#we all knew Bowser was going to be great
Text
Okay, Mario Movie trailer...
PROS:
- The visuals are incredible, but that's to be expected. Still, for a studio that usually goes for the bare minimum visually, it's impressive.
- Bowser looks and sounds amazing! Jack Black kills it, I couldn't tell it was him doing the voice. He's definitely gonna be a highlight.
- ACTUAL WORLDBUILDING!? We see different kingdoms, Bowser portrayed as an actual conqueror and the koopas as his army.
- Toad sounds pretty good. The tone is similar to the games but thankfully far less grating.
CONS:
- Mario just sounds like Chris Pratt. There's a vague attempt at replicating Charles Martinet's voice, but it lacks energy.
- They might be going for an isekai situation, which I'm not a fan of. Mario Odyssey already introduced New Donk City, just make THAT Mario's original home and the Mushroom Kingdom is just a different continent.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW GREAT AND HEARTWARMING THIS SCENE WAS??
Tumblr media
I was like... WOW!! After Bowser shoot the fire at Mario and then he came out unharmed, I knew it had to be Luigi the one protecting him, but I thought he would've learned about the Power-Ups and used one to stop the fire, but no. It was him alone, a regular human using a manhole cover as a shield to protect Mario from the flames.
Tumblr media
Let's remember that before that, he was hidding in a dumpster because he was afraid. It wasn't until he saw Mario coming back to face Bowser, even though he was injured and with no Power-Ups to help him fight, that he knew he had to do something. He has been protected by Mario his whole life, so it was his turn to protect him. He didn't think it twice, he didn't hesitate. All he knew was that his brother was in danger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can even see him struggling to keep his stand because of the flames' force, but he never let go. Little Luigi put all of his strenght on keeping the cover to shield his big bro. He even told him the same words Mario had told him before to comfort him after entering the Warp Pipe: "Nothing can hurt us as long as we're together."
And then, this happened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cover was starting to melt, it was red hot already. You can see that he's scared and worried about the cover melting, but he still kept his stand and didn't let go, even though he was going to get burned first. He was willing to die here just to save Mario! Luigi a coward? BULLSHIT! HE'S THE BRAVEST OF THEM ALL!
This movie made me love him even more 💚

Bowser x GN!reader || Wedding Scenario/ Fluff?/ SLIGHT angst.
(If nobody will take Bowser, you shall >:3)
..
You stood Infront of the door leading to the wedding area. You were rather nervous, but didn't want to keep Bowser waiting. As much as he loves you, he doesn't have that much patience, and would likely begin to worry.
You begin to recollect all the moments from when you met him. He took you in when you were injured, but only because it was beneficial. You were like a prisoner. A toy. Hell, you didn't even have your own bed, but that is to be expected, you're a prisoner, not a room mate. You just slept in the living room. But all so suddenly.. he began to warm up to you, and you did the same.
Every now and then, he'd talk to you or check up on you, or sometimes even invite you to watch a movie or something with him. You felt like you guys were going to become friends, but really nothing more.
...
Now you were..here.
"I'm marrying a turtle like creature..let alone the KING of his species.." was all that could repeat in your mind.
But you knew this is what you wanted..
..So out you walked, and were instantly met with various Koopas cheering and clapping. In your line of site was the big turtle himself, Bowser. His eyes were glistening, like an excited puppy, and he had a warm smile on his face.
Tumblr media
Once you made it to your position, Kamek began to clear his throat, letting the audience know to settle down.
"Bowser, do you take (Y/N) to be your lawfully wedded partner?"
"I do."
"And (Y/N), do you take Bowser to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." You replied confidently.
Kamek then spoke once more. "Very well then, you may now kiss the Koopa."
Your now husband cups your face in his hands and gives you a long smooch, one that leaves butterflies in your stomach. But despite that, you melt into it, not having a worry in the world as long as you have him by your side. The clapping of the crowd muffles in the background as your ears only focus on Bowser's eyes, and his voice. The perfect light from the sun only enhanced this warm feeling you two shared.
"..I love you, (Y/N)."
You smile at this.
"I love you too, turtleboy."
"Heh. It's weird to think a long time ago we didn't even get along. But now..here we are."
"Well, It's a crazy world."
He jokingly scoffs at this new title. "That's KING Turtleboy to you, tiny." Oh, right. You were shorter than him.
Timeskip !!
It was now dark outside, and you and Bowser, exhausted from all the talking and dancing, were just now entering the castle. He carried you down the hallways as your head lay under his chin. Soon enough, you were in his room, a place in the past you were often forbidden from. He set you down on the side of the bed and sat next to you.
"You look handsome in that suit." You smirk as you put your hand on top of his.
"Hehe, I know." He closes his eyes and beams a smug smile. "As much as I love to wear it, can't sleep in it. That's asking for the worst sleep of your life."
"Aw.. "
"What? Am I not handsome without it?" He jokingly pretends to be offended.
"That's not what I meant!" You nudge him back softly.
..
Finale
11:15 PM
You were awoken by the sudden aura of emptiness around you. You look to your other side, and notice your companion is nowhere in sight.
"Bowser..?" You call out as you begin to walk around the castle halls. You then halt when you hear a faint dripping sound. You peek around the corner and see your husband sitting at the table, dressed rather adorable. You smile seeing him, and walk into the kitchen yourself.
(Art By LATES, imagine how comfortable hugging him would feel, comment If you want a scenario oneshot of that 👀)
Tumblr media
"Hey, why are you up so late?" You ask, tilting your head slightly.
The big teddy bear of a turtle jumps slightly at your unexpected voice. "U-Uhm!.. Just grabbing a glass of water. Couldn't sleep, ya know."
"Aww, did I scare you?" You ask smugly.
"O-Of course not! Nothing scares the great King Bowser!"
"Oh! That's right, my knight in shining armor." You say as you dramatically lean into his arms, which then wrapped around you softly.
"Alright, before we get all lovey dovey..I have a question." He spoke, his tone slightly softening.
"Yeah?"
"I'm..not a monster right?" He firmly asked.
"..-"
"You didn't just..marry me because I'm some king, or to get some magical star..right?" He looked down at you with the same puppy dog eyes he had during the wedding earlier, though instead of a smile, it was a frown filled with anticipation, yet hope.
....
"Bowser..I married you because I love you. I don't care about royalty or stars or any of that. I care about you." You assured him, holding his hands in yours.
That moment.. his frown turned into his warmest smile. He hugged his newfound love, and you embraced the hug with ease. He makes sure to be gentle with you. To be a large guy, he has an even larger heart. You can feel his relaxed heartbeat as you lean into his arms even further. You wish you could stay like this all night.
He may be the King of Koopas, but he's the king of your heart now too.
(Err, hope you guys enjoy? It's my first time writing an actual oneshot fanfic, so I'm not the best. If people like this though, I may write a second part where said reader meets Bowser Jr.)
(bye!!)

+TW Angst
There is so much stuff that didn't make it into the Reunion Comic... but I don't want it to go to waste.
So have a little something in-between the Coronation and Reunion;
Always time;
The day was long. Again.
Kamek dragged himself through the corridors on his way to his last duty of the day. It was past midnight already!
It's been 5 months since they created the healing sphere in which the King of the Koopa was locked in, to- well... heal. It needed four Magikoopa to build that giant thing, but fortunately, only one to run it. Kamek and Kammy took shifts since Kamek still had his duty at the side of their new King. And since this one had no experience in ruling whatsoever, this job was even harder than before.
Not to get it wrong, Luigi's doing great. But since Bowser's absence, things in the Kingdom were going out of hand. But there was no fault to seek in the new Ruler.
Bowser promised Luigi would surprise them all. And this Kamek could confirm almost every day. Luigi was kind. He had a feeling for situations that were in immediate need of de-escalation, he was willing to put himself into everything, and he was fair. Yet scared all the time...
The citizens who came to bring their concerns and requests to the king sure were not convinced at first. But some of them already met King Bowser and sometimes were scared to ask of anything at all. Then, while talking to Luigi, they relaxed visibly, and chit-chating was about to become a common thing with the King. And Kamek was certain they liked their new Ruler.
One time, he wasn't fast enough to react, Luigi jumped from his throne to hug a desperately crying single mother who asked for help. Her husband died in one of the (already countless) riots at the borders of the Lands. He just wanted to get a surprise for their anniversary and wasn't even involved in the sedition....
Kamek was thrown off his thoughts as he reached the healing chambers. The door was ajar, and the light of the sphere was showing through. The Magikoopa could hear a voice, reading with passion about a dragon and a village in flames. He knew this part too well! It was Junior's favourite book. How many times had Bowser or himself read it to him...
Kamek entered the chambers.
"Luigi?" He asked, the reading stopped.
At the bottom of the sphere sat an exhausted looking King, bags under his eyes, book in hand, and a loud snoring Junior on his lap. His hair had grown out, and Kamek didn't know if he did not want them to be cut short or if he was just prioritising other things. Luigi leaned on the sphere, which caused the magic glow to alter.
He smiled. "Kamek. Come sit with us. We're about to get to the best part."
"How?!"
"How- what?"
"The world could go down, and you'd still find enough time for them... how?" Luigi only shrugged. "And how often did you read that thing already?!" Kamek pointed at the book. "And why are you still reading? Junior is fast asleep already. "
"Who says I'm reading to Junior right now?" The King laughed and craned his neck to look at the shadow inside the sphere, then he smiled. "I know Bowser can't stand this book anymore. He told me the last time we read it to our little one here. " Then his smile turned sad. "I keep reading this to him until he wakes up just to make me shut up because he can't stand it anymore. "
At this, Kamek snorts unexpectedly fast and loud
Which led to them both laughing a couple of minutes straight.
Kamek cleared his throat and adjusted himself before talking. "You should go and rest yer majesty. Don't make me use my sleep magic on you again."

Luigi with S/O who is a princess that was forced to have an alliance with Bowser and no one wants to trust her but Luigi does see that she’s good
Love this sm 😭
"I don't think you're evil, I think you're great."
Summary: As long as you can remember, you've had to have an alliance with Bowser against your will, of course. No one ever wanted to take your side until he came along.
Relationship: Platonic, some romance implied
Warnings: bullying???, fluff, tiny angst, fem reader, lmk if there is anything else
*Also, this is kind going off the plot of a movie, but just a tad, I'm changing it around a bit for the request, also Mario and Luigi already live in Mushroom Kingdom as this takes place.
Tumblr media
You couldn't even walk around a different kingdom without people eyeing you down. This is why you hated going to different places for royal meetings, especially when it was about the man that you had to comply with.
Ever since you were crowned you were told that you were to have an alliance with the relentless Bowser, you had zero say in the matter.
So, when you were sent the letter that Princess Peach needed help and an army you knew instantly what it was about, and you couldn't just not go, that would make you look worse.
The guards hesitantly let you into the castle, watching you intently until you turned the corner to the meeting room. The room was full of toads and other kingdoms rulers, it went silent after you walked in.
'Wonderful.'
You walked to the corner of the crowd and looked down, fidgeting with you dress, praying for Peach to start talking.
Like it was a miracle, all eyes were averted from you as she started to talk, she went on about how Bowser was going to soon take over Mushroom Kingdom. You started to feel squeamish, you knew that you would also be blamed for this, anything Bowser would did would also be backlash on you.
You wanted to walk out of there, but that would be too petty and self-centered, then you would really be blamed for the action occurring.
You tilted your head up to listen to what Peach had to say until you heard whispers coming from behind you.
"Why did she even come? It's not like she can do anything to help."
"Not that she wants to help."
Those whispers turned into hushed giggles, you began to look down again until the doors burst open, causing you to bolt your head up.
Luigi and Mario, Mushroom Kingdoms heroes, ran through the entrance,
"Sorry we're late Princess! We got caught up with business." Mario explained, Peach nodded and smiled, signaling him to stand anywhere to listen to her plan.
You locked eyes with the taller brother, his face went a light shade of red as he waved, you sent a small wave back, not enough to bring attention to yourself.
You bring your attention back to the princess, scared for the whispers to start back up.
Peach wrapped up her plan, catching you before you could leave, Luigi and Mario stuck behind, waiting for her to get done with whatever she was about to do with you.
"You know you don't have to come to these." She started.
