Leon is dead, properly dead, but when the story is ending their odd nemesis - Leon's nemesis, a demon, the capitalist in charge, who the fuck even knows - offer them a deal. A little game, he says, since they've been so entertaining, those past few years. Leon is gone, but Leon can be retrieved, like all good souls can. He only needs people who love him to go down there, and walk, and ask him to; and if he says yes, then they might walk back here, to real life. They only need to trust he'll follow.

("Eurydice," says Dimitri. "Right, got it. How do we do it?

"Dimitri, he's obviously lying," Nica says. "Or there's a catch or-"

oh, the demon grins, wide and sharp. "No catch," he sing-songs. "Just pure old faith and trust, Nica."

"Yeah i'm not trusting that," says Gemma, snorting.

"He is making a deal," Isabelle says slowly. "Let's hear what he thinks is going to happen here."

"Someone goes in, two goes out. It can only be one person. If you fail, I keep this - redline, your thoughts, your money, it's all mine and Legion. If you win, you get dear old Leon back, and your city."

"And our thoughts?" Louisa adds on. The demon laughs. "And your thoughts." he relents.

"I'll do it," says Michael. Everybody stares at him. "I mean obviously I'll do it, it's Leon, I-"

"No," says Dimitri. "Look, Michael, I appreciate it, but it's obviously gotta be Nica and I-"

"One," the demon purrs. "And I think, to make it more interesting, Nica should do it. She's the one who killed him in the first place, didn't she?"

The rooms errupts in angry "she didn't" "shut up" and "oh my god". Nica stays quiet. The demon is still grinning at her, specifically. Nica's mouth is ash. "Fine," she says and all around her it's all "you don't have to" "Nica are you sure" "we need some writing of this" and then mallory is like "OI" and then "Are we truly thinking the dude who asked us to kill him for good will be okay with this? Like. He's got to say yes to come back. You're all prepared for that?"

"he'll do it though," Gemma says. "Right?"

Nica and Dimitri and Michael share looks. Of course he'll do it. He's Leon. Whatever happens next... They'll deal with it.

Nica goes to save her brother.)

#the narrator obviously thinks Nica is going to fail #but SHE DOES NOT.#and she and leon gets to hug and cry all on their own for a while #and she gets to be furious at him for dying and he gets to tell her all he wanted while she was spiralling #greater boston #she almost looks back at the last minute but she's already seeing dimitri and he's saying /just a bit longer Nica/#anyway the narrator obviously tries to screw them around after but hey Leon's back.#they get to fight and kiss #(shut up.)
