Savanaclaw: Moonlight
I haven’t written anything in a while so I decided to do this! It’s the second part of dorm ideas for the Moonlight AU by @jackplushie! My favorite bois’ turn hope y’all like it.
Yuu @ everyone: Quit your job.
Boys: Why?
Yuu: Join my emo band phantom thief squad.
Savanaclaw Precinct
Originally just a slow inactive station, Savanaclaw wound up with a lot more work, both at home and abroad, when the Moonlight Thief first burst on stage. With so many early targets being under their jurisdiction, the officers there quickly became the most experienced with the Moonlight Thief specifically. (For as much good as that actually did in stopping any of the thefts.)
Leona is the chief at Savanaclaw. A figure well respected and revered by his fellow officers, if not by himself. Leona's elder brother is a famous figure in international law enforcement, and when it came time for Leona to forge his own path, he decided to stay as far away from Farena as possible. Which unfortunately meant getting stuck in a nowhere city. Leona had no chance of making a name for himself, and mostly spent his days lazing around his office. Until that is, the Moonlight Thief started targeting his precinct. Museums then Villas then Galleries, Leona hadn't had this much work to do since he started. But he was still good at his job, and he quickly managed to always be on top of the Thief's movements. No matter where they struck, Leona was there to meet them. Maybe that's why they so quickly started targeting other cities, and when they did Leona was the first to get called. He finally had what he'd always wanted: recognition. Nothing would solidify that more than catching the Moonlight Thief, permanently for once. It was a shame he got along with them so well.
Ruggie is Leona's second in command, which means he winds up doing a lot of the busy work. Leona wound up hiring him unilaterally upon seeing his potential and they've been stuck together since. Ruggie is... a bit of an oddball when it comes to the Moonlight Thief, he doesn't actually disagree with their actions and usually snickers over the upset rich people they leave in their wake. But his job's his job as he's told them almost everytime they've had a standoff. Ruggie also has the dubious honor of the only person to manage to steal something back. Sure, maybe they got a bit too close and maybe Ruggie wound up getting handcuffed and maybe everytime they meet up Moonlight is either trying to recruit him or staring daggers his way, but the look on their face when Ruggie was halfway to his backup and flashed the necklace at them was priceless.
Jack is a rising star rookie detective at the station, a no nonsense by the books type much to the chagrin of... everyone else. But it's hard for anyone to complain when he gets results, mostly because he's a beast physically. Jack is the only detective other than Ruggie who Leona trusts to lead the defense of a potential theft target. In large part because he's the only other one who's capable of keeping up with the Moonlight Thief, well more than keeping up. He's the only one who can consistently catch up with a fleeing thief. He's had almost as many close calls as Leona, even if Jack drops the ball more... embarassingly. Jack only lies in his reports when he explains why he failed to arrest the thief, because no one believes he got outrun. Usually Jack finds himself getting tricked by some gadget, or worse the thief will make use of his good nature as an opportunity to get away. Not without blowing a kiss back at their 'favorite good boy in blue'. The others might know what it's like to fail to arrest, but those moments are ones Jack is keeping to himself. If only because his tail gets close to spraining whenever he remembers them.

Karasuno popsicle eating competition? 👀👀👀 (i saw you were bored so-)
Karasuno Popsicle Eating Competition
choco omg i loved this concept even though i was definitely not expecting it in the middle of fall, but also, i absolutely get. i spent all night thinking about this so thank you, you successfully cured my boredom, and now here it is, i finally wrote out all of my ideas. please enjoy because i had way too many thoughts about this ♡
Tumblr media
Karasuno
100% Nishinoya’s idea.
What? He literally adores Garigari-kun popsicles. A proper popsicle enthusiast and therefore of course it would be none other than him that would come up with such a plan.
You would probably be walking home with the second-years after practice after a quick stop into Coach Ukai’s store to pick up snacks on the way.
Classic meat buns and crinkly packs of chips that always felt like they contained more air than well... chips—that’s what most of you had gotten. But Nishinoya? It was him and his trusty popsicle (soda flavored of course).
You had to stop too many times to keep track of because he kept devouring them before you could even blink and somehow the lucky bastard kept getting the ones with the sticks that qualify you to get another popsicle for free. You best believe he was cashing those in instantly.
You bumped Tanaka with your shoulder to get his attention, not taking your eyes off of the back of Noya as he disappeared up the hill and back to the store. “Why doesn’t he just buy a whole box of them at this point?”
“Mmm,” Tanaka hummed in agreement, hand deep in his bag of potato chips. He stuffed a few more in his mouth, crunching in thought. “Good point.”
Noya was never gone more than a few seconds and you didn’t even get the chance to reply before he came barreling down the hill, blue wrapper in his hand—prize secured it seemed.
The group didn’t resume walking just yet, waiting to see if finally Noya’s reign of exploiting Ukai’s store for free frozen treats would come to an end. (You were hoping the stick at the center of the popsicle would turn out to be blank, not have another cheesy message about how “You won an extra popsicle! Take this stick to any participating retailer to cash it in.”)
“Aren’t you tired of running back and forth?” That was Ennoshita, chewing on his meat bun and looking like he very much wanted to go home.
Noya pulled the popsicle out of his mouth to reply, tongue already stained blue. “Nope! It’s good cardio, plus I get a reward at the end!” As if to prove his point, Noya punctuated the end of his sentence by shoving the popsicle back into his mouth. It wouldn’t be long until he reached the stick and you guys would (potentially) have to wait another five minutes for him to repeat the process all over again.
“It makes sense to buy more than one though. We’re never going to get home at this rate,” Ennoshita grumbled. He was clearly too tired to be dealing with this or he would have dragged Noya away from the store by his ear a long time ago.
Before Noya could bring up the benefits of running up and down a hill in the middle of the night (on a school night nonetheless) again, Tanaka cut in. “Yeah, why don’t you buy an extra one for me, dude. Then we’ll match!”
It was like a switch was flipped and Noya’s eyes lit up, widening. “Dude, great idea!”
“Right? It was (Y/N)’s idea actually.”
“Tanaka, that was not what I said.” You were quick to defend yourself, casting a nervous side glance at Ennoshita who was already glaring daggers at you.
“Either way, I still think it’s a good idea. I’ll be right back-”
“Oh no you don’t.” Ennoshita grabbed a hold of the back of Noya’s shirt to prevent him from running off (he’d already gotten in position to run up the hill—getting two steps in before he’d been stopped—and if Ennoshita had been a second slower Noya would have gotten away completely).
“Even if you did get one for Ryuu, I don’t know if it’d be very fair,” Narita cut in. Clearly he was just being nice and thinking about everyone, but words had a tendency to get twisted when it came to matters like this, especially when the other second-years were involved.
“Yeah, what are the rest of us, Yuu? Chopped liver?” Kinnoshita finished off his meat bun and crumpled the empty napkin he’d been holding it with into a small ball in his hand to throw away later. He was smirking mischievously and you could tell he wasn’t exactly opposed to the idea of free popsicles.
“True. You really should be offering to get all of us one.” Of course Ennoshita was the one to deliver the final blow. The trio could be real menances when they wanted to be and judging by the look they all shared, they were clearly enjoying poking fun at Noya.
And of course Nishonya took their words seriously, a thoughtful expression taking over his features. Sarcasm? Not detachable when it came to popsicles. “You’re right.” Uh oh… Nishinoya having that faraway look in his eyes was never a good sign. “And if I get it for all of you then… I should just get for the entire team!” His voice increased in volume as he spoke until he had the sudden epiphany at the end that he shouted. Energized by the thought, he made to go run towards the store again but seemed to forget the vice grip Ennoshita still had on him.
Nishinoya struggling against the hold and Ennoshita trying to pull him back so you guys could finally go home and work on your excessive amount of homework quickly turned into a yelling match. You should have known it would turn out this way...
It looked like things were about to get messy, so you decided to intervene, speaking hurriedly before someone lost a limb in the scuffle. “I think it’s a good idea. Let’s just all go ask Ukai now if we can have popsicles tomorrow for practice and then we can go home.” You said the last part looking pointedly at Ennoshita—listen, you were also tired so you knew exactly how to get through to him. How Noya could keep going like this after a full day was beyond you.
There were a few more moments of grumbling and arguing but eventually everyone caved and agreed. And thus you six made the trek back up the small incline to the store perched off to the side. (“No, Nishinoya, we can’t ask him to bring only soda flavored ones. Where is the variety?”)
The jingle of the bell had Ukai looking up from the magazine he was reading and he fixed all of you with an exasperated stare. “You six again? Don’t you have homework or something?”
It didn’t take much convincing to get him on board and he waved a dismissive hand, leaning back in his chair, cigarette between his lips, and opening back up his magazine. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just get home already. I don’t want to be responsible for you getting back so late.”
He for sure delivered on his promise because the next day at practice you found a cooler hidden away in the storage closet in the gym. About an hour into a grueling practice session, he called for a break and revealed the surprise (thank god because Nishinoya had been buzzing with anticipation all day, almost spilling the secret several times, and you were sick and tired of it, please send help).
To say the team was excited was an understatement. The sweltering heat of the gym wasn’t exactly ideal and everyone was dying to go out into the summer sun—at least in the outdoors you had the chance of a light breeze whispering across your neck and relieving some of the suffocating tension of the weather.
Moving everything outside, you helped set up the cooler in the nearby school field.
Takeda was surprised that Ukai even considered doing something like this out of the blue and you overheard Ukai admit that he had been working the team pretty hard for the past few days and that they deserved a break.
The atmosphere was relaxed as some of the team members took up residence on the grassy field, sitting among the bright green and running their hands over the cushiony ground as they got situated.
Leave up to Nishoinya to completely ruin that.
Parking himself right in front of the cooler near the top of the hill and thus preventing anyone from gaining access to the mouthwatering treats inside, he declared, hands on his hips for emphasis, “We should make this a competition!”
Daichi was not having it. “Nishinoya, get down from there, we are not-”
“Challenge accepted!” Hinata and Kageyama were already glaring at each other, determination written all over their faces. (You’re pretty sure either Tanaka or Nishinoya told him some lie before about how eating an ungodly amount of popsicles would make him better at volleyball.) At this point, they were simply waiting for Nishinoya’s signal to begin.
