Bascially if you don’t know, Paimon’s had a lot of weirdly slightly out of character/insulting lines about the names of Sumeru characters/Aranara/and has insulted Sumeru food too. 💀 And she’s never said any of that about any other country that we’ve been to before, like it’s especially weird PAIMON of all people insulting FOOD.

It’s givingggg… racism. Or at least culturally offensive.

So anyway, these are all from memory or vague impressions of what she’s said, as I can’t find the exact voicelines!

“Ararana- what?! Goodness gracious, must all these names be so great in length and difficult to pronounce!”

“Your name is probably pretty shit for them to say too, Paimon, don’t worry.”

Literally can feel the jaw drops of the Aranara that was trying to introduce themselves, and Paimon herself as she sputters,

the blonde traveler has like, completely turned around to, y’know, cough (laugh their ass off)

Oh you never let that shit slide, much to the amusement (and honestly a little respect) from all of Sumeru residents

When Paimon struggles to pronounce names, you just immediately start sounding it out reallllyyy slowly, to the point of like- taking a couple of seconds for each syllable lmao

“Don’t worry Paimon, I’ll help you out since you’re brain is too little to understand words. Alllll- TTTTTTeeeeee- nnnnaaaahhhhh- rrrrrriiiiii-” (Al-Tighnari)

Tighnari was seconds away from launching a nuclear war of a comeback before you just did this again, and he just crossed his arms and smiled happily and waited on you too lmao

it drives Paimon up the wall (up in the air?) bc u refuse to be interrupted by her or stop sounding it out until she stops talking lol

(which took about 3-4 shitty comments from her, which almost ruined peoples’ first impression of you guys, before she stopped completely thank fuck)

She’d also been a little shit about the food??!!? Paimon??!!! Of all people??!?!?!?!

Which is honestly insane to you, and you genuinely thought something was wrong with her for a minute when she looked a little disgusted at the Pita Pockets

You guys had been eating with a couple of allogenes, Alhaitham, Kaveh, (who took some time off to hang out) Tighnari (who was visiting for the day), and Cyno, (who’d also made some time off to hang out with you)

Tighnari just continues to eat his food, and barely twitches an ear at Paimon’s comments, he already knows what’s coming lol

Kaveh starts to get a little red in the face, and Alhaitham and Cyno don’t change expression at all, simply watching

Right as Kaveh begins to say, “Listen here-!!!”

You just interrupt quickly, snatching Paimon’s plate from in front of her and dumping it on yours,

“Paimon if you ever make another disrespectful little comment about the food or anyone’s names or any other shit about Sumeru, I will clap you so fucking hard out the sky you’ll be crawling through Sumeru City trying to keep up with us. Shut up.”

And just drop the empty plate back in front of her, and continue to eat, best not to give her too much attention actually, in case thats all she wants

The traveler was just like 😭😭

Alhaitham just like, turns away to laugh into his fist, Kaveh’s still in literal shock, mouth open and everything 😭 that was the fastest comeback he’s ever heard, yknow obviously, so he’s like- still processing-

Cyno just smiles a little and his eyes are nearly sparkling as he watches you lol

It’s a unanimous thought that nearly every allogene who hears your speech, especially the Sumeru ones who’ve heard you sass Paimon already,

old wooden planks creak with each step childe takes.

he’d long lost the count of the days he’d spent in this peculiar inazuman domain— the mystic omnyou chamber, his companions called it. though what a fascinating domain it was, ever-changing and ever-puzzling but most of all, ever-deploying more enemies for him to fight his way through. he feels like only now he truly knows what teucer must’ve felt like in front of all those mr. cyclopses all those months ago.

he felt as though he was given a little too much breathing room by the motherland, still being stationed in liyue with you whoever knows how long his mission was finished, so it was no less than perfect to hear the news of scaramouche’s disappearance from inazuma after taking the gnosis for himself. as much as he disliked to have to leave you in northland bank with the promise of the two of returning together still at hand, he dully needed to take up on his responsibilities as one of her majesty’s harbingers.

still, he could fair by through the remembrance of you and his love for combat.

it’s amusing how freshly burned into his mind the memory of your time together at dottore’s lab was, even when he was half-conscious and at his physically weakest. how you soothed away his wounds with the cool breeze of your cryo powers, how you kept him company while he recovered, how you called him a pret-

“psst— you’re doing that thing again.”

“h-huh..?”

the harbinger is snapped from his daydreaming by paimon naggingly whispering to him. as childe finds himself back in reality, he registers the sight of the traveler, xinyan and shiki taishou walking ahead distractedly through the narrow dusty hallways of the domain, while paimon had fallen back alongside him.

“are you back now? ok good.” the travel guide snides, hands sassily placed at her hips.

childe chuckles sheepishly. “i-i’m sorry, paimon, but i’m not quite sure what you’re talking about.”

“oh, come on, it’s so obvious! the entire time we’ve been here, you’ve been doing this thing where you either doze off thinking about y/n! y’know as someone so passionate about fighting, you really need to get your head in the game right now.”

he feigns an offended scoff. “that is entirely untrue, comrade. my focus is solely on figuring out this domain’s mysteries and defeating its monsters.”

there’s a brief pause, where childe thoroughly reevaluates what paimon just said.

“wait, how did you know i was thinking about y/n? i-if i were dozing off and possibly thinking about them!”

she scoffs. “puh-lease, you’ve been babbling about them since we got here! almost everything you’ve said has somehow trailed off into y/n, so much so that even shiki taishou is caught up on what’s happened with you two!”

paimon was someone known to be a bit eccentric and overreactive at certain moments, but she also had her moments of being very bluntly honest in other situations. this was one of them. the harbinger deliberates for a moment, out of all the time he’s spent venturing this domain with the paper doll, just how much information had he unwillingly retained about you.

suddenly, a moment of clarity washes over childe and he vividly recalls all the moments during his venture in the domain where he’s talked about you. saying things such as ‘i wonder how y/n is doing right now…’, or ‘hah, y/n’s cryo attacks would demolish these enemies.’ or even ‘oh! that reminds of this one time, when y/n and i were kids…’. lest we mention the multiple times he’s said ‘i can’t wait to return to inazuma with y/n and show them this.’ whenever he’d been exploring the electro land’s scenic locations.

poor shiki taishou.

but then again, is it truly his fault that the mystic omnyou chamber had so many moments and details that were so clearly reminiscent of you? o-or maybe… maybe this was just a domain and everything reminded him of you regardless. but that’s the more unlikely possibility.

he curses scaramouche in his mind for a brief moment. it was all because he decided to go rogue that childe had to leave so abruptly— just when he’d made amends with you, just when the two of you were restoring your friendship. just when you’d started to flash him that devastating smile of yours again, instead of the standoffish snarl you’d presented during his mission in liyue. gods, he could feel his heart pang against his chest. surely it was just the adrenaline of battle, though. even if the group hadn’t faced enemies in more than ten minutes by now.

