➥ a/n: originally was not going to start writing for this fandom as of yet but a lovely commenter of mine (didn’t tag them because I was unsure if they were alright with that) wanted to see some Trese fandom stories on my page. So here I go, do leave feedback, it’s always appreciated :)

The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the darkened streets of Manila. Alexandra Trese patrolled the city as she always did, vigilant against the supernatural threats that lurked in the shadows. On this particular night, her senses tingled with an unfamiliar presence, drawing her towards an old, abandoned mansion.

As she approached the mansion, Alexandra noticed an ethereal figure standing in the moonlight. It was a woman of captivating beauty, with long, flowing hair and eyes that sparkled like stars. Intrigued, Alexandra decided to investigate further, approaching the mysterious woman cautiously.

"Hello," Alexandra greeted with a hint of curiosity. "Are you lost?"

The woman turned to face Alexandra, a warm smile gracing her lips. "Oh, not at all," she replied, her voice soft and melodious. "I come here often to feel the night's embrace. It's quite comforting, don't you think?"

"I suppose it can be," Alexandra replied, intrigued by the woman's serene demeanor. "I'm Alexandra, by the way, Alexandra Trese."

"It's nice to meet your acquaintance, Alexandra Trese," the woman replied with a polite nod. "My father speaks highly of what you've done for the realm."

A flicker of surprise crossed Alexandra's face. "Your father? How does he know me?"

"He is the king of the vampire kingdom clan," the woman revealed, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "And I am Princess (Y/n) of the same kingdom."

Alexandra's eyes widened in astonishment as the revelation sank in. She had unknowingly been chatting with royalty, not just any royalty, but the princess of the vampire clan. Despite the revelation, (Y/n) didn't carry herself with an air of superiority; instead, she seemed genuinely interested in their conversation.

"I... I had no idea," Alexandra stammered, feeling a mix of embarrassment and awe. "I apologize if I seemed disrespectful."

"No need to apologize," (Y/n) reassured her with a gentle smile. "I prefer to be treated as any other person. Titles can be burdensome at times."

"You have a point," Alexandra agreed, feeling more at ease with (Y/n) now that the formalities were set aside. "It's just that meeting someone like you is quite extraordinary. Vampires are a rare sight in these parts, especially one of royal blood."

(Y/n) chuckled softly. "I suppose it's not every day that you encounter a vampire princess on the streets of Manila. But I find this city fascinating, and I often venture out of the castle to explore its hidden corners."

"I'm glad you find the city intriguing," Alexandra replied, a smile playing on her lips. "It's my duty to protect it, after all."

"I've heard stories about your bravery and your dedication to keeping this city safe," (Y/n) said, her admiration evident. "It's an honor to meet the woman who protects my father's realm."

The two continued to chat for hours, exchanging stories and learning about each other's worlds. Alexandra found herself drawn to (Y/n)'s genuine curiosity and kindness. The princess, in turn, was captivated by Alexandra's unwavering determination and sense of justice.

As the night wore on, (Y/n) expressed her desire to explore more of Manila's hidden gems, and Alexandra offered to show her around. Together, they wandered through the city's dark alleys and ancient temples, creating memories that would stay with them forever.

In that chance encounter, Alexandra Trese and Princess (Y/n) found an unexpected connection, one that transcended their different worlds. Little did they know that this meeting would be the beginning of an extraordinary journey, one filled with love, friendship, and the intertwining of their destinies in ways neither could have imagined.

The entrance to the vampire castle was a formidable sight, guarded by imposing sentinels with eyes that glowed like hot embers in the darkness. Alexandra took a deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead, as she was ushered inside by the stoic guards. The walls of the castle were adorned with ancient tapestries depicting the history of the vampire clan, and the corridors echoed with the whispers of centuries gone by.

Finally, Alexandra stood before the towering doors of the throne room, heart pounding loudly in her chest. She had faced countless supernatural threats, but none of them compared to the anxiety she felt now. Pushing the doors open, she stepped inside, her eyes meeting those of the vampire clan king - a regal figure seated upon a grand throne, exuding an aura of power and wisdom.

"Alexandra Trese," the king's voice was deep and resonant, carrying an air of authority. "What brings the city's protector to my domain?"

Respecting the customs of the supernatural world, Alexandra bowed respectfully before the king. "Your Majesty," she began, "I come before you with a request of utmost importance."

The king raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Alexandra's formality. "Speak, then. What is it that you seek?"