“Now that’s the spirit! Let’s start!” And with that Noya stepped away from the cooler with a dramatic sweep of his arm, bowing low. That’s all the confirmation Hinata and Kageyama needed before they made a beeline for the cooler—you should make sure not to get in their way during this part because they are taking this very seriously.
Tsukishima would just scoff at their childishness, telling them to hurry up and move because they’re hogging all the space.
Tsukishima would not participate in “stupid competitions” of any kind, although he would take a popsicle (begruidngly so after Yamaguchi kept pestering him to do so; secretly he really wanted one though).
You could probably find Tsukishima sitting on the gym steps, rolling his eyes at Hinata and Kageyama. He was also the perfect distance away to throw snide comments at them without risking his safety. Just adding fuel to the flames from the sidelines—that was his role.
Yamaguchi would be perched faithfully next to him eating his own popsicle and Yachi would be leaning up against the side of the gym building since there was no more space left on the steps, talking with him. She kept getting over excited or focusing too much on the conversation though, so the sticky juice of her melting popsicle would be trickling down her arm before you could warn her.
She gets very embarrassed over the whole thing once you point it out and then when she’s busy flailing her arms in apology, that just gets the juice everywhere and then she feels even worse about it, and it’s a whole cycle from there.
If you wanted to join the trio, Tsukishima would not be willing to give up his spot on the steps, but if you kept bothering him about it, he’ll probably give in eventually to get you to shut up or you could take your chances trying to shove him over.
Yamaguchi would take pity on you and squeeze over a bit so you would have room, even though he barely had any space for himself.
Or honestly just go stand next to Yachi, she would be more than happy to have someone else to talk to. The only thing is you have to keep an eye on her melting popsicle or else the above scenario will probably happen except you’ll be right next to her when it does. I sure hope you didn’t wear your favorite shirt today.
Kiyoko is the unofficial referee for the competition.
She was appointed after a unanimous vote was taken between Tanaka and Nishinoya—yes, only those two got a say in it—and technically she would be the official referee if not for the fact that the official default for Karasuno is always pure chaos. Rules? There were no rules. Was this even a competition anymore? Why is everyone taking this so seriously? Does no one have any ideas for a prize for the winner? Why is Asahi on the floor?
Speaking of Asahi, he’s in charge of giving out the popsicles and supervising them in the cooler.
Noya tried to get him to join in on the real action of competing, but Suga and Daichi were absolutely against it because Asahi just looks like he would win. To them, that was automatically cheating (poor Ashai).
Kiyoko helps him out because she doesn’t have much of a job if the boys are doing whatever the hell they want anyway.
Please go hang out with those two at the cooler. You’ll have direct access to all of the popsicles (you now hold all the power) and you can actually relax and have a calm conversation—perfect for some lounging around in the sun. And if you did want to witness the chaos of the competition? Well you also have a front row seat to that. It’s a win-win situation honestly.
Nishinoya and Tanaka were, of course, a part of the competition with Hinata and Kagayama. Now the debate of whether the challenge was to eat as many popsicles as possible or to just eat a certain amount as fast as possible was up in the air because by God, they were doing both. That couldn’t be healthy.
Daichi originally started off just watching from the sides, shaking his head in disapproval and barking reminders at them to slow down lest they choke while on his watch.
Suga was next to him of course, eating his own popsicle and telling him not to be such a stick in the mud. He was enjoying this a little too much and honestly was already hatching a mischievous plan to join in on the chaos himself. Definitely cheers for everyone in order to rile up the situation further and then elbows Daichi in the gut when he tells him to stop encouraging them.
On one such occasion, as he rubbed at the sore spot on his side that Suga kept hitting, Daichi narrowed his eyes at the popsicle in his friend’s hand, taking special notice of it now. “Suga… what flavor is that?”
“Cherry. Why?” He continued eating innocently, although he had an inkling of where this was going to go.
“Didn’t you have two cherry ones already?”
“...maybe.”
There was a gasp of betrayal. “You know those are my favorite! You’re trying to eat all of them before me aren’t you!”
The bold accusation leads to them sharing a look and a tense beat of silence passing before they both sprint to the cooler, digging among the other flavors for the highly coveted cherry.
“It’s mine!”
“No, you have to learn to share!”
They inadvertently end up in the competition through this alone, grabbing as many cherry popsicles as they can and piling their arms high.
You have to remind them that the popsicles are going to melt if they keep that up and then there will really be none left, which then sends them into a new flurry of ripping open the packages and chomping down on the glistening red treat inside.
If you join in on the competition, I hope you have a big appetite because everyone involved is not slowing down anytime soon. They’ve doubled over due to brain freeze a few times already but that doesn’t seem to be stopping any of them. If you chicken out at some point, you will be socially outcasted. You have been warned.
Ennoshita, Kinoshita, and Narita are actually being normal and sitting a bit away on the grass, eating their popsicles at a normal rate (not scarfing them down like some people) and actually enjoying themselves.
Ideal group to join—lots of space to sit near them and stretch out on the field, good view of the uh… “competition” (can it really even be still considered that? what do you call the absolute chaos that’s going on there? honestly, why is no one stopping them? where are you, coach? isn’t this your job?) but still a safe distance away from the chaos, and lots of things to discuss. That’s right, these three know all the drama going on in school so sit back, eavesdrop on the gossip, and enjoy. You may or may not choke on your popsicles a few times because how do they even know these things.
Lean back on the grass and bask in the sunlight with these three—the good vibes are there. You’ll probably all end up laying down in the grass after you finish eating and just talking, poking fun at each other and rolling around in the grass in laughter at the latest antic or joke you’ve come up with.
Coach Ukai probably should have thought this over a bit more because it’s hard to get anyone back to practice after having this small taste of freedom (also tensions are still high after the competition so no one wants to work with each other anyway—let’s hope the grudges don’t last long), so he basically gives up for the day and dismisses “practice” early (it had already spiraled way past that at this point so the term was used loosely).
Everyone who was involved in the competition either never wants to hear the word popsicle ever again or they’re feral for more once the cooler is empty (Nishinoya).
Who would’ve thought a normal walk home would turn out like this?

The king of your heart
Kageyama x fem reader x Kunimi
Bold=Flashbacks
The sun shining throughout Miyagi, driving down road is the mini bus with the Karasuno High boy’s volleyball team. They are heading Aoba Josai High school dor a practice match. Everyone on the bus had different emotions Tsukishima didn’t care, Tanaka was pumped up as always, and Hinata was sick in his stomach ready to vomit any second now. Kageyama just staring out the window worrying about his old teammates. He knows his old classmate and him didn’t end on the greatest note.
“Why aren’t you taking this serious?!?!” a loud voice from an angry Kageyama was heard throughout the gym. The first years were shaking in fear of there senpai  while while the third years were starting to get aggravated by his constant criticism about the way they play. Kunimi looking at the time he knows that Kageyama has to be somewhere. “Um...Kageyama it’s getting a bit late-” “We just started practice and hour ago, what’s important?” Kunimi shaking saying never mind and went to his phone to send a quick message to someone.
Kageyama was then brought back to reality when he heard Tanaka shouting. Everyone on the bus turned around the see vomit on Tanaka’s pants. After everyone calmed down the bus pulled up to Aoba Johsai, everyone getting out of the bus Tanaka led Tsukishima, Yamaguchi and Kageyama around the school when they heard someone speak negatively about Karasuno. Tanako poked his head around the corner with a scary face, to be faced with Yahaba and Kindaichi. The rest of the group walked around the corner giving off a terrifying aura scaring Kindaichi and Yahaba, right when Tanaka was about to snap at them a female voice was heard. “Yuu-kun?” “Yahaba-Senpai??” The groups of boys all turned to see a girl with big e/c eyes with long beautiful h/c hair in the Aoba Josai’s girl school uniform. Kageyama’s eyes widen at the familiar silhouette approaching.
“Tobio-San” a girl with short h/c hair and with big e/c eyes, said with a dark blush covering her cheeks. With a gentle smile Kageyama gently hugged her. “Y/n-chan, how was your day/” Her snuggling into him with a warm feeling spreading throughout her body. “My day was great.” Her deciding it’s the perfect time to tell Kageyama something important, how she actually feels. Y/n had a crush on Kageyama since there first year of Junior high, they are now starting their 3 year at Kitagawa. “Tobio can I tell you something?” “Sure, what is it??” Taking a deep breathe Y/n spoke “Kageyama Tobio, I have feelings for you and I was wondering you would like to go on a date with me?” With a small smile Kageyama nodded his head and agrees. That was the start of the relation ship between the two teens.
“W-what’s going on here?” Y/n tried to sound serious but the height difference between her and the guys it quit intimidating. Stepping in front of her friends she stares at Tanaka with an angry expression. Daichi came to grab the boys before they cause any trouble. Kindaichi decided to speak “So, your Majesty finally whipped his new royal subjects into shape?” Kageyama looks at Y/n but she is scrolling through her phone. Kageyama then with a blank just responded with an uh uh. Y/n walked past the group to head to the gym and find a spot at the bleachers. The rest of the boys arrived and they started warming up, kageyama looks at the stands and he see’s y/n,Kageyama remembers how she always loved watching the boys volleyball team play.
The boys in Kitagawa were cheering for there win against Yukigoaka, a young y/n went over to congratulate them and too also check on her best friend. She was worried for Kunimi because she thought he injured himself when he digged for the volleyball. She found Kunimi, so she went over and wrapped her arms around him in a gentle hug. “Nice job out there, you did amazing...” “Thank you n/n. I’m glad you could make it.” She released the hug and gave him a big smile. “I never miss one of your games Akira, which reminds me are you ok?? You aren’t hurt?” Chuckling softly he booped her nose, “I’m fine y/n, don’t worry about me.” The two walking back Y/n saw Kageyama, he turn to look at the the two. Y/n lifting her hand to wave and prepare to walk over to him. Kageyama just brushed past her saying he is going to do some extra practicing, “Y/n...if you want? We can have a sleepover.” Smiling at the idea she grabs Kunimi’s hand and they leave the arena.