an even further tucked part of childe’s mind curses paimon next, for pointing out how much he speaks of you, because now he truly cannot stop. he looks ahead towards the end of the corridor and he can’t see what’s next, can’t see the next tatami matted arena where he’ll face a new wave of enemies, something he thinks he wants— no, all he sees is you.

it’s like your face is burned into his retinas, your fond laughter burned into brain and the warm feeling of when he slept against your shoulder burned into his skin.

childe doesn’t doesn’t fight as well as before in the next battle, he’s sloppy and distracted. after the arena is cleared, he’s left with a scratch across his bicep— which, thankfully, the domain grants a healing sigil to mend.

but it’ll never cure him like you do, never soothe the very core of his being like your powers do and it’ll never look at him the same way you did, caring and attentive.

he remembers how he felt lookup up at you then— like you were the stars in the night sky. he needed to get this mission over with as soon as possible.

you could almost hear your mother’s nagging tone telling you to not play with your food. as delicious as liyuean cuisine was, you’d lost your appetite halfway through your meal- as well as interest in the tale the restaurant’s storyteller was telling.

it’d been probably the dullest week you’ve had in a while, no new assignments from the motherland, no events happening in the city and… admittedly, no childe.

you can’t find the effort to lie to yourself and say it’s fine that he’s gone, that it’s for the tsaritsa’s noble cause— you don’t care about it. scaramouche could screw off with the gnosis and live his life, as far as you were concerned. in fact, you’d say he deserves it, given all he’s gone through with the doctor, even if he could be an astronomical asshole at times— well most of the times.

and now you can’t decide who to blame for childe’s absence, the balladeer or the tsaritsa. either way, it’s affected you more than you’d ever admit out loud. it’s been such a monotone week not just because of the distinct lack of anything to do in liyue lately, but also because of a distinct lack of… someone to worry about. yeah, that’s what it was, just an unusual sense of calm and nothing to stress over, that’s all—

“even in all my years, i’ve rarely seen someone stare at an unfinished bowl of dragon beard noodles with such intensity.”

a rumbling, baritone voice quips jokingly from across your small table and you’re startled away from your thoughts. looking up, the comment is revealed to come from mr. zhongli, the consultant from wanshe— oh, who were you kidding, the now former geo archon.

you hadn’t formerly spoken to him since the mission to take, well, his gnosis. after the situation with osial was diffusd, you beared witness to an unsettlingly diplomatic exchange between mr. zhongli and the fair lady, where he gave away the very culmination of his divinity like it was spare change. of course, you’ve spotted him countless times around the harbor— merely enjoy the little things the city had to offer. you can’t truly fault him for making the decision that he did, six thousand years is, unspokenly, too much time to not peruse the fruits of his labor from up close.

“a-ah, mr. zhongli! it’s been so long since we last spoke.” you scramble to politely greet zhongli and briefly wonder if you should stand up to bow to him, which he seems to notice.

“my apologies for startling you, doctor— may i?” he gestures to the seat in front of you and you nod.

“yes, it has been some time. i recall you being there for the completion of my contract with the fair lady, but the last time the two of us had the opportunity to meet casually was the very same night we first met.”

you nod curtly— you’re tense, you don’t know why. you know he’s not an archon anymore, you were there to see it, but perhaps the real weight of being in the presence of someone so powerful, not just an archon but the oldest of the original seven, seems to have only settled in now. you feel almost as choked as when in the presence of the tsaritsa, which you know all the same that you shouldn’t be. zhongli chuckles amusedly.

“i ask you to treat me as though you would’ve that night in liuli pavilion, like any other acquaintance. chatting with a mere consultant of a funeral parlor requires no formalities. now— have you been well, doctor?”

you can still only bring yourself to nod wordlessly in response, there’s no need for zhongli to know how royally miserable you’ve been lately.

“and.. may i ask why you held such a glare towards your meal? is it not your liking?”

“oh, no the noodles are just fine, amazing even! i was just… contemplating wether to finish it or not.”

“hm,” zhongli hums with playful suspicion. “while a reasonable topic of contemplation, it did very much seem as though you were rather staring through the bowl, as though there is something on your mind. i would not mind hearing what is it that vexes you, doctor— if you’re comfortable to share, of course.”

yeah there was no fooling a, again, six thousand year old divine being with a half-assed excuse like yours. you sigh.

“well— yes, you caught me. the last few days have been, uh… less than peachy for me.”

“what exactly is it troubles you these days?”

“i wouldn’t say it’s trouble but, there hasn’t been much to do at northland bank lately. and childe has been out on a mission for some time now— b-but it’s mainly the lack of assignments!” you stammer.

“is that so? i did hear of childe’s sudden departure for inazuma but it is curious that you’re being kept stationed here with essentially nothing to do. but, if i may— has childe been absent for as long as you’ve felt dull at work or would you say there is no relation?”

already at so few words out of sheer nervousness, zhongli managed still to render you completely and utterly speechless. what are you even supposed to respond to this?

“i-i uhm, i… alright, i won’t even try.” you sigh in defeat and zhongli looks coyly pleased. he patiently awaits for you to gather your thoughts and actually say more than two stammered sentences.

“i truly can’t tell what it is. i feel like i’m supposed to be worrying for him— as if he’ll get injured again or injure someone else o-or even worse, do something stupid but there’s just.. nothing! it’s like i’m so used to being aware of his presence and now there’s nothing and it’s- it’s frustrating.”

“you miss him.”

you pause. do you miss him? no, it can’t be so simple— you have a medical degree, it is most certainly improbable that you’ve been trying your brain over just missing childe. well, sure it was great that the two of you were starting to make amends and stopped being so on-edge around each other but… there’s no objective reason for you to miss him.

right?

“i would not say i even near the level of an expert on matters concerning relationships between people, but i’ve seen a lot in my time. enough to tell you with confidence that it’s most likely you just.. miss him, doctor. and that it is okay to feel this way. the two of you do not stand at odds anymore, you never have— it is reasonable for you to be affected by his absence.”

you furrow your eyebrows. “how do you know if… childe and i stand at odds, mr. zhongli.”

“well, i have witnessed it. both directly and indirectly— the tension and misunderstanding between the two of you during our meeting at liuli pavilion was quite evident and i’ve heard of how you opposed him in battle at the golden house. but that is all it has ever been, misunderstandings and disagreements, but you’ve never truly disliked each other.”

“h-how do you know-“

“he speaks quite highly of you, doctor.”

“wh-what?”

“childe has only ever spoken highly of you— i recall mentioning that had been looking forward to meeting you in person during our dinner, it is all because of how grand his description of you was. plus, during our eventual meetups, you’re mentioned at least once every time. and you, as we’ve discussed, do seem to hold some care towards him, to the extent that you first concern is his health.”

your heart aches and you hate it. it’s a terrible, void sensation that frustrates you to no end. why? why did childe have to make it so difficult for you? why can’t you ever feel simple feelings when it came to him? why couldn’t you ever just feel one way towards him with no smaller part of your brain saying something else? even worse, why couldn’t your brain ever think about anything else— literally anything, instead of just constantly orbiting around the mixed emotions you felt when it came to childe?

you just constantly, restlessly and unendingly seem to care about him.

