I expected this movie to be a campy, modern teenage rom but wow, its heavy.
And the setting of Grace and Claudia's isolation from the rest of the world takes away the "warm entertainment" that a lot of romance movies have...like external social factors like intruding love triangles and jealous admirers, subplots of other people, of other colorful themes and all, etc etc
But strangely, at the same time, it also feels comforting to think of two cottagecore sapphics away from the harsh of the world, living life together in a friendly forest 🏡🥹
And the amount of brightness and life Gracie managed to bring into that little depressing house Claud's mom left behind has me convinced other worldbuilding elements are not necessary at all for this story! 💞
Every act of affection and care Grace adourns Claudia with speaks volumes; only complementing their marvellous chemistry. Its like shes saying "Youre not alone. I love you. And I want you. You will not suffer alone." And its just 🥺🥺

But theres one thing that still bugs me 😢 Although Im super happy and grateful Claudia is rescued by Grace at the end, what about the cops?! Did Grace beat them to a pulp and run for her love 💀? Or are they still after them? Or did they let them off considering Grace is near enough the legal guardian age? Whatever it may be I hope Claudia wasn't taken away 😭😭
I could imagine so much of their sweet future together :((
Grace moving out of her abusive parents' home, being independant and pursuing her (fashion?✨️) dreams, and U-hauling in with Claudia in a nice suburban home, slowly introducing Claudia to the world in a dynamic way so she appreciates the kind and understands the harsh, sculpting her trauma-filled boundaries into softer edges.
And Grace falling in love with her all over again every step of Claud's healing journey....watching her metamorphosis from a beautiful bookworm into a writer or whatever literary pursuits she might have...... AAAA why isnt there any fanfiction of this movie?!

[1] Heartwarming scene that showed that you don't have to say anything to comfort the person. Cuddling and being with each other is more than enough🥺
[2&3] Favorite sequence in the movie.
Loved that Audrey agreed to hangout with Joanna even though she misunderstood some things in the locker room. "Dance Again" by Kite was playing in the background and it has become my favorite song <3

I seriously have no idea why Lesbian Tumblr hasn't exploded over this movie. Perfect adorable love story, it's a MUSICAL, no lesbians die, lots of genuine heart, and a happy ending. My ultimate feel-good movie. 🌈😍💕