Taking a deep breath, Alexandra lifted her gaze and met the king's piercing eyes. "Your daughter, (Y/N),” she said, her voice steady despite the nerves. "I have developed feelings for her, feelings that go beyond mere admiration. I would like to ask for your permission to court her."

Silence filled the throne room as the vampire king studied Alexandra. His face was unreadable, and she couldn't help but feel a mix of hope and dread. Courtship between humans and vampires was rare and often frowned upon, but Alexandra couldn't deny what she felt for (Y/N).

At last, the king spoke, his voice measured. "You are the protector of this city, Alexandra. Your duty is to safeguard its inhabitants from the supernatural threats that lurk in the shadows. A relationship with my daughter could be seen as a conflict of interest."

Alexandra nodded, understanding the king's concerns. "I assure you, Your Majesty, that my duty to protect this city will never waver. My feelings for (Y/N) will not compromise my role as a protector."

The king observed Alexandra for a moment longer before a faint smile touched his lips. "Your devotion to your duty is evident, and it pleases me," he said. "But I must also consider my daughter's happiness. (Y/N) has spoken of you, and I can see that you hold a special place in her heart as well."

Hope surged within Alexandra as she listened to the king's words. "I would never do anything to bring harm to (Y/N),”she vowed. "I only wish to be with her, to cherish and protect her, just as I do for this city."

The king's expression softened, and he nodded thoughtfully. "Very well, Alexandra Trese. You have my permission to court my daughter, but know that if you betray her trust or put her in any danger, there will be consequences beyond your imagination."

"I understand, Your Majesty," Alexandra replied, feeling the weight of his words.

With the king's blessing, Alexandra felt a sense of relief and joy like she had never experienced before. She thanked the king sincerely before taking her leave from the castle, her heart light with hope for the future.

From that day on, Alexandra and (Y/N)’s courtship began discreetly, away from prying eyes. They would steal moments together in the shadows, exploring the city and each other's hearts. As their love deepened, Alexandra found herself not just enamored with the vampire princess's beauty and grace, but also enchanted by her kindness, intelligence, and compassion.

But as their romance blossomed, so did the challenges they faced. The supernatural world was not always forgiving, and there were those who opposed their relationship. Yet, Alexandra and (Y/N) stood together, facing every obstacle with unwavering determination and love.

In the heart of Manila's darkness, a forbidden love bloomed, defying the boundaries of their worlds. Alexandra Trese, the city's protector, and (Y/N), the vampire princess, found solace in each other's arms, embarking on a love story that would be etched into the city's supernatural history for all time.

More childhood lore from Trese Lite: Postcard Book 1!

So, here’s another one of my fav postcards from the book. The card shows young Basilio receiving a cup of chichirya (chips/junk food) from a man named Mang TengTeng, with Crispin happily crossing the street towards them while holding two bottles.

From context, Mang TengTeng seems to be a mangangalakal. In Philippines, this is someone who picks up junk like bottles, newspaper, cartons, and scrap metal to sell to the junk shop.

Anyway, the postcard had this message written on its back:

Dear Papa,

Mang TengTeng came by today. He brought some chichirya for us. After the Kambal finished their merienda, they rummaged through the scrap metal in the kariton. By the time I finished eating, they had crafted three different types of weapons. It really is in their nature to be destructive and wage war! I still doubt you and lolo made the right decision.

What I found interesting here, besides how adorable the Kambal are, was how they were able to create weapons incredibly fast and just from scraps. I love the idea that even though most of the weapons they wield now were made by the Metalero, they actually have the ability to craft their own. I like to imagine that the Kambal has their own workshop where they create various kinds of deadly experimental weapons as a hobby. I hope that we get to see them use their own crafted weapons in the future! They can definitely fight with martial arts if stripped off of their weapons but it’d be funny to see them insist on crafting a make-shift gun from junk just because they find it more fun to fight with weapons.

There’s also young Alex still voicing out how much she distrusts the two war gremlins and hates that they’re now her adopted baby brothers lol.

