Secret Valentine hosted by Writeblr Café
Let's spread love in our writing community with a lovely game of Secret Valentine! After our successful Secret Santa gift exchange (read all gifts here) we are hosting another written gift exchange. As you all know, our main goal is bringing writers together. We aspire to inspire! So join the fun, write something wonderful for a fellow writer, and receive a written gift from your Secret Valentine.
Who can participate?
This event is open for all writers. Any writer can choose to spread some love and gift a present through their words!
How it works:
Fill in this form to participate (direct link below)
Deadlines:
25th January for signing up through filling in the form
27th January for receiving your Secret Valentine target through dms
14th February for posting your writing gift tagged #wcsecretvalentine within the first 5 tags and tag who the gift is for as well as @writeblrcafe
If you still have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask in the comment section or send us a curious ask! We promise we don’t bite (unless you are in love with vampires, then we will bite you passionately.) We will keep our shadows hidden by keeping each other warm.

Join our second live write-in on our Discord server to work on a writing project you have. Get inspired by your fellow writers to write! Writing together has many benefits, among greater accountability for your writing schedule and the possibility to get others interested in your story.
You can video stream yourself writing (or not), everyone will be muted, so we can concentrate on writing. We can chat over text and motivate each other through writing sprints. The goal is to have fun writing together, there’s no pressure to finish a piece or reach a certain word count. Remember: It doesn't need to be perfect, it is great because only you can write your story.

Every first Sunday of the month, we host a live reading session on our Discord server, giving you a safe space to read your writing and get encouraging feedback. The next live reading session will be taking place on 17th March
Readers: Please keep in mind that you have about 10 minutes to read your writing or your piece of writing shouldn't be longer than 1500 words. All writing is welcomed, from poems to short stories to WIP drabbles
Listeners: You are welcome to listen and give audio feedback or join the chat in the voice channel. Everyone can join to listen and chat during the event, which will run for two hours. If you are not comfortable speaking out loud and revealing your voice, you don't have to. You can still join the event as an active listener and text in the chat.

Inaugural book club meeting
Join our first book club meeting this Sunday 7th April at 2 pm (UTC) hosted on Discord
Join writeblrcafé’s newly founded book club! Whether you are a writer or a reader, if you are looking for a fun digital get-together, this is your chance!
This Sunday we are going to do a deep dive into The Pearl by John Steinbeck. It only has 48 pages, so it can be read in one sitting or a few days. We plan to read longer books in the future, this is just to give everyone the chance to join.
We will discuss the book and talk about the themes, character development, and writing style. As well as just our favorite parts. Hopefully by analyzing the writing of one of the classics, we can take away ways to improve our own writing and/ or become better readers!

Cozy Christmas reading
Live session on 28th December hosted on Discord
Let's come together in the spirit of Christmas and read our stories to each other! We provide a safe space for writers to read their writing and get encouraging feedback on it.

Poetry Chain (for all poets)
Writeblr Café is dedicated to bringing writers together. That's why we are hosting a poetry chain again! What's more fun than writing a poem? Writing a poem in collaboration with other poets! Melting your different poetic styles into one great piece of poetry. Are you ready to write together?
How to participate
Write any two words in the comment section of this post. That is your entry to participate. Once we have collected 20 words by 10 participating writers, we will post the start of the poetry chain with the word collection and tag all participants. Then you decide who goes first and from there to reblog the post and add your two verses until all words are used.
Rules
Write two verses using two words from our collection, then tag another poet who participates to reblog it and continue with two verses using two other words from the collection, and so on. Always include the word collection at the beginning of your reblogged post and cross out the words you used. Once all words are used, the poetry chain is finished and will be posted to our blog.
Please reblog this post to spread the word.
We hope many poets will participate. Don't worry if you don't get in, we will host many more poetry chains!

'tis the season to be jolly!
To spread the season of giving and being given love, Writeblr Cafe would like to present to you a game of Secret Santa for all our fellow writers. Last year we featured a lovely gift exchange, so we decided to host Secret Santa again. If you participate, you will dedicate a piece of writing to a fellow writer and receive a piece of writing from another writer in return.
