Wednesday ship analysis
Wednesday x Edid
This is by far the most popular ship in the Wednesday fandom, and although I think that Wednesday and Edid would be cute together, I don’t see that much chemistry. The best friends to lovers/gothy girl x pinky golden retriever/ roommates trope is adorable and I adore all the fanart of them, but i think that they would be better off as friends.
Wednesday x Tyler
Honestly I didn’t like them together even before Tyler was revealed as the Hyde. I didn’t see much chemistry, and the little feelings that Wednesday had for him I viewed as comphet, and I never really liked Tyler that much anyways.
Wednesday x Xavier
I like this one more than Tyler and Wednesday, but I still feel like the feelings are one sided. I think that their friendship is awesome, but I don’t want them together romantically.
Wednesday x Rowan
Apparently this is a thing??? I don’t see the chemistry here. Ya’ll really just be shipping Wednesday with literally any character in the show. rowan literally tried to kill her.
Wednesday x Eugene
The worst Wednesday ship imo. Wednesday canonically said that Eugene reminds her of her brother. Their friendship is everything tho.
Wednesday x Bianca
Honestly I think this one is adorable and super underrated. The way Bianca opens up to Wednesday at the Rave’N? Adorable. Honestly I’m surprised this ship isn’t getting the hype it deserves, plus enemies to lovers let’s goooo
Aroace Wednesday
I feel like this is plausible, but I feel like people have a problem with head canoning every cold and emotionless characters as aroace and I think it’s becoming a bit of a stereotype (don’t come at me for this)

tyler galpin u little red flag of a bitch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey hey hey what the fuck???? and the thing is we know if wednesday really wanted to she would sneak tf out to wherever but she doesnt want to. her instinctive reaction to tylers date idea is NO. she has things to do and places to be and she literally does not care. she literally only schedules a "date" with him in the prev episode because she needed him to drive her and it was thing who asked tyler to the dance for her. she did not want to be there.
get the memo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wednesday!! addams!!! does!!!! not!!!!! CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also the red flags?? tyler when she says she has things to do respect that. like 2 seconds ago she was telling u she couldnt be around u bcs of ur dad when we know for a fact wednesday doesnt care about rules if she wants something. imo wednesdays reaction to tyler sitting next to her and still giving a fuck about her was triggered two things: a) the enid debacle because now she was supposed to "enjoy her solitude" and she couldnt because she liked having a (girl)friend. whether she admitted it or not. but she tried to w things like pushing tyler away and denying enids impact on her. b) she was guilty for putting them in danger, and i do think she cares about tyler somewhat as of now. just not romantically, and shes pushing him away because she doesnt like the guilt of putting him (and enid) in danger
just my thoughts tho :D

One thing that stood out to me in Wednesday (specifically I realised this during the dance in episode 4) was that as much as she was very obviously Different and Other and Weird™, no one really disengaged with her because of that strangeness?
Again, this stood out to me during the dance scene specifically, wherein yes, she danced very oddly compared to everyone else there. And yes, people definitely noticed, and we do know what a lot of them most likely thought. But despite that, the most they seemed to do is smile at her, and if they were around her they backed away and gave her space so she could keep going. Yes, she is Strange and Other even in a group of those who are Strange and Other, but no one is disengaging with her because of that.
It's just really nice to see.

My theory about Tyler and his backstory. Spoiler warning:
I’ll have to rewatch the later episodes to remind myself, but from what I remember, he didn’t know that his mother was a Hyde until Thornhill told him, right? He thought she was bipolar? So that would mean that he didn’t know that he himself was one either, and probably didn’t even know what a Hyde was in the first place. So, because Thornhill unleashed the monster in him - literally by using chemical injections - and manipulated him, she was completely at fault here, and 100% is to blame for Tyler committing the horrific murders. If she hadn’t concocted that plan to resurrect Crackstone, then she wouldn’t have needed Tyler, and therefore he wouldn’t have surrendered to his Hyde side. Didn’t that book (the diary? I forget. The book that explained Hydes) say that they’re mostly manifested by chemicals, hypnosis, or traumatic events? None of which would have happened if Thornhill hadn’t used him. If you watch the confession in the police station at the end, he seems to come out of a trance and look guilty and teary eyed right afterwards. It’s my theory that Thornhill had forced him to tell Wednesday that he enjoyed killing those people, so that Wednesday would lose her trust in him and not get in the way of her plans of resurrection. Even if he wasn’t physically transformed into the Hyde at the time, he still seemed affected by his master.
All this to say: Tyler is a victim of brainwashing, abuse, manipulation, and torture, and I hope he gets a redemption arc in season 2, because I’m sure the real Tyler is a lot like who he was trying to come across as to Wednesday, the sweet barista who set up a thoughtful romantic date and spent a week trying to perfect his latte art for her.
Also, when asked if Tyler had actual feelings for Wednesday or if it was all a lie, Hunter did say (and I’m paraphrasing) “how could he not? He didn’t know who she was when she first walked into the Weathervane…” which is true.
Again, I’ll have to go back and rewatch but do we know if the killings started well before Wednesday arrived at Nevermore? How would Thornhill have known that she was going to attend the school, since it seemed like Wednesday’s enrollment was so sudden because of the piranha incident? Why would the killings have started before Wednesday arrived at the school, if she was the key to Crackstone’s resurrection?
I’m rambling now, and I’m tired so I don’t know if this post even makes any sense. Hopefully it does…

