Headcanons ²
*equivalent to the first season, each one from one side of the story (golden guard YAY x chaotic criminal rebel YAY) that occasionally meets
Both too stubborn to give in in an argument or ideal, they'll never admit that they have ANYTHING in common
But curreeently they have a lot of similar things: musical taste, culinary taste, literary taste, basically the same person ☠️ which is pretty weird since Willow was under the culture of the human realm and Hunter was under the demon realm's most of his life, but it's like both Luz and Amity knowing Azura's book
Except for the styles, he's the little prince totally dolled up who spends hours polishing his armor and have clothes selected by other people of course, she's emo and wears the first thing she sees in the closet. Willow's comfortable with herself and Hunter is desperately trying to cover up his messy interior
Hunter as a golden guard here doesn't wear a mask, he's the FACE of the emperor's coven, so Willow can come to an agreement with herself that he's pretty, Hunter can also agree, he also thinks himself is pretty (ok ok let's hypothetically say he has a crush on people with glasses named Willow, just a coincidence
The two doubt each other's intelligence a lot and end up acting like fools falling into the traps of their own ego, they're better in this regard when they rarely and unwillingly work together, two heads think better than just one in the end
The evolution of cute names: "Mistress Park" and "Whatever-his-name" -> "Dear Wilsy/Sweet Low" and "Golden guy" -> "Will" and "Hunt"
Willow knows his weaknesses, she uses the most cowardly of all against him............ compare him to a D O G. blindly loyal and following an owner who offers treats or approval pats if he does a few tricks. GOLDEN RETRIEVER!!!!! did u guys know that she gave him a cute dog collar as a gift? I think it's so rude that he never used it (I like to say as if everything is canonical 'cause in my mind it is). she calls him whistling and he goes to her with droopy ears only to say he's NOT a dog and then he leaves again, with a dramatic movement of his cape
Hunter's secret identity (WHO IS ThE MOST REBEL NOW, WITCHES!!!!!) flirts shamelessly with Willow, she knows it's him. why he's so dumb. his mask (NOW he uses) didn't disguise voice. "Caleb Jasper Bloodwilliams" here was his escape from the coven stuff, just being free and without responsibilities for a few hours, but it ended up becoming a little too "against the coven" when he discovered some things
"you can let me pay, it's just a kindness between old friends, don't worry" Hunter said and in the next day, while he was receiving a very direct death threat "YOU OWE ME ONE, I BOUGHT YOU COFFEE AND YOU THANK ME LIKE THAT??". a little emotional manipulation on both sides, how romantic 🥰
introverts who communicate telepathically with nods of the head. while everyone was in Grom they were outside just stopping arguing for a moment and enjoying each other's company 🥺:
"even if it's not the beeest thing in the world, it's what we have for today apparently..."
"who said it's not the best thing in the world for me? I'm having fun, currently. you're not that bad"
"wha- but I like that too! I don't mean- I just thought you wouldn't- don't laugh at me, that's shameful now..."

hunter is a fool (affectionate) w/ no social skills so there is NO way he has not unintentionally fucked up and had to spend the next 24 hours making it up to willow

i'd say willow. hunter's got training and experience but willow's got her Cool Plant Magic behind her as well

idk if Jealous is the right word but hunter definitely strikes me as the type to be self-conscious abt his worth

we have seen on multiple occasions that hunter's response to Conflict is to Dip. HOWEVER i'd argue that w/ people he trusts (e.g. willow and the rest of the hexsquad) he'd be more willing to try and stick a hard situation through honestly

hot take: marriage is just One of Those Things hunter has never heard of being a ward of the local cult. willow proposes and he's like "haha cool. i dont know what this means"
who has the most difficult parents?

hm. we have seen that hunter has a Thing going on with his hands however we have not been given lore on WHY. therefore i propose: bumping shoulders. it seems like their vibe
alternatively: willow would initiate handholding but always w/ the understanding that hunter could refuse

theyre sitting on the couch watching a movie and willow is swaddled in like 3 different blankets and hunter is lowkey freezing but he refuses to steal even one because 1) he is Tough. and 2) willow looks so content <3

