ok so i have a hazbin hotel theory (specifically about the vees) my friend brought to my attention that i haven’t seen anyone post about so i’m gonna do it here

ok so we have all seen the v tower, it is one of the only buildings in hazbin that is given significant detail and more specifically it is one of the ONLY CIRCULAR SHAPED BUILDINGS!!!

why is this a relevant detail you ask?? because the circular shape of the v tower looks EXTREMELY SIMILAR to the tower of babel!!!

for those of you unfamiliar w/ the story of the tower of babel, essentially the story goes that humans built a tower to try and reach heaven and as punishment for their hubris god cursed them all to speak in tongues aka babble!

the story of hubris perfectly lines up w/ the current attitude the vees have, especially towards powerful players like charlie and alastor. I think they will pay a similar price for their pride, especially w/ lucifer and heaven taking a more active role in the coming season.

the vees primary influence is thru their influence so if they were cursed w/ an inability to communicate or smth of the likes it would be a MAJOR HIT to their power!!!

everything in hazbin and the hellaverse are drawn vv intentionally! the heaven embassy looks like a church, the serephim are all depicted w/ three pairs of wings, the deadly sins are drawn based on biblical descriptions of them!!! this is why i think the v tower looking like the tower of babel is not merely coincidence!!

can everyone take a minute and chill out? golbetty's ending was what golbetty wanted it to be. she could have kicked simon's ass to the afterlife and back but she didn't. she wanted him to see how single-minded he'd been, own up to it, and then go about his life like she'd decided to go about her own. if she didn't want to be a god she wouldn't be. she has that power. she's not trapped like simon thought she was, is what we're being shown. she's vibing. even cubed the lich out of existence. god forbid women don't do what everyone else wants them to, i guess? good grief.

I got good news on the academic front yesterday, and although I'm a bit ".......?" about it, it's very cool.

So now I'm thinking about how much fun I had back in 2011 (when I was an undergrad!) writing a fic where a sketchy academic in the distant future hatches a theory that Darth Vader was .............. *drumroll* Anakin Skywalker.

But also, while her monograph is daring and there's some good evidence for it, a lot of this scholar's research is pretty shoddy. The fic is not the original scholar's take but a(n also dubious) critical anonymous review of it.

Then, in 2017 (this would be after I got my MA), I was prompted to write a sequel, I think by @beatrice-otter. I wrote and posted the sequel in which a third scholar, this one actually willing to give her name, has done research in Tatooine for several years and condemns the first scholar's total lack of engagement with Tatooinian sources or knowledge.

I doubt I'll write more of that specific verse, but re-reading is like ... hmm, my career path is not exactly a shocking revelation.

absolutely nothing funnier in a splatoon match than when the enemy team shuts down your devastatingly aggressive push where you get very close to a knockout and someone on the enemy team squidbags you really aggressively because of how tilted they were you got that far. and then you win the match because they never manage to muster a push to counter your lead. and when you see the screen of everyone's kills/deaths/specials, the guy who aggressively squidbagged you got half the kills you did, twice the deaths you did, and got off maybe one single fucking special. like. way to broadcast you are the most tilted individual playing in queue right now. have fun fuming over getting your ass severely beaten by my gay little octo doing his gay little run across the map and limp-wristedly swinging his painbrush at you. perhaps you should invest in some gitting gud

Very interesting (concerning) that while there’s a general consensus of “of course there’s queer Muslims and Jews and Christians we love them!” But that love is conditional. You can be religious but not too religious. You can be spiritual as long as it’s not actually that important to you. You can be observant of your religion’s dogma and traditions as long as you keep it away from everybody else.

But I don’t want to cut myself into smaller pieces. I don’t want to take a part of my life and culture and being and hide it away behind closed doors. It’s just…hypocritical and disappointing when people, who clamor about their love for the contradictory and self-authentic, hate when they’re confronted with it.
