Here we have Carol Danvers and Tony Stark during a rare moment in their early thirties. Struggling with alcoholism was hard for both of them. After she failed to stop a Kree invasion on a planet far from Earth, the planet was ravaged and burned. It had been early in her hero career, and she’d fallen into drunkenness. It had worn her down to nearly nothing, and she’d been skin and bone by the time she’d seen fit to seek help.

Tony still had scars from the Middle-East, the reactor in his chest the least of his worries. The PTSD, the waking nightmares were keeping him up most nights, black bags under his eyes and constant headaches meant he couldn’t work, even when he wanted to. He’d resorted to drastic measures, and drank himself to sleep most nights. It had made him irritable, and more than anything it had made him SCARED. He was becoming like Howard, something he’d sworn not to be.

They’d found each other once the Avengers had formed. Carol, after a few years had come back to Earth, hunting down the remains of Ronin’s acolytes, and had stumbled into a bar one evening, pissed out of her goddamned mind. Tony had joined her, recognising her. They’d been dorm-mates in college, before Carol had joined the Air Force to pay off her debt. It had taken a little while, but soon it was like old times.

Their bond had grown since then. They’d supported each other getting sober. One day, they got together, boxes of beer and cider in their car boots. They met at a nearby disposal site, pouring the foul liquid down the drain and throwing the glass into the disposal bins. They’d laughed and cried about it, clinging to each other.

They found solace with each other in the early hours of the morning, and the late minutes of midnight. When one had a relapse, the other followed not soon after. The shakes, the nausea was awful, and both ended up screaming and cursing at one another at one point or another.

But as bad as it got, they trusted each other, and soon, they began working through it. They grew closer. And it was Carol that fell first, and she fell hard. Her previous three relationships had been women. Of course, she swung both ways, but she’d preferred the girls more than the guys. So when she saw Tony asleep at his desk one night, messy blueprints scattered across the worktop, she stopped short when she felt her heart skip a beat. Oh. Oh. She was down bad. Carol helped him back to his bedroom, making sure he was comfortable.

“J, notify me if he wakes bad, please?” She asked the empty room. “Of course,” JARVIS assured her. It didn’t make her feel better, not much anyway, but she left him to sleep.

It was Tony that fell next. They were sitting across from a bottle of beer. Two shot glasses sat by it on the coffee table. His fingers twitched, and she looked to him. “Just a little more,” she assured him. “We got this.” Tony felt Carol’s hand on his reactor, his back stiff and his hands itching. His tongue was dry. He was sweating. She was shaking like a leaf, her eye having developed a tic from the effort it was taking to keep away from the bottle. “Five more minutes?” He suggested. Carol hummed. “Five more.” Her voice was unsteady, and Tony hated how terrified she looked.

He placed his hand, once on the armrest of the setee on her hand that rested on his repulsor, squeezing it. “I got you.” His voice was warm. “You got me?” He was uncertain, but Carol looked him in the eye. “I got you,” They sat there for a moment, and Tony swore his sensors were malfunctioning. They leaned forward and kissed, holding each other tight, all thoughts of the bottle in front of them out of their minds for what felt like hours.

Fireworks. That was all they could describe it as, loud, rambunctious, and celebratory. It felt right, and as they pulled away, Carol rested her head on his shoulder. “So the tin man has a heart after all,” she murmured. Tony snorted. “If I’m the Tin Man you’re Dorothy.” Carol smacked his chest and he chortled. “Lion,” she bargained.

“Lion it is.” Tony snickered.

Yes this is ship art, and Carol is only two years younger than Tony in this, and they are both in their thirties.

It’s a real shame we didn’t get to see more of TonyCarol in the MCU. I think it’s one of Tony’s best relationships (he has SO many good ones) but their dynamic offers so much to play with that would make great live story arcs. We should have heard Tony call Carol “SpaceFace.” Also I just think of Tony holding and playing with Goose Chewie 😍, TonyGoose would be a chaotic duo in it self!

Hello friend, why are many 616! iron man fans angry with Captain Marvel. They also dislike how Jason Aaron’s and Kelly Thompson’s are writing TonyCarol relationship? I know in the 80s they were tight friends and had similar shared trauma with their dads and alcoholism but then what led to their friendship downfall? And why are fans saying that these writers write Carol as the victim meanwhile Tony was truly the victim. Did Carol apologise yet? How is Rhodey coping with all their drama? Tnx :)

they were pretty close friends up until cwii ruined everything ,, to my knowledge carol hasn’t really. apologized to tony himself for putting him in a coma, rather she’s shown to feel guilty about it but that plot point isnt really followed up on. i think the mighty captain marvel was trying to go for “iron man vol 4 doing super huge damage control after the civil war event because otherwise everyone would hate tony’s guts for what he did” vibes at first (esp in issue #0). but it sort of fails in that regard because while it’s a good story overall, there’s no undercurrent of the loss like in iron man director of shield, and carol’s internal conflict doesn’t revolve around the aftermath of cwii.

