A fluffy Hankcon
Commissioned by @thenorthernratt on Twitter, asking for a scene at the dog park after Connor has deviated.
"Do you think  Sumo gets lonely?" Connor asks one evening. Hank is reading a worn copy of a trashy vintage sci-fi novel while Connor watches a movie that had been described as "life-changing". He's spending more time watching Sumo than the film. The dog is lying on the floor between them, sleeping. His chest rises and falls with each slow, deep breath, and sometimes his paws twitch. Connor often wonders what he dreams of.
“He doesn’t meet a lot of other dogs - do you think he misses their company?”
Hank turns a page.
"Nah. He's never been good with other dogs, no matter how hard I tried to socialise him. Territorial, I guess." "Or moody. No idea where he got that from," Connor says, smiling.
Hank doesn't even glance at him, just gives him a light shove with his foot.
"If you're worried, we can take him to the dog park," Hank says, licking a thumb and turning a page. "Just don't expect him to be interested in the other dogs."
A dog park. Connor's thirium pump beats for a few quick beats before returning to normal. A park. For dogs. Full of dogs. It's not that he didn't know the concept existed, he's just never really thought about it as a tangible place.
"Yes please," he says softly, almost a whisper, staring at Sumo's twitching nose. From the corner of his eye he sees Hank smile.
Hank eats an early lunch the next day, and, with the weather sunny and cool, they head towards the park. It's a new area for Connor, about a ten minute walk from home. Fenced high and divided into two sections - one for small dogs, one for large dogs - it's the perfect place for dogs to play and make friends at.
Connor stands in the middle of the big dog enclosure, overwhelmed. Hank stands next to him, grinning. Sumo is wading through mud in a corner.
"You doin' okay, buddy?" Hank laughs, tapping his finger gently at Connor's temple, where Connor can guess his LED is going wild.
"It's just. So many dogs," he murmurs, trying to take it all in. He can see the little dogs over the fence - a Jack Russel terrier, two dachshunds, a frail-looking chihuahua, and a mutt of some sort that Connor's scan suggests might be a corgi mix.
As for the big dogs... Connor's head is spinning. The park is a decent size, and there are about a dozen dogs with their owners running around, playing and sniffing and barking. Golden retrievers, a lab, a german shepherd, more than one interesting mix - an abundance of dogs. Many of them come to sniff at them, and Connor kneels down, ignoring the wet ground, so he can pet as many as he can. Hank lowers himself down next to him with a grunt, absently petting some of the curious dogs, but his attention is all on Connor.
"Hey," Hank says, leaning close. "You sure you're okay? You look kinda... poleaxed."
Connor looks at him, mouth parted as he tries to find the words.
"Hank, I... I love dogs," he says, something welling in his chest. He doesn't know what it is, his scans can't find anything physically out of place in him, but his chest feels tight, full of something that feels surprisingly nice.
Hank laughs. "Yeah, I know. That was about the first thing you told me, remember?"
A golden retriever butts its head against Connor's chest, tail wagging friendlily.
"Yes... but that wasn't really... Me," Connor tries to explain, making a vague gesture with his hand. "Now it is," he finishes weakly. Hank just gives him an odd look.
"I love dogs," Connor says again, and his voice cracks a little.
"Aw, Christ," Hank says, but his tone is gentle. He puts an arm around Connor's shoulders and tugs him against his side. He gives Connor a gentle squeeze, a gesture of comfort.
"I get it," Hank says softly, a smile in his voice. "Dogs are pretty great."
Connor sinks his hands into the silky soft fur of the golden, a smile pulling at his lips. "They really are."
Sumo lumbers over, paws caked in mud, and places himself possessively between Connor and the other dogs.

Bonding
AKA The one where Kim and Ron get stuck to Bonnie and Barkin respectively. Also, giant Dachshunds!!!
Barkin gives Ron extra homework, Bonnie apparently didn’t catch Kim like she was supposed to. Kim hit the gym floor hard. Ouch.
Bonnie and Kim have a walk and talk.
“What makes someone like that?” Kim asks. Sounds like the question to ask a psychologist!