"I know, but I want to find ways I can help as well, even if there isn't much I can offer."
She sighed, "I appreciate it, I truly do, but think of what affect that would have on the kingdom."
You knew she wasn't talking about the kingdom; you knew she was talking about herself.
"Oh." Is all you could muster out, you couldn't let out a thank you or a sorry, you turned away and walked out.
It's not like this was your fault, you had nothing to do with what Bowser decided to do. As you walked out of the kingdom you got more stares than you did when you were walking in, it's like they all witnessed the conversation you just had with the princess.
When you had reached the tunnel that led to your home felt a presence behind you, you look back and find a wheezing Luigi. He's so out of breath you have to give him a minute to catch his breath.
"I've....been.... chasing...you...for.... 20....minutes."
You had a surprised look on your face, "Really? What for?"
He was finally able to catch his breath, "I lost you in the crowd, I wanted to walk you out, but the princess had to talk to Mario and I."
You smiled at this, "Were you coming to tell me that I'm no longer welcome at Mushroom Kingdom?"
He shook his head violently, "Of course not! I'd love for you to come back, it's really a wonderful place."
"Not when everyone around thinks your Bowsers evil side kick."
"I don't think you're evil, I think you're great."
You both went silent, you decided to finally break the tension, "Nobody has ever talked about me in that way before."
He gasped, "Really? Not even your own people?"
"They're not too keen on being in a forced alliance with Bowser either."
Your face faded out. He could tell you were overthinking, so he wanted to get your mind clear from Bowsers' treacherous ways.
"Would you like to sit with me and watch the sunset?" He asked, you looked up into his eyes, smiled, and then nodded.
He led you over to the grass patch next to the tunnel and you both sat down, he then grabbed you hand while still viewing the skies, you sighed and laid your head on his shoulder,
I loved writing this!!
"Thank you."

Brawl Tier List (Based On The Relevance of What They Were Doing When We Meet Them In Subspace Emissary)
Tumblr media
I'll explain some of my choices under the cut
So a lot of these choices are pretty obvious, although some are a bit iffy or require explanation of the Subspace story which can be found in trophy descriptions & The Dojo.
The first category was for characters who were engaged in the Subspace plot from the get-go and were the "good guys". In case you didn't know, King Dedede is the hero of Subspace, and if it weren't for him, Tabuu would have won, since he made the "reset badges", and his initial plan was to hold onto some people and give them the reset badges in case Tabuu used his Off Waves. Meta Knight is considered to be a good guy, even though he mostly just wanted to get the Halberd back. Fox I put into this category as well since he's first seen giving chase to the Halberd in his Arwing, so I consider that pretty engaged, even if we don't know the exact reasoning.
The second category is open and shut. They're the Bad Guys. Ganon, Bowser, and everyone's favorite winner, Wario. Technically Wario kinda defected from Tabuu and wanted to just steal all the trophies, but I'm counting him here.
Next was the "Used by Tabuu" tier. According to the lore, the entire Subspace Army is made from the power of Game and Watch (although it says the Game & Watch are unaware of this). Pikachu's electricity was being used to power a lot of the operations (most notably the Subspace Bomb Factory iirc). And it's implied that R.O.B was coerced into helping Tabuu, feeling so ashamed that he put on the Ancient Minister garb to hide himself out of shame.
The "Was Doing What You Expect" Tier is a tricky one, since some characters like Mario & Kirby weren't doing what you'd expect in their normal games, but they were fighting, which is something you'd expect in Smash, but I was kinda lenient. Pit was watching from Skyworld, which is in character. It's shown that Pokemon Trainer was looking for Ivysaur and Charizard, so we can assume he was on that journey when we found him in the Ruined Zoo. ZSS's motivations are kind of unclear about whether she knew about the Subspace Bombs and tried to stop them or if she just knew her Power Suit was there and wanted to get to it. I always figured it was the latter, so I'm putting it in this tier. Marth was defending a castle, which sounds right (I haven't played Fire Emblem). Ice Climbers were climbing ice. Monkeys were getting their bananas. Link was getting Master Sword. Yoshi was sleeping (which only gets him out of "Just Standing There" tier because he is Yoshi).
Next are the ones who just kinda showed up. And it so happens that all five of them make a pretty grand entrance. Sonic is the obvious example here. Ness also counts since there's no implication that either he or Lucas actually live in or even near the Ruined Zoo, but then again in the dialogue-less cutscenes tying together over 30 characters, I don't think that detail was important. Falco makes a grand entrance, although you could argue that he was meant to be Fox's backup. Ike makes a grand entrance with this Great Aether. Captain Falcon literally shows up to jump out of his car, punch a robot and kill approximately 50 aliens in one fell swoop, so either there was an F-Zero track around the Island of the Ancients that we don't see and he quit in the middle of his race to do that, or he just did that. Either way there's something wrong with him.
And then finally we have the characters who were Just Standing There. Luigi obviously was minding his own business when he got got by Dedede. Peach and Zelda I almost put in the "Doing What You Expect Tier" (or at LEAST Peach since she knew Mario at least), but honestly? They were just standing there. No hate, obviously. Sometimes you just gotta Stand There. Olimar was minding his own business letting his Pikmin eat a robot before they were murdered. Lucario was vibing on top of a mountain (as you do). Lucas was just being sad. And Snake? We don't see any sign that he's on a mission. We just see that he's been on the Halberd for an undisclosed period of time before dramatically revealing himself way way later. I like to imagine he accidentally fell asleep.
And then the last tier are for the 3 characters that are unlocked after Subspace, so I don't really count them.
Anyway in case you can't tell I am back on my ADHD meds! Hope you enjoyed this. See you all for the Nuzlocke stream later.

Whatever this October thing is (Bowuigi), 2, The Mating Game
[Disclaimer, this is not ABO. This is only based on the song of the same name by Bitter:Sweet]
"Welcome to..." the Toad paused, before everyone in the crowd joined them in saying, "The Mating Game!"
Everyone clapped and cheered. They all knew tonight was a very special episode.
"Now, before we meet our 'mate' for tonight, let's meet our contestants!" They said, walking over to the podiums where two toads and one human stood, the human looking very confused. The announcer stood in front of the first Toad.
"Now, who are you?" They asked.
"Knight Toadwin, at your service!"
The crowd oohed and ahhed. "Well, we've never had a knight on our show before. I'm sure this will go great for you!"
Everyone clapped as they moved on to the human. "And who might you be?"
"Um, I'm Luigi, and really quickly, I just wanted to ask, one, why are we underwater, two, what am I even--"
"Alright, everyone give a round of applause for Luigi!" And so everyone did, though not as much as they had for Toadwin.
They moved on to the second Toad. "And you?"
"Toadie."
"Thank you, Toadie!" Everyone clapped again. "Alright, now, time for you three to pick numbers!" They said, as a basket filled with slips of paper was rolled out. "Toadwin, step up!"
She stepped up, put her hand in the basket, and pulled out a slip. She then went back to her podium. Everyone turned their eyes to Luigi, who still looked quite confused.
"Step right up, Luigi! You're the next contestant!"
He did so, walking over to the basket.
"Go on, take a number!" He did so.
He walked back to his podium and opened the slip, looking even more confused. "This isn't even a number!" He said, but no one listened.
Toadie took his number and the announcer smiled. "Now, if you will wait a minute as I twist your fate, I will be greatly pleased."
Luigi mouthed the words "twist your fate", looking more confused than ever. The announcer closed their eyes and whispered something. They sighed and opened their eyes, smiling. "Alright, who's ready to meet the Mate?" The crowd cheered.
In walked a hulking koopa, also looking confused. Luigi's eyes widened as he ducked behind the podium.
"Now, you might recall this lovely face as The King of Koopas himself, King Bowser!" The audience cheered. "And he'll be right back after the break!
"Wait, what?"
And like that cameras cut. The announcer grabbed Bowser's hand and dragged him over to the podiums.
"So, the name of the game is to pick one of the contestants to be your 'mate', but uh-oh! You have to chose the right one or else you get put to death!"
"Death?!" Both the confused ones said at the same time.
"No, come on," They said, dragging Bowser over to Toadwin. "This is Toadwin, the knight! Over there is Toadie, and in the middle here we have... where did he go?"
Luigi shyly rose from his hiding place. Bowser looked more confused and now equally pissed. "If I'm honest, I don't know what's going on either."
Bowser inhaled to say something, but never got the chance.
"Op! Looks like that's time! Places, everybody!" The announcer pulled Bowser back to the middle of the stage. "And, we're back! Welcome, everyone. If you're just tuning in, King Bowser was just about to choose a number!"
"I was?"
"He was! Now, choose your number from the basket!"
And so Bowser did. He looked at it. "This, this isn't even a number! What sorta show do you think you're running around here?!?" Again, no one listened.
"Now, who do you think is your mate? Be careful, you only have one shot!"
Bowser took a minute to process. He pointed to Toadie. "That one's too boring." He pointed to Toadwin. "That one seems too cheery." He finally pointed to Luigi. "But that one I already know, and he keeps looking at me funny. I say he planned it and it's him."
The spotlight shown on Luigi, making him sweat.
"Survey says... you're right!" The audience cheered and a bell rang. The two toads that had stood next to Luigi dropped out of sight. "Now, Luigi, come claim your award!"
Luigi walked over to the two of them, looking nervous as ever.
"Now, kiss!"
"What?!?!?!" They both shouted.
"You're soul mates now, did I forget to say that?"
"Yes, you did! Also, fuck you!" Bowser said.
"Well, good luck, and kiss."
"We're not--"
"Just get it over with!" A Toad in the crowd shouted. The audience cheered in agreement.
The two looked at each other. They were all too busy looking at each other to notice the puddle on the ground that was quickly becoming bigger because of the drip from the ceiling. Luigi was about to do it when the ceiling broke and water came flooding in. Bowser grabbed him and held him close as the room flooded.
Both of them awoke with a start in their separate beds. It had been the second night in a row they had had dreams about each other. This was different though. Those toads seemed awfully... familiar.

Penguin AU Part 8
Here's the promised Penguin Luigi and Lumalee one-off!
@jell-o101 @itsavee4117 @silenzahra @vulpixfairy1985 @peaches2217 @pianokantzart @elitadream
(For context: Luigi and Lumalee and KP had been meeting up for the last few months to check up on each other. When Luigi was in his depressive state, Lumalee was much more considerate and caring to Luigi. He knew he was sensitive, so he made sure to watch what they said and always show Luigi love, bc they cared about Luigi a lot. When Luigi showed signs of getting better, Lumalee allowed themselves to show their unhinged side again, slowly but surely. And Luigi loves Lumalee, unhinged and all, bc he knows Lumalee cares about him and KP. Just wanted to clarify this before you read so that you don't think Lumalee's being insensitive by his remarks of death.)
Among The Stars
On the mushroom covered field, the temperature of the night air was mighty chilly. And to Luigi, it felt like heaven for the first time in months. It felt nice being in the cold without needing a sweater or shivering every second. He sighed as the grass touched his back.
His feather-covered back.
He looked at his green fin, eyes in awe. It had only been a week since his feathers had grown back and it was still a shock. After what had happened at Bowser's island, Luigi thought he would be shamed as a plucked chicken forever. Yes, Mario was very supportive, as was Peach and Toad, but the guilt had tormented Luigi for months. The fact that he was looking like his old Penguin self again was a miracle in itself. And Luigi would never take his feathers for granted ever again.
He sighed contently, his breath coming in a slight foggy cloud. It was nowhere near as foggy as it would have been in the Snow Kingdom, but it was nostalgic nonetheless. Finally he could enjoy a cold night without his teeth chattering or his body freezing like an icicle. Luigi looked up at the sky. The stars twinkled and shined. It was almost as if they were smiling along with him. Almost as if they were calling to him.
"Weegie!"
In fact he could almost hear them now...
"Hey, Weegie!"
The voice startled him out of his trance. That was no imagination. It was a very real child-like voice. He looked around, only to be greeted by a grinning blue Luma. He yelped. "Lumalee! You gave me a heart attack!"
Lumalee giggled. "What? If we can't die a little on the inside now and then, then what is life but an infinite void of nothingness?"
