Rewatched the s3 Christmas special and I can say for sure I’m glad they have since leaned away from the fairly jarring “Fanny is actually Really Into Mathematics” element, but the other obvious factors that have been present to her character (namely her attention to details) remains fun
I actually love that Fanny was Really Into Mathematics, though I will say I wish it carried over into like.. any other episode. But we do get to see more of her warmth in the episodes after that. Like her joining in to help Kitty in the Sorry Song, her petting Robin like a dog, compared to season 1 where the two openly disliked each other
I can't help but feel like we didn't get enough of Fanny (😏) in season 4 though? I mean she definitely got screentime, but in terms of like... doing things, idk, she felt oddly absent throughout except for episodes 1 and 7

living with a premed student is cool until they hear you cracking your neck and hit you with an unprompted anecdote about this guy who cracked his neck, had a bunch of tiny blood clots, had a stroke when the blood clots reached his brain, and died

True Love
I've always loved going to movies, but they're often too loud for me
Especially as a kid
I couldn't handle the mixing of sounds between the dialog and the backing track
So my mother would tuck a pair of earbuds into her purse whenever we'd go see a film
I'd always ask for them, but I'd never think to bring them myself
Earbuds can only do so much when it comes to stopping the chaotic noise of the newest marvel movie from infiltrating my ears
So when the movie would inevitably get too loud, I'd cover my ears with my hands
And my mother would do the same
Her hands over my hands over my ears
Earbuds still in place
When it got too bad, I'd curl myself into her chest
Practically my whole body resting ontop of her
My mother isnt a tall woman
She's just barely 5'1 on a good day
So I can imagine that watching a movie with a child more than half your size curled on your chest is a difficult task
Now as an adult, I bring my noise cancelling headphones everywhere I go
When the movies are too loud, I have them on and ready
It's been years since I last curled my body into a tight ball and pressed it into hers
Her hands over my hands over my ears
But out of the corner of my eye
I see my mother flinch
Hands cupped and ready
I don't think she even realizes it
I think that's what true love is
Not the act of covering someone's ears, but what it means
True love is your body, your soul, your whole being remembering what it means to love someone
True love is your instinct to love acting before the thought
True love is my mother reminding me to bring my headphones while still tucking a pair earbuds into her purse