When All Is Well

I own all seven volumes of the Trese comics by Budjette Tan and KaJo Baldisimo, and I look forward to reading the new Verdugo special. Alexandra's brothers being introduced in Volume 3 (and given a 2-second cameo in the scene below) and their individual adventures being touched on in the Bloodlines comic inspired me to make this piece. It's really nice, for me, to imagine them together in a relaxed setting like this.

omg i just actually remembered a very old folktale in my country (the philippines) about a creature that lives in big trees just chilling about. a kapre, (name of the creature) are characterized by being huge, specimens that take an almost human form who, likes to watch and smoke cigars.

they're commonly known as gentle giants unless you disturb them, or cut it's tree down. you can only see it when it wants to be seen, and it loves interacting with humans.

if they befriend with a human, it will literally follow them for the rest of their life— and it's even more so when they fall in love with them. (for the most part, they're literally like silent protectors.)

for some reason, i keep imagining price as one and i just 😭

Also, I ended up going down a huge folklore and mythology rabbit hole after reading this, and stumbled on Trese! I'm not sure if you've ever seen it (if not, I honestly can't recommend it enough - I'm only on episode 3, but I'm already hooked. It's absolutely incredible!!!), but this is how the kapre are depicted in the Netflix adaptation:

It differs a bit from some of the art I've seen of them, but I've read that most of the the mythological creatures got a bit of a "modernisation" for the series. I can absolutely see this for Price, though. The cigar, the brawn. It is so perfect for him!!

he's an anemo character with a bow (and a 5-star. in my heart /hj) i haven't worked out his skills or talents yet, but it would have something to do with giving enemies bad luck

trese is an adep.tus in title. he considers li.yue his home after running away from monds.tadt in the arc.hon war. he didn't make a contract because he valued his freedom too much, so most of the other ade.pti (especially the Really older ones) aren't very fond of him

when i imagine him in the plot, he's something of a tutorial character like pai.mon. he's usually with the traveler i entertain thoughts of him and aether kissing because i am only gay because trese has always been moving around from place to place all the time. he just has a companion this time 👍

It’s on Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer Season 1. Other than wanting to watch it, I mainly started for research for an upcoming dnd session I’m running. Gotta be honest, had to look up the show you mentioned. I didn’t watch Filipino tv growing up, closest I’ve gotten to watching Filipino media is Trese, that Filipino anime that came out a bit ago on Netflix.

I don’t remember if I’ve asked this already, but where is Enid’s place to think when it comes to the city? Like how the Empire State Building tends to be a spot with a view for spiders to be alone.

Absolutely! Instead of bodyguards he probably would just have partners but he definitely would do this sort of thing. I always imagined that he would become like Ford except less closed off and with less Bill Cipher summoning.

Trese Family Headcanons

I randomly wanted to share some of my headcanons about the Trese family XD

It says in Bloodlines that Fr. Matt Trese had a “long and rebellious adolescence” that landed him in a seminary. It turned out ok though cus he found his calling and became a priest. 

Imagining Matt as an edgy rebellious teen led me to examine the Trese family and that’s how I got these HC’s! 

Carlos- Is the eldest so he probably had a lot of attention growing up, but also a lot of responsibility. I feel he wants to make his dad proud and if he has any issues, it has to do with the pressure of this. (Also I notice that despite being the eldest, he wasn’t the one to follow in their dad’s footsteps. That ended up being Alexandra, the youngest.) I feel Anton's death really affected him and is why he's such a vicious vigilante.

Rick- I HC that among all the Trese kids, Rick is closest to their lolo. They share similar interests and he ended up following in Alexander’s footsteps and became a professor of history and antiquities. Even physically, the two share similar traits. After the battle at the Balete Tree, Rick was the one to stay behind with his lolo while the other boys went to fight in the Underworld. 

Jimmy- After reading his story in Vol. 7, I could not help but HC that Jimmy is a mama’s boy XD Jimmy is the youngest of the boys, has a very playful and charming personality (even claims to be “a lover, not a fighter”), and resembles Anton the most. He mentioned in his narration that he promised his mom he’d quit smoking (though he still does). Idk but I instantly imagined that he's closest to Miranda and she always had a soft spot for him! 

Alexandra- Is the youngest and only living girl among the kids. Despite being the youngest, she was really more of her dad’s “heir” in the sense that she was the one who took up the mantle of Babaylan-Mandirigma. We see her as a young girl accompanying her dad to cases. She also has a whole prophecy about her. Similar to Carlos, I imagine she had a lot of attention from their parents growing up, especially their dad who she seems close to. 

And that leaves us with Matt. When I examine the Trese family, I can’t find anyone whom he would be close to (though to be fair, we haven’t met their other relatives yet!). Not that he was neglected or anything! I’m sure his parents loved their kids equally. It’s just that it can be hard when you stick out in your family and there’s no one who really understands you. 

