I recently read the novelization for Day Of Honor, here’s some excellent highlights:
Harry Kim immediately shutting down some anti-Borg sentiment from a colleague to defend Seven, he’s the sweetest, I love him
Tuvok + Neelix exhibiting Spock & Bones behavior
Klingons recognizing Doctoring as a noble warrior’s pursuit and and extremely honorable calling, 10/10, no notes
Janeway and the Doctor having a beautiful philosophical discussion about humanoids needing religious practices, rhythms, and communities + shared beliefs throughout myriad societies and how the Doctor is not in any way lesser for finding his own, and also how they don’t have to be religious to be cultural practice, just all around excellent scene
and since it’s Day of Honor, I of course had to share The Moment TM between Tom and B’elanna ♡
I really enjoyed this novelization and definitely recommend it, it’s such a good read especially for P/T shippers!

so like, we can all agree alongside the news duo the Jerry/is are the top ship of Hatchetfield? Like, everyone knows somethings up between them no matter how much they deny it.
You say that like the entire line at toy zone wasn’t completely enraptured by Tom & Becky’s high school sweethearts reunion
Jk, everyone who’s ever spent 5 minutes with those two can sense the sexual tension & it kills them! They don’t have to commit to the bit that hard, they’re adults! They can get together if they want! There are debates & bets all throughout Hatchetfield about if/when they’ll get together

Alright here's a ton of Hatchetfield headcanons
Hannah is ambidextrous
Also, her favourite colour is bright, sunny yellow
She often hides near the bleachers during gym
Tom has like 5 duplicates of the same flannel shirt
Emma sometimes doodles on spare receipts and scraps of paper. She isn't that good (at least she doesn't think) but it keeps her hands busy.
Ted is kind of creeped out by goats. He doesn't know why, though. At least, not yet...
Paul gets migraines a lot, mostly from dehydration and sleep deprivation.
He often scrunches up his nose when he's angry or upset
John Mac's favourite colour is gold, though most expect it to be red, blue, and white, what with how patriotic he is (/j)
Speaking of, he gets kinda sad and irritable around the month when Wilbur disappeared.
Pete has diabetes, thus why his "very low blood sugar" is really fuckin' important
Non-binary kids at Abstinence Camp get purple shirts because it's the closest thing to blue and pink mixed together.
Also, while premarital sex is a big no-no, homophobia and transphobia is even worse! Jerry and Jeri might be semi-deranged camp counselors who raised their son in the woods, but they're not that evil! (/hj)

I’ll say it louder this time for the people in the back:
Star Trek episodes were constantly being written by a rotating and collaborating group of different (mostly white and male), writers and often took spec scripts from outside writers as well. No single writer was going to have the one definitive take on any single characterization for the handful of main characters that existed for the TNG-VOY era shows. Writers also played favorites and often wrote most for the character or characters that they found the most interesting.
So when I say that half of my method for enjoying Star Trek is to selectively accept or reject characterization on an episode-by-episode basis, THIS IS WHY.
There is a difference between ignoring all character flaws, and having a discerning eye for ignoring Dated, Prejudiced, And Heteronormative Bullshit. I don’t see anyone fully absorbing this Spock quote into their understanding of his character’s personality, opinions, and general disposition: “ [It preys] on women because women are more easily and more deeply terrified, generating more sheer horror than the male of the species. ” (TOS, S2E14 “Wolf in the Fold”),
And why don’t they consider this part of Spock’s characterization? Why doesn’t anyone agree that Spock thinks all women are weak and more easily terrified than men?
Because we know it’s 1960′s dog shit.
So if I see one more anon in my inbox coming to me and saying that there’s something wrong with me for ignoring the unnecessary and badly written parts of Tom Paris’s characterization (under the excuse that they think I ignore any characterization that doesn’t depict him as being “perfect”), I’m going to turn off anon for good. There is never a reason to go into someone’s askbox or messages and patronize them, that’s just cyberbullying so I hope you’re proud of yourself.
P.S. I don’t have to explain my internal thought processes on how I do or do not interact with fictional characters to you or anyone else if I don’t want to.
And if you’re just looking for a fight, then say it to my goddamn face next time instead of hiding behind anonymous, you fucking coward.
