Fabric types and summer heat
The world is seeing record temperatures again. A lot of people find little comfort in their summer wardrobe these days, so it's important to be aware of how fabric types can influence your well-being in hot weather.
The following list of fabrics is by no means exhaustive, but it covers the basics.
Some of the fabrics mentioned below are expensive when bought new. You'll often find them for cheap in second-hand shops and on thrifting platforms though. I'm literally wearing a €5 linen underskirt, a €1 silk top, and a €7 silk summer dress right now, just to give an example.
General notes:
If you don't know where to start, try to stick to light-weight fabrics made of natural fibres. Look for light colours and open weaves.
You might be tempted to cover as little skin as possible in order to keep cool, but this leaves your skin vulnerable to sunburn. A thin layer of linen will often be more efficient at keeping you cool than leaving your skin bare.
Don't forget to wear sunscreen! Even if your skin type doesn't burn easily, it will still lower your chances of skin cancer. Look into sunscreens for children if you have sensory issues: they tend to be more sensory-friendly.

Polyester (to avoid):
Are your summer clothes making you ridiculously sweaty? Check the tag: you're probably wearing polyester.
Polyester is a synthetic fabric derived from petroleum: it's basically a plastic. It's strong, cheap, and stain resistant, which makes it a popular fabric. Even though a lot of summer clothes are made out of polyester, it's one of the worst fabrics to wear in summer.
Polyester is neither absorbent nor breathable, and captures heat. It traps sweat between your skin and your clothes, and it won't let you cool down. This leaves you feeling sticky and overheated. It can also cause static cling, which can be uncomfortable.
Not all synthetic fabrics are bad in summer: a lot of UV-blocking clothes are made of synthetics for example and can be a real life saver if you're sensitive to the sun. Try to avoid polyester if you can, though.

Cotton:
Cotton is a natural fibre that makes for a soft, durable, and breathable fabric. It allows air to circulate around your body which helps to keep you cool and get rid of sweat. It's a good basic choice.
Cotton has one downside: it's very absorbent, but takes a while to dry. If the weather's making you sweat excessively, the sweat can pool into the fabric of your cotton clothes. This will make them wet, resulting in visible sweat stains that can feel uncomfortable and will take a long time to dry.
If you can't stand how cotton feels, check out chambray weaves or bamboo textiles. They have similar properties to plain-weave cotton, but tend to be more sensory-friendly.

Linen:
Linen is the absolute king of hot weather fabrics. It's strong, absorbent, dries quickly, and is very breathable. It cools you down, but won't make you feel sticky because any sweat it absorbs will evaporate fast.
I frequently layer multiple thin loose-fitting linen garments when it's hot. Loose layers allow for air to circulate between your clothes while protecting your skin from the sun. It almost functions as a wearable air-conditioner.
Note that linen is prone to wrinkling. If this bothers you, know that linen requires extra effort during laundry to avoid this.

Silk:
Silk is yet another natural fibre that makes for a strong, quick-drying, and pretty breathable fabric. It's soft and cool to the touch, which makes it a great sensory choice.
Silk is not as breathable as cotton or linen, but dries very quickly. This means it might make you sweat more than cotton or linen does, but once the fabric's moist it will dry faster.
Note that sweat stains on silk tend to be pretty visible. Silk's also prone to static cling.

how do you manage your style when its really hot outside?
this is such a fun question!! i don't do well with heat at all, so i have a bunch of suggestions for wearing lolita when it's hot and humid.. some of which may be a bit obvious, but hopefully they'll be of some help for you!
i'll include my full answer under this "read more" cut because i think it'll get a bit lengthy.
choosing your outfit
as for your clothes, avoid fabrics and materials like polyester and velveteen when the weather is hot. polyester tends to trap heat underneath it, and velveteen is far too thick and heavy. it's better to opt for breathable cotton and thinner materials like chiffon. i especially recommend cotton bloomers.
short sleeve blouses, cutsews, tank tops, or short sleeve OP are better for keeping cool. many people are against the "blouseless/showing shoulders" rule, but it's more of a guideline.. if you're not throwing every guideline out the window at once, it still reads as lolita.. especially when the weather is extreme and permits it! a JSK without a blouse could definitely work and look great when coorded mindfully. i personally find that JSK with detailed straps and a babydoll cut look the best if you intend on going blouseless.
a more layered petticoat is a lot hotter and stuffier in the heat, a more casual poof will keep you cooler.. though a hoopskirt will be best for avoiding contact with your skin (not a fan of these personally, but they do work!)
ankle socks and UTK will be a lot more manageable than OTK. you could even ditch socks altogether if you have a good pair of sandals that suit your coord!
if you have thick or long hair, it'll always be better to style it by putting it up instead of leaving it down. you should plan this accordingly for the type of style you're going for. for example, twin tails tend to be cute for sweet and sometimes old school substyles, while updo hairstyles would suit classic more.
planning your day
i recommend planning your day around a place indoors that will have AC, and also finding transportation with it.
absolutely limit your walking! walking a few blocks is fine, but if you're doing more than a minimal amount of walking you should definitely be taking breaks in between.
before leaving the house
sunscreen!! protect your skin from the sun, don't forget your hands, face and neck.
absolutely don't skip deodorant if you're someone who sweats!!
