Shout out to the people not doing Inktober, Flufftober, NaNoWriMo, etc. this year (or any year) for whatever reason.
Because they have prior work commitments (retail/service can be hell this time of year).
Because they’re too busy with school work or exam prep.
Because they’re dealing with chronic conditions and illnesses.
Because they have poor mental health and want to prioritise that.
Have other personal priorities and commitments.
Because they have no ideas or are between projects.
Because they don’t have energy.
Because they just don’t bloody well want to thank you very much.
You aren’t any less valid as an artist/writer/creator, and can’t/shouldn’t be pressured into doing anything you don’t want to do or made to feel bad about it.
This list is not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive, additions are welcomed.
P.S Not intended to be hate on anyone who does actually participate or enjoy these monthly challenges.

Jamie's Halloween Challenge 2023
It's almost time for Halloween and no one throws a Halloween party like Tony Stark. No expense is spared and anyone who is anyone makes an appearance at the Avengers compound for the event. Tony also loves surprises, and he has plenty for the guests at this year’s event.
You (or your OC) is there as an invited guest or maybe you work for Stark Industries. Your choice. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to write a sizzling Halloween story. It can be dark, scary, or just really sexy, but the goal is a smutty good Halloween read.
CHARACTERS: Reader insert or OC (your choice) x any of the established Avengers, their foes, or other important characters in the MCU. You can also select a character played by an MCU actor (i.e. Bucky Barnes or Nick Fowler, Charles Blackwood, etc.) Multiple partners are allowed. LGBTQ+ stories are welcome here.
PROMPTS: You must pick one and submit it with your character choices.
The Mysterious Neighbor: Your neighbor's house always seemed normal until Halloween night. You notice something strange and decide to investigate.
A Night in the Haunted House: I don’t know why you’re there when you’re supposed to be at the party. You tell me.
The Unusual Pumpkin Patch: One pumpkin in the local patch grows faster and looks different from the others. You take it home.
The Halloween Costume Comes to Life: Remember that episode of Buffy? You rented a costume and when you put it on, that’s who you are as long as you are wearing it.
Halloween Candy: Tony only buys the good stuff when it comes to Halloween candy. But be careful. There’s a reason there are no kids at this party. Some of the candies are a pretty potent aphrodisiac.
The Unexpected Visitor: On Halloween night, an unexpected visitor knocks at your door. It's not a trick-or-treater but something else.
The Disappearing Act: A drink at Tony’s party turns you (or your significant other) invisible for Halloween night. What do you do?
7 Minutes in… Where?: You know the game. Only when you and your significant other are locked in the closet for 7 minutes, you’re transported somewhere else.
The Frightening Feast: Tony has quite a spread at the party. Be careful. Each dish has magical properties.
The Portal in the Pumpkin: You carve one of the pumpkins Tony ordered, but this one turns out to be a portal to somewhere else...
RULES:
You must be 18 to write for this challenge and it must be legal to participate where you are.
While a smutty good story is the goal, no incest, underage characters, bestiality, or toilet kinks.
Dark stories are welcome. Bonus points if they’re scary.
Stories can be reader insert (preferable) but can be OC.
At some point in the story, your characters must attend Tony’s party, be planning to go to the party, or just come from the party. Bonus points if Tony makes an appearance, even if it’s brief.
You must send me an ask with your characters of choice and the prompt of your choice. `(Example: Steve Rogers x Reader and Halloween Candy)
Minimum word count is 1k words. The max length is up to you.
For this challenge, the fic must be brand new. No tie-ins to existing fics or series. No recycled stories.
Please add a “keep reading” function after 300 words and apply all needed warnings and labels to your fic.
You don’t have to follow me, just tag me in your posts and use the Hashtag #JamiesHalloween2023. If I don’t reblog your story within 3 days, please DM me.

