I was walking around Roppongi when I passed by a familiar place!
Tumblr media
It’s where the Roppongi Battle of Ashes happened (or at least, was inspired by)!
Tumblr media
If you guys would like to look it up, it’s Roppongi West Park.

TLDR: I’ve been thinking a lot about ErrorInkMare and I wanted to braindump some of my logistics. None of it is canon, but more based off of retained tropes I’ve absorbed from the fandom overtime. Like Nightmare alone has very different traits depending on who you ask. I just threw some ideas out there is all. Don’t take any of this too seriously. :)
I love ErrInkMare for the sole fact that it’s a dumpster-fire of a ship. Like:
Ink Sans -> literally cannot feel genuine emotion. purely thoughts, which he can make logical responses to with his fake emotion (vials of paint)
Error Sans -> haphephobia which is the fear of touch (I think), where his body will violently glitch out which I would presume is painful or uncomfortable for him to experience against his will.
Nightmare -> not sure where I heard this but in some versions he can’t experience positive emotion so depending on how you view love as an emotion he can only experience the negative feelings that comes with love like pain and loneliness? Or he can’t experience the emotion of love altogether.
Depending on your definition of fanon, since there are an infinite amount of AUs out there with questionable canons all together…
My only conclusion is that leaves us with an aroace, a panromantic demisexual, and a pansexual cupioromantic… at best. (At worst, probably all of them are aro/ace and hate each other which doesn’t give the ship any leverage.)
So this ship only really realistically works under the conditions that it’s a poly queer-platonic type relationship, and Error would be ok with being in a lithromantic relationship where the other two can’t experience romance towards him back.
Likewise, Ink and Nightmare are unable to touch Error. Ink doesn’t even experience sexual attraction. And my headcannon only works of Nightmare is able to experience sexual attraction, which is very possible he doesn’t. Similar situation for Error.
So how would this ship even work then?
Nightmare might like having a sexual relationship with Ink since it doesn’t need to involve romantic feelings or attraction, just the feeling of touch can be more inviting than nothingness. Having intimacy, or the illusion of it, with someone is probably the closest he can get to having a romantic relationship.
So sometimes he has intercourse with Ink, who can’t reciprocate or feel anything for that matter but maybe finds peace of mind that it puts Nightmare at ease a bit.
**Maybe Ink even takes negative emotion vials to give Nightmare something that will bring him joy. Nightmare can feed off the negative emotion of others right? Maybe that’s the one time Nightmare experiences happiness anymore.
Error might have romantic attraction to both of them, very aware that he has a type and it’s romantically unavailable people. They go on dates anyways and NM/Ink will do romantic acts (without touch) for Error because it makes him happy: Gifts, spending time together, words of affirmation, and some acts of service.
Error *can* create mass amounts of destruction, which causes negative emotion, which satisfies Nightmare who can praise Error.
So the whole ship is together for the point of being mutually beneficial. Nightmare gets a good deal from it. Error gets to have a relationship with his crushes who don’t reciprocate but don’t reject his feelings either. Ink… well… I can’t think of a reason it benefits Ink besides him trying a new relationship for the hell of it. Maybe for the experience or maybe because with the dynamic it feels less forced than maybe previous ones. Maybe he wants to get closer to his friends this way, since him and Nightmare have a more sexual platonic relationship anyways.
This ship, made with tender love and care, is not meant for the wary heart.
This is a hill you die on. Features:
*barley working logistics (more technical than a home depo)
*enough angst for several lifetimes
*enemies to lovers x3 plus
* what if error and ink are enemies (protector and destroyer) but comes to a truce through their mutual enemy nightmare. And they form a truce because dream is the real villain to them all, none of them really pursuing true happiness for everyone. And the boyfriends aren’t really part of the star sanses but they aren’t bad guys either, they’re just nightmare’s boyfriends.
*And optionally, depending on your version of fanon, nightmare and ink learn that error has two brothers, geno and fresh. And they aren’t bad guys or star sanses either but they’re in laws with a really stupid dynamic. The list can go on after that depending on who you ship with who.
*one person falls apart it all falls apart
*but despite that it can be cute like Error wants to go on a date with Nightmare and Nightmare gets him chocolate and Error is just taken aback with the gesture and falls harder in love with him which makes Nightmare a little sick with all the positive emotion but he selflessly sucks it up.
*like the appeal is that it’s imperfect. It’s delicate.
*Error needs to be in love with both so they can both balance between his in unrequited love but genuine care. Nightmare gets sick at positive emotion but at least he feels it while Ink can’t feel it at all but sure as hell can act it out for him. They both care for Error but not in a romantic way is what I’m getting at.