if you have hair that doesn't do well in the humidity, use anti frizz products. if your hair gets messy, falls apart, and doesn't hold a style.. use a hair styling stick!! i can't recommend this enough for those who have bangs. doesn't have to be these products exactly, these are just what i use.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i apply one pump of olaplex on the ends of my hair (like the bottom 7 inches of it or so) while it's wet and gently massage it in. i spray the IGK good behavior spray all over very generously, but especially around my bangs and the roots of my hair. once my hair is dry and styled, i spray a bit of hair spray and lightly brush through. to completely set it, i apply this &honey matomake stick to my bangs (brush through like it's mascara) you can use a lot, it doesn't make them oily at all.. totally makes them stay in place for a long time. if you have very unruly bangs, i suggest using it on the underside of your bangs as well.
if you wear makeup, be sure that you're prepping your skin properly beforehand with skincare suited to your skin type and a good summer proof primer and setting it after with a reliable setting spray. opt for waterproof products if you sweat often!
things to carry with you
if you're going to be in the sun, a parasol will help out tremendously. make sure it's one with a UV cut effect for the best results. my go to one is the "frill millefeuille umbrella" by angelic pretty!
always take water with you!! be sure that you're drinking often.
i take a foldable fan with me. you just charge it overnight with a USB and throw it in your purse when it's time to go. it also doubles as a charging battery for your phone and a flashlight! looks small and wimpy but it has two settings and the more powerful one definitely makes a difference.
Tumblr media
touch ups
a big part about going out in the heat wearing lolita is upkeep and touch ups, especially if you're going to be out of the house for a long time. personally, i carry around these items.. but you should of course tailor this to exclude products you don't think you'll need, everyone's different!
Tumblr media
a mirror travel size mini dry shampoo (great for extra long days in the heat, especially if your bangs tend to get oily quick, while the rest of your hair doesn't) foldable comb (bang touch ups) blotting sheets (i have combination skin and my T zone gets oily quite fast in the summer. amazing for your forehead, since it's touching your bangs and could be making them oily quicker) compact powder puff (makeup touch ups)

Rating the TriStamp Designs based on Suitability for Desert Travel
So, to give this post some context, in my character design class from two semesters ago, it was a super big thing for our professor that characters were dressed to the environment, ie hot weather causing folks to wear short-sleeved clothes, or combat focused characters dressing based on their style of combat and mobility requirements. I was doing some sketches yesterday and realized, man, some of them are actually fucked when it comes to the environment itself. And...well, here's my hotcakes.
Zazzie the Beast: 9/10
Clothing is the loosest out of the group, with the lightest over all colors. The outfit has not just one but two possible ways to cover the face, such as the mask and that scarf thingie. The main reason I'm marking the fit is for the pants, which would give them one weird sunburn. They'd also need more warmth once the suns go down.
Meryl: 8/10
Loose fitting and light clothing is a huge plus. She also has layers, allowing her to adjust better as nightfall hits. However, she has almost no face and eye protection, which would leave her with a nasty case of windburn.
Knives: 7/10
Tight fitting clothes trap the sweat against your skin, increasing the odds of overheating. His feet are also bare, so you know good and well that they're going to get roasted and burnt by the hot sand, causing blisters at best. However, having the cloak could, in theory, keep him cool during the day, and its looseness should allow for more airflow. Would've been a 6, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his skintight suit. Who knows, it could be some real damn breathable fabric.
Roberto: 7/10
Light colors, layer potential. He's doing really well in terms of clothing. However, a suit coat would absolutely be too heavy for day wear. Also, he doesn't have any sort of face, eye or ear protection, so fighting the sand would be difficult.
Legato: 7/ 10
Same thought process here as Roberto. His clothing is light on the outer layers, which could help with heat management. However, his under layers are black, which would make him feel a whole lot hotter in the case that he had to remove his jacket, which he probably will need to, because it looks thick as hell. No facial protection.
Wolfwood: 6/10
Dark clothes, not good. But they're at least pretty loose and unbuttoned quite a bit. He has eye protection in the form of sunglasses, which would help with both sand and UV protection. Loafers might be an issue, though. If he can't keep the sand out of them, he could end up with some vile blisters.
Vash: 4/10
Has eye protection. It doesn't look like it would block much sunlight, but it would help for the sand, so that's a massive boost. However, tell me that jacket isn't going to be hot as hell out there. I dare you. He's also wearing very tight-fitting black clothing, which is not going to work out too well for him. He also runs the issue of his prosthetic. There isn't any way for him to keep sand out of the joints, which will, after some time, render his prosthetic unusable or extremely uncomfortable. His undercut gives him an extra point, though, because it'd help with the weight of hair and help keep his head cool.
Livio: 3/10
Dark clothes, not very lose. No eye protection. He'd be absolutely fucked. Keeping his hair out of his eyes will provide a slight advantage when it comes to seeing things, but it's completely irrelevant when compared to the horrible sun exhaustion this poor man is going to face. And he's got a turtle neck so he's just going to have more sweat trapped close to his body with nowhere for all of that to go. Dehydration and heat management would be a horrible issue for him, besides the fact that the metal thing on his face would heat up from the sunlight and begin to scorch his skin or even blind him. His outfit when he was young would've been fantastic, if his shorts were longer, but, yknow, three layers of black suits.... Poor dude. Someone get this man a kool-aid pouch.
Thats all for now folks. Enjoy!

A Tale of Eden 1
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
I wrote... a thing.
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what I wrote. It was supposed to be pointless smut, and while it does have the smut, it’s like... 30% of the story. I think. Maybe less. The whole thing’s a little under 20K words.
Eden is a setting near and dear to my heart. I’m world-building on it, but I don’t know that I’ll ever do anything with it. I just like having it.
Still, if you’re interested, the tags on it are #Eden and #Marcus and Aire.
There will be, uh. Erotica, I guess? Male on male intimacy. It will be tagged when it comes up. And there will be violence and blood and gore at the very end, that will also be tagged. And Aire has a mouth on him, so there’ll be a profanity tag too, probably. It will update once a week, Tuesdays at 4 PM (because that’s what time it is now).