Hi, lovelies! Welcome to my first writing challenge. First, I want to thank each and every one of you for following me, supporting my work, and cheering me on. I appreciate and love all of you. This is the first time I have ever hosted one of these, so bear with me and I hope you enjoy it! Anyone can participate as long as you're at least 18!

Superhero walked into the room. They stopped next to Sidekick and looked through the glass wall at Hero pacing back and forth.
"Any changes?" Superhero asked.
Sidekick sighed. "No. They're still talking to someone who isn't there. I went into the room to give them food and they attacked me again."
"What are they saying?" Superhero asked stepping forward.
Sidekick pressed a button and Hero's voice filled the room. "Get out of my head. No I'm not giving you control. Leave me alone."
"Who are they talking to?"
"I don't know." Sidekick said softly.
"Damn it Villain leave me alone." Hero yelled. "Get out of my head."
Hero froze. A smile slowly formed on their face. "Got you." They said slowly. They turned to face Superhero. "Hello Superhero. Thanks for giving me access to your dear Hero."
Superhero froze. "Let them go."
Hero shrugged. "No."
Superhero crossed their arms. "Then I guess you aren't leaving."
Hero smiled and walked to the door. "I beg to difer." They slammed their head against the wall and turned to Superhero. "Let me out or Hero's body will pay for it."

Still doing this thing (albeit WAAAAY behind). As soon as I stumbled on this video I knew he would have to be the star of today's entry.

Summary: Dean is excited to take Cas to the Harvest Festival, but is also looking forward to seeing his two favorite lady sheriffs and their wayward girls. But there's an adorable prickly surprise waiting for them there, as well.