On the way to a mission, Ron does homework. Near a lion. There’s a Circle of Life line.
Dementor. Bondo ball.
Ron falls on Kim.
“So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye.” Sound of Music ref. From Dementor.
The bondo ball is found in Ron’s pocket. Wade’s gonna analyze it. Ron drops it, it does the spray thing. And then Ron does a “up high” with Kim and then psychs her. NERDS. And also, WE WERE SO CLOSE TO THEM GETTING STUCK TOGETHER.
Ron’s stuck to Barkin, Kim’s stuck to Bonnie. Sucks to be you.
Barkin briefly almost helps Ron on his test. YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER.
Barkin plays rugby. Testicle injuries are the main thing I know about that sport.
RON’S MOM TUCKS BARKIN IN. WTF.
Bonnie’s still going out on a date with Brick even though she’s stuck to Kim. Um.
Brick wonders if he’s to kiss Kim goodnight too. Both women agree NO.
Dementor is somewhere in Central Europe. This is like the “Conveniently located in Europe” thing. BE MORE VAGUE. SWITZERLAND? Czech Republic? Austria? Germany?
Barkin is a Brigadier Pixie Den Mother. Pixie Scouts are basically Girl Scouts.
Dementor is in the Bavarian Alps! He’s in Germany!
I feel like the Barkin squirrel thing is a reference to Patrick Warburton’s other character, Kronk, from Emperor’s New Groove who also has a connection with squirrels.
Eek. Bonnie’s terrible sisters.
Bacon and chive muffins? WTF.
I like that on this rock face in the air, Bonnie’s hair is moving with the wind. Nice animation.
"The electromagnetic waves have totally cut me off. We’re close.” Love this.
Kim grabs Bonnie about the waist to stop her. Doesn’t work. Caught. They get out.
“Too late! My men have already unleashed the DACHSHUNDS!” “We’re supposed to be afraid of little wiener dogs?”
THEY’RE NOT LITTLE. Also I think the two shown are a smooth haired one and a longhaired or wirehaired.
He stole the thing to make cocoa. Bonnie wants a latte, soy decaf.
The thing that Dementor made looks like the thing his ancestor made in Rewriting History.
Barkin shields Ron and the Pixies from the thing he thinks is dangerous. It’s Wade, who’s concerned about Kim.
When the machine is activated it’ll vaporize Kim and Bonnie. Um. Yikes.
Barkin and Ron bring the Pixies along. Ron questions this.
“I knew this day would come. Just me and the mutant wiener dogs.” “You knew this day would come?”
Kim apologizes for getting Bonnie into this. She accepts it.
Kim was a Pixie once. Also, they untie her and Bonnie.
Dementor gets stuck to Dachshunds.
They’re unbonded now! Yay!

The Phillips family was shaken but ecstatic after their two-year-old dog that was stolen from their yard was returned to them after four stressful days. “It was an empty feeling not having him there,” Anthony Phillips said. “It was a scary experience. It was hard on my kids. It really sucked.”
The Phillips’ Dachshund, RJ, was taken from the family’s yard on July 5. A couple is accused of stealing the dog while delivering Amazon packages in the neighbourhood.
Mycah Keyona Wade, 22, of Crowley, now a former contract worker for Amazon, turned herself in July 16 and was charged with theft on July 17. Her boyfriend, Devanta Lynn Mooring, 23, has warrants out for his arrest but was not in custody at this time.
Phillips said the community, law enforcement and police helped get RJ back to his family on July 9. When the family discovered RJ had been stolen, they reached out to neighbours and the community through Facebook.
A landscaper working on a neighbour’s house said he saw a man pick up RJ, and the man asked him what house the dog belonged to. The landscaper pointed at the Phillips house, but the man and a woman drove off with the dog, Phillips said.
Another neighbour had a video of Mooring and Wade delivering packages, and the landscaper identified Mooring as the man he saw take RJ.
Phillips said the family had little hope of getting RJ back, especially after seeing a Craigslist post of someone selling RJ for US$100 (RM418). They watched as the price dropped to US$70 (RM293).
