David Tennant being a lifelong Doctor Who fan who was inspired by the show to act, becoming the Doctor and Ncuti Gatwa who watched David Tennant and was inspired to act, playing the Doctor opposite David’s Doctor is the most beautiful thing

“why does the fandom portray Aziraphale as such an idiot when he is canonically intelligent”
today a colleague with an engineering phd had a wasp get in his car and drove around with his door open until it flew out and only realized like 10 minutes later he could have rolled down the windows, next question

i lose 80% of respect for a movie the moment a female protagonist wakes up in bed with artfully tousled hair and a full face of unsmudged makeup what is that mcfuckery

god . . . thinking about an arranged marriage with yakuza boss nanami kento . . . you do not want to marry such a stoic man, but what other choice do you have when your family is on the verge of bankruptcy? when your mother and father tell you that it is your duty, that they have never asked much of you, that it won’t be so bad.
and you think — hopelessly try to reassure yourself — that living with a man who won’t even glance your way is better than living with your parents and the monstrosity that looms in your supposed home. that you just have to be meek and quiet around your husband, something that isn’t even so hard. something you’ve been doing your whole life.
except you get tangled in him. in his gentle hands and soft words. in the way he is so protective and tender toward you. it is not love, but it is comfort. and doesn’t comfort eventually lead to love?

the discourse around like who is "allowed" at pride is so funny to me as someone in nyc where like, if you're in manhattan that day you are at pride whether you want to be or not

Disappointing that camila never got to meet bump onscreen
Luz' principal telling camila about how much of a trouble kid she is was the final straw for her to send luz to the camp, where she could've become "normal" by changing herself
It would've been a full circle if a principal told her how amazing her daughter is,unknowingly reassuring her that she is a fantastic mother who did what she could and it was enough

When I’m an old lady I’ll still be informing young people that Halloween never existed in this country until the 90s /early 00s when people who sell us stuff realised they could use it to sell us more stuff, and Halloween-themed stuff suddenly appeared in shopping centres without warning and was relentlessly marketed to children, and adults saw right through it and disliked it (“what’s this American sh*t, why are there pumpkins and witches in shop windows this never used to be a thing”) until they got used to it and young generations grew up thinking Halloween had always been a thing here even though kids born just a decade earlier had to be taught about it by the TV or school. Also it trampled over our pre-existing Fun Cultural Event When Kids Get Dressed-Up which had never needed to be marketed so aggressively and therefore became less relevant
I don’t mind at all if you love Halloween but it’s so weird to see my younger cousins convinced that it was always a thing in France when I remember being taught at school what trick or treating was, like “let’s learn about cultural traditions that are exotic and fun and different from ours!!” and I’m not old. Millennials literally saw Halloween get astroturfed into our culture with no explanation when shopping centres just went “from now on this is something we’ve always done” and we had no choice but to be like well OK I guess 🤷‍♀️
