there are so few of us left on this earth who know of a world pre-Bugs Bunny. even when viewing the entire filmography of Warner cartoons up until this point, on that fated 27th of July, 1940, much of the perception of that cartoon is dominated through a hindsight bias. how many times has the utterance of “what’s up, doc?” passed Bugs’ lips? how many carrots has he gone in a life time? how many times has Elmer Fudd begged us to be vewy, vewy, quiet? much of the modern appeal of this first “true” Bugs cartoon comes from knowing how many cartoons followed, repeated, obeyed, disobeyed, twisted, turned, subverted, and used the very foundation laid out by this cartoon.
even in 1940, this cartoon was billed by theaters as “one of the funniest cartoons ever made”. it wasn’t an example of warming perceptions towards a hidden gem buried for years and years—it isn’t a cartoon considered “good” purely because it‘s Bugs’—the real Bugs, not the hayseed rabbit prototype—first cartoon. it’s just a good cartoon. a great cartoon, even; Bugs Bunny would not be the cultural icon he is today without it.
as such, we explore his “firsts” today. where “what’s up, doc” came from. how Mel Blanc was able to record his lines with a mouthful of carrot. where the first vewy, vewy quiet comes from, where the first gloved pantomime bit comes from. all traits universally known and beloved by audiences nearly 83 years later, and it’s thanks to this cartoon that they do.

Vanitas and the Unversed Masterpost
So, you know how the Unversed are supposed to represent Vanitas' emotions? Well, I decided to try and figure out what emotion each type of Unversed represented. Unfortunately, I also want to put in pictures and explain my thought process behind each one, so I'm making a masterpost so I can just attach the links when I'm done with each post. I've also sort of linked some of them together since they're basically the same Unversed but with different coloring/facial features
One thing to keep in mind is that there are three different facial expressions: Angry, Laughing, and Crying. So I'll be making decisions for what emotion I think each one represents based partially on the expressions as well as just what I think they represent overall. This is all my personal opinion (except the Flood, that's canon). If you disagree, well, you don't have to take my headcanons as fact
Another thing to keep in mind is that I have literally never played any game with Vanitas in my life. I am working on KH1, but I have been obsessed with the lore for a while, so I know about Vanitas, but I've never actually fought him or the Unversed. So yeah, I am fully working off the wiki and my hyperfixations right now

It's almost like if Vanitas had a Nobody or smth. Idk, I'm not gonna count it. If you have problems with that, let me know

During puberty Kyle’s appetite spikes through the roof. For the majority of his middle/high school years he’s able to possibly out eat even Cartman. Cartman considers this ‘karma’ for Kyle constantly berating him for eating, but the difference is Kyle (mostly) eats healthier shit. But Cartman never ceases to pass up an opportunity to poke fun at Kyle for his newfound appetite and now very demanding stomach.
Idk. Karma can be fun lol-not that Kyle deserves it. That’s not what I’m saying. But in Cartman’s eyes this is karma.

it is funny to hear ppl say that gojo picked baseball of all sports for utahime’s sake in the goodwill event arc. as a baseball enthusiast myself, one of the first countries that comes to mind whenever I think about baseball, outside of my own and the US, is Japan. they won the wbc this year+ shohei ohtani is making waves in the mlb. they also have the second best baseball league in the world. anyone who’s ever played it also knows: baseball’s the easiest sport to get two groups of teenagers to play. it feels like the people, who make claims like this, are working their way backwards after already deciding gojohime is canon. baseball’s a natural choice for gojo to make

Meanwhile, this evening's pre-dinner snack from Südtirol. "...Crunchy Mousies"? :) (Why do I hear B. Kliban somewhere in the background?)
Schüttelbrot is a regional crispy mostly-rye flatbread. This is the easy-to-use cocktail biscuit version, flavored with fennel and caraway. @petermorwood's not wild about them, but I like them a lot. ...Anyway, also admiring the picture of the Fünffingerspitze, there (I guess) to remind you where the stuff comes from, should that detail have slipped your mind.
The lactose-"free" Philly, on the other hand, is a waste of time. The milk from which it's made still has lactose in it—though granted, only a very little—so they add lactase to compensate.
...I have to question whether the amount added is even vaguely therapeutic. Frankly, I'd sooner take my own lactase on top of regular cream cheese... which would also be cheaper.