“you know what, mr. zhongli, i think y—“

“ah, there you are, sergeant!”

a less familiar voice calls out from behind you and you turn around with a bit of surprise— it’s a man clad in fatui uniform, who you recognize as mikhail, one of the officers stationed at northland bank. he’s not exactly someone you interact much with, just a mere coworker you greet every other morning, so you’re perplexed as to why he’s seeking you outside the bank.

“mikhail, what is the occasion?” you ask, briefly eyeing zhongli to find that he remains with a neutral expression awaiting the exchange.

“i am deeply sorry for interrupting your lunch, sergeant, but ekaterina urged for me to find you as soon as i could. a letter has come in from lord dottore for you specifically— she says it is of utmost importance.”

the wharf is unusually crowded today.

an untimely flux of either tourists or returning immigrant citizens, perhaps it is an important time of year in another nation— although, childe could truly care less at the moment. he’s doing his best to politely push his way through the sea of people leaving their respective ships while almost unconsciously seeking you out within it. he knows you wouldn’t be here, as his return to liyue was unannounced, but his eyes fly to latch onto your likeness anyway.

childe ends up finding you right in the center of the harbor’s main street, practically right below the catwalks that lead to the bank. you’re slowly pacing back and forth, a piece of paper clutched in your hands and a vacant expression on your face— childe can’t find himself to clutch to those details right now, he just needs to get to your side. he makes large, determined steps towards you, big grin invading his features, and while he’s still approaching you, you spot him and your eyes widen even more. once childe is a mere two steps away from you, he stops.

“y/n! oh, it’s so good to see you!” he heaves out gladly.

“ajax—“ you reply in a quiet voice and his heart swells at the use of his real name. he truly can’t contain himself anymore and tackles you into a tight hug, one so strong that stumble back a bit.

his arms snake tightly from under your arms to above your shoulders and his head lowers from being against your own to reaching your shoulder blade— it is as close as he physically get to you, while trying to be respectful of your space, of course. you’re still in shock for maybe five seconds of the hug, but eventually you just let yourself slowly wrap around him and squeeze ever so slightly. both of you have your eyes closed to sink into the moment.

the hug is long, maybe twenty seconds so, and as childe becomes satisfied with its duration and pulls away, he remains with his hands to your elbows in a gentle hold. he sighs with said satisfaction and beams towards you.

“i have so much to tell you about inazuma! unfortunately, i couldn’t find scaramouche there but i managed to see so many beautiful places, so many amazing experie- wait.. what’s wrong?”

the harbinger pauses mid sentence when he notices the numbness in your expression and his bright grin falls into a concerned frown— you feel like the most terrible person for making him lose such excitement. your mouth opens and closes as you find what to say, but you eventually whisper it out.

“ajax, i-i… i have to go to sumeru.”

okay so im just gonna write down some of my aot headcanons in a modern setting bc like...im right. anyways:

eren and armin met on reddit

erens a reformed brony but it’s still a comfort show of his

armin defends furries (as he should)

he also got sasha and connie to go to furcon and at first he was nervous abt taking him because they thought that they would be mean about it but they ate that shit up, none of them are furries but they fuckin love them

Dialogue or description? Why is the other one so hard?

I was JUST talking to a friend about this! Do you have a preference for narrative versus summary styles? Is either more challenging than the other?

Thank youuuu 🥰🥰🥰🙇🏼‍♀️ & 🤝I agree they are fun (+ maybe capable of shaking something loose 😅)

Although coming in hot with the hard question/s I see! 😅😄

Okay: dialogue vs description... I'm not sure I have a preference?! I like writing both, and I think both are challenging, especially to do well/succinctly.

And... ~it depends!! I find writing dialogue pretty fun generally, but if I'm writing Beth & rio speaking to each other my face gets grumpy & lots of stuff ends up crossed through bc I tend to violently dislike it when they speak (🤯🤯🤯) & also they're so taciturn, nonsensical, insane etc.

And description! I mean what even is that! Of settings, of ppl, of outfits, of how ppl are speaking (eg volume, pitch, facial expressions & movements etc)...? It's a huge topic to lump together as a preference no, and not to be that guy (just kidding! I love to be that guy!) there's no reason dialogue couldn't be descriptive eg 'what did the man look like?' '18ft tall with 7 feet and bright purple scales'.

So first of all: kinda false dichotomy maybe? But most of all: deffo false dichotomy, in that I think the really hard bit is knitting them together! Just back and forth dialogue btwn (espec only 2 characters, particularly of different genders so you can rely on pronouns as identification) isn't so hard, and neither is finding ways to describe whatever needs describing: and even if the latter doesn't come super naturally, I think if you can identify what needs more detail to bring it to life, that's a workable challenge. The heavvvvy difficulty is tying them together dynamically, & unforcedly!

~conversations (I'd say beyond only dialogue, bc there could be unspoken communication via say eye contact, body language, movement etc) can be a great way to pepper in descriptive texture (eg of the environment, the objects characters are interacting with, the characters & their physical responses) but it's a fine balancing act!

Typically when I'm reading a conversation, I want to know what the other person says next in response!! I don't always want a lot of superfluous detail abt where their fingers are dallying!! That can take the reader out of the rhythm of the dialogue! If there's a paragraph of motion and detailed description btwn each spoken line and/or relevant gesture, I might simply forget what the heck they're responding to by the time we get there!!

So I think ^structure & rhythm/pace (as well as what pov it's filtered through) become v important. If it's a "dialogue" scene btwn oh let's say 2 v taciturn annoying insane etc chars where actually only about 3 lines of speech are exchanged, having a lot of additional descriptive texture can help. If the responses are being eked out, then a lot of glaring & gesturing & looking away at other stuff indeed makes sense to be happening & makes sense that it would be noticed by the pov character. Whereas if it's a rapid fire screaming match, too much detail & motion can slow the scene down, be distracting for the reader & easily seem unrealistic for the pov character (eg why are they staring at the actions of each individual finger when it was established a moment ago they were glaring into another character's eyes? How are they taking in & enumerating micromovements when they're established to be apoplectic with rage & incapable of focus?).

I'm trying to type up a ragged paper first draft atm, and what I've been struck by for the dialogue + description sections is:

too many dialogue tags! In order to convey who is (still, sometimes) speaking + shove in some relevant description, there can end up being too much he says she says where it doesn't need to be specified, which can get clunky & repetitive, and inevitably slows scenes down

Too much/fussy visual detail -- description can be fun, but ultimately writing can never convey visuals the way TV/film/comics can. It's easy to fall into the trap of trying to make the reader 'see' the story, but again I think this runs the risk of slowing things down too much and also if everything is described in detail, it makes it difficult for the reader to pick up on what's important (but conversely, if only the important things are described, it can make it too obvious what's plot-critical)

Beth and rio are... There I guess? And... Wearing clothes maybe? And rhea is there!! Let me describe to you her entire outfit, including each pocket in vivid detail 😂 (the author might like one character more than the others and maybe she should just leave it like that cos she's right!!!!)

