Short Prompt #42
“Supervillain.” Villain’s smooth voice floated like music across the kitchen, dancing past the dirty cutting board and the large pot of soup before settling gracefully in Supervillain’s ear. “Why is there a hero sleeping on our couch?”
Supervillain looked up from the stove with big, pleading eyes that didn’t at all match their gruff exterior. “It was raining, and they were cold.”
“They’re a hero.”
“But they’re just little. And the agency kicked them out of the boarding house because of all the recent city damages, but they don’t have anywhere else to go because they have no family, and now they need a day job along with the hero job so that they can start raising money for their own place, but no one will hire them because you have to be at least 16, and their birthday isn’t until—“
Villain plucked the wooden spoon out of their hands and pressed the rounded end to their spouse’s lips. “And how do you know this?”
Supervillain settled their hands on top of Villain’s tipping the spoon slightly sideways to speak. “We talked, and—“
“Supervillain!”
“What?”
“Don’t be so soft! This kid is manipulating you. What proof do we have that any part of this sob story is real and not a trap to get into our home and slaughter us in our bed.”
Supervillain cupped Villain’s face firmly, half-protective, half-apology. “Heroes have hurt you...”
“That is an understatement.”
“…but I’ll never let anything like that happen to you again. I would never let anything or anyone near you unless I was absolutely sure they were safe. This hero is not like those other ones, I promise.” They stared into Villain’s eyes for several seconds, until the diamond hard gaze began softening into limestone. Then they abruptly turned back to the soup and coughed, “Plus, I already called their social worker and confirmed they’re an orphan.”
Villain whacked Supervillain in the arm with the spoon as hard as they could. “We’re not adopting them.”
“Can we at least discuss it?”
Yaaaahs, why didn’t I think of this family dynamic earlier?

"Hey, Villain. Why do you hang out with me?" Hero asked.
Villain looked at Hero and stretched their back. "I could ask you the same thing. What? Do you not like hanging out with me?" Villain laughed.
"No!" Hero quickly said, sitting up. "It's just, your parents are Supervillains, mine are Superheroes. We literally just fought, not even an hour ago, and now we're lying on a roof together."
"Yeah, so what? Why should we have to hate each other just because society tells us to? We can still be friends and do what makes our parents happy," Villain stated, still lying down.
The both of them sat together in silence. Wind blew in their hair and slightly lifted Hero's cape.
"What if..." Hero trailed, "our parents do find out we're friends."
Villain was silent for a moment. Their face was blank, and then a grind formed on their face.
"Then they ain't gonna be so happy."

I like Draxum but he never truly struck me as a full faun yokai. He always had a lion look to his face and hands. So I like to think he’s part chimaera and has two other siblings that make up the missing heads.

