Knossian Board Game
This is modeled after an ancient bronze age artefact unearthed at Knossos, believed by archeologists to be an early board game.
The game is a chess clone and playing it will increase the logic skill.
Make sure when you are placing the object in build mode, you first attach chairs to the board game itself, and then place a table of your choosing underneath the game (using the commands testingcheats true and then bb.moveobjects on). If you do not follow these steps, the sims will not be able to sit and play!

A letter to Matthew Dailey from his daughter Agnes, 189x
Dearest Papa,
We are here!
We arrived in Chestnut Ridge late this morning after a near two days of travel, bursting with both relief and anticipation. Until now the idea of being here seemed a mere fantasy, but now that we have actually made it, I am now reminded of just how real and wonderful it all really is. We are both exhausted from our journey but nevertheless overjoyed to finally be here after so much dreaming and planning, it scarcely feels feel to either of us even now.
Tumblr media
The farm, our farm...what can I say about it? Its ours, and that’s the most important thing. This one in particular was being sold off for quite cheap after its previous owners passed on, and although I do not wish to be rude, it isn’t difficult to see why the bank was so eager to hand it over to us. It is quite an old building and in need of several serious repairs, I fear that one strong gust of wind would be enough to knock it apart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will seems optimistic that we’ll be able to make it work, in spite of the obvious problems. He did have to take out a small loan to pay for it, but he’s confident that we’ll be able to pay it back after our first good harvest. If all goes well, that is, which I trust that it will. We’ve come too far for it not to.
Yours truly,
Mrs. Agnes Barclay
P.S. Do let Aunt Winifred know I miss her dearly, and I plan to write to her as well just as soon as I get the chance.

Medieval sims don't have a lot of authentic floor options. So I've made them some.
Rushes are long, strong river grasses which medieval sims used to make carpets. Whether this was done by just strewing the rushes around a room bounded by thresholds, bundling them, or by weaving them into mats is up for debate by historians, but I went with mats having seen them made by Ruth Goodman for an early Tudor dwelling. I also took inspiration from the below photo.
Tumblr media
There are three options because of the level of difficulty that I had in making a good repeating texture. The less distinct woven texture was my first attempt, followed by the chevron, the second woven texture, and finally the braided texture. The braided texture is the closest to my original intentions, but since I'd already made the others and they could be useful I thought I'd share all three of them (the two woven are in the same package).
All the packages are base game compatible and have multiple earth-tone textures.
Download Braided, Woven, and Chevron Rush Mats from SimFileShare.

Cameron Dorly [SNN]: That's right, Shon. We're hours away from processions and the crowning ceremony where Windenburg crowns a new monarch. There is such a buzz of cheer and excitement in the atmosphere. Almost feels like a royal wedding!
Shon Gableton [SNN]: It absolutely does!
Tumblr media
Shon Gableton [SNN]: Spectators started camping out on the lawn of the Mall at 2 AM. Thankfully, it's a beautiful Spring day in Easton.
Cameron Dorly [SNN]: SNN will be bringing you LIVE coverage from the royal family's procession departing Buckingsim Palace, to the crowning ceremony at Westsimster Abbey, and back to the palace for their first balcony wave.

Tumblr media
Queen Katherine: (somber) I wish daddy could see it. I wish we had a few more hours.
Zarah, Queen Dowager: Focus on the future!
Queen Katherine: Yes, ma'am. Okay, let's get you back in your chair.
Tumblr media
Zarah, Queen Dowager: (wheezing) Is the Queen Mother here yet?
Queen Katherine: I don't think so. I believe she is scheduled to arrive at 10.
Zarah, Queen Dowager: (wheezing) What time... is it now?
Tumblr media
(Princess Grace enters)
Princess Grace: I heard a helicopter!
Queen Katherine: A helicopter? Are you sure?
Princess Grace: Yes. Daddy said it was a helicopter, too!
Tumblr media
Zarah, Queen Dowager: (wheezing) I thought planes were barred from flying over the palace?
Queen Katherine: They are! Everyone wants the first image of me.
Zarah, Queen Dowager: (wheezing) You're about to become the most photographed person in Windenburg. Be prepared, darling!

