DPxMHA AU - PT AU - My Phantom Academia
DPxMHA au where the Fentons live in Mustafu because of some massive tragedy that happened there at some point over the last 200 years since quirks first appeared & it's said to be haunted. They're still ghost hunters, so they're still considered outcasts in society. Dina also exists in this au. Dina being Diana Selena Fenton, Danny's twin sister whom I made up.
Anyway, the Fentons have lived there since a little after Danny & Dina turned 4. Same with Tucker's family. Meanwhile, Sam had only just moved there from America in middle school.
Jack has a basic strength-enhancement quirk, Maddie has a basic intelligence quirk, & Jazz has a memory quirk.
Danny is quirkless, while Tucker has a basic metal-bending quirk & Dina has a sort of 'healing' quirk. I'll explain further in a little bit.
Sam has perfect dark vision, the ability to see people with invisibility quirks, & spirits, but she's actually considered quirkless due to her toe joint. She also has tapetum lucidum much like Danny & Dina after becoming hanyuu (halfas). She's also an advocate for the quirkless & people with quirks that are considered either weak or villainous.
I call Dina's quirk Injury Exchange. It's a stronger form of one of her grandmothers' quirks.
Her quirk would allow her to exchange someone else's injury for her healthy equivalent. So, if someone had a cut on their hand, she'd be able to take that cut from them, leaving unblemished skin behind.
This works no matter how severe the injury. Meaning that she can even exchange missing limbs & organs. This process works via the manipulation of cells into energy, exchanging the energy, then turning it back into cells, but the difference being that those cells, right down to their molecules, would be that of the recieving person's cells. So, there is no risk of the body denying the new part.
Now, Dina can also give someone else her own injuries, but she's very much against that sort of thing.
She can also divide the severity of the energy between herself & the other person, but only after years of practice.
She is unable to heal scars though.
However, it was quickly discovered that while this came with a slight healing factor (it's actually due to a mix of her Fenton-Nightingale dhampir qualities & full ecto-liminality), but she has no regeneration factor at this point to go along with it, so she was urged to only use it for non-severe injuries.
---
Since Jack has difficulty speaking most languages, including Japanese, the Fentons regularly speak English at home. This sorta bleeds into Danny's relationships with his friends & they generally talk to each other in English when they don't want others to understand what they're saying. As a result, Izuku quickly becomes fluent.
---
On the other hand, Bakugo goes outta his way to learn English just so he can understand them whenever they do & will be an asshole about them "thinking they're better than him" just for trying to have a private conversation.
Jazz has an entire dissertation written about that boy's many issues.
Either way, Izuku is part of their group & had been since a little after everyone learned he was quirkless. He'd been getting beat up by Bakugo when Danny, Dina, & Tucker came in to save him. They've been friends ever since. Then, in middle school, Sam moved there & their quartet became a quintet.
Because of this, Izuku is more confident in himself & no longer considers Bakugo his friend. He knows what friends are now & Bakugo isn't one. Thanks to his friends, he doesn't develop the pseudo-Stockholm Syndrome that we see in canon. So he doesn't call him Kacchan anymore & to be honest, the first time the greenette called Bakugo, Bakugo it stung them both. It still gets on the hot-headed boy's nerves but he can't react to it because people would get suspicious.
Tucker & Dina even suggested that Izuku could be the Analyst Hero because of all his note-taking. That he should try analyzing villains & using the information against them when he's a hero.
Either way, Aldera doesn't exist here. Casper Middle does in its place. The only teacher there that's worth a shit is Lancer as he doesn't allow discriminatory rhetoric, including anti-quirkless bullshit, in his class. He's a good, if flawed, teacher, but he's surrounded by horrible ones & he tries to be there for the kids targeted.
His quirk is the ability to remember every word of every book he's ever read. Very useful for an English lit teacher. Especially since he enjoys literature so much.
The A-listers are still a thing, but only in middle school. Bakugo's considered one of them, but he honestly hates the lot of them.
In this story, Danny & Dina's accident happens on the first day of their second-to-last year in middle school & Izuku was there for it. At first, they try to pretend that the accident just gave them quirks or something, which prompts Izuku to start writing about it since he'd never seen anyone with multiple quirks before Dina. However when these ghosts, real freaking ghosts with similar abilities to Danny & Dina, start coming out to terrorize people, they begin to get a sick feeling in their stomachs as to what that could mean for the twins.
---
This is the start of the Danny Phantom arc & it goes relatively the same as in the show, just plus Midoriya.
However, this also means that Reign Storm takes place.
Now that Dina & her brother became Phantoms, she's got super healing & regeneration.
From then on, she was able to take much more severe injuries with little-to-no issue. But it wasn't until after TUE & the development of her ability to heal others with her hands (she calls it her Lay On Hands) that she began to really experiment with the possibilities.
Even still, it wasn't until someone lay before her dying with a hole in their lung that she recklessly used it on them. At first Danny thought Dina would die, but it turns out that their cores act as an ectoplasmic memory bank containing blueprints for their body. Because of this, they are both able to regenerate almost any body part near-perfectly. Scars remain, but they do eventually fade. Though, not completely.
She can heal from things like broken arms & whatnot in a matter of hours. Sometime minutes if she regularly drinks bone broth & 3-bone tea. But missing organs can take a week to heal, but again, she can minimize that time with the right food intake.
However, when Dina uses her quirk, the more severe an injury, the less her ghostly self-healing factor works. It still heals, but at a slightly slower rate than other injuries.
She recommends that people consume appropriate foods for up to a week beforehand to help along the process as it puts less strain on her & her quirk. Things like drinking 3-bone tea when you have a broken arm.
Using her Lay On Hands at the same time can mitigate the adverse affects she receives even further.
Again, she has to have specified diets in these situations to help specific missing or injured body parts to heal.
At the same time, her quirk doesn't work on body parts that she doesn't have. So, if a guy lost his... you know... her quirk wouldn't work on him because she doesn't have one.
She also discovers that she has x-ray vision, but it's nowhere near the efficiency of Superman's version. Really, it acts more like an internal x-ray machine, all black & white & slightly fuzzy. Not to mention that she's unable to see through walls.
However, despite it's lack of efficiency, it majorly improves the efficiency of her healing of others by showing her exactly what she needs to heal, which allows her to guide the energy right where it needs to be.
---
At the same time, the appearance of these Ghosts (also called Hereafter Ghosts, Eku-Yuurei, & Zumu-Yuurei) will prompt the appearance of youkai & regular yuurei (Earthbound Spirits of Japanese descent) which is another issue entirely. While Danny & Dina can fight the hostile ones back, their ghost powers aren't especially effective against youkai that aren't yuurei as well. They still work, but not as well.
Not to mention that they can't really use the thermos on the Earthbound spirits or youkai because they aren't made purely of ectoplasm like the Eku-Yuurei are. So, they have to figure out other ways to fight & contain them, or in the regular yuurei's cases, help them move on, which will sometimes eventually involve the use of magic, as well as old school Shinto & Buddhist methods.
Magic for them specifically being Danny's cryomancy & asteromancy & Dina's hydromancy & lunamancy. But for the old school Japanese methods, they need someone with reiki. (To be determined.) Turns out that many of the more humanoid youkai had been hiding amongst humans as people with mutation & emitter quirks since quirks came into being & had been masquerading as regular humans before that since a little after the Sengoku period, around the Meiji era. Of course, no one knows this except the youkai themselves & the hanyou descendants of them, not to mention families of miko, kanushi, hoshi, & taijiya that actually follow the old traditions. It is kept a closely guarded secret by the Nippon Magical Division.
Halfa is the English term for half-ghosts, which means that it wouldn't be the word used too often for Danny, Dina, & Vlad here. Instead, the word used most often would be 'hanyuu' which literally translates to 'half' & 'apparition.'
Here, people are struggling with the idea that these things could be yuurei (spirits) & try to come up with other, quirk-based answers, but are unable.
For Bakugo's part, he had at least one encounter with an Eku-Yuurei & it sorta traumatizes him because his quirk does nothing at all. He may or may not be kinda, sorta... afraid of ghosts now because they can't be blasted away by his quirk & that scares him, but never in his life would he ever admit to it.
For a while, Shouto is the only one to really believe that the Ghosts (Eku/Zumu-Yuurei) are actual Ghosts.
Moving on, because of Izuku's influence, he's able to convince the rest of his friend group to take on hero personas to hide their identities & still help their friend fight ghosts. At first, they just use them when actively patrolling, but Danny (the one with the hands on experience & knack for engineering & science), Tucker (the hacker, coder, & programmer), & Midoriya (being the one to come up with a lot of ideas for support equiment & power usage) eventually work together to study Danny's ability to change clothes when he transforms to build rings that do something similar, but only with clothes, by using ectoplasm. (They don't realize that they basically just revolutionized herowork, because if Heroes don't need to take the time to change then they can get a lot more done. Especially, if they can just low-key it around town on their days off, then immediately be ready with this ring's help. It's even more useful to Underground Heroes.)
They don't really have names, but they opt for a uniform that resembles Danny & Dina's suits & masks. Sam's is a 2 piece with the top being a purple tunic with black racing stripes down the sides & where the neck part is triangular instead of circular. The gloves & boots also have triangular ends. Her bottoms are black & she wears combat boots with steel toes (shaped like a jawless skull). Her mask is black & bat-shaped much like Damian Wayne's mask.
Tucker's is white with orange accents with blue, camo cargo-like bottoms, a bulkier belt for more ghost tech & instead of a mask, he wears a blue visor to hide his features. (Eventually, it'll be more than just a visor, but for now it's just for aesthetics.) No beret, instead a little bit of dread action like when he went goth for a bit, & the tips of the fingers on his gloves & the toes & ankles on his boots are blue.
Izuku's is just basically Danny's, but it's the same color as Izuku's hero costume will be with a basic domino mask to match.
When the Fenton Phones are invented, they each have one as part of their suit before they're built into the masks themselves.
When the Ghost Gloves are made, they become a standard part of Izuku's suit along with the Boo Staff which is an anti-ecto bo staff. When he eventually realizes that he's better with his feet, the team build Ghost Boots for him too. (At some point, the gloves & boots are made more streamlined by Danny & Dina, creating gloves & combat boots with circuitry in the fabric, metal studs on the knuckles, & metal toes. At which point, they become standard for Sam & Tucker too because they're less bulky now. Though, Izuku's will become more bulky once the rest of the team forgives him for keeping OFA a secret from them in order to better withstand his new power.)
Sam is the best shot & is the one with the most anti-ecto guns as well as a Fenton Whiplash, which is just an anti-ecto whip.
Tucker has the most anti-ecto gadgets, in-general.
Tucker's visor links to his pda & has thermal imaging, infrared, night vision, & a Fenton ectographic lense that allows him to see an outline of ghosts even when they're invisible. It takes a good while to make the parts compacted enough to all be used in the others' masks. Years even. (Upon gaining access to nanobots, he & Danny manage to build a spectrometer so compact it actually fits in Tucker's visor. This allows him to see those with invisibility quirks.)
Vlad is an outright villain, one well-known in the criminal underground of America but is too slippery for the authorities. Plasmius, that is. No one knows that Plasmius is also Masters.
However, he is a businessman & was unable to build a full portal from the proto-portal on his own until the Fentons' portal was finished. As such, he only has personal experience with blob ghosts & Skulker. Most of his business in the Infinite Realms was done via a middleman until then. Typically, Skulker himself, as he was the only intelligent ghost able to fit through the proto-portal. As such, keep in mind, all his abilities either came with age or training at home. So, his irl experience in fights are very little & he prefers fights that he knows he will win at & his battle style is to overwhelm opponents with raw power. Occassionally, playing with his food. Not only that, he had no reason to be constantly fighting ghosts & his most basic powers already give him a leg up against quirked individuals. Put these things together & it seems like, though he'd be stronger than in canon, he likely isn't that powerful compaired to his actual potentional. As such, once Danny & Dina start going to U.A. Vlad's gonna realize that not only do they not need him specifically to train them, but that the younger half-ghosts will catch up to him quickly.
Vlad was also born quirkless, so that sorta just added to his overall bitterness in-general. Upon learning about the Twins, he began preparations to take up residence in his Tokyo home to better be able to pester Danny & Dina before setting up a new place of business for VladCo in Musutafu. Walter Weston & his sons moved there for his work.
Ember does eventually show up, but not until she goes on her Japan tour after taking America by storm. This, however, makes her a much more powerful opponent than in canon because she'd technically already accomplished her goal in Fanning the Flames without Danny there to stop her.
Spectra is a wraith & goes wherever there is misery to be had. It just so happens that Casper with all it's quirkist bs is the perfect place for her.
The other important events such as Fright Night, Shades of Grey & every other episode with Valerie, Kindred Spirits, Reign Storm, Ultimate Enemy, Frightmare, Urban Jungle, & D-Stabilize also occures. As well as several other episodes with characters introduced as a result of Vlad's meddling such as Vortex. Control Freaks also happens, but it's due to Freakshow being run out of America.