Y/n was reading a book under the cherry tree near the boy’s volleyball gym, waiting for Kageyama to leave practice early so he can go on a date with her. Y/n hoping he won’t forget another date this time, Kageyama missed multiple dates and it seems to Y/n that he is growing distant. Expressing how she feels Kageyama promised to take her on a date. Checking the time again, tears started to fall from y/n’s eyes. ‘He’s late again...’ Filled with so much emotion Y/n fell asleep under the tree. Practice has just ended and Kunimi was the first to leave the gym when he saw y/n asleep under the tree. Shocked he sped walked over to her, gathering her school bag Kunimi picked up y/n bridal style to take her home safely. Kageyama walks out of the gym to see his girlfriend in his teammates arms, and he saw red. “Why are you holding my girlfriend?” “Tsk, I’m taking her home. It’s getting late and I didn’t want her to be here alone.” “Why was she-” “Out here? Maybe because you promised to go on a date with her? She was crying, do you realize you were the reason she was crying? How you’re not giving her the right love and affection she deserves?? NO!! You only care about yourself and not about her.” Kunimi walks away holding y/n more closer to him leaving a shocked Kageyama there staring at nothing.
The match between the two schools have begun and Aoba Josai was in the lead because of the mess ups Hinata caused because of his nerves. Kageyama getting angry grabbed him by the shirt and yelled. “Come on!! Stop being a nervous wreck or I’ll kill you.” Kindaichi and Kunimi on the other side weren’t surprised about his outburst. “Well won’t you look at that, huh” Kunimi scoffs “He hasn’t changed a bit.” Y/n just rolled her eyes and looked and Kunimi who was looking at her, smiling she gave him wink which caused the boy to trying to hide his blush. It was Hinata’s turn to serve, the whistle blow and it startled Hinata who accidentally spiked the volleyball at Kageyama’s head. Tanaka and Tsukishima suddenly burst into laughter but what caught his attention was a familiar laugh. Looking from the corner of his eye he see’s y/n laughing, he doesn’t really remember when was the last time she laughed when they were together.
Today is Y/n’s birthday and Kageyama promised to spend the day with her. Finishing the last touch ups to her appearance, y/n was ready for this special day with her boyfriend. Waiting in the living room 20 minutes have past, then another 30 minutes past until Kageyama was officially 2 hours late. Not answering any of her texts, Y/n grabbed her bag and her keys and left the house. She walked across the street and knocked on the door, with a hopeful look when Kunimi opened the door. “Let me guess, he didn’t show up.” Looking at her eyes seeing tears threatening to fall, Kunimi grabbed her by the waist and hugged her. “If you want? We can spend the day together doing whatever you want.” “I would love that Akira.” Kunimi gets ready to head out and once he was ready they left the house to spend the rest of the day together. Y/n didn’t even think of Kageyama once.
“Tobio we need to talk.” “I can’t right now. I’m late for practice.” Y/n had enough, this isn’t the Kageyama she fell in love with. “Tobio Kageyama. Your practice starts in an hour, we need to talk this is important.” “What is it” Shaking because of her mixed emotions of anger and upset, she couldn’t take it anymore. “Kageyama maybe we should-” “Break up” Y/n looks up at him, “Huh?” “Tsk ok then Bye” Kageyama turns around to leave the girl in the hallway. Kageyama just arrived in the gym when all of the sudden he was pushed to the ground. Looking up to see an Angry Kunimi grabbing him by the shirt. “DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU’VE DID” “LET ME GO!!” Kunimi punching Kageyama in the face twice, “You don’t fucking deserve her love” Kunimi pushing Kageyama to the ground left him alone to go look for Y/n.
During the 2nd set Oikawa arrived, wanting the team to win coach decided to switch Oikawa and Kunimi. Kunimi went up to where you were at, to watch the remainder of the game with you. When Oikawa spiked a ball straight to Tsukishima the ball flew in the direction the two were at. Before the ball hit the railing Kunimi quickly grabbed Y/n by the waist and moved her closer to him. The boys from Aoba Josai cheering Kunimi for his actions like “Nice save lover boy!!’ “Look at Romeo!!” “ Get yo girl Kunimi!!” Those comments didn’t go unnoticed by Kageyama, which got him wondering ‘Is Kunimi and Y/n dating?’
After the break up Y/n and Kunimi refused to leave each others side, Kunimi took y/n on ‘dates’ and y/n got to see a romantic side of Kunimi. Two months after the break up Kunimi tried to show y/n that he can show more love that she deserves then Kageyama can ever do. So he decided it was time to ask her out. Meeting her after school under the cherry tree. “Akira is there something you wanted to tell me?” “Y/n L/n, I've been keeping this a secret.” Looking into her eye Kunimi pulled her into a hug, “I’m in love with you and I know this might ruin our friendship but I-” Kunimi was interrupted when Y/n pulled him into a kiss, pulling away with a beet red face Y/n looked at him with so much love. “I return your feelings Akira” “So your my girlfriend...” Nodding her head yes responded with “Yes, and your my boyfriend.” The two just staying there holding on to each other happy they have one another.
The practice match came to an end with Karasuno winning. Kageyama was walking around the halls when he ran into y/n. Y/n saw him so she stopped to congratulate him. “Nice job out there King.” “Um...Thank you.” Kageyama wanted to confirm that one question, “L/n. Are you and Kunimi-’’ “Together? Yeah we are.” Kageyama tensed when she said it, “For how long??” “A few months now, i’m sorry but I got to look for Akira.” Y/n walking away from sight Kageyama walked to join the rest of the Karasuno team. The team kept walking towards the gates after Oikawa confronted them when they heard that familiar laugh. All of them turning to see Y/n and Kunimi walk past them without a care in the world. It was obvious how the love between the two is strong. Sugawara sighs fondly and says “Aw, young love.” Kageyama looks at the two of them feeling his world falling apart, seeing how Kunimi leans into to give you a gentle kiss. That made Kageyama realize one of the most painful things in his world.
‘I lost her..’
‘I’m no longer in her heart. Those two love each other, she is his queen.’
‘While...he is her king. The king to her heart.’

Notes From the 2020 Myanimelist.net Challenges - Part 2: Manga
Time for Part 2 of the Thoughts on the Challenge posts; this one talking about the manga side.
A lot of the executive dysfunction and side effects of the chemo kinda took away my desire to read sometimes. As such, I didn’t get as far into the challenge as I had hoped, only getting about halfway through the required amount I had chosen for myself. There were even a few manga I was reading for the challenge that I have unfortunately not yet finished (Billy Bat, Battle Angel Alita, Meteor Methuselah), so I reluctantly won’t be including them on here. However, I did still read and finish some decent manga and some pretty good ones, too.
Like the anime post, I will mention some honorable mentions/one I had thoughts on, followed by my favorites that I read for the challenge this year.
Let’s do this.
Honorable Mentions/Other Notables:
Scumbag Loser (aka Saiteihen no Otoko) - completed for the task “Read a manga series you can finish in one day”
Tumblr media
Masahiko is a fat, perverted loser who has a smell fetish and thinks everyone is beneath him. He takes solace in the fact that he’s not the Class Loser. However, when the Class Loser gets a girlfriend, Masahiko becomes the new Class Loser. Desperate to get out of this position, he lies and says he has a girlfriend: his childhood friend Haruka, who transfers to his class the next day. But there’s a problem that only Masahiko knows: Haruka died several years before.
This wins Worst of the Challenge, but I didn’t hate it entirely. Masahiko is not a good person, which is usually a negative in my book. This manga basically goes from 0 to 100 real fast. It takes a couple unexpected turns and I couldn’t help but wonder how the problem would be stopped. Ends on a bit of a downer.
Dragon Head - completed for the task “Read a manga that started serialization in the 90s”
Tumblr media
While on a school field trip, the train carrying the students crashes after a natural disaster. Teru is the only survivor in his class. While trying to find a way out, he finds two other survivors, Ako and Nobuo. The three survivors try to escape while dealing with lack of food and light, earthquakes, cults, and the freaking apocalypse happening outside.
This manga was quite the ride. Creepy and scary at times. The artwork was really good, definitely adding to the atmosphere. I liked the characters. The story did kinda drag a bit in the middle and I felt the ending was kinda rushed and stopped inconclusively, but I liked this one.
Omukae Desu - completed for the task “Read a manga that started publishing the same month and year as one of your listed favorites” (Azumanga Daioh, in this case)
Tumblr media
Madoka is a college student who has the power to see lost souls, kinda like the Ghost Whisperer. He is recruited by Nabeshima (the guy in the bunny suit on the manga cover) to work for the GSG, an organization that helps transport wandering souls to the afterlife. In order to help, Madoka often lets the souls briefly take over his body to do various things that they always wanted to do before passing on.
This manga was actually pretty adorable at times. Lighthearted and fun. Characters are kinda hit-and-miss, though their interactions are very amusing. I liked it.
Deathtopia - completed for the task “Read a manga that got cancelled/axed”
Tumblr media
Kou Fujimura is an average guy. One day, he gets into an accident and is severely injured, leaving him blind and on the brink of death. He gets surgery and survives, but he now has psychic abilities and can see weird monsters. A mysterious woman appears, and she recruits him to help her and her fellow hot assassins who work for the police department. He helps the ladies take out the aforementioned weird monsters called Cheaters, people who come back from the dead with special abilities and blend in with normal people.
I liked the story/concept a lot. Kinda gave me Parasyte vibes at times. A little bit too fanservice-y at times. Very good in the beginning, but took a lot of lapses in logic (pointed out in the scanlations I read) near the end, and the ending felt rushed, though I can blame that on the manga being prematurely cancelled. I still recommend this one, as the story is interesting and the action is good.
The!! Beach Stars - completed for the task “Read a manga with a symbol in the title”
Tumblr media
The sequel to the manga Beach Stars that I read for last year’s challenge.
Iruka and the rest of the team are back, getting ready for and competing in the Madonna Cup. Iruka’s goal is still the same: to beat the local volleyball champ Sanae Kayakawa.
Everything I liked about the prequel is here. The action/sports scenes are great, and the camaraderie between the ladies is cool, too. Though it is disappointing that this sequel is only 12 or 13 chapters, as some things could have used more buildup and fleshing out, especially the final match. Still a fun read, though.
