Presenting my final animation project in college. Transcend Game pt.2 basically tells us how mad Kaiba went in order to get to his final duel with the pharaoh, and I wanted to animate that! One of my teachers upon telling her the idea, told me to emphasize his madness to the full, so..I tried.. I had to simplify everyone's designes cause I kept messing it up all the time because AAA details..and time...

TVPaint for sketch. Paint Tool Sai for linearts (tons of tons of frames to lineart AAAAAA) and colors. Premiere for composition. After Effects..well..for the effects!

I need more appreciation for the Transcend Game manga! It’s drawn by Takahashi and it’s a short two chapter manga that takes place between the ending of the manga and the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Not many people know about it even though the story is in fact canon. The artstyle is absolutely stunning, especially the colored pages at the beginning. It also focuses on Kaiba and gives some insight on his part of the story💙

LRB but I'm replaying BG3 and Gale being on the knife's edge of Wholesome/"Dirty" is what makes him soo interesting to me. Like this is a man who, in two different versions of the same scene, can either sweetly and gently make love to your tav in a typical setting which transitions to a tasteful fade-to-black, or brings your tav's spirit along for a transcendent experience where he literally duplicates part of himself so he can have more parts to touch their parts in some crazy astral-soup sky world. And both are treated like valid expressions of his love!! Like the range they allowed him to express, he's not one or the other, he's both

So, we know that Asra, Nadia and Julian have their marks on the heart, forehead (third eye) and throat respectively. Those coincide with the position of some chakras... so I wondered: where would Lucio, Portia and Muriel have their marks? There are four chakras left: crown (transcendence, spiritual connection), solar plexus (will, confidence and self-esteem), sacral (emotions, pleasure, sexuality and creativity), and root (survival, security and stability). Taking this into account, I'm pretty confident Lucio's chakra would be the sacral one, Portia's would be the solar plexus one, and Muriel the root one. So here you have my interpretation!

Susato Mikotoba is a fucking terrifying force of nature. Girlboss doesn't cut it. She sees it all through to the end. She tosses men twice her size, she shoots her name in arrows in the wall of her house, she says she could take down a serial killer with her bare hands, she crossdresses to stand in court, and when she realizes she's going to help take down the British judiciary...she doesn't hesitate for a minute.

Sure, she has a breakdown once, but wouldn't we all if we think we failed at the role we trained our whole lives for?

She's not fragile. She's not weak. She's a tsunami in a teenage girl's body. And she's the fucking best because of it.

Ya'know.

I can handle the ending of DM if I genuinely see it as a tragic ending. Like yeah, it is supposed to be bittersweet. Atem is dead and has been for years and so he gets to rest now. Bah.

But I think about why Atem did it. Why he felt he had to, why everyone didn't want it to happen but understood that it "had" to happen, or if Atem wanted it to happen or course they'd support him, and they did.

And sometimes I think about Atem's insecurities, I think about him feeling like a burden on Yugi's life, after he's changed enough from his supposed introduction where he's more than just other Yugi now. He's his own person and his partial existence has caused people so much grief. I think about, even with Yugi's reassurance that he belongs in their friend group, that he's not a burden on his life and greatly cherishes his company. Atem is still dead, Yugi is still mostly the only one that can see him without needing to take Yugi's body for a spin. I think of Atem's inspirational, motivational speech about Yugi being the only Yugi that's needed. That he didn't need anyone else than himself.

And I think about how Atem either truly believes that's Yugi's issue with him leaving

Or

Atem,,, couldn't think of anything to say, the best he can do is say that, even tho they'll part, in the metaphysical sense, they'll never truly rid of each other, in any of the ways that are positive to Atem.

I think about Atem still blaming himself for most things as he walks through that door.

I think about the actual tragedy in the fact that Atem is dead, and never got to grow up. Not really.

That is too say I cannot handle the ending at all.