While Clockwork does appear here, he does so as Daikoku, but with Clockwork's middle age body type & coloration & he doesn't switch between ages here, just staying in his adult form because the age shifting is specifically a quality of his American form. He also goes by Daikoku here because despite Danny, Dina, Sam, & Tucker being originally American, they've lived in Japan for a good while. Not to mention that Izuku is just straight Japanese.
Danny & his sister still manages to find the Far Frozen & Frostbite. Though, I imagine that they originally find a different island of ice first where a tribe of dead yukionna live & they send the pair to the Far Frozen.
Izuku tells Danny & Dina that they should apply for the Hero Course at UA because he's convinced that they'd make for amazing Pro Heroes, but Danny has all kinds of anxiety over that, especially after the Ultimate Enemy. Besides, he still wants to be an astronaut. On the other hand, though Dina wants to be a marine biologist, she has also seen where things are going & has decided that she might as well go whole hog on this hero thing.
Eventually, the beginning of My Hero happens. Izuku had been a vigilante for 2 years, but he's excited to become a hero because he knows that if he can fight ghosts & youkai, he can sure as hell fight ordinary villains. He's even fancying being the first quirkless hero in Japan with a focus on analyzing villains. He had convinced Team Phantom to take up Mrs. Fenton's offer of teaching them karate. However, upon discovering his personal aptitude for kicking, he later takes up taekwondo or kickboxing as well & this allows him to come up with Shoot Style much sooner.
When Bakugo burns his book. Instead of being depressed, he gets angry. He tells his friends to go on because he wants to think. Once they're gone, the Slime Villain attacks. Izuku actually reacts quick enough to dodge out of the way, immediately analyzing him for weaknesses. The villain tries to grab the kid, but no luck. This is when All Might appears & once the villain is taken care of, Izuku has a moment of vulnerability & asks All Might the same question he does in the show.
All Might becomes Small Might & answers much like in the show. Izu becomes depressed at first, hurt by his hero, but then Izuku remembers his friends & becomes determined to prove even All Might wrong.
The event with the Slime Villain & Bakugo happens & Izuku handles it much the same, if more composed & with reflexes honed by ghost fighting & taijiya work, karate with Mrs. Fenton, & taekwondo/kickboxing. When the Pros get onto him, he's honestly offended & thinks to himself, 'at least I did something, you hypocrites.' He becomes angry, seeing Bakugo get praised for basically causing the problem by shooting off his quirk willynilly. Don't get me wrong, Izuku still feels guilty for being the one to accidentally let the Slime Villain go, but he can't help but judge the double standard here. It's part of why he appreciates Sam getting him to help her with advocating for quirkless & 'villainous/weak' quirks' rights. It helps him to better see & identify these wrongs in society & not just think that it's normal.
All Might asks him to be his successor, but then tells him that he can't tell anyone & this creates a problem for Izuku. While he's suspiciously okay with not telling his mom as he knew that she'd always secretly hoped that he'd give up his dream eventually despite how much she loved him (like, she's a good person & a good mother, but she can't help but want her baby safe), he was decidely not okay with keeping his friends in the dark. They'd supported his dream since the very beginning & he didn't want to betray their trust.
Then, summer comes & Reality Trip occurs. The locations they go to are, instead, Tanegashima, home of the Tanegashima Space Center, for Danny, the Churaumi Aquarium in the Okinawa Prefecture for Dina, Akihabara's just entirety for Tucker, & Tokyo for both Sam & Izuku because of the International Conference of Gothic Fashion & All Might Tower.
However, Izuku was unable to go on the road trip because of his training with All Might, but is unable to tell them that so he just makes up an excuse & feels especially guilty about it afterwards because of what happened. Upon learning that the twins' secret was out & that they & the team were on the run, Izuku left too but is captured by Freakshow.
His previous training & experience as a vigilante does lessen the amount of strain on his body & he's able to finish the beach much quicker than in the show. This allows him more time to acclimate to the power of OFA & he doesn't have to rely entirely on the 60 points he got in canon. But that's getting ahead of ourselves.
After that is over, not long after, Dina starts looking to apply to the Hero Course & she's struggling over whether to apply as Fenton or Phantom until she decides to play it safe as Fenton, but that means that she can't go ghost & has to rely on her quirk & her enhanced human capabilities as well as her mother's training. She can make it out to seem like her quirk mutated so that it allowed her to use her healing energy as kinetic energy & increase her physical attributes as well as woke up a dormant regenerative property. These things are at least related enough that she can get away with saying that they're all the same quirk. Even so, she does very well on villain points & racks up with hero points. So, she gets a really high score.
Tucker applies for the Support Course where he actually gets himself a girlfriend in Hatsume. Sam is in Gen Ed, but is determined to make it into the Hero Course through the Sports Festival just to prove she can.
Eventually, during the rest of summer Phantom's caught by Nezu, who'd been studying him ever since he first appeared, & offers him a full scholarship to U.A.'s Hero Course. The little creature knows who his civilian self is & promises not to tell anyone.
By this point, everyone is aware that the ghosts are real ghosts & heroes in Musutafu are required to have at least 1 piece of anti-ecto equipment made by the Fentons & to have basic hunter training (the sort of hero they are tends to determine what sort of anti-ecto weaponry they get; All Might gets Ghost Gloves, Snipe gets an anti-ecto gun, Midnight gets the Jack-o-Ninetails & Fenton Whiplash, that sort of thing; all have thermoses of their own), but even still Phantom & his team are far & above more effective than the Heroes at it & this causes further strain between Heroes & society. Part of why Nezu opted to try & enroll the other twin was to help smooth over this problem at least a little.
At the same time, most Heroes are unable to do much in regards to the regular yuurei & youkai. They can at least knock most youkai out with their quirks, as ones that don't directly affect the quirk factor work just fine, but trying to contain them without specialized equipment that is specifically made to do so, is a fool's errand.
Nezu eventually convinces Danny to attend partially. He gets his parents to let him take classes online, when he's also gonna be attending U.A. as Phantom because he doesn't want anyone to know he's Fenton. So, his regular classes are online & the ones that pertain to heroics & science are at U.A. This allows Danny to better maintain his grades & still be able to go out & fight ghosts.
Danny then informs Nezu of Izuku's analytical abilities & this immediately piques the principle's interest. He eventually takes Izuku on as a personal student, giving him private lessons to improve his analytics. He adores the boy!
Danny & Dina both pass the entrance exam, Danny with a higher score than Bakugo & this tickles the ghostly twins positively pink. They hate that asshole for all the grief he'd given Izuku as much as Danny hated Dash & Dina hated Paulina. Bakugo also picked on Danny & Dash would occasionally mess with Izuku, however it was well-known in Casper that while Danny was considered Dash's punching bag, Izuku's was Bakugo's. Anyway, Bakugo hates the ghost kid for one-upping him. He especially hates that he was hanging out with Deku.
During the exam, Izuku's battle-honed instincts cause him to react immediately when Mic says go & he uses his new quirk to destroy a few robots before saving Uraraka. This lands him third on the board, right behind Bakugo. This only further pisses the pissy little pomeranian off.
By this point, the Phantoms & their Team are famous & is a hot topic of debate & controversy amongst all walks of life, especially teens. Everyone knows that the twins are ghosts (but not that they're Danny & Dina) so they don't know if they should be held to the same standards as humans & be considered vigilantes or not. As the terms 'hero,' 'villain,' & 'vigilante' are all defined, in law, by the use of quirks in this day & age, but only Dina uses her quirk as Phantom & everyone just assumes that it's a ghost power as the Fentons have proven that ghosts can't have quirks because quirks are bound to the organic body.
The same could be said of the human members of Team Phantom. In fact, many of their fans insist that the humans don't seem to use any quirks & only use equipment. As such, they aren't breaking any laws since the law against vigilanteism has long since been redefined to refer to the illigal use of quirks to perform herowork.
As such, even when Team Phantom does involve themselves in herowork, they can't really be arrested because they haven't broken any laws as far as anyone knows. In all honesty, the ones who complain the loudest tend to be corrupt heroes & cops, people involved with the Commission (because they can't control them), the radical left, the media, the Fenton parents, & the GIW. So, basically no one else.
The Fentons are adamant that the Phantom Pair can't be judged by human standards & are simply menaces & pests, but there's much debate over this.
Danny takes Hagakure's place because they have, essentially, the same power, but Danny has even more. So, she ends up in Class 1-B instead.
Because of Izuku having better control of OFA than in canon, Aizawa doesn't feel the need to target him specifically & so Izu scores higher than Kirishima, but lower than Bakugo, who, again, scores lower than Danny.
During the quirk assessment test, it's discovered that, when Phantom put on the school's exercise uniform, that rings automatically appeared around his waist &, initially he panics thinking that he's turning back to a human in front of his classmates until they all realized that the blue in the uniform had just turned black. This puzzled him & Iida scolded him about the uniform policy, but Danny defended himself, saying that he didn't do it intentionally. He tried to make it turn back, but he couldn't before it was time to leave & meet their sensei outside.
Of course, Aizawa noticed immediately & told him to change back, but Danny informed him that it happened automatically upon putting on the gym uniform & he'd been trying to change it back since then. This interested most of the class, especially Izuku, who figured that they should look into this new aspect of Danny's powers later when they had time. He especially wondered why it didn't do the same when he put on the school uniform.
Upon experimenting with this, they discovered that the same happened with Dina & that it only happened when the outfit didn't conform with their ghost form's color scheme & that whatever was determining this must've thought that the school uniform was close enough that it only changed minor details like the color of the tie & the buttons.
This moved on to Team Phantom trying to figure out how to permanently change the twins' costumes for upgraded suits. It was eventually discovered that the Phantoms' suits were part of their ghostly auras. This aura connects the suit to the Phantoms themselves & not only gives the clothes regenerative properties, but even if they're cut off of them, should they transform back into Phantom later, the old suits will disappear & reappear back on them again, good as new.
Also, if they focused on it while holding their new suit, they can shift their aura from their old suit to their new one. This results in the old suits' colors reversing & becoming a normal hazmat again (though, the original suits become fried to a crisp & gives the Team momentary PTSD as they remembered what did that), while the new one takes on Phantom's color scheme & gains the old suits' ghostly properties. Izuku & Dina both find it very interesting.
Either way, Aizawa has to let the matter go. If Phantom can't control it then what can he do?
Anyway, during the USJ, Danny learns that Shigiraki's quirk only works between 25-50% as well on him in ghost form. The reason turns out to be because, in ghost form, a hanyuu's cells are constructed from ectoplasm which works as an alternative to matter. Shigiraki's quirk only works on matter.
So, while it's not as effective on halfas/hanyuu, Danny & Dina have to be careful because it eats away at their human halves while leaving their ghost half in-tact. For whatever reason, their ghostly healing doesn't work as well on areas affected by Shigi's quirk & they're forced to heal at a somewhat regular speed.
Later, the grape shit is transfered out of class for repeated sexual harassment offenses because Danny & Dina make a point to report every offense that they witness & after the Sports Festival, Sam is transferred in to take his place because she got farther than Shinso.
Sam & Shinso become good friends & they end up dating for a while before the Gregor thing. It doesn't last, but they enjoy themselves & it ends amiably between them.
Izuku takes Ochako's words from the beginning of the year to heart & uses "Dekiru" instead of Deku for his hero name.
Neither Danny nor Dina is there for the Stain events, because Danny is working with Ectoplasm to learn how to duplicate because it turns out that Ectoplasm's quirk actually works via ectoplasm, making him ecto-liminal. However, this means that Ectoplasm is practically the only Pro able to do anything about the Eku-Yuurei in the beginning.
As a result, Jack & Maddie are initially suspicious of him for it & demands that he submit to rigorous testing to prove that he really is just a human with an ectoplasm-based quirk rather than a Ghost impersonating a hero or being possessed by one. They also demand to be there for it to make sure there is no ghostly tomfoolery involved & as the people with the most knowledge of Ghosts, they are allowed.
At the same time, because Ectoplasm really is just a human with a ghostly quirk, all tests show this & while it took a while for Jack & Maddie to come to terms with the idea that there are instances where organic matter can interact with ectoplasm without the organic matter breaking down, this means that they aren't as skeptical of the kids having ghost powers once Doctor's Disorders comes around.
Jack is the one who comes around quickest, siting that it opens up so many new possibilities. However, they keep a wary eye on Ectoplasm as they aren't sure if this means that he'll eventually become an obsessive evil monster like other Ghosts. This also interests Izuku & Quirk Researchers as it suggests that quirks can interact with things previously considered myth.
It brings into question whether Ryukyu's transformation quirk is just turning her into something that merely looks like a dragon or if it turns her into an actual dragon. Which, if the former, would indicate that dragons are real!