Prince Anthony: Kate is about to be crowned the first female Windenburg monarch in history! No one wants to miss that.
Tumblr media
Rainier, Prince consort: You'd be surprised who declined invitations...
Prince Anthony: Hey, look at those simmers in the crowd? Those are some creative signs!
Rainier, Prince consort: (excited) Coronation day! It's taken a long time to get here. Just a few more hours!

Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth of Norden, Grand Princess Alexander of Weimar (1767-present)
Princess Elisabeth of Norden was born in 1767 to Karl Duke of Norden and Princess Helene of Vasa at the Brunsbuttel Palace. Elisabeth was christened in the Brunsbuttel Palace Chapel as Elisabeth Christine Margaret Henrietta with her aunts Adelaide and Viktoria as her godmothers and her uncle Charles Gustaf King of Vasa as her godfather. Elisabeth was raised at the Brunsbuttel Palace alongside her other sisters Josefina, Maria Theresa, Paulina, Louise, and Viktoria. Helene did not consider Elisabeth a great beauty like her other siblings and often found her to be needy in her childhood. Elisabeth was a skilled horseback rider and often raced her younger brother Waldemar at their father’s summer residence Schloss Bentswich. Elisabeth remained in Norden for majority of her childhood and never attended the opulent weddings of her older sisters as she was considered too young. Elisabeth was close to her older sister Princess Louise and her younger sister Viktoria. Elisabeth quarreled with her mother frequently and proved to be a bad influence on her sister Viktoria. When her older sister Maria Theresa died and her mother Helene and sisters Paulina and Louise left the Norden Court she briefly became the senior lady of the court. However, her sister Louise came back shortly and later after that her mother Helene and sister Paulina would return. Elisabeth was deeply affected by the death of her father in 1784 and her resentment for her mother grew even deeper. Helene lost hope in finding marriages for her children after her husband’s death and began to neglect her younger children. Elisabeth thought that she was finally free and did not have to marry. However, her aunt Adelaide of Norden decided to find a match for Elisabeth herself. In 1786, Elisabeth was married to Grand Prince Alexander of Weimar, the youngest brother of the King of Weimar. Alexander had three children from his previous marriage, Grand Princess Charlotte, Grand Prince Matthias, and Grand Prince Henry. Alexander had been 10 years older than her and hated being around him. Elisabeth found the court of Weimar to be boring. Elisabeth became a surrogate mother to her husband’s children from his previous marriage and raised them alongside her daughter Grand Princess Frederica born in 1787. Following the birth of her daughter, Elisabeth moved to a residence far from the Weimar Court, known as Schloss Rastatt with her step-children and daughter. In 1794, Elisabeth started an affair with her husband’s private secretary, the Count of Bretten. Elisabeth’s husband discovered the affair in 1796 and threatened to take away custody of their children. Elisabeth refused and ran away with her children to Norden where she sought sanctuary with her brother Wilhelm. Wilhelm was very sympathetic to his sister’s situation and wanted to let her stay in Norden but legally she was required to return to Weimar. Wilhelm did not want this situation to turn into a conflict with the powerful kingdom of Weimar and so he turned her over to her husband Alexander two months later. Elisabeth was put into strict supervision at the Ludwigsburg Palace and shunned by the court who were embarrassed by the scandal that she caused. Elisabeth requested her brother-in-law the King of Weimar for a divorce from her husband but he refused and threatened to send her to a convent and take away her children if she did. Elisabeth stayed in her gilded cage at the Weimar Court in Ludwigsburg Palace and remained unhappy. News of Elisabeth’s scandal spread throughout the continent and tainted the image of the Norden Family. Elisabeth was not even allowed at the marriage of her step-children or her daughter Frederica. Elisabeth’s own sisters turned on her following the scandal besides Viktoria. Viktoria visits Elisabeth frequently and represented her at the wedding of Elisabeth’s daughter Frederica to the Prince of Holbein.