Sentences aren't that load-bearing!! You can't realllly just throw 24 commas into one and pray it makes sense, which can make knitting dialogue + description together more challenging, espec in terms of trying to keep sentence structure varied (eg not 12 in a row starting with a pronoun or name, or SVO generally)

I'm looking fwd to one day being at the editing stage to find solutions 😊 & I don't know if I'm cheating but I deffo vote for an idealised seamless combo as the really challenging bit!!

Which leads clumsily onto your second q, narrative vs summary styles, to which I'll start by saying (since it is the brand): false dichotomy...?

Firstly cos I'd probs term it ~scenic vs summary (given that I think summarisation IS still [or does still have? 🤔] narrative), but also bc they frequently operate in combination, and, as ever, ~it depends.

Dialogue (+ description) scenes are probs the perfect vehicle for the combo! In order to keep dialogue snappy & engaging, over realism, things like pauses or repetition are often culled from the genuine "spoken bits", and summarised eg 'he agreed & they organised the next meeting', 'he said her name again', 'she ummed & ahhed, until eventually admitting it'.

Additionally, I generally prefer summarised dialogue when characters are remembering something from the past, rather than them apparently having perfect recall of a conversation from ages ago. This also allows for them remembering in full detail one or two choice lines that were yelled @ them to stand out!!

Likewise, this switch is a device that can be employed to display information about the pov character/'s ~mood eg is there a full record of conversation with one character vs with others it's simply summarised? Or are their scenes with character/s when they're on good terms detailed vs ones where they're on the outs just staccato summaries? Or indeed vice-versa! What are they paying attention to, and what are they comfortable expressing even to themself?

Ppl talk about the difference btwn the two styles (& indeed showing vs telling) as if they're absolute, but I'm not sure I adhere to that. If you have a character who is v matter of fact (at least in some scenarios), their pov might come across as summarisation rather than scenic; if you have a character that doesn't want to engage with their interiority (at times anyway), scenes might veer twds the telling side. That's not necessarily bad!

Ultimately I think it depends on the type of story! Many will have both 'proper' scenes & summarisation, and I think they work particularly well in concert bc of the contrast! The latter is often used to convey the passing of time succinctly (although I think that can be done scenically too, eg with the length of them, or bg deets), and I'm a proponent of allowing things to be glossed over which arent super relevant bc the reader doesn't need to be bombarded with too much (as that makes it difficult to pick out what matters) & also cos otherwise it gets too bloody large (hell for author).

A seamless transition btwn the 2 styles (ie from general to specific) can be one of my fave narrative tricks to experience as a reader eg (à la 85% of dh Lawrence stories) 'he lived in a cottage, with a long lane behind it. Every day he took that route to work, climbing over the tall gate. The sun was shining, hot on his head & bright on the clover as he panted along', like oh OK we've arrived at the action in the middle of the establishing detail have we!!!! Conversely, it can be one of my most hated experiences to read (what! I contain multitudes 😂) eg a couple of proper scenes suddenly descending into summary with not even a line break between 🤯 (I suppose it comes down to whether it feels intentional, vs messy? 🤔)

& I think both have challenges! A story purely composed of 'real' scenes runs the risk of putting too much onus on the reader -- can you know that you've conveyed what you wanted accurately as the writer? And to whom? What implicit references could be clear universally? (is an audience of a different generation or region or experiences going to pick up on things the same way?) plus a bunch of similar scenes can become repetitive -- do you need to slog through each weekly meeting, or do you just want to display one or two, then establish that they keep going on? (repetition CAN be really powerful, bc if it's established then the breaking of that routine may be v striking, but you probs don't want eg the minutiae of several similar council meetings if they're not super plot relevant.)

But is summary too simplistic? Is stating things removing needed ambiguity? Are these things which could have been displayed elsewise and/or earlier?

I'm not sure I have a preference, and I'm not sure they can realllly be separated out (most proper snapshot scenes will have some degree of summarisation to them), and I think ~summarised storytelling gets a bit of a bad rap & is unfairly seen as juvenile where it can be such an effective way to move through time, can certainly be told v much via the pov character's lens, allows authors to skip over stuff which would bloat the story (or indeed paper over weaknesses) & can be so so effective in short stories.

Especially where the two are used in combination, I think it comes back to structure & pov for me. What's actually relevant to the story? What would the ~narrator bother to dwell on? How long do you want this monster to be?? What needs to be clear to the reader? If everything else is the other way, does diverting here feel weird or does the difference underline a change in mood/focus/whatever?

And ultimately: trying things out is the best! The more comfortable I've got/ten with being able to do different things, even if not to a very high level, the better I feel about the ability to utilise them as a tool!

Something about open canon interpretations that I think people miss is how Gamora's canon is the only one left open when it comes to her importance to the whole family and story. It's the only one left open when it comes to did they all grieve her death. It's not even clear if she's considered part of the family anymore and that's not good. Not when the guardians family is all the audience cares about. She's also the only character being attacked the way she is by some fans currently and that's worth thinking over. As is the lack of commentary on her role from James Gunn and the fact that when he does speak it's comments that further push the idea she's not important and doesn't matter to the other characters.

A lot of people miss this so I thought I'd share Intersectionality is important. You cannot colorblind your way through discussions of representation. You can't say Gamora's story/role worked for you on one level and then tell people they should ignore the other parts of her and how that's been handled. That's not how this works. Marvel even did a panel of a human Gamora a couple years ago where they made her look like Zoe to honor her as a woc. All aspects of who she is matters equally. It's not being mean or unfair or a bad fan to care about race, gender, sexual orientation etc. Discussing these things isn't ignoring other parts of canon that are well done. It's also not more harmful to be told your words or actions were sexist/racist/homophobic and hurt someone than it is to be on the receiving end of sexism/racism/homophobia etc.