It turns out that her actual quirk performed something like draconic atavisim on her, turning her into a draconid because she had a dragon ancestor. Learning this, she tries to learn more about this aspect of herself & learns that she has something like aerokinesis & her scales can reflect ectoplasm, giving her some form of defense against Eku-Yuurei.
Despite this, Ectoplasm actually works closely with the Fentons to learn as much as he can about his situation & how best to fight these Eku-Yuurei.
On the other hand, Dina is interning with Recovery Girl & is looking into becoming a Rescue Hero. Because she initially starts off hiding the fact that she's a Phantom, she has to rely on her quirk & physical abilities in order to help out.
Sam, Tucker, Jazz, & Izuku are all ecto-liminal to a degree, Jazz far & above more so than the others, but it doesn't start showing itself until later.
The class does eventually learn about Danny's identity, but not until, like, after they all move into the dorms. As soon as that happens, Dina reveals herself too. Bakugo has a bit of a fit over not only Deku hiding his quirk & mocking him behind his back all those years, but also the twins.
However, that sets both of them off. Dina informs the asshole that not only did they only get their powers a couple years ago, they weren't even a quirk. They're ghost powers that they only got when she & her brother died & were ripped back to life. Danny shows the jerk the massive lichtenberg scars that start from the palm of his hand, goes up his arm before finally ending over his heart. So, Bakugo could fuck the hell off!
A week after the USJ & before the Sports Festival, Dina begins dating Iida for a few years. Which means that Iida gets pretty stressed out when Dina just up & decides to use her quirk on people with particularly severe injuries.
After a very serious talk about this after a near fatal use of her quirk, Dina stops just using it on such severe cases & begins to go through a process where she uses her ghostly healing powers 1st until it's much less severe & has medical assistance on standby before she uses it. This helps to alleviate some of Iida's stress as he knows that he can't stop her from trying to help those in need. She's a hero-in-training afterall.
In case none of you know, this will also be DFO.
---
Instead of moving to Musutafu to become mayor, Vlad just moves there to set up a new branch of his business & uses that as an excuse to keep messing with his little badger & kitten, as well as their little friends.
While Danny is a fan of Thirteen, he isn't as big of one as Uraraka simply because Thirteen, despite being a space-themed Hero is just a Rescue Hero. As such, they don't actually work with JAXA. Like, they support the program, but aren't really trained as an astronaut or astrophysicist or aerospace engineer or anything like that.
If Danny has to be a Pro Hero, he's determined to instead actually work with the Space Program.
Danny, due to his experience helping his parents out around the lab, has a lot of experience with their tech & has quite a natural talent for engineering. This eventually comes to Power Loader's attention & he asks if the kid would be willing to transfer classes, but Danny turns him down. Despite the fact that doing so would give him a leg up on other applicants trying for the Space Program later, Danny feels like he has a responsibility to keep to heroics. Power Loader says that he can dual major later if he gets his grades up. Power Loader himself is a Support Hero after all. If nothing else, Danny should at least consider joining the Support Club as it will also give him credit towards engineering which can be applied to a space-oriented career. The teenage ghost boy said he'd think about it.
Dina, on the other hand, is a major fan of Gang Orca & Selkie.
Many of the teachers recommend several different types of hero work to Danny & Dina, from rescue to underground, because of just how versatile their powers are.
---
Dina actually goes through a series of extreme medical complications starting from the Stain incident & ending after the Overhaul arc.
While she wasn't there for the Stain arc, she was there just after. Seeing how much it hurt Iida to see his brother like that, she offered to try & heal him. While she didn't guarantee that it would work, she at least thought it was a good idea to try.
So excited was Iida that he entirely forgot about the other aspect of her Quirk. Specifically that it was Injury Exchange. It worked, but both Iidas were shocked & terrified when she couldn't get up from the seat she very specifically took before performing the process.
In the end, Iida is extremely grateful, but insanely worried for her health. Luckily, she reminds him that her quirk also has a regeneration aspect to it, which calms both Iidas down somewhat. Iida becomes flustered & lectures her about recklessness. To which Dina replies that recklessness implies that one didn't think things through. To the contrary, she thought quite a lot about the choice, weighing the pros & cons. It's simply that she came to the conclusion that it was worth more to help a hero back onto his feet when she, herself, would recover from those same injuries just fine with a little aid.
Needless to say, Iida was a little blindsided by this explanation & blushed, chastised.
After Kimino Ward, Dina uses her quirk on All Might, surprising & horrifying him as she falls to her knees coughing up blood.
She's rushed to the emergency room.
Toshinori is eternally grateful, but begs her to never do such a thing again. That she shouldn't have done so to begin with. To which, she responds by saying that he spent his whole life giving up everything for society. The least he deserves is to be able to live the rest of his life healthy.
To this, Toshinori is stunned.
As a result of this, she's out of commission for a while until she recovers from losing a lung & her stomach.
When she later hears about Nighteye, she stumbles to his room & does the same, nearly dying again right there, but saving his life.
This is the incident that leads to Iida & her having a serious talk & Dina taking more safe measures when using her quirk on severe injuries.

EVAN BUCKLEY WEEK DAY THREE - “I NEED YOU TO TRUST ME” + HURT
He had posted the pictures on Facebook. He had been expecting the phone call. He just hadn’t thought it would come in the middle of dinner with Bobby and Athena while Eddie and Christopher are there with him.
Buck excuses himself from the table and walks out into the backyard, sliding the door shut behind him. He holds his phone up to his ear. “Hi, mom.”
“Evan, what is this?”
Buck sighs. Proposing to Eddie had been the easiest decision he’s ever made, even though he had been terrified to actually do it. He had known the shit storm from his parents was going to come as soon as he put the pictures up online, but he’s decided that he’s done living his life in fear of what other people might think. It just hurts a little more when the judgement is coming from the people who raised him.
Well, that might be an overstatement. They were at least in the same house.
“I thought the pictures made it pretty clear,” Buck replies, faintly hearing the door slide open and shut behind him and feeling a hand on the small of his back soon after. Eddie. “I’m engaged.”
“To a man, Evan. I mean, is this some kind of cruel joke?”
Eddie inhales sharp and angry next to him, no doubt able to hear his mother through the phone. They share a look before Buck answers. “No, mom. Why would I post something like that as a joke?”
“Why would you post it at all? You don’t need that kind of attention, all those people looking into our lives—”
“I’m pretty sure it’s my life, not yours.” And just like he had in Maddie and Chim’s kitchen, Buck feels like a twelve-year-old again, fighting to deserve a place in the family. A place that had existed once, but not for him. He feels a little braver this time though. He attributes it to the gentle way that Eddie’s hand is keeping him steady. “I’m thirty-one. I’m more than capable of making my own decisions.”
“That’s clearly not true if these are the ones you’re making. Evan, we didn’t even know you were seeing anyone, and now you’re deciding to get married out of nowhere? You have no idea how big of a commitment—”
“I’ve been in love with him for almost five years, mom,” Buck retaliates, and he can’t help the soft way that he says it. He looks over at Eddie and he’s looking at Buck in slight disbelief. Buck assumes that Eddie had guessed that, but Buck has never confirmed it out loud. “It’s not out of nowhere.”
There’s silence on the line for a moment. “We didn’t know.”
The lights click off in the dining room as he shuffles from foot to foot. “That was on purpose. Because I knew you would react exactly like this.”
“And what’s wrong with that?” His mom sounds like she always does, like she can’t believe she could ever be in the wrong about anything. It makes Buck want to crawl into himself and hide as much as it did when he was a kid. “We’re worried about you. You don’t call, you don’t text, and you don’t ever come home for the holidays. What kind of parents do you think that makes us look like?”
Buck holds himself back from being brutally honest in his answer, instead reaching out and holding onto Eddie’s bicep for dear life. “You’re not worried about me. If you were, you would have come to the hospital when I almost died. Twice.”
Eddie whispers next to him. “Buck, you don’t have to have this conversation if you don’t want to. You can hang up.”
Buck shakes his head. He’s not going to win this conversation, but he’s at least going to say his piece. “Listen, mom. I forgave you and dad for the way you treated me growing up. I’m trying to move past the way you hurt me and do better, and it’s working. And sure, part of it is therapy, but another big part of it is Eddie. I need you to trust me and my ability to make decisions for myself, so if you want a place in my life, then you have to be okay with Eddie having a place in it too.”
“Evan—”
“It’s Buck.”
His mother sighs through the phone. “Buck. This… this man, you’re sure you’re ready to commit the rest of your life to him?”
“His name is Eddie,” Buck seethes, gripping Eddie’s arm harder. “And yes, I know, and I’m sure. I’ve never been surer about anything.”
“A marriage takes work, you know.”
“It’s not work to me. Not if it’s him.” His mother doesn’t respond to that, but he hears Eddie’s breath stutter. Buck slides his hand down and Eddie moves his off Buck’s back so they can push their fingers together. “I gotta go. I’m in the middle of dinner with Bobby and Athena, and I’d like to get back to it if you don’t mind.”
A beat of silence. “I just hope you aren’t making a mistake.”
Buck hangs up.
He stares down at his phone in his hand, the screen dark. “Love you too,” he mutters sarcastically.
Eddie turns to him and places his palm on Buck’s cheek, rubbing his thumb soothingly against his cheekbone. “Well, it could have been worse. You spoke very highly though, which I appreciate.”
Buck huffs a breath out. “Well you won’t do it yourself, so I have to do it for you.”
Buck isn’t really expecting it when Eddie leans in and kisses him softly, lingering until Buck feels the itch under his skin he didn’t even realize was there dissipating. When Eddie pulls back, his eyes are shining. “Kinda wish you would have mentioned my stellar ass, though.”
“You’re right, maybe that would have changed her mind.”
The sliding glass door opens and Athena calls out to them. “You boys still hungry? Dinner is cold now, but dessert just finished up if you want to come inside.”
Eddie laughs as Buck tugs him back into the house for dessert, and yeah, Buck never doubted for a second that this man is it for him. Bobby calls Eddie and Christopher into the kitchen to help serve dessert and Athena pulls him aside. “You okay, Buckaroo? I know your family can be frustrating.”
He looks at Athena with her casual concern, at Bobby who is staring at the both of them from over the kitchen island with worry and love on his face, at Eddie who somehow got chocolate frosting on his nose and is making goofy faces at his son. At their son, soon.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” he says, and for once he means it. “I’ve got my real family right here.”

How do you think the 911 characters would react if someone random called them a dilf/milf - I feel like Chimney would be flattered and know what dilf means and he would smirk and say thanks. Eddie to be honest I feel like he either don’t know what dilf even is or he knows and pretends like he doesn’t cause he’s embarrassed that people always view him as this hot dilf. Bobby ? I feel like he would laugh about it. Hen? I feel like if someone called her a milf she would also find it amusing and be flattered. Athena? She’d be like damn right I’m a milf. Karen’s a milf, too btw. Buck? If someone called him a dilf I feel like he would know what it is and would say thanks. He knows he’s attractive and he knows people think he’s hot but not in a cocky way. If someone called Maddie a milf I think she would bust out laughing. Like genuinely. Not because she’s making fun of the person but she just never thought of herself like that and Idk she just thinks it’s sweet someone thinks she’s a milf. That’s it. I just wanna know your opinion on how the 911 characters would react to being called a dilf/milf. This is literally so dumb but it makes me laugh to think about their reactions to this
Ok I love this ask so much!!! Haha I loved your reasoning to each one of them getting called a dilf/milf and I think you’re right on! If I were to guess, this is what I’d thing:
Chim absolutely loves being called a dilf bc he’s a smug bastard who loves when people call him that over them calling Eddie or Buck one. He rubs it in each of their faces and probably keeps a tally over how many times he’s been called one in true Chim fashion.
Maddie enjoys it as much as Chim does. She high fives Chim anytime someone calls either one of them a dilf/milf. They’re that power couple that knows they’re hot and wants others to know it 😂
Bobby is mortified if anyone calls him that. He not only has 2 step children, but he’s like the dad of everyone at the station and he does not tolerate that in any way. No thank you.
Hen will straight up reply with “I sure am thank you for stating the obvious 😏” she will surely embrace it bc she’s a confident queen!
Karen will not be having any of that. She’ll reply with “I’m a mother and I’m married. The only person I wanna fuck is my wife tyvm”. She ain’t here for strangers comments.
Athena will probably have anyone who calls her a milf arrested 😂 I swear I can’t see her accepting anyone calling her that, well.
Eddie, poor precious Eddie, will be all confused like, “uh..thanks?” And turn right around and ask Buck “what the hell is a dilf?” And then when Buck laughs and explains, Eddie will turn beet red and roll his eyes fondly bc he is a father and is under no circumstance looking for fuck anyone.
