Ty Lee has no prior haircutting experience, but she has never been good at turning Mai down. She knows, also, that if Mai’s hair were to be cut by a professional, it would require a stranger to stand behind her, blade in hand, fingers in Mai’s hair.

Mai does not trust anyone apart from Ty Lee with something like that.

So they’re here, with Ty Lee holding a knife to Mai’s hair, hands held steady only by the knowledge of Mai’s faith in her.