*Nightmare gets what he wants from both sides. Genuine emotion from Error and a fabricated selfless effort from Ink.
*these two in turn makes the exchange interesting for Ink.
Ok rant over.

TR SPOILER!
warning: braindump
Whos the trigger in TR?
My theory is that there are two triggers and we know this is possible, because Naoto and Mikey were Takemitchi triggers.
The first trigger might have been Wakasa. There’s a possibility that Mikey died due to gang war with the black dragons. BD were notorious and ruling the delinquent world comes with a lot of unwanted attention. So just like how Izana got to Mikey with Emma, I wouldn’t be surprised someone tried to get to Shinichiro with Mikey.
This then would explain why Shinichiro decided to disband Black Dragons during the height of their glorious period ruling the delinquent world. Due to shock in Takeomi’s face I doubt he’d be a trigger just because he’s in the bonten arc.
Tumblr media
Wakasa being the trigger would make sense in this scenario. Sanzu was too young to understand how grave the situation was and Wakasa was close enough to Shinichiro to have the motivation to save Mikey. — Which then would make sense that it was him who explained everything to Mikey right after Toman was disbanded.
Second trigger is definitely Sanzu. I explained it before but his manga panel solidified my theory:
Tumblr media
Side note: I think the dark impulses arouse after all those time skips... the way Mikey speaks of his memories as if they’re blank or something is missing suggests how Takemitchi feels whenever he timeleaps. This would explain why Mikey said his dark impulses were born out of love — Shinichiro tried to save him in every timeline.
I think the first motivation for Shinichiro to save Mikey was from gang wars and the black dragons, but due to all those time-leaps this messed up Mikey mentally and left him emotionally vulnerable in a way Shin didn’t anticipate which led to the Mikey scaring Sanzu incident. Senju lying was a mere trigger for Sanzu to become the second trigger for Shinichiro to save him from the dark impulses

When do you think Tenjiku was formed? Also how old were the haitani brothers when they were in juvie in your opinion? I thought it was after they killed that gang leader but ran had brown hair in juvie so it must be after that and they seem to already have established themselves in roppongi
Like I’m really curious about what got them in juvie I wish wakui will give us more background about the s62 😭
Hey anon!! Please accept my apologies for answering an ask from 2022 in 2023...... Nonetheless, I hope that the new year has started off splendidly for you!!
Tenjiku's Timeline & Formation
I think Tenjiku started on 3 levels: firstly in the orphanage between Izana and Kakucho when they were kids, though it's a really idealised version and probably something of a fantasy at that point. The second level is when Izana met the S-62 and they probably had a hunch they will all be in a gang together under Izana. Third is when Tenjiku officially formed and began operations.
The second level, which I consider the 'ideation' stage of Tenjiku, was in 2001 when they met in juvie (Chapter 139). That's when the S-62 were 13-14, and Kakucho was 10 (though he probably wasn't really involved then).
The third level, the official launch of Tenjiku, was mentioned to be 'new' relative to year 2006, and based on this interaction between Izana and Kisaki (who was said to have a hand in forming Tenjiku's operations) in Chapter 121...
Tumblr media
...we can tell that Tenjiku had already been formed by 2006 (because of the uniform that Izana was already wearing), but haven't put their plans in full motion yet.
So putting all of these together (along with the Haitanis being seemingly unaffiliated as of the Valhalla arc which was October 2005), I think I can safely say that Tenjiku started as a smaller gang (with only Izana and Kakucho and some of their other guys) in 2005ish (or earlier), but only really started to build itself up in 2006 (after Kisaki's banishment from Toman at the start of January). I'm thinking something along this...
2001: Izana meets the S-62 in juvie, they all have talks about ruling Tokyo as a gang / criminal syndicate.
Before 2006: Izana is released from juvie, he and Kakucho start Tenjiku with their guys.
Early January 2006: Kisaki meets with Izana to scheme and advise how he should operate Tenjiku. Izana sends Kakucho to round up the Haitani Brothers (and presumably Mocchi and Mucho) to join their gang. I think Izana himself got Shion to join because it would've been an easy deal with their BD relationship.
Late January 2006: Tenjiku launches their attacks on Toman
22 February 2006: Kanto Incident (Toman vs Tenjiku). Izana's death and the disbandment of Tenjiku.
Haitani Brothers' Juvie Stint
As mentioned, they probably entered in 2001 (when Ran was 14, and Rindo was 13). I personally think that they entered shortly after their fight with the Max Maniacs (i.e. the Roppongi Incident), because that's a serious crime they committed. The Max Maniac VP ended up in the hospital, which was likely what led to the Haitani Brothers' arrest.