Buck, our baby Buck who is not technically a dad (he is in my mind) but when someone sees him with Christopher or even Jee Yun and calls him a dilf, he automatically flushed red all over. He does that cute little eyelash flutter thing where he looks down then looks up all puppy like. Those firehose days are so past him but he lowkey enjoys being called a dilf simply bc it implies that he’s a dad and he’s a softy like that.

Buck woke up to the sunlight filtering through the window. The other side of the bed was cold, which meant Eddie had been up for a while. Christopher had stayed the night with his Abuela, so it was just the two of them in the house.
Buck made his way downstairs, where he found Eddie sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in an old LAFD academy shirt. The way the shirt was just slightly too big on him instantly told Buck that it was Buck’s shirt.
“Morning.” Buck said, pouring himself a cup of coffee and sitting down at the table beside Eddie. And yep, there was the “Buckley” in faint print above Eddie’s heart. Buck didn’t miss the way it made his heart flip still, even though they’d been together for 4 years now (and had just gotten married 6 months ago). “Sleep well?”
“Yeah, did you?”
“I did.” Buck said. “That shirt looks good on you.”
Eddie flushed a little. “Oh. Sorry about that. I just grabbed the first one in the drawer. I was trying to not wake you up.”
“Never said I didn’t like it,” Buck leaned across the table and stole a kiss. “Besides, it’s kinda hot to see you wearing my clothes. Not gonna lie.”
Eddie’s cheeks flushed a little. “Noted.”
“I just wish I could wear yours a little more, you know.” Buck said. “You know, without stretching them out.”
“Hey, I love it.” Eddie says. “Besides, most of them I’m not wearing anyway, so it’s not a big deal.” He pauses for a minute before looking at Buck. “You really don’t stretch them out so much. I like seeing you in my things. Gives me those ‘he’s mine’ feelings.”
Buck looked at Eddie. “Noted. I’m taking it you haven’t eaten yet?”
“No.” Eddie said. “Again, trying to not wake you up. The smoke alarm would have defeated that purpose.”
They both shared a laugh. “You’re getting better.” Buck said.
“Maybe I’ll master making a full course meal by the time Christopher graduates college and moves out.” Eddie said.
“I’ll always be here to eat it.” Buck said.
“What are your plans for today?” Eddie asked, changing the subject. He didn’t want to think about Christopher getting too old to need them (which in turn made him think about him and Buck getting older too).
“Didn’t really have any. What you got in mind?”
“Let’s go get Chris and take a family day to the zoo?” Eddie suggested.
“That sounds like a wonderful plan.” Buck said. “You gonna change clothes?”
“Not unless you want me to.” Eddie said. Those words hit Buck like a two by four to the chest. Eddie didn’t have a problem with everyone seeing him out in his husband’s shirt.
“I don’t.” Buck said, coming to sit in Eddie’s lap. “I think that’s really hot actually, and I’ll show you how much I like it later.”
“Or you could now?” Eddie asked. “I mean, since our son will be here tonight and we can’t do all the things we want to do to each other…”
“Ok, bedroom.” Buck didn’t need to think twice.
A little while later, they were both fully showered and on their way to get Christopher (Buck had found one of Eddie’s old academy shirts too and put it on- they almost weren’t able to make it out of house when Eddie realized that; Buck had promised Eddie a reward though if he was good during the outing).
They were at the zoo when they ran into Hen, Karen, and Denny. Karen and Hen shared knowing looks with each other after seeing the shirts, but they didn’t say anything (Hen just raised her eyebrows at Buck, who grinned like the cat that had eaten the canary). It was Christopher who came up with the zinger that made them all laugh until their sides hurt.
“My dads are a married couple who wear each other’s clothes in public.” He said, looking at Denny. “They are so gross, even if they think it’s cute.”
Buck was wheezing looking at Eddie, who looked scandalized at his son thinking he was gross. Karen and Hen were laughing so hard they were crying.
“Get used to it son.” Buck teased Christopher, ruffling his hair. “Because we are so that married gross couple. You just wait. There’s more to come.”
“Argh!” Christopher threw up his hands in fake disgust. “I can’t even with you two right now. Come on Denny.” The two boys went walking ahead of the group; the four adults broke into another round of laughter, and then Karen and Hen went with the boys, leaving Eddie and Buck by themselves for a minute.
“Eds, you know Chris is kidding, right?” Buck asked, seeing Eddie still looking like Christopher’s words were weighing on his mind.
“Yeah,” Eddie said. “But what if he isn’t? What if sharing clothes really does bother him?”
“We’ll talk with him when we get home, ok? This isn’t the place for it. If he’s not ok with it, we can stop. But that’s a family conversation. Now, let’s go catch up with them.”
“Alright.” Eddie said. He tried to put on a face that made it look like the scene that had just happened was all in his head, but he knew Buck could see right through it. Especially when Buck grabbed his hand and held on tight.
The rest of the trip passed by in a flash (not quick enough, if Eddie was being honest; he just wanted to get home and talk to his son); when they were home, the first thing Eddie did was go into the bedroom and grab one of his old army shirts and put it on. He didn’t miss the way Buck’s face fell. He really felt bad when Buck didn’t say a word and changed his own shirt as well.
“Christopher, can you come in here for a second?” Eddie asked; Christopher came into the living room to find Eddie and Buck sitting on opposite ends of the couch.
“What’s up?” Christopher asked.
“Sit down.” Christopher took the space in between Eddie and Buck; this seemed like a serious conversation.
“Did you really mean what you said today at the zoo?” Eddie asked. “Where we grossed you out by wearing each other’s clothes.”
“Dad,” Christopher groaned. “Of course I didn’t. You know I’m going through my ‘you guys are my parents and everything you do is embarrassing’ phase. Wait,” Christopher paused. “You really thought…”
“Yeah.” Eddie said.
“Dad, no. I love you and Buck so much. I love that he makes you happy and you make him happy.” Christopher said.
“See Eddie? I told you our son was just kidding.” Buck said. He turned and looked at Christopher. “Your dad here was worried we were being too much for you and that you really meant what you said.”
“Never.” Christopher said, leaning over and giving Eddie a hug. “I love you dad.”
“Love you too buddy.” Eddie said.
***
“See?” Buck said as they climbed into bed that night. “Using your words gets you the answers you need instead of just assuming the worst is happening.”
“Fine. You win this time.” Eddie said, turning in Buck’s arms so they were chest-to-chest. “But you get to deal with him during his horrible teenage tantrums.”
“Oh no you don’t,” Buck laughed. “Those are all you. Besides, I can already see him yelling at me that I’m not his real dad.” Oh shit, I didn’t mean to say that last sentence out loud.
Eddie sat up so fast he almost connected with Buck’s chin. “Don’t you dare say that.”
“Eds, it’s the truth. I’m not. No matter how much you or he say I am. I’ve seen it before- I’ve done it before. I told Maddie she wasn’t my mom so many times, even though she was the one basically raising me.” Buck said. “It’s a part of it.”
Eddie thought back to his own teen years and the fights he and his parents would have. “I know. I just… I need you here as my partner through it.”
“I will be. I’m not going anywhere.” Buck promised. “I just can’t promise I won’t panic or won’t react when it does happen.”
“We’ll get there when we do.” Eddie said. “We still got a couple years left. For now, let’s just be the embarrassing parents.”
“I can settle for that.” Buck said. “Come on back down here. I was comfortable.”
“I was too.” Eddie agreed, letting his head slide back down onto Buck’s shoulder. “I love you.”
“Love you too.”
In the morning, when Buck had waffles on the griddle, Eddie knew it was a peace offering for last night. He didn’t say a word though; he just went and got Christopher out of bed and downstairs, and that’s when he realized Buck was wearing his old Army t-shirt. The one that had always been slightly big on Eddie. It fit Buck perfectly though. And seeing his own last name splayed across Buck’s back did some things that Eddie couldn’t talk about (or do) in front of Christopher. Buck seemed to know what Eddie was thinking though, because he mouthed, “Later”.
Eddie had married the best person ever. That was his story, and he was sticking to it.

All Too Well
Pairing: Evan “Buck” Buckley/Eddie Diaz Rated: General Contains spoilers from season 5 episode 2: Desperate Times
Summary: “Is that enough?”
Buck spits the words right back, more venom that Eddie could have tried to muster. He doesn’t mean to. He really doesn’t. If anything, he had tried to keep his emotions at bay the second Ana’s name lingered between them.
But he does.
Because if that’s enough for Eddie, why doesn’t he love Buck?
Or a look inside Buck's head during their panic attack talk.
(read on ao3)
Buck has never been one to hesitate before talking to his best friend, but he sees Eddie with an arm over his face, lying down for the first time since Ana and Christopher left, and his feet feel like they’re stuck to the floor.
He takes a few deep breaths, preparatory, anxiety-reducing, reminders that he’s breathing and that his best friend is hurting. He’s the one to make things better, to get Eddie through everything, so why is he hesitating?
“Hey, are you sleeping or just pretending?”
He knows the answer but is grateful when Eddie actually speaks.
“I was actually trying to until you interrupted.”
Sarcasm, that’s— good. Buck isn’t sure when sass and thinly veiled annoyance became good but he isn’t about to overthink it like he has been for the last hour.
“I’m exhausted,” Buck offers. He thinks that maybe if he shares something small, Eddie might be willing to give in return. “Uh, how are you feeling?”
Buck knows the answer to this question, too, and he finds himself secretly hoping Eddie answers in sarcasm so he can truly convince himself that things are okay, that his hesitation was unwarranted.
“Hot,” Eddie drawls, “I’m sweating out of places I didn’t know I could.”
Well, Buck did ask for sarcasm. He didn’t expect the glint of arousal to strike through him like lightning, though.
Or the quick jolt of panic as he rakes his eyes over Eddie’s body for nothing other than symptoms, an indication of what might be wrong because, for the first time since he’s met Eddie, he doesn’t know.
“Not like a cold sweat though, right? Any chest pains?”
Buck yearns to reach out, to feel Eddie’s pulse in his wrist, press a palm over his forehead to check for a fever. Hell, he would go grab a blood pressure cuff and EKG monitor from the ambulance if Hen and Chim wouldn’t yell at him. Buck considers it more than he should because he needs to know that Eddie’s really okay before he drives himself crazy.
Eddie just stares, unimpressed.
“You don’t give up, do you?”
Nope, Buck thinks, though he wouldn’t risk saying it out loud. After a long exasperated sigh, Eddie relents, “I’m fine, Buck.” Like Buck is actually supposed to believe him or something.
“People who are fine don’t go and see cardiologists,” Buck responds.
He’s clutching the clipboard in his lap a little too tight and he feels it. The way his knuckles burn, the way his fingertips crease the papers he’s been pretending to focus on all day. He hopes Eddie doesn’t notice. He hopes that he does.
Because Eddie is a lot of things, but he isn’t oblivious. That oblivious. Buck sighs.
“You need to tell me if something is wrong,” Buck finally says.
It’s not a request, it’s an order. One that he’s not sure Eddie will follow, but one that he hopes will get the point across.
Because Buck is scared.
He’s been terrified ever since Eddie’s blood splattered all over his face, since he watched the nurses shove a tube down his throat and make no promises. Since Eddie sat beside him, alive and well, and trusted him with the most important thing in his life—in Buck’s life.
That fear has only risen ever since he saw the way Ana smiled up at him during his welcome home and the way Eddie grinned right back, the smile Buck had too long convinced himself was his own. How comfortable she looked mixed in with his family, the family Buck started to consider his.
He’s scared because he’s never felt so much, so strongly for another person since— No, that’s not right. He’s never felt this way about anyone .
Eddie isn’t just another person to destroy him, another partner to tell lies and fall away. He isn’t going to be replaced in Eddie’s life just because he has someone else, someone who might know what’s going on in his head and doesn’t have to demand an answer.
Eddie is different, he always has been. And Buck has to hold onto that.
He does even when Eddie speaks again.
“It was a panic attack, not a heart attack,” Eddie sighs as he sits up. Buck knows he’s irritated but he can’t bring himself to care. He has always mildly irritated Eddie, why should this time be any different?
Actually, he finds himself gripping even tighter at the clipboard—at hope— when Eddie admits to it.
Panic. Of all the things Buck thinks Eddie is going to say, panic isn’t one of them.
“Since when do you panic?”
Then he considers the number of times he’s woken up in sweat-soaked sheets that felt too much like Eddie’s blood and tears in his eyes that he can’t seem to wipe away fast enough as they burn his cheeks. The pain of his sobs that still tear through him when he remembers the lost look on Eddie’s face in the firetruck, asking if Buck was okay like it mattered. The feeling of failure when Christopher’s hand patted softly at his shoulder.
“That’s what I said.”
Something flashes in Eddie’s eyes that looks like surprise, realization, but Buck pushes it aside. He can’t cling to hope too tightly. He knows how that works out for him in the end.
“I don’t panic,” Eddie huffs and then exhales, “except I did.”