“Hey, there they are!
Dean squeezes Cas’ hand and pulls him through the milling crowds who, like them, had turned out for the first day of the annual Autumn Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch. He assumes Sam and Eileen are following but doesn’t turn to find out. Keeping up — that’s all on them. He’s here for two things: pumpkin apple pie, and having a fun day with Cas.
Okay, three things: seeing his two favorite lady sheriffs (and the gaggle of girls — well, women, now — with them). “Donna! Jody!”
Donna turns and Dean stifles a laugh at the dusting of powdered sugar on her chin, the source being the large plate of fried dough in her hand. Mouth and hands full, she pops out an elbow and nudges Jody, who squawks as the cup of hot apple cider sloshes in her hand and just misses spilling. Donna nods in their direction and Jody beams as she spies them.
“Dean! Cas!” Passing the cider to Donna, she strides to meet them and wraps them both in a hug, the strength of her grip all but forcing the air from Dean’s lungs. She may be small, but she is mighty.
She glances over Dean’s shoulder and pulls back from the hug with a raised eyebrow. “What, no Sam or Eileen?”
“They arrived with us,” Cas explains, “but I believe Eileen saw something of interest in the craft vendor’s area and pulled him in that direction.”
Donna joins them, balancing the plate of dough on top of Jody’s cup to wipe the sugar from her face, then passes both to Jody to hug them both herself. “It’s good ta see ya, Dean-o. You too, Cas. It’s been too long since we’ve seen you fellas.” She pulls back, her smile wide and bright as the sun. “But no matter, you’re here now!”
“Oh my God, are you holding hands? Gross.” Dean can’t help the smile as Claire comes up behind them. She punches Dean in the shoulder and then shoves herselt between them, pulling Dean into a sideways hug; then sliding under Cas’ arm to wrap her arms fully around him. Dean’s heart clenches at the soft, startled look on Cas’ face as he returns the hug, brushing his lips against the top of her blonde head.
“Wow… Claire, showing affection like a functioning human being,” Alex says as she, Patience, and Kaia join the group. “Someone get a picture, quick.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kaia says, crossing her arms. “Claire has no problems hugging me.”
Patience snickers. “Yeah, there’s a reason for that.”
“Yeah, yeah, you can all shut the hell up now.” The effect would have been a lot different were Claire’s voice not muffled by Cas’s shoulder, releasing him to glare at them over her shoulder.
“Anyway,” Alex says, “we came over here to find out where Claire ran off to, but also…”
“Oh, right!” Claire grabs Cas’ hand and starts tugging him toward the pumpkin patch. “You guys absolutely need to come see this!”
“See what?” Dean says, just as Sam approaches and says “See what?” at the exact same time.
Dean’s eyes roll as Jody nudges Donna, laughing.
Patience glances between them, confused, but shakes it off. “The porcupine.”
“Excuse me, did you say ‘porcupine’?” Cas asks, taking the words right out of Dean’s mouth.
Claire nods excitedly and starts tugging his hand again. “Yes, a porcupine and he’s amazing.” With a shrug, Cas lets Claire pull him toward the pumpkin patch, grabbing Dean’s hand to pull him along with. Over his shoulder as he’s being pulled away, Dean sees the rest of the group following with bemused expressions that are probably reflecting his own.
It’s not too hard for Dean to guess where they’re headed — a group of people huddled at the far corner of the pumpkin patch around one of the bales of hay that had been set out as both seating and barrier for the large array of pumpkins available for sale.
And from that bale of hay came the most adorable noise Dean had ever heard — something between a whine and a growl mixed with munching noises.
“I think Teddy Bear found some pumpkins for Halloween,” a woman says as they approach, Dean peering over Cas’ shoulder to see a large porcupine sitting on the hay bale, a small black plastic cauldron filled with tiny pumpkins in front of him.
“What did you find, Ted?” the woman asks, and Dean swears he hears the porcupine say “Pumpkin!” in his little whine-growl.
Apparently he wasn’t hearing things. “Dean, did that porcupine just talk?” Cas turns to whisper and Dean quickly shrugs to both answer the question and shake off the shiver Cas’ breath on his ear raises. He’s not completely convinced yet — it’s a porcupine, not Scooby Doo, after all.
Talking or not, Claire was right, Teddy was completely adorable, chirping and munching away on his pumpkins. Not that Dean was ever going to admit it out loud, though.
“Yum yum?” The woman asks, and Teddy says “YEAH!”
“Dean,” Cas whispers urgently in his ear, causing a fresh bout of shivers with accompanying goosepimples. “He’s definitely talking.” Cas squints suspiciously and its adorable. “Is he possessed, do you think?”
Dean’s laugh bubbles out of his chest, and he pulls his hand out of Cas’ grip to wrap an arm over his shoulders and pull him close. Claire glances back at them and her eyes all but roll out of her head, whether the open cuddling going on or at Cas wanting to smite a porcupine, Dean can’t guess.
Just to spite her (and Cas is right there, after all), Dean brushes a kiss against his temple and grins inwardly at the quickly-masked soft smile on Claire’s face as she quickly turns back to watch the porcupine.
The spiky little guy continues to munch on his pumpkins, chattering away as Dean glances around him, at the friends and family gathered around him. The love of his life in his arms, his brother by his side wrapped in the arms of his own love. Donna and Jody arm in arm with their girls wrapped around them as well.
A warm, happy feeling floods through him and he savors it, as much as Teddy Bear the Porcupine savors his pumpkin treat.

WIP WEDNESDAY
Got tagged by the lovely @afterdarkprincess (thanks so much, love 💙) and actually have something to share this time around.
Seeing Samijey happy and thriving naturally made me write angst. It’s basically a story to explain away the weeks of no interactions.
Not sure I’ll finish it, we’ll see. It’s angst though. Read at your own risk.

The fight had been stupid from the very beginning - born out of ever-present insecurity that turned into harsh words hurled at the wrong person.
The one person he knew would always have his back given the choice - the one person who was rock solid.
“You have no idea what I’m going through!“
“Are you being for real, uce?“
When Sami looked away, purposely not meeting his eyes, he continued “Of all people I’m the one who knows exactly what you going through Sami! You think being under Roman’s thumb all this damn time didn’t leave me fucked in the head doubting myself? I doubt myself every day Sami! Every day!“
Sami still stubbornly avoided looking at him.
Deep down he already felt sorry for what he’d said to Jey just moments ago, but his mind was stuck, there was no way out. No way to resolve this reasonably before it exploded.
„You know what Sami? You keep doing you. Keep pushing people away. Watch where this shit will get you. I’m outta here.“
With that Jey gathered his things and pushed out of the locker room door, leaving Sami to wonder just how exactly he’d managed to fuck up this badly again.

