see if fitzjames and hickey were roleswapped (so that hickey is a commander and jfj is an able seaman/mate) i feel like it'd end up with hickey trying to engineer increasingly convoluted ways to get jfj killed in order to stop him from getting in the way of his attempts to manwhore manipulate manslaughter his way into seizing control of the expedition while jfj through a combination of skill and sheer luck and his historically accurate roachlike ability to survive against incredible odds keeps dodging his attempts like an ant in a microwave (until the scurvy gets him)

bob and fischoeder have such a weird power imbalance bcuz like mr fischoeder is much richer than bob AND his landlord so he has a lot of actual tangible power over him and his family but then he's also very clearly obsessed with/hopelessly in love with bob who Does Not return his affections so bob could probably manipulate him into doing anything if he really wanted to. he's not scared of fischoeder..... like one kiss on the lips and bob is living in that apartment rent free for the rest of his life. i saw someone theorize that the belchers haven't actually paid their rent since season three or four but mr fischoeder lets them keep living there for free and thats fully 100% believeable within canon

as much as i hate uther, i don’t believe him to be homophobic. him and gaius definitely experimented when they were younger. i think it much funnier that uther doesn’t care that merlin’s a boy. yeah sure he’s a little stuck on the class difference (why on earth would arthur go for a servant???). but the thing that really sets him off, has him spitting with rage, is the sorcerer part.