Dec. 30, prompt: snowed in
I had no idea what snowed in means other than the wiki leaks snowden so I’m sorry, I tried
But also Whump my beloved
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“I’m done,” said vigilante, dropping their dagger dipped in hero’s blood on villain’s table with a clatter. Villain sat back in their chair, regarding Vigilante with raised eyebrows.
“You’re done?” Villain asked, voice as cool as the wind that cuts your cheek on a cold winter’s day.
Vigilante kept villain’s stare as they repeated, “I’m done. I’ve paid off my debt to you in full. I’ve hurt for you. Stole for you. Hurt people who trusted me. I’m done doing your dirty work while you operate behind the scenes.”
Villain’s lips quipped into a little smile. “Take a seat, Vigilante. Let’s chat.”
“No,” said Vigilante. “I said what I have to say. I’m done. Goodbye villain.”
Vigilante turned to go, but the once open door slammed shut in their face. Lock clicking for emphasis. Vigilante sighed.
“I said—“ villain said, voice void of all emotion as an invisible force wrapped around vigilante’s arms tighter than chains and put them sitting in the chair opposite villain. “Sit.”
Vigilante didn’t even struggle in the seat, knowing there’d be no point in it and end up tiring themselves out. Plus villain was a sadistic kind of shit who would just get off of their struggle so they saved their energy and cocked a brow at villain.
“I say when you’re done, dear Vigilante,” villain said softly, walking around the desk and perching on the edge closer to vigilante. “Don’t you remember what I did for you?”
Vigilante remained silent. Just staring straight ahead where villain was sitting not two minutes ago.
Villain’s hand shot out, grabbing vigilante’s jaw with one hand and squeezing their fingers in painfully, tilting vigilante’s face up to look at villain in the eye.
“Have you forgotten?”
“No,” vigilante said through gritted teeth.
“And yet you presume to have repaid your debt in full?” Villain asked and Vigilante’s eyes lowered. “Look at me Vigilante,” the villain said voice softer as they let go of vigilante’s face.
“I have raised you from childhood into what you are today. You can’t walk away from family, child. What— is this to do with that hero you’ve been seeing?”
Vigilante’s eyes widened then tried to bleed back to neutrality but it was too late. Villain saw the surprise.
“It is about that hero, isn’t it? Putting ideas in your head about right and wrong. Telling you lies about me, I bet. What’s so wrong with trying to survive, vigilante? Tell me that.”
“Nothing,” said Vigilante, voice quiet and small. Like they were a child being scolded again. “But it doesn’t matter. All you do is lie, you’re doing it now! You know we do more than we have to to survive! Stop spinning it like you’re the victim when I know you’re not!”
Villain said nothing for a moment. Then they stood and looked out the window into the blizzard. The snow storm raging outside. Vigilante followed them with their eyes, weary after their last outburst. They didn’t care. They needed to say it. Needed to stand up to villain.
“I’ve let you go too long,” said villain finally. “You forget what’s important. I let you spread your wings and the minute you do you turn your back on your family-“
Vigilante struggled in the invisible chains then, pushing against them. “Hero’s expecting me. They know where I am. If I don’t meet them they—“
“During the biggest snowstorm in the history of the city?” The villain asked as snow started hitting the house harder, and more frequently until the window was blocked out by snow, casting the villain’s office in shadow.
Villain turned to vigilante then, smiling showing their teeth.
“You won’t be going anywhere after we’re snowed in either, vigilante. Not even your precious hero could save you from the weather.”

“..Yeah..”
“Wait, Hero?! You’re this- guys son?!”
“..Is.. Is that a problem?”
“No, but..” “But what?” “Well, your dad is, well your dad is a bit of a villain..?”
“..Didn’t you promise that if a hero had a villainous family, you wouldn’t immediately kick them out?” “Yeah but..”
“You better not! And I swear if you kick out my son, just because he’s related to me, I’ll do something horrible!” “..Thanks dad..?”

Villain family
Just a prompt at the top of my head.
Imagine a rowdy Villain family with an unhinged and chaotic sibling duo while their parents are retired and just proud to see their kids pass off so much chaos.
That would be fun

Short Prompt #43
“If you’re going teach your kid to pickpocket, maybe tell them to skip the guys with badges,” the hero said, tapping the sun emblem pinned to their uniform. With their other hand, they gripped a handful of the whimpering child’s hair.
“Take your hands off them before I smash you into hero paste!” Villain shouted, barely holding themself back from lunging across the gap and tackling the dogooder to the pavement. Hero could probably flick out that blade on their hip faster than Villain could cross the street.
They felt the tension at their back as Supervillain paced back and forth behind them, lip curled, steps deliberate, like a snarling animal in a cage.
Hero raised their brow. “No need for violence. I’m sure we can talk this out to benefit all of us. The kid might even make a good sidekick.”
“Give our baby back!” Supervillain roared suddenly, lurching into an aggressive step forward that made Hero touch the handle of their knife.
“Your baby?” Hero sneered, curling their fingers tighter around Child’s messy locks. Tears dripped off Child’s lashes and streamed down their cheeks, but they did a remarkably good job keeping the the brunt of their panic within. “Don’t play the innocents. Your baby is a villain. And whose fault do you think that is?”

Character A's mother looks down at them. "I knew I was too soft on you. Playing hero with some other kid? What were you thinking A?" A's mother scolds.
A's friend, their partner to fight crime, is tied up and guarded by A's siblings.
"Mom, let my friend go. They have nothing to do with this," A says, standing their ground.
"Nothing to do with this?!" A's mother growls. "We are a family of villains! You can't communicate with heroes!"
"Mom, listen—"
"No, A. You gotta pick. Your family, or wannabe hero," A's mom interrupts.
Everyone A knows— friends, family, mentors, classmates, other villains— watches them. A glances at their hero friend, bruised and shaking slightly.
"You're really gonna make me choose?" A questions, to not only their mom but everyone.
A is met with silence.
"Fine," A looks at their friend, determination in their eyes. "Someone's gotta be the family disappointment."