Luigi rolled his eyes, but a smile crept across his beak. He shook his head. "I swear Star Child, one day you'll give me a headache so bad I probably will die on the inside."
The Star Child giggled louder. "Good! I'll be the one to give you the sweet relief of death!"
After a couple seconds of silence, Luigi laughed alongside Lumalee as he pulled them into a tight squeeze. "It's good to see you, Star Child."
"It's great to see you, Weegie! It's been a while hasn't it?"
Luigi stared at them incredulously. "Lumalee... it's only been a couple of weeks."
The Luma grinned. "Ah, but that's life! Nothing but a long timetable of waiting. And it is the waiting that can make the sane crazy!"
Luigi sighed. "Mama Mia... what am I going to do with you?" As Lumalee cackled Luigi smiled again. "Still... I'm still happy to see you again! You look good!"
You look good! Better than good! You look great!"
Luigi gave Lumalee a beaming grin. "Well, that's because I'm in a good mood tonight. Notice anything different about me?" He beamed as he stood up and held his fins out his sides. Lumalee looked at Luigi for a good moment before gasping, his face horrified.
"Luigi! You're not wearing your sweater! We need to get you inside now! It's freezing outside!" Lumalee began to push Luigi's chest, desperate to get him to a place of warmth.
Luigi patted Lumalee, his smile fading to a concerned expression when he saw the Luma's fear. "Woah woah woah! It's okay, Lumalee! I'm fine! I'm not cold! Look at my fins, look at me!" He gently pushed Lumalee off of him and forced them to look at his green fin and body. The Luma's fearful expression turned into one of confusion, then of deep observation, then of shock and joy.
"Luigi... your feathers grew back! You're back to normal!"
Luigi smiled at them. "See? It's okay, Star Child. I'm okay now. I promise. I'm back to my normal Penguin self!" The Luma cheered with happiness as they flew in for a tight hug with the green penguin. Luigi hugged back, love for his Star Child flowing through his veins.
Lumalee snuggled under Luigi's chin. "I'm so glad you're okay, Weegie!"
Luigi chuckled. "Me too, Star Child. Me too." After several minutes of being in a tight hug, the duo finally separated. "So, how's the Mushroom Kingdom?" Lumalee asked.
Luigi grinned. "Pretty good. Just the usual, gardening and all of that. Although... Mario seems to have the... feels for a certain someone."
The Luma's eyes glistened with mischief. "Oooooo, a crush on the princess? This got interesting! Do tell, Weegie."
Luigi chuckled. He remembered how Mario's red cheeks grew redder as he gazed upon the princess. How much of a stammering mess the red penguin was when he talked to Luigi about his feelings. How much Mario said he wanted to just kiss her. Luigi grinned at the memories, but decided to spare his brother the embarrassment. "Eh, maybe next time. Maybe Mario can tell you himself when you see him again."
Lumalee pouted. "Awww, you're no fun."
Luigi smirked playfully. "Aww don't worry. You'll find out the details later, promise." He patted the Luma's head. "But enough about me. How have you been?"
"Great!" Lumalee said, happiness returning to his face. "I'm just floating in the infinite void with Mama and my Lumas again! And I got to reunite with Greenstar again! You know, the friend I told you about in the dungeon? Who you reminded me of?"
"Oh? That's great news, Lumalee! How's he doing?"
To this, the blue Luma's face dropped slightly. "He's... not doing too good. Being with the mean Koopas... messed him up. He still has nightmares." Lumalee then shook themselves and smiled again. "B-But everything's alright! Honest! Nothing to worry about!"
But Luigi knew better. He could see the pain in Lumalee's eyes. He waddled up to them and rubbed their blue tuff. "Star Child... you know I can see when you're lying," he whispered, concerned.
Lumalee's mouth opened and closed, trying to find a good retort, but in vain. Finally, he sighed and crossed his nubs. "I'm worried about him. I want him to be okay." His face was in an annoyed pout, but his voice and eyes were full of worry and sadness. It broke Luigi's heart. He couldn't bear to see his Star Child like this.
With determination, he firmly but gently pulled Lumalee to face him eye to eye. "Hey. Look at me." Lumalee didn't. "Look at me, Lumalee," Luigi repeated more sternly. This time, they obeyed, slowly focusing their misty eyes to Luigi's. "It'll be okay. I don't know this Greenstar, but I remember you telling me that he's resilient and he always bounces back. He'll be okay. I'm not saying it'll be easy or quick, and I'm sure he'll have really bad days. But that's okay. Healing is a journey. And I know he has a good friend like you, Star Child. As long as you and his friends and family are by his side to help him when he's struggling, he'll find healing. He'll be okay. I promise."
Lumalee's pout slowly melted to reveal the real Luma beneath. A frightened child, concerned for their best friend. "How do you know that?" they whispered.
Luigi gave them a heartfelt look. "Because you did the same for me. You were always there for me with KP and Mario. You were always there for me whenever I felt Toads staring at me. Although, I could do without you threatening them to turn them into soup with your baseball bat." The duo blushed and chuckled slightly at the memory before Luigi continued. "My point is, you're a good kid. And a good friend. I know you'll help Greenstar. And I know he'll be okay with you. I mean it."
Lumalee stared at Luigi, their eyes growing more teary. Finally, they floated into Luigi's arms, sniffling and hugging his neck. "Thank you, Weegie," they choaked out softly.
"You're welcome, Star Child."
The two held each other for along while once again. After a while, Luigi whispered, "Why don't we go to Peach's castle for a bit? I heard she's baking sweets. And it's space related too."
To this, Lumalee looked up at the green penguin, letting out another sniffle, but his face showing hope. "Yeah... I'd like that." With that, the two walked the slow path back to the castle ahead. But as they walked, Lumalee muttered, "Do you think she is making a black hole cake? I could go for a sweet tasting death hole."
"Wha- Lumalee!"
Lumalee laughed joyfully at Luigi's reaction. Which Luigi couldn't help but join in. After all, what was more contagious than a child's smile? Even an unhinged one.

"Give me a moment, tesoro." Luigi pressed a gentle kiss to the back of Bowser's hand. "Wait outside with the kids, will you? With all that sugar who knows what they'll get up to."
Bowser chuckled, smiling down at him. "I'm on it. See you outside, love."
The moment he'd left, the shop owner hurries over to Luigi, shooting a nervous glance through the window. Luigi looked outside as well, but all he could see were Bowser and the kids playing outside.
"Are you alright, sir?" She asked, her voice hushed as if they might be overheard.
"Oh, uh, yes! The service here was great, gratzi."
"No, I mean..." She glanced outside again, and Luigi understood what she meant. His stomach dropped. "Him," she whispered. "Did he kidnap you or something?"
Luigi's eyes widened, but he still tried to play it cool. "No, nothing like that. He's my boyfriend."
"It's okay, you can tell me the truth, we won't let anything happen to you here." She smiled, and while it seemed to be in good faith it made Luigi's blood boil. "I know our kingdoms are allies and all, but he does have a history with that sort of thing..."
Luigi would consider himself a fairly understanding guy. He knew this change was new to people, and that getting along might not come naturally to others. But that was his boyfriend they were speaking about. He was tired of coming up with other people's excuses.
"Don't talk about him like that," he said, his voice rising. "He has my heart, and the princess decided this allyship was a good decision for a reason. Good day to you," he snapped, trying to keep his composure as he stormed out of the store, pretending to ignore the pitying look the storekeeper threw his way.
"Something wrong?" Bowser asked as Luigi got closer, bending down to look his boyfriend in the eye.
"Let's not go to that candy store again."
"Did something happen? The kids really liked this place—" Bowser stopped at the look in Luigi's eyes, before giving him a nod, no more questions asked. "Alright, I'm sure we can find another place."
Luigi pressed a kiss to Bowser's nose. "Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too."

PLEASE elaborate on the mario movie i want to know how bad it sucks
i took notes while i was watching it because i'm insane so here's what i wrote down:
objectively bad. especially if you are not a mario fan. sorry. specifically that special illumination flavor of bad. despicable me bad. you know what i mean
clearly more emphasis was put on aesthetic/worldbuilding than story. the spectacle is incredible but the story is barebones at the best of times. several plot points seem VERY rushed and very few character relationships are given the time or attention they really need to have the character-driven story that this movie clearly WANTS to be
ESPECIALLY mario and peach’s relationship is not given nearly enough time. they get a meet-cute scene in which peach instantly takes mario in for seemingly no reason and then one training montage (both within the span of about 30 mins of runtime) and after that they’re sharing intimate secrets with each other and we’re supposed to see mario as a potential romantic partner for peach. the relationship is not NEARLY established enough for any of this and the audience is left to assume that a ton of development must have happened off screen, which makes the relationship seem REALLY rushed and flat.
the only genuinely well-written relationship imo was mario and donkey kong and they fucking hate each other
that being said the world design is REALLY good and it’s clear the designers were fans and put a lot of effort into it!! it just kind of makes it more obvious that the story is bad when it’s painted over such a fantastic backdrop
the way the references to the games were built into the environment was, again, very well done. every reference i got was well-placed and funny. i just wish the story that held all the references together was good lol
peach’s body proportions were throwing me off for the entire movie. her head is SO huge in comparison to her tiny skinny body that it’s super distracting
sometimes chris pratt makes an effort to sound like a new york italian and sometimes he just Is Chris Pratt and i genuinely don’t know which one is worse
peach’s voice honestly threw me off more than crisp rat it just does not fit her at all
animation is over rendered in that new age disney-pixar style that i really hate. i think that a movie based on retro pixel-art video games could have benefited a lot from a more stylized art style instead of so much realism
the soundtrack is incredible tho
bowser is the best character in the whole movie (we knew this)
final fight was very good. that’s all i have to say about it it was good
i honestly think this was doomed to happen with a movie like this because mario as a game doesnt have a ton of story to hold it together so any story you try to make out of it is inevitably going to rely on game references over plot ESPECIALLY if you have diehard fans writing for you. i think they could have benefitted from a few writers who DIDN'T know or care about mario to look objectively at the script as a narrative because if you take away the game-reference spectacle the story is just. not great unfortunately. I don't think it was AWFUL per se but from purely a writing standpoint it could have been WAY better than what we got imo.

Happy MAR10!
I was going to wait on releasing this until I had all three chapters ready to go, but I haven't posted any writing in a dog's age and I figured, "why not?"
This story might not make total sense unless you've read bisbigliando and jet whistle, as it takes place in the same universe/deals with the fallout from the same series of events. YMMV, as they say.
Despite the fact the catalyst for the events of this story is Luigi, he doesn't actually make an appearance here. Instead, I give you a couple hundred words of Bowser and Mario griping at each other, with a side of Bowser's bureaucratic headaches.
Working title: guttural flutter
(Yes, the origin of all the titles in this series is extended flute techniques. Yes, I am a massive nerd).
~~~~~~
It all started when Red showed up on his doorstep.
Showed up. Right. Like that pipsqueak ever did anything in his castle that didn’t involve crashing, banging, pounding, or general destruction of state and personal property.
No. Red never showed up anywhere. He arrived. Today, the puny human had catapulted through two sets of iron doors and at least eight Koopatrol guards (eight soon-to-be former Koopatrol guards, that was). All of this accomplished with the grace of a cherry-colored, irate bowling ball. Coin counts and manpower reports hovered menacingly on the periphery of Bowser’s mind as Red marched down towards the center of his throne room, tossing aside bits of metal debris with a growl, kicking aside a hapless Goomba tailor caught in the plumber’s angry crossfire.
Great. Not only would he have to go groveling to Sylmar in order to increase Red’s destruction byline in the royal budget - again - but on top of it all, he was going to have to break in a new tailor.
I haven't even done anything this time! Bowser groused. No kidnappings, no invasions, no schemes. Granted, it was still early in the day, but give a Koopa a break!
“I just had those doors replaced!” Bowser squawked, jabbing a single claw in the direction of the massacred bits of wood and metal. “And don’t think I won’t be sending you the bill by express Parakarry. With interest!”
Like that mattered to Red. He didn’t have to worry about his accountants breathing down his neck. Not that the plumber was listening, anyway, not when he was looking as steamed as a Goomba in a firebath.
“Shut it, Bowser. I don’t give a damn about your stupid doors.”