Favorites from the Challenge:
Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan (aka Our Happy Time) - completed for the task “Read a featured manga” (Article: https://myanimelist.net/featured/1561/11_Epic_Manga_That_Deserve_to_Be_Adapted_into_Anime)
Tumblr media
Juri is a former pianist who has gone down a dark path after a traumatic event in her life. She has grown to hate her mother, who was once a famous pianist herself. Juri has since attempted suicide multiple times. Yuu is a convict on death row charged with murder, and he has tried to kill himself as well. When Juri’s aunt Monica, a nun, invites her to visit Yuu, their lives both change forever.
This manga makes me think of how a friend told me they recently saw the movie Collateral Beauty for the first time. They said it was melodramatic, but they cried and enjoyed the movie all the same. This pretty much sums up how I felt about this manga.
This one honestly made me tear up a bit, as melodramatic as it was. A little dark, but I was still invested in the characters and the situations. The art is really good, too. It’s one volume, so it doesn’t take that long to read.
Kingyosou - completed for the task “Read a manga that includes a character with a disability”
Tumblr media
One day, a girl, Asuka, falls in love with a boy, Manami, after hearing him play the taiko drums at a school festival. Manami is deaf, however, and has closed his heart to love. Asuka and Manami get to know each other and face various obstacles in their relationship, both relating and not relating to Manami’s deafness.
I thought this manga was really sweet. I also liked that there was deaf representation here, though I can’t really speak on how accurate it is because I’m not deaf myself. You don’t see many manga where the characters have disabilities. The relationship felt a little more realistic in this one because it took some time (as proportional as time can take in a 2-volume manga) for Manami and Asuka to get into the relationship. Another manga that was short, sweet, and to the point, at only 2 volumes.
Babel - completed for the task “Read a manga that appears when putting in your username in the Myanimelist search bar”
Tumblr media
Kouta is a hotel waiter dissatisfied with his job serving rich clientele on New Year’s Eve at the Babel Hotel. On New Year’s Day, a worldwide terrorist attack occurs, with bombs going off everywhere. Kouta then meets someone who gives him the ability to go back in time. Kouta has to use this ability to stop the terrorist attack from happening and pretty much causing WW3.
I liked this manga a lot. A lot of unexpected plot twists. A fascinating mystery, keeps you hooked. I’ve always found time travel plots to be interesting as well.
Bloom Into You (aka Yagate Kimi ni Naru) - completed for the task “Read a Shounen Ai or Shoujo Ai manga” (tagged Shoujo Ai)
Tumblr media
Yuu is a new high school freshman who loves romance manga and wants to experience a love story of her own. But when a classmate confesses his feelings to her, Yuu finds she feels nothing. Yuu sees the student council president, Nanami, turning down a love confession herself. Yuu joins the student council and she and Nanami become friends. Nanami soon confesses her feelings for Yuu, and Yuu is confused.
This one is tied with the next entry in this post for Best of the Challenge.
I loved this manga. So sweet and adorable. Made me tear up at times. Great, well-written character development. Doesn’t rely on bad/problematic tropes like certain other yuri I’ve read and watched recently. I loved watching this complex and realistic relationship between Yuu and Nanami develop. Some of Yuu’s feelings are pretty relatable. Read this one if you’re looking for a great yuri manga.
Inside Mari (aka Boku wa Mari no Naka) - completed for the task “Read a Psychological or Thriller manga” (tagged Psychological)
Tumblr media
Isao Komori is a shut-in who spends his time after dropping out of college fapping, playing video games, and visiting a local convenience store every night to see a high school girl named Mari, who he admires from afar. One day, Isao finds that he is in Mari’s body! Isao-as-Mari continues to live her life and tries to find out how to switch back.
I know I mentioned this earlier, but I’ll be giving Best of the Challenge to both Bloom Into You and Inside Mari. I honestly couldn’t decide between the two, as they are from two different subgenres and two different styles. Kinda like how I couldn’t decide between Hereditary and Into the Spiderverse as my favorite movie of 2018 because they were so different form each other that I couldn’t really compare them.
This manga threw me for a loop multiple times. A subversion and deconstruction of the usual body-swap plots. A darker take on one, if you will. A couple of interesting plot twists, and the manga often takes a different direction than you expect, especially about halfway through the manga, where it switches to different characters’ points of view.
Highly recommended, though not for everyone.

KSB members update 23 May 2020
Masa-Yuu ima nani shiton?
They’re some kind of psychological questions but i didn’t understand a thing. Basically it’s like a scenario, and Masa asks Yuu some open ended question, then from Yuu’s answer we see how much of a psycho he is (apparently very)
Fans: Psycho Fukuzawa
Yuu said he hates insects...
Oh! He wanted to bleach his hair white but shit happens so we have a new “pink charisma”
Tumblr media
Lil Noah’s Mix Channel live
Noah went full serious today (maybe because he was by himself and getting lonely - BISKE take the puppy home for goodness’ sake please)
He was staying in a motel in Tokyo
Tumblr media
He has 3 bros and 1 sis => 5 kids in the house
He took me by surprise because he started off talking about, what is everyone working hard for?
He said before he joined Style Elements and KSB, he had never had to work his ass off for something. He compared himself with his siblings and felt that he has not been working as hard as them.
In KSB, director Go Ueki never got mad with the boys and he is always a nice person. Noah said, even so he also has suggested Noah could work harder which made him think a lot.
He said to him, there are 3 types of people that make him want to work hard: 1) Encouragement from someone above aka Go Ueki-san, 2) Motivation from his peers (he admires Yuu a lot) and 3) Of course, his fans
He said he’s not a strong willed person so if there is no fans, he would not have motivation to try hard. But as long as there is 1 person left to support him, he can try hard.
He said no one in KSB including himself has even once cringed whenever a fan sent them direct messages on SNS. (i can’t say about all of them of course but as for Noah alone, i actually know he reads messages, because i sent a fanart and he acknowledged it. Similarly, Rayshy reads all comments on his Youtube channel. BISKE reads and acknowledges comments to his Instagram posts too)
Oh yes, Yuu gave him this pair of trousers on his birthday <3
Tumblr media
This is probably a good time to say this so imma put it here. So far i have tried to stay neutral and reporter-like on this blog, but i know i have also been putting more personal stuff out here recently. It’s both unfortunate and natural; i’ll tell you why. It’s not always that easy to just come to support such a big group of artists - i started off stanning Yuuki and Yuuki alone. But similar to any interpersonal relationships, the more vulnerable sides you see of the person, the more likely you’d actually want to know more about them - at least that is what i think. For us international fans who are unable to go for their live performances and with the lack of remote access for those, how do you expect yourself to fall in love with them? Through visuals? Nah, i assure you they look much better in person. Live music? Maybe, but we hardly understand what they sing because the Japanese vocab is not beginner-level for those songs.
So how?
For me the answer was that because through this pandemic situation, it just happens to be the time more of them start to show their vulnerable side.
Why did i start to like Ranma? Well, after i saw him almost crying in front of 50 people in real time.
Yuu? Partly cuz he was also almost crying when they met reporters before the group even officially debuted.
Lil Noah? What i wrote above.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not “i like them because they are men who can cry”. i like them more than i have before because i came to realise that under the Idol look, they’re also just boys trying to make things work. They’re humans. They’re kids trying to answer “What do I do to achieve my dreams?”
But to be honest with you, i’d be lying if i said i didn’t get tired from all of this. i did. After the announcement of KSB’s hiatus, the members went aggressive on Instagram live so you can imagine - not only me, but all of their fans in Japan too - after work, tune in on maybe a couple of them a day. Of course we as fans do this out of our own free will, we want to hear their voices and thoughts, we want to see their faces. At the peak we stayed up together with Ranma till 3am and God knows if he slept immediately after that. But after a while i realised the cost of having so much fun is obviously my own level of energy. i mean, you gotta switch your mind to think in another language. And then, translations that i wanna do, the daily updates, keeping up with their side activities like music videos, i love doing them but at the same time it sucks my energy like a snake (i dunno if that even made sense). And it’s not like i don’t know that most of the things i translate isn’t useful to many people - it’s mostly for my own enjoyment. Plus every time i write something in Japanese i feel “Am i making sense? Am i saying something weird?” It’s draining, really.
That’s why at this time, it’s actually perfect timing to hear Noah say something like this. (He actually told fans to promise together that he works hard for people who support them, and we promise to support people we like without holding back)
So, i guess, i don’t have a choice, do i? :)
i just gotta continue supporting them whether they see it or not.
Sorry that it got so long... i dunno how many people actually make it all the way here but thank you for reading and i apologise that it got so personal.
This is your admin, signing off.

☆ oinoya headcanons ☆
( ...that I originally posted on Twitter in the heat of the moment; sorry I’m not sorry at all. They’re quite a lot, so I’m gonna put them under the cut! As always, don’t like ship? Don’t read. )
They meet when Noya starts university and joins the volleyball team and wow, the sparkles in the first triage!
They kinda knew each other already because they played against each other in middle school and are both incredible players. The good-hearted competition is insane!
Oikawa tends to use the suffix -chan / nicknames even with people he doesn't know all that much. There are exceptions though; Noya is one of them (that's canon).
"OIKAWA-SAN!" "...Nishinoya-kun, right?" "Drop the -kun already!" he bluntly cuts him off. Then, in the blink of an eye, the libero's piercing glare shifts and melts into a look of awe and entusiasm. "Your serve was amazing just now! Next time, let me receive it again!"
That guy's impossible so okay, Noya-chan it is! They're teammates anyway and once they hit it off, it's actually endearing!
Started off by accident: it was raining, Oikawa ran into Noya (who didn't have an umbrella) right outside of a restaurant. Might as well dine, right?
Nishinoya hates small talk so awkwardness? Never met her!
Noya calls Oikawa 'Oika-san' at first. Switches to his given name after they start dating.
'Yuu-chan' is meant as a bit of a joke, but then it starts to hold more affection than what Oikawa would like to admit.
They don't use pet names all that often.
Usually, when Oikawa doesn't use any kind of honorific it means they're in the middle of something really intimate and important or that he wants Noya to seriously hear him out.
