Let's write a dw episode and choose some companions for the 13th Doctor (step 2B)

We are writing a dw episode with the 9th, the 10th and the 13th Doctor and are currently figuring out their respective companions.

The last poll determined that most people want the companion of the thirteenth Doctor to come from her own era. So, in the 'A' poll (can be found in the reblogs, soon) l present some options from that era.

There were however, quite a few people who wanted a Pond Era companion. Because I love that we will choose some of those companions in this poll.

Once both polls are analysed you will then get to put together your companion team from the most popular options!

If I forgot someone vital, please let me know in the tags and they might just make it into the final round ;)

so I have portal 2 oc’s, I have had them for a while and I just wanna introduce you to…a few because I have so many

(Credit to Azure for making most of the info on these along with me for so many years. Basically y’all go spam her with “GOOD JOB DEALING WITH MINTY’S SHIT!!”)

Jonathan: started out as a joke. He’s Wheatley’s evil twin brother who has sociopathic tendencies. We HC that he was processed with Wheatley when the whole core situation happened and that was Jon being evil, not Wheatley. He looks just like Wheatley, like EXACTLY like him. It’s so bad that Chell can’t tell the difference between the two which has started quite a few shenanigans.

Amelia: again, was originally a joke. Rick the adventure cores wife. She matches him in personality and she very thicc. Like lady is curvy. She got them hips and they don’t lie. She got long dark brown hair and gray eyes. She was originally a thief and met Rick when she tried to steal his stuff. (Dw I also have an au where Rick is with Craig)

Abby: Wheatley’s little sister. She was born without legs so she’s in a wheelchair. She’s very spunky and can’t cook to save her life. She can bake tho! In contrast to Wheatley who can’t bake to save his life. She has dark red hair and so many freckles. She’s best friends with Craig and tends to get him into trouble he doesn’t want

DW SERIES 6

We did it boys.

The series premiere was a bit disappointing (and confusing and convoluted) but well, um, we watched it.

"You're trying to turn me into you."

Best episode(s): It's a tie! Between The Girl Who Waited and Closing Time.

TGWW had an amazing concept and setting (I freaking LOVE the idea of the Two Streams Hospital!) And my god the character writing was on POINT. Best moment and the moment that rocked me to my core had to be where Rory told the Doctor

I mean, damn. That's on par with series 1's "You would make a good Dalek." And not to mention, this episode holds no punches. (Neither did The God Complex, but this one is a better episode in my opinion) when it comes to how manipulative the Doctor can be. 11 can be a goofy, silly little guy but at his core? Cold ass mother fucker.

And I LOVE that. It shows how fucked the events in series 2-4 made him. Time Lord Victorious does things to a mf.

Closing Time is not a super deep episode but it is funny and charming. And I could not stop smiling while watching it. I love Craig. I just do. I love how he's not even a companion but he's aware of what's going on with the Doctor. I love how the Doctor and him have this weird partnership going on and neither of them are like "ew gross" when they're mistaken for a couple. I love how it's implied that Craig actually *really likes* the Doctor (bicon!). I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the scenes with the Doctor and Alfie, especially with the galaxy lights. I'm using that in fanfiction, make my words. This episode was just fun. Simple as that. A nice little one off.

Also the part when the Doctor saw Amy and Rory from afar, that was really sweet. 🥺

I LOVE the relationship between the Doctor and the "human" TARDIS in this episode, it is so damn adorable. And the episode was written by Neil Gaiman! Yay!

Best thing about this episode? It's reminiscent of RTD Era present day Earth episodes. And God, I missed them!

Most surprising episode: The Doctor's Wife.

Look at that title. Look at the title and tell me what you expected this episode to be about. It's not! It's not that! Rory punches two Nazis, including Hitler but it's a fucking River Song centric episode. Lame. So fucking lame. Also that ending. Ugh....

Most Disappointing: Let's Kill Hilter.

We get 11 in coat and tails and a top hat though so not a complete loss.

The Wedding of River Song and A Good Man Goes To War.

Worst Episode(s): Another tie...