Bowser rocketed from his throne, swinging his fist above his head. “Hey, you don’t get to barge in here and tell me - “
“I need your help, you dumb reptile!”
That was enough to stop Bowser dead in his tracks, jaw frozen open like those gaudy statues over in the west corridor. Fire and ash, he hated those things. Almost as much as the growling, coiled spring of a man before him. Had Red hit his head one too many times or something? Bowser knew guy hadn’t been quite the same after the whole Chaos Heart fiasco a few months back - everyone knew that, even if they never talked about it - but he didn’t think things had gotten this bad.
Mario gave a vicious cut with his arm, slicing through empty air. “No, forget that,” he muttered, kicking at the floor, scowling. A group of wide-eyed Goombas tittered nervously off to the side, torn between cleaning up the mess of splinters and strewn metal and ogling the unstable plumber. “He’s going to help, he has to,” Mario mumbled as he turned on his heel, stabbing a pointed finger in Bowser’s direction. “You’re going to help me."
“I am?” Bowser asked, dumbly. What had gotten into Red?
“You - we - we need to break into the lab. That’s step one. And then we need to pull off a kidnapping. That’s what you do, right? You’re good at that.” Mario paused, letting out a humorless, half-huff. “Well, at least you like kidnapping, and that’s good enough for me.”
Like kidnapping? Not like those stupid treaties have given me any other choice. I ain’t telling Red that, though.
“Woah, woah, woah! Put the brakes on, Red!” Bowser fumed as he stalked down the small dais, coming to meet Mario snout-to-eye. It was one thing to storm into his castle demanding help. It was quite another to insult his foreign policy prowess at the same time. “I’m the best kidnapper there is and you know it!”
Mario gave a jagged, toothy grin. “Yeah, well,” he sneered, “we’re going after somebody who might have you beat in that department.”
“Oh yeah? What’d they do that I can’t?” Bowser huffed, crossing his arms with a fiery, disgusted snort. Wait, we're going after someone? Why am I even a conversation conversation with a man who broke into my home and looks like he’s downed five cups of Chuckoccino?
“Simple.” Red’s smile turned rancid as he pressed his thumbs into his chest. “They managed to kidnap me.”
Kidnap Red? Yeah, right. If only. Not that thought hadn’t crossed Bowser’s mind more than once. Shanghai Red and make the pesky plumber a permanent resident of his dungeons. Then he could make some actual progress on reclaiming his ancestral land. Save his Koopa power for infrastructure projects. Take a damn vacation. All of his problems solved, in one fell Koopa swoop.
Almost as many problems solved as created, your Scheming-ness, Kamek would remind him every time they danced around the topic. If nothing else, consider the massive increase in Mario’s budget byline that would need to get approved by Akooptant Sylmar. The doors, alone…
Ugh. That was enough to drape a damp tortoiseshell on the whole plan. Sylmar was more ancient than his ancestor’s ashes and half as pleasant to deal with, which wasn’t saying much.
Who could have kidnapped Red and gotten away with it? (And kept their doors intact, as well?) And why hadn’t Bowser known about it? That should have been front-page news, plastered all over the Mushroom Kingdom media.
…or maybe not. Broadcasting Red’s capture would have been equivalent to lighting up a neon sign flashing the words ‘Invade Now!’ The little fungus-faces might as well have escorted their enemies through the door personally if they had let that tidbit get out. Bowser tried to mentally run through any information his spies had gathered over the past year or so, recall any transmissions received through the completely legal (and compliant within the technical bounds of the Treaty of the Dunelands, lava bless his lawyers) Goomba Radio Network.
Gah, this was giving him a headache. Where the hell was Kamek when you needed him? Remembering old bits of useless trivia was his job. Bowser crossed his arms, tapping his clawed foot on the floor.
Wait a minute. Did this have something to so with that whole debacle last month? Red couldn’t mean -
Bowser squeezed his eyes shut, pinching the bridge of his snout as he swallowed down a massive groan.
This was insane. Even for him.
“You’re crazy, Red.”
Mario grit his teeth, shaking his head. “Not crazy. We break into the lab, grab the machine. Then we bring it here and get Iggy or Ludwig to work on the operating requirements - “
“Now wait a damned minute!” Bowser roared, taking a wide, thunderous stride forward. “You asked me for help, not my kids! I’m not dragging them into this suicidal circus!”
“I just need them to explain how to work the damned thing!”
Over my dead body. “Then get your engineering genius brother to explain it. He certainly seemed to know a lot about killer machines when he was working for - “
Mario was on him in an instant, barreling into Bowser’s abdomen, breath knocked clean from the Koopa as the two of them crashed to the solid floor in a tangle of flailing limbs. The harsh, metallic sigh of a dozen weapons being primed for combat sang throughout the high-ceilinged, bare throne room, Bowser having enough cognizance to wrest his left hand from Red’s iron grip, relaying the motion for “steady” to the High General of his personal guard.
“Don’t ever mention that again,” Mario hissed, spraying spittle all over the Koopa’s face, grabbing at Bowser’s spiked collar. “Capisce?”
Ca-what? “Yeah, great. Whatever. Now get the hell off me before my guards lose their patience.”
Twelve well-honed pikes hovered dangerously close to the soft, exposed skin of the plumber’s throat, razor-sharp points glinting with bloody promise. At the end of each long, wooden shaft, a dual set of coal-dark, implacable eyes narrowed in anticipation. The slightest whisper of an aggressive movement, a too-deep breath or a misplaced cough - Bowser knew it would be enough to result in a plumber shish-kabob.
And he really didn’t need that headache right now. Lay off, Red. For your own good.
Mario frowned, then paled slightly as his gaze landed on one of the hungry pinpoints floating near his Adam’s apple. Slowly, he relinquished his grip on Bowser’s collar, bringing both his open palms up by his shoulders as he stood. Bowser made a mental note to give his personal guard a raise sometime in the next month before waving a claw in the direction of the High General, who gave curt nod, pulling his weapon back to his side in one swift movement, the eleven other guards quickly following suit.
“You’re serious about this, aren’t you?” Bowser grumbled as he came to his feet, trying to muster whatever dregs of dignity he had left in this ridiculous situation.
Red’s only answer was an awful, vicious look.
“What, are you trying to get information about another invasion? Peach put you up to this? Doesn’t seem like her style.” Not that Peach wouldn’t resort to underhanded tactics - he knew that well enough by now. But there was no way she would have sent the perfect hero of the Mushroom Kingdom on some kind of secret hostage mission, and certainly not against someone who had technically saved all their hides not less than one month ago.
No, this was something else.
A thought occurred to him. Wispy secrets traded in dark corridors, undertones of speculation patched together in a noisy weapons room, rumors spilling from the painkiller-induced gossip of recovering soldiers in the healer’s den.
Bowser knew what vengeance looked like on a man, had seen it in the mirror a thousand times. He just never thought he’d recognize the same murderous intent staring back at him from Red’s face.
“This is about your brother, isn’t it? About the Glawackus invasion.”
Mario’s voice dropped to a dark, harsh whisper. “Information first. Then revenge.”
"THAT'S Bowser's Keep?!" Mallow squinted into the smoldering distance; whatever he perceived with his beady black eyes, it evidently did not impress. He frowned with a little sigh. "It's pretty crumbly now that I see it from here."
"Crumbly!" snarled Bowser. "Crumbly, he says! About my castle?"
"That's what it sounded like to me!" said Peach.
"Ghrk... well! Well!!"
Mallow turned his beady eyes towards the overgrown turtle. "Well what...?"
"D'aw, well, of course it's gonna look crumbly!" was his stellar retort. "Damn thing's got a big fuckin—"
"—language—!"
"—sorry, Princess—I mean the darn thing's got a big fuckin' envelope opener sticking out of the foyer! You know we just renovated that part of the castle? We were gonna put the new Bowser's Castle Welcome Center and Gift Shop in there," Bowser continued; while his brave face was game as usual, it would once more be stymied by the way his eyes welled up like overflowing toilets. "It was looking real good, too! Mario saw it! Yeah, you saw it didn't you? Didn't it look real good?"
The plumber nodded and gave a couple energetic bounces with his arm raised in the air; by now his traveling companions knew to interpret this as an enthusiastic yes.
"So don't gimme that crumbly crap! It's just... It's just got a boo-boo right now, okay? Eh? Oh yeah, that reminds me—oi, Geno! Oi!"
The caped creature failed to respond to Bowser's verbal hailing, forcing the testudine tyrant to resort to a more physical means of address; the well-timed punch to the shoulder not only did the intended trick, but also did roughly 8-10% AOE splash damage to the rest of the party.
"Ow!" Geno yelped and clutched his arm, thus putting paid to the question of whether or not a doll's body could feel pain (at least while occupied by the incomprehensible essence of an extraterrestrial lifeform).
"What was that for?" he begged.
"Got a question for you!"
"Great! Can you ask it without maiming us?"
"Apparently not." Bowser shrugged. "I just wanna know one thing! Whenever we fix that Stairway to Stardom thing you keep going on about—"
He paused.
And Geno waited, only a few awkward seconds before it became clear enough that that blankly blinking prompt was meant for him. "Huh...?"
"Aren't you gonna correct me and go That's Star Road like you always do?"
"I hadn't planned on it," he replied. And he really hadn't planned on it; in truth, he gave up on trying to correct everyone's constant misnomering long ago. The endeavor started to feel both pedantic and pointless, and frankly he couldn't tell which one was more grating. "Why, do you want me to say it?"
"Ghrk—! Of course I want you to say it! How the hell else am I supposed to know you're payin' attention?"
"...that's Star Road, Bowser."
"Yeah! That's more like it." He nodded, eminently satisfied. "Now. If we collect all the pieces and actually fix the Star Rail thing, that'll definitely get rid of that overgrown Ginsu knife squatting in my castle, right? Like automatically, right?"
Geno tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Mm. Now that's going to be hard to say."
"What do you mean by that...?" asked Mallow.
"I mean it's going to be impossible. Impossible to say."
Bowser growled, a promise of a threat. "Don't care much for that word, Timbertoes. Especially when it involves my castle..."
"Sorry Bowser, but I just don't know," said Geno. "So far, my experience in your world has led me to conclude that only two things are an absolute guarantee: Death, and a Toad-Mart in every village. And given the number of Dry Bones I've seen lurching around the place, I'm not so sure about the former."
Mallow resumed gawking at the castle across the chasm; crumbly as it was, the sword itself had a rather mean look about it. The hilt glared back at them hatefully, daring them to approach. The blade looked new, sharp enough to effortlessly split infinitives.
"You think we're gonna have to fight that thing, then...?" he wondered meekly.
"Well. The kid did say Death is one of this world's absolute guarantees," spat Bowser.
With these hopeful words left hanging in the air with the smoke and cinders, Mario jumped up and down a few more times, his arm raised high.
Socket Wrench: Chapt. 3
Sooooo this chapter ended up being kinda lengthy ngl. Im REALLY tryna build that tension between DK and the reader but also make it kinda awkward cause they just met but they can't help but like take jabs and flirt back and forth with each other cause they've gotten a bit comfortable with one another. ANYWHO, enjoy! Maybe 3-4 more chapters after this annnnd then it shall be COMPLETE lol.
ALSO, Chapter 2 found here
ok, I'm done fr. enjoy :D
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 3: Blow dice, Kiss tires
“So we ambush them at the end of this road?” You question making sure you got all the details right as Peach nods sternly.
The plan was to use the carts to try and get to Bowser before he even knew it and not only save Luigi but the Mushroom and Jungle Kingdoms from being attacked. If he was coming to the Princess he wasn't going to just stop there, he’d take over everything. The next step was to prepare, and quickly. Luckily, the garage wasn't too far, and based on what you’d learned from your last time being there, they could build their carts easily, and you'd be able to finish yours with that kind of tech.
“Let's make moves then.” You hum, leading the way to the garage, DK close behind.
There were a few things that needed to be addressed but you kept your mouth shut, trying not to think about how well this whole plan would play out. Worse comes to worse, you die here or even one of them gets hurt and the plan goes to shit. You sigh heavily, gaining even more of DK’s attention as if he wasn't burning holes into you every time he thought he could catch a glance at you while you walked.