Let me just start by saying I LOVED Wednesday. The show is fun, creepy, mysterious, kooky, and yes, sometimes even spooky. But that's not what this post is about.
*****SPOILERS AHEAD*****
I just wanted to point out that I think what people can't put their finger on what feels off about the show is that the plot treats Wednesday like a normal protagonist. It gives her a bubblegum pop bff, a love interest, another love interest, an innocent to motivate herself by (bee boy), a rival queen bee, mommy issues, automatic popularity, and bureaucracy that gets in her way.
But the thing is, Wednesday's just trying to do her own thing. SEVERAL TIMES she tells people POINT BLANK that she doesn't understand why they expect her to understand the signals/cues they're sending her. When Enid is crying on the roof, Wednesday doesn't comfort her the way Enid needs because she doesn't know her yet and Enid gets more upset. When Tyler tells her she's "sending all these signals" she's not guilty, she's confused. When she's confronting Xavier about why he might be the Hyde, she says he hasn't hurt her because "for some inexplicable reason, he seems to like her". Time and time again, characters show interest in her because she's the protagonist so she SHOULD get all the attention. She's the titular character!
But Wednesday isn't really meant to be a protagonist in the normal sense. She isn't written for a mysterious teen romance, she's written for a more mature Nancy Drew kind of plot. And don't get me wrong!! I'll take what the show ended up being. It was fun, there was a lot of character development, and it was overall well written for the plot it came up with. And I loved the other characters! I just wanted to point out why I thought it was a little off, and everyone kind of noticed the same thing, so here it is. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk 👍

Hi! You wish for more about an analysis about Tyler then you shall receive, Tyler cares about his mother and he bullied outcasts with his friends to cope with her death he blames them, especially after learning about how nevermore denied having his mother in nevermore because she was a Hyde. He gains a sadistic side after unlocking his Hyde and likes taking out his feelings that he kept inside away from his father, friends and everyone else he took it on the nevermore students who hurt his mother like that. He does have a dark side but in the season two trailer he seems to have some kind of regret it could be a act but still. especially in the beginning was so confused when he woke up naked and covered in blood next to a dead body, he was brainwashed and tortured by laurel. He doesn’t seem to like her but does like the concept of her wishes. He has no choice but to be loyal to her and he seemed very scared towards laurel in the torture scene. But he did have some kind of attraction towards Wednesday especially in the beginning, when he first met her in the weathervane but upon learning Wednesday is a Addams and a nevermore student he choose to play with her feelings and get her to trust him. He acted but he still had some kind of attraction towards her he was entertained and interested by her way of doing things. However he had trouble controlling his Hyde even then he had about it he has killed a couple of normies (the hiker and a couple others) but that’s when he wasn’t in control. He hates nevermore because of the way they treated his mother. He still could be saved since he was a kind boy until his Hyde side but I guess we’ll have to see
No but you're SUPER RIGHT
Tyler was heavily abused and is copying with a LOT of trauma; I guess he should free himself from Laurel, somehow, and then deal with the whole Hyde and his mother situation. I once read that he doesn't need a redemption arc but a healing one, and that's exactly it! About Wednesday...well, I don't think she could forgive him super easily but with some good writing they can get along (I mean, I still think he's better than Xavier)
Tyler is a complex character and I'm excited to see more of him in season two(I might be in love with Hunter Doohan too lol)
Thanks for sharing your analysis, i loved it so much! I kinda did a similar thing in my fic, I developed Tyler alongside with Xavier. Anyway, you can take a look into it if you want, The Hunt is mainly focused on these two. Here's the guide
A kiss for you, anon🧡

