My initial reaction to the Shin Godzilla trailer. While Heisei Godzilla is my go-to favorite design and what usually comes to my mind when I think of the character, Shin's definitely my 2nd favorite due to his creepy look and unique atomic breath. I hope future non-film media uses him.

Movie Review: Godzilla vs Kong (Spoilers!!)

So I just watched Godzilla vs Kong (in Imax!!) and I have to say that this series remains one of the only ones that have lived up to my expectations after I watch the trailer/get lost in the hype. I’ve been waiting since KotM came out for this and was sorely disappointed that it kept getting delayed.

BUT despite my worry that it wouldn’t live up to the hype, GvK delivered everything it promised. (I’m aware there will be haters but whatever, I came for the monsters and I got the monsters 😌)

First things first, I’m not an old school Godzilla fan - in that I never followed the original series (which, sad but it wasn’t my generation) but for some reason I’ve always liked Godzilla (could be due to his appearances in Ultraman...?)

That being said, I just about FREAKED when Mechagodzilla was revealed. I knew it was coming, I knew he was inside this movie and he was gonna be the common villain but DAMN it still shook me with the slow camera pan across the entire thing. (And that, marvel, is how you can have ‘leaks’ and yet not have the awe spoiled)

I was rooting for Godzilla the whole time - and yesssss my lizard bby won, which, woohoo! I really enjoyed watching Godzilla fight - actually fight, not just blast his enemies to kingdom come with his atomic breath. (Also it was really cool to see the devastating effects of that breath attack) He’s a lizard and it shows, I love it so so SO much.

I don’t hate Kong - I rooted for him in his own movie - but eyy Godzilla will forever take the crown for me. 😌 that said, I felt a bit sorry that he was being dragged all over the place in the movie 😂😂 just let him go home man, how’d they even catch him in the first place??

Overall I think this movie was amazing. I loved the effects, I loved the fights, mechagodzilla was amazing and I wish he had more screen time, both monsters were AMAZING, I loved that we could read their expressions with no words at all - communication! - and I loved the fight scenes between both Godzilla and Kong. They deserve the apex predator title.

One thing I kinda felt iffy about was that this movie was very much Kong-centric. I guess it makes sense since Godzilla had the spotlight for the other two but ngl I kinda wish he had more screen time/focus :/ was hoping to see more of this bad boi.

Personally I think I enjoyed Godzilla King of the Monsters more - though I think that’s because Ghidorah was in there as well - but Godzilla vs Kong is definitely a must watch.

(No comments on the humans because I couldn’t really care less about them? XD Except Gea(?) and Bernie(?) because they’re both adorable and wholesome)