Like I said, I don’t know what I wrote.
Aire’s first mistake had been going back to the club.
He’d been lucky the first time. Eden perched like a gleaming island above the  city, floating over a sea of lights, rising above the smoke, above the fog, above the stress, the misery, the everyday. It was invitation-only, and not all the money in the world could buy you entry. You might be welcomed one night, and turned away the next.
He’d made it in the back way, with the staff, and by the time the first check had come he looked too much like one of the party-goers, shirt off, pants all but painted on, skin gleaming with UV glitter. Security hadn’t given him too close a look, or so he’d thought. He’d joined the sea of motion on the dance floor, heartbeat matched to the bass, skin growing slick with sweat, lost to the rich hive mind of the dance, drunk in the knowledge that, by his own personal count, he’d won, slipping into a place better watched than heaven itself.
Until a lull in the music had come, and he’d felt a gaze like the grip of a wolf’s teeth on the back of his neck.
He’d seen him then, standing at the edge of the dance floor, hands tucked into the pockets of his suit, looking calm. Relaxed. Amused. There had been a little smile on that gorgeous mouth, and his eyes shone red when the lights hit them just right. And Aire had known. He’d been had. He’d bolted through the crowd, and a few times he’d felt as if there were fingers brushing his back, the breath of something hungry washing over his neck. He’d burst out of the door and ran for nearly a block, and even though he’d been gasping for breath when he stopped, he’d been shivering.
The second time he’d snuck in with a group of young and wealthy socialites. He’d picked the pocket of one for her invitation, not that it had mattered; they’d been waved through en masse.
The music was the sea and the dancers were the tide and he’d forgotten he wasn’t supposed to be there, swaying and twisting, the lights glancing off sweat and glitter and UV chalk. Blasts of ice cold fog washed occasionally over the dancers, obscuring everything from view.
A hand had closed like a vice over the back of his neck, and all the memories he’d fought to forget rushed back and nearly drowned him. The man. The smile. The gleaming eyes.
It felt exactly as if a great beast had clamped its jaws on him. Aire snatched for the arm behind the hand, found fabric and tremendous, inhuman muscle beneath it.
“If you keep coming back,” a low man’s voice said against his ear so he could hear the words over the music, “I’m going to think you like me, sprite.” Aire twisted sharply, with far more strength than his captor expected, broke free, and ran. But this time, there were guards and bouncers at every exit. This time, there was no sneaking out with the staff. This time he was too high up, the streets and their darkness and their corners too far to protect him.
He raced up to the catwalks, hoping to buy himself some time. The man was waiting for him at the top, and when Aire froze at the sight of him, he laughed a little. “You look so offended, sprite.”
“How’s your wrist?” Aire shot back acidly. “Sore,” the man admitted, surprising him. “Nice twist. Needs muscle to back it up. It’s well hidden under all the colors.” He lifted both gloved hands. “I just want to talk.” “I don’t.”
“Not even if I make the invite legal? For once?” Aire’s expression betrayed him, and the man grinned. “Ahhh. It’s the sneaking in that’s fun, not the club.”
“The club’s ok,” he admitted grudgingly.
“Be that as it may,” the bouncer shifted lazily. “The owners don’t like party crashers.” “I’m not crashing the party, I’m joining it.”
“Not my call, not yours, sprite. You want to come back, you go through me.” Slowly, carefully, the man reached into the front pocket of his jacket and pulled out a small card. “One time, sprite. As my guest.” “And what do you want for it?” “For you to sit and talk. If that’s too much, we can stand right here and trade names, maybe?” “No. Not here.” Aire lifted his head. “Outside.”
That caught the man off-guard. “I’m working, sprite, I can’t just walk out.”
“Up top, then. I want to see the Elysium.” The man laughed. “The absolute cheek of you. Alright. Come on, then.”
It had been a test, and the result had been… frightening. Eden’s inner garden was only opened for private parties, so they’d been alone up there, surrounded by plants that gleamed and glowed, by a thousand scents that usually only the highest members of Avalon and Heaven and Hell got to experience. It was raining faintly, a chill autumn drizzle, and Aire turned his face up to it, trying to put his whirling thoughts into any kind of order. Who was this man who could breach the gates of Elysium on a whim, just for him?
Under the purer lights of the garden, they were both of a height. Aire was leaner, but with the rain washing away the glitter, the actual muscle of him was easier to see. He was infinitely paler than his unwanted escort, though the actual shades were impossible to see under the living glow of the plants. “Did you put glamour in the glitter?” The man was a few steps behind Aire, his hands back in his pockets. “I’m not stupid. Magic would have tripped the bouncers’ telltales at the doors.” “Something did trip the telltales on the floor.” The man tipped his head minutely when Aire flushed. “You. It was you. How interesting.” “You wanted to trade names?” “Not literally.” “I’m not Court,” Aire said acidly. “I’m Chantry.”
The man took an automatic step back, as anyone with a sense of self-preservation should. “A mage? Out without an escort?”
“Not enough of one to merit protection. I’m an eyesore, alright? Wherever I go I’m too much or not enough and no one wants me. What about you? Fair’s fair.” “Court,” the man admitted easily. “Stone.” “You are so not a troll.” The man laughed. “Half.”
“What’s the other half?” “Incidental.” “Not to me. It’s how you found me, isn’t it? What is it, hound? Were?”
“Marcus.” Aire’s thoughts derailed.
“Marc, to my friends.” “Aire.” “That is not your real name.”
