Tod Cutler – Italian 14th to 15th Century War Hammer – Dragon Hammer
This Italian medieval war hammer is based on a piece from the Venice Museum dated 1380.  Housed at The Museo Civico Correr in Venice, Italy. Francesco II da Carrara.  The original was a staff weapon at 20cm wide and this has been scaled down to be a hammer. War hammers generally had a faceted hammer for powerful concussive blows and a sharper pointed side which could be used for piercing and puncturing. Based on a piece from Venice Museum and dated 1380 . The head is cast bronze and steel and matched with a bronze end cap and all the components are securely fitted to a stout and robust ash hardwood haft.
War hammers generally had a faceted hammer for blows and a sharper pointed side which could be used for piercing/ripping.

The sword of the day is the war hammer.

Hammers are a common weapon on battlefields across the world. The weapon we’re discussing today, though, is the European war hammer. This weapon gained a huge amount of popularity in the late medieval period, as a direct result of advancements in armor. There are generally two ways to deal with a set of plate; either you can apply blunt-force trauma, or you can use a reinforced point to pierce it. The European warhammer offers both of these options, making it about the best anti-armor weapon on the battlefield. They tended to be much smaller than they are generally depicted as in fantasy media like D&D, since a weapon that can’t be used quickly isn’t particularly useful.

I remember when I got into War hammer and I went to an official GW (game company who owns war hammer) workshop, and the guy was telling me about how I could make up my own faction and he was like "ya so a quick way to name them is- well whats your favorite animal? and my favorite is beavers, because during the winter they run little hotels for the other animals to hibernate in, so I said (forgetting that "beaver" has an alternate meaning) beaver, and he stopped and looked at me, slightly confused, then he asked what my favorite color was and I said red, and he was like "I guess you could uh... name them the red beavers..." and we just looked at eachother and I left without buying anything.

Tiny war hammer! I had to make the rivets myself from 12g house wire. This is going to be part of a gallery showing about tiny things, what should I make next?