I think Ran's hair is brown in the flashback because it got shaved, so his natural hair colour (which is dark) grew out a little then! They were also already out by 2003, because Mitsuya spotted them out and about in the Azabu Juban Festival (which in real-life, typically occurs in late-August) then. So they didn't spend that much time (around 2 years) in the can.
According to this twitter thread by RanHaruchiyo, which is a summary/translation of an interview with Wakui-sensei, we were supposed to get a lot more Haitani backstory. Basically, Ran was a low-ranking member of the 'Rokusei Community' which was controlled by the Max Maniacs, and Ran stole money from their leaders, which was what sparked the Roppongi Battle of the Ashes which led to the Haitani's rise. (Unfortunately, the original interview is no longer available.... I will try to dig around and find some captures of it to get a better idea of what Wakui said in the inteview!!)

How do you think Tenjiku boys smell like?❤️
(I don't know if they have asked you that before I am sorry😭)
AFJGFFJKJHGF No anon I don’t think I’ve been asked this before but this sure is fun!! This is totally in the realm of personal HCs though, and not ‘romantic’ at all 😂
Izana: I think he’d be rather scentless, with the strongest smell just coming from whatever laundry detergent he uses. But when Shin was alive he probably gave him some generic body spray he (Shin) was using himself, so Izana smelled like that at some point in time as a pre-teen. I think he may have used some cologne during his BD days, judging by his style then.
Kakucho: I genuinely think he just smells like sweat. Like it doesn’t necessarily stink, but it just smells like…. sweat/dried sweat, y’know? Word of god says that he’s training and fighting all day all night, so don’t tell me he isn’t a sweaty guy…… May also just smell like deodorant if he’s feeling fancy heading to town with the gang. Kakucho’s always felt like a bare minimum kind of guy when it comes to personal grooming/appearances to me, and he probably doesn’t want to be the kind of guy with a distinctive scent.
Mocchi: Smells like a yakiniku / BBQ or Chinese restaurant—after CB3 I’m inclined to think he goes pretty often, so his clothes are probably soaked in the scent. And he’ll probably just leave it as that, so deal with it!!
Ran & Rindō: High-end cologne brand, cuz they’re the charismatic brothers of Roppongi, duh!! Ran would be more particular about the scent, probably searching far and wide for the perfect one. Rindou is less picky so he’s always done first and waiting for Ran to finish waxing lyrical about the perfumes he’s trying. I think Ran would go for lighter ‘cleaner’ scents while Rindou would prefer something stronger. Both use it moderately though, like just enough to be noticeable if someone gets pretty close.
Mucho: Something very faint but ‘robust’, like a leather jacket. Will likely use cologne when he’s feeling fancy but will be considerate about the smell and keep it faint and light. As for what kind of scent—honestly, a classic old guy cologne… He probably wants to smell like a Yakuza boss…
Shion: Honestly though it doesn’t matter what anyone else smells like cuz you’ll only ever able to smell Shion…..this guy is OVERPOWERING. And he uses the douchebag male scent too, not really cuz he’s one but because that’s just what he thinks smells cool and badass. Also, Peh-yan might use the same scent. Just saying.
Idk how much y’all agree but here it is!! My HCs on how they smell like, at the point of Tenjiku at least!! Thank you for this super fun ask Anon!!

RINDOU’S HEROIC/FAILURE STORY!!!
Actually, I have a different translation/interpretation of it than Mina (@/taiyakiboi).
Here’s a part of a raw scan of Rindou’s profile from @/haitani_realove
Tumblr media
My translation may be a little iffy, but the story is that shortly after they met, Kakucho made a date with Rindou to train. Rindou thought they’d be having a challenge at the gym to see who can benchpress harder, so he went to meet him all hyped up. However, they ended up at a Yakuza office and were suddenly throwing hands, and he followed Kakucho (who seemed prepared to be killed) on a rampage. He’ll never train with Kakucho again.
This is what I got from the raw. The story most definitely involved a ‘Yakuza Office’ lmao. (Of course, please let me know if I’ve misinterpreted anything.)
I’ll wait till I get the full scans before uploading my attempts at full-profile translations!
(Apparently dangerous tough guy shit like that is Kakucho’s idea of training?? MY BOY YOU WERE WHAT, A PRE-TEEN WHEN THIS HAPPENED??
That said, it seems that even Rindou is afraid of Yakuza, so could it be that he and Ran are NOT from Yakuza backgrounds? I suppose they still could be, and Rindou just simply wanted to avoid messing around with other Yakuza.)
Edit: Many, MANY thanks to @gold-pavilion for double-checking this!! If you haven’t followed his blog yet, you HAVE to. Expert-level translation and analysis, explained in a really clear and logical way!!