in the life of captain marvel stohl writes carol and tony as friends who have forgiven each other which is good! and wholesome! and i love it a lot! but i sort of wish that there was a sort of. transition comic like avengers prime but for carol and tony where they could realize they still cared about each other even after all everything they fought over, and that way the jump from cwii to how they are in the life of captain marvel makes more sense??.

i just think that in general, carol’s character hasn’t been done justice in terms of cwii like tony has in terms of the first civil war. like. she was the one who put tony in a coma jfc i dont understand WHY are writers portraying her as someone who doesn’t care and feels no remorse,,. jason aaron i can and will shoot you.

what the fuck is this. hand over the rights to carol and tony RIGHT this instant marvel

compare this to avengers vol 4 where even after tony had a small heart-to-heart with steve in avengers prime (where he says outright that he’s a better person as steve’s side) he’s still scared about working with him and even being on the same team as him because he’s afraid that they’ll cause more harm than good

in recent comics carol is written to have this weird hostility?? towards tony for some reason and the problem with this (I AM LOOKING AT YOU JASON AARON) is that it just doesn’t. make sense (no one would act like this towards a friend, least of all carol!!) and it causes the more casual fans to dislike her because it’s like “what the hell, carol almost killed tony, why is she snarking to him about being braindead and saying that HE should be the one apologizing to HER”. and it doesn’t help that no one at marvel is willing to address how cwii has negatively impacted her for more than 3 issues

I'm little Tony Stark and Clint Barton obsessed cuz of comics (can't blame me now). But will go all the way for any 616 comic book Character including my boy Loki. Also too many ships. I KNOW. SHhh.. don't judge!!

If anyone don't know 616 is the prime universe which is like the main universe for marvel comics. I'm quite critical towards MCU and their fucked up story arcs of my all time favourite characters. So ya lil warnings I wanna give about me regarding mcu. Because fuck MCU.

Loves EMH, AA AND Heroes United. Into superior Ironman (White suit is awesome don't @ me). Also liked secret empire (though I was on the edge while reading it). I LOVE (more like obsessed with) Hawkeye - life as weapon and Hawkeye - Little Hits. I also want to recommend, that is if anyone even want to read, Tales of suspense - Hawkeye and winter soldier (which takes place after secret empire), Loki - The God who fell to earth, Ultimates, Avengers Prime, Capitan American and Ironman: Night in Madripoor, Hawkeye vs Deadpool, Avengers Endless war time, The Avengers (2010 - 2012) by Brain Michael Bendis, definitely Secret Empire (2017). (Will add more in the future), Hawkeye : Freefall is in my wish list.

SUPERNATURAL [ 𝗠 ] 一 Everything about sam / dean and the about the show. I ship sam and dean (wincest shipper). Yes! You have problem with it gtfo of my blog and if want to ask the all time question of "why" I ship it then look ─ HERE. Also which is only a fictional ship to me. I treat their Canon relationship as a pure platonic love which in my opinion goes beyond hevean and hell. I love them so much, both the characters and also the actors that played the said characters. Look at THIS and tell me they're NORMAL!!

BTS 一 for bts you'll see gif sets, gfx, graphics, videos about the boys (ot7 and non shipper) also I don't have bias. I simply can't decide. It's been 5 years I still can't decide my bias. Proud BTSArmy.

BL series 一 As for the bl series, you won't find much here. I'm sorry to disappoint you on that. My fav bl series are sotus, sotus s, together with me, together with me (next chapter), tharntype, 2gether, still 2gether, my engineer (kingram and mekboss). u right, this might be the first event I’m excited for since forever. Yikes, I knew Slott was a co-writer bt I thought he was just there for continuity purposes (im2020 & F4). Oh! What’s ur thoughts on Aaron’s Avengers? There has been some controversies over his characterisation n the relationship b/w the characters ie TonyCarol. I hope Ewing address n squash whatever is lingering from cwii. It’s overdue. I miss Tony having long term friends without any beef! Especially with Carol (n Steve)

I think Jason Aaron is a good writer and I very much enjoyed his recent Doctor Strange run but to me he just doesn’t seem to be a good fit for the Avengers. I don’t like how he writes Tony & Carol. I don’t like how he writes Jen. He seems intent on bringing in a cast of guest characters that rotates so fast you can hardly keep track of who’s on the team, and then filling the book with a whole lot of other teams and plotlines -- the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC or the Winter Guard or the Squadron Supreme. Like, if I wanted to read a book about the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC I would be buying that book instead. I buy Avengers because I want to read about the Avengers, at minimum. This seems to be a hard concept for Marvel editorial to grasp.

To me it seems unlikely that Ewing will address anything from CW2 specifically because comics these days very rarely refer to the impacts of previous events even though I think they really should; we mostly just don’t get narrative closure like that. (I think Cap #401 is maybe the only example of the kind of thing you’re looking for.) But if we’re lucky, Tony & Carol might get some nice friendship moments and I think that it’s a reasonable thing to hope for.

For everything else, that’s why we write fanfic, right? :D