“You look tense,” He begins, following you to your bike once the garage is opened, trying to get you to break your silence.
“I'm kind of freaking out, but it's fine.” You admit, trying to shake your nerves off as you place the tires onto the bike you crafted, the model and color of the rims contrasting nicely with the overall build.
“You're gonna be fine, just stick close to me, and no worries.”He offers, voice raised an octave
“With how you got your shit rocked earlier? I’ll take my chances.” You shoot back jokingly as he laughs sarcastically at the jab.
“Very funny.” He responds, watching you work in awe. You moved so quickly yet so precisely. He had hardly noticed you placing the final details before hopping on and revving it.
“Perfect.” You whisper out, jutting your head for him to come closer.
“Kiss 'em.” You chuckle, motioning towards the tires.
“What? Why?” He laughed back, trying to figure out where you were trying to go with this.
“For luck, it's like blowing dice right?” You question, revving the engine again.
“I need all the luck I can get pretty boy. So how about this, you kiss my tire and I’ll kiss yours. Deal?” You joke, seeing him shake his head as you hop off the bike, a flustered look on his face.
“I'm just messing with you, let me change and I'll be back to help with the rest of the karts.” You gulp, patting DK’s shoulder before heading off.
He shakes his head, making his way to his own kart. Kiss the tires? Weird request but you did ask nicely. Though, he was more reeling over you calling him ‘pretty boy’ more than anything.
—-----
Not much time had passed when you returned, a biking suit matching your motorcycle much like how the Princesses matched her own. Guess great minds thought alike.
“Looks nice, yeah? You should take a picture, it'll last longer.” You hum, catching DK eyeballing you a little bit longer than usual. He smirks at your statement, watching you fix your boots.
 You pause for a moment, motioning for him to come closer, which he has absolutely no problem doing. Before he can even process what you were trying to do, your fingers are already adjusting his tie with a soft smile.
“Now we both look nice.” You hum, driving forward and leaving him somewhat slack-jawed
It was about time for you all to leave, the bike and karts aline revving to prepare for the battle ahead. You sigh, rolling your bike next to the Princess as she smiles back at you, happy to have another woman on the team. Girlbossing alone gets exhausting after a bit. You rev your bike and dart out, eager to get to where you needed to as Peach follows next to you.
You hadn’t been able to ride a kart on your own yet, but damn did it feel nice speeding on these foreign roads, the wind blowing your braids back, the ponytail you once had discarded for your usual down look. You were so caught up in your own head you hadn't noticed Peach trying to get your attention.
“So, did they make you duel too?” She jokes, keeping up the conversation. You giggle in response
“Fortunately for me no, I wouldn't have won that fight. DK seems to know what he's doing. I just proved myself by working on the karts. It was fairly simple to understand.” You explain, a prideful look splayed over your features.
“I see. Soooo, that's why you two are on good terms, or maybe?” She side-eyes you, smirking but you quickly shut it down.
“Oh stop! He just showed me around the kingdom and the garage…and we talked.” You explain, reminiscing over the eye contact and light touches. Hell, even the quick interaction from the garage. How stupid was that to ask him to ‘kiss the tires’ jesussssss.
“Wait no! Listen, he's a prince and I'm some random girl from Brooklyn. Besides I mean I'm sure he's got plenty of fans drooling over him. Honestly, I don't know how to feel, he's such a dork.” You giggle, trying not to steal a glance at him and failing. Looks like a quiet conversation with Mario surprisingly.
“Honestly, I wouldn't mind staying here with him. He may seem like a showoff, which is very true but he's a sweetheart under it all. I actually think he wants me to stay too.” You explain, that same hotness crawling up your spine and into your face.
It wasn't long before Mario drove up beside her, also striking up a conversation while you lean back and take his previous place next to DK. The silence seemed to drag on as you both looked at each other simultaneously, only to look away and clear your throat. There's definitely tension here, awkward, flirty, or otherwise and god was it suffocating.
“How's it riding?” He chokes out, trying to cover up his embarrassment.
“Oh, um it's perfect! I’ve never built my own bike before.” You giggle, adjusting the way you were sitting, catching his eyes again.
“I'd hope so, otherwise that kiss was for nothing.” He quips, avoiding your gaze with that stupid boyish grin.
He actually did it for you?
“You…really?” You sigh, heart beating out of your chest as your face feels as if it's gonna melt from how hot it is.
“Yeah, I figured why not. The fact that you suggested it was cute.” He admits, seeing you tuck your bottom lip between your teeth.
“Didn't think you’d take me seriously, I didn't even follow through with the deal.” You hum, finally gaining the courage to look at him
“I know, you can make it up to me later.” He chuckles, the statement laced with something suggestive.
You speed up, seeing the ramp come to an end, DK catching up behind you as you begin following down Rainbow Road. There wasn't much left to cover before you made it to your destination, and anxiety eats away at you.  It wasn't hard for DK to tell so he sped up just to catch up to you, wanting to keep you from isolating yourself.
“The crease on your forehead is gonna be permanent if you keep looking like that.” DK jokes, poking the spot as you smile into the touch a bit, pulling away just before he could notice.
“I know, I know. Just nervous.” You admit, a heavy sigh filling the air.
“I get it. A lot has happened to you so far. Like I said, just stay close.” He hums, shooting you a smile you so desperately needed to see.
You giggle a bit, shaking your head.
“Hey, I got a question about that duel earlier.” You add, seeing his interest spike. He loves answering questions you had for him, and it seemed he was comfortable enough to ramble on and on about whatever the next topic led to. And you were happy to listen.
“You have a theme song? That's actually hilarious, but kinda cute.” You joke, as his face seems to flush and he clears his throat.
“I-I didn't think you were paying attention to that.” He admits, trying to avoid your teasing gaze.
“Ohhhh I paid quite a lot of attention to your showing off, saw you flex, kiss your muscles, pop your pecs, and thrust the air back to back…You’re quite the showoff aren't you?” You taunt, a laugh escaping your throat.
He’s cute when he’s embarrassed, hand gripping the wheel for dear life and he looks elsewhere.
“Ohhh don't get shy now. Your fans adored it, and I'll admit, watching you fight was pretty fun. You play dirty though.” You explain, noticing his once embarrassed expression warp into a flirty smile.
“First of all, I'm like, the most UN-SHY person you’ll ever meet. And second, you just admitted to liking the show, so I must be doing something right huh? I bet you liked me playing ‘dirty’ huh?” He bites back, watching you freeze up.
It was your turn to be shy now.
“Y-You… I never said-....shut up and drive boy.” You sputter, trying to hide the fact that you may or may not have exposed yourself. He laughs in response, shaking his head at how you could dish it out but not take it. Despite the moment being nice, something was wrong….If this Bowser was any kind of smart, he would have insight into your plan and come up with some kind of counterattack.
And sure enough, there was a brigade of soldiers from who you could only assume was Bowser. “It's an ambush!” Peach calls as you speed up on your bike, trying to figure out the best strategy.
The rest of the army speeds up as well and war ensues upon the road ahead, shells and banana peels flying from either end, anyone bound to get caught in the crossfire. You dodge a red shell, using one of the other koopas as a projectile, tossing the shell over your shoulder and passing one to the princess.
You managed to get separated from the main group, a gang of 4 hot on your tail as you try to lose them, slamming on your breaks as they speed past and you make a U-Turn, heading back to the group.
The sound of screeching tired and angry shouting fills your ears all before a loud boom shakes the road, making you lose balance off your bike and fall off. The blast was looser than you expected, the wave sending you backward and leaving your ears ringing. The world spins as you try to regain balance, a sense of panic taking over as you hear Peach call for Mario and sure enough falling into the water below, was Mario and DK.
Your feet move on their own, your books padding against the road as you try to dodge debris and dive in after them. DK was almost immediately knocked unconscious by a tire that had fallen, leaving you and Mario to swim after him to pull him back to the surface. You’re
gasping for air, trying to catch your breath as you choke on the salty ocean water.
 “Find something to float on!” You cough out, grabbing onto whatever you could while DK chokes out the water he swallowed.
“You saved my life.” He huffs, more surprised that Mario did but grateful you helped as well.
"Yeah well, I won't tell anyone," Mario responds, hoping for a lil camaraderie.
"Good please don't," Gk responds, seeing you snicker and shake your head. The moment was unfortunately cut short as the three of you found yourselves scrambling to get away from an eel that was hellbent on swallowing you whole.
-Meanwhile-
Peach speeds down the remainder of the road to get back to her kingdom. The plan had obviously failed and as far she knew, you Mario, and DK were as good as gone. The Kong army had been captured and scooped away to be held as prisoners by Bowser. There was almost no time to evacuate the kingdom but she was quick and concise in her decision, rushing any of her citizens to safety before preparing to face Bowser alone.
The ground shook and trembled as his floating castle hovered overhead. It was now or never, if she could at least keep him occupied here and keep her subjects safe, she’d fight til the end. She was surrounded now with Toad by her side as she held her weapon defensively.
-at the bottom of the FUCKING ocean-
You're pacing now, trying to see if this eel had an exit. Hell if it wasn't gonna open from the front your best bet was the back, but after walking for so long you figured there was no use. Your head is pounding and your clothes are soaked. It's dark and cold and you're trying to figure out how this whole ordeal would be explained to your dad when you never came home.
You sigh heavily, holding your head in your hands, peeling off the soaked biking jacket, and dropping it beside DK’s busted kart. Pausing for a moment, hearing footsteps approach you and of course, DK decides you look like you need some company.
“How’re you holding up?” He asks, standing beside you as you sigh heavily and shake your head no.
“Why did you dive in after us? You could have gone with the princess to help her-”
“And leave you here to drown? Yeah right. I know it wasn't the smartest but it's like my body moved on its own.” You admit hands clenched at your sides.
“I guess I've grown a lot more attached to you than I thought.” You hum, seeing his eyes soften at your frantic state.
“Attached how?” He presses, hoping you'd be the first to confess the growing feelings in the pit of your stomach just so he could have a chance to confess and make it less awkward.
“I-...I don’t know, I just think we’ve grown closer as friends so far.” The word is bitter on your tongue and damn does your chest ache when his lips press in a line and he nods slowly. Ouch.
“Yeah, yeah totally me too.” He hisses out, rocking back and forth a bit to try and clear the tension.
“…”
“....”
“Any ideas? You huff out, forcing yourself to talk away from the situation despite feeling every bone in your body tell you not to.
Bits of swallowed Rainbow Road illuminate the area as Mario shakes his head, nothing coming to mind. Your hands shake as you pace again, Mario and DK’s eyes following your panicked state.
“Everything was going so well, I shouldn't have let you guys down there and separated from the group I-I could have done something.” You ramble, chest rising and falling quicker with every word you ramble.
“Hey, it's not your fault…IT'S HIS!” DK points, Making the Italian furrow his brows.
An argument was sure to ensue now, insults being thrown back and forth while you contemplate your existence. You tried to devise a plan but nothing was coming to mind. The sound of bickering was getting louder and it sure as hell wasn’t helping your situation.
“At least you’ll die without your father thinking you’re a joke.” DK huffs, looking more defeated than anything.
At the end of the day, he was probably acting how he did because he wanted his father's approval. You knew that feeling too well…Back home the only thing you wanted was for your dad to acknowledge how hard you work. You stopped eventually, realizing that you should be proud of yourself regardless of what he or others think. He settled for the same old 9-5 he hated and you followed your heart and dreams. If anything that was far more commendable.
“My dad thinks I'm a joke too,” Mario confirms, the air thick for a moment as DK breathes heavily going to speak again.
“Yeah well….YOUR DAD'S RIGHT!” He shoots back, making you pinch the bridge of your nose as they continue to bicker back and forth.
“ALRIGHT GIRLS.” You interrupt, scowl present as they take the hint to stop.
Arguing wasn't going to solve anything.
“We all have daddy issues, fantastic. Now can we figure out how to get out of here and prove them wrong?” You question, a brow raised as you look between the two of them.
“There has to be a way out...it's not rocket science.” You chuckle, realization hitting you.
“Wait wait….your kart. Follow me!” You interrupt, booking it to the discharged kart with one lone rocket looking like a glimmering beacon of hope. The three of you share a look.
Let's get this shit.