Hello!!If its not too much. What types of food do you think Tenjiku boys will like ?Unlike Mochi and Kakucho(kinda) we know nothing about their preference in foods or their favorite food etc.😔
Hey Anon! Omg Fave Food is such a cute aspect to think about for them! You're right, unfortunately Wakui-sensei hasn't granted us with this knowledge yet, but there are a couple of clues in the CB3, so we can make some assumptions.
Without further ado, here are mine, though I'd say it's more of 'food they eat a lot / like', rather than a superlative 'favourite'!
Izana: Spicy food. Izana's pretty twisted so I can somehow see him liking the zing of the spice. Makes him feel alive...
Kakucho: Pretty much enjoys everything, but may eat a lot of meat and tofu for the protein. I can see him being pretty particular about nutrition, which was why he picked up cooking as a hobby.
Ran: According to CB3, he likes mont blancs, so I see him favoring expensive western desserts.
Rindou: Protein shakes. Unlike Kakucho, he's too lazy to prepare his own meals, so he's going for the shortcut.
Mocchi: It's there in the book: corn! I can see him liking lots of meat and barbeque too.
Mucho: Coffee and cafe food. His dream is to run a cafe, so he must like the kind of beverages and food they serve. (I must also highlight that CB3 uses 喫茶店 (kissaten) for the kind of cafe he wants to run. Kissatens are specifically a kind of tearoom / coffeeshop in Japan that serves as a quiet place for its patrons to chill at.)
Shion: Food at casual yōshoku dining places, like Saizeriya, Royal Host, Denny's, or (if he's stolen enough money) Hard Rock Cafe. I don't think he's particular about food though!
These are practically in 'fic' territory, because someone's favourite food can be totally different from what you'd expect from their personality. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy what I had in mind about them!

Hello Yoko , What type of girls do you think the guys from Tenjuku like, as well as Hanme and Kisaki, and which girls on the contrary repel them
Hello Anon!!
Hmmm, this is a hard question for me to answer and I'm not sure if you'll like my reply, cuz it'll be in no way helpful or specific 😅
For the most part, I don't think they have any hard, specific 'type' of girls they're attracted to or repelled by, as I think they'll probably consider the whole package. In most cases, they'll probably just see or meet a girl they find attractive and that's it. Same for the opposite.
For some of them, they probably have a certain look they tend to like, but won't fall for the girl just because she has that look. They won't dismiss a girl just because she doesn't either. Again, it's down to the whole deal.
That said, here's my attempt at this, off the top of my head. Do know that I really think their 'types' are totally open to interpretation. (A part of me also feels that Wakui didn't want to include this in the character book for a reason!)
IZANA, HANMA, SANZU: Truly have no type at all. Izana and Hanma are complex and perceptive characters who I think understand that people are multi-faceted beings, so they rather not pigeonhole them into 'types' or 'categories'. How they feel about someone can be a total wildcard, IMO. If they ever want a quick, non-commital thing, they'd probably choose someone with a "hmm, that will do" kind of attitude, if you get what I mean. As for Sanzu, I think he's simply disinterested, so he doesn't really give any thought to the kind of girls (or even people) he'd like. (Well, for that matter I think Izana and Hanma don't really think about that either, actually.)
RAN: Doesn't really have a type either, like Izana and Hanma. Whether he likes a girl or not is on a case-by-case basis, and I think he's been attracted to many different kinds of girls before. Considering how important appearance is to him though, he'll probably be turned off by someone who doesn't present themselves well. From his comment about how he admired Izana and Kakucho, I get the feeling that he'll also respect someone with dignity, whatever that means.
KAKUCHO, RINDOU: Pretty basic of them, but probably the 'nice girl next door' type. For Kakucho, it's mostly because he doesn't have much experience with girls, so he's mostly just guessing that as a sincere sort of guy, he'd want a sincere sort of girl too. Rindou is probably also used to seeing many hot, 'party/club' type of girls throw themselves at his feet for his reputation and money, but probably just wants someone who's sincere and will like him for who he is. (I say this because Wakui's ranked him one of the most desirable Tenjiku guys actually.) Kakucho is said to dislike weaklings in CB3, so he probably dislikes girls who whine and complain a lot. I can see Rindou really disliking two-faced hypocrites for some reason, or be turned off by girls with a temper (after his bad experience with grouchy Ran...)
MUCHO: Mucho seems to hold some traditional values and can be quite austere, so I can see him preferring the yamato nadeshiko type of girl. At the same time, I can also totally see him being attracted to a cool, composed sukeban (female gang leader). Basically, I think his type is someone wise and dignified, or someone he can relate to. Conversely, he'll probably have a hard time warning up to the ditzy, make-a-fool-of-themselves kind of girls.
