Draco’s back at Hogwarts by court order. Harry’s back for no particular reason at all. Some things change, some stay the same. Neither expects to spend eighth-year living in close quarters, playing rugby (poorly), staying up late, sneaking around, and finally figuring it all out.
This story absolutely knocked me off my feet. The layers of characterization are so rich; Draco is very funny but also humble and guilty and sad; Harry is very horny for Draco and it develops in a completely organic way from his initial animosity; Hermione and Ron are also excellent in the background. The pacing was one of my favorite details, from the way their relationship evolves in person to the shift of the narrative to epistolary and back. This is such a lovely exploration of growing up, an enchanting read if you want something beautiful, that’s sweet and comforting with a healthy dose of wry humor.

There is something wrong with the Bellcrest. The heart of the place beats rotten. Everyone says so.
Where Draco is a magical property manager, Harry is a recluse, and they’re definitely not hiding from their problems in the run-down flats of the Bellcrest. Not at all. Not one bit.
One of my favorite things that fic can do is turn over the rocks of Harry Potter canon to reveal what lurks underneath. This story looks at the places left out of the light of the wizarding world, but asks the question: what if we treated the downtrodden and discriminated-against with empathy? What if instead of pushing them further down, we attempted to uplift them? It does this through the viewpoint of Draco, who is not fully reformed when we first meet him. His journey is the inverse of the mistreated beings of magical ability we encounter in this story: fallen from the highest echelons of a prejudiced world, he needs to find a way to see those with whom he now shares social status as people, and in doing so find a way to consider one more “dark” creature worthy of love and kindness – himself. And I haven’t even gotten to Harry, who has his own journey to undergo that’s deftly imagined through both character work and inventive magical systems. This fic is full of empathy and heart and humor; it’s sexy, it’s painful at times (I cried), but it’s so very worth the journey.

It’s the Dumbledore’s Army Reunion Holiday, and Harry’s found himself in hot water with his friends once again, after telling them he has a boyfriend he definitely does not have. In an attempt to fix things, he’s made it his colleague on Level Nine, Draco Malfoy’s problem too. Featuring a ski chalet in Switzerland, a pair of bunk beds, and an agreement that should’ve been simple, were it not for all the bloody feelings getting in the way.
This fic is such a damn delight. Harry and Draco are both amazingly rendered, the plot grabs you and does not let go, and there’s an impressive amount of emotional complexity hiding under the classic rom-com setups of fake dating and miscommunications. Oh and it doesn't hurt that the smut is top-tier, all-time favorite status; my brain pretty much short-circuited at the final scene. The setting is so well-depicted that you will feel the crisp air of the ski chalet in your lungs as you read. The banter is out-of-this-world. Pick up this fic for the perfect steamy, romantic, comfort-read (and because you simply must meet the hideously adorable Professor Monday).

Potter was supposed to have lived. Draco is certain of this. That Potter would no longer walk the earth was tantamount to the sun moving west to east across the sky. If only he could have stopped this from happening, if he’d have known...
It comes to him as ideas often did: too late.
Or, Harry dreams of his past lives, and Draco is in every one.
The prose in this fic is just *sumptuous.* We travel to many different worlds with Harry and Draco, and each is given detailed description courtesy of some of the most gorgeous sentences I’ve read in ages. This will put your heart through the wringer and, if you are like me, you will say "thank you, more please?" This fic made me think about physics and love and magic and how they relate to each other in ways I never knew I could, it was an intellectual and emotional delicacy.
Draco Malfoy's Foolproof Guide to Reconciliation by @aprofessionalprotagonistonist (T, 5,807)
Narcissa Malfoy’s determined to reconcile with her sister, which means Draco’s stuck spending time with Teddy Lupin — and Harry Potter.
I had to include this fic that does a wonderful job imagining the Malfoy/Black family dynamic, with Teddy being an adorable menace who helps to bring Draco and Harry together. It was such a sweet read over the holidays when I, too, was surrounded by tiny terrors. This story will make your heart grow at least three sizes.