Noya speaks mainly through gestures and is a bit rough around the edges and not really into sappy stuff 'cause he gets flustered but I mean, he doesn't shy away from voicing his own feelings. He calls Oikawa 'babe' when they're being cocky during practice.
Like, they'd be on different sides of the net and then you hear him shout: "Bring it on babe!", and Oikawa, who's about to serve, will answer with a cocked up eyebrow and a sly, "Coming, hot-shot."
Yeah, hot-shot. 'Cause that's how his boy is: hawt.
• They bicker quite a bit (in childish way) and tend to rile each other up, especially on the court.
Given their positions, there's no rivalry between them (...in volleyball, mind ya). There's just a whole lot of admiration.
• Nishinoya's admiration will probably dislocate one of Oikawa's shoulders someday, but heh, love is tough.
And that's another thing: they have each other's back!
Noya's the hot-headed boyfriend who gets all protective, like, "Excuse you?! Got a problem? Come say it to my face, I dare you!"
He will fight anyone if he has to.
...doesn't gloat about it much though; Oikawa's ego is fine as it is.
He's supportive af (hella boisterous too) and always there cheering on Oikawa so fiercely, like, "BREAK A LEG, TOORU!" (pun unintended) or, "That serve was AWESOME!" or, "You're doing great!" [insert powerful slap on the backside]
Can you feel the love? 'Cause I can!
Oikawa, on the other hand, is pretty cheesy an shameless and yes we know your boyfriend he's amazing Shittykawa now shut up.
He knows Noya is admired by many people, and although he thinks he deserves it he also takes pride in being the one who gets the whole package deal.
He's elegantly smug about it, or so he likes to think. The truth is, he's not elegant at all.
They're neither opposites nor complementary, their personalities just mend so well though!
Noya is genuinely supportive and straightforward, Oikawa is reliable and attentive to a fault.
Oikawa gives Noya tips on how to toss better. He has his own way of doing it, but Noya almost never falls for it (also because tbh he often just doesn't get the irony lmao).
So ideally, that's how Watachi usually did it. But then again, compared to him you're quite small, Yuu-chan." "Hah?! D'you want me to kick you in the shin, Gulliver?"
The height difference is nice, jokes aside. Oikawa says that Noya's attitude could easily be measured as 6'2 and it's true and he finds it adorable and here's another reason why they're pretty physical, ladies and gentlemen.
Leaning against each other on the train because there's so little space and it's convenient? Check!
Hugs from behind? Especially in the morning? Check!
Picking your smol boyfriend up just for the hell of it? Double check!
Please, don’t ever say anything about Nishinoya’s small stature in front of Oikawa; the boy will look at you straight in the eyes and smirk, “Aw, trust me, he’s not as small as you think he is. At all.”
h e h .
They often train together outside of official practices and stuff their mouths afterwards.
Their dates are never boring, even when they just stay in!
Aquarium, roller-skating (Noya teaching Oikawa how not to fall on his ass), mall, planetarium (Noya can't stay quiet though), taking the train to go visit some city for the most varied reasons... anything really.
If they're in the city, Oikawa's the one to guide them (he knows how to read maps). Otherwise it's Noya, who is used to outdoors and has got an incredible internal compass.
Study dates are a thing but they usually take place at the library because Noya is easily distracted and Oikawa finds it cute, sure, but also quite unsettling. Like, he eventually snaps, why doesn't he ever worry? Where are his priorities? Is he even human?
He is, by the way. While not being a genius in school, Noya is pretty self-disciplined and we know he's pretty hard on himself, too. It's just that he balances it all with his attitude.
Oikawa, on the other hand, wants to be as good as he can possibly be and more. He's dedicated, he's pushing forwards to make his talent bloom and that's something that Noya deeply admires about him, even though he thinks (and says) that Oikawa is already talented.
Dates at home include cuddling, movies and TV series, stuff popping out of the oven that looked tasty on the internet, pillow fights, playful wrestling (Noya's fault), shenanigans we're not supposed to know about, conversations of any sort and more cuddling.
They enjoy going out to eat together even if they don't share the exact same taste in food.
Oikawa always manages to snatch one of Nishinoya's egg rolls and get away with it and given that Noya's got a bigger appetite let's be honest: if this isn't love then Idk what is.
Oikawa is one of the few people who can stand talking, eating and watching Nishinoya waving his hands around between a mouthful of food and a sentence (all of this at the same time) without getting a headache.
If you ask him, it's actually cute. Noya's talkative and expressive and he's witty, more mature than it seems and he makes Oikawa feel at ease, comfortable and carefree. Really, look at them and wonder at the high level of dorkiness (I might be making up words now, sorry).
They're both pretty observant and accepting. Oikawa has an analytical and restless mind, there is nothing he doesn't take note of as well as there is not knowing what is going through his head.
Despite all of this, Oikawa knows he has people who he can rely on though, and he actually trusts Nishinoya. The boy's bold and loud and energetic to a fault, but when nobody is looking it's almost scary how piercing and quick those eyes of his are.
The only thing he doesn’t trust Nishinoya with, it’s movies. They have very different preferences. While Oikawa loves sci-fi and films like E.T., Interstellar, Star Wars etc., Nishinoya is into action movies and basically anything that has him screaming his lungs off. Everyone knew Oikawa was serious about them when he came out with, “I found the perfect combination between my excellent taste in movies and, well, yours!”
Ended up being Mars Attacks! lmao.
Sometimes, they watch rom-coms together. Oikawa kinda likes them, Nishinoya doesn’t get the drama but still gets invested in them.
They’re not into the same exact music genre, really, but they once sang Wannabe (Space Girls) in the car. Dorks.
They're a weird mixure of being nosy/pushing and staying out of each other's hair when needed. Especially Noya, who's more independent from this point of view.
But when it's due, there is no escaping his intensively caring side. Oikawa can fight him as much as he wants.
They're both cuddly ~ So very cuddly!
Noya's restlessness made them roll off the couch once and Oikawa is pretty demanding and pouty when he wants to be, but it's really the warmest feeling in the world.
Oikawa's usually the big spoon since Noya's little and as snuggly as a koala(?). And a lot easier to deal with, too!
Reason being his boyfriend's literal softness and sweet scent; cue Noya covering Oikawa in kisses.
They switch though. Like I said, cuddle bugs!
Oikawa has got a bit of a habit of nuzzling Noya's neck when he's the one being held and because of his floofy hair, it always ends up like this: (x).
They do argue from time to time due to their different perspectives, but it never lasts aaaall that much. They're both pretty stubborn though.
The key is communication. In this case, while Oikawa can have difficulties, Nishinoya doesn't, since he's so confrontantional.
This is to say that they're not perfect; they just care enough to be willing to compensate each other and meet in the middle.
Also, they're pretty passionate, if you get my gist!~ (...don't look at me like that, they ain't kids).
Also, hand holding. A whole lot.
Picture these two idiots talking all snuggled up while playing with each other's fingers. You're welcome.
For real though, hands are probably their primary source of PDA.
Oikawa randomly petting Noya's head, Noya poking Oikawa's dimples; you name it!
Next best thing: hugs.
It's flying hugs when it's Noya initiating because he will never stop jumping on people's back. He's a bit more considerate with Oikawa due to his knee.
Nishinoya hugs Oikawa every single morning for 21 seconds straight before jumping out wide awake and full of energy. The shot of oxytocin he gets works wonders far better than coffee.
Speaking of coffee, Oikawa is not a morning person. At all. He’s quite bitchy and needs a lot of time to get ready (and lookable, so he says).
Nishinoya makes coffee for him when he gets up first, but he’s not very good at it since he never drinks it and therefore has never had to make it. He’s improving though, and Oikawa appreciates the effort.
Them icing their own knees late at night; Noya doing his best to massage Oikawa's knee with the essential oils in the gentlest way possible; Oikawa peppering Noya's colored bruises with small kisses.
Oikawa feeling comfortable enough to watch Area 51 documentaries while studying, glasses on and hair mussed, and Nishinoya letting him even though it's his own room because he's smitten and he knows it.
They're both cheesy and will shoot a random pick up line at each other that will result in laugher, sassiness or both. Other than that, they're the opposite of sappy; they're just dorks.
"I asked Kuro-chan to teach me this one!" He's got it written on his hand. "Are you made of copper and tellurium?" "Of what?" "Because you're CuTe!" "...Okay, the one he taught to me is: if I was an enzyme, I'd be DNA helicase so I could unzip your genes." "Kinky, Yuu-chan.~"
When they're not together (they're one year apart in university after all), they sometimes send a quick text or picture to each other. Just 'cause, you know.
Noya: "Do you think I'm pretty?" Oikawa: "No, you're too short and bossy and your nose is all funny."
( Spoiler alert: Oikawa thinks Nishinoya's the prettiest and he will eventually giggle and tell him so, seeing his adorably outraged face. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talks! )

yuu moments. (hq fluff week: day 2)
prompt: hurt/comfort / "i always carry this because i know you'll need it" (sort of)
pairing: nishinoya yuu/kozume kenma
warnings: cursing, mentions of blood from injury, mentions of bruising
notes: a little noyaken ficlet for day 2 of @haikyuufluffweek-2021! :D at this time i would like to thank the many bus commutes to school and boring classes at school that facilitated the writing of this fic. B)
fic under the cut!
-
BAM!
Kenma shuddered at the loud sound of his door slamming open.
"Jesus-!" Even if he was still up playing video games, the curfew for everyone at the Tokyo training camp had been hours ago. Since he shared the room with Noya, his boyfriend who’d been missing for the last few hours, he hadn’t really thought to expect any visitors. So what was someone doing barging into his room just now?
With an annoyed scowl, he looked up from where he’d been playing Animal Crossing on his Switch and turned his head toward the noise.
Oh, it was exactly his little libero. He sighed softly as his perturbed expression relaxed. “Oh. Hey, Yuu. You scared me.”
“Sorry, KenKen,” Noya mumbled absentmindedly. He flicked on the light switch before closing the door behind himself and limping into the room. Something was off in his disposition… but what?
Kenma saved his progress on Animal Crossing and turned off his Switch. His head was tilted a bit to the side as he looked up at his boyfriend, his eyebrows creased together with concern.