MOCCHI, MADARAME: They're simple guys who like girls they think are 'conventionally' pretty. Or rather, they'd just like girls who possess conventionally attractive features, like an hourglass swimsuit model body, or a certain style of makeup. Mocchi is more discerning with his tastes, while for Shion it doesn't really matter if the whole ensemble isn't actually attractive. (Fun fact, I also headcanon that none of the Tenjiku guys actually find the girls that Shion likes attractive LOL). Both guys will also dislike overbearing, naggy girls. Reminds them too much of their mothers.
KISAKI: Canonically, he is dead set on Hina so I don't think he'll even consider any other girl. I'm pretty sure though he absolutely loathes the kind of superficial girls who only care about looks and popularity.
So there you have it!

Hi, Yoko, do you think if the guys from Tenjuku had a chance to leave the underworld, they would have done it?How do you see the future of the characters outside the life of gopnik? Who could they be by profession or what would they devote their lives to?
Hi Anon!! Hmmm honestly speaking, aside from Mucho, I don't think any of them will want to leave the underworld.
Ran & Rindou: May have aspirations to not be a career criminal (i.e. becoming a club owner, in the entertainment industry) but I can totally see them still maintaining ties to help them achieve these aspirations.
Mocchi: Canonically wants to be a Yakuza boss so no, he won't leave.
Shion: Seems to enjoy the power trip of being in a gang, and also he was happy to be named one of the 'most vicious', so he will likely continue with the gang life.
Kakucho will just follow Izana wherever he goes, and Izana was hell-bent on conquering the underworld at eighteen so I think Izana was also set on the path of being a criminal boss.
Mucho will also likely be a criminal for a good chunk of his youth, but I can see him wanting to become a civilian (and fulfil his dream of running a café) in his later years.

So tr popularity poll came out and I was wondering if you can translate what’s written under it (at least the haitanis) if it’s not gonna trouble you ofc. I tried using google and it’s not making a lot of sense😭
(Sorry if I came across as rude this is my first time requesting and I’m nervous and english isn’t my first language 😭)
Hey anon don’t worry this doesn’t sound rude at all!! ❤️❤️ Btw, this isn’t the official TR character popularity poll. It’s conducted by Vivi (a fashion magazine)—though, Vivi shares the same publisher as TR (Kodansha). This may also give us some idea of what to expect in the upcoming official one!
I’ll do the Haitani’s and Izana’s only if you don’t mind! The comments below each profile are selected fan comments, btw!
3rd Place: Haitani Ran (2,062 votes)
Tumblr media
“His face is gorgeous! A beauty and an ikemen, a great guy! Like Paris Fashion Week.”
“His mysterious sex appeal is leaking profusely.”
“He thinks for his brother. He may go overboard in some ways, but it seems that he’ll stake his life for his brother Rindou!”
8th Place: Haitani Rindou (1,023 votes)
Tumblr media
“His droopy eyes and angled brows are hot! Joint-locking techniques are his specialty and that’s super strong!”
“It’s cute that he calls his brother ‘aniki’ when they’re outside, but ‘nii-chan’ when it’s just them.”
11th Place: Kurokawa Izana (762 votes)
Tumblr media
“I’m curious about his mother! Anyway, I want him to be happy!!”
“His strength as Tenjiku’s top is also attractive, but some way or another, he holds Kakucho dear to him, so he’s really kind at heart.”
Translation Notes:
Yeah, the comments are quite slangy so I can see why Google translate doesn’t make sense!
Some of them, when translated literally, sounds awkward so I took the liberty in the translation to make it flow nicer (while retaining the essence) as much as I can!
(Ran) Ikemen = good-looking guy, but there’s some nuance to this and it’s such a staple term, so I didn’t translate this.
…and to all these comments I say: SAME!!!
It’s hilarious and yet no surprise that the Haitani’s, especially Ran, are beating substantial plot-relevant characters simply because they’re hot 😂

So I don’t see anyone talking about this (ran is a softy😭) and it was translated by google so I was wondering how accurate it is or is it even in the book (since I haven’t seen anyone talk about it)
If you don’t mind of course I know how busy you are so if you can’t that’s fine
Hi Anon!! Yeah Ran can be a softie to people likes, though I think he's pretty selective in that area 😄
Yeah, this section is in CB3, under the 'その後' / 'Thereafter' section! I think people don't talk about it much because it's basically just a recap of what's happened in the manga, so there aren't any 'juicy' new tidbits.
(So don’t worry, it’s not too much trouble ‘cuz it’s already been sitting in my CB3 translation WIPs. I’m so sorry for the delay, y’all!)