First, I'll say that the series finale is better than Big Bang. Because I could actually follow what was going on for the most part and it kinda(?) made sense(?) But besides that?

UUUGGGHHHH. So bad. So much bad.

At least i know what the hand tying thing looks like now. So I can use it in fanfiction. But I'd like to point some things out. Rivers statement about how no one loves the Doctor "no more than me"? Fuck. You. 1, nice assumption. 2, The TARDIS would like to know your location. Ugh, I HATED that line!

Also, also! This nice, romantic scene? ABSOLUTE MANIPULATION. The Doctor 'married' River to basically be like "There, I'm your husband now. Do what I say." Fuck this fucking scene. This romance. This plot line, END ME.

A Good Man Goes to War, is not as bad, but still pretty awful. Yet again, amazing title, terrible execution.

We got to meet some neat characters! ...and they're all dead. (But I'm assuming we learn more about them in other episodes)

I went into this knowing who Melody Pond/River Song is. But my partner didn't. So when it was revealed who she is, my partner's response was the following-

"EWWWWWW."

And that's all I have to say about that. Also River being conceived on the TARDIS gave her Mary-Sue Time Lord powers and Rose literally absorbing the Time Vortex did what...? Nothing?

Please no. I want Bad Wolf Theory to be true. please.

Compared to last series that really only had 1 episode that felt was worth the watch and was actually really amazing, series 6 had a few that I genuinely enjoyed but everything else was either meh or FUCKING AWFUL.

Series Rating- 6/10

So overall better series but Flesh and Stone doesn't hold a candle to the awful/awkwardness that is The Wedding of River Song.

Series 7 next. We already watched The Asylum of The Daleks which was a lot better of a series premiere than The Impossible Astronaut. (BTW, if I haven't mentioned it, I really could not care less about this era's overarching plot.)

Not looking forward to Day of The Doctor. Just being honest. I feel like the scenes between 11 and 10 will be fun but ill just be thinking about how

Rose is here despite not being her and Moffat not liking her unless he can use her as a plot device

But the two twinks interacting will definitely help in the crack fic I want to write.

I proper slept in, but I'm now watching the new episode of TLOU, and as alwayssss THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT (OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS)

Their encounter with the hunters feels SO much like a game level, I love it.

daaamn I was not expecting ellie to shoot someone this early on

Ngl, I really appreciate seeing the hunters have some human moments. I hope they continue to do this with their enemy characters in the show, bc hopefully it'll lead the viewers to see Joel's actions through more of a critical lens, hopefully escaping some of that toxicity we saw from some fans when the second game was released. (disclaimer. I love joel sm, but something I appreciated seeing in TLOU2 was how we were reminded that he'd done shitty things, and that those things affected other people and had consequences)

Ok I LOVE how they changed Joel's reaction to Ellie having to shoot the guy. In the game, his reaction was moer fueled by anger, whereas here, he acknowledges that she's just a kid and she shouldn't have been in that position to begin with.

I love love love Ellie's excitement to have Joel's approval for the gun. ITS SO CUTE.

SAM AND HENRY SAM AND HENRY SAM AND HENRY

okay overall thoughts: was this my favourite episode so far? Not necessarily, no. But I love seeing Joel opening up more, you can see the change just from the beginning to the end of the episode, and it's done really well. The last scene especially was really sweet, and I can't wait to see more of those moments. We got to know a liiiiil more about his backstory, which is cool, because in the game we don't necessarily know much beyond "yeah joel did some fucked up shit." and that's really the only info we ever get. Like I mentioned above, I also liked seeing the hunters have some human moments. Now listen, I'm the biggest joel miller apologist, but I'm also one of the people who really loved TLOU part 2. I hope we'll get to see the "bad guys" have more moments like that.

Also so fucking typical that the second I give tess a bio, we get more info that means I have to alter things slightly, and maybe even do some MATH.

Doctor Who Rankings: Moffat's Era: Eleven Doctor

The ranking of the season is: Season 6, Season 5, Season 7.