Phillips called the police, and investigator Ethan Stark took over the case. The men contacted Amazon, which identified Wade as one of their drivers two days later. From there, Stark tracked Wade down and set up a meeting with her.
She initially denied having the dog, but eventually brought RJ to a Lake Worth parking lot and gave him to Stark. Stark called Phillips and told him to open his email. “I checked my email and it was a picture of RJ in (Stark’s) arms and he was licking his face,” Phillips said.
“I can’t even describe the feelings when we got him back. It was an act of God the way everything transpired and that we were able to get him back.”
RJ was reunited with his family four days after being stolen by Amazon delivery drivers. Photo: TNS
Phillips said he has lived in the town for 28 years and never thought of it as a place where someone would steal his dog. He plans on pressing charges against Wade and Mooring. Phillips said while he is not angry at Amazon, he hopes the company will be more attentive to who they hire as delivery drivers.
“They’re giving their work to untrustworthy people, and they’re coming to our houses,” he said. “We’re letting strangers onto our properties and giving them access to our homes. I really hope they will up their standards.”
However, he added Amazon was extremely helpful in finding Wade and Mooring, and the company sent RJ a gift basket when he was returned. Amazon condemned the actions of the delivery drivers in a statement to the Weatherford Democrat newspaper.
“This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service partners. We’re glad the customer has been reunited with their pet, and we have been in touch with them to make it right,” the statement said. “We take these matters seriously and these individuals are no longer delivering Amazon packages.”
Phillips also has a message for anyone whose dog is stolen or goes missing.
“Don’t give up on your dog. We knew our chances of getting him back were not good, but we didn’t quit – that’s the only reason we got him back. If you love your dog, and your dog is family, don’t give up on your dog,” he said. – Tribune News Service/Fort Worth Star-Telegram/Kaley Johnson

Does Your Dog Need Swim Lessons?
New Post has been published on http://doggietrainingclasses.com/does-your-dog-need-swim-lessons/
Does Your Dog Need Swim Lessons?
In June, I took my cattle dog mix, Annie Oakley Tater Tot, to the Durango Off Leash Dog Park in Colorado, through which the Animas River runs. She had never shown much interest in water, and whenever she’d be near a lake or stream, stood just deep enough to get her paws wet.
But she followed a pack of dogs down to the river’s edge. It was running fast that day. What if she followed them in and got swept up by the current? Did she even know how to swim? If she slipped away, could I reach her?
As soon as I got back home, I did what a lot of my friends with young children do: I took her to a swim lesson.
This might sound like obsessive dog person overkill, but it’s a way to keep dogs safe if they are ever near water, said Dr. Jerry Klein, the chief veterinary officer of the American Kennel Club. He’s also been an emergency and critical care veterinarian for over 30 years and said the most common setting where dogs drown is in swimming pools, especially when the pool isn’t fenced in.
Dogs can drown in pools even if they know how to swim because pools may not have an easy way to get out, at least from a dog’s point of view. They can’t climb ladders, and if they can’t find the steps, they can panic and exhaust themselves.
Dogs, like people, can also get caught in fast streams, or in the ocean, particularly in riptides. There have also been concerns about dogs swimming in lakes or ponds with toxic algae blooms.
Not all dogs are going to be good at swimming either, Dr. Klein said. Dogs with short legs, like dachshunds, can have trouble paddling. Dogs with short snouts, known as brachycephalic breeds, like pugs and French bulldogs, may have a hard time breathing. Dogs with heavy coats, like komondors (which look like mops), can also be weighed down quickly in water, and stocky dogs like bulldogs can have trouble swimming because of the way their body weight is distributed.
Dr. Klein noted that there are exceptions, like Cherie, a French bulldog who won gold in both “medium dogs” and “best in the surf” at the World Dog Surfing Championships in August. He pointed out that all the surfing dogs he’s seen have been supervised and trained. “It wasn’t just letting them go in the water,” he said. And some dogs, even if they’re considered water dogs, like labs and retrievers, just might not be interested either. It depends on the dog, and how they’re introduced to the water.
