✧・゚:* a playlist series with graphics made by @bybdolan
the party : a brokenhearted betty is convinced to throw a party by her closest friends. in an effort to cheer her up, she and the others listen to female power anthems throughout the night. they spin around, cradle one another, and throw themselves into a word where men don’t exist. james shows up and betty is left with two options: lead james to the garden or tell him to go fuck himself.
the garden : the garden holds all of betty’s tightly wound emotions about the affair james had with august. at her most vulnerable, she gives james insight into how she feels about the summer she lost him. they sit side by side, hand in hand, scouring her playlist for a sense of who they are, what they lost, and what they could be.
fuck yourself : instead, in an attempt to rid herself from james’ toxicity once and for all, betty could tell james him to go fuck himself. as her friends crowd in the other room, watching the sulking boy leave the front stoop and skate back down betty’s street, betty sits in the bathroom with headphones in. girl-anthem songs are replaced with those both angry and hurt in nature, comforting her in her moment of duplicity.