Season 5

The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone. Weeping Angels are my all time favorite villains, them and the Daleks. This story is the best story with the Angels, after Blink. I like when they talk through the dead soldier. It's scary and creepy and it hurts. To know that a young scared boy just died and an Angel is using him to talk with the Doctor. To scare the Doctor and the others. To gloat about its victory. I love how slow the Doctor is to figure out that all he statues are angles. How he speaks about the aliens on that planet having two heads until he finally figures it out. And it's too late cause they're too far into the maze and they can't go back. Amy having an Angel in her brain gives a nice spike of adrenaline here and there. We know she won't die, but not knowing how she'll be saved kept my attention and my worry high. Definitely the best episode of the season.

The Pandora Opens / The Big Bang I love this season finale. Probably my favorite of Smith's run. The way Rory's presence should have been a red flag, but the Doctor was just so relieved seeing him that he didn't really stop to think why he was there. River as Cleopatra is hilarious. All the enemies of the Doctor united against him is frankly terrifying. Again I knew everything was going to be okay in the end, but still terrifying. I love how they solved things in The Big Bang. Eleven zapping around his own timeline was fun to watch, River killing the Daleks was refreshing. I like how she isn't the typical DW companion. Companions are usually the merciful part of the Doctor, the ones that remind them how to be kind and human and compassionate. River is strong is vengeful and she is shown being merciless. I love her. The moment when Rory kills Amy is heartbreaking. They are the best romance in NewWho hands down. Amy bringing back the Doctor only remembering him is maybe a bit of an easy way out. But I've seen worse.

Victory of the Daleks. Have I mentioned how much I love the Daleks? Cause I do. Love them. So much. And see them serving tea to Winston Churchill was beyond hilarious. Seeing how everyone ignored Eleven's warnings cause winning the war was the only thing that matter and screw any potential danger. Using this powerful weapon was more important than listening to the bright person screaming danger in your face. I found the Dalek's robot really cute. How they used the memories of his first crush to keep him human, how ultimately the feelings are what make you human and not biology. And I love that they let him live. I imagine him happy with his love.

The Eleventh Hour As far are first episodes for a regeneration go this is probably the best. I honestly liked it more than The Christmas Invasion. I like how energetic Eleven was even if he just came out of a regeneration. I like how he is with little Amelia. And I think it's hilarious how easy it is for Amy to fool the Doctor into thinking she is a real cop. When I saw Number One from the Umbrella Academy being busted while he was looking porn I laughed. And I love how the Doctor actually called the aliens back and scared them away even if he could have simply let them go.

Vincent and the Doctor I admit the biggest reason I like this episode is because of Vincent Van Gogh. The story is pretty boring, incredibly sad when the creature dies scared, but ultimately boring and predictable. But Vincent is such a good character that the rules the whole episode. The end was heartbreaking. Both the moment with Vincent in the museum realising that he was going to be appreciated and Amy running in it thinking she would find more paintings only to discover that in the end he had killed himself anyway.

The Lodger It's probably one of the silliest episodes of the NewWho. The story is nothing special, maybe a bit boring. But I really like James Corden and Craig's dynamic with the Doctor is hilarious. And him and Sophie are so cute. It's like Boom Town in season one. Episodes that aren't special but I just like them so they have an higher spot than they probably deserve

The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood The story was interesting. Exploring how humanity would act toward their prisoner and everything. But I just lost interest in it by the end of the first episode, maybe before. The only thing I really remember about it is Rory's death and the Doctor's reaction, his desperate try to keep Rory alive in Amy's memory. Seeing Rory die and then be erased from time was just so hard and heartbreaking.

The Beast Below Not a bad episode, but just really forgettable for me. Seeing people chose to forget cause they want to keep living was interesting. I don't know what I would have done but in the end probably our will to survive is more important and more pronounced that our morality. In the end it's sad how humans just assumed that they had to torture the wale to make it help, when in truth it was offering and it would have helped anyway.

Amy's Choice This episode is so useless that while writing this list I completely forgot it existed, you have to thank Wikipedia if it made the list. It's not as bad as Vampire of Venice, but close enough.

