today when I got home, I parked my car and one of the cats that hangs around my yard (stray? outdoor cat? feral? nuisance, is what it is, and a direct danger to my birds) was in my fenced backyard area. Saw me coming and took off bounding at Top Catte Speed because every time I see another fucking cat in my yard, I chase it off yelling and clapping. Took off so fast it did not see the fence coming. Barreled straight into it, pinged off it like a high-speed roomba, and began running a new direction. A minute later I saw him trotting to the neighbor's in the distance, dignity in shambles.

just saw an article where someone attempted to use “science” to “prove” that cats are emotional parasites that should be culled and I have never felt such a surge of anger outside of like. actual human rights violations.

Hot girls harness train their cats instead of letting them roam free so they can watch the local wildlife from a safe distance

Seeing that video of a cat getting attacked and nearly killed by a coyote and then seeing a bunch of horseshit comments on Twitter of people still trying to defend free-roaming outdoor cats fills me with such a visceral rage.
we’re gonna shout it louder for the fools in the back:
KEEP YOUR FUCKING CATS INDOORS

[tw animal death i guess, bc a cat killed a mouse.]
so I went out on a walk around the block here in Germany and I heard a cat meowing under a tall bush. I must stress the the cat was meowing in German because rather than sounding like "miau" like the cats I know from Brazil he sounded like "mäow" which is. Something else entirely.
Cat was bright orange with yellow eyes, and y'all were right about orange cats looking dumb lol. Also, he had a mouse in his mouth. That is, until I arrived and he looked like he had been caught trying to steal a prized jewel from a museum. After a long moment of consideration during which he stared at me wide-eyed, he went back to his snack, german-meowing the entire time.
so uh. that's was today's weird-ass encounter. Duolingo was right. Die katze frisst die maus.

desperately wish people worldwide would just... keep their cats inside, please.
I grew up in the countryside and have seen just about every way an outdoor cat can die horribly, and I had to block a post from a blog I respect and follow bc it's just... it's just too much to look at sometimes.
it's a long list of news articles from the UK about various ways beloved outdoor cats have died horribly. beloved. with cute names and fan hashtags and owners that love them so, so dearly. and they were still killed by dogs or poison or cars or just horrible malicious people. and left the people that love them grieving and hurt and probably traumatized.
and I just... it's horrible. to have to learn a lesson in such a horrific way. to have something you love and cherish taken away from you so suddenly and violently and knowing that it's at least partially your fault. it's awful to know that you should have known better, and that someone you loved paid the price for your ignorance with their life.
and I wish people would learn this lesson before tragedy and trauma. I wish it didn't cost innocent animals their lives.
show your cat how much you love them by keeping them inside, where they're safer.

Don't let your cats roam outside or something might happen to them (I will steal them and give them to someone who actually cares about then and loves them)