There are good things about vol 3 and I'm grateful to people discussing them and writing about them. But it would be willfully ignorant to pretend Gamora's death was handled well. That she got as much character development as all the other guardians. That she got an equally fleshed out arc. That she was shown on screen support and love while figuring her life out during such a crazy experience of coming to the future. We didn't even get to see how she felt about Thanos finally being dead. I have seen some people say that Gamora got a good arc and people are just nitpicking or ignoring it. That would be believable if not for the fact that the majority of post movie discussions about how amazing the characters are surely haven't been about how well her character was handled. They aren't talking about how far she's come or how close she is to the other guardians. Pretending doesn't help.

real anon, i think part of what made vol 3 painful for me upon first watch is we are seeing the gotg at their very closest and best - some of these characters have known each other for 10 years now, the found family is found familying more than any previous gotg film before. and gamora missed it. we only got to see gamora found familying with the gotg during their first few months together in vol 1 and 2, and then everything in her next and final appearance was abt thanos; she gets like 1 scene with the whole team in iw before they split up. and it's just so sad to me that we even get to see nebula found familying and having these very specific dynamics with everyone that we just...never got to see our gamora have onscreen.

like, it just leaves me with so many questions abt gamora's individual relationships with everyone - questions that i likely may have had in 2014, walking out of the theater after seeing vol 1, excited for where the gotg would go from there and how all of the characters would grow together. it just sucks to know that 2014!me (2014!gamora pun a ha ha ha everybody laughed) will never get those answers in canon for gamora's character :/

before all this, i think gamora was on track to having one of the best arcs in the mcu. but once she was dead forever, from those specific circumstances, it was over. even peter killing her would've been a better conclusion to her arc, bc at least she would've still had some agency at the end, But Alas

and gamora being played by and essentially coded as a woc absolutely matters in this discussion. i've been saying it since 2017 - have been having to FIGHT ppl in this very fandom over it as well - but gamora being a woc is absolutely an important nuance to her background. like you're gonna look me in the face and tell me thanos isn't basically a space colonizer? that this storyline does not at all parallel the very real history of colonizers destroying others' homelands, killing entire populations in the name of some sort of bs theory that it's for the good of the ppl, and abducting/trafficking children from the very places and communities they destroy?? like holy hell my dudes. consider this when you wonder why some of us are upset !

Having a cold and losing my voice is such a good feeling the raspy, deeper, voice crack filled cold voice

I'm 155 cm (5'1) all my friends just so happen to be taller females so I'm always the one looking up at them and its werid

My friends consider me "one of the girls" but they also look at me like a annoying teenaged boy that I am

ALL my extended family assumes a just a masc gal and I cut my hair bc I wanted to be all masc lesbian but uhhh I'm a dude

First glance and you'd assume I'm a dude but as soon as I talk BAM you'd suddenly assume I'm a gal

I've said I'm trans out loud twice and I went into shock both times

You know those little things you get babies like a first christmas tree ortament or little things like that all mine are marketed for boys but I'm AFAB. I think its really funny coincidence (or not idk🤷‍♂️)

My chosen name is one letter different from my deadname, i thought this was hilarious hence why I chose it

I am so shy I had kids in my gr. 6 class think I was mute as well as a french teacher in gr 9, but I'm not (mostly) I'm just hella socialy anxious. Typicaly (not really) dudes tend to be loud and take up space and for some reason dysphoria decided to attack me abt this

I grew up doing highland dancing where females wear a dress and the males wear a kilt I always did compitions in kilt and didn't notice

Overhearing hetcis ppl panic over the pronouns on forms, I heard someone painc bc they didn't know what one to pick bc they didn't want to seem queer or homophobic (I was confused too)

I was on omegle and someone assumed I was a dude even after I had talked and I wasn't out yet to my friends AND I still had long hair. It was the best feeling ever

─── ➤ mike’s mouth has always run hot, his parents dont understand what happened to the sweet boy growing up. his friends want to know why he acts so selfish and mike doesn’t know how to tell them anything. he’s afraid that if he speaks that it just won’t stop. his parents are still arguing and sometimes he sees his dad on the couch and he thinks that this is just what a normal family does. he takes holly for ice cream and sees less and less of nancy who he felt like was the only one who could understand what it’s like growing up in a big house where no one talks to each other.

─── ➤ the bullies used to scare him growing up, but they start to look less and less scary when they say a bad word about mike’s friends to his face. by sixteen he’s earned enough punches to the face to where his parents have just stopped caring, stopped yelling at him. he doesn’t know which is worse. they say things like a lost cause, and we don’t know who you are anymore. mike can’t remember the last time that he felt like himself. and he still doesn’t say anything.

─── ➤ mike will do anything for his friends, but he doesn’t know how to tell them he loves them. he doesn’t think that he’s ever said the word love to anyone before. even if he means it. the word love is terrifying, he’s pretty sure his parents don’t love each other, that the wheeler children were in some form of an obligation. if love is an obligation then he doesn’t want any part of it.

─── ➤ mike is seventeen and his parents ask him if he’s thought about what schools he’s thinking about applying for. he doesn’t know how to tell them that he doesn’t know if he wants to go to school. he has the grades for it despite the detentions. he’s smart enough, his teachers say when they ask him why he keeps acting up. he knows that if he puts his mind to it that he could go wherever he wants, the sky’s the limit. but the choice gets made for him when will byers goes missing.

─── ➤ his parents know that will going missing is a big deal, but they don’t understand that will is his best friend, they don’t understand that mike will move heaven and earth to find him. but they don’t pay attention enough to realize that mike has been hiding el in their basement.

─── ➤ for the first time in his life, mike feels needed. and it’s an overwhelming feeling to be needed. ( and for the next couple of years he doesn’t know how to tell people that he doesn’t feel real unless he’s needed. )

─── ➤ they fight monsters from a different dimensions that fall, and will gets found, eleven is dead, and he watches her die.

─── ➤ sometimes mike can still feel her. at least, that’s what he tells himself. he knows that it does more harm than good making himself think that she’s still alive because it’s easier than the alternative of thinking that she’s actually gone and he’ll never see her again. on day 352 after he puts the dinosaur he showed el in the donation bin he calls her again and he tells her he had a bad day, that he wishes that she were here, they all do, but mostly him. he doesn’t get an answer. he knows that he should start moving on but mike has never been able to move on from anything. he thinks he’s starting to understand what the word love means, if only because eleven is dead. and it was too late to say how he felt. mike was always too late to say how he felt.

─── ➤ he starts getting into fights with his parents, more explosive one’s. fights where mike can’t take back the words that he’s said. he doesn’t think that he can still blame it on growing pains anymore. it’s grief and anger that he’s never felt before, he knows he’s blessed in that way. but he watched his best friend go missing, assumed dead, and watch el face the demogorgon and die, and will has been acting weird and no one can tell him why.

─── ➤ things get a little better the summer of ‘85, eleven is alive and he has his best friend back. but mike ruins it by opening his mouth and lying. he could blame hopper, but he knows that if he was just honest with his feelings then he wouldn’t have gotten himself in the mess that he buried himself deep in. eleven breaks up with him and he knows it’s not the end of the world but it feels like it. it seems a bit ridiculous given that so many of his friends, including himself, have almost died more than once. but its young love, and he never thought that he was capable of falling in love in the first place. things quickly go to shit with max’s brother billy, and eleven loses her powers, and hopper is dead and it feels like the beginning of the end.

─── ➤ mike has been to too many funerals for people his age. will and eleven move away quickly after. the party starts to drift and mike gets a job at the arcade palace with max. mike knows that he’s been unfair to max. he had never handled changed well, ( and selfishly mike wants to know if people only pay attention to him because he’s always so angry ) , but that summer he starts to slowly open up because he loved el and el loved max and maybe this is one of the only ways that he can be close to her. they don’t have to say anything during their shifts and mike is starting to understand that sometimes silence like this could be companionship instead of resentment like his parents.