Let's write a dw episode together! (nuwho, companions for 9 poll)

We're writing a multidoctor episode with the ninth, the tenth and the thirteenth Doctor as decided by the last poll! Let's get to choosing some companions (for more info on that check below the poll. Or vote with your gut, whatever you fancy :) )

Alright, I could have made this easy and given all of you some options for each Doctor that make sense. Or make you choose between the most popular companions and assign them to the Doctors myself. But I thought 'Why not go overboard?'

So you get to choose a companion era for each Doctor (see in the poll above) and then in the next round, I will give you some characters from that era to choose between. Which means you can technically give a doctor a companion they don't know yet. Or you could choose the same companion for more than one Doctor. Dw canon is flexible and there are mind wipes and timeline confusion and stuff - we can make it work.

If you want a certain character - no matter how much of a minor sidecharacter they are - please reblog and put the names in the tags (even for eras you may not have voted for). DW has us between a rock & a hard place. Watch She-Ra/keep supporting them [and you’re telling them] what they did with VLD was okay, we don’t mind getting invested and a show later turning sexist homophobic fatphobic ... Or, don’t watch it and don’t support a diverse show. They'll say: fans don’t really want diverse interesting things, let’s go back to making the same crappy stories.

Oh, DreamWorks would love to think DW-or-nothing is your only choice, just as I’m sure Disney and Pixar (hell, any company) would think that’s an awesome place to be. It’s not where we’re at, though, and things are looking brighter with every new announcement from a production company or platform. Nick’s new catchphrase is “multicultural, authentic and diverse” as requirements for any new shows, and the CN partnered with Black Women Animate for a major bootcamp, and that’s seriously putting money where your mouth is.

There’s variations of diversity all over the place: Bob’s Burgers (Fox), Final Space (TBS), the Loud House (Nickelodeon), Los Casagrandes (Nickelodeon), and Harley Quinn (DC Universe). Cartoon Network has (of course) Steven Universe plus upcoming shows like Craig of the Creek, Victor and Valentino, and Infinity Train.

If you narrow it down to just Netflix, they’re going even bigger, since they’ve got a lot more room to play than traditional FCC-regulated cable. There’s independent animation for adults like Castlevania, BoJack Horsman, and Big Mouth, and more coming, like Tuca & Bertie. For kids/family, future shows include Kid Cosmic, Maya and the Three (with a Moana writer as head of story), My Father’s Dragon, Jacob and the Sea Beast, Motown Magic, The Willoughbys, even a non-verbal series from India called Mighty Little Bheem.

Fact is, sure, DW could decide diversity doesn’t get it anything, but there’s no getting around the fact that diversity is doing a hell of a lot for everyone else. When even broadcast television is catching on, the only good business conclusion is that it’s time to get on the ball and catch the hell up.

Know what that means? You can’t rest on diversity laurels, either. The days are fast passing to It won’t be enough to have diverse characters, voice actors, and staff; you’ll have to be telling a good story, too. Like @beachdeath‘s analogy of thin gruel, creators are going to need to offer more to get us to sit at the table.

Labor Day Weekend - What a fun weekend fishing an event put on by Craig Hajecki and Vince Pierleoni. We'd typically be competing in the Fall King of the Lake over in St. Catherine's, Ontario. However, given the current situation these two guys made sure there was an event to fish for anyone interested. The bite was tough this weekend, but we had a great team of guys and executed our plan almost to a tee.

Practice - we knew the inside water for stagers was a tough grind, so we headed offshore looking for 2yr old box fillers. We found them on the 27/28N line straight out of port. Mix of Team Dreamweaver spoons, A-Tom-Mik Mfg. flies, and Familiar Bite meat took fish for us and gave us a spot.

Day 1 - our plan was to fish stagers until 8am. At 8am if there weren't at least four stagers in the cooler we were headed offshore. At 8am we had one stager in the Grizzly, so we headed offshore. It didn't take long and we were into the immature Salmon. Again, Familiar Bite meat, A-TOM-MIK flies, and DW spoons did the job. We went in to weigh in not sure what to expect. Low and behold, we were the only six fish box and we're in the lead after day one.