Annie took her swim lesson with Opportunity Barks, a Philadelphia-area dog behavior and training school. I paid $48; the classes are available only during the summer months because they are held outdoors in an in-ground pool. Two trainers were present.
Hesitant dogs like Annie (and a Pomeranian named Alfred), started by being encouraged to stand on the top step on the pool’s underwater staircase, just getting their feet wet. If dogs made it onto the pool’s steps, they were then encouraged to swim to their owners, who were already in the water, or to follow treats or toys or Frisbees into the water. With a little nudge, Annie swam to me. I let her paddle on her own first, and then turned her around back toward the steps so she knew where to exit the water.
“You want to guide them in but also let them know that you can guide them out,” said Leigh Siegfried, the owner and training director at Opportunity Barks. I also plopped Annie on a raft and floated her around the pool, to get her more comfortable just being around water.
Dog can also learn to swim through bodies of water that slope gradually, like a lake or river. “Lakes are great because you can build interest,” said Ms. Siegfried. “They can wade or go ankle deep and freely exit.”
Dr. Klein also recommends kiddie pools to get dogs comfortable and interested in water if they’re too nervous to try that lake or stream.
Shannon Desjardins took her two French bulldogs, Edna and Stewie, to swim lessons at Avalon Ranch in Renfrew, Ontario, this summer.
Each dog was put into a life jacket and then placed into a pool. They swam toward the trainer, and then back to their owner, who was waiting for them on a dock.
“I wanted to make sure they could swim just in case they fell in the water,” she said. “Because of their squish faces and their actual build they don’t swim very well.” She also wanted them to get used to wearing the life jackets.
Each dog did well swimming, with Stewie being more encouraged to swim by chasing a ball thrown into the water, and Edna wanting to swim toward people. Ms. Desjardins took them back three weeks later for a follow-up. Stewie started going into the water himself, but Edna still wanted to be carried. “She kept coming back, to watch Stewie jump, so there is hope there too for a future water dog,” she said.
Six weeks after her lesson, Annie and I went back to Colorado, this time in Fraser. On a hot hike in the Arapaho National Forest, she stopped when our trail lined up with a shallow creek. She looked at the water, then back at me, then back at the water again. I walked down rocks toward the water and stood on the edge. She followed, then stepped around me into the water. She did it again the next time the path edged the creek. And then again. And again. When it was time to go, I had to bribe her with Cheez-Its to get her into the car, getting soaked myself in the process because she shook much of the creek off onto me. She just didn’t want to leave.
She didn’t swim — the creek wasn’t deep enough; but she wasn’t tentative about going in the water anymore. I wouldn’t be as worried about her if she followed a pack of dogs into deeper water. I would still put a life jacket on her if were ever to take her out on a kayak, but I wouldn’t worry so much about her going in. I just need to remember a towel next time.

Kim Kardashian-West recently channeled Jackie Kennedy-Onassis during a photo shoot with her and Kanye West’s daughter North West. Pictures of the mother-daughter shoot were released recently by Interview magazine. They show the reality TV star wearing pearls in pure royal fashion. North even donned a pair of pearl earrings too!
Would Jackie Kennedy Be Please with Kim Kardashian?
This was the first joint interview ever, featuring Kim and North. It’s set to premiere in the next edition of Interview magazine. In the series of photos, 36-year-old Kim is captured all dolled up, just like the late Jackie Kennedy, our former First Lady.
In one image, Mrs. West is wearing a conservative cream dress and elegant-looking, elbow-length gloves. She’s even sporting Jackie O’s famous bob-style hairdo, as 4-year-old North stands behind her. The toddler looks adorable in a black dress with two pretty buns in her hair.
Here, Kim Kardashian is dressed really conservative as she mimics the style of Former First Lady Jackie O.
This photo’s caption touches the heart and soul of the second-born Kardashian sister:
“You can say a lot of things about me, but you cannot say I don’t work hard. I don’t sing. I don’t dance. I don’t act. But I am not lazy.” @kimkardashian talks to @janetmock for her September cover story. @stevenkleinstudio
Another picture features Kim wearing the iconic shades Jackie is so known for sporting. The caption the magazine created for this image reads:
“She’s underestimated, misunderstood, and undeniably fascinating. We’re sure you’ve heard the name @kimkardashian before. @stevenkleinstudio.”