~ Hello everyone! This is my first time posting one of my decade challenge's to tumblr so please be kind and patient with me. I forget to take photos in my games sometimes so there might be patches here and there. I hope everyone enjoys this family as much as I do ~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Yamato’s were a strict couple. Hiroto Yamato came from a family whose trade meant being under the thumb of leadership, but Hiroto never complained, seeing it as an opportunity to work for the rich and wealthy. Kameko stood alongside her husband and believed in a women’s place being at home, caring for her family. Together the couple had three children: Shiho, Momo, and Hiro. The girls were overlooked by their father, rather to have their lives arranged for them all down to who they would marry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shiho was the first as her father arranged her marriage to a wealthy upcoming business man named Kenji Sato. Shiho was a dutiful and polite young lady and had no quarrel with her father’s decisions. She married on her 18th birthday as promised.
Tumblr media
Now came the second daughter, Momo. Momo was smart and creative, loving all things art. She didn’t want her life arranged for her and fought with her mother and father often about it until it boiled over when it came time for her to wed. Momo left home for Simerica, becoming the first in the Yamato’s to immigrate to the great country in the 1900s. She used every cent that she had saved to afford a women’s boarding home in the city and managed to get a job in a factory, working with textile.
Hiro Yamato, the only son of Kameko and Hiroto, decided that once he was old enough he would go to Simerica to pursue a higher education. The Yamato’s planned to send him to his sister Momo, but they had become estranged while Momo worked and lived in the city, not hearing from her for over a year until they received news that she had met a man and had become engaged.
Tumblr media
Momo Yamato met David Chen, whose parents had immigrated to Simerica when he was a boy. He grew up on his family’s farm until it was seized by the government, pushing him and his family into the city. David met Momo at their job in the factory and he’d immediately been taken with her and her confidence. They dated for several months before he proposed to her and the two set a date to be married.
Tumblr media
Wanting to forget grievances, Momo invited her family to her wedding, but only received an acceptance from her mother and sister. Her father didn’t wish to forgive her for betraying the family and her brother was too busy being mentored by her father.
Tumblr media
In the Fall of 1902, Momo married David Chen in a small church ceremony. The two moved out to the countryside where David and Momo used their savings to buy back David’s family farm, starting a new chapter in their lives.

Norse Bronze Matron Set
Inspired by @vroshii's Egtved dress and using the mesh and texture of the disk found on this dress, I have made a version for more matronly sims. Also, a layered necklace, and matching bracelets. Thank you vro for your open TOU!
There are a few swatches for the dress, but they are variations of brown, gray, and white undyed wool. Although the Bronze Age Norsemen had access to materials that could produce dye, there is zero evidence that they actually dyed their clothes before the start of the Iron Age. They were, however, experts at metalsmithing, hence the magnificent jewelry.

“...it doesn’t need to be perfect, Aunt Winifred.”
“Nonsense, dear, its your wedding day, of course it has to be perfect!”
Agnes sighed as her aunt fidgeted about with the skirts of her wedding dress for what must have been the tenth time in barely five minutes, but made no other movements or noises of protests. There was no point to it when she’d only receive the same response as she had the last several times, and thus she stayed put.
Or at the very least, she stayed put the best she could. Because it was taking everything in her to not just collapse into a overwrought heap of nervousness.
Tumblr media
It was normal for brides to feel anxious, she supposed. Great-Aunt Winifred had said so, but then, Agnes wasn’t sure how much her aunt knew about weddings or being a bride given her perpetual state of spinsterhood. Nevertheless, Agnes tried not to think about it too much. For if she did, she knew she’d only begin trembling again as she had when she’d woken up this morning, and she’d only just managed to make herself stop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though whether she trembled with worry or excitement, it was hard to tell. Her mind was all aflutter with every emotion imaginable, at least the ones expected of a young woman about to be married. Why shouldn’t it be, after all? Her life as she knew it was about to change in such a grand way, she’d have a new home, a new name.
A new husband.
Oh, how she detested the fact that she couldn’t see her dear Will at this moment. She didn’t think she’d seen him for two days now, and she was sure she might just explode before she even made it down the aisle. “Its bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, after all," Aunt Winifred had tutted, much to Agnes' annoyance.
Oh well, no matter. It wouldn’t be much longer, it couldn’t be.
Today, she would become Mrs. William Barclay, just as she’d always dreamed she would.