Day 2 - the plan for day two was to head offshore and get our six fish. When we got to our waypoints from the day before we noticed temp went deeper and we were in search mode. Throughout the day we ground out a nice charter box, but only put four Salmon in the cooler. Not knowing how the stager bite was (due to no communication) we thought the worst. When we got to the scales we heard the bite stayed tough inside, and we did enough to take home the win!

Spoons that worked for us this weekend were custom FishUSA Team Dreamweaver Glow Roy Boy, Glow Gladiator, Martel, and a Hulk moonshine. A-TOM-MIK flies that worked were Glow Blue shredded Hammer behind a wonderbread Smart fish, and a Glow Stud behind a black dot Spin Doctor. Familiar Bite meat worked good behind 8" flashers and Familiar Bite Whiplash paddles.

Tag Game: Doctor Who Edition

Doctor you started with: Eleven.

Favourite Doctor: Twelvey. He came in and painted my favorite show in colors I didn’t know existed. My cosmic, otherworldly, rockstar Twelvey is everything I could’ve ever wanted in a Doctor.

Favourite Companion: There was a distinct moment in S7 where my focus shifted from Eleven to Clara, and she suddenly became the most important person in the show to me. Her experience in the TARDIS shaped my viewing experience. She is, by leaps and bounds, my favorite companion.

Favourite Episode: Just one? Insanity! I suppose if I HAD to choose just one, it would be Last Christmas. It has all the elements of a perfect who ep: a creepy monster, a fun mystery, brilliant twists, and some of the most honest, gorgeous Doctor/companion dialogue I’ve ever seen.

DW OTP: Whouffaldi, although I don’t consider them an OTP, per se. They’re something...more than that.

Favourite line/quote: “The deep and lovely dark. We’d never see the stars without it.”

Favourite Character that isn’t the Doctor or a companion: It’d have to be Miss River.

BrOTP: Eleven x Craig. The best.

Favourite DW fic (if you have one): I don’t have one!

Favourite DW fanart/blog (if you have one): I can’t single out blogs, because I like far too many. However, @scrawlsinthesand makes some utterly beautiful fan art.

If you could pick anyone to be the next Doctor, who would it be? (Why, if you feel like explaining):

I very genuinely do not have an opinion on this. I’d like to see the role go to someone other than a white man, because I think Moffat has perfectly set the stage for the Doctor’s appearance to take a new direction. I don’t have anyone specific in mind, though. And that’s on purpose — I want it to be someone I don’t know of already.

I LOVE them and it hurts we, everytime i see people saying the Victor & Hermoine Plotline is useless. No it’s not! Victor is a famous Quidditch Player and basically every Girl loves him, but he choose Hermoine. Even considert she is a muggleborn & those kind of Witches and Wizard aren’t allowed on his school.

Not to mention, that Hermoine wasn’t the beautiful girl from the Movies, so Victor gave her confidence, because he saw something in her she didn’t.

Over the Books they stay in touch and Dance on the wedding together. Besides that this whole Plotline made Ron realize he had feelings for Hermoine.

Northern Ireland vs. Germany (20:45 CEST, Monday, September 9)

— Joshua Kimmich was the player sat alongside Löw in the press conference ahead of the game and the Bayern Munich man is ready for a battle.

“We need to react, and that’s something that we will do,” he said. “Anyone who thinks tomorrow will be a walk in the park is completely off the mark.”

— We know that Löw will be keeping faith with one of the old guard tonight in Manuel Neuer but is there any way back for Boateng, Müller and Hummels? A fair number of people in the German press have suggested so in the wake of the defensive errors that cost Germany on Friday night.

It’s difficult to see Löw going back on such a public, and big, call at this point and the reasons remain largely sound. But anything less than a win tonight and those calls may become louder.

“Northern Ireland play with one central striker, which means for us that we only need two central defenders instead of three,” the coach has said. It’ll be interesting to see whether that’s Ginter or Tah. History suggests Löw will go with the former.