“Okay, well, what triggered it?” Buck lists off the reasons for his own panic, expecting a match, but Eddie doesn’t stop him to agree.
He stops him to argue and it isn’t what Buck expects.
“That wasn’t it,” Eddie interrupts exasperatedly. “If I’m being honest with myself, I—”
When has Eddie ever been dishonest with himself?
“I think it was Ana.”
Ana. The name that spirals in Buck’s mind too often when he has to remind himself that Eddie isn’t his. The name that only passes his lips drenched in sarcasm or malice or a thin veil of hope when he doesn’t think too much about what he is saying.
The name that sparks nerves, anxiety, fear, dread, confusion—
Panic.
“Uh,” Buck stutters, hoping his heart beating out of his chest isn’t obvious, “I thought things were great with Ana.”
He watched Eddie kiss her on the cheek during her surprise visit, watched as Christopher hoped out loud for a new mom, a wife for his father. Sure, he didn’t react exactly how Buck had expected, but he didn’t seem to panic.
Or he did and Buck was too focused on his own misery to truly see it.
“She’s been a godsend through all of this, staying with Christopher, but… I think that’s what’s causing the panic.”
He sounds so sure, so confident that there couldn’t be anything else, which is the Eddie that Buck remembers. Buck isn’t sure it’s the Eddie he wants to see at this moment, though. He wants to see Eddie happy, Eddie making plans for his future, Eddie beaming at the thought of being in love with a perfect person, the one that Ana seems to be. He wants Eddie to feel the joy that comes from spending time with him, the way Buck does.
“Somehow we became a ready-made family and I don’t know if I’m ready for that.”
He says the other word that haunts Buck’s nightmares.
Buck always thought he knew what family meant, what family was supposed to be, then his parents stopped caring. Then Maddie left and he was all alone. He thought he had found his family at the one-eighteen soon after and he was happy. God, was he happy, for the first time since he could remember.
Then he met Eddie.
Then he met Christopher.
How defines his family is a little cloudy now.
“So what are you gonna do?”
And isn’t that the question of the day, the minute, the seconds that he spends gripping onto the clipboard in front of him to keep his hands from reaching, comforting, desiring.
Eddie shakes his head.
“I’m just gonna stick it out. Ana’s been the first woman I’ve wanted to spend this much time with since Shannon…”
“Stick it out?”
Buck flashes back to his own attempt at sticking it out. Convincing himself that eventually, Eddie will realize what they mean to each other. His plans to stick it out even if it meant he wouldn’t be as happy as he could be, had pretended he deserved to be. He was going to stick it out because he would have Eddie in whatever way he could.
“That’s not how you talk about someone you’re in love with.”
Buck’s not sure if he’s talking to himself or Eddie anymore.
“My kid loves her,” Eddie shoots back, heat in his voice that doesn’t match the worry on his face.
Buck’s not sure if he’s talking to himself or Buck anymore.
“Is that enough?”
Buck spits the words right back, more venom that Eddie could have tried to muster. He doesn’t mean to. He really doesn’t. If anything, he had tried to keep his emotions at bay the second Ana’s name lingered between them.
But he does.
He wants to grab Eddie’s shoulders, shake them until his brain wobbles into sense, kiss him and mutter the words back to him a million times over.
Because if that’s enough for Eddie, why doesn’t he love Buck?
Is that enough? Is that enough for you to love me back? Is that enough for you to spend the rest of your life with me instead? For me to stop pretending anyone else is going to be a better fit for me than you?
Because I love your kid more than anyone in the world, Eddie, and if that’s enough, then…
Why not me?
Eddie’s silent for a moment too long, a second prolonged into a minute, that might have lasted forever if Buck didn’t break it.
“Eddie, I’ve been Ana. I know what it’s like to be in love with someone who’s not all the way in.”
He thinks of his parents first. Then he thinks of Abby. Even Ali flashes through his tired mind.
But nothing lingers like Eddie. Nothing has ever lingered like Eddie.
“Deep down you know it and it hurts. It hurts worse than the truth.”
Buck’s lived through a lot of truths. His parents creating him for spare parts, Abby leaving him and not looking back, Ali unable to handle the one thing he loves most in the world— loved most in the world, past tense because there are two things, two people , that have that title now.
He’s lived through being in love with his best friend, his best friend’s family, his best friend’s son. He knows what it’s like to hold onto that hope that maybe, just maybe, someone won’t abandon him, someone won’t think he’s not enough. He has held onto the hope that someone loves him—not in the way he wants, but loves him just the same.
Briefly he wonders if knowing Eddie doesn’t love him back would hurt more than not knowing.
Buck shakes his head instead of saying any of his thoughts out loud.
“So if you don’t wanna hurt Ana, you owe it to her to be honest.”
Buck isn’t sure whether he’s talking to himself or to Eddie.
“It just feels like a lot, man.”
And Buck? He knows the feeling all too well.

So, I deleted what I posted last of the first chapter of my Rederina fic as it didn’t feel right, the characters didn’t feel Authentic. I re-wrote and I feel much better about this version so I thought I would share.
For Elizabeth Keen it has been a long few days, a long few weeks, but as she stares at a beautiful piece of art, with the man she knows as Raymond Reddington sitting next to her, some of the stress, and pain, of the last few weeks steps away; while her desire for answers remains all to noticeable.
“It really is exquisite, in it’s way,” Reddington says, putting the casket into it’s own little bag, and Liz can’t help but role her eyes.
“It’s exquisite because of what you know about it, where it came from, who made it, it’s intellectual, I prefer art that’s more emotional,” Liz says, there being a double meaning to her words.
“The forger certainly played on our emotions,” Reddington comments, and Liz realizes that this is the opportunity she has been waiting for, but she has no idea if she is going to take Ressler’s advice.
“The forger, the one you found but won’t turn over to us,” Liz comments.
“The counterfeits are nearly flawless, which is enough,” Reddington comments. “Because our desire for them to be real obscures any imperfection,” Reddington says. “Much like your desire for the women in Paris to be your mother blinded you to the fact that she wasn’t,” Reddington says as he needs Liz to understand, to know, that the women she believed was Katarina wasn’t.
“It wasn’t just my desire,” Liz comments.
“So, she told you she was Katarina,” Reddington says, being both glad to know exactly what Tatiana told Liz, and also extremely worried as he knows what it could lead to.
“She did, and its difficult for me to believe she wasn’t because while I don’t understand everything it made sense, everything she said,” Liz comments, wanting to give Reddington one more chance to tell her the truth she is so desperate for before she does what she has to do if he doesn’t.
“Elizabeth, she wasn’t your mother,” Reddington says, needing her to believe that, and Liz can’t help but be annoyed by the fact that his voice is completely calm.
“How are you so sure?” Liz asks, an edge to her voice and realizing that she has nothing to lose Liz decides to be honest because maybe, just maybe, if she is honest with Reddington then he will be honest with her and finally tell her the truth she so desperately desires. “Because I know you’re not Ilya Koslov, or the real Raymond Reddington,” Liz says, revealing what Reddington desperately hoped she didn’t know. “So who are you to her that allows you to know the truth no one else does?” Liz asks as it doesn’t make sense to her. “Who are you to my family that causes my grandfather to lie to ME about who you are?” Liz asks, her voice becoming more angry and more upset.
“Elizabeth…” Reddington starts to say, using the tone which tells Elizabeth he isn’t going to tell her anything.
“No…. I’m done,” Elizabeth says, surprising herself with her words and causing Dembe to look at Reddington through the rear view mirror. “Seven years ago, you walked into my life and offered me crumbs and nothing but vague answers about who you are and I’m sick of it,” Liz admits, while she is surprised by her own words it doesn’t make them any less true.
“You don’t know what these questions will lead to, you cannot imagine the danger you, and Agnes will be in if the wrong people learn the truth,” Reddington says to Liz as he needs her to see that everything he is doing is for her protection.
“That’s my point, so many people have been killed and hurt,” Liz says annoyed, with pain in her voice. “I don’t want the truth because just because I’m curious I want to know so I know what I’m, what we’re, up against,” Liz explains.
“I can protect you,” Reddington tells Liz as that is what he has spent the last thirty years making sure of.
“We both know that’s not always true,” Liz tells Reddington. “I care about you, even without knowing who you are you are family to me, and I love having you in my life, but I can’t handle the lies and secrets anymore; I don’t want them, and I don’t want them around Agnes,” Liz admits. “I let Maddy Toliver get close to my daughter, and if she’s not my mother then I put Agnes in incredible daughter because I didn’t know the truth, isn’t that exactly what you want to protect me and Agnes from?” Liz says, trying to use Reddington’s own logic to realize just what his secrets are doing.
“Elizabeth…” Reddington says, once more trying to get Liz to understand that he keeps the secrets he keeps for a reason.
“I know you say it’s dangerous, but doesn’t everything that just happened prove that those dangers are already here?” Liz asks, making an extremely good point not that Reddington wants to admit that. “I can’t protect myself, or my daughter, if I continue to be in the dark,” Liz says, bringing up Agnes partly because she knows that, despite everything, Reddington does care about her. “Ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s not protection,” Liz says. “So, I am asking, begging for the truth, or this... you being in my life, is done,” Liz reveals, not realizing how much her words hurt, while Dembe wishes he could tell the truth Reddington refuses to. “That’s something I really don’t want, but I will if I have to,” Liz admits. “I will say goodbye to you, and the taskforce to find out the answers to the questions you refuse to answer, no matter where they take me,” Liz admits, as she realizes that she can’t just wait for someone to tell her the truth anymore, she has to find it herself.
“Elizabeth, when I say you cannot comprehend the danger the truth will bring I mean it, you go down that path and it only ends one way,” Reddington reveals. “I have the spent the last thirty years doing everything to make sure that does not happen,” Reddington explains.
“Why? Explain it to me so I don’t have to find answers on my own, so I don’t go down that path, so that I don’t bring that danger down on us,” Liz requests, deciding that this is Reddington’s last chance to tell her the truth, if he doesn’t she will do whatever she has to do to find answers on her own. “Why are we in danger? how are you so sure that the women from Paris, Maddy Toliver, isn’t my mother? How do you know she’s not Katarina Rostova?” Liz asks, and as he looks at her face Reddington realizes that Liz is serious about what she is saying, and that this one moment could undo everything he spent thirty years doing. So, against every single one of his instincts Reddington knows there is only one thing he can do; even if it’s the last thing he wants.
“Because I am,” Reddington says, saying the words he never intended to say.
For the last seven years Elizabeth has considered many possibilities about who Reddington is, but as he finally gives her the answer she has wanted for so long it’s not one she ever considered, and is certainly not one she was ready for.
“What? No…. it can’t be,” Liz says, having no idea what to believe as logically it makes more sense for Maddy Toliver to be her mother, but at the same time it also makes perfect sense.
“It is,” Reddington says, realizing that Liz is so shocked that she is not truly reacting to what he is saying, not comprehending it. While he is unsure that it is a good idea Reddington knows there is something he can say to help Liz believe the truth. “When you were a child, before the fire, we were at the Summer Palace, we were in the garden. I told you to bring me some treasures, I was digging the hole when you ran up towards me,” Reddington explains. “I said, ‘There you are, did you bring some treasures? Oh, these are beautiful, this is a time machine, one day you will come back here, open it, and remember me,’” Reddington says, switching to Russian as he speaks the words he said all those years ago as he hopes that, even with a lot of Liz’s memories being removed, that it will be enough to remind Liz of something only the two of them know.
“I remember that… remember my mother saying that to me,” Liz says, tears coming to her eyes as she never told anyone what she remembered, as she searches for her mother’s face in Reddington’s.  “How… Dom said…” Liz starts to say, trying to make sense of everything.
“What he wanted you to believe,” Reddington reveals. “Most of what Dom told you was the truth, except when it came to my identity,” Reddington explains. “He told you want he wishes was real, he could never fully accept the truth,” Reddington admits, admitting what is painful for him. “He told you that I was Ilya rather than the truth that the daughter he… so dearly loved, but could never full accept, changed everything about herself,” Reddington explains.
“I don’t understand, how? Why? How would you do it? Why would you do it?” Elizabeth asks, as she needs to understand what is going on and she just can’t make it make sense, can’t make her mind work to put the pieces together.
“It’s a long story,” Reddington admits. “One full of ambition and hope, love, and loss,” Reddington explains. “And I will tell you the whole thing when you’re ready to hear it,” Reddington tells Liz, as he can see that she is becoming overwhelmed, who once more feels anger rise up inside of her.
“I think we both know that I am beyond ready to hear it,” Liz tells Reddington.
“You’re not as ready as you think,” Reddington admits as that he can see. “I can see it in your eyes, you’re not sure if you can believe what I’m saying, and I understand that,” Reddington reveals.  “When you’re ready to listen and have an open mind I will tell you everything,” Reddington says as he knows that now that he has told Elizabeth his identity, he needs to tell her everything, but he also knows that he cannot do so before Elizabeth is ready to truly listen to everything he needs to say.