“It’s my name.” He drew himself up straight and made it painfully obvious that he was terribly put upon by having to do so. “Pleasure to meet you, Marcus.” “Marc to my friends.” “Duly noted, Marcus.”
A wry smile touched the half-troll’s mouth. Aire rubbed restlessly at his shoulders as the silence expanded between them. Marcus was unfairly handsome, and the surprising part of it was Aire could see that much of it was the troll blood in him. The bouncer had powerful, square features, a generous mouth, a nose gone a little crooked, deep brown eyes under heavy black brows and a mass of neatly combed black hair. Aire wasn’t small; he knew this rationally. But before the bouncer, with his half-troll height and those very broad shoulders he felt nearly petite.
The troll bit did explain why he’d had a prey response the first time, at least. He shivered in memory.
A moment later Marcus was draping his jacket over Aire’s shoulders.
“I’m not cold,” he declared haughtily. “No, but your colors are running, and they’re so nice to look at.”
Aire stepped away. The jacket smelled of cologne and more, of things indeterminate and deadly, of magic and stone, of blood and water and dark, cool spaces, of hidden green growth, of forgotten treasures. Goosebumps broke out wherever his skin was touching the satin lining. “It’s gonna get stained,” he murmured. “I’ve got a good dry cleaner. Who are you, little mage? What are you doing here?” Marcus gestured, and they began to walk along the gleaming sand paths. “Well, I was dancing and enjoying myself, until an asshat grabbed me.”
“Dance floor’s for guests.” Marcus’ mouth was twitching.
“I made it through the doors, doesn’t that make me a guest?” “Makes you something, that’s for sure.”
“Really, who am I hurting? I want to dance, Marcus. Yes, it’s fun to sneak in, just because I can. But I want to dance, to have fun, to be in a place where no one cares what I am, where no one cares who I am. On the dance floor I’m one more drop in the ocean, and it’s a good feeling. I don’t get a lot of that.”
“What should we do if the Chantry comes looking for you? Eden’s neutral ground, sprite -”
“Aire!”
“- and if they think we’re harboring a rogue, the club’s suddenly got enemies it can’t afford.”
“No one’s ever truly neutral.”
The muscles along the bouncer’s jaw worked sharply. “My job’s to protect this place, Aire. Don’t get between a troll and his grotto.”
“My job’s to sneak in, have fun and sneak out. That’s it,” Aire pointed out defiantly. “Don’t get between my fun and me.”
Marcus tucked his hands back in his pockets, and Aire realized he was doing so to keep them out of sight. “What’s it going to take to keep you out of trouble?” “Oh, that’s more of a fight than any one person can pick up, let alone win.”
“I do love a challenge. Fine. What’s it going to take to keep you out of trouble here? If I keep inviting you, does it lose its appeal?” “You would, too.” “Absolutely.”
“Well, it hasn’t lost its appeal yet!” At that the bouncer did laugh out loud, rich and merry. “Then I’ll see you next time, little sprite.” “Aire!” “And I’m Marc to my friends.”
He left him there in the rain with his jacket. Aire slept wrapped up in it.
***
When he returned to Eden Aire was terribly disappointed to find that the card, while it did indeed grant him entrance, didn’t immediately summon the bouncer. He sulked at the bar over a club soda, eventually popping the maraschino that came with it in his mouth and making his way to the dance floor, willingly surrendering himself to the press of bodies and the flooding heat, one of many, a leaf in a storm among so many others, waiting only to be plucked away and sent to a higher, stranger place.
He danced until he was panting and sweat-sheened, and staggered when the music finally began to peter out.
A hand caught and steadied him. “Evening, sprite.” He latched onto that hand and lifted it to his face. The bouncer immediately tried to yank it away, but Aire, again, was stronger than he looked. He ran his fingers over it and, unsurprisingly, found soft, exquisitely crafted gloves in place. But even with those balking him he could feel no massive claws at the tips of Marcus’ fingers.
“You’re not a were.” Marcus closed his hand into a fist when Aire tried to get the glove off. “Told you. Troll.”
“Half-troll. Or you’d have eaten me by now.” Marcus’ brows shot upward, and his mouth curled into a very subtle smile. “The desire’s been there.”
Aire felt himself go profoundly red, caught completely off-guard by that admission. He shoved the hand and its owner away and stalked off to the bar for water. When another card was offered, he snatched it away after a moment’s irritated frustration. “Are you trying to buy me off? It won’t work.” “I get the feeling I won’t see you if it’s not here, sprite -” “Aire.”
“- so I’m hedging my odds a little.” “You think you got a chance with me?” Aire scoffed. “Have some self-respect, set your sights a little higher.” Marcus shot a hand out and caught his chin. “They’re high enough. Don’t do that, Aire. Whatever might be going on with you and your life, don’t whittle away at who you are and what you’ve achieved.” Aire suddenly felt as if he couldn’t breathe. “I haven’t achieved jack,” he managed, startlingly and unexpectedly hungry for the warmth of that hand, the relentless, calm touch of that level brown gaze on him. “You’re not in the Chantry. Let’s toss in escaping the mage-hounds, while we’re at that.” Marcus grinned. “And you’re in Eden. Achievements, both.”
“They would be if you let me sneak in.”
Marcus said nothing. They turned their backs to the bar and watched the ebb and flow of the club. “Are we still trading?” Aire asked suddenly. “If you like.” “I’m not full mage.”
“Mages kill half-breeds.” Marcus frowned.
“If they can catch them.”
“You’re giving me a secret. A treasure. What are you going to ask for in exchange, I wonder.”