Spoilers for Grey's Anatomy S8 Finale
Enjoy!
The helicopter had passed them. There was no way to get home and everybody started freaking out. "They don't know where we are," Blue Shell panicked. "They don't know where we are. It's because the transmitter's probably been damaged in the crash. If the transmitter's damaged … We could be here for days." "The… The Toads and Toadsworth…" Peach said. "Yeah.." Mario agreed. "Toadsworth has got to have figured out we're missing," Daisy tells the group. "I know he sent someone." Mario, Peach, and Daisy look at each other. Were they actually going to be out there for days?
+++++++++++
Later that evening, Mario is changing Bowser's bandages. Bowser isn't saying anything to him. "Bowser?" Mario called him. "Are you okay?" "I should've said it earlier," Bowser's voice was really weak at this point. "That I loved him. I should've said it earlier." Mario's eyes well up with tears at the mention of Luigi. "He.. He knew," Mario said, nodding. "I think he knew." "He didn't know," Bowser said, shaking his head. He starts breathing slowly.
"Bowser," Mario says his name, firm. "Bowser, hold on. Okay, I need you … I need you to hold on. You'll be okay." "You don't need me," Bowser insists. "You take care of our girls." The King looks over at Peach and Daisy, who are trying to warm up by the fire. A tear falls from Mario's eye as he looks over at the princesses with Bowser. Then, he shakes his head and looks down at Bowser.
"No. Shut up. Shut up. Do you hear me? Shut up." "Luigi's waiting for me," Bowser tells Mario. "I'll be okay." "No!" Mario bursts. "Bowser Sr., no! Hey! No. No. Jr's waiting for you, and the koopalings are waiting for you." Mario's voice starts shaking. "And I am waiting for you. We're gonna go home together, okay?" "Okay.." Bowser says, weakly. Mario grabs his jacket and looks over at Toad. "Hey, watch him for me, alright?" Toad nods with tears in his eyes. "Hey, little guy, I know," Mario squeezes Toad's uninjured shoulder. "We're going to get through this, okay? I need you to hang on a little while longer." Toad reluctantly nods. "That's my best friend," Mario smiles. Toad lets out a mix of a sob and a laugh. The two give each other a fist bump.
Mario goes over to the fire and curls up with his jacket and blanket next to Daisy and Peach. Peach is asleep. "Hey, how are Toad and Bowser?" Daisy asks Mario. "They're good." "Good," Daisy nods. "I'm hungry." "Think of something else," Mario sighs. "I'm hungry." Mario rolls his eyes and pulls a piece of gum out of his pocket. "Lu gave me this piece of gum when the plane took off." Daisy smiles. "He was good for giving out gum." Mario smiles back with tears in his eyes. "I'm gonna miss him." "Yeah," Daisy puts her head on Mario's shoulder. "Me too." Mario sighs and leans on Daisy.
Then, the fire goes out. "Oh, shoot, great," Daisy pokes in the fire to try to get it going again, but it doesn't help. Mario starts falling asleep. "We have one match left," Daisy tells Mario, who's asleep. "Hey," Daisy shakes Mario awake. "No sleeping." She wakes Peach up as well. "Yeah, you have to stay awake." Mario sighs. "Okay." "Peach, you too, friend. I want everyone conscious! Mar, light the match. Careful, it's our last one." As Mario lights the match, the wind immediately blows it out. "You know what, fuck it," Mario opens the piece of gum and breaks it in half. He shares it with Daisy.
++++++++++++
A few hours later, Daisy wakes up and looks around. Everyone's asleep. She sighs and closes her eyes again.
Until a bright light comes into view.
My thoughts on the Super Mario Movie
Tumblr media
My autistic ass needs someone to talk to about this film and I have nobody. I know I don’t post as often anymore on here but I need to let this energy out. Here’s what did work and didn’t work
What did work:
the animation: DAMN. It looked amazing. I loved how smooth they looked on screen and the details of the character models, the background, etc. You can tell they put a lot of love into it. It felt so nice to see our favorite video game characters on screen like this. All of the references were such a joy to find and recognize. It’s also crazy that Mario came from being an 8bit model to this glorious, detailed, 3D model. And some scenes “camera” moved in a way that would be in a game. When Mario and Luigi were on their way to their first plumbing job, the “camera” moved sideways as the first Mario games were side-scrolling. When Toad and Mario were heading to the castle and poor Mario was being thrown around, the “camera” moved around like I guess the newer games? I mean it looked like Super Mario Odyssey but there could be other games, I haven’t played every single one (now I want to). Really cool attention to detail. My autistic ass loves attention to detail. The models looked good as well like Bowser’s scales and the brothers’ clothing. Funny how 3D animation wasn’t as detailed before like with Veggietales and Toy Story 1 but now we have HAIR. You get it.
The music: Some parts hit, some didn’t. I loved the orchestral remixes of our beloved songs. When the kart scene came on, I immediately recognized the music and felt PUMPED, especially when they were making the karts and I heard the Mario Kart 8 theme. I wanted to jump out of my seat but couldn’t cause I didn’t wanna be weird. Hearing the theme songs as well felt satisfying. It scratched that itch I didn’t know I needed to be scratched. I found myself listening to the soundtrack right after. I’m glad they chose 80’s songs rather than fucking Doja Cat or whatever but it still threw me off hearing Take On Me, Holding Out for a Hero, and Mr. Blue Sky. (Cmon Shrek did Holding Out better. No topping it) As much as I love those songs, I remembered that this is an Illumination movie so of course they’d have popular songs. If they left the pop songs in the human world and kept the Mario songs in the Mushroom kingdom, etc, it would’ve made a little more sense. No Sleep til Brooklyn was good tho, made sense cause they live in Brooklyn and they were in the human world.
Chris Pratt: Yes, I know everyone was skeptical of Chris Pratt playing Mario. I love Chris in Guardians of the Galaxy as Peter Quill so I didn’t have much doubt but since he is a celebrity and you know how movies these days (mainly Illumination) love to get big names in their films. I wasn’t disappointed. He was good, not bad. As much as I love Martinet’s iconic Mario, I don’t think I’d be able to handle hearing it the whole time. It’s iconic but let’s be real hearing “let’s-a-go!” the whole time is a bit jarring. Mario’s from Brooklyn so that’s what Chris tried. And his Wahoo! was good! You knew he didn’t want to ruin this character because of how much it holds. He TRIED. And Martinet as Giuseppe saying “it’s a perfect!” Felt like he was sharing the torch with Chris. He squished all the critics doubts by saying “he’s Mario too, it’s fine. Deal with it.” Hearing the voice made me smile so wide, it was like hearing an old friend. I think he even said that doing Mario’s voice too much hurt so we don’t want him to feel any pain for our sake! We all owe Chris an apology. You did great bro
Seth Rogan: I love DK. He’s big, loud, goofy, and strong. Seth did that right and honestly idk who else would play him. Hearing Seth’s iconic laugh made me laugh, idk who can hate it. It fit DK as it kind of…sounded ape-like? The whole fight between Mario and DK was straight out of a game. I loved the interaction between DK and Mario. They’re enemies at first but soon, they respect each other as in the games. I wish that wasn’t the whole character development between two characters in the movie, I wish it was Mario & Luigi, Mario and toad, or Mario and Peach. Hell, even Mario and Bowser. But this is only the first movie so we’ll see more
Anna-Taylor Joy: not much to say about her. I think Peach was fun and I’m glad they didn’t go the “damsel in distress” or “girl boss” route. I’m tired of woke. We get it, we’re becoming SOMEWHAT better in terms of shit like that but god we don’t need it every time. Peach was a badass, she cared for her kingdom and subjects, and she was sweet. That’s Peach! It wasn’t the “I don’t need no man” or forced relationship with Mario and that was good. I loved Peach’s racing outfit too and all the power ups. Peach was awesome, I’m glad they didn’t ruin her
Charlie Day: I haven’t seen much of him but wow I loved his Luigi! I always loved Luigi, he was always the b guy and he deserves a lot of love. He’s adorable. I wish Luigi had more of an interaction with Bowser. We could’ve gotten a lot of funny scenes with them together (of course it’d be fuel to the shipping fire) and it was cut too short. I mean, bowser didn’t need MUCH from Luigi, he just needed information so it wouldn’t make sense why he’d keep him around when he could throw him in the dungeon with Luma, the penguins, etc. And the whole thing with Mario and Luigi “sticking together” was nice but…they weren’t together AS much? Yes, Bowser kidnapped him but idk it didn’t really feel so emotional. Their team up at the end was amazing of course, had the biggest smile with the star music on. Luigi must be protected
Keegan-Michael Key: His Toad was good! Kind of wished we saw more of Toad and Mario together but he was the comic relief. Sucked he wasn’t in it as much but maybe next movie.
Jack Black: MY MAN. GOD HE KILLED IT. Was that any surprise? No, everyone knew Jack was gonna bring his a-game and he did. Bowser’s singing was amazing, I was cracking up during that scene. PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES aah it’s good. I loved how Bowser went from his usual scary self to a big sweetheart who just wants to love someone. Yea, he did threaten to kill Peach’s kingdom if she didn’t marry him but hey he said he wouldn’t if she agreed! You can absolutely tell Jack loved his role and that’s so important in movies for it to turn out well. Honestly, I’d say Bowser was my favorite in the whole movie! (Ngl, Bowser kinda..) Bowser was intimidating at parts, especially with Luigi. He was a lot scarier than I remembered and damn he is a power house. Im surprised that I didn’t see him utilize his shell and spin with it but whatever.
The story: yes there wasn’t much of a big plot. Do I care? Not really. It’s Mario! You don’t really need a plot per se because you already know the characters, you know the concept of Super Mario. To me, it was as if I was playing a really well animated game. It was fast, fun, and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling. The plot WAS Bowser coming, Mario and Luigi starting a company and not feeling like they’re on top. You don’t need a different story with Mario. Yes, this movie wasn’t on the level of Into the Spider-Verse or Puss in Boots like we were expecting but it didn’t need to be. I had a great time with a story or not
The sound effects: god, the little kid in me wanted to SCREAM. It felt so satisfying to hear all the sounds we hear in the games from hitting a shell, hitting the mystery box, or landing on the flag pole at the end of a level. They really hit the nail with them. And Luigi’s ringtone was GameCube!!
Oh yeah I loved Kamek’s voice. He sounded exactly how I pictured it. He was great. Loved the scene of him dressing up as Peach and getting ANGRY that he didn’t kiss Bowser
What didn’t work:
The slow motion moments: this was when I remembered “oh yea, illumination made this.” Some of the moments were fine with Mario giving Peach a side eye (with rizz). That was funny. But all the other times, it felt like the screaming goats in Thor Love and Thunder. In other words, it was used too much. To me, the slow-motion parts are just “haha, their voice is deep and slow. They move slowly. Haha funny joke.”
The songs: I did say the songs worked but they didn’t at the same time. I LOVED hearing all the familiar songs and sounds from the games. I liked the 80’s songs as Mario was made in the 80’s but it didn’t fit movie. As I said, it would’ve been better if they kept the 80’s songs in the human world and the Mario-esque songs in the Mushroom Kingdom, etc. But Illumination has gotta…illuminate I guess
The pacing: I felt like it was TOO quick. They go from Mario ending up in the Mushroom Kingdom and he finds Toad with barely an introduction and they rush to the castle. Then Mario finds Peach who just so happens to be going to the same place at the right time. There wasn’t enough time to breathe and there could’ve been so many good character interactions and development if they made it longer. We could have had more of Bowser and Luigi, Mario and Toad and Peach. I mean there are lots of characters and they have yet to introduce Yoshi, the Koopalings, and Daisy so hopefully it will be better in the second.
Illumination: I’m not too crazy with this studio. I love Despicable Me 1&2 but the rest are just meh. There were moments in the movie that were just so like this studio that it somewhat felt weird. The plumbing scene was funny but I think that is a good example. The whole thing with the dog being malicious was an Illumination thing. So were some of the models of the humans. The songs. Idk. If this movie was made by another studio like Dreamworks or Sony, maybe it would’ve been better??
