Kind of a vent post idk but I just think it's a little funny how the current state of the United States government....is a little reminiscent of the galactic empire from star wars

....you know.....the thing that was based off of the fascist German party during world war 2...anyway just saying this because I rewatched andor and holy FUCK it's a good show. It's a good show to watch when you're feeling hopeless, it kinda reminds you that even though everything is against you, you can do things to change things

hey guys i know tik tok super duper sucks ass, but we need to ensure that it doesnt get banned by the US government because that means other social media sites could get banned if they harm the status quo of authority. to be incredibly frank, i don't give a shit whether or not you use it. what matters is that tik tok is the domino we must keep from falling to ensure our free speech and freedom of expression, because if tik tok leaves, then what's next? tumblr? instagram? youtube? if we let that first domino fall, it's gonna be hard as hell to stop it from causing the downfall of all social media in the USA

Genuine question about the upcoming presidential election:

So we all know both Biden and Trump are bad options, so why don’t we all just not vote for them???

Like, they have write in and third party options on the ballot, right? So if we all (or at least a majority of us) don’t vote for Trump or Biden, won’t that mess up the election??

Idk if I’m understanding this correctly, so please explain to me if I’m wrong. I just can’t stand watching our government keep falling apart.

(this post is long as fuck sorry)

Recently i’ve been seeing a lot of stuff about KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act) on tumblr. And a lot of it seemed pretty extreme. and so i read the bill! turns out that most posts (i’ve seen) were both right and wrong so i’m gonna try and explain what is up with KOSA To make it clear this bill still sucks ass and you should talk to your reps about it.

(disclaimer: there is a reason i am a history major and not pre-law. i may have missed something or not understood some of the greater meanings of the bill. take what i say with a grain of salt)

The two biggest things i’ve seen is that 1)the bill will ban all queer content for everyone in the US. and 2) websites will be shut down immediately for having content that is considered unsafe for children

The bill will not ban all queer content because the bill is not proposing to completely sanitize the internet. here’s the target of the bill in its own words:

“The term “covered platform” means a social media service, social network, video game, messaging application, video streaming service, educational service, or an online platform that connects to the internet and that is used, or is reasonably likely to be used, by a minor.”

which yeah is like a massive chunk of the internet. It’s also where almost all lgbt+ content is. what people are seem to be thinking is that this type of content will be forcibly taken down. it won’t, but it will be censored for anyone under the age of 16. this is because the bill proposes that online platforms have to put on default settings and parental controls for users they suspect or know are 16 or under. These settings would censor pretty much everything. it is then up to users to turn these settings off. the problem with that is the age verification. the bill proposes no way to actually do this. it just says that self reporting doesn’t count and that the cite has to look at someones data and try to see if they’re a minor or not based on what is essentially vibes. But the bill says there needs to be other ways besides the vibes thing. what that looks like i don’t know but it probably won’t be great. once those settings are off though all the gay porn is at your fingertips.

to address the second misconception websites like ao3, tumblr or whatever else won’t immediately shut down. they can be taken to court if they don’t comply with the extremely strict new rules though.

now to address the things that i saw in the bill that has me worried.

the first is the sexual exploitation ban. most of it is pretty good but there is one word that immediately set of red flags: grooming. as most of us probably know recently conservatives have constantly been using the term grooming in relation to lgbt+ people. this means that in certain states all mention of queer people might be censored for 16 under. The other issue with this i’ve seen no one talk about is proper sex education. for example is an informational channel or blog that teaches sex ed banned from its target audience for “grooming” them into having sex? i don’t know but i think it’s a very real possibility people haven’t been talking about.

The second is the new restrictions effect on smaller websites. facebook instagram and other extremely popular for profit sites will probably have no problem putting in these default settings and parental controls but other sites that don’t have the money to completely rework the site may be put out of business or taken to court. (there is an exception with sites that have less than 10,000,000 users but it’s for a data research thing not the censorship)

the third concern i have is data. on one hand the bill would make it so minors data can’t be sold, which is awesome. the problem is is that there will be extremely intense monitoring of data for everyone. (to be honest i know next to nothing about data but it sounded invasive from what i read)

my fourth concern is that i think this will without a doubt decrease the quality of life for lgbt+ teens. there won’t be spaces anymore for kids to discover their own identity and no place to talk about it with others.

the last one i caught was video games. i have no idea how you censor games on the internet that surround violence. like it’s impossible, 12 year olds will be stuck in their Fortnite lobby and can never play the game. i have no idea how they plan to do this one.

To sum up this bill sucks but it’s doesn’t suck in all the ways you think and also sucks in new and exciting ways! talk to your rep, this bill is bad.

hi yall!!! i know my blog is a big dumpster fire of random fandoms and like wallpaper inspo but i think it’s really important to spread awareness about the Kid’s Online Safety Act.

KOSA is a bill in the united states that is attempting to censor the entire internet. this bill allows for anyone (at least in the u.s.) to sue any website or online platform for basically any reason. the result of this will literally just be conservatives suing any site they feel like because there is a big LGBTQIA presence on it. today, the bill was in markup by the senate committee and was passed on with a unanimous vote. so please, sign petitions and call senators as soon as you can.

Made a post about spaying/neutering your animals because I was sick of seeing Facebook posts about kittens dumped on the side of the road. And a family member comments,

I’ve made it abundantly clear that I stand with Roe v. Wade. I am pro-choice. I am pro-abortion. I am pro-women’s rights are human rights.

So I made a giant post urging those that disagree with me, even family members, to get fucked.

Because it obviously needs said again: agree to disagree doesn’t apply here! I’m not discussing whether chocolate or vanilla is better! I’m talking about HUMAN RIGHTS. If you don’t think abortion is okay, that’s your right to choose not to have one. It does not give you permission to force that choice on someone else.

But if we’re just going to throw bodily autonomy out the window, here’s a few laws we should enstate:

1. If someone needs an organ and you have a match, you HAVE to give it to them. You don’t have a choice. The government says so.

2. If you want to get a piercing or tattoo, you’re not allowed. You can’t alter your body without express government permission.

3. Women must stay home. Women can’t vote. Women can’t work. Women can’t own property. Any woman without a husband is a harlot. Since the government says we’re just baby factories.

4. Children out of wedlock? Whore. You’ve just been defaced in the eyes of society. It doesn’t matter if he’s your boyfriend and you’re in love. You’re not married, so it’s automatically wrong. Get married and MAYBE you’ll earn your place back with the Lord.

5. Any and all surguries must be government approved. You can’t decide for yourself, even if it’s lifesaving. No exceptions. Y’know… since they own our bodies.

I will not, under any circumstances, agree to disagree on this. By approving the overturning of Roe. v. Wade, you are actively engaging in my oppression as a woman and a fellow human. Once again, if you do, fuck you.

I did not grow up watching heroes in movies, tv shows, and books stand up for what was right only to be silent now that there’s something I believe in. I will be as loud as I want because being silent for the sake of avoiding conflict is what created some of histories greatest atrocities. And allowing the government to control my body will not become one of them.

There is no room for jokes or snide remarks. This is MY page, and I will post as I please. I don’t need fascist input and bigotry.