“Protection.” “I’m giving you that already.” “No. Preemptive protection. Because… Because you’re nice, and you’re being nice to me, and I don’t want to… I don’t want to end up thralled by accident. Not by you.” Marcus’ brows shot up. “And how would you know about being thralled?” “Whatever! Just, can you – I don’t know! Make it so I know it’s me, it’s honest?”
“Yes, but you won’t let me.”
“I just asked you to!” “It takes a kiss.”
“Excuse me?!” Aire drew back, insulted. “I told you you wouldn’t let me. I need to kiss you. It puts a mark on you, like a vaccine. Just enough glamour to bounce off the general… ambient energy.”
“You’re lying.” “I swear I’m not. And trolls suck at lying anyway.”
“How very convenient,” Aire ground out through gritted teeth. “I’ll leave you to think on it.”
He did think on it. It took him nearly a week to make up his mind and go back to Eden, and he went up to the catwalk to stare at the dance floor rather than join it. “I never meant to chase you away, Aire,” the quiet, rumbling voice of the half-troll came not too long after, apologetic and still so calm. “You didn’t.” He turned. The hoodie he’d been wearing was draped over the railing, and colors rioted over the pale muscles of his chest and arms. “Why are you being nice to me, Marcus?” He saw the half-troll pause and frown, the dark brown of his eyes looking at nothing. “Because you dance as if you’d rather die than stop.” He shrugged. “It’s a troll thing. You see something in a cage, you want to let it out.”
Aire felt the world go out from under him. Without knowing him, without knowing hardly anything about him, the bouncer had read him far more deeply, far better than anyone in Aire’s life ever had. “You can’t make me like you,” he whispered.
“No. But you can.”
“What’s the other half?” “What’s yours?”
“That’s not fair.” “Life’s not fair. We still go along for the ride.”
“Don’t you philosophize at me, that’s rude.”
Marcus let out a short, surprised bark of laughter.
“Fine. One kiss.”
The bouncer looked openly stunned. Then he stepped forward. “One kiss. Are you sure? It puts a mark on you. I swear to you, Aire, on the stone of my heart, that I would never claim you, but it’s still going to be there for others to see.”
“Good. Can you make it this color?” Aire pointed to a bright spray of crimson glitter on one side of his neck, watched the half-troll’s eyes follow. He’d expected hunger, but not the kind that made those eyes light up. “Not a vampire, either.”
“I wouldn’t mind a bite,” Marcus declared, voice gone low, “just not that kind.” Suddenly he was there, before Aire, all powerful muscles and broad shoulders and that inhuman scent of troll and… and what? He braced himself, breath catching. Marcus leaned forward, and Aire’s eyes fluttered closed in both trepidation and anticipation. With the lightest touch, the bouncer kissed Aire’s forehead, lingering, the warmth of the contact flooding through him like summer and sun-touched honey.
Then Marcus was pulling away, and Aire dragged in a broken, stuttering breath. “What… was that?!” “A kiss?” “Oh, that was not a fucking kiss, you utter cheating coward, this is a kiss!” Aire lunged forward, caught Marcus’ tie in one hand, the lapels of his jacket in the other, yanked the bouncer close and kissed him like both their lives depended on it.
The half-troll staggered back, caught utterly by surprise. Aire caught Marcus’ lower lip between his teeth and licked it before he went back to kissing the bouncer, felt strong arms come around him, tightening as a rumble like an avalanche rose from the half-troll’s chest. He let go of the tie and ran his hand through the very neat black hair, leaving it a tousled mass, the other clinging to one of the bouncer’s shoulders. One of the arms around him tightened even more; the other rose to cradle his head, fingers playing over the fine, pale blond scruff.
“That’s a kiss,” Aire declared haughtily, gasping for breath, when they finally parted, even if it was just a couple of inches.
“I stand corrected,” Marcus rumbled, his voice a low, guttural, inhuman undertone. He slid a hand up to cradle Aire’s face, brushing his thumb against those kiss-bruised lips. “Let me know if I get it right this time.” They fell into another kiss, less urgent now that they knew where they stood with one another, but no less devouring. Marcus mapped out every inch of Aire’s mouth with his own, teeth grazing delicately over those lips until they were tingling in the most maddening fashion; then the half-troll trailed his mouth down. “Now, about that bite…”
“Watch the glitter,” Aire managed to wheeze. “It doesn’t taste good.” He felt the bouncer laugh under his hands, and a moment later a mouth had fastened at the base of his neck in a slow kiss that made his head loll back; he felt the touch of those sharp, sharp teeth and moaned, fingers digging into Marcus’ shoulders. The pressure increased, a lush and sharp and delicious sting of pain sprouting and growing and tangling up with the pleasure until it was impossible to tell where one began and the other ended, until they were both one and the same. Marcus bit and sucked on the mouthful of skin and flesh he’d secured, and his arms around Aire were tight enough to make it nearly impossible to breathe for a moment. Then he let go, panting slightly, a red light dancing in his eyes. “Think I better let you go, Aire.” He licked his lips. “You taste too good.” “What makes you think I’m letting you go, Marc?” The name distracted the bouncer just long enough for Aire to dart forward and catch onto that mouth with his own, biting at those lips, tasting himself there and feeling goosebumps come up all over his arms. He trailed nipping kisses along the line of the half-troll’s jaw, heard an unearthly sound come from him.
