ouhh..... what if the scientists like, also released more prey into the forests or something and the cats became suspicious.... what would the scientists do if one of the clan cats specifically came to them for help for whatever reason?

You have to remember they are researchers. They are interacting with wild animals, and aren't trying to ruin their data with interference like that.

They don't give food gifts, flood the forest with animals (except when other conservation efforts overlap), or attempt to acclimate Clan cats to humans. This fear of people is considered a good thing; it would be very bad for cats to rely on humans or interact with hikers regularly.

(Even SkyClan can end up on thin ice with their willingness to steal and beg.)

So it's unlikely the Clan cats come up to ask for help and that is a positive. If it did happen, they may do the bare minimum (like when a shark asks a human to remove a fishhook), and then write it down in their notes.

But hikers are given a LOT of warnings, and even fined, for bothering the wildlife. Clan cats WILL hurt you if you grab them. You're encouraged to only walk and camp in marked areas.

The cats aren't the only reason for that either!

Sanctuary Lake boasts a sizeable boar population, a red deer herd, over a dozen species of protected songbirds, badgers, otters, foxes, and beavers were (indirectly) re-introduced.

Motor boats are also banned in the lake, to protect water quality. The water is so pure that it's able to host the endangered Freshwater Pearl Mussel, and probably has its own species of endemic fish.

So in a nutshell; no. The Clan cats are not messed with. Interaction is kept distant very purposefully.

#The most unrealistic part of what I mentioned is boar btw #Boar have only recently been reintroduced to the UK period. out of curiosity bc I want to know if it really is Just the US and our poor education system or if it's an issue for other western majority English speaking countries as well so.....

during its apartheid years, south africa had one of the strictest media controls in the world. this extended into homes when television was introduced in the country in 1977 (which the government had delayed until that year due to fears of "undue influence"), and when home video came along with it. each videotape that was legally distributed during these years was required to have a notice in the official languages of english and afrikaans that it complied with media censorship laws codified years prior.

(the model for the certificate was likely influenced by the british board of film classification's. by the beginning of the 20th century, the british had brought the template with them to south africa and other former colonies such as india. south africa was probably the only country to use it on home releases.)

this meant that south africans who watched "legal" videotaped movies not only had to sit through commercials and a standard-issue anti-piracy warning, but a federal confirmation that the film didn't feature an interracial couple, among many other things. the total time for the two warnings could reach up to two minutes long - for comparison, the chorus of "oops i did it again" by britney spears is twenty seconds long - but some were rushed through.

this example was taken from a tape of disney's snow white and the seven dwarfs published in 1994, the year apartheid ended. the media censorship laws which required the certificate would be overhauled two years later, though video openings remained similar for a while after.

UK Rise of Fascism Risk

I'm just scared that, if we in the UK (hopefully) get a Labour government, and they inevitably can't keep the promises they make, people will be suffering like they did before, and they will thereby feel very betrayed. The political pendulum will then swing back to the right even further and that's when things get dangerous. That's when we approach fascism in real terms.

Because when people have been down, hurting, feel humiliated and like they have no control for so long, they will seek to take that anger out on someone. They will try to control anyone they can in order to regain some semblance of dignity, sense of power and agency. The people they will lunge for will be anyone who is even just slightly different to them, but mostly as we know, immigrants and the LGBT community, as well as women eventually too.

This is why I'm doing this work, I'm trying to prevent this from happening. Cause once it has taken root, it's very hard to undo, and not without risking your life. Don't ever think it can't happen here. My grandmother lived through the war in my homecountry.

Never again.