“When? When do you think I will be ready?” Liz asks, as she feels that she is ready now, but she also can’t deny that it is a lot to comprehend.
“That’s up to you,” Reddington admits, and Liz can’t help but roll her eyes. “I have some business to attend to for the next few days, but I’ll be back in time for Agnes’s performance,” Reddington reveals.
“You’re coming?” Liz asks, not even surprised that he knows about it.
“I wouldn’t miss it,” Reddington assures Liz. “Elizabeth, even if you don’t see me I will be there, and we can talk when you’re ready to put aside everything you think you know and listen to the truth; listen to my story,” Reddington explains, as Dembe stops the car outside of Elizabeth’s apartment.
“I can do that,” Liz says as she isn’t overly sure she knows anything anymore. “But I need you to promise me something,” Liz admits. “Promise me that you won’t just disappear into the shadows, promise me that when I come to you ready to hear the truth you will give it to me, no more talk about danger and protection,” Liz requests.
“I can’t talk about one without the others,” Reddington admits. “But I promise Elizabeth, I will not disappear, I will tell you everything,” Reddington says, meaning his words completely, and to his surprise Liz reaches over and puts her hand over his hands, and even though it is just for a few fleeting seconds it means a lot to Reddington.
“Have a safe trip,” Liz says to Reddington. “Both of you,” Elizabeth says, looking at Dembe.
“Thank you, Elizabeth,” Dembe responds and Elizabeth gets out the car.
As Liz gets out the car, she feels unsteady on her feet. For so long she has been wanting the truth about who Reddington is and now that she’s gotten it there is a part of her that isn’t sure she can believe it, but at the same time there is a part of her that desperately wants to. While she is uncertain about so many things, in this moment as she stands on the side walk, Liz is sure of one thing, and one thing only, and that’s that she wants to see her daughter.
“You did the right thing,” Dembe says as he and Reddington watch as Elizabeth finally walks inside.
“Did I? To protect Elizabeth I may have just put her in the crosshairs,” Reddington comments, doubting if he made the right decision.
“Raymond we both know she was already in the crosshairs, now that she knows the truth she can prepare,” Dembe points out.
“We should go,” Reddington says as he isn’t sure he wants to talk about this right now, even with Dembe. “We have a plane to catch,” Reddington says as he stares out the window and Dembe pulls away from the curb.

*warning there will be spoilers*
.
.
.
.
I love fezcos grandma. I love fezco and baby Ash. Aw my babies are so cute.
Come thru soundtrack also this is already very different than season 1 in terms of its more grounded.
Everyone i know whose grown up this way has amazing life skills but it isn't healthy in the end. It ends up messing them up a lot and honestly he could have called the cops and been like my grandma passed out outside.
His grandma would have tripped that fucker down the stairs.
God dammit Ash. He should not have killed mouse sigh but also it was justified.
Tumblr media
At least Rue is a complete vibe. Ew not the Tapout shirt eww, ayy new girl.
Rue said girl im just tryna snort drugs I'm not tryna inject this shit. That girl bout dumb as shit, exactly now you look stupid as hell and are caught the hell up.
Oh wow they got a Fezco type of Grandma on their end too.
The way drug dealers will let you just put back on your clothes after they check or they spray ya ass with water. Just take the damn clothes off yall taking all this damn time.
Rue is really out here like I had the best time of my life girl that was not a woo-hoo moment but she copes with trauma with humor.
Nate you piece of literal shit, I swear this boy is 🤢🤢.
Tumblr media
I love the use of film cameras so far and the texture it gives to everything.
I know these two are gonna fuck but how stupid are they. Maddy is gonna beat her ass and I mean straight up knock the dog shit out of her one day.
I really don't want these two to date cause he's an adult and she's a minor.
Rue is making me yell out loud "I hate gay people" just go the fuck inside and tell her you like her. But nah let's shoot up heroin for the first time. It will give her confidence but she really doesn't need another fix.
Tumblr media
Everytime Jules sees Nate she wants to get blackout drunk. Ughhhhh.
These two bouta become addict bestfriends, thats gonna end awful.
Karma is a bitch and Cassie deserves every bit of it. Maddy deserves every bit of revenge tbh.
At least Rue knows what to take to do push off certain side effects but this is so fucked up to do to Elliot. He can be hugh but he's not signing up to be a harm reductionist and her depressed ass is very nihilist.
Aw Fezco the Christian thug, I kill people and sell drugs in the name of the lordt.
Where is Jules going? Ah yo go talk to Kat.
Tumblr media
Maddy and Travis look hella cute. Ooo I like these two together.
Cassie got lucky as all hell and now her ass is stumbling all over the place looking dumb as fuck. "I did everything I could." Nah you havent you just fucked over your "bestfriend" tbh both of yall did.
Hey hey Ethan get you ya lil girlfriend ayyy. Ah Jules got left to the side and is gonna stumble on her own honey and it could go awfully.
Sigh here we go again these two on the couch like this is some k.i.s.s.i.n.g, he's an adult bruh noooo i really hate this Fez and Lexi thing.
Tumblr media
BE SINGLE CASSIE BE SINGLE omfg girl. This secret is gonna eat her up on the inside entirely though for a long while until it finally comes out.
Rue is high as a fucking kite but she also may be pissed off.
Nate is gross as hell just nasty and is being all possessive and shit. This is weird and oddly homoerotic this encounter with McKay like um bro chill. Nate back the hell up you only had sex with his ex once and now you acting like an entire feral dog peeing on your territory. Weird ass.
Tumblr media
How is she doing? Uh not well. Be honest Rue it's what yall both deserve. I'd rather know my person is on drugs again than them hide it. Jules has to understand it isn't her fault though that Rue relapsed.
Shes 17 bro.
Fezco look good as hell getting ready to fight and I hope he beats the fuck out of Nates chiseled ass face. This is very calculated though.
Rue take ya ass inside and get a new years kiss. Jules is heartbroken as hell and you need to talk.
Aw yay at least my babies get one happy moment. They are girlfriends or dating yayy, I just wanted one of these happy moments
Tumblr media
Where is fez with the bottle, please beat his smug ass. Yesss yesss beat his bitch ass. This is so satisfying.
Tumblr media
What a good season 2 premiere i like how this is different from season 1 but similar. My friends theory is Nate is going to kill Cal or vice versa based on what he sees in the hospital. I could see it. Only thing that could have made that better is for Jules, Rue, and everyone else to get a kick in or beat his ass along with Fez.

Shielded From The Truth
Cross posted on A03: https://archiveofourown.org/works/30441042 -.-.-.-.- Warnings: Mild wounds. Number two in the phic phight! When his parents put a shield up around Casper high to keep the ghosts out, and it means that Danny’s day hardly goes to plan. And he was so close to being on time for once too…. PHIC PHIGHT 2021 For team ghost! -.-.-.-.-.- Prompt by: Silverwing013 Danny's parents have kindly offered to set up a ghost shield generator for Casper High. Hijinks ensue as Danny attempts to handle the situation.
-.-.-.-.-.-
Danny groaned as he only half listened to his parents rattle off whatever ghost nonsense they were going on about as he ate his breakfast. A bowl of dry cereal because the milk was contaminated and he really didn’t want to chance it giving him more than a stomach ache. This had become the norm this week it seemed as his parents seemed invested more than usual into the ghost shields that they had been working on and improving.
Why only shields? They would be installing one in the school soon… but beyond that? He wasn’t sure. They probably told him, sure, but being a teenager and one that had parents that hated half of him, had the effect of making him only lightly listen to the weapons and things that were meant to fully kill him off. That and at least the ghost shields weren’t usually a hindrance to him, in fact, they had proven themselves useful on a few occasions.
Plus he had the added advantage of being able to simply return to his human form and slip through the shield with little issue. Given his parents had no knowledge of half ghosts existing, at least he hoped not, they shouldn’t be designing a ghost and human shield. After all, that would defeat the purpose, right? It wasn’t as if Amity really had any human threats anymore.
Well, regardless of the eccentricities of his parents he could at least take some comfort in the fact that Skulker couldn’t simply attack the school to get to him any longer.
Small mercies he supposed.
Danny blinked as his father said something to him before slapping him on his back causing the teen to practically choke on his cereal from the force of the smack. “Isn’t that just great Dann-o?” the large man exclaimed happily before looking at his son expectantly. Oh great, he wanted him to ask something? Great.
“S-Sure” Danny choked out as he flailed, grabbing in front of him for the orange juice he had nabbed from the fridge, it thankfully hadn’t been in there long enough to start glowing… yet…
He shook his head as he finally got his breath back without inhaling dry cereal pieces into his lungs. When he was sure he wasn’t going to sound like some dollar store squeaky toy he tried to ask his parents a question, always a dreadful time if he were honest, but hey, he would usually be late for school anyway.
“So this will go around the whole school?” Danny tried weakly.
“Yep! And the best part is it’ll sense where there's an evil ectoplasmic entity nearby and spring up instantly! We made sure there won’t be a ghost within Twenty feet of the school before that puppy jumps up to the rescue! Like a big Fenton airbag!” Jack exclaimed all too enthusiastically for what the current time in the AM should allow a normal person to exhume.
Danny hummed noncommittally and sent a glance of ‘help me’ to his sister, who, in turn, rolled her eyes at her little brother. “And the shield even uses the ghost’s power to run the shield right?” Jazz asked side eyeing her father from her own spot not wanting to fully engage in the conversation they were having.
“Oh, yea! That’s the best part!” Jack practically cheered out.
“And the stronger the evil skum is the faster the shield will react and sooner it will be picked up. It will only go off on a level three or higher.” Maddie explained with a pleasant smile as she sips at her coffee.
“And we got it all finished last night to be ready for you kids today” Jack added happily.
“Hooray, more fun on a Monday” Danny sighed out into his last bites of cereal. Jazz snorted but didn’t comment, though Danny blew her a childish raspberry.
Jack continued to go on about the more intricate details of the shield they had put up though only one thing really caught his attention in the spiel, “-And Vladdie helped with the funding to outfit the school! Even helped us get the materials we needed to make such a large shield!”
“Ah, there it is…” Danny groaned letting his head fall forward onto the table in instant defeat.
“Danny! I really wish you would learn not to stay up so late playing video games! Look at you! If I get another call from one of your teachers about you sleeping in class-” Maddie started only for Danny to cut her off jumping to his feet.
“Yep! Thanks for that, mom! Look at the time! Love you bye!” Danny prattled off quick as could be before grabbing his book bag by his feet and bolting like a scared rabbit. After all, if his mother never finished that sentence when he inevitably fell asleep he couldn’t be grounded… she never officially gave him the last warning…
That’ll work, right?
It wasn’t long when he was out of the house that he was at his usual waiting spot for Sam and Tucker. Unsurprisingly, Sam got there first though they didn't have to wait long for Tucker to lumber forward, half asleep to his friends, and together they made their way towards the school as a unit.
Things seemed well enough until he got onto the stairs leading up to the main doors. That was when all hell broke loose. A deep alarm sounded before his father’s voice rang out from the speakers, in his over the top cheery way that only Jack Fenton knew how to pull off.
“Attention kids! Guess there’s an evil spook nearby so we’re deploying the shield! This ghost protection was brought to you by Fenton-works and sponsored by your mayor!”
Danny frowned. “My ghost sense didn’t go off…” He mentioned quietly to his friends.
“Maybe the shield sensors are more sensitive than you are?” Tucker asked with a frown.
“Since when?” Sam argued incredulously.
“Well who or whatever it is, it isn’t bothering me right now and no one’s screaming, no one’s panicking, so it can wait. I’m actually going to be on time for once!” Danny says waving the notion off.
He continues his trek up the stairs and towards the doors of the school, though when he reaches the threshold of the shield he finds himself having to really push hard against the thing. It was like hitting a wall of foam or Jell-O. He could push through if he pressed hard enough but it was not pleasant or as easy as going through the air.
Once through the initial shield wall, he blinked slowly feeling sluggish and as though all his limbs were moving through water. He even sort of felt like he was having to ‘swim’ as he walked like he was both heavier and lighter than he should be, but unable to find that buoyancy happy middle ground.
“Dude…” Tucker said smartly as he frowned at his friend’s almost slow motion, yet stop motion like movements. It was eerie, to say the least, not to mention the more pressing issue that he noticed right off the hop, “Your eyes are shining, man. And your, um… Neck...”
Sam, ever prepared for whatever bull their lives seem to throw their way, slipped her bag around to her front and offered Danny a pair of sunglasses, which the halfa put on promptly, along with the spider webbed patterned black and silver scarf.  “I mean, it’s better,” Sam argued, not even giving Tucker's look of disapproval her full attention.