Marcus grabbed his arms. “Aire, I can’t -” But then Aire was running his tongue over the column of the bouncer’s neck, over the jut of his Adam’s apple, along his chin and back to his mouth for a slow, lingering last little kiss before they parted, and a sound somewhere between a snarl and a whine spilled out of the half-troll, words forgotten. “Well, the kissing needs practice,” Aire breathed. “The rest works for me. Hi, Marc, nice to meet you.” The arms around him relaxed, dropped to cradle him close, the half-troll’s smile very bright in the club’s gloom. “Hello, Aire.” He touched his forehead to Aire’s and closed his eyes. “Go dance. Please? Let me watch you be happy.” Aire pulled away slightly, looking very closely at the bouncer. “Is that what you’re doing? Watching me dance?” “Yes.” Marcus’ smile turned a little bit wicked. “And looking at your ass.” “Asshat!”

No thoughts, head empty, just the aids Jotaro would need in the Vampiric AU to be able to live his life normally-
Given what we know from Part 2, it seems to be specifically UV Light which is the dangerous one instead of all light coming from the sun, and luckily for Jotaro, UV light can be blocked. Given the right set up and resources, which won’t be a problem because Joseph has a lot of money and wouldn’t hesitate to help out, he should be able to live his life at least semi normally
First off, if there are going to be any windows in the house they’ll have to be replaced by ones which block all UV radiation in order for them to be safe. There will probably be a bit of a testing phase to see how much UV is too much and how much Jotaro can handle. Maybe Holly could even have a sort of greenhouse type attachment put onto the house with the special glass so Jotaro can experience light and warmth safely
Secondly, for when Jotaro does go outside, he’s going to need some specialized clothing. At the very least his current outfit already works really well for sun coverage and only needs a couple changes, aside from changing the fabric. Probably something to keep the sleeves down around his wrists, and definitely some kind of long, thick gloves for his hands. He’s also probably going to need a hoodie for his head, ofc with his trademark hat, and some kind of face covering alongside some eye-wear
Daytime Stand Fights are now going to be a LOT more dangerous and risky for him. Blunt force is the safest, but any kind of cutting, burning, or anything that could damage the fabric could be crippling at best and lethal at worst. At the very least he has his new speed and strength to help out, and if we really want to go with Anime Logic, Dio’s clothes seemed to heal alongside him. So in that case, as long as Jotaro gets into some shade to heal, he’ll be mostly fine, albeit with the healing delayed because UV Wounds Are A Bitch To Heal From
Age wise Jotaro probably wouldn’t have many issues. He barely changes between Stardust and Diamond, and given his size and demeanor he’d likely be able to convincingly pass as a human. Age being an issue would only begin to arise as he gets older and older and no noticeable changes have happened to him. However, I don’t think it would be that difficult for the Speedwagon Foundation to give him a new legal identity.
And finally, my favorite part of it, the diet :)
Or to be more specific, his lack of. Jotaro likely wouldn’t be able to eat most human foods anymore. It’ll either accomplish nothing and just fill his stomach, or it will make him sick because his body wouldn’t recognize it as food and would reject it. The closest substitute to humans that he could consume would likely be very undercooked red meats, but from a moral and trauma stand point he would probably only eat sparingly because if the implications of what it meant and his PTSD from Dio
What if this makes Jotaro a weird mix of skinny and still very muscular. He’s still positively built, but now theres not much else to his frame other than that. It looks almost hollow in some places, and after a couple years you can easily count the sides of his ribs. His stomach area grows abnormally skinny and his spine protrudes out the back. He’s so clearly unhealthy and feels so ravishingly starving, yet the thought of consuming anything threatens to make him loose the little food he has eaten

What You Need to Know About Skin Care After Sun Exposure
Sun exposure can have both positive and negative effects on your skin. On one hand, it can provide vitamin D, boost your mood, and enhance your appearance. On the other hand, it can also cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. Therefore, it is important to know how to protect your skin from the sun and how to take care of it after sun exposure.
How to Protect Your Skin from the Sun
The best way to protect your skin from the sun is to avoid excessive sun exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are the strongest. However, if you have to go outside during these hours, you should follow these tips:
- Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and broad-spectrum protection, which can block both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays can penetrate deeper into the skin and cause wrinkles, sagging, and dark spots. UVB rays can damage the surface of the skin and cause sunburn and skin cancer. You should apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours or after sweating or swimming.
- Wear protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses. You can also look for clothes with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor), which can indicate how much UV radiation can pass through the fabric. The higher the UPF, the better the protection. For example, a shirt with UPF 50 can block 98% of UV rays.
- Seek shade whenever possible, such as under trees, umbrellas, or awnings. However, keep in mind that shade does not provide complete protection, as UV rays can still reflect from the ground, water, or sand. Therefore, you should still wear sunscreen and clothing even if you are in the shade.
- Avoid artificial tanning, such as tanning beds, lamps, or booths. These devices can emit UV rays that are even more intense than the sun and can increase your risk of skin cancer and aging. If you want to have a tan, you can opt for safer alternatives, such as self-tanning products or spray tans.
How to Take Care of Your Skin After Sun Exposure
Even if you follow the above tips, you may still experience some degree of sun damage after being outside. This is because the sun can affect your skin in various ways, such as:
- Dehydrating your skin, which can make it dry, flaky, and tight. This can also impair your skin's barrier function, which can make it more vulnerable to infections and irritants.
- Inflaming your skin, which can cause redness, swelling, pain, and itching. This can also trigger the production of free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage your skin cells and DNA.
- Pigmenting your skin, which can cause tanning, freckles, or dark spots. This is a result of your skin producing more melanin, which is a pigment that can protect your skin from further sun damage. However, too much melanin can also cause uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
- Aging your skin, which can cause wrinkles, sagging, and loss of elasticity. This is a result of your skin breaking down collagen and elastin, which are the proteins that give your skin its structure and firmness.