March 24: National Day of Memory for truth and justice
Today is the day in Argentina to commemorate the victims of the last military dictatorship, self-styled "National Reorganization Process", which usurped the government of the Argentine national state between March 24, 1976 and December 10, 1983. The date highlights the importance of democratic continuity, which in 2023 will be 40 years old.
April 1977, when 14 women gathered for the first time in front of the Casa Rosada to demand information about their sons and daughters who had been kidnapped. They are remembered to this day as the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo.
In times of cloth diapers, the mothers kept the ones their now disappeared children had worn and decided that they would wear them on their heads to recognize themselves in the crowd, becoming their national symbol.
With the restoration of democracy, in December 1983, President Raúl Alfonsín issued the Decree that would later trigger the well-known "THE JUNTAS TRIAL"
This was the first condemnation of State terrorism in Argentina, at the level of the Nuremberg trials, setting a precedent in the continent in view of the horrors experienced.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a recent history in the country, our FATHERS, MEN OF 60 YEARS OF AGE went through it, their generation includes the thousands of people who are with us and carry the physical and mental torture of what they suffered.
There are many movies that deal with the themes of these dates:
La noche de los lapices (1986)
La historia oficial (1985) (With an Oscar)
Buenos Aires viceversa (1996)
Argentina 1985 (2022) (With an Oscar nomination)
For those who are here and those who are no longer here, we ask for memory, truth and justice.

Good evening all!
I am trying my hand at modding after being inspired by all the fantastic modders out there in the community. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be playing my history challenge (or building or cc-shopping or just existing) and think, this would make a great mod: For example,  I wondered if there was a way that I could tweak the pregnancy system to allow a “cooldown” for 2-3 sim days after sims give birth to echo more realistic pregnancy experiences. Does it exist already? Possibly! But there is SO much out there and the history challenge is heavily story based - which means things can get really specific! Another example: a bedrest function for expecting or chronically ill sims. Again, it may already exist and it also may be so niche and (pointless) that no one else cares but maybe, just maybe, it scratches your historic itch as well!
Help me use this post as a running sticky note of helpful resources and if you’d be so kind, share in the comments a mod suggestion that you’d love to see enhance your historic gameplay, the “niche-ier” the better.
Please reblog if you’re a historical simblr and let’s get nostalgic.
I’ll be working on beefing up my resources page in the meantime so I can give credit to all you amazing folks as well as make wishlists <3

THE HISTORY OF THE CHAIRS TO BE USED BY QUEEN KATHERINE AND PRINCE RAINIER AT THE CORONATION
Tumblr media
BUCKINGSIMSHIRE, Windenburg (SNN) - - In another poignant nod to her father and grandfather, The Queen has chosen to reuse the Chairs of Estate made for each of them for her own Coronation when she is crowned at Westsimster Abbey. The chairs, reused for King George I and Queen Rowena, later The Queen Mother, are part of Her Majesty’s push for sustainability
As is tradition, St Leo’s Chair, also known as the Coronation Chair will be used for the moment of crowning at Westsimster Abbey. Made over 200 years ago from Baltic oak, this chair was first used at the Coronation of King Lester I.
Tumblr media
During the Coronation, Queen Katherine I will sit on the Chair of Estate created in 1941 for the Coronation of King Edward II. Chairs of Estate and the Throne Chairs are used at different points during the service. Throne Chairs are used in the early part of the service but also at one of the most historic moments of the Coronation, for the Homage and the Enthronement. While The Queen will sit in the Coronation Chair to be crowned, His Royal Highness will be seated in his Chair of Estate when the Archbishop of Calgary places the Crown on his head.
Throne Chairs, though, are based on a seventeenth century design which was, itself, inspired by Tudor chairs. They were made for the Coronation of King George I and Queen Rowena in 1992.The chairs are made of carved and gilded beechwood and covered in red silk damask. They have been reupholstered in crimson velvet.
Tumblr media
The Queen’s Chair of Estate now bears her Coat of Arms while His Royal Highness’ Chair has his own Coat of Arms on it. The cyphers on the backs, belonging to King George I and Queen Rowena, have now been removed and preserved in the Royal Collection.