Weeks passed. Weeks of suffering and longing and self-loathing and doubt.
When they saw each other backstage, a circumstance both tried to avoid as much as they physically could, hurt gazes were all they exchanged.
They were both being stubborn and they knew it, but neither was exactly sure how to make the first move. They were shit at dealing with their emotions, always had been.
Sami still couldn’t get out of his rut. And Jey deserved so much better than that. He deserved a much better man than Sami could possibly ever be.
Jey was insecure and fearful of what their next exchange might bring. That, but also, he thought, reasonably pissed off, still.
Their friends were left with nothing but confusion and rolling eyes at their antics.
Sami had successfully pushed every single one of them away despite their best attempts to talk some sense into him.
That was, until one day a very unexpected ally came along.
„Get your ass up right now, Sami! God this is pathetic. I wish you could see yourself right now. You’re pathetic, you know that!?“, a very ticked off Gable yelled at him seemingly out of nowhere.
He’d won the gauntlet match against the other man recently and he knew how much heartbreak that had caused him and his fans.
The crowd’s reactions to his win had added a whole new layer to his doubts and insecurities and he hated it.
That - and he had run into Jey backstage earlier and quickly fled the scene.
And now he was hiding in catering for the rest of the night like the big man he was.
Sami snorted at Gable’s harsh words.
And stayed put.
„I’m being serious Sami! You’re a fucking idiot! You could have it all. Win the fight and get the girl - well guy in your case. And what are you doing? Moping in fucking catering even though you can’t even fucking eat anything!“
It was true. With it being Ramadan, hiding in catering was probably the most pathetic move ever.
He knew Jey despised the food catering provided though, so it had seemed like the perfect spot to avoid any more run-ins with the man he loved.

A: “Hey! You won't believe what happened today!” *proceeds to explain said funny happening with great enthusiasm*
B: *tries to inform A that its the wrong number but fails so they wait for A to finish their story* *ends up laughing at A's story* “It's unfortunate that I'm not your friend. But thank you for this entertaining story. You've made my awful day a lot better.”
TWO
A: “Hey, it's me. Just calling to make sure you're okay.”
B: *feels happy that someone called to check up on them* *talks a bit but then realise its a complete stranger on the other end* *gets sad that it wasn't one of their friends or family* “Oh Sorry. I think you called a wrong number.”
A: “Ohh! I'm sorry. I thought I called my friend”
B: “It's fine. Thanks for talking anyways. Your friend is lucky to have someone like you.”
THREE
A: “Hey, I know you're not obligated to bear with my issues but I really need your company right now.”
B: *realizes its a wrong number but is kinda concerned about the person on line* “It's alright. I'll come. Where are you?”
FOUR
A: “So I..” *chuckles and is struggling to speak* “I kinda got stabbed—”
B: *has no idea who it is but is extremely concerned* “OH MY GOD! WHERE ARE YOU!?”
A: *realizes they dialed a wrong number* “You're not—”
B: “SHUT UP AND TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE!”
FIVE
A: “I'm coming for you.”
B: *thinks its one of those weird, scam calls and plays along* “Oh yeah? I'd like to see you try.”
A: “Mock me all you want.” *has already tracked B's cellphone and is on their way* “You're not getting away this time.”
B: *is slightly scared now* “W-wait..Who are y—”
*a car stops outside B's house*
A: *still on the phone* “I'm here. Won't you welcome me?”
B: *terrified* “No no no! I think you got the wrong person!”