Heck, even as a priest, Matt stands out in his family. Even though they all took different paths, everyone else is involved with Philippine mythology, spells, magic artifacts, and other things that the Church would consider “occult” or “pagan”. When Alexandra offers him one of their lolo’s artifacts for protection, Matt outright says that the Vatican “wouldn’t approve” of such items. Even as a well-adjusted adult, Matt stands out in his family. (And hey we can also think about what Matt’s colleageus think of his family given how the Church tends to view magic and witchcraft!) 

This all ties back to Matt having had a “long and rebellious adolescence”.  I guess when I try to examine their dynamics, I can understand why that was! 

Stumbled on a cyberpunk Trese fan art and now my mind is imagining a sort of Submas Trese AU with Elesa being the occult detective Trese like figure and Ingo and Emmet being the Kambal.

The fact that the Kambal wear tragedy and comedy masks only makes it all the more fitting.

Arthur having a badass occult detective for a girlfriend, basically a detective who uses black magic in order to solve paranormal crimes. Like do you know this Netflix show called Trese? I kinda wanna believe that she'd be his type of woman because you know, she's a detective and a magic user.

As someone who's one of those things and a huge fan of the other, I can imagine him being a huge fanboy over her.

It's giving JJK and at the same time just detective vibes and i'm here for it. The trailer was really good!

Since i haven't watched and cannot right now i won't put this into headcanons, sorry.

He is a big Agatha Christie reader, he's got the knowledge, so having a s/o who's into magic and at the same time some type of badass detective is refreshing for him.

FINALLY IVE BEEN WANTING TO SCREAM ABOUT HER!!! imagine the typical media representation of aswangs. i picture her as a manananggal - her body cut into half, big ass ugly wings (lol), claw-like nails, sharpened teeth, red eyes, and how can we forget about the long tongue. ohhh 😵‍💫) but she's the prettiest of them all. like ever.

and she gets confused because you're not scared when you saw her in this form. (well you are, a little bit, but it's squashed down by fascination)

i'd like to add. she wouldn't hurt you because she prefers to kill men 🤪 (yes i am inspired by jennifer's body and ang manananggal sa unit 23b)

Imagine, Bryce goes in to meet with The Viper Queen and she has this thick, beautiful accent that easily makes you wanna give up your soul. Cause how could something so soft and warm be bad for you?

Imagine The Under King’s conversations with Team Fuck You if he had a Creole accent!!!! The Bone Quarter echoing with his howls as they run and fight.

Listen… I love history and I love New Orleans history especially. If you’re gonna liken Lunathion after our real life Crescent City, then you have to give me the beautiful, rich cultures that built and maintain it!

(When CC is inevitably adapted, I hope they have the animators who animated Trese on Netflix do it. I can’t stop thinking about how perfect Crescent City would look done in that style.)

Book Of The Week No.36 Alternative Alamat: Myths and Legends From the Philippines Edited by Paolo Chikiamco Actual Rate: 8.5/10 Favorite Line: "To exist, one must be born into pain." Actual Review: Alternative Alamat is a folk fiction originally published in 2014 and republished 2022 by Tuttle Pub, internationally. The book is comprised with compendium of 12 Filipino myths and lores that are retold for modern readers, all edited by Paolo Chikiamco. I really appreciate the variety of stories that are in this compilation because it really represents the roots of us, Filipinos and how are culture expounds about love, life, death, heroism, divinity and impermanence. Thanks to #PaengPH2022, I was able to have my mind collected and settled for reading. I was reading this on my room with heavy rain and winds on the outside. I believe that's the best way you could ever feel and read folklores. Some of the stories have weak points, that is in my personal opinion, best believe that this book is created to initiate the mainstreaming of Filipino culture/stories. My favorites are "The Last Full Show", "The Alipin's Tale" & "Keeper of my Sky". 1.) I was mystified by Alexandra Trese's passion(?) for decrypting Filipino folklorian mysteries. I am now planning to watch Trese on Netflix. 2.) I love how the imagination of the writers really used the key occurences in our history to tweak it into some spin-off conspiracy. Like whi would have thought that Lapu-lapu, Bernardo Carpio and Maria Makiling would meet. 3.) I love how this is written in a very sci-fi/fantasy way. The prose narrative really took me somewhere and a sad tale is what I have got. :(((( The thing about this book is that each of these 12 stories somewhat stood on their own. I never really wanted to stop reading it even though you can read a story and just get back when you wanted because I cannot stop to be mystified by the creativity of these Filipino...