In truth, Nishinoya Yuu looked a wreck. Blood was threatening to run out of gashes on his chin and left cheek. One of his eyes was outlined in black swelling. A look at his whole body revealed muscle bruises on his right leg.
That was when the initial shock finally settled, and the impact of this sight hit Kenma head on - no matter how bad it was or wasn’t, the simple fact that his dear boy was hurt sent a pang through his heart. All he could do was idly beckon for his boyfriend to come sit down next to him on his sleeping mat.
Noya followed suit and hobbled over, screwing his eyes shut and clutching Kenma's hand tightly once he was by his side. It helped a bit to be sitting down; it relieved some of the tension he felt in his leg.
"What happened to you?" Kenma questioned softly.
Noya didn't say a word. How convenient of him to fall silent, just when Kenma needed him to talk most.
He drew in a heavy sigh. “Don’t tell me you pushed yourself too hard working on spike-receives again.”
Noya shook his head. “Nuh-uh, I didn’t.”
Kenma raised his brows. "Then?"
With a soft tsk, Noya opened his eyes, immediately wincing a bit at the warm yet cool sting his wounds gave him. It made his face feel like it was being stabbed. “... I... got in a fight. It was with a couple first-year brats too."
Kenma couldn’t help huffing a little. “And what were you doing picking fights with first-years?”
“Hey- what?!" Noya gawked, almost as if he'd expected Kenma to praise him for his heroism. "But they started it! Those damn Shinzen kids thought it’d be funny to mess with Sho, and I had to step in!" he paused to squeeze Kenma's hand, trembling lightly as he felt his wounds prick at him again. Kenma returned a much less forceful squeeze. "God, they have some hard-ass fists. You'd think they'd play nice at their own damn school's training camp too.”
A snort escaped Kenma's lips as he listened, gently cupping his hands around the sides of Noya's face - carefully avoiding the areas where he’d been wounded. “I thought I told you to stop getting into fights, Yuu. The Shoyo I know is strong for someone so tiny.”
“Yeah, but I was walking by when it happened. I couldn’t just stand there while my kouhai got pushed around - are you kidding me? You know what a shitty senpai that’d make me?!” Noya rambled in protest. “I had to show ‘em that I wouldn't let that shit slide.”
"Oh yeah? I bet they learned their lesson," Kenma quipped, getting a tiny laugh out of Noya. He slowly slipped his hand free from Noya's. "Here, let go of me for a second. There's something I have to get."
He got on his knees and crawled back to his duffel bag before scrambling back to his mat with a box of bandaids in his hand. Something was written in Kenma's nice printing on the box's surface.
"What does that say?"
Kenma just held out the box in response. Taking it, Noya tilted his head and blinked, trying for a good minute to make out what it said. "...'For Yuu moments?'" He read hesitantly, eyebrows knitting together into a frown. His guess was confirmed by Kenma nodding. "How come you wrote that?"
Kenma shrugged. "I dunno, I guess I just know you. I know you're so carefree and energetic, and also really into volleyball and protecting the people you care about. So... I guess I just saw it coming that one of those things would get you hurt." He tore open the box and shook out a bandaid. "Now hold still, I'm gonna put some of these on you. It looks like they punched pretty hard."
As he watched Kenma peel back the wrapper, Noya grinned ear-to-ear when he saw the design. He could recognize it anywhere:
“You got ones with the electric fucker!”
Kenma's ears and cheeks went red as he tried not to burst into hysterical laughter. “Pikachu, cutie,” he corrected after a beat of silence. Electric fucker wasn’t exactly Pikachu’s name.
He leaned down a bit to stick the bandaid right over Noya’s cut on his cheek, doing the same to the one on his chin. Noya winced but kept quiet as Kenma did his doctoring.
He lightly tapped each bandaid with his index finger once he'd applied them both. “There, now you’re all patched up.”
“Thanks, KenKen!! I feel better already." Noya beamed. "Do I look badass with these on? I bet I do.”
"Mhm." Kenma quickly pecked Noya's forehead. "Very."
"I like ‘em — you were good to get 'em for me." He leaned his head on Kenma’s shoulder and suddenly cuddled him, making him nearly drop dead.
Kenma ran his fingers through Noya's dark hair. “Yuu? What are you doing?”
“M’tired. And my leg hurts.” Kenma reached for a blanket that Noya had kicked off his cot and wrapped it around them, pulling his boy close and cuddling him back.
“Then just close your eyes. I'll still be here when you open them.”
“Mkay…" Noya tucked himself into the crook of Kenma's neck. "Thanks for taking care of me, KenKen. I-" he was interrupted by a yawn. "-dunno what I'd ever do without you,” he mumbled tiredly, closing his eyes.
“That’s what I’m here for, Yuu,” Kenma replied softly, pulling the blanket tighter around Noya. “You help me so much, I need your Yuu moments to help me return the favor sometimes.”
Noya quietly snickered in response before drifting off to sleep in seconds. As Kenma watched the pinched look disappear from his face, he smiled a little. He knew in that moment that he wouldn’t rather have this any other way, that he wouldn’t give up Noya - or any Yuu moments - for the world.
He still thought that when they were woken up the next morning by Shinzen players relentlessly knocking on their door, seeking revenge.

HAIKYUU - The Dark Spots on the Sun pt3
“You wanted to talk Tanaka?” Daichi, Suga and Asahi leant on the wall on the rooftop overlooking the school’s training grounds. It was their special place. Since being Third years was stressful enough as it was, and being the captain of a volleyball team filled with hyperactive teenagers, it was nice to take a step back and watch something fro, up high. There, they would talk about all kinds of stuff. Classes... girls... volleyball... a Tv program that they had watched the night before. It didn’t matter. On the rooftop, everything felt much smaller than it actually was. It comforted Daichi in that way. So it surprised him to see a text from second year Tanaka Ryonuuske and Nishinoya Yuu asking them to meet them there.
“We think something is weird with Hinata.” All three third years froze, taking in what Tanaka had said. He leaned back against the wall next to Daichi and sighed. “At first I thought nothing of it. I though you know... he wasn’t eating because he really did eat way too much the night before. But three days in a row.... it doesn’t sit well with me.”
“Plus there’s the issue with him spacing out all day. I know he does it in class but in volleyball? And in lunch?” Daichi nodded at what Noya had told him. The other day... Shoyo had been all over the place. Like his mind was somewhere else. He was making mistakes that he never made. Messing up basic moves. It was annoying kageyama like crazy. He even went as far as to stop and not jump up to block a ball, letting the other team score easily. It was weird... more than weird in fact....
Suga nodded. “Then there’s those bruises. Kageyama noticed them the other day. He came up to me to ask if I could talk to him but I haven’t had the chance to.” Asahi flinched a little.
“You think something’s happening at school? Like he’s being bullied?”
“Whoever it is going to pay for hurting our underclassman!” Noya yelled ecstatically. Daichi laughed a little and shook his head.
“Has he been bothered by any other students do you know? I know you’re not in his classes but...”
“No I don’t think so... he gets on well with a lot of people actually...” Tanaka added. It wasn’t hard to love Shoyo Hinata. He was always smiling... always so full of energy... If he was being bullied, they would know.
“Then.... perhaps at home?” Silence rang out between the group. It was something they didn’t want to think about. If Shoyo was getting hurt at home... they couldn’t exactly do anything. If it was a kid at school, perhaps they could have talked to him, or as tanaka put it... ‘beat him into submission’. But if it was at home, this was delicate. They knew that Shoyo’s pride and sense of humility wouldn’t accept help easily. He was just way too independent for that. But they couldn’t go to coach Ukai or Takeda just in case they were wrong.
“I’ll talk to him about it.” Suga said breaking the silence. “If something really is going on at home... we have to be careful. We can’t push him into opening up because in the end we could just make it worse.” Daichi nodded. Out of all of them, Suga was probably the best to deal with this. He could be a helpful and welcoming hand... he could make anybody think and feel like they were safe. It was important that Shoyo told them what was going on, but it had to be done in the right way...
“Okay. In the meantime, we watch Hinata. We try and figure out the extent of it from how he acts. If we’re right about this... and it ends up being dangerous for him... we’ll tell Mr. Takeda. But for now..” Everyone nodded as the sound of the bell rang for the end of the day. Now it was time for practice.
-
“What is wrong with you!? Why aren’t you hitting any of those spikes!?”
“HINATA! CONCENTRATE!”
“You’re an idiot! I’m not setting to you if you keep this up!”
Shoyo remembered the aggravation that Kageyama had the day before. It was like it was coming back to him in flashes. Not all of it... but some of it. It was like, lately, his heart just wasn’t in Volleyball... which was absurd considering all he ever did was eat, sleep and breathe the god damned thing. No matter how many times his mother would scream at him to quit... he kept going in. Because without it, he’d be just that useless school kid in the lower class. Shoyo stood on the court with the ball ready in his hands. He was in another three on three. This time, he was with Suga and Daichi. He remembered coach Ukai wanting to switch things up a bit.... hove someone other than kageyama set for him. It was nice to have Suga set for him in fact... Shoyo found that there was less pressure to hit the ball than there was with Kageyama, mostly because afterwards he didn’t yell at him if he messed up. Which seemed to happen lately. It wasn’t kageyama’s doing... this time it was all Shoyo.
Maybe mom was right. Maybe I do suck at this. Shoyo threw the ball in the air and hit it as hard as he could, only for the ball to only hit the net slightly and fall onto the other side of the court. A point for them but.... Still not good enough. Shoyo served again. This time it went over the net and flew right back to Daichi. For a moment, Shoyo just stood there frozen.
“HINATA MOVE.” Daichi calling him snapped him out of whatever daze he was in and he ran towards the net. He jumped up to try and hit the ball that Suga had set him, just barely grazing the tip of it with his fingers. It fell once again just short of the net. Shoyo stared at where the ball had landed. The whistle blew, signalling the end of the game.
We lost.
We lost because I’m useless.
Why am I not surprised?
Suga put his hand on Shoyo’s shoulder and smiled at him. Shoyo frowned, unable to comprehend what was going on. How could he smile when we just lost?
“Come find me after practice. I need to talk to you.”
Shoyo blinked once. Twice. Three times. “I uh... I can’t I have to get home...”