Well, so the Google Image Translation is..... off, that's what I'll say. ('Omae et al.' I'M WHEEZING...) Anyway, here’s how I translated it:
Tumblr media
For reference, here it is in original Japanese:
Tumblr media
I’ve highlighted in yellow the word ‘憧れて’, which directly translates to ‘long for’, but is really more used in the context of deep respect and admiration. So, in this case, we can say that Ran really looked up to Izana and Kakucho and maybe even aspired to be like them (which is probably why he said ‘I’ll see to it closely, the way you guys lived’).
So, unfortunately for the IzaRan shippers, it isn’t romantic. 😅
On this note, I’ve always wondered about the meaning behind Ran’s line in this (about seeing through Izana / Kakucho’s way of living), and this CB3 segment gave me more context by highlighting that Ran admired them precisely because he’s lived through the delinquent world as well.
It’s still pretty vague about what part of their way of living he admired precisely, though. Their bond and loyalty? Their steadfastness towards the Tenjiku goal? The Tenjiku goal itself? Or all of these, in spite of how terrible the delinquent world is?
CB3 states that Kakucho is the person Ran respects (it only mentions Kakucho, not Izana). Kakucho’s top defining qualities are his loyalty to Izana, his strength, and that he’s actually honorable and morally upright. Therefore, Ran’s line implies that he aspires towards at least one of these traits. Well, Ran already has a strong bond and loyalty to Rindou so he’s not lacking in that. As for strength, the S-62 and Izana are already notably strong fighters in their own right, so it’s not necessary that Ran should look towards Kakucho for that. (Besides, Ran doesn’t strike me as the type to care much about physical strength anyway.)
The most likely quality he admires then is Kakucho’s steadfast honor. Ran’s craftiness and underhanded tactics are one of his (and his brother’s) trademarks, so he’s well aware that’s the kind of person he is. I’m taking that he deeply respects that Kakucho is still righteous at heart despite all the horrible things that gangsters must do to survive. I don’t think Ran necessarily strives to renounce his scummy ways immediately and be a ‘good’ person though (not at this point in his life, at least). I think it’s more like he acknowledges it’s a special thing, and probably a part of him wonders if he too can live like that. But that’s also a start, I suppose!
Wow, this turned out to be more of a meta post than I expected. 😅 I hope this clears things up for you, Anon!

Do you think kakucho had a drastic change of personality once he became an adult/ bonten member ?? If so, what do you think exactly changed about him?? And do you see him indulging himself in drugs and the sex industry??
OOOH ANON I LOVE THIS QUESTION!
I won't say that Kakucho had a drastic change of personality, but more like it's been getting grimmer and darker ever since his teens/Kanto Incident. By adulthood in all timelines, he's grown accustomed to crime and murder and seemed to be fully immersed in syndicate life. I feel that he's also simply gotten more jaded and stoic as an adult. He's probably also buried any idealistic notions of honour and value and kindness--I won't say that he lost it though, but more like 'forgot' / 'tucked' them away with everything he had to do.
However, he definitely won't be the trigger-happy kill-on-a-whim type. I also see him still being a fair leader to his men and will look out for them. He'll be ruthless with punishments though.
(Even in the FutureIzana!Timeline, he's grown into a hardened, stone cold hitman, and I think it's ever since the Kanto Incident (the version where Tenjiku won that night), which would've sorta 'shown' him that being despicable is the way to win/survive (as Kisaki's evil kill-Emma-plan had succeeded). Izana would also probably have gotten even darker and more twisted from it, and I guess that Kakucho would just numb himself towards whatever sins he and they commit.
Therefore, I think his personality would be somewhat similar between Izana and Bonten timelines, but he may be more 'grounded' and jaded in the latter, and perhaps therefore more 'mature'? This is because he wouldn't have Izana then, so I feel that he could've thought a lot more for himself, as opposed to having Izana around and following his wishes. He'd be more fulfilled in the Izana timeline though.)
Kakucho is very disciplined and health/fitness conscious so I highly doubt he'll partake in drugs. He won't even smoke, imo. The worse he'll do is probably just sample the milder ones that Bonten is selling for quality control, but this doesn't happen often and he'll draw the line at certain drugs depending on their potency and effects.
I think criminal adult Kakucho would've engaged a prostitute once or twice to let off steam, and let a girl hang off his arm in the club, but this also doesn't happen often. He just doesn't strike me as the type to be interested in promiscuous sex, probably just wants to connect with a single person.

hello yoko!! can i ask for your opinion in the tenjiku boys' education? (what kind of school they went to, their grade level, how frequently do they attend their classes, that kind of stuff) ty in advance already ╰(*^▽^*)╯
Hi Anon!! Ahhhh omg I'm so glad you asked this, the education background of the TR boys have always been something I wanted to explore. 😄 So sorry it took me so long to answer this!