So are we gonna talk about how wenclair also makes the most sense in terms of Wednesday’s morals?
Wednesday is shown to be someone who cares greatly about outcasts and about their place in the world. She nearly sacrifices herself to fight Joseph Crackstone and save the school, she seems to be upset at the notion of being the reason people at the school are hurt. She’s very clearly enraged by the way Goody is treated and by the outcasts being executed in the barn.
Tyler: Tyler was raised with a very negative view on outcasts, and that was only fueled by Thornhill. He already hated them before Thornhill even came along, and now he hates them even more, to the point of willingly going along with a genocide plot. While we don’t know his true intentions, as of now they don’t make much sense together, given that Wednesday seems to hold the treatment of outcasts fairly high on her list of things she’s upset about.
Xavier: I have a feeling that because Xavier is a psychic and his father is rich/famous, he doesn’t have to worry about things that other outcasts have to worry about. Maybe this is just a writer thing, because I find it weird he wouldn’t be more fired up about it given that he was literally hatecrimed, but when Wednesday opens up to him about what she saw and is clearly upset about it, his response is essentially “so?”. He very clearly doesn’t care about things like the unfair treatment of outcasts unless it directly affects him.
Enid: Then you have Enid. A werewolf. She can’t shift, but she has claws that make it hard for her to visually hide that she’s an outcast. She’s one of the outcasts directly affected by the fact that she can’t hide who she is, one of the most likely to be hunted and/or hatecrimed as well, since werewolves would be viewed as violent creatures (probably why they have the Lupin cages). She’s more similar to Wednesday. Untrusting of normies, likely stemming from a fear of being hatecrimed or the dislike of them knowing that they have hatecrimed people in the past.
In terms of morals and senses of political justice, Enid aligns the most with Wednesday. Of course hate can be unlearned and a sense of justice can be taught, but as the three love interests stand, Enid makes the most sense.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk 🙏

hints that Larissa Weems didn't actually have a crush on Gomez but had a crush on Morticia instead:
#1 her strong feelings for Morticia
...which are presented as resentment, jealousy and bitterness, feelings that could easily result from misinterpreting a serious crush you have on a person
meanwhile she doesn't seem to have any strong feelings about Gomez at all
on the contrary, in one scene she even seems to belittle him or express a certain indifference towards him:
in this scene Gomez doesn't understand what Weems and Morticia are talking about and while Morticia is very gentle with him as always Weems' reaction seems a little arrogant and she seems to even be mocking him a bit
watch:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this somewhat condescending reaction to Gomez not understanding what they're talking about is very interesting because it is actually somewhat out of character for Weems. She's usually not cocky or arrogant but in this scene she shows a certain disdain towards Gomez. And I interpret this as her being like "omg this man is so stupid and simple, how could Morticia choose him over me??"
sure, them being at Nevermore was 30 years prior to the plot of "Wednesday"
so you could just say Gomez was a teenage crush she quickly overcame and now she doesn't care about him anymore and even realizes that he is way too simple for her
but if that's the case, then WHY does she still have this strong feeling of sourness for Morticia? she obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all so if it was him she had a crush on why would she still be hanging on to so much bitterness towards Morticia?
I mean, the whole scene just SCREAMS "omg Morticia how could you favor this guy over me" and definitely not "omg Gomez how could you favor Morticia over me"
seriously, go and watch that scene again
it's at the beginning of episode 5
and I think it's so obvious there that Weems thinks very little of Gomez and doesn't understand how Morticia could choose him over her
#2 her reaction to Wednesday playing the cello
Weems has such a strong reaction to Wednesday playing the cello and the show focuses on the mother-daughter-relationship between Wednesday and Morticia which makes me think that Weems' reaction is supposed to be a hint that she is reminded of Morticia playing the cello and that there is another similarity between Wednesday and her mother. If that is the case and Weems is reminded of Morticia when she hears Wednesday playing her reaction is... telling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#3 Gomez and Weems would be no match AT ALL
there is absolutely ZERO chemistry between Weems and Gomez
like zero
I mean sure, again, 30 years ago and that is a long time but still... wouldn't there be some kind of... I don't know, connection? at least a little bit? but there's zero
Meanwhile Weems and Morticia:
the tension
the teasing
the looks they give each other
"stately sequoia tree" "lumberjack"
the fact that Morticia has "ALWAYS ADORED that biting sense of humor"
the sense of humor that, by the way, we ONLY get to see when Morticia is present
the fact that Weems talks to Wednesday about Morticia nonstop, like seriously, she talks about Morticia all day and doesn't even mention Gomez once
#4 Morticia and Weems were close
Not only wErE tHeY rOoMmAtEs (oh my god they were roommates) but there are several other indications that they were very close at the time:
Weems knows about the visions Morticia had and says that she remembers that Morticia thought she might be losing her mind at first... a very personal and private matter that Morticia probably didn't discuss with many people
they participated in the Poe Cup together, Morticia as captain and Weems as co-pilot
Morticia saying that they had good times together... Weems doesn't agree that they were always good for her but they definitely were close at the time and spent time together not only as roommates
they did a duet for the Solstice Talent Show, a fact that I LOVE btw
#5 the fact that Weems cares so much about Wednesday
all her students are important to Weems and she always does what she thinks is best for Nevermore but she seems to have a special interest in helping Wednesday to fit in and find some friends
she forgives Wednesday many times even though she always breaks the rules
Weems seems to have a soft spot for Wednesday and would she have that for the daughter of her former rival if there really were only negative feelings for said rival? Why would she care for Wednesday that much (more than she already cares for each one of her students) if she really hated Morticia and obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all?
wouldn't make any sense
IN CONCLUSION: they are wives
thanks for coming to my ted talk