Overall, I’d give this movie a 7.5/10. It had great moments and a lot going for it but there is still room for improvement. And that’s completely okay because we still have another movie. We only saw these characters on screen for ONE movie so there’s still more to be seen. I say fuck the critics, they don’t know what they’re talking about. This movie didn’t need to be woke or whatever. It almost didn’t need a plot. This movie was such a beautiful love letter to all of the Nintendo fans and I was smiling the entire time. They knew not to make it flop because of how iconic and beloved Mario is. I felt like a little kid again as I watched my favorite video game characters on screen and now I feel the need to play my Wii or switch. I look forward to seeing what they do in the next film.
TLDR: go see it. It’s a lot of fun
Also LET ME VOICE YOSHI I CAN DO HIS VOICE. IM GOING TO BE ON A TEACHER’S SALARY IM GONNA BE BROKE
Chapter 8
“So, this friend of yours. Who is it that got captured by Bowser?” Donkey asked as he, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad were sitting around a table having some breakfast. The table consisted of bananas. Lots and lots of bananas. The dining room they were in was large and matched the rest of the jungle décor that was found throughout the large castle.
“It was our new friend Y/N. She comes from the same place as Mario and Luigi,” Peach answered.
“Ah. I see. I bet this is all a trap.”
“It has to be.”
“We have to get her back though. One way or another,” Mario said.
The doors to the dining room burst open with such force. Luigi and Toad jumped in fright from two guard Kongs coming in.
“Your highness, there are some Koopas here attacking the city,” one of them spoke, clearly out of breath.
“There’s a lot of them. They’re pillaging everything!” The other guard spoke.
Donkey sighed, “Great. Let’s just hope a few karts were done before they got here. Gather more guards for battle.”
“Yes, your majesty,” both guards replied and scurried out of the dining room.
“Ugh! What a pain!” Toad said.
“Yeah, really,” Luigi agreed.
“We need to get moving. I knew Dad was going to get up early along with a few of the mechanics to work on the karts this morning.” Donkey got up from his seat and everyone followed behind him.
Everyone made their way toward the garage where karts were built. It thankfully hadn’t been broken into and a good number of karts were finished. A lot of them had guns that shot out banana peels, turtle shells, and coconuts. They also were large, and some could seat up to four people.
“These are looking good!” Donkey said as he inspected some of them.
“Yep, just finished the last one,” Cranky replied.
“That’s great! We need to get going and help the city. Koopas are here attacking.”
Cranky’s eyes widened, “Yes, let’s go. Everyone! Pick your karts and hustle!”
The mechanics along with several other Kongs were scrambling around, picking out karts that would best fit them. While everyone was doing that, Peach, Mario, Luigi, and Toad had headed out of the garage to help some of the guards fight off the Koopas. Power ups were used along the way by the princess and her three companions. The Koopas had broken into the stadium and had grabbed some of the power ups that were left in there from the previous day.
With most of the Koopas knocked down, the Kongs in their karts came out and shot down more of the enemy. Peach opened up the entry doors of the kingdom and saw that the Yoshies were unharmed. Relieved, she climbed up onto her pink Yoshi. Mario, Luigi, and Toad got to their Yoshies and climbed up. The Kongs in the karts had used a different exit/entrance area made specially for karts. They met up with Peach and the others.
“Alright. To Bowser’s Castle everyone! Let’s go!” Peach shouted as she got her Yoshi going. Everyone followed her as she led the way.
A crowd of turtles was waiting for the princess, plumbers, Kongs, and mushroom man not too far ahead of them. The turtles had spears at the ready with a few of the turtles hovering in the air with their white wings keeping them aloft and weapons out.
“We can do this!” Peach said encouragingly.
“Attack!” Cranky shouted.
Everyone started attacking the turtles. Spears flew and coconuts hit the turtles. Banana peels were shot out to have the turtles on the ground trip over them. Shells were fired at the turtles which made them extremely angry. Yoshies were jumping, dodging, shooting eggs, and ground-pounding whenever they could.
“Lu! Behind you!” Mario shouted as he could see a couple of turtles trying to sneak up on the plumber in green.
Luigi turned around, had his Yoshi jump up and ground-pound the turtles, “Phew! Thanks Mario!”
Mario shot a quick smile to his brother before taking care of more turtles.
Toad was struggling a bit, but eventually was able to get the Yoshi to do the ground-pound on a turtle. He then moved over to where Peach was as she was surrounded by six turtles.
“Need some help, Princess?” Toad asked.
“Yes. Let’s get rid of these guys!” Peach answered.
She and Toad worked on getting their Yoshies to coordinate the ground-pound move. The pink Yoshi used ground-pound and laid an egg to shoot at one of the other turtles. Toad’s yellow Yoshi followed the moves of the pink one. Everything looked good until more Koopas arrived.
“C’mon! Is this ever going to end?!” Toad asked frustrated.
The princess glared at the crowd coming and before she could move herself and her Yoshi, spears were flown and landed in a circle around her. Her eyes widened and her Yoshi panicked from almost getting skewered.
“The king wants to see you at his castle right away,” a Koopa wearing blue armor and a blue shell said. He walked up to the circle of spears that surrounded Peach and the pink Yoshi.
Peach gave a glare to the blue Koopa, “That’s exactly where we’re going.”
“His majesty wanted us to bring you to him specifically if we happened to see you.” The blue Koopa had more troops surround Mario, Luigi, Toad, and the Kongs, “If you refuse to come with me, we’ll turn your companions into shish kabobs. You wouldn’t want that would you?”
Peach was infuriated, but not surprised, that the Koopas would go this far. She knew everyone was starting to get tired from the fighting. They had been at it for a while now. She didn’t want to see them get hurt. She glanced behind her at everyone and stared into Mario’s eyes.
Mario’s gaze at the princess showed concern but understanding. He nodded his head telling her to surrender.
“Okay. I will come with you,” Peach responded. “Do not hurt them.” She got off her Yoshi.
“Worry not. They’ll be fine,” the blue shell Koopa said.
A cage was brought out and some of the Koopas went to remove their spears. Peach was put inside the cage. The pink Yoshi tried to follow the princess but was pushed back by some of the troops.
“Princess!” Toad shouted as he had tried to get his Yoshi moving. He wanted to go after her, but Mario on his red Yoshi stood in front of them. He shook his head no to the mushroom man. Toad made fists, hung his head low and then stared up at where the princess was in the cage.
Peach looked back at Toad with saddened eyes, but soon turned her expression into a smile. She wanted to give them hope that everything would be okay.
The Koopas soon started walking or flying off. There were four Koopas who carried the princess away by air. They knew their king wouldn’t want to wait too long to see the princess. Meanwhile, other troops were scattering about to try and find more power ups to search for the SuperStar.
The Kongs all were worn out from the driving and shooting at their enemy. The Yoshies were exhausted from the physical work they did. Mario, Luigi, and Toad had gotten off their Yoshies and let them rest.
“So, now we have two people captured. That’s just fantastic,” Donkey said.
“We need to head over to the castle. They’ll be expecting us,” Cranky replied. “For now, let’s all catch our breath and fix up the karts if they need any fixing. Luckily, we’re not too far away from our kingdom.”
All the Kongs got out of their karts and rested under some nearby trees for shade. The plumbers, mushroom man, and Yoshies did the same.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lava castle came into Peach’s view, and she sighed irritably. At least she should be able to see Y/N. She hoped Y/N was okay. The four Koopas who were carrying her cage slowed their wings down and landed gently on the ground. They walked toward the towering doors, and they opened thanks to two guards who were right there. The Koopas walked inside and toward the throne room.
Peach took in her surroundings. It hadn’t been too long ago that she was in Bowser’s place. Although last time, his place had been a floating island with some of the same scenery. This time, the castle was back in the ground. She wasn’t sure if Bowser had two different castles or if this one in the ground was the same as the floating island one.
It shouldn’t matter though. What did matter was making sure that Y/N was alright and settling whatever scheme Bowser had up his sleeve. Two other large doors greeted the Koopas and Peach and they again opened with ease by two other guards. Seated on the throne at the other end of the room was Bowser with Kamek standing beside the throne.
He had left his piano room and decided to go to his throne room for a bit. He had then been informed by his intelligence team about the capture of the princess. So here he was, happily waiting for her. His eyes softened at seeing his Peaches. He was thrilled to have her in his sight again.
“Princess Peach. Wonderful to make your acquaintance again,” Bowser said as he got up from his chair and the cage was set down.
The princess gave Bowser a disgusted look, “Enough of the pleasantries. Where is Y/N?” She stood up in her cage, wrapping her hands around the iron bars.
“Relax, relax. All in good time. She is fine. She resides in the dungeon below,” Bowser answered.
“Bowser, what is it that you want this time?” Peach wanted to get straight to the point.
“Cutting corners I see,” Bowser smirked. He found Peach attractive when she was angry. “It’s really simple my dear.” He began walking closer to the cage as she narrowed her eyes to him.
“You see,” Bowser began. “What I want is…to show you how much you mean to me.”
“By keeping me in a cage?” Peach asked with irritation.
“No. Of course not. I will have you released from there.” Bowser turned to Kamek, motioning for him to come to where he and the princess were.
The MagiKoopa followed his king’s command and met up with them.
“Release the princess from her cage and bind her wrists,” Bowser said.
“Y-Yes, Sire,” Kamek said. He used his wand to open the cage door and immediately sent out pink bindings around Peach’s wrists. Her arms were forced behind her back with her wrists tied.
Peach grimaced at the slight jolt she felt from the bindings. Unfortunately, the bindings had some lightning bolts in them. Not enough to cause severe injury, but enough to give a sting.
“That is so you don’t get any ideas about trying to escape from me,” Bowser said. “Now, transport us to the music room Kamek.”
“Right away your majesty,” Kamek said. He spun his wand and cast a transportation spell on the king and the princess.
The two were instantly taken out of the throne room and moved into the music room. A distinct clicking sound could be heard from the doors of the music room indicating that Peach was locked inside with Bowser. She saw a grand piano sitting in the middle of the room and the king walking towards the piano.
Bowser sat down and motioned for the princess to sit with him at the piano. Peach stood in her spot, not moving an inch. He grumbled and walked over to her. He picked her up causing her to gasp. He gently sat her down on top of the piano and opened the lid.
“I have a song that was written especially for you Peaches. I hope you will like it,” Bowser said as he positioned his hands above the keys.
Peach rolled her eyes and thought, ‘Great. A song to put me to sleep.’
Bowser hit the first key and then the next one with ease. The melody played softly and then he began to sing. He sang each word he and Y/N had written with all his heart. He stared at Peach as she looked at him with her eyes widened. She gasped when the scenery changed to a grassy field with a waterfall.
He continued his song looking at Peach and noticing she was paying more attention to the scenery than to him. It hurt slightly, but it was probably because she hadn’t experienced anything like this before. As he was reaching the end of the song, Peach turned to look at him. He smiled as the princess had her gaze focused on him.
He hit the last note and stared longingly into her eyes. Red clashing with blue. Peach’s expression was one of…how would Bowser describe it? Uncertainty and audacity that he would play such a lovey, dovey song for her. She felt sick.
“Princess?” Bowser asked with pleading eyes. “What did you think?”
Peach couldn’t answer right away. Why in the world was he trying to show her his affection again? She already rejected him once and when it came down to it, she wanted to do it again. “The song…has a nice melody. As for the words…No…I do not feel that way…”
Bowser could feel his heart split and crack in two. How could his song fail him? He had hoped she would’ve paid more attention to see that he would do anything and everything for her. He loved her so much. He hoped she would look past his misdeeds and give him another chance. That was not going to be the case.
He had to ask anyway though, “Does this mean you will not marry me?”
Peach looked at him with disgust, “Of course it means I will not marry you! I told you before, I do not want to marry you. I still don’t. I never will.”
Bowser felt tears pricking at the corner of his eyes. Rejected again by his love. He wanted this time to be different and the same result occurred. He growled and slammed the piano lid down. This caused Peach to jump slightly.
Bowser got up from the piano seat and looked at Peach, “Since you have once again rejected me, you should know that I have my troops ready to attack your kingdom. If you want to change your mind now, I will give you this moment to.”
Peach, once more not surprised to hear that, stared daggers into him, “You may have your troops at the entrance to my kingdom; however, you should know that my kingdom will not go down so easily. Mario, the Kongs, and everyone will be helping my kingdom and set me and Y/N free from you.”