Before I start, I just wanted to say that I'm not entirely knowledgeable about the Japanese school system. Again, most of what I know are from Google and animanga (especially yankii manga like Crows and Worst by Takahashi Hiroshi). Nonetheless, considering how TR takes some liberty in portraying high-school kids, I'll be answering this in the same vein!
In general: even though the Tenjiku boys don’t seem to go to school in the ‘Day in the Life’ section in CB3, all of them should’ve at least received a middle school education because it’s compulsory in Japan, even if they were awful students. (If they are expelled, then another school was obliged to take them in.) By the way, most junior high schools in Japan are public, and private high schools are usually expensive to attend.
That said, here goes my headcanon about the Tenjiku boys’ education!
IZANA
Middle School
Went to a public middle school near the orphanage, which had helped him to enroll.
Appeared at school just for the attendance but skipped classes a lot to hang out with Shinichirou, wander around town or to do whatever he felt like. Even if he was in class, he’d mostly be zoning out, and all his teachers have given up on pulling him back in.
Indifferent towards his studies but could still score fairly decent grades. Occasionally turned in a piece of homework when he got bored every now and then. His best subjects were music (duh, though he hated the recorder) and English, which he was somewhat interested in because he thought it could relate him more to Karen.
I think Wakui meant for him to be pretty in-universe, so quite a few girls and other students thought he looked cool (especially when he was playing the guitar), but none of them really crushed on him because he probably seemed like trouble.
High School
It seems that he got released from juvie just in time to graduate from middle school, so he at least got the qualifications to attend high school. I think he made the decision to continue his education with a ‘why not?’ attitude, and enrolled into a lower-ranked public high school that would take him and his criminal record in.
However, he dropped out shortly after when he found it to be a waste of time, so he could focus on building up the 8th Gen. Black Dragons and his activities with the S-62.
KAKUCHO
Middle School
The orphanage wanted to enroll him into the same public school as Izana, and Kakucho was initially all for it until Izana came and shared his plans to dominate the gang scene in Japan. Kakucho then resolved to become his strongest soldier, so he insisted to be enrolled at the worst ‘delinquent’ school in the area, where all the toughest ruffians attended.
This all-boys’ school was basically just a place for delinquents and gangsters to pass time in the education system. (Think Suzuran or Housen High from the Crows Franchise!) Practically no studying took place and all they did was get into fights—perfect for Kakucho, who only wanted to beat people up and become the strongest. That is exactly what he did and he eventually emerged as the top dog at the school, which was also where he found most of his guys for Tenjiku. Therefore, if anyone needs help with schoolwork, Kakucho definitely won’t the first person they’d turn to...
It was because of the school’s lax requirements that he got to say he completed middle school, even though he was hospitalised for most of the graduation period after the Kanto Incident (which happened in February; graduation happens in March).
High School
Went to another notorious all-boys’ delinquent school, but was mostly a ghost there in his first year because he was still hung up on Izana’s death.
Then, he got inducted into Rokuhara Tandai by South, so he had no choice but to round up the ruffians at his school to boost the numbers for RokuTan.
RAN & RINDOU
Middle School
Attended the same private school together, though they were in different grades. It wasn't a prestigious school but still a fairly decent one with most students coming from upper-middle class families. Ran chose to go there simply because he liked its uniform design (lmao).
Both brothers were disinterested in their studies, though Ran tried to get into literature just to ‘be’ cultured but always ended up falling asleep after picking up a book (LOL). Between them, Rindou got better grades because he puts in more effort into passing his tests as he’s generally more disciplined than Ran.
At school, the Haitani’s were probably admired for their ‘coolness’ but their classmates tried not to get too involved with them because of their status as gangsters and juvie record. Ran was more popular with the girls and teachers because he knew how to use his glib tongue when he needed to, while Rindou was more popular with the guys because of his toughness, even if he tended to piss everyone off with his blunt and snarky comments.
I think the Haitani Brothers didn’t actively try to stir up trouble at school and mostly minded their own business, but trouble just found them anyway because of their reputation and large following. Random punks were always seeking them out to fight. Ran rarely responded to them, and Rindou usually ended up being the one to beat and chase them away.
Both brothers definitely skipped school as and when they liked, enough that the school has issued them warning letters. But because of their money, the school let them complete their education despite their poor grades and juvie record.
High School
Like Izana, they decided to enroll into high school for the sake of it, and also because they were aware that everyone needs a high school diploma at least in society. But due to their criminal record, they only managed to get into a lower-ranked private high school, which worked out well because it could accept their lax attitude towards school and incredibly high absenteeism.