I’ve finished playing Baten Kaitos HD and I have thoughts. So here's a spoiler free review for Eternal Wings (I haven’t played Origins yet)
Pros
The game has been optimised and looks great on a big screen. The static art backgrounds still look great.
The 3D models have all been sharpened up and re rendered. The battle scenes are massively improved with lightning and textures now, while the character and enemy models are all crisp and look more like the artwork.
The UI looks way better, it's been given a more professional look, with more space in widescreen for things on the screen it doesn’t look as cramped as it used to, so you can see more of the battle.
There are a number of quality of life improvements that were never in the original, that not only make it easier for players, but make things like grinding for EXP extremely easy.
When you beat the game, you can make a New Game +, where you keep all the collected items of the file you just beat, or a New Game -, where you keep everything but remain at the lowest level throughout.
Cons
While the 3D models have been greatly improved, this means the faces of the models and some textures are jarring. The faces are very flat and emotionless, and when shown next to the portrait art (that accompanies any main character speech box) you can see all the effort was put into the costume design.
The in battle effects have not been improved. Most of them look pretty good, but the high level water spells look bad and a number of the finisher attacks don’t line up or land properly.
The game has been censored to remove any kind of reference to alcohol. Despite there being obvious bars and in a few towns, any item that was previously “wine” or “beer” has been renamed to something kid friendly like “juice” or “wheat tea” (but the image is still a pint of beer). This is annoying if you are using a guide for the original GC version as the items will be listed with their original names.
The menu system is a bit more confusing. It took me a while to remember how to do equip an item because it is not made very clear how to do so.
The biggest gripe a lot of people had with the original game was the appalling voice acting. It was bad. But instead of improving the acting it has just been removed and only the Japanese is available. You can mute the voice effects, but I found it left the game lacking anything. The characters all speak during battle, not just grunts but full lines of taunts and polite conversation with their allies. This would be ok IF there were subtitles, but aside from for one specific type of in battle dialogue, there is nothing.
Overall
There's a lot more cons listed than pros, but most of them are where something could have been improved but wasn’t. The game is 20 years old and no matter how much you remaster it, it shows. There's only one cinematic, and that's the opening one before the game, so all major scenes all use the character models. There's limited movement in them, so they'll all stand around looking awkward as things happen (don’t get me started on the jumping animation for kids).
All this aside, the game is a great early 00s JRPG. It has a unique combat mechanic that's easy to get used to and lets you master it at your own speed over the course of the game. There is still SO MUCH to find. 100%ing the game in one game file is EXTREMELY difficult, but the New Game + makes this significant easier for completionists. The story is great, with (despite their obvious flaws) interesting characters. And then there's the music, which is without a doubt some of the best I’ve heard.

Dragon March dev update - Feb. 3. 2024
Finally getting around to making the actual levels with most of the important systems now in place. Here's the first level
In theory, this level should introduce players to the main game mechanics such as steering Cereal in safe and difficult locations, collecting dragons, avoiding your own line, reaching the level goal, and seeing Cereal behind walls.
Finally getting audio implemented too. For the first time ever, I got a composer; The very awesome Razerek. Funny enough, their art and music inspired me to start working on Dragon March so its a sort of full circle heh. That song in the video is an original composition for Dragon March (WIP of course).
Other things I did include a code that automatically generates and extends walls downwards so I don't have to do it manually
A visual for the height level that kills Cereal. Fun fact, these are excerpts from the actual code that kills Cereal. The binary lines are just random words like "Ow", "Die" or "Danger"
I was very proud of the wall see-through code. Looks neat I think.
Not shown in the video but also made Keys and Locked Doors
Anyone remembers Minesweeper?
You got mail. These work like trampolines and launch Cereal far away to a set destination. They don't work exactly how I want them to but I'll get them down at some point.
Made a couple of HD renders for these letters.
I might be able to finish the first world of the game; Latency Lobby, this month. I'm getting surgery next week so hope all goes well for me. If I manage to finish the first world, I might get back to doing a bit of commissions again. I need money.