To minimize these effects and help your skin recover after sun exposure, you should follow these tips:
- Wash your skin gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. This can help remove any dirt, sweat, or sunscreen residue from your skin and prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Avoid using harsh soaps, scrubs, or hot water, as they can irritate your skin and strip away its natural oils.
- Moisturize your skin generously with a hydrating lotion or cream. This can help replenish the moisture that your skin lost from the sun and restore its barrier function. Look for moisturizers that contain soothing and healing ingredients, such as aloe vera, chamomile, oatmeal, or green tea. Avoid moisturizers that contain alcohol, fragrance, or retinoids, as they can dry out or sensitize your skin.
- Cool your skin with a cold compress, ice pack, or damp cloth. This can help reduce the inflammation, pain, and itching that your skin may experience after sun exposure. You can also use products that contain cooling and anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as menthol, cucumber, or calamine. Avoid applying ice directly to your skin, as it can cause frostbite or damage your blood vessels.
- Treat your skin with products that can repair the sun damage and prevent further harm. For example, you can use products that contain antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, or niacinamide, which can neutralize the free radicals and brighten your skin tone. You can also use products that contain ingredients that can stimulate collagen and elastin production, such as peptides, growth factors, or retinol. However, be careful with using products that can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, such as alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide. You should use them at night and always wear sunscreen during the day.
- Hydrate your body internally by drinking plenty of water and fluids. This can help replenish the water that your body lost from sweating and prevent dehydration, which can affect your skin and overall health. You can also eat foods that are rich in water, such as fruits, vegetables, soups, or smoothies. Avoid drinking alcohol, caffeine, or sugary drinks, as they can dehydrate your body and worsen your skin condition.
Conclusion
Sun exposure can have both positive and negative effects on your skin, depending on how much and how often you expose yourself to it. To protect your skin from the sun and take care of it after sun exposure, you should follow the tips mentioned above and consult your dermatologist if you have any concerns or questions. By doing so, you can enjoy the benefits of the sun while minimizing its risks and keeping your skin healthy and beautiful.

How You make You custom Cosmo from Sonic X figure? I REALLY WANT a cosmo figure in Jakks Pacific Sonic figure scale
To give you the sort-of brief version, for the base/parts I used:
A Jakks Pacific Amy figure
Boots from a Jakks Pacific Rouge figure
Hands from a Jazwares Tails figure
Lower legs from an Equestria Girls minis figure(Rainbow Rocks Rarity, to be precise)
2 6mm X 5mm X 2.9mm ball joints (used those to give her elbow articulation)
Tumblr media
Mind you it took quite a bit of prep work and sculpting. Oh, and buffing and sanding, before and after doing the sculpting job. Sooo much buffing and sanding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You don't even have to use all of the listed figures or parts I just listed. Heck, you don't even have to use an official Sonic as your base. This is just how I went about making mine. But, I would highly recommend that at the very least you use an Amy head for your custom Cosmo figure.
This is a complete list of supplies I used to make my Cosmo figure. Keep in mind, it's not necessary for you to use single thing listed here. But the materials that are absolutely necessary, and what you would need at the bare minimum, will be in bold text:
2 Part Apoxie Sculpt (if you can't get it or don't want to use, I've heard cosplay foam clay works as a good enough substitute)
Fine grit sandpaper and cosmetic blocks
Acrylic paint (I personally use Delta Creative Ceramcoat most of the time)
Watercolor brushes and miniature brushes of varying sizes (I mainly watercolor brushes because it helps the paint go on more smooth)
Worbla
Heat gun
Mechanical pencil and a good quality eraser (I use it to sketch the eyes before paint)
Toothpicks or wire (I sculpted her rosebud buns onto toothpicks and then used the tooth picks to anchor them onto the head)
Sharpies or paint markers (to better color match the joints, as it's easier to do since paint chips off of them the majority of the time even when sanding them and using watered down paint)
Derwent watercolor pencils (you can easily just paint the eyes on, but I prefer to use this method as it's easier for me to do)
Tin foil (in order to fill in the head before sculpting the back of her hair on, and not to use as much apoxie clay)
White felt (I used this stuff to make her petal skirt, but there are many other potential fabrics and materials you could use too)
X-acto knife (for the love of God be super careful and don't accidentally slice a chunk of your finger off like I did once)
Gorilla super glue or hot glue
Mr. Super Clear UV Cut Flat- or Duraclear Matte or Ultra-Matte
I can further go into the specifics of how I made my Cosmo figure. But as far as what I used to make, well, there you go.

Can sunscreen be safely used during pregnancy?
As any expectant mother knows, taking care of yourself during pregnancy is a top priority. From monitoring your diet to getting regular exercise, there are many things you can do to promote a healthy pregnancy. One question that often arises, however, is whether it is safe to use sunscreen during pregnancy. In this blog, we will explore this topic in detail and answer the question: can the use of sunscreen be considered safe during pregnancy?
The short answer is that using sunscreen while pregnant is safe. In fact, medical experts strongly advise against it. Pregnant Women should use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and protective gear to shield themselves from the sun's harmful rays. This is due to the fact that being pregnant might make your skin more sensitive to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays, which can cause skin damage, early ageing, and even skin cancer.
Tumblr media
Yet, some pregnant women can worry about the safety of sunscreen due to the presence of certain ingredients. For instance, the popular sunscreen ingredient oxybenzone has been proven to mimic oestrogen in the body and may cause hormonal imbalances. Retinyl palmitate, another component, is a form of vitamin A that, when consumed in high concentrations, has been associated to birth abnormalities. So, if you are worried about these components, what should you do?
It is essential to note that the risks associated with these ingredients are generally considered to be low. In fact, many experts believe that the benefits of using sunscreen far outweigh any possible risks. Pregnant women who used sunscreen regularly had a lower risk of developing melasma, a condition characterized by dark patches on the skin.