─── ➤ spring break is when it all goes to shit again. he’s in california and his relationship with will has changed and he doesn’t know why. ( he thinks back to it now that he could’ve called more. he could have written a damn letter, but mike had never been good at sharing his feelings and it’s been years and you would have thought he would have gotten better at it by now. ) eleven gets taken away from him again and he’s tired of people he loves always being taken away leaving him helpless. ( he’s supposed to be the leader, the paladin, why can’t he ever help the way that he wants to? )

─── ➤ mike does too much thinking in the back of the van, sitting next to will. his whole life has felt so directionless and they keep getting into these dangerous situations and he keeps being a bad friend about it. he finds himself looking over at will when he’s not looking wanting to say everything that’s been on his mind the past few years, wanting to ask if he knows where their childhood went, that this isn’t how they’re supposed to be spending the beginning of their twenties. but he knows that there are things that will doesn’t understand about mike, and so many more that mike doesn’t understand about will. he doesn’t know what to say when will gives him a painting and he cries. he thinks about reaching out to grab his hand but he doesn’t. he stares out the window and tells himself that he should say how he feels, say more than the fact that he liked it, that he’s always liked his paintings, but it feels more than that.

─── ➤ he knows it’s a bad idea from the start, but he’s never been able to tell el no before, and max is in danger and she’s the only one that can stop it. he watches the girl he loves start choking in the tub and for once in his life he actually starts to say how he feels. he loves el. he loves el and he hates that it took this long for him to say it. he doesn’t know how to tell her all the other things he loves about her he hopes that one day maybe he’ll be able to work up to all of that. love didn’t have to be an obligation and she taught him that, it was something that you choose over and over again and they’ve been through too much to let that go.

─── ➤ hawkins splits in half. the town that he thought he hated is broken and he can’t help but feel grief over the place that raised him. the place that gave him so many of his favourite people and memories. and just like before, he has no idea what to do.

If there were any characters youd be worried about needing more power/HP in Mondstadt that u could level up besides Razor, itd be Bennett, hands down.

Fischl eventually gets herded by Oz back to Mondstadt bc of their parents wanting them back by dinner,

So u Razor and Benny r left to wander around :]

As u guys explore and get chests and talk,

U all begin to gather ingredients for dinner (not that u dont have an inventory but the boys dont wanna cut into ur supplies, the sweethearts)

... Benny slowly starts to find and accumulate foodstuffs

Those Phileano? mushrooms (the white toasty looking ones that r always on roofs or windmills?)

He finds at eye level on nearly any building u come across.

Crabs?

Benny currently has his shirt turned into a basket trying to contain them, and more are flocking to him lol

Snap dragons? Calla lilies?? Even violetgrass, those purple horsetails, lotus heads, and a few qingqin from Liyue somehow make it into his bag 💀

The real question to ask at this point is, when wasn't Bennett lucky today??

So its a few weeks later, and Benny is like spending, every day with yall now lol

Ur getting dinner ready for u guys, and ur hopefully gonna make enough to leave leftovers for Lupical and Andrius,

So Razor has gone off to get some water to boil,

And Benny is climbing this huge tree to reach some eggs

And as he gets farther and farther up the tree away from you, he starts to slip more often 😬

Finally as he reaches the top, u realize after weeks without even a trip from him whenever hes around yall, why he wasnt unlucky-

...the closer he is to you, the luckier he is, and the farther Benny is-

He steps on a dead branch and it snaps :0 !!

Just as he falls, he screams and yells,

"DAD!!"

U push together some thick bushes and vines to catch him luckily

(lord knows u couldnt have caught him no matter how light he is, rip benny)

..Benny is okay, but he does go red in the face, and when u ask if he wants u to get one of his dads from the guild to check him over/make him feel better?

He says quickly "NO THANKS!"

Then Razor comes back like, "You call Lupical dad now?"

Benny: "What? No!"

You: "Do u see me as a, father figure, Bennett?"

Benny: "NO- more like I see u as a BOTHER figure bc ur always BOTHERING ME-"

So one time when you Razor and him were engaging with a couple hilichurls again on the way to Windrise,

Benny applied pyro, and bc u were standing father away than usual (there was an archer earlier u were dodging)

His bad luck crept in and when Razor went to charge up his wolf spirit electro ult-

...everyone went flying back.

Ok so youve been getting Razor and u furnishings right

And youve been asking him what he wants to add to the caves digs ! :]

(U made a more fortified "front door" to the cave entrance, its also not that deep of a cave so there r only like 3 other "rooms" besides the main entrance area)

U improved both of u guys beds (tho razor will crash urs if he has a nightmare)

Along with some new outfits for him!

And so he has requested some stuff, but as time goes on,

Slowly, Razor goes from telling Benny about what new thing u added or telling his friend abt what he wants for the cave/himself,

To asking Benny what he wants bc he stays over so often 😭

(Youve gotten Benny factored into ur finances now lol, u gave him new clothes, new gear, amenities, etc. It also helps him bc he doesnt rlly have a main caretaker, so if he needs money he has to take commissions, which can be dangerous to him alone bc if u dont know, Benny's Adventuring Team only has him as the single member of it, plus thats not good if he is too sick or too injured to work, so a 2nd source of lowkey income is good for him <3 )

U now have a coffee table as the dinner table (razor was used to sitting on the ground to eat so a high table felt weird to him)

so As We Know clones-specific canon is A Hot Mess so, for my purposes, jango employed the cuy'val dar to train the clones & the distinction isn't that they only trained some clones it's that they trained some more. jango trained the alphas personally, there were aptitude tests for CC training but jango got final say, CC training meant more time with the cuy'val dar as opposed to flash training & sims. most clones are basically ipad babies. i love domino squad but given the numbers it is insane that tcw tries to say any trainer wld take that much personal interest in just one squad, esp after the war's actually started & they have an idea of actual casualty rates

(oh this is a lot of words ok i will be kind)

similarly, in theory after the war starts choosing who gets CC training wld fall to the alphas but in practise CC training just stops in favour of universal Don't Fucking Die Before Your Third Deployment training. if the war went on long enough they ran out of anyone with formal CC training then hypothetically promotion wld depend on field experience but in practice by the last few months most every company is operating on an Whoever Yells The Loudest command structure. rex is actually just very ahead of the curve in being a captain inexplicably in charge of a battalion

anyway. sorry ive thought abt this too much. my point is, kabu & cody are batchmates but kabu did not get CC training; kabu is a captain, kabu got medic training. fox & cody are not batchmates, tho they are agemates (for my purposes, batches are like being in the same high school class and agemates is being in the same grade and i refuse to actually run the numbers on how many are in a batch but it is more like a few dozen than a handful), and they did CC training Together for that reason.

