Prompt 9 - Eye and Floral

Life decided to throw me around for a bit the last couple of days. First my grandpa got sick and my mom and I thought he would die, but he pulled through in the end and is now as well as a guy well over 90 can be. Still, this scare was enough to nuke my immune system, which in turn lead to me getting sick with a normal cough. I deserve a break XD

Still, I worked on this one here and there and finished it tiny step by tiny step.

A curious question for the cool-cat mods of the official Rosegarden Week Tumblr...

Hi-hi to you @rosegardenweek

(I wanted to send my message to you guys on your blog but it ended up being too long so here I am XD I hope you don't mind this approach).

Anywhozzits, this squiggly rosegardener has a curious question but before I give it, I just wanted to start things off by saying that I saw your announcement for your new approach for this year's second RG Week and genuinely think... that it's NOT a bad idea.

On the contrary, I think it could be pretty interesting to see what comes out it from the creative part of the RG community. I've seen this being done for other creative events such as Inktober, Swordtober, Witchtember, and Scultoper (if you're into 3D stuff like yours truly) where creatives create and share their prompts, thus inviting the community to join in on their fun as well.

So it's neat that you've decided to give that a try for RG Week as well. Could be another interesting fun way to bring the community together, especially the creative side of it who might enjoy the challenge.

I'm excited to see what kind of prompts come out of this little experiment of yours.

Nothing wrong with trying something different from time to time, especially in the name of fun, right? I think it's a good thing to see you guys "mixing things up" this time as opposed to doing the usual.

While I understand that the norm is tradition, I also understand that sometimes the norm can become a bit too repetitive for some and I would be lying if I haven't noticed a few RG artists wanting to try their own prompts in the past.

So I think it's cool that you're opening the floor for those who have always wanted to do their own thing while STILL keeping it as a community based event.

Even if it's just an experiment, as an RG shipper, I give my approval and as always, my full support and I hope that you guys feel more inclined to try new things with RG week for the future.

Who knows? Perhaps an RG Month next time instead of a week? *wink**wink**nudge*

New things can be daunting at times but they can also be exciting if given a proper chance. Helps to keep things fresh, y'know what I mean?

This brings me to my question:

If someone who missed the whole "community involvement" of RG week wanted to devise their own prompt list but involve the RG community in their decision-making process, can they count on the support and even promotion of this blog with getting the word around?

Like for example, if RG artists from the community wanted to create their own prompts but still make it more fun by involving their friends/followers (non-RWBY fans or RG shippers included) and by extension, the whole RG community, if they were to tag the official RG Week tumblr or ask you guys for promotion, would that be okay?

Witchtember Day 30

This is from a daily drawing prompt list I repurposed for writing back in September 2022: Witchtember (by SimzArt)

Witchtember Day 30: Wild Card

Sindri reviewed his notes once more. Elaine. Artem. Victor. The names spiraled in his mind. Along with their abilities, uses, and faults. Of course, he had reviewed his own team’s standing as well. Repeatedly. And in depth. Rin. Charli. Killian.

But it didn’t matter.

Every thread he saw forward ended in the same spectacularly gruesome manner: failure.

They were well and truly frozen in the lake without a hatchet.

He tossed his pen to his desk and leaned back, sweeping a hand through his red curls. He stared up at the ceiling. And dismissed another three ideas as fruitless. He sighed out, shook his head, and rejected another two thoughts as overly complicated. He jotted down a string of disconnected words, then immediately struck the line out as he realized the blatant faults in it.

The problem, as he had realized several hours before, was him. He was their team leader. And he was brilliant.

And everyone knew that now.

He had done far too good a job at building his reputation. Even if these foreign idiots still didn’t recognize his true genius, they saw too much of a small sliver for him to really catch them off guard.

But what if…ah, yes.

A smile, sly and pleased with itself, crept across his face.

He was Sindri. Controlling, manipulative, conniving Sindri. People knew to expect him to be utterly in control at all times. It was the strategy that most employed against him – them – at this point: to wrench control from him.

So, the only response - really the most obvious choice now that he considered it - was to play a wild card. To use one of Charli’s Garaelish lines, “the final ace up his sleeve.”

Killian. If chaos was to ever inhabit human form, it would be Killian.

Sindri allowed himself what may be considered a somewhat melodramatic laugh. Then he rolled up his sleeves and got down to the serious business of utterly annihilating his enemies and everyone they had ever come in contact with.

Despite drawing witches for Inktober every year, and now, after Witchtember 2022, I think I'll be doing that drawing challenge yearly too, I still forget how to draw witch hats.