No, but can we talk about how when Enid asks the rest of the Nightshades where Wednesday is after she comes back from the woods and no one knows what to answer to her, and they all look away, she immediately looks at them with pure disgust.
Like, Enid's look is completely heartbroken for a couple of seconds, but then she looks at all of them with hatred, as if she was trying to ask how could they leave Wednesday alone?!
Here, let me show you ->
Tumblr media
First, she steps away from Ajax and just there is so much incredulity and disgust in her eyes.
And then she just looks away for a second, and you can see the hope in her eyes as if she just wishes for Wednesday to somehow appeared through the gates.
Tumblr media
And when she actually sees Wednesday, she first steps closer in disbelief, afraid that her mind is playing her tricks or something, but then - once she confirms that it is indeed Wednesday - you can feel the happiness and complete relief irradiating from her.
Tumblr media
And don't even make me talk about the hug and the reaction from everyone in the back.
Like the sheer happiness and love that Enid and Wednesday show in that scene, and everyone in the back just smiling softly at the both of them and not really making eye contact, as if feeling they are intruding in a private moment (and let's face it, they are. Wednesday would never let her guard down in front of the whole school if it wasn't for the emotional and physical trauma she just went through).
Here, let me show you what I mean again ->
Tumblr media
Like, see in the back how Yoko and Xavier are smiling softly and looking at the ground, and Ajax is also smiling.
Tumblr media
And Divina's soft smile and Kent's grin.
Tumblr media
And here, Yoko smiling happily because Enid is her best friend, and she loves her, and she loves seeing her friend happy. But also Ajax looking at who I think is Xavier, like smiling softly but also a little bit resigned? As if he knew that Enid and his relationship is not going to last much longer.
Tumblr media
AND WEDNESDAY CLOSING HER EYES AND BREATHING DEEPLY WHEN SHE HUGS ENID, AND ENID MAKING THE HUG TIGHTER AND ALSO CLOSING HER EYES AND SIGHING.
The point of this post is to show that Emma Meyers, Jenna Ortega and the whole cast are amazing actors, and they know what they are doing.
And also --- Wenclair endgame.
*Disclaimer -- special thanks to Netflick on Youtube for providing the scene :)

Episode 2x10 of the Addams Family, "Gómez, the reluctant lover" is absolutely BONKERS. It's so kinky. There is consensual cuckoldry in this episode, out in the open. There is light BDSM at the end. It's amazing.
So there's this lady that falls in love with Gómez, right? One of Pugsley's teachers in fact. And she thinks is reciprocated!
So Gómez wants to tell her no. He has to let her down gently...
But Morticia won't let him!!!
Tumblr media
She wants him to... well, you know. She asks Gómez to do it. Just do it, go on, be a man! Do it!
Gómez doesn't want to. That would be cheating!
Tumblr media
But Morticia is very persuasive.
Tumblr media
!!!!!
And Gómez is a very good boy, so he says he'll do it.
Tumblr media
"I'll fuck that woman silly, Tish. For you"
But never forget: Morticia is the boss here. She sets the rules and the limits:
Tumblr media
I'M HOLLERING.
So Gómez goes and does the deed with this poor lady that's in love with him or whatever.
But he goes crazy! He's too horny! He doesn't OBEY! Morticia says stop and he doesn't stop! Bad boy!!
So they have a chat afterwards... And it's just bonkers. I wish I knew how to make gifs. Screenshots for one of the horniest things I've seen in black and white:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean.
They aired this in the 60s. I'm speechless. And a little hot tbh.
Let's bring this energy back to the Addams Family, please.

Huge missed opportunity here, when Saul could have said that Robin’s power was “handy”.
And I in no way want to excuse Ohara’s local population of brats, but given the nature of Robin’s power it’s really easy to see how she was ostracized by her community. Her Devil Fruit power is straight-up body horror, and Robin’s aunt doesn’t seem to be the type who would tell the neighbors what a nice, intelligent, well-behaved child her niece is.
A later SBS also expands on this a little by getting into how Robin has always had trouble expressing herself, which is one of the reasons she’s often so quiet.
Tumblr media
I can only see this as being more pronounced as a kid, when she’s out there getting her doctorate at the same time her peers are still learning their times tables.
All this to say, while Robin was a sweet kid who definitely deserved better, she was also weird as hell, and even in the best circumstances I think it would have been hard for her to make friends