“They’re spider glasses.” The boy states with a shake of his head. “Not really digging the whole-” Tucker waved his arm about Danny’s head in little circles, “-pseudo goth thing” he finished finally. Though he had to admit it was at least marginally better than seeing his friend’s glowing eyes and the electric scars showing up on his neck and disappearing under his shirt collar.
“Better?” Danny asked out sluggish, his voice almost sounding like it was being drawn out on a tape deck that was starting to lack battery power and not playing at quite the proper speed making the pitch and timing slower and lower.
Sam and Tucker shared a look before offering a thumbs up to their friend, both deciding it better not to address… whatever that was… The look they shared between one another spoke of their mutual hope that this would perhaps be one of those problems that simply go away on its own.
Ignoring the problems they have usually makes it go away… Yeah, that always works out.
Danny makes a grab for the door to pull it open again, having that weird slow stop motion effect, like he was flickering between blinks rather than making a smooth motion forward. “Ehm, maybe don’t move around too much man… it’s um… creeping me out.” Tucker offers helpfully.
“Huh?” it took Danny a minute to process, as while he looked slow to them they seemed to be hyped up on caffeine to him… “Why are you talking so fast?” He wondered, his head almost appearing to glitch into a tilted and confused look.
“I think the ghost shield is making you go all slow motion. Just stop talking.” Sam says forcefully before letting out a shudder of her own.
Sam and Tucker share a glance before they each grab onto one of Danny’s arms and half drag him off to his locker. Despite his friends’ efforts he still got many looks shot his way, and a couple of people started whispering to one another as he passed by them.
“How is this going to work if I’m already weirding everyone out?” Danny asked, voice still sounding like a slowed record as he blinked sluggishly and his head jerked almost unsteadily from side to side. From his perspective, everyone was speeding along and talking at 1.5 times the normal speed.
“Maybe I should look for the ghost that triggered this, maybe Tuck, can you look into this mess?” Danny asked after a moment of trying to figure out what was being said around him through the noise of the hall.
“Yeah that might be best…” Sam responded shifting from leg to leg as she locks eyes with a basketball jock who was staring at their group incredulously.
“I got you, man, I’ll change everything to present and, block any ‘call home’ recommendations.” Tucker pipped up already pulling out his PDA to set that up preemptively.
Danny nodded and let out a hum before glitching his way out the nearest exit and out of the shield’s bounds. Once he slipped back out through the barrier, strangely enough, a harder feat than it was getting in, but that wasn’t a problem he wanted to focus on, he already blamed Vlad so he would simply continue to do so until the fruitloop showed himself.
As soon as he was through the green line of the shield Danny practically fell forward in relief. That stifling feeling now gone from his core and bones making his movements fluid and normal, well as normal as a clumsy half ghost could be anyhow…
It was a moot point and not one Danny wanted to think on too long. He gave a quick “thanks” to his friends, before diving between the dumpster and the school’s bricks, transforming into his ghostly alter ego and taking off into the sky. He would do a few laps around the school and city as he looks for whatever ghost set off the shield.
-BREAK-
It wasn’t until lunchtime Danny returned looking much more windswept and all around more miserable. He entered the courtyard through the side joining his friends out on the picnic table they had claimed.  He made it over to them, flopped down on the bench next to tucker with a groan before his head smacked into the table before him.
“You find them?” Tucker asked around whatever horrid monstrosity of a sandwich he was eating, spewing bits of half chewed bred at Danny’s head.
“No” Came the muffled reply, filled with tired disdain.
“No ghost sense?” Sam wandered, flicking the bits of bread from Danny’s raven hair and back towards Tucker.
“No”
“Huh… You think it was you who set off the shield?”  Sam wondered with a thoughtful frown.
“When I went into the back end of the generator though it wasn’t supposed to go off for anything that low, Danny in human form is like a two at best,” Tucker argued spinning his PDA around to show what he’d found when he hacked into the motherboard of the Fenton’s latest device.
Danny groaned. He supposed had he listened to his parents he could have been more prepared for whatever lunacy his parents’ decided to toss his way but alas, his short attention span and teenage rebellion and lack of caring got the best of him yet again.
Joyous of joys.
He tuned out his friend’s back and forthing for a bit, wondering if he could get away with smashing the device as Phantom when Tucker had his a-ha moment of discovery. Danny turned his head and raised a brow at his friend who was furiously typing away at his device.
“You were right about Vlad, Sam”
“Naturally,” She agreed.
“Well, he had an over right line here specifically set for Phantom’s ecto- signature,” the boy states running his finger along the line of code he’d found in the program.
Danny’s mood instantly brightened at that. “So then we just get rid of that bit right? And BAM everything’s fine?” He asked. “Man, what happened to me? Why do I want to get into the school again?”
“To keep up the illusion of normalcy on this mortal plane.” Sam supplied stabbing at her salad a little more forcefully than she probably needed to.
“Eh, yeah, I suppose.” Danny agreed with a lacklustre shrug.
“There, that should do it” Tucker spoke, interrupting whatever tangent Sam was getting ready to spew off about how normalcy was only an illusion created by corporations or some other such thing.
“And just in time The bell just rang,” Danny says with a small grin clasping a firm hand onto his friend’s shoulder. “Nice one Tucker!” he cheered as the trio made their way over to the doors that would lead them back into the cafeteria.
Unfortunately, as soon as Danny’s hand hit the door handle the shield once again sprung to life, though this time, instead of simply having a hard time passing through the shield, he was thrown back across the field earning a cry from several students who were following the trio.
“Grapes of wrath Mister Fenton!” Lancer, (of course it was Lancer) shouted out in worry, his shout even carrying over the prerecorded message containing his father’s voice. Lancer half jogged half waddled over to Danny who blinked up blearily to his teacher, eyes flashing green for the briefest of seconds before draining back to blue.
“Leave it to Fen-turd to get himself possessed.” Dash snorted from behind the pot bellied teacher earning a few nervous glances between the small crowd of gathering students. The mutterings of the students didn’t take long to start up after that.
“I’m not possessed,” Danny argued, though, it was rather hard to make said argument when the palm of his hand was burned and leaking ectoplasm from where he had touched the door.
“Course he’s not possessed! He’s a ghost himself!” Wes shouted pointing an accusatory finger at the youngest Fenton.
Danny glared. “Not the time Westly.” He muttered under his breath as he was hauled to his feet by his friends. He tried to brush himself off only to end up smearing the ectoplasm from his hand onto his jeans, leaving a luminescent streak across his thigh.
Seeing his chance the ginger jock was all too eager to point it out. “See look! He’s bleeding ectoplasm!”
“No, I’m not! It’s from the shield! it sputtered out at me.” Danny tried to protest, though even in his own ears it sounded like a weak argument.
“Really?” Wes argued and marched over to the shimmering shield. The teen waved his arms about freely in the shield’s range hopping back and forth pointedly across the line of the barrier before showing his hands and clothes were completely clean of any glowing goo. “See! Ghost!” he accused again after he did a little pirouette to show his lack of ectoplasm.
“Yeah? Well, it sputtered at Danny only ‘cuz it turned on with him in the threshold.” Sam tried to argue back glaring at the ginger, venom in her gaze.
“Well then, why don’t you just walk through the shield Fen-toad?” Dash said with a smarmy grin, ever eager to get his own jabs in and seemingly not wanting to be outshined by the ginger conspiracy theorist’s bullying of his favourite punching bag.
“Fine” He spat back bitterly and marched up to the shield with a huff.
Sam and Tucker exchange a glance with one another as Danny presses his hand into the shield again. Thankfully this time there wasn’t anything that blows him back but he also really had to try and push through the shield.
Danny could see out of the corner of his eye Wes’s smug grin as he grunts and does his best to push through the shield. His persistence is rewarded and he falls to the ground on the other side jumping up and giving a quick ‘HA!’ as he faces the small gathering crowd of students shifting uncomfortably just beyond the shield.
Sam had a look of exasperation and she looked like she was trying to restrain herself from face palming. Tucker on the other hand had no such restraint. He was almost over eager to bury his face into his hands.
From Danny’s perspective, he simply smacked into the ground and stood back up, but from the other students’ perspectives, Danny fell into the shield but instantly slowed down, looking as though he were falling with the moon’s gravity rather than the earthly speed everyone was used to. It also didn’t really look to them like he had hit the ground, instead glitching his body back into an upright position before cheering in that low slow motion state as he had earlier.
And if that wasn’t damning enough his eyes were glowing a lovely shade of ectoplasmic green.
Wes smirked, seemingly very smug and content with himself and this development. “See told you all he was a ghost!”
“T-that’s enough Mister Weston… Right…” LAncer muttered to himself a few moments watching as Danny seemed to glitch about as he cheered before seemingly realizing something was wrong. “I think there was a procedure to depossess a student…I bet the teachers in Bridgestone don’t have to exercise their students in this manner…” He complains. Sure they had gym class and he would appreciate the pun and irony if he wasn’t so tired.
“I don’t get paid enough for this,” he muttered, ignoring the look of panic that spread across Danny’s face.
It took some doing, a lot of flailing limbs and pressing himself against the damn shield, but Danny soon was through back out and free. His eyes still glowed brightly as he stared at his classmates looking very much like a deer in the headlights. Eyeshine and all might he add.
A few of the students were snickering, because only in Amity park could one get possessed by a ghost and have it come across as though someone had merely said something embarrassing or misheard an instruction and was now staring blankly ahead.
“Er….” Danny stared at his classmates half panicked before simply vanishing from view.
“Moby Dick!” Lancer exclaimed, almost dropping the book he was thumbing through from the Fenton parents. Sure it was a ghost, and could potentially be dangerous, but it wasn’t attacking so there wasn’t really anyone panicking.
Instead, the teacher simply felt tired. “Right, I’ll call the Fentons and let them deal with this, Everyone back inside I do believe the lunch bell rang already!” the teacher called out shooing the students into dispersing.
Danny stood there invisibly and holding strong as he internally groaned. At least they thought he was possessed, that could be easily explained away but he was not looking forward to trying to explain it to his parents…
Still maybe if he gets ahead of this…
It was with that thought in mind that he bolted away into the treeline beside the school, transformed and headed off to his home landing in his bedroom only a few minutes later. He went human, back intangible and invisible came out the door, made sure the coast was clear before speeding his way down into the basement.
He just made it down the stairs startling his mother and father who blinked at him curiously, when the phone rang cutting off his mother’s “Honey? What are you doing home so soon?”
“It’s the school calling Mads,” Jack says, sounding disappointed as the large man sent a look of disapproval to his boy.
“Wait!” Danny jumped forward answering the phone and instantly hanging it up.
“Daniel!” His mother exclaimed abashedly.
“I wanna explain first! Do you know how all your stuff goes off on me? Well, the shield at school started doing that and they think I’m possessed! I’m not, it's just the… ya know…” Danny rambled off hurriedly hoping against hope that his parents wouldn’t try to send him to decontamination … again… (Thanks to his ghost half, it burned in places he didn’t ever want to burn)
“You’re possessed Dann-o?!” Jack exclaimed instantly pulling a Fenton gun from somewhere on his person and brandishing it towards his son.
Danny threw his hands up and waved them placatingly at his father. “NO! Just the normal stuff! The contamination from the portal accident set it off. I got too close to the sensor!” He says quickly ignoring how his parents seem to flinch slightly.
His parents shared a look before his father seemed to deflate, seemingly upset at the fact his son wasn’t possessed. “I thought we fixed that... “ Jack says with a frown. “But, we can’t let the school know we may have messed it up! I know we’ll just run the tests again and fix it in the night!”
“Yeah, that would be- Wait what?” Danny blinks. Why couldn’t they just go down and fix it normally? Of course, his parents had to be weird about this too. “Thanks… Is there anything you need from me to help?”
And with those words said he almost instantly regretted it. “Well… We would really like to know why your ecto signature lines up perfectly with Phantom’s but perhaps that can wait.” Maddie offered with a small amused smile.
Danny sputtered at that, “Wh-What?”
“We set up a monitoring system so we can tell which ghosts most frequent the school… Phantom was the one that triggered the shield twice today. There actually wasn’t anything else that did,” Maddie explained with a deepening frown.
“You sure you’re not possessed, son?” Jack asked again this time sounding almost defeated in how, well, normal a volume he asked that. The hidden meaning was all too obvious especially after he mentioned his accident…
They thought he was dead! The portal killed him! And as the growing pit of dread grew into Danny’s stomach he couldn’t help but feel awful knowing they were correct in that assumption, well at least half right anyhow.
“Yeah… I’m… I’m me…” Danny managed out his voice cracking
“O-oh hun....” Maddie sniffed.
“But it’s not I… I’m me, I promise and I’m not all dead. I still have a heartbeat and everything!” Danny argued or rather tried to as his mother was quick to kneel before him taking his face in her hands as tears bubbled down her chin.
“Mom really I’m like … half at most. More human with a side of ghostly abilities ya know?”