Must See: Kim K & North West Wearing Pearls
Personally, my favorite is the image of Kim sitting on what looks to be a hotel hallway floor while North West stands next to her. Unlike the scantily dressed celebrity we’re used to seeing, Kim looks very elegant and classy in this picture, with her triple-strand pearl necklace and big pearl earrings.
Kim Kardashian wearing a triple-strand pearl necklace and pearl earrings, with North West wearing big pearl earrings too.
And, I can’t get over how quickly little North West is growing up. She looks the part of a royal First Daughter in her black dress, black patent leather shoes, white lace bobby socks and huge pearl earrings, almost as big as mom’s.
Kim & West Photos Get Mixed Reviews
Although some have found the photos to be classy, others have slammed the Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality star for copying the late-great Jackie Kennedy-Onassis. They found the images to be in bad taste, saying she has no right to channel the Former First Lady.
She received some serious backlash for her First Lady impersonations. One person wrote:
“She will never be a Jackie …. I’m over her fake ass lol .. over rated … let’s focus on what’s happening in the real world now .. tell her to go and help those who are in need now ( TEXAS )”
While another disgruntled social media user chimed in with:
“No we are not elevating Kim kardashian to the elegant and classic Jackie O. Both are iconic but in completely separate ways. This is shameful to Jackie’s legacy.”
Gabrielle Union Enjoys Fashion Week with Her NBA Star Husband
#TheWadeWorldTour is one fashion hashtag that’s not going away anytime soon. It was created for and by famous actress Gabrielle Union-Wade and her husband, Chicago Bulls player Dwyane Wade.
Union stepped out to enjoy a night out on the town. She arrived at the rainy event wearing a black Prabal Gurung two-piece. What was so amazing about it? Well, it was embellished with boatloads of little bitty pearls.
The Being Mary Jane star brightens up when she speaks of the numerous pretty white pearls she calls “little balls”:
“There’s no politically correct way of saying that I love these little white balls on my body. Actually, I think these are the most comfortable little white balls out there, though I don’t have much to compare them to.”
Gabrielle Union’s looks are always lit, no matter the occasion. This is thanks to the hard work and dedication of celebrity fashion stylist Thomas Christos. And, this look is amazing. Nothing jazzes up a simple black pants suit like a million tiny pearls!

Dwyane Wade Also Takes Fashion Seriously
During a recent interview, the She’s All That star spoke about her trip with her husband to Paris Fashion Week. She told reporters that the NBA star created quite a stir when he stepped on the scene sporting a Thom Browne dachshund bag.
Although it was designed to model Hector Browne, the fashion designer’s Instagram-famous pooch, in the end, it’s still a purse. Gabrielle reflected on that day and noted:
“We had a battle for who would get the dog bag; he wouldn’t give it up.
I thought, because it was a purse, it was for me, and he was like, ‘No, why would you think that?’ He was very serious about the dog bag.”
We love how @dwyanewade X @gabunion are serving couple goals pictures on their summer holiday #thewadeworldtour love #summer2017 #fashion #couple #travels #style #baewatch #gabrielleunion #dwaynewade

Gabrielle Speaks on Being “Reasonably Woke”
Just like her character on Being Mary Jane, Union gets very charged when it comes to serious issues. She talked about the upcoming New York Fashion Week, and how it’s expected to be a politically charged event:
“If you consider yourself a decent human being that is reasonably woke, it’s our duty to our fellow man to give a shit. And if you can give a shit through fashion, awesome; if you can use social media to not only live-tweet Being Mary Jane but to support our Dreamers, awesome,” she said. “Especially in fashion, if you’re selling things, it’s important to let your consumer know that you give a shit.”
Tracee Ellis Ross, Girlfriends star, and daughter of famous singer Diana Ross, completely agrees, saying:
“I think everyone has a responsibility to stand up — fashion, Hollywood, everybody. This is not a time to be asleep.”