Bowser chuckled, “Oh please. As if I didn’t see that coming. Yes Princess, I’m very aware of the Kongs and those pesky plumbers coming to your aid. I have everything sorted out for them when they arrive.”
“They’ll take your troops down. Of that, I am certain.”
“Yeah, yeah. Sure, they will. Are you certain you do not wish to change your mind?”
“Yes. My mind will not be swayed. The answer will always be no.”
“Humph. Very well then. Kamek!”
The wizard appeared in the music room, “Sire?”
“Take the princess down into the dungeon and bring Y/N to me. Inform the troops that they may attack the Mushroom Kingdom,” Bowser said.
“Right away,” Kamek replied sadly.
Bowser didn’t notice the change in tone from Kamek. He sat down in his piano seat again. Kamek had cast a spell to lift Peach up into the air from the piano and transported her and himself to the dungeon.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N had been resting against the stone wall when she heard the door to the dungeon open. She peered over to her left and saw a very familiar pink dress, “Peach?”
Peach turned to the voice, “Y/N?” She smiled at seeing the girl again. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. You? Are you…okay?”
“I’m okay.”
“In you go Princess,” Kamek said as he opened the cell next to Y/N’s. He gave the princess a gentle push. He locked the door and removed the bindings from her wrists. He then walked to Y/N’s cell. “He wishes to see you now.”
Y/N looked up at Kamek, her (eye color) eyes full of determination and some nervousness. “Okay.”
“Y/N, you shouldn’t go- “Peach tried to stop them.
“It’s okay. I must,” Y/N said.
“Why?”
“Because…I know that he…he needs someone to comfort him…” Y/N turned her gaze away from the princess. “I know that you rejected him. He sang his song for you, and you said no. I knew you would. I tried to tell him that and he didn’t listen to me.”
“Y/N, are you…are you actually friends with him?” Peach was shocked.
She turned to back to Peach, “I…I don’t know. I mean, I want…I want to be…”
“Wait. Wait a second. You want to be friends with him? Did he have his wizard brainwash you?”
Kamek gave Peach a glare, “I did no such thing.”
“He’s telling the truth,” Y/N said to Peach. “I haven’t been brainwashed. I was captured here because Bowser wanted someone to help him write his song for you. I’ll tell you everything.”
Peach sighed, “Okay. Go on.”
Y/N began, “I did help him write the song, but I felt there would be no point in it. He had been a bit rough at first with me.”
Peach stared at Y/N as she continued her story.
“We worked on the song and then he…he had me sing for him. It was to help bring some inspiration for writing the song for you. I sang the song Unconditional by Katy Perry. It was at that point that he seemed to be less aggressive with me. I was even given a room to replace the cage I was originally in.”
I got to walk around the castle and Bowser showed me his library. It was amazing. All kinds of documents and pictures about various places. We had a nice time together and I got to eat a meal with him. I really got to see his softer side.”
Peach looked at Y/N in surprise, “It sounds as though you…you have feelings for him…” She gulped, “Do you…have feelings for him?”
Y/N stared at Peach with a slight blush, “I-I…”
“Y/N, you realize what he has done right? You can’t be with someone like that. Besides, if he really has a soft side, why did he have you put into a cell? He gave you an upgrade only to downgrade your accommodations.” Peach couldn’t bear the thought of Y/N being beside the king of the Koopas. “I don’t want to see him hurt you more than he already has.”
“Peach, it’s all really complicated. I have been hurt by him, but I know he’s lonely. He wants a companion. If I could be there for him as a friend, I want to try.” Given that Y/N had more time to think over what Kamek told her earlier, she really wanted to believe him.
“Y/N please don’t go with the wizard. Stay here. Mario and the others are coming, and they’ll get us both out of here.”
“I know you’re just looking out for me, and I appreciate it, but I must go. If I don’t, I think Bowser’s heart will be in more turmoil. I know he’s hurting right now from your rejection.”
Peach stared at Y/N with concern and understanding. She sighed, “Okay. Please be careful. If he tries anything on you, run away.”
Y/N nodded to Peach.
“His majesty shall not try anything on Y/N. I think his heart will soften from her,” Kamek said. “Now, we’ve kept him waiting long enough. Let’s go Y/N.” He opened the door to Y/N’s cell, and she walked out.
Kamek and Y/N walked out of the dungeon and Y/N gave Peach a quick glance and smile. Peach stared on as the two closed the door and she slumped down, leaning against the stone wall of her cell.
‘I hope nothing happens to you Y/N,’ Peach thought.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, it’s about time you two got here,” Bowser said impatiently as Kamek and Y/N walked into the music room.”
“Apologies Sire. Y/N was speaking with the princess,” Kamek replied.
Y/N looked up at Bowser. She was a bit nervous, but she hoped to be able to give him comfort.
“I see. Leave us alone Kamek and lock the door.”
The wizard bowed and walked out of the room, locking the door. Although Bowser ordered for him to have the troops attack the Mushroom Kingdom, he decided to be nosy and listen in on Bowser’s and Y/N’s conversation. He stuck his head against the door to hear them.
“So, Y/N, you told me that the princess would like this song. The only part she enjoyed was the melody. She didn’t even like the lyrics. You ruined everything for me.”
It hurt Y/N to hear him say that to her, “Bowser, I know this is hard on you-“
“I’m not finished. You said the lyrics were much better. They weren’t coming off as being possessive. They were meaningful and had promises written within them. You call yourself a songwriter? I would say you are anything but.”
Y/N felt her body shake. This was extremely difficult to take in. She knew he was getting some of his anger out on her. The way he was going about it though was not good. It caused a sadness to build up in her. She almost couldn’t think when he said she’s not a songwriter. Music was everything to Y/N and to be insulted in such a way…she moved her down and stared at the floor. Her eyes were beginning to water.
“You have no further use for me. I will have Kamek escort you back to the dungeon,” Bowser said as he stared at Y/N’s downcast expression. He could see tears forming.
Y/N, feeling his red eyed gaze on her, lifted her head back up and the tears flowed down. Her (eye color) eyes became a lighter shade of their usual color, and she gave him a glare. “I know this hurts you deeply. I didn’t want to see your heart break. I know you’re getting your anger out on me. I’m hurting too.”
Bowser stared at Y/N intensely.
“What you said to me just now. I don’t appreciate it, but I know it’s your irritation and hurt talking. I…” She took a deep breath. In and out. “I wanted to try and comfort you right now. I’m not sure on how to go about it…if you want a friend, I’m willing to try and be here for you. I know you said I don’t have any further use for you, but still…”
He was flabbergasted by what Y/N said. He was very harsh on her, which she greatly expressed, and yet she still wanted to…be there for him. His eyes widened as he looked at Y/N who still had a few tears cascading down her face.
“Everyone needs a friend. That includes you. If I can’t be of use to you as a songwriter, perhaps I could help you out as a friend.” The tears were slowing their stream down and Y/N’s body was beginning to relax. “Even though the princess has said no to being by your side, I’m saying yes to you. If you…want to take me.”
Bowser never had anyone speak to him the way Y/N did. He was shocked that she still suggested being there for him. He had hurt her so much with his words and actions. How could she possibly want to be with him?
“The time we had together a few days ago was very nice. I would like to have more moments like that,” Y/N said interrupting his thoughts.
He knew what she was referring to and he did enjoy those moments. Maybe…he could have someone else in his life. Even if it weren’t the princess, he could, hopefully, be content with another. He felt wanted and he wanted that feeling. He wanted to be noticed and cared for by someone special. Even if this were to be a friendship, perhaps it could bloom into something more later?
Bowser knew how he felt about Y/N, but he kept denying the feelings. Now that Y/N was offering her hand to him in friendship, he felt he needed to take it. He needed to make up for what he had been done to her, “Y/N…”
“Yes?” This was the calmest she had ever seen Bowser be. Is he taking her offer?
“Y/N, I…I’m so sorry. I’m sorry for hurting you.” He then walked up to her and reached out to take her hands into his.
She gasped at the contact and looked up at him. Her cheeks were slightly reddened. He was staring so sincerely at her as he grasped her hands. He ran his right thumb over her entire left hand.
“I’m sorry for how…how I treated you,” he continued. His grasp around her hands had tightened. “I…appreciate your offer.”
She continued staring into his red eyes as he spoke more.
“I want to take what you’re giving. I want…your friendship.” He smiled down at her.
She released a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding and gave a small, shy smile, “That makes me very happy.” Her cheeks were beginning to turn crimson.
He found her blushing face adorable. He reached a hand up and used one of his fingers to caress her cheek. She gasped once again from the contact and looked like a tomato at this point.
“U-Uh Bowser…um…friends don’t usually have this kind of….in-intimate contact…” She couldn’t help stumbling over her words. She also was not used to this kind of touch.
He retracted his finger and had let go of her hands, “Sorry.”
“N-No, it’s okay…d-don’t feel ashamed. It um…” She stopped herself from finishing her thought allowed.
“It was…” He felt like teasing her a little.
She looked at him with her blushing cheeks and then back down to the floor.
“I’m waiting. It was what…nice?” he asked with a smirk.
She couldn’t deny it, “Um, y-yes…” She held her hands together in front of her and her eyes were still downcast.
“Well, I’m glad you found it to be so nice, Y/N. Perhaps…we could build up to more kinds of contact as time goes on.” He chuckled, enjoying the teasing.
She widened her eyes, mouth hung open. She then covered her face with her hands. How embarrassing! This teasing and to go so far as flirting in such a way! She could hardly handle it. He was so open now and didn’t seem to care all too much about what he was saying. He loved seeing her get flustered like this. He would have to do this more often. He laughed at seeing her cover her face. She moved her hands from her face and gave him her an embarrassed look.
“Couldn’t help myself,” he said.
She cleared her throat, “Clearly…”
“Well, to get more serious now, I would like to have you stay in your room again. Keep you out of the dungeon.”
Her eyes glowed, “R-Really? For real this time?”
“Yes, for real this time.”
“Thank you! But…”
“But what?”
Would he still keep the princess locked up? Does he still want to find the SuperStar? Would he have his troops go off to another battle? Is he still going to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom? These questions plagued her mind, “Are you still going through with your plans?”
“I…” What was the point in going through with his plans now? Things hadn’t totally gone as thought out originally, but he still got a companion to have beside him. “I will…stop them.”
“That’s a relief. So, you’ll have Peach go back home and bring all your troops back here then?”
“Right.”
She smiled at him.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to have dinner with me this evening?”
“Sure! That would be great!”
“Okay. I’ll have Kamek escort you to your room.”
She gave him a grin and went to give him a hug, being careful to avoid the bracelets he wore. The king was adorned in black bands with spikes on them. He was surprised, not expecting the hug, but he wrapped her in his arms, being mindful of the spikes on his bands.
“Thank you, Bowser.”
“You’re welcome.”
The two let each other go and began walking towards the large doors. Kamek, on the other side, quickly moved out of the way so that he wouldn’t get smacked in the face.
“You were eavesdropping,” Bowser said to the wizard.
“Uh,” the wizard started and cleared his throat. “Y-Yes…”
Y/N chuckled and gave Kamek a gentle smile.
Bowser scolded the wizard for a moment and had him escort Y/N back to her room.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“We’ve made decent progress in getting to Bowser’s castle. We should arrive there by tomorrow,” Cranky said.
“That’s good,” Donkey replied.
“I hope Bowser hasn’t hurt Y/N or Peach,” Luigi said.
“Me too,” Mario replied.
“I hope so,” Toad said. “I want to think that both of them are still in one piece.”
The Kongs, plumbers, and mushroom man all had worked on making their way toward where Bowser resides, and they had traveled a long way. They found a forest to stop at for some more rest and to get some shut eye. Everyone did their own thing by getting a few fires going, eating some food, and getting in some water. Everyone was worn out from the day’s events, but they were happy with the progress they made.
Mario laid down on the grass and stared up at the treetops. He had a feeling that everything was going to get extremely difficult tomorrow. It was to be expected, but he couldn’t help thinking that something more was going to come their way. He tried to put the thought aside and focus on getting some sleep. Thoughts of seeing Peach and Y/N again filled his mind. He wanted both to be safe and sound.
