Gorillas 🦍 are usually thought to be the scariest yet the gentlest, King Kong looking giant in the animal kingdom. With merely about 1 thousand individuals remaining, the Gorilla Berengei Berengei aka mountain gorilla which can only be found in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo are the only critically endangered species of the wild ape family whose population is growing. These subspecies of the eastern gorillas can only be tracked here in Rwanda. There are currently about 10 families in Volcanoes National Park. After a pleasant hike into the mountain we are honored to spend a full hour with the Titus family - the first group that was habituated in the days of Dian Fossey consequently having a meaningful history.