One day, they decided to just stop showing up at school because they also realised that it was a waste of time, and they could pick up more relevant skills for their futures by actually being in the nightlife industry and learning the ropes there. After awhile, the school just expelled them for their truancy, so they didn’t actually finish high school.
MOCCHI
Middle School
Like Kakucho, he went to a rather notorious middle school for gangsters and delinquents in Kawasaki with the goal of fighting strong guys and being the baddest ass around.
Therefore, not much studying took place with him either. It didn’t matter what kind of grades he got because everyone was performing badly (lmao). He loitered around in school a lot only because it’s simply where he hung out at, and he even set up a makeshift gym in the courtyard using scrapyard junk. If he wasn't at his school, then he was at someone else’s calling them out to fight.
Eventually, he founded Jugem with the following he’s gained and decided to spend more time on it, so his truancy rate shot up as well. Like Izana, he returned from juvie just in time for graduation, which was made possible despite his terrible records because the school just wanted to get rid of him.
High School
Entered another ‘delinquent’ school, this time an all-boys’ vocational high school, because he heard that yakuza often recruited new members from it. Pretty much repeated his lifestyle from middle school, though now he’s more involved and driven towards the S-62 activities.
Tried to take his studies a little more seriously when he found out that yakuza needed ‘smarter’ people (to handle businesses) but struggled. Shion made fun of him relentlessly for this, even though Shion himself didn't go to high school. Mocchi eventually gave up and reasoned that he didn’t need to prove himself to anyone or join the yakuza if he was following Izana. He was able to scrape through graduation, eventually.
MUCHO
Middle School
Attended a public middle school in his district that championed strong traditional values, which somewhat influenced him.
Joined the Judo Club and was one of their top fighters until he went too far and grievously injured an opponent during a match with another school. He was kicked out of the club then.
He was stoic and mostly kept to himself too, and was usually surrounded by the other delinquents who admired him. He was also selective with his teachers; he’ll have no qualms disrespecting or picking a fight with a teacher who pissed him off, but would try to control himself around teachers he respected. Once, he’d overheard some girls in his class discussing nice cafes. One of them asked if Cozy Corner was good, and he replied that it was. Because of how abruptly he’d joined and how imposing and scary he looked, the girls were freaked out and ran away, and Mucho never tried to engage in such conversations again.
Unlike his other gangmates, he actually realized that he did need some of the knowledge taught in school (like language, math and basic science and physics), so he tried to attend classes as much as he could and managed to get relatively average grades. I think his best and favourite would’ve been Social Studies. Scholastically, the school board didn’t have much of an issue with him; they are mostly bothered by rumours about his violence outside of school.
The last straw came when he got sentenced to juvie, and his school had no choice but to expel him. He eventually finished the little bit of his junior education at another school that took him in, where he mostly kept a low profile until graduation.
High School
After juvie and being in on Izana’s plans, Mucho decided to enroll in a commercial high school so he could learn and study more about business and commerce, which is undeniably useful if he was to engage in criminal activities and industries because it’s all about the money. This commercial school is also on the rougher side, so he occasionally got into fights there too.
Eventually, he realised that real-life experience taught him much more, so he ended up skipping school quite a bit to deal with the other gang activities and drug trade that the S-62 had going on. Still, he hung on enough to graduate, but skipped out on the graduation ceremony like any good delinquent would.
SHION
Middle School
Went to a fairly average public school in the neighbourhood, and raised a huge ruckus on his first day by declaring he’ll rule over everyone there as banchō (gang leader). This school didn’t have many delinquents, but the few it had immediately sought him out to teach him a lesson. He somehow beat up all of them by going nuts on everyone, and he effectively established his position like he said he would.
Absolutely hopeless academically, also gets his kanji and vocab wrong (but at least he's better than Baji). Probably bullied a nerdy classmate into doing his homework for him just so he could pass his school requirements.
He actually spent quite some time at school, but only because he liked the feeling of being feared by his classmates and teachers. He was an all-round menace and picked fights whenever he felt like it, and basically lorded around everyone.
Because of his terrible attitude at a school that couldn’t tolerate extreme delinquent behaviour, they expelled him the moment he got sentenced to juvie. Like Mucho, he simply finished his education upon release at a ‘delinquent school’, where he got even worse from the environment.
High School
I don’t think he went on to High School because of how useless he found education to be. Probably believed that he could survive perfectly fine without a high school diploma. Besides, he would rather spend his time on the 9th Gen Black Dragons, and couldn’t be bothered to invest himself in school.
As you can see, I took LOTS of liberty with my headcanons in these, based on the few snippets we have of these boys! I hope you found them acceptable or believable, in the context of TR at least!