SO. to get to ur actual question. fox & cody on kamino are new chevrolet in flames dot mp3. nightmare teens who have been told they're The Best Of The Best and also have enough of an inclination to Asking Questions to be overly aware just how dire their sitch is and are very much plastering over that awareness with cockiness & bastardry. (not that every clone isnt aware Shit's Fucked but yknow there's 'wow it sucks we literally don't have rights' and then there's 'if we're meant to be such good soldiers why is there so many of us. how many of us are they expecting to die.' & CC training does in fact go over replacing casualties). they are inseparable from almost the moment they meet; first CC training session involves sparring & they are the two who Will Not Fucking Quit.

cody & kabu are -- ok to be clear when i write clones 'batchmates' is not a guarantee of Sibling Dynamic, but in cody & kabu's case they are Sibling Dynamic. lot of downtime spent together, cody's the first person kabu talks abt gender to, kabu's the one who gets the brunt of cody's Fucking Hells Do I Even Want Command stress, etc. they're very much the siblings who will shittalk each other till the cows come home but stab anyone else in the throat for looking at their sib funny. their batch's Resident Troublemakers

kabu & fox at first are very much like. imagine the spiderman pointing meme but they're both holding a gun. what do you mean cody can have TWO people. this is quickly resolved after the first time fox & cody make out, and then kabu & fox join forces (cody Hates this)

so a summary of the dynamic of all three of them on kamino is they each take it in turns to be the one Causing Trouble while the other two disapprove.

and then once they're deployed, cody & fox very much have to Adjust to no longer being literally joined at the hip, and kabu bears the brunt of cody adjusting. (thorn bears the brunt of fox adjusting. fox & cody are not deployed with a batchmate on accident)

SO. Now, kabu & fox are just as much Siblings as kabu & cody. fox likes to pretend to be mad about this, kabu likes to threaten to bribe fox's subordinates to forcibly sedate him, cody watches these exchanges with a fond smirk. and the further into the war we get the less ghost / the 212th as a whole give any shits abt decorum & the more likely you are to walk in on kabu threatening to tell the entire GAR about That One Live Fire Drill if cody doesn't lie the fuck back down and stay there

i’ve had this joke headcanon idea for a while now and i decided i wanted to write . so here i am on tumblr ahwahahwahwh how can akaza say so confidently that he’s never eaten any women before ? how about trans people who are closeted / haven’t transitioned yet ? how abt non binary people ? what if .. he can sense ur identity ... this’ll be the first ever story i post here and i hope my 2 followers will enjoy it lolz i got a little bit lazy at the end btw so be warned i feel so anxiety posting this idek y hgelp lsofdsgksg

characters — daki , douma , akaza ships — none genre — silly funny crack

" oh , oh ! there's this rumour going around about your friend . " " oh , really ? what are they talking about this time ? "

it was that time of the day . all of the other demons were telling each other daytime stories , mostly silly light – hearted rumors about the others ( who knew demons liked to gossip lol ) . sunrise was approaching fast as the two upper moons chatted away in the infinity fortress , not at all caring about the time .

" all the other demons are saying he can tell someone's pronouns just by being in the same room as them ! "

daki answers , her and her friend sitting in a small comfortable room while enjoying a small snack ; someone's left arm .

" ah .... akaza – dono sure is a silly guy . i wouldn't be surprised if they were telling the truth ! "

douma replied half - jokingly , a small laugh following shortly after .

" what ? who told you we were talking about akaza – sama , hmm ? " " ehhhh ...? but .. he's like .. my only other frie — " " just kidding !"

not douma forgetting about gyuutarou , smh . oh well . gyuu was enjoying some alone time anyway , so ... an overly dramatic gasp was let out by the man , the little girl laughing at his reaction .

" heyyy ! how dare you trick me like that ? " " it's only fair , you do that to me and my brother all the time ! you always make us look so stupid . hmph ! " " oh , but you are — "

a flick was delivered to douma's forehead , the latter making a little " ah ! " noise before laughing it off with daki , finishing the little joke argument they had . ( .. he did think daki was pretty stupid , though . )

" okay . okay but . not gonna lie , i kinda wanna test that rumour out . " " the gender detector thing ? " " yes , that ! i wanna see if he can actually detect one of my cult members' gender orientation ... "

grabbing an index finger from the half – eaten arm on the table , he held it in front of him . oh boy , he's about to speak an entire paragraph again ..

" i remember who i got this snack from . mieko – kun . sadly , i have no idea what they identify as , but i do know that they go by they / it / he . if we can get this finger to akaza – dono and ask him to sniff out their pronouns , we'll know if the rumours were true or not . "

daki simply nods in agreement at what he said , staying silent so douma could fully explain his ' master plan ' .

" there's one problem , though ... that silly guy keeps avoiding me . it's almost like he's ignoring my existence ! "

he said , pouting in disappointment .

" sorry to burst your bubble , but he probably is ... " " hm ... no , i think he's probably just playing hard to get ! i have a chance ! "

poor douma lol

" err .. how about i do it instead ? i'm a woman , so he'll definitely oblige ! and you can stay hidden somewhere close so i can go back and talk to you when i'm done . " " oh yeah , great idea ! let's go do that . "

douma stood up from the floor , carrying the finger and making his way to the door . meanwhile , daki quickly got up and looked at her friend with a confused face .

" wait , right now ?? " " yeah ! you busy or something ? " " no , i was just a little surprised . " " okay ! let's get going , then ! "

after searching the entire fortress for what felt like hours , they found absolutely nothing . i mean , it wasn't called the infinity fortress for nothing . the place was absolutely massive ! hell , they even ran into kokushibou once or twice . just as the two troublemakers were about to give up , a familiar figure was seen in the distance . the striped oni was sitting at a random bench , looking slightly upwards into the distance , probably zoning out . douma would've instinctively ran towards his ' best friend ' if it weren't for daki holding him in place .. the two quickly hid behind a corner and exchanged nods before douma handed daki mieko's finger . the young demon then swiftly made her way to akaza and presented him with the finger .

" akaza – sama ! "

akaza was snapped back into reality by daki's words . looking at daki with a confused look , he pointed at the item in daki's grasp and asked ;

" .. is that for me ? " " well , you can have it if you want . but please answer my question first ! "

upper three sighed at upper six's request , a little annoyed .

" go ahead , ask away . " " umm ... do you know the pronouns this person used ? " " oh . let me see . "

not understanding why daki was so curious about it , akaza takes the finger from daki's hands and squints his eyes at it . he wasn’t gonna bother to ask why . meanwhile , daki’s brain is going ‘ wait , he’s actually gonna do it ? ‘ , fully expecting him to get real confused and call her a dumbass .

" this one's a little difficult ... " " hm ? why's that ? " " i can sense some neopronouns . not too experienced with those . "

neopronouns ? hold up , douma didn't mention anything about that .

" they definitely prefer they / it . and he / him is okay too . "

eh , whatever . he 100% nailed the more common pronouns , and that was enough proof .

" they also use at least a few neopronouns , star / stars being one of them . i can't tell what the rest are . "

daki was dumbfounded . she wasn't expecting the rumours to be true at all , honestly . she was so ready to blame douma for all this stupidity .

“ woah . thank you , akaza – sama ! “

akaza let out a soft hum , nodding his head .