If you are still concerned about the safety of sunscreen during pregnancy, there are some tips you can take to minimize any potential risks. You can choose a sunscreen that does not contain oxybenzone or retinyl palmitate. Look for sunscreens that use physical blockers such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide instead. These ingredients work by sitting on top of the skin and reflecting UV rays away from the body, rather than being absorbed into the skin.
Another option is to use a mineral-based sunscreen. These sunscreens are made with natural ingredients such as zinc oxide and are less likely to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions. Some mineral-based sunscreens are also formulated to be water-resistant, which can be a plus if you plan to spend time in the water or sweat a lot.
Lukewarm Sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen that functions by dispersing UV radiation, shielding against both shorter and longer UVA rays. Zinc oxide in Lukewarm Sunscreen is primarily used as a barrier against skin-damaging irritants and UV radiation, it may also have some potential benefits for correcting dark spots or melasma.
When choosing a sunscreen, it is also important to pay attention to the SPF rating. An SPF of at least 30 is advised by the American Academy of Dermatology, as this will block 97% of UVB rays. However, higher SPF ratings do not necessarily offer much more protection, so there is no need to go overboard with a super-high SPF.
In addition to using sunscreen, there are other steps you can take to protect yourself from the sun during pregnancy. You can wear a hat with a wide brim to shade your face and neck, and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants made of lightweight, breathable fabrics. You can also stay indoors during the hottest time of the day (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.).
By choosing a sunscreen with physical blockers or mineral-based ingredients, using an SPF of at least 30, and taking other steps to protect yourself from the sun, you can safely enjoy time. The use of Lukewarm mineral sunscreen can be considered safe during pregnancy!

just seen a dress making tiktok by daisybow_craft and oh man if it isnt 100% how katherine makes a dress for gem. they paint a plain white dress with a uv solution and lay pressed flowers in a pattern over the top, then put it under sunlight which cures a purply pink colour around the flowers, which themselves block the fabric under them from curing and thus leaves blank white flowers as the pattern - its a dress made by the sun!!

The Top Advantages of Tinting Car Windows
Window Tint San Francisco are windows on which a thin laminate film has been applied in order to darken them. TheyÕre mainly embraced for appearance purposes. From the inside, the windows seem flat and opaque, offering some privacy while allowing visibility from the inside. When used on automobiles, they appear in black, which is very beneficial to users of the automobile as well as property in the vehicle.
Benefits of car window tint
The installation of car window tint helps to strengthen the window glass, which is helpful in case of an attempted break-in. The laminate helps to keep the cabin cool in cases of heat since the majority of solar rays do not enter the car. As a result, your air conditioning will require less effort, which results in some fuel savings. Other car window tinting benefits include the following:
Blocks prying eyes
Tinted windows deliver a certain level of intimacy to the occupants of a car. It makes them take their ride quietly without being seen. It also enables them to leave their luggage or valuables in the car without the risk of attracting thieves who are not able to distinguish what is present inside the carÕs cockpit.
Avoidance of discoloration of the carÕs interior fabrics
Avoiding the discoloration effect of the sunÕs rays on a carÕs seats and other interior is also one of the benefits of tinting windows. The tint on the windows makes it possible for the window to block 99% of the ultra-violet (UV) radiation, which makes all the fabrics, like the seatÕs leather and the lining of the carÕs interior, protected from sun attacks.
The tinted windows also protect the skin of the carÕs occupants from the harmful effects of the UV rays during the ride.
Less damage from hail
Car window tint adds another layer of protection to a car window. This protects the car from hail damage. The tint helps to diminish the force of hailstones from seriously impacting a car. Without tint, hail can leave dents in car windows.
Enhanced car resale value
Window Tinting Fremont make a car appear beautiful and can help to attract better prices for a car during resale. Car dealerships often demand that any used car be in excellent condition before it can be displayed for resale in their showrooms. Car window tinting helps to provide this assurance and could result in an increased resale price.
Protection against shattering
Car window tinting offers protection against car window shattering. With the tint, car owners donÕt have to worry about their car windows getting cracked or shattered by flying rocks and other objects.
Making the car comfortable to drive
Window tints prevent the scotching effect of the sun, which usually affects oneÕs eyes while driving. It also makes the inside of a car comfortable for occupants, as the interior feels cooler due to the tintÕs ability to repel excessive heat from the outside.
During the winter season, car window tints not only prevent heat from entering the car but also trap the heat in the car from getting out. This helps keep the inside of the car warm during such colder weather conditions.
Suitable for people with certain health conditions
Tinted windows' benefits to people like those with Cocaine Syndrome, Protoporphyria, Albinism, and Bloom Syndrome, among others, have been widely documented in health journals. These are people who require protection from the sun, which the tinted car windows help to ensure.
Better visibility
When driving at night, poor visibility, especially with strong headlights from oncoming vehicles, could cause an accident. Tinted car windows help to prevent the headlights from oncoming vehicles from reflecting directly into oneÕs field of vision.

everyone does not need to wear sunscreen. everyone needs to protect their skin against the sun, absolutely, because skin cancer is very bad and even a mild sunburn is still uncomfortable and best avoided. but sunscreen is not the best way for everyone to accomplish that (not all of us can wear it, for various reasons!). you can also wear uv-blocking garments (i made mine myself out of uv-blocking fabric, but there are pre-made uv-blocking garments too) or carry a parasol, as well as just... stay out of the sun most of the time when there isn't enough cloud cover. if you can't wear sunscreen don't just give up on uv safety entirely! there are options!
