
personal thoughts here for a sec - i get wanting to hold your idols accountable for talking about things you think are a bit sketch (especially to a large audience such as when you’re on a livestream), but also i think some people were taking it a bit too far? going to the lengths of using a term as weighty as ‘pedo’ was something i don’t think should’ve ever came into the conversation [when being used to refer to sb, wz, & other idols who were dragged into it]. the calls to kick them out of their respective groups were also a little weird to me (with wz especially like 😭 that is one of svt’s actual backbones please be serious. plus they were never going to get kicked out because people on twitter wanted them to anyway) but . Yeah .
anw. woozi’s was cleared up because he only mentioned mia once on a stream as one in a list of animes that he’d started but hadn’t had the time to continue because of. tours? concerts? one of the two. he didn’t speak any more about it than that. with soobin, while he did specifically talk about mia on a weverse live, he did also say that he wouldn’t recommend it because of the provocative themes in the show. those things (plus if you take into account what heavy censorship it would’ve gone through before it would’ve even been thought about being broadcasted on south korean tv) stopped a lot of the hate coming towards them and i think things have (mostly) blown over now 👍 my tl is mostly ab the news ab seunghan.
i think thats it??? things were pretty bad with sb but oh my god TAEYONG?? sol i was in the trenches . hope this kind of explained tbings for u bsf 😓

Chinese Z-10 attack helicopter enters Taiwan's ADIZ for the first time
Taiwan lives under the constant threat of invasion by China, which sees the self-governing democratic island as part of its territory to be brought to its government by force, if necessary.

In addition to the tensions in the Taiwan Strait, for the first time a Chinese Z-10 attack helicopter invaded the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
The helicopter, which is also called the WZ-10, crossed the so-called "median line", an informal border that runs through the center of the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, Radio Taiwan International reported. This also marked the seventh day of invasions in ADIZ this month.
The Z-10 was accompanied by two KA-28 ASW helicopters, but it is not clear whether the missions were coordinated. Taiwan responded by sending aircraft, transmitting radio alerts and deploying air defense missile systems to track it.

This is the first time that a helicopter crosses the midline, an informal border that crosses the center of the Taiwan Strait, according to the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense. The island and China do not officially agree with the "median line". However, the ADIZ declared by Taiwan covers not only the entire Strait, but also parts of mainland China.
Meanwhile, a report by The Drive said that the appearance of the attack helicopter operated by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) highlights the growing importance of rotating winged forces around the Taiwan Strait. China has also strategically positioned a helicopter base in the region, which analysts claim to be to support future operations in the Strait or even a potential invasion of Taiwan.
The last time a PLA aircraft crossed the "median line" was in September 2020. At that time, J-16, J-10 and J-11 fighter jets invaded Taiwanese territory during a visit by U.S. Undersecretary of State Keith Krach to Taiwan.

Interestingly, the flight of the attack helicopter coincided with the "routine passage" of the guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal through the Taiwan Strait. China responded to traffic, claiming that it monitored and alerted the ship. The traffic happened shortly after China held military exercises in the area.
"The U.S. often stages such dramas and causes problems, sending wrong signals to Taiwan's independence forces and deliberately intensifying tensions in the Taiwan Strait," the statement issued by PLA's Eastern Theater Command was quoted by Reuters.
The region has been boiling in recent days, when China announced that it was intensifying "realistic combat" exercises in the East China Sea. In addition to the exercises carried out by the aircraft carrier Liaoning and six accompanying warships, which would be conducting military training with fighters and helicopters in the Western Pacific Ocean.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Legislature is trying again to force presidential candidates to publicly disclose their tax returns, hoping a new Democratic governor known for his clashes with President Donald Trump won’t block them this time.
The state Senate voted 27-10 on Thursday to require anyone appearing on the state’s presidential primary ballot to publicly release five years’ worth of income tax returns. The proposal is in response to Trump, who bucked 40 years of tradition by refusing to release his tax returns prior to his election in 2016.
California’s presidential primary is scheduled for March 3. If the bill becomes law, Trump could not appear on the state’s primary ballot without filing his tax returns with the California secretary of state.
“We believe that President Trump, if he truly doesn’t have anything to hide, should step up and release his tax returns,” said Sen. Mike McGuire, a Democrat from Healdsburg and the co-author of the bill along with Sen. Scott Wiener, a San Francisco Democrat.

THE SEUNGKWAN THEORY: (cr. nicole in the gc)
seungkwan fakes his own disappearance so he’s free to work, and places suspicion on wonwoo, who he knows Seungcheol has beef with (source). that done, he snatches chan, who he knows seungcheol is close with (and we know this bc they were in the same group together and it’s reasonable to assume that they grouped with people they don’t hate) (source). he texted vernon with ‘don’t trust S’ (source) to sow more confusion and distrust. that done, the theory goes that if in part 5 wonwoo goes missing, seungcheol will be top suspect as he checks off a lot of the points (motivation to knock wonwoo off, chan vanished while alone with him, name starts with an S). (extended cr. Molly in the gc): if Jun and wonwoo had seen him it’s possible they were like “look it’s our missing friend! he looks like he’s in trouble. let’s go help him,” thus allowing him to knock off two at once.
Other theories:
whoever is behind it isn’t working alone, they have an accomplice among the group
This probably doesn’t relate to the au, but it’s cool: A reverse image search of the image from the first teaser pulls up this site which talks about a bunch of dead malls, and has some nice terminology (neither of the others have anything of real significance, although we might keep an eye on ‘boys be’ in the case of future cryptic notes, as it’s the photoshoot the second teaser comes from)