“Then we’ll walk together for a bit.” Suga turned around and walked over to Daichi and Asahi. They too were looking intently at Shoyo. Everyone was. Yachi... Tsukishima... Enoshita... Yamaguchi... it made Shoyo feel hot and stuffy. Just like he was at lunch. It was unbearable. He sighed slightly and sprinted to the locker room. If Suga was going to walk him home... it couldn’t be good.
Suga turned to watch Shoyo leave to get changed. He felt like something was definitely wrong. That was twice now that he spaced out during a game. It was only a small three on three... but still. Not the usual Hinata-behaviour he had gotten used to since the start of the year.
As he finished closing the gym, he waited by Shoyo’s bike. It was an old thing. Barely kept together. If he had fallen off his bike, then it would make sense. The bike in question looked like he had put it together himself using scraps of metal from the junkyard.
Shoyo kept his head down as he pushed his bike along the road. He hadn’t said anything since they had left. It was seriously worrying Suga. If I’m going to ask him, I need to be upfront about it. But I also can’t be too blunt.
“So... you excited for Tokyo? Yachi told me you’ve been studying really hard apparently...” Shoyo nodded but stayed quiet. To Suga, it looked like he was somewhere far away... not really ‘there’. “God I’m excited to just have a break. I really like volleyball but sometimes I wouldn’t mind missing a session you know?” Suga waited for a response. He himself absolutely loved volleyball and therefore didn’t really need or want a break... however he was mostly looking to see if Shoyo would agree with him... like he always did.
Nothing. Not even a little ‘hmm....’ in acknowledgment.
“Hey hinata?” The silver haired boy stopped walking and waited for the first year to stop as well. He didn’t look at him, and instead kept his head down, further enhancing the thick frown line on Suga’s face. “Is something going on at home?” He could see the boy tense up. His knuckles turning white on the handlebars. Finally, Shoyo lifted his head up and stared up at the sky. It was around April time. Cherry blossoms were starting to form on the trees and fall, causing a small storm of pink and purple petals. Shoyo smiled. Natsu would like one of those. He lift his hand and snapped a branch off, wincing slightly at the pain in his ribs, which Suga didn’t fail to notice. “Hinata... are you safe?”
“I’m fine. Really. I appreciate you asking but... nothing’s going on. We’re completely fine.” He tucked the flower neatly into his maths book, whilst thinking of how happy Natsu would be to see something so pretty.
“Pretty huh?” Suga asked as he watched Shoyo put the book back into his bag. Shoyo nodded.
“It’s for Natsu... she always like pretty things...”
“You sound like the ideal brother...” Shoyo shrugged and continued to walk.
“I don’t know about that... I try to be... for her sake at least.” Suga didn’t say anything after that. Instead, he kept walking silently next to Shoyo, until it was time for the, to part ways.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Hinata! Good luck on the exam!” He waved and watched as Shoyo waved back, got on his bike and began speeding up the mountain like he usually does. For some reason... the conversation that he had with Shoyo... Suga pulled out his phone and opened up his messages. Quickly typing something and then shutting his phone off, he began his own journey back to his home.
SUGAWARA: Daichi, Asahi... I think Tanaka was right. I think something is up with Hinata. And I don’t think it’s good. We’ll talk more later but... we need to keep an eye on him for sure.
-
“I’M HOOOOOOME!”
“Shoyo!” Natsu ran up to her brother and jumped into his arms excitedly. Shoyo laughed a little as he felt the warmth coming from the hug. Immediately, he pulled out his maths book and opened it to the page with the flattened branch.
“Here, Natsu, this is for you.” Natsu’s eyes widened as she cradeled the flowered branch in her fingers like it was the most precious thing in the world. She beamed and threw herself at his neck. He winced a little when she squeezed him too tight but he tried not to let her notice it. Thankfully she didn’t. Setting his bag down, he began dinner. Once his mom came home, she seemed less inclined to talk to Shoyo again... but she seemed to be in a better mood.
The family sat huddled around the small coffee table in silence, listening to the blaze of the TV whilst eating.
“Your test is tomorrow isn’t it?” Amaya questioned. Shoyo stiffened and nodded. “You better not fail. If you do... you can kiss goodbye any chance of going to volleyball again. I don’t care if you love it or not.” Shoyo nodded. He knew that Tokyo wasn’t the only thing riding on this exam. If he didn’t do well, he didn’t know what Amaya would do to him. He also didn’t know if Amaya would be satisfied with just him like usual. Whatever happens... he has to pass that test. “I’m leaving tomorrow morning early. So you have to take Natsu to school. Got it?” Shoyo nodded, before collecting up all the plates and putting them in the sink to wash up. “And if I hear you did anything while I was away... you’re dead you know that right?” Once again, Shoyo did nothing but nod. It was imperative that she went on this business trip... And it was imperative that she didn’t come home early.
“How long are you going for?” Shoyo knew already. She would leave tomorrow and come back two days after Shoyo had come back from the trip. This would give him enough time to make sure it looked like both he and Natsu had not left home. It was a win-win situation.
“10 days. Make sure you clean up in here too before you go to bed.” Shoyo nodded and waited until Amaya had closed the door to her room like she did every night before he started cleaning up. Natsu continued to watch TV. Shoyo stared at his hands through the water in the sink. He was looking forward to Tokyo. To him this was a break. A time where he could relax and focus solely on Volleyball. No distractions at all. He loved taking care of Natsu.... but even he had to admit that he was tired. This trip would mean that he could eat real food. He could have a whole week without worrying about cooking or cleaning or when his next beating was. Tokyo...
-
The next morning, Amaya had already left. Natsu had to wake up earlier than usual, since she wasn’t being dropped off by Amaya, she had to come to Shoyo’s morning practice. Then she would get picked up at the school gates by the friend that she was going to be staying with. Setsuko Agane used to be Amaya’s closets friend. After the death of their father, Amaya had distanced herself from her. Setsuko knew roughy the extent of what Amaya was like. She knew that she could be slightly too ‘severe’... particularly towards Shoyo. So... she had kindly agreed to watch Natsu, and not mention anything to their mother.
“You ready?” Shoyo asked quietly. Natsu nodded tiredly, as Shoyo pulled her usual yellow anorak and matching boots on. Red Book bag in hand, he set her down on the saddle of his bike. This wasn’t exactly the safest thing to do, but unless they wanted to spend an hour walking to school, this was their only option. “Hold on tight. And don’t forget to tuck your legs in.” Shoyo said as started to peddle whilst standing up. Natsu nodded and held on tightly to his waist, as to not fall off the bike. It wasn’t easy, and Shoyo had to make sure he didn’t wobble too much, but they still managed to safely get to karasuno without any accidents.
Once they arrived, Shoyo noticed how his sister was still too tired. He smiled and crouched down. Natsu opened her eyes a little and climbed onto his shoulders. Guess kageyama will be winning this race today. Shoyo looked up at the sky. It was a beautiful orangey colour that was gradually getting lighter and lighter. “You okay up there?” Shoyo asked his sister. She nodded and rested her head on his. She looked around her and took in the quiet scenery of the school. It was weird to see nobody here. She liked it. It made her feel all grown up.
“Hey Shoyo?”
“Hm?”
“Do you think... I could go to this school when I grow up?” Shoyo let out a little giggle.
“You can go to whatever school you want to Natsu. You can play volleyball... or cricket... or tennis.... whatever you want to do.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Sure enough as they were nearing the gym, the familiar colour of black whizzed past them. Only stopping and turning around once he had arrived.
“36/36... guess we tied.” Kageyama anounced proudly. Shoyo stuck his tongue out at the setter, who frowned slightly as he noticed the miniature hinata sitting on top of the taller hinata. “Who’s that?” Kageyama said, pointing to Natsu. Shoyo looked up slightly as Natsu started playing with his hair.
“She’s my little sister. She’s just going to be waiting for someone to pick her up whilst we play if that’s okay.” Natsu smiled and waved at Kageyama, who nodded a little hello back. Shoyo sat down so that Natsu could get down. Quickly, she sat in between Shoyo’s legs and started picking at stray weeds on the ground as the three of them waited for Tanaka to arrive with the keys. “Natsu... did you pack your toothbrush in your bag? And a pair of spare pyjamas?” Natsu nodded eagerly and opened her backpack that she had placed by her feet.
“Yep! Agane-san said we could go for pizza tonight. You can come if you want Shoyo! I’m sure she wouldn’t mind!” Shoyo shook his head and rustled through his bag, pulling out a Mars bar.
“Nah. You have a fun night with Koureki and Setsuko okay? Just don’t forget to tell them I said hi. Here. This is for your lunch.” Natsu’s eyes widened and Kageyama smiled a little at the exchange.
“Chocolate!? Wh-where did you get it!?” Natsu said as she looked as if she had never seen anything like it in her life.
“Haha... let’s just say I have really awesome senpais...”
“But... what about you? You don’t have that much for lunch... you even gave me that meat bun the other day...” Natsu said, her voice shrinking in worry. Shoyo gave a side glanced in worry at Kageyama. He didn’t know if the frown on his face was his normal face, or if he had registered what Natsu had said.
“Don’t worry about me. I got it for you. Are you excited to see me practice?” Natsu nodded excitedly and clapped with her hands.
“Yeah! It’s gonna be so cool Shoyo! You always practice really hard so iPad can’t wait to see you go shoom! And bam! And woosh!” Kageyama smiled a little at the little girl. She really is a hinata.
“You know he’s not the only one who’s cool on the court!” Kageyama, Natsu and Shoyo all turned to see Tanaka arriving with the keys flipping in his hands. “Man... I gotta start wakin’ up early if I’m gonna be here to open up before you guys get here.” Natsu shyly hugged Shoyo as Tanka bent down to greet her. “And who might you be? Are you here to try out for the team?” He joked. Natsu buried her head in Shoyo’s leg, causing her brother to laugh.
“Natsu! Since when did you get so nervous? This is Tanaka Ryonuuske. He’s one of the awesome senpais that I told you about.” Tanak held his thumb up and grinned
“Yep! I’m the best senpai ever! Ta-Na-Ka!” He said, emphasing each syllable of his name and earning a small giggle from Natsu. “Oh my god she’s cute!”
