Well, Wayward Pines is as brutal as ever. Not sure I’m the biggest fan of the first episode of season two. I don’t really buy Kate committing suicide. Yes, the rebellion fell, but I don’t think that would or should have elicited such a strong reaction. It just seems contrived. Like the writers needed to make things more difficult for the new protagonist, so they got rid of Kate.

The rebellion falling also struck me as iffy. I might buy it if the Rebellion were fledgling and this was the first Reckoning they’d suffered. But the cork board full of crossed out photographs proves otherwise, so I’m not sure what made this Reckoning notable enough for them to give up. Maybe I just missed something? Kate hadn’t even been confirmed dead at that point. 

Really hoping they’re not just killing everyone from the first season to prop up the struggles of the new protagonist.