— Here’s how the German squad are preparing themselves for later on. It looks like they’re operating in more of a function room than a gym, but I guess they had the relevant permissions.

— Amid the talk of changes and recriminations after Friday’s display, it’s worth remembering that Germany had won 14 straight games in major tournament qualifiers since October 2015 before that game. Surely they can’t go two in a row, can they?

— This has been widely acknowledged as a rebuilding period for Germany but Kai Havertz, probably the best regarded of the country’s latest generation, hasn’t quite made the breakthrough on the international stage. Could tonight be his night?

— Here’s Michael O’Neill on the size of the task for Northern Ireland tonight.

“It [a positive result] would be right up there in terms of great Northern Ireland results,” the Northern Ireland boss said. “We’ve had big nights here in the past – the wins against England [2005] and Spain [2006] – but ultimately they never really led to anything.

“They didn’t lead to qualification. It was just a great experience and a great night for the fans. A result tomorrow night not only will be that but will also be a key factor in terms of qualification for Euro 2020.”

Northern Ireland face Germany and the Netherlands twice each in their next, and last, four qualifiers.

— Northern Ireland top this qualifying group with four wins from four but have yet to play one of the big boys. All four wins have been fairly narrow, with Michael O’Neill’s men yet to score more than twice. A 1-0 friendly win over Luxembourg also speaks to a lack of real potency at the front end.

But O’Neill made history by taking his side to Euro 2016 and they’re defensively sound, with Premier League regulars Craig Cathcart and Jonny Evans the main men at the back. There’s bound to be a feverish atmosphere at Windsor Park, it could prove a tough task for Germany.

— Further back on the pitch, questionable defensive displays from fellow center backs Jonathan Tah and Matthias Ginter against the Netherlands have increased the pressure on Bayern Munich’s Niklas Süle as the leader of the defense.

But the former Hoffenheim man recently admitted that organization is a part of the game he has to work on. “In my communication off the field, I am very strong. On the pitch, I am still lacking a little bit to be considered a real defensive leader,” he said last week.

With Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels consigned to the international wilderness, the squad do seem to lack a bit of nous and knowhow. Joachim Löw will hoping Süle and his teammates develop it over the rest of this campaign.

— We know that the absence of Nico Schulz will force at least one change for Germany tonight but there’ll surely be more given the nature of the performance against the Netherlands. Julian Brandt, who has impressed for new club Borussia Dortmund largely from the bench, said he’s looking to get more than cameo appearances for the national side too.

“Of course 10 minutes isn’t my aim, that’s clear,” the 23-year-old told broadcaster Sport 1 at the weekend. “I can imagine we might switch from five at the back to four against Northern Ireland which gives someone the chance from the bench.” Will he be the man? It feels like Germany might need a player of his creative talents to unlock hosts who seem likely to sit deep.

— For the stat nerds out there, this will be Germany’s 18th game against Northern Ireland. The last meeting came in a World Cup qualifier in 2017, a game that Germany won 3-1 thanks to goals from Sebastian Rudy, Sandro Wagner and Joshua Kimmich. Germany’s record in this fixture is 11 wins, four draws and two defeats. The last defeat came in Euro qualifying back in 1983 – Norman Whiteside’s goal was enough to win the game in Hamburg.

— There were also calls for Mats Hummels to return after the defensive fraility on show in Hamburg. Löw has poured cold water over that, and quickly too. Amidst all of that talk and the Havertz hope, there’s also the goalkeeper question. What of Marc-Andre ter Stegen? He will sit on the bench, again. That ends that then.

— In Belfast, Germany will be without Nico Schulz (ligament tear in his foot) and Ilkay Gündogan (flu). Löw seemed to suggest that Gündogan would have started, but without him perhaps there’s a chance for Kai Havertz?

— Hello! Germany are licking their wounds a bit after their defeat to the Dutch in Hamburg. There were question marks about style of play as Joachim Löw’s rebuild took a blow. Perhaps it was just a reality check for this Germany side, who are maybe not as good as they think they are? In any case, they have the chance to set the record straight on Monday night.