“Oi. Best senpai ever. Can we go in now? It’s cold.” Kageyama groaned gruffly, walking up the stairs to the locker room. Natsu took Shoyo’s hand and held it tightly. Shoyo grabbed her bag and led her to the gym that had just been unlocked. Natsu gawked at the size of the gymnasium. It was definitely much bigger than the one at her school. Plus it had a basket ball hoop.
“Hey Natsu. Why don’t you help me get everything out from the store cupboard whilst we wait for everyone to get here?” Shoyo asked as he pulled out the heavy poles for the net. Natsu nodded and skipped over to her brother.
Sure enough, soon everyone started arriving. And like Tanaka, they all fawned over how cute Natsu was in her little yellow boots and pig tails. When Kiyoko and Yachi arrived, she couldn’t help but marvel at how pretty they were.
“Two hinatas? The world must be ending...” Tsukishima growled as he watched Natsu get picked up by Tanaka and Nishinoya.
“Isn’t she cute though? I wonder if she’ll be just like hinata....” Yamaguchi added.
“Urgh... don’t add salt to the wound...” Tsukishima groaned whilst pushing his glasses up his nose and getting a frown from Shoyo.
“Okay everyone... we’re going to be measuring your jumps today so line up.” Coach Ukai called. Natsu skipped over to the line and stood by Shoyo, earning a giggle from everyone on the team.
“Uh, Natsu... why don’t you go stand over by Yachi... that way you’ll get a better view of me jumping...” Shoyo whispered, to which Natsu nodded shyly and jogged over to the blonde manager. Everyone coed as she beamed up at her brother, eager to watch him play.
“Okaaaay, Asamushi, go”
Asahi, at the sound of his name, ran up to the marker and with everything he had, jumped up to touch the glass of the basketball hoop. Kiyoko, with a measuring tape stood by and read out the measurement for Yachi to note down.
“308cm”. A loud ‘ooh’ sound rang out through the gym. Natsu noted that the tall man with the headband seemed happy, so she assumed that must have been good.
“Sawamura.”
“310cm.”
“Ennoshita”
“305cm
“Kinoshita”
“297cm”
“Tsukishima”
“334cm.”
“Narita”
“322cm.”
Name after name, each player ran from the starting line, to the marker, and then jumped as high as they could, whilst making sure that four of their fingers touched the glass. It was interesting to see each player having different heights, yet also very different score. Even Nishinoya, who was smaller than Shoyo, jumped to a height of 302cm, earning a round of applause from everyone.
“Kageyama.” Kageyama grinned as he looked up at the basketball hoop. I’m totally going to beat you Hinata... he thought as he got ready to sprint. Once he was given the boy, kageyama ran to the marker and jumped, slamming his four fingers down. Kiyoko, like she did for everyone else measured and called out the digits for Yachi to note, smiling as she did so. “337cm”
“Woah! Kageyama! That’s your highest one yet!”
“Yeah your jump score improved by three centimetres! So cool!”
“I wished I jumped high like that...” Kageyama spun around and raised his eyebrow at Shoyo. As if to say try and beat me you idiot. Hinata smiled and looked over at Natsu. My turn now.
“Hinata. You’re up.” Hinata stood at the starting line and smiled at Natsu, who gave him a thumbs up. He knew that this jump was just an exercise... but a part of him wanted to show off for Natsu. Just to show her what he could do. What her brother could do. On the sound of go, he sprinted to the marker, dug his foot into the ground and jumped as high as he could. As he did so, Natsu’s eyes widened in shock and wonder.
“333cm.” Once he landed, a large applause coming from Natsu sounded, making Shoyo smile even wider.
“Woah Shoyo! You jumped so high! That’s so cool! My brother is so cool!” Natsu shouted jumping up and down with excitement.
-
As practice finished, Natsu pulled her coat on and grabbed her backpack. Setsuko Agane had come to pick up Natsu. She smiled as Natsu ran up to her and gave her a huge hug. Kageyama, Daichi, Yachi, Suga and Narita watched as Shoyo walked over to say hi and help Natsu get settled into the car.
“I’m guessing you had fun watching your brother huh?” Setsuko asked as Natsu put her seat belt on.
“Oh it was so cool! You should have seen it! He was like bam! And boom! And zoom! He jumped so high and hit everything really hard!”
“Yep. She totally is a Hinata all right.” Narita commented as Kageyama threw a volleyball up and down on the gym steps.
“She seems so cute. Hinata sure is lucky to have a sister.” Yachi commented.
“Hm... I’d say Natsu is more likely the lucky one.” Suga said as he remembered the conversation he had with Shoyo the day before... when Shoyo had picked the blossom branch for her.
“I’d feel bad for them to be honest.” Kageyama muttered, earning a hit to the arm from Daichi.
“Thanks again for looking after Natsu for the week. I can’t really leave her at home on her own after all, and I would stay but I have that training week in Tokyo....” Shoyo said whilst looking at Natsu and how happily she was chatting to Koureki in the car.
“Nonsense! I’m happy to help you and it’s always a pleasure anyway to have Natsu over. Hey, why don’t you come eat with us tonight?” Shoyo shook his head.
“As much as I want to... I can’t tonight... I... I just” he frowned as he tried to find the words that would properly explain what he was thinking.
“No... I get it. You need a night to yourself. You deserve it too!” Setsuko said smiling. “How’s Amaya?” Shoyo rubbed the back of his neck and winced at the question...
“She... well... she’s okay.... I guess. She’s working a lot more now which is good... I mean”
“I meant how is she treating you, Shoyo.” Shoyo sighed. At this, Suga, Daichi and kageyama listened closely. Perhaps we can finally find out what’s going on with Hinata... Suga thought to himself. “I know she can get quite... tough with you... so I just wanted to make sure you were okay. That you were safe...”
Are you safe hinata? Suga remembered the question he had asked. He had worded it in a way that would show Shoyo that people cared for him... that he wasn’t alone. He spared a glance at Daichi, he who had the same frown he did.
“Things.... have been okay.... they’ve been tolerable...” Shoyo sighed loudly and ruffled his fair with his hands. “I don’t know... I’m just trying to do what I can. Lately she’s been getting a bit more aggressive than usual but I can manage.”
“Shoyo... you shouldn’t be just managing... it’s bad enough that she’s verbally agressive but physically? She shouldn’t be hitting her children.”
Time seemed to stop for Daichi and Suga. Even Kageyama stopped throwing the ball up and down. Narita and Yachi didn’t seem to hear but for the other three... they could feel their blood running cold.
“I... I know... I’m just happy.... that she hasn’t gotten to Natsu yet. I don’t really care what she does to me... I just.... I can’t let her touch Natsu.”
“Have you spoken to your teachers?”
“No.... not yet... but I plan to... eventually.... I just.... I need to hold off for a bit longer. Just until Natsu grows up.” Setsuko turned around and smiled at Natsu in the car. “We did talk about it... but she was mostly nervous about being separated from me. It’s probably the best thing for her but... I promised I’d protect her. So that’s what I’m going to do.” Shoyo clenched his fists tightly and looked down, his hair hiding his eyes and the tears that were starting to form. If I was just stronger.... If I wasn’t so.... useless.... if I was braver.... maybe Natsu would be able to be happy....
“She’s lucky to have you, you know...” Setsuko smiled and rested a hand on Shoyo’s shoulder. “And it’s not a bad thing to tell someone. Even if it’s a friend.” Shoyo gulped a little and nodded. As Setsuko started the car, he gave one final hug to Natsu, to which she proceeded to wave through the back window when the car sped off into the distance.
Behind him, Suga and Daichi were talking quietly to each other, with Kageyama listening in.
“It seems we were right about Hinata...” Suga whispered quietly as to not raise anymore suspicion with Yachi or Narita. Daichi nodded.
“We now know this is a lot bigger than either one of us thought. It’s going to be complicated...”
“Should we tell Takeda? Ukai?” Kageyama asked quietly. Daichi shook his head.
“If we tell him, Hinata will know that someone was listening in. That may make him feel more uncomfortable and he could end up resenting us. On the other hand, we don’t want this getting any worse that it it.” He sighed and rubbed his temples. “If the teachers get involved...”
“It has to come from hinata, correct?” Suga added, to which Daichi nodded.
Hinata ran as fast as he could to the only class he really cared about: English.
Now... it was time for the test.
-
“You may begin... Now.”
The schools exams for English for classes 4-6 were in the same classroom. It was easier to split the 6 classes of the first year into two groups to make sure that nobody was cheating. As soon as Shoyo had gotten his paper, he had made sure that he was completely calm. Even going as far as to slipping a melting gum drop into his mouth as a timer to read the paper. Before the exam had started, Nanami had sent him a text wishing him good luck. It surprised him, but he was grateful because he could focus and remember everything that she had taught him. Each tick of the clock sent shivers down his spine. But, he thought back at all the techniques he had been taught recently and soon found himself not panicking. Once the test had been completed however, Shoyo breathed a sigh of relief. Tomorrow, he’d find out if he passed or not.... but a feeling told him that he wasn’t going to be disappointed.
As he exited the classroom, sure enough, Nanami was waiting for him.
“How did you do!?” Shoyo smiled and held a thumbs up, she squeezed and threw her arms around his neck making him blush a little. For some reason, he didn’t like being so close to Nanami. She wasn’t a bad person... it was just uncomfortable to think about him and her in any way other than friends. “I’m so glad! Well I guess that’s it for our tutoring sessions then! Unless of course... you’re still interested in continuing them until the finals?” Nanami asked whilst fluttering her eyelashes in a cute manner.
Shoyo nodded. “Definitely! I really appreciated the help! Everything seemed so much cleared when you explained it! I’d love to continue working together!” Nanami giggled and clapped her hands.
“Brilliant! I’m so happy you feel that way Shoyo! Anyway, I have class so I’ll see you later!” Shoyo smiled and waved back, before turning around to walk with Kageyama and Yamaguchi, who had also finished. On the way, they met up with Yachi. Nanami frowned as she watched Yachi and Hinata smiling together. It bothered her that they were both going to Tokyo together...
Nanami sighed and began walking to her own respected class, her hands in fists beside her and swinging in time with every step that she took. Oh Hitoka... how you really shouldn’t cross me...
