Indulge me for a moment, wont you?

Imagine Viktor had invited you to one of the celebrations for Hextech and progress in general, promising it would be fun. That there would be plenty of drinks to choose from and more appetizers than thought appropriate. His honeyed voice promising he'd stay by your side the entire night was the final knockout that had you agreeing.
For the most part, Viktor stayed true to his word. His presence a welcome one as he handed you your favorite drink, his formal-casual suit fitting him just right as you accepted the glass. But Jayce had other plans, and it began with "Potential Investors." And just like that, Viktor was pulled away from you to talk business.
You expected that much. You knew you couldn't keep Viktor to yourself all night, no matter how you selfishly wanted to. But he was an inventor, a genius, who was trying to make his tech available for everyone - he just needed the money to do it.
Things went well despite missing his comforting and handsome presence. A few friends of Sky's pulled you to the side, sharing their surprise that you were here and how did you manage to get Viktor to join? You insisted it was Viktor who brought you along and you were just his companion for the night.
"Shouldn't a companion keep you company?" A voice besides you said with a frown. The dirty blonde man held your gaze as you assured him that you were fine being alone, that Viktor had much more pressing matters than to watch over you for the night. That only seemed to deepen the boy's scowl.
He argued it would be an honor to stand besides you all night, that Viktor was foolish for having a priority above you. That's when the feeling started to rise. You paid no mind to it at first, guessing your anxiety was acting out because you were in a crowded ball room and some man was trying to convince you Viktor was being manipulative. You didn't believe the guy, not one bit. He was obviously just trying to get you to go with him instead.
But that feeling, what started as a little pinch on your side, grew into a roaring flame when the dude brought you a drink, your favorite one, a slung an arm around your waist. You quickly backed away, telling him that you didn't feel comfortable with his display of what he said was simply "friendship," and walked away. Or at least you planned to when a set of amber eyes held you in place.
Viktor's gaze was on you, calculating every move with that brilliant mind of his. But his gaze was different, darker somehow as they lingered on where the man had laid his hand moments ago. His jaw was locked as those golden eyes scaled back up to your face, eyebrows furrowing slightly. Before you could read into it, he looked back at the short man in front of him and Jayce, bringing his drink to his lips. His knuckles were paler than normal as he gripped onto his cane, leaning into it as he tried to focus on what the investor was saying.
But he could only think about you. About how this night was supposed to get to know you outside the lab. How he was going to make you feel safe despite the hoard of people, because that's what you did to him. Viktor wanted to tell you he wanted to be more than lab partners - more than friends. He wanted to walk right over to the blonde who dared touch you and knock him senseless with his cane. But he didn't. Because despite his calculating mind, he couldn't figure out if you liked him back or were you just being nice? Because how horrible would it look for a Zaunite to beat a Piltie stupid for trifling with something that was his? That he wanted to be his.
So he stayed quiet. Unreadable to the best of his ability. But his gaze had seered a hole right through you. You knew, at that point, something was off. Maybe you had made Viktor mad somehow. So you left.
Those honeyed eyes and that honeyed voice haunted your nights for weeks.