Engineered Angst Full poster: 5/10. what's going on here?? Is the person in front going to an eye doctor with funky walls? And why does she kinds look like a Urbz DS render? So many question, no answers
Engineered Angst Red: 6/10. Better than the previous one imo, I like the sims' facial expression a lot! And this is a me problem, but it kind of reminds me of the promo clips of the virtual boy?? Y'know that nintendo console that only used red and black as its colors? Still pretty cool though!
Searing Indifference: 7/10 Angsty teen poster number 3. Honestly? Iconic, this is one of those posters that I still remember from playing the game when I was younger. I've always thought it was a band poster though. Nonetheless, it's a very cheesy poster but I just can't rate this any lower
"Civic Idol" by Adora Wall Arts: 7/10 AMAZING POSTER!! I'd say it's the best "emo/edgy" poster in the game. I'd only like to know what the hell that humanoid thing is. Also, the red thing looks wonky and apparently the white stripes are meant to say "Civic Idol". But the skyline and the moon look so great and the red stripe makes it look like dangerous and egdy. Kudos for the amazing composition of this one
Pets poster: 5/10. Cursed. For some reason, this poster looks much more jankier and pixelated than the others, even the basegame ones. Kinda simple, but it sorta does the job (Fun fact: this is one of the few posters that have variants! Which redeems it)
Revolutionary Rebellion poster: 8/10. Really cool! I love the hard red with the black and white and is much less crispier than some other posters. In the build&buy description it says that we should check out the Sim with the moustache but honestly, I have no idea what that's about. At least it looks pretty nice! Kent, Nervous and Moustache Mercutio is my fave rockband
"It's Reggae, Mon" Poster: 9/10. Really pretty!! I love the posing of this guy and with the sun flare and background it's one of the most beautiful posters available! Also, seeing the previous music posters' description, I thought the devs would've made fun of the genre since they also did that with the teenage angst posters. But I think it's actually really nice and cool what they wrote about reggae music so I've included it for you to read
"Fists of Bunny" poster: 8/10. I think this might be an anime reference or something? Or is this what the Social Bunny does when he's not with a sim? Just anime kicking in the Void? I don't get the reference, but it does look cool! Would I hang this up in my actual room? Probably yeah! And I like that it's the Social Bunny, we don't see the guy that often in the Build&Buy
Inverted Vertigo, Cover art: 5/10. What the hell is going on here??? Hands??? light strokes? Some people? A face??? This reminds when I discovered blending layers in a drawing program for the first time honestly.
All the alien posters: 8/10 Tumblr limits me to only upload 10 images, so these guys are getting grouped. Hell yeah! Alien posters! These look cool as hell, HD quality next to the pets poster. I don't know how to feel about the way too human alien head on the left though, it kinda freaks me out, because for the sims 2 this is far too realistic. And apparently the guy on the surfboard is PT#9 cousin, RT#66 surfing through the galaxy, good for him! These posters are rad as hell in my opinion, especially after some rather small and pixelated ones.
That's gonna be it for the poster review! There's an image limit of 10 and because I have the Super Collection I don't have all the posters, so there isn't gonna be a part 2 from me. If anyone else feels like completing this list with all the posters form the Ultimate Collection or make their own review with the posters, feel free to do so!

I think the Thumpers' feeling of otherness probably has something to do with how the entire art team can throw in their two cents when developing stuff now. Like, think about it. One of the main complaints during the early PB years, before and during the Kickstarter, was that it didn't feel cohesive because different artists were doing different things without seemingly much art direction leading towards cohesion (instance I remember people saying the lineart and genes clashed, and we just saw some fauna get reworked). This makes me assume that breed designs were done mostly independently from the rest of the team, and you can really see it in the pre-Thumper mystics (with the exception of the Fyret as the KS designed breed, but it still slots in pretty well with the rest, or at least it didn't draw significant complaints like the Thumpers did).
Now something that was drilled into our heads from day one was that all of the 20 breeds were already conceptualized. Though I don't think we ever got full clarification on what exactly that meant, since there's a pretty significant difference between having rough concepts already drawn out just needing refinement and having the base idea of "cat breed/cat-animal hybrid" written down. Prowlers (and Thumpers) were added to the roster after the Kickstarter ended, so they would've been conceptualized at the earliest before it ended, and the design process would've probably occurred at the start of 2023 after the budgeting was figured out. Around this time they announced all of their assets were going to be overhauled to have a more cohesive style, and it's also around this time that the devs and art team started talking a bit more about how everyone gives each other feedback to make things look more unified. This leads me to believe that whoever was behind designing the breeds now had to contend with more eyes on their work giving feedback, and needing to make more adjustments than before the Kickstarter (where I'm assuming the only feedback would be from the devs and the cat breed artist (which don't forget also had a pretty big change with two devs stepping down)). Now before anyone puts words in my mouth I am NOT saying it's a bad thing. It's just that (an assumed) different environment lead to different results, and we can very plainly see it with the Thumpers.
What does this mean for the future? I don't know. It really depends on how much of the original roster was already developed. The Thumper could be an indicator of how future mystics will be designed if the originals still haven't been actually drawn out, or they could end up sticking out like a sore thumb if they've already been drawn and are just going to be rendered without major adjustments. Ideally, I would want Thumpers to be redone to either better fit alongside the mystics we've already seen OR have a more... Transitional look? If that makes sense?
For a really extreme and weird example, look at the difference between the classic traditional and modern HD Simpsons. They look really different, but this didn't happen overnight. The change happened over the course of years and, if I'm remembering correctly was done semi-intentionally to ensure the look of the show wouldn't be completely different all of a sudden. If the mystic design philosophy has changed this much, then they should've eased us into it instead of dropping a whole rabbit on our laps.
