๐โ๏ผโธบโat.tumblr.com links remover
[image description: a screenshot of an online tool that saysย โtumblr - remove at.tumblr.com on link sharesโ. The prompt label says โPaste in the Tumblr link you copiedโ, and includes two examples of such links. It finishes with a button that says โDo the thing pleaseโ, with all the words capitalized, and a click icon. end IDโ]
๐ข As of 2023/03/24, Tumblr are no longer enforcing at.tumblr.com links when you copy a link from the mobile/app. [Read More]
When a post link is copied via mobile, it can appear as the following variants:
๐โใโat.tumblr.comโ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐}โ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐_๐๐๐ก๐}โ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐_๐๐}
๐โใโat.tumblr.comโ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐}โ/โ{๐๐๐๐_๐๐}โ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐_๐๐}
๐โใโtumblr.comโ/โ{๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐}โ/โpostโ/โ{๐๐๐๐_๐๐}
I made a tool that converts them back to their original permalinks so when theyโre shared on social media, the previews should show again.

You can bookmark this on your phone or your desktop browser so you can quickly access it when you need it!
Currently, itโs not known which at.tumblr.com link format will proc under what circumstances. If it has a ๐๐๐๐_๐๐ in it, thatโs good news. If it doesnโt, we need to ask a URL un-shortener service to follow the redirects for us. But this tool should accommodate any format regardless. Itโs not perfect, but I hope it helps.
Read more about at.tumblr.com tracking links [here].
If you run into any issues, you can report them to me via Discord or Tumblr ask.

where did you learn about tracking links? iโd like to read more about them but the search results iโm getting are mostly unrelated
[context]
ohh picked it up here and there! mostly my friend @liminalweirdo reblogs a lot of stuff in regards to surveillance and i reblog a lot of internet privacy stuff on my main blog @thethirteenthcrow as well.
here's some posts i could find in a quick search:
tracking links on tumblr
firefox without-site-tracking option
anti-chrome on link-tracking (for the love of god switch to firefox if you haven't already)
small side-step on what companies all do with data and ads
and to close off, firefox extensions that i use!
hope this helped! if you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask (and if you can, send them to my main blog!). stay safe! xoxo

How I'm bypassing tumblr's new tracking bullshit
On mobile, I tried to remove Tumblr's URL tracking bullshit from a link -- as per @pizza-and-ramen's post -- but it wasn't working anymore.
Came to realize that Tumblr was generating a new "post ID" every time I tried to copy the link.
So here's what I did.
Open a web browser ๐
Search the URL of the blog you're linking from ๐
Click on their page in the results โ๏ธ
Deny any prompting to open in the app. ๐ซ Stay in the browser
Search for the post in question ๐
Click the meatball menu (โขโขโข) on the post and select "Permalink" โ
Check the URL in your URL bar for any other tracking crap such as /amp and remove it โ๏ธ
Copy the new URL now in your URL bar ๐
Safely paste to your heart's content ๐

How to Track Your Marketing Links Know the viability of your marketing endeavors by tracking your marketing links!

How do you mean tracking after the "?"
certain websites like twitter use a tracking link when you copy a link to a post. this is for them to make connections as to who sends what to who and it sucks! personally i think this is a breach of privacy. firefox battles this by giving you the opportunity to copy links without web tracking.
explanation under the cut!
the tracking part of a link is easily identifiable: everything after a ? in the link is a tracking link. if we look at the twitter post:
this part is the actual link to the post. it goes from x dot com, the website, to f1nnishgurl, the user, to status and a bunch of numbers which is the post.
this part is tracking. it identifies who you are and from what account/ip adress/location/time/whatever you copied this post (dw i don't think it's possible for me to find it based on the link alone, it's more for the website itself). and then for the website to link it to me and anyone else who clicks on your link in particular.
you can read this article for more about it (don't worry, no link-tracking happening here). this website promotes link-tracking. but even as i read their happy 'why tracking links are totally cool!' posts, all it does is make me shiver. it's getting very surveillance-state-y if twitter can figure out who posts what links where and to whom, if you ask me. but i'm also big on pirating and vpn's and other stay-away-from-my-data related stuff, so i might be a bit more adverse to it than other people.
in general though, for your own internet privacy and that of others, whenever you copy a link simply remove anything behind the ?.
exceptions on this can be youtube videos that use stuff behind the ? as an identifier to what video you're linking to. be sure to read the link and figure out if the stuff behind the ? is necessary or not. other websites might use '?source=share' as an identifier which, to me, seems more analytical on how stuff gets shared than identifing of who shares what.
so, yeah, make your own choices but i'd recommend removing what isn't necessary to get your stuff shared! hope this helps <3