hmmm.... depends on the context. when willow is upset her emotions have always been rlly strong however i think all things considered she has a pretty good hold on them. she's also consciously trying to be positive through each day - on the other hand, hunter has been the Lord of Pessimism for years however bc of that being Sad has just become a Normal thing for him.
who is better at cheering the other up?
they're both good at it just in different ways. willow is good at offering genuine comfort and advice. hunter manages to comfort her because his attempt at comfort is just so laughably bad that it takes away from the pain
who's the one that playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes?
replace "silly jokes" with "fucked up fact / history presented as though it is normal" and willow is regularly reminding hunter that "hey being left at the top of a mountain isnt actually a healthy childhood experience"
who is more streetwise?
i think they're both streetwise in their own ways - hunter's been Trained in survival situations and other fucked up things in the emperor's coven. he knows how to look after himself after he escapes the coven. willow however - she didnt grow up with those experiences but she HAS been through a lot in her own right and she knows how to handle herself.
who is more wise?
willow 100%. she has common sense. hunter does not
who's the shyest?
hunter Thinks he's confident but when it comes to Emotions and Sappy Things (trademark) he is Not
who boasts about the other more?
hunter thinks his gf is the coolest witch alive

Is it just me or did the scene when Wednesday saw werewolf! Enid and Enid IMMEDIATELY softened when she saw her remind me of the scene where Amity beat up the abomination bot that was gonna hurt Luz and IMMEDIATELY got soft and asked Luz if she was ok????

I really don’t care whether you ship it or not, but man am I TIRED of the comments saying “Gus deserves someone that’s actually GOOD’’ like??????
You all need to rewatch TTLGR again because technically the reason Matty and Gus are close now is BECAUSE of Matty himself. He was the ONLY one that walked away from Bria and her group when she treated Gus like crap for the illusion stuff and when she wanted to steal the Galderstones.
Mattholomule literally saw Gus tied up and went to go untie him ( they were both like🥺🥺🥺🥺) apologized for his ignorant comments about illusions, and he was the one who offered to help the Master Illusionist guy (’’Maybe I can help?”) and that is how they both used to work at the graveyard.
ALSO??? they were just teasing each other at the end of TTLGR, and we’ve even gotten crumbs in 2B, like him MULTITRACKING and joining the Illusion track most likely because of Gus’ cool illusions? And Gus having a picture of him and Mattholomule on his bedroom wall, along with other pictures of other people he loves and feels safe around?? Implying Gus loves and feel safe around Matty, my heart-😭😭😭

Beta Huntlow Headcanons
*in the "start of season 3" phase, human realm, same house and shared traumas
The two would both have the vibe "it's hard to tell if they applied eyeliner or just have dark circles under their eyes", two people who sleep late (WHEN they sleep) and wake up very early. I like to imagine them being the last ones in the house awake and arguing that the other one should go sleep, little hypocrites more concerned with the health of others than with their own
They study wild magic together and test glyphs and techniques on each other cause they need testing to learn, so it's a controlled and platonic fight (visualize, just VISUALIZE a "parallel" of Lumity scene of the Grom dance but it's Huntlow just having fun being chaotic among magic explosions OR putting into practice what they trained against some unlucky)
"You have problems with authorities and rules too? Woah, we have so much in common..." they took the expression partners in crime a little too seriously 😰 a common dialogue would be "do ya wanna rob a store today?" and the other responds "we already did that yesterday, I wanna get out of routine, let's try a bank?" not ironically
For RPG people, I think the moral alignments of them would be in the Neutral spectrum, maybe him as Lawful Neutral and she as True Neutral, I'm indecisive, maybe both Chaotic Neutral????
Aaaand for astrological people I think they would be a Virgo and a Scorpio... I just don't know who would be which lol
These two have a hospital drama/police investigation series that they watch together and they're really into it, It's TREASON to watch one episode without the other
Sometimes they pretend to be a couple to strangers 'cause they think it's so funny, and they tend to do this a lot since they hang out together frequently
Arm wrestling? Just an excuse for them to hold hands!!!! But when they start competing in anything a third person (usually Gus) has to step in to stop them from overdo. It's not about winning, it's about making the other admit defeat
There's frequent romantic tension in moments that were theoretically supposed to be threatening and it's frustrating how many times they come close to kissing but interruptions at the wrong time get in the way, that old cliché
Talking about ✨love language✨: Willow offers is acts of service and what she likes to receive/share is quality time. Hunter's love language offered is giving gifts and what he likes to receive are words of affirmation. Then it happens like:
"hey, Will! to thank you for yesterday I bought – nah, I stole – to you... industrialized cookies that you like..!"
"don't call me- wait, cookies? huh, you're the best dork ever, let's eat that while watching TV?"
"yeah, of course, let's see some tragedies in the news, it'll be fun... by the way, am I really 'the best dork'? cuz I'll brag about it later"
*plus that they are often in physical contact, without realizing it cause they are simply used to