“ anytime . “

making her way back , daki spots douma , who was casually leaning against the wall .

" hey , douma – kun ! "

douma perked up and looked down at her with his usual cheeky smile .

" yes ? " " did mieko – san use neopronouns ? akaza – sama mentioned those once of twice . " " oh yeah ! i almost forgot ! "

Hi so sorry to vent but I kinda gotta get this off my mind rn cuz it’s really effected me badly. Warning ig: this mentions sh and sa. So, a little backstory. I have this friend, who we’ll call Mike. Me and him were friends for a while, but we kinda just stopped talking, but we reconnected a lot last year. I guess I’d consider him one of my best friends now, and I’ve helped him thru a lot of hard stuff. He’s also really a parent pleaser, and my dad has been very open and thinking he’s a good person and one of the best ppl who are my friends. Now, I have this other friend who we’ll call James. He’s been one of my very best friends for a few years now, and we always talk to each other abt our problems. Also, he’s trans and just started to transition. James and Mike have been bffs for a few years now. Anyways, one night, it’s around 10:00. I’m just chilling on my phone when I get a text from James. He says he’s rlly wanting to cut. Of course, I text him the usual strategies that I use to help myself not, that ppl don’t hate him, and that he can talk to me if wants to. He says he rlly doesn’t wanna talk Abt it cuz he wants to get his mind off of his problems, and he thanks me for being a good friend. After that, we talk ant random stuff for a while, until he says he wants to get to bed. I say “ok gn, but srsly get some rest”. He says ok. A few minutes later, he texts me “I hate the beach”. I ask him why. Although, this is kinda suspicious cuz during the summer, he and Mike took a trip to the beach together. Oh also, James has a bf, who we’ll just call Matthew. Anyways, he says “first: I hate sand, I’m scared of the ocean, and some thing that I don’t rlly wanna say happened.” We talk a little more (mainly abt how I’m also scared of the ocean) when he finally says “ ok promise you won’t tell anyone this, and you’ll act totally normal around him?” I promised. I swear tho, what he told me made me wanna throw up. Apparently, when James was sleeping, Mike sexually assaulted him. He apparently touched him and removed clothing. I wanted to throw up. I know a lot of ppl that are afab that are friends with him and now I’m rlly worried Abt them. Also, James knew this because he has baby cams in the rooms, since he sleepwalks a ton. (One time he nearly walked into the road cuz it, turned out he had a brain tumour but he got it removed.) also, for the record, James has had a lot of past trauma with men, which Mike knew damn well about. Hell, one time me him and a few other ppl were having a sleepover when we were hanging outside and James thought that one of his past rapists cars had parked in front of my house (it wasn’t but we were all rlly terrified for a while.) here’s the thing: we are planning to have one of these sleepovers soon, and Mike is always invited. He can never spend the night tho, thank god. We both know that if I didn’t invite him, my parents and Mike might suspect something, which could make this all worse. We’re thinking that we’re gonna have to invite him (nobody else knows), but there’s gonna be a ton of other ppl there. If anything happens, we’ll all protect him. But I’m mainly worried abt my other friends. I don’t even care what gender they are, he’s pan so I’m worried abt all of them. I also have this friend, we’ll call her Jessica. She and Mike are really close, and I’m pretty sure they’ve had tons of sleepovers. There were a ton of rumours that Mike had a thing for her. I’m rlly scared for her. Anyways, if you’re reading this, thanks for even knowing about the absolute shit that is happening in my life rn. I really don’t know what to do, and I’m really scared. But I can’t act different around him at all, because that risks everyone going even more to shit. So thanks for listening to the shithole that is my life, and if anyone can give advice, thanks

i'm going to talk abt erotica now lol

so i've mentioned before that wolf's tooth was initially just, like. i was at c2e2 and i was sitting in on panels and i needed something to do with my hands so i started designing characters for a smut comic feat. werewolves and that those characters were raleigh and kirby. and then i never finished the comic lol but i kept drawing the characters-- raleigh in particular, who's made of such fun shapes and doesn't have kirby's fucked up nose and is just so fun to draw over and over again for eternity.

EXCEPT.... you'll notice that in the drawings from 2019 ( those trad sketches are, like, The First Raleigh And Kirby Drawings, Ever, Drawn At-Con) raleigh Already has his story-reliant neck scars. that's because those were initially a sex thing lmao, BUT because i wasn't going to be finishing that original comic and i was getting more and more attached to the characters (and because i love thrashing my characters), i couldn't just... Not... explain those scars. And Therefore:

(look at how itty bitty the scar on his face is btw... it's just a baby :')...)

so the concept behind this stage in wolf's tooth's narrative is largely the same: raleigh goes to his boyfriend's mother's house with kirby's cousins and the house is surprise-attacked by another pack of werewolves; raleigh is bitten but he doesn't turn into a werewolf (at this point it was just, like, biology; sometimes it doesn't work and we don't really know why-- may revert to this if my balls out draft doesn't mesh in the end) and the gang goes on a roadtrip to get some revenge. However, in this stage the pedersen pack was much more, like... Chill. i'm really into werewolves and i love reading werewolf stories, and i'm really into comics so i had been spending a lot of time reading on tapas, and i realized that there was like a veritable wellspring of indie werewolf prose fiction on tapas. Unfortunately a lot of what i ran into was that, like... essentially-just-omegaverse; crazy-unexamined-power-dynamic; gender-essentialist; one-of-these-characters-is-just-going-to-be-a-woobie-nervous-baby-while-the-other-one-is-a-hotheaded-d-bag; one-of-them-is-16-the-other-is-30; horny-but-in-an-adolescent-way -type deal, and a lot of them had these like heavily abusive hypermasculine misogynist (without any women???????? this is the omegaverse factor bc even the, like, gay omegaverse is like bioessentialist misogyny with extra steps) pack dynamics that were seen as like Genre Standard (and i think it's because the Algorithm was feeding me largely romances + genres tend to eat each-other like that) and the oversaturation of it was really grating on me so my little transgay anarchist ass was like 'my werewolf pack is just going to be one big happy family', so i had essentially just cut the power dynamic factor entirely.

uhhhhh but then i had trouble writing the story, because there was a single conflict and i couldn't make that conflict work in my fluffy little werewolf world-- it just didn't fit the vibe, it didn't make a lot of sense. so i started to add power dynamics back into the story in a way that felt more meaningful and thematic: lovise wants her direct bloodline to maintain control of the pack but kirby doesn't want to be the alpha; the pack is too large for a single alpha to direct, because she can't be everywhere at once, so her subordinates are becoming impatient with the rigid rules she's implemented to try to keep up; individual interpersonal conflicts between wolves in different pods that make the pack less cohesive; external pressure from other smaller packs because the pedersens are just so scary powerful, etc. it's much darker and more stressful a narrative than it was initially, but to my genuine relief it's nowhere even close to those stories that i was trying so hard to push away from lmao

and that's how awtfr went from pwp (porn without plot) to pwp (porn With plot) to handing out trauma like i'm bad santa
