ruffling their hair
“Hayden I swear-if Tracy is over any more we’re gonna need to charge her rent-“
“You’re saying this as if I don’t buy the house groceries or clean the apartment.” Tracy rolled her eyes, “and besides, I’m your best friend, Hayden’s your best friend-you’d think you would be more grateful to be around us-“
“Not when you’re attached at the lips 24/7”
“That sounds fun in my experience.”
“Not during movie night…making me third wheel in my own home…”
Hayden wrapped her arms around Theo, squeezing him tightly.
“Awwww, does the big bad carpenter miss me?” She cooed, lifting a hand to pinch his cheek.
“You’re the worst-“
“You won’t be saying that when you find out who I invited to movie night-“
“Please don’t tell me you invited Josh…I know he’s your dealer and does your tattoos for cheap but literally he’s a creep-“
“No, you just hate people-and besides, I have a class project I’m working on with a certain captain of the lacrosse team? Blue eyes? Shorter than you? Which is impressive-“ Theo scowled down at Hayden, before someone buzzed up, Hayden giving him a devilish smile.
“Alrighty, roll up your sleeves or something, look alluring-“ she stepped back and ruffled his hair, inspecting her work. Tracy walked over from where she’d buzzed the person up and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s waist.
“Some of your best work yet-“
“Sometimes I wonder what he’d do without me-“ someone knocked on the door.
“I’ll get it-“ Theo sighed, brushing past the two girls, messing up both their hair on the way there. He peeked through the peep hole, taking a deep breath, before opening the door.
Liam Dunbar looked at him, dumbstruck for a moment, mouth slightly ajar and eyebrows raised in surprise.
“Theo! Oh! I didn’t know you lived here-did I get the wrong address?”
“No!” Hayden sing songed behind Theo, “just my roommate! C’mon!” She reached over Theo to drag Liam in, “we can work on the project while Theo makes us food.”
“Is that ok?” Liam asked, looking at Theo, who just kinda gaped at him, trying to form words. Tracy slung her arm around Theo’s shoulder and patted his jaw lightly.
“Of course it is!” She shut the door behind them and ushered Theo to the kitchen area, pushing up his sleeves herself, before helping him prepare the food. Liam stood there for a moment, watching them, before shaking his head and heading over to the couch with Hayden.
-
Halfway through, Hayden excused herself to move to the kitchen, pulling theos sleeves down.
“What?” He hissed, trying to push them back up but her grip was surprisingly strong.
“You’re a distraction!” She whispered, moving them out of sight of Liam, “he keeps looking over at you!”
“I-really?” He grinned, moving to peek through the cutout in the wall.
“No!” Hayden pulled him back.
“Why not?”
“He’s a history nerd and I need to pass this class.” Theo deflated slightly, “don’t worry-you’ll get your Liam time during movie night.” She wiggled her brows and he threw his hands up, exasperated, before moving back to his work.
“Why are we friends again?”
“Because no one else will put up with me” she blew him a kiss and gave Tracy a quick peck before disappearing back into the living room.
“What a woman.” Tracy sighed, before sliding the chicken into the oven.
—
Hayden and Liam had managed to finish what they wanted in time for dinner, clearing the coffee table for the trays Theo brought out.
“You and your trays”
“I don’t want to deep clean the fucking rug again” Theo gave Hayden a pointed look before setting down Liam’s plate in front of him, “I didn’t know how much you wanted, so-“
“It’s perfect-I’m starved.” Liam grinned up at Theo and Theo couldn’t help but grin back. Hayden did a silent victory dance before lovingly taking her plate from Tracy with a kiss.
-
The couple ended up moving to Hayden’s room halfway through the movie and Theo turned up the volume.
“You’ll thank me later” he pulled his blanket tighter around him, trying to focus on the movie. He could practically feel Liam’s gaze on him, and it felt warm-comforting. He’d liked the lacrosse player for years, and it was starting to feel reciprocated.
When he turned to see Liam, the other man was still looking at him, dazedly. He noticed Theo looking back and dropped his eyes, cheeks tinting red. Theo could feel his own cheeks burn, but a smile tugged at his lips. It dropped when Liam turned to watch the movie again, his shoulders slumping, turning his attention back to the screaming woman on the television.
-
Hayden padded out softly as the credits started to roll, peeking over the couch to see Liam passed out on Theo’s shoulder; Theo looking down at him, fond smile on his face.
“Hey” she murmured, moving over to Theo.
“Hm?” He dragged his attention away from the sleeping man.
“How’re you?”
“Thank you.” He grinned, eyes creasing.
“I told you, I’ve got your best interests in mind.” She pressed a kiss to his forehead before scratching at his beard. “You need anything while I’m up?”
“No.”
“Alright,” she ruffled his hair, “best of luck kid” she gave him a wink.
“I’m older than you”
“Act like it then” she chuckled, before heading to her room, slipping it and joining Tracy, clad in a unicorn onesie, chewing on carrots and focused on an urban legends doc on her computer.
“Hey” she kissed her cheek, wrapping her arms around her waist.
“Hey” Tracy whispered, pausing the doc and setting her food down, “how’d it go?”
“They’ll be dating within the week, I guarantee it.”
“Wanna bet?”
Hayden giggled before pressing a soft kiss to her lips.

Summary: “So.” Theo purses his lips. “I have a problem, and a problem I would prefer to resolve as swiftly as possible. What say you to me tossing your disgraced ‘captain’s’ ass like a piece of trussed-up pig roast into the sea?”
Liam has the audacity to gape at him. “But—but—I can’t swim!”
“Then all the easier that will make the job,” Theo says without missing a beat.

Getting to Know You
I was tagged by @endwersed thank you so much! Hi!
Three Ships: Sterek is always up there, I'm in my Corsaac feels again since I'm rewatching S3, and I've been in a Trayden mood lately
First Ship: I think it was Joey and Pacey. I hadn't actually watched Dawson's Creek at the time. My mom had it on and I was really little and I don't remember what was happening, but I remember being like ... those two. The first one I remember having context for ahead of time was Quinn and Logan from Zoey 101.
Last Song: No More Sad Songs by Little Mix (without MGK)
Last Movie: I honestly can't remember. I don't watch movies as much anymore since I can't focus that long. Oh, wait, I remember! Clue.
Currently Reading: I read multiple books at a time. One thing on my bucket list is to read (almost) every Nancy Drew book, so I have some of those.
Currently Watching: I don't watch a lot of TV either, nothing new at least. I watch Friends every night. I'm rewatching TW (it's for science)
Last Thing I Wrote: I made an outline and started a fic about the Hales pre-fire that I'm excited about. It's very lighthearted and I think it will be a lot of fun. The last thing I completed was for an installment on the chimera pack (sans Theo, sorry Theo).
I'm never good at tagging anyone, so if y'all want to do this, I officially tag you!