“Oh, it’s okay Dann-o… You're still my son, I know ya are. It’s been almost a year since that accident and you’re mostly still you.” Jack said. “Just worse grades and more hormones and-”
“Thanks, guys really,” Danny sighed in relief both at dodging the potentially awkward birds and ghostly bees talk as well as the tepid acceptance he was getting. Awkward though it may be it was still acceptance nonetheless.  He was happy for it just the same.
“Maybe while we work on fixing up the shield to ignore Phantom’s signature you can tell us about some things?” Maddie asked sniffling again as she looked over her son’s face trying her best to hold herself together and not outright bawl at the thought she had killed her youngest child.
“Y-yeah… I’ve been wanting to tell you about this for a while now but, well, ya know…” Danny offered uselessly.
“I think it’s us who should apologize for that, son but maybe we can just all go get some triple chocolate fudge milkshakes and go deal with that shield after dinner?” Jack offered with a smile, ever the one to break up tension.
“Yeah, yeah… that sounds good.” Danny agreed. Well, it wasn't how he was expecting this to go, but he was kinda glad it ended up like this. Maybe now they could repair their strained relationship.
As Maddie ruffled up Danny’s hair the teen offered her his first genuine smile in almost a year.

(Note: the picture of Maddie is recent, the picture of Elaine is from around June of last year)
Rant time 🤡
So I know I’m preaching to the choir here but I need to go on quick rant about how fucked up the treatment of these two women has been in this fandom. Especially right now they’ve both been receiving an influx hate, Elaine for ... wanting to go home ... (yeah not even gonna start on that one) and Madison for the things she said on her recent live. Which I’ll be honest, was not a good look for her. She said things that did not come out the way she intended and I understand how people were offended by them. However, NO ONE had the right to absolutely spam her with hate and say the disgusting things that they did. The hate I’ve seen towards both of them makes me sick to my stomach. for whatever reason it’s impossible to just unstan someone and complain about them privately to your friends. When people find something they don’t like or are offended by about a celeb they decide it’s their JOB to try and tear that person down.
I KNOW that is this is how fandoms are, it’s happened before and it’ll keep on keep on happening, but I just wish it didn’t have to. For some reason the second a person gains an ounce of fame they become no longer a person but a thing that you can use to prove that you’re “woke” or that you have a moral high ground by stanning them or hating them. But the truth is celebrities are JUST people they make mistakes and say things that come out wrong and react in ways that people may not like. But before you go trying to tear down a celebrity you have to take a minute to pause and put yourself in their shoes. How would you react? How would you feel? Empathy is NOT THAT DIFFICULT! (Once again preaching to the choir because no one who follows me hates on them but you see my point) NO ONE is perfect. EVERYONE is problematic. Human beings on a whole are problematic. And being famous doesn’t make them any less vulnerable, any harder to hurt. People need to held accountable for their actions so they can learn and grow from them, not bullied to their breaking points.
Anyways 😓 stay stanning these two gorgeous woman who are still learning and trying their best everyday. All people deserve to be treated with basic respect and as hard as this must be for them I have complete faith that they’ll both come out of this stronger than they were before ❤️❤️❤️

The Prodigal Son
Hey so this is for @nastyburger and their Dannyverse AU.  Just so you know, it’s an AU that may not make sense without checking them out
Danny B. Fenton snorted, ashen grey smoke erupting from his nose as Dani landed behind him. For the first time in years, he was at Fenton Works for christmas, home of now world famous ghost hunters Maddie and Jack Fenton, as well as their elder child, Jazzy. It was once his home too. He knocked on the door. He didn’t know why, since he was expected. He supposed he just hoped it was Jazzy who opened the door. He was afraid to phase in. His parents might not buy that they “just didn’t hear him come in” when he was the most anticipated part of the holiday.
After a few seconds of silent waiting, Dani turned to her brother, silently asking if he really wanted to go through with this. And B wasn’t entirely sure he was. But, he’d promised Jazzy he would make an effort. The Fentons were old by now; it was why the elder child had returned home. The door creaked open, violet eyes glancing out before it was thrown open to reveal Madeline Fenton, hunched over with hair more grey than red, her hands rough and boney. Danny’s smile was still half formed when she latched onto him with a hug. Maybe it was his Core that had always caused him so much trouble, but she was cold to the touch. Most humans were. Silently, Maddie waved him and Danielle in. As soon as they crossed the threshold, Danny felt the house take aim at them, reacting to their shared ecto-signature. Danny had once removed its ability to sense him and Dani, but Jack had yelled at him when he’d realized. Danny had pointed out that it could’ve been Jazzy, but the Fenton patriarch had rebuffed that by pointing out Jazzy followed instructions.
Soon, Jack approached from the tree, a somewhat strained smile on his face as he said, “‘Ello Daneil. It’s good to see you. Same t’ ya Elle.”
Danny nodded, “Hi Ja- Dad. and uh, yeah. Glad to see you both as well. Merry christmas.”
“If yer more comfortable callin’ me Jack, call me Sparrow for all I care. Haven’t been yer father in years,” Jack said gruffly. Danny noticed it sounded more irate than sad. More bitter than apologetic.
The halfa siblings each raised an eyebrow and held up some bags (Elle had food, B the gifts), to which a younger, less bitter voice rang out from behind, “Food on the counter, presents are hidden in the guestroom.”
Danny hugged Jazzy much tighter than his mother had done to him. He’d been meaning to call her for ages, bur grading and hunting had been eating up his time. Despite not being back here in ages, he didn’t need to ask where the guestroom was, given that there was only one option. When he got up there, he snorted. The bright blue walls still had the fades that came from his posters; it was the same desk, so on and so forth. He wasn’t sure how to feel about it.
“They didn’t touch it for years, ya know. They were hoping you’d,” Jazzy said with a pause, “come home.”
The redhead ran his hand through his hair and laughed horsley, “Considering how I left? Why don’t I quite believe it was a bilateral decision?”
Jazzy pursed her lips, not having a response to that. There had been a lot of yelling that night. Ancients, it had been Christmas Even then too. For the longest time, the most that Jazzy, Sam or Tucker had heard was that Danny Phantom was more and more active than had been normal. That his fire had been tinted blue. It had been a terse few weeks, and everyone was frightened out of their minds trying to figure out where Fenton was staying. When they found out Vlad had taken him and promised to hide him… It had been a difficult time. Loathe as the Phantom was to admit it, Plasmius had supported his human half in a way no one else could, and Danny was in his debt.
Looking around the room some, Danny said, “I need to think about some stuff. You mind?”
Silently, Jazzy nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her. Danny looked around some more, and eventually found something he hadn’t seen in years. A picture of him with Sam and Tucker at eighteen, with the imprint of Dani in a nearly invisible red spot that almost no one else would see. If Danny had to hazard a guess, he was 19 here, and it was one of the last times he was happy at home. He sighed as he pocketed the picture and walked out. There was nothing more for him in that room, bar whatever present Jazzy had gotten him, he supposed.
“Look who decided to join ‘is family afta all,'' snorted the old man from the living room. Danni glared at Jack, who snorted.
Spitefully, Danny glared at his father and blew a smoke ring with his ghost sense. He knew it was childish, but Jack had been nothing but rude the entire time. To his surprise, it was his mother who glared at him with… a contempt usually reserved for Phantom... . Jack, for his part, almost seemed apologetic, before the mask was back on and he scowled. Both Jazzy and Danni rolled their eyes at their brother.
Sensing the tension bubbling beneath the surface that threatened to lash out, Jazzy turned to Danielle, and asked, “So. Elle? What’ve you been doing lately? Last I saw on instagram you were in, Madrid, right?”
Danni nodded, “Yep. Met a cute girl or two, which was nice. But Spain isn’t for me; not a fan of their food compared to Italian. Actually I spent the last few weeks of my europe trip in Milan. But I guess I forgot to post it…” she shrugged.
“Ooh, Milan. You have got to tell me all about it,” Jazzy said with a smile before she glanced at the falling snow.
Danny tried to listen, really. But Danni had already told him about her time in Milan (and the girls she met there in some form.) He felt himself zoning out, before his father jostled his shoulder and led him down to the lab. Danny wasn’t sure what he expected, but the lab was still the best kept part of the house bar hi- bar the guest room. His father had to take an automatic chair to carry him down. The radioactive green of the portal still illuminated the basement, but there was now a glass container that Danny could tell was lined with ectoplasm to prevent phasing. Smart. The eldest fenton offered a beer, which the son silently turned down. But soon Jack had sat the two of them down, like when Danny was a kid. Then, Jack had called them their ‘boys talks,’ but now it was clear what this was. Two broken men, trying to fix themselves by fixing the other.
“Now, you were always a bit oblivious on your best day. Which this most certainly isn’t. Suppose that’s my fault a bit. But, in case you hadn’t noticed. Your mother hasn’t said a word all day. Why do you think that is?”
Danny knew immediately, “Throat cancer. Jazzy told me a few weeks ago, when I was in Canada with Vlad… I tried calling, but…”
Jack snorted, whether he believed his son or not being unclear, “Right. Ya know, when you were a tyke, I wanted you t’ meet Vladdie,” a snort, “more than anything in the world. But now? I wish I’d never met ‘im myself. Would’ve saved my family. Would’ve saved him, come to think. Regardless. I want you to tell ‘er. Before she goes. So she knows who you really are.”
The room went cold, as Danny knew exactly what Jack meant, and he tried to force the hurt down in a level tone, before asking, “You knew? For how long?”
“Knew you had powers immediately. Saw you fall through your floor, but you were too comatose from the accident to remember. Didn’t know you were Phantom for a while, but when Vlad won his first term- unanimous votes my ass- I realized somethings about him. Things were cemented when I saw you beat him into transforming back to human. If somethin like that could happen from Vlad’s accident…” he gestured to Danny.
Danny stood, eyes burning with tears and ectoplasm as he snarled, “You knew. You had to know I wasn’t some druggie. And you still let mom send me to rehab? You still wasted weeks of my life. You tore me from my friends. You still sided with Mom in almost every fight. How dare you ask for me to give her my secret now? You don’t care. You just want your guilt off your chest and think I can do that.”
“I’m the reason it was rehab and not the dissection table. Maddie was on to you, you know. By timing alone, and the devices going off. But I lied to my own wife, your mother, for months. I regret what I had to do, but not what I did. I saved my son.”
That gave Danny pause. He wanted to believe it. But years of being alienated from his family made him wary. Part of him screamed that if Jack was being honest with him, he wouldn’t have let Danny risk life and limb with minimal intervention. He wouldn't have shot at him. But the boy that wanted to be a family again ached at the possibility opening up. At being his parents’ son again.
“Fine. I’ll do it. But after this? I don’t want to hear from you again, You’ll see me at the service, but after that, I’m gone.”
As he walked up the stairs, Jack sighed. Tears streamed down from the old man’s face. It was better Danny was angry at him, than the dying woman who’d nearly convinced him to experiment on his own son when they’d realized what happened. Jack didn’t see the incidents with Danny’s powers, it had been Maddie. And Jack had sent his son to rehab while he tried to talk his wife from the edge. He’d saved Danny, and all it cost him?
 His son.

You know since you responded to someone asking who the Amphibia girl trio's favorite Ducktales 17 nephew would be, let's have more fun with this: Which Team Magic member would the girls get along with the best? I imagine Sasha would get along best with Lena (both have engaged in morally ambiguous behavior), Anne with Webby (could see em doing Muay Thai together), and Marcy with Violet (both are nerds).
Oh this is really fun!
I like the idea that Sasha and Lena would get along well but I also think there’s a distinct possibility that the two would totally distrust/dislike eachother on instinct. Lena strikes me as the most protective member of team magic, we see this in the way she reacts to May and June, as well as her initial fear of Violet(which I will never stop finding hilarious cause she goes from Evil to Sister at the speed of fast but anyway). I think Lena’s response to Sasha would be to be very wary of her, in a way where she’s like “I know what someone who’s hiding something looks like and this is it.” I think she’d be willing to extend a helping hand to Sasha in the case of Sasha asking for it, because she knows exactly how it feels to be buried so far in deceit and bad choices that you don’t know how to get out on your own, and she wouldn’t want someone to have to go through that by themselves, but I think she’d take a while to really trust her.
Webby, on the other hand, would Love Sasha, or at least I think so. Webby is just naturally trusting and friendly so she would bounce right up to Sasha and start complimenting her armor and weapons and be all “What fighting styles do you use? How long have you been training for? How prepared are you in the event of a sudden ambush?” Sasha would find her a little overwhelming and unruly at first, especially because I think Webby’s enthusiasm and smol-duckness would remind her of Sprig a bit, but when she actually started listening I think she’d find Webby would have some interesting things to say about adventure and combat and stuff.
She’d probably try to get on Webby’s good side at first so she could use potential Webby Tactics for the rebellion, but the more she talked to Webby the more she would probably start to actually like her. I think Webby could also offer some interesting insights on friendship, as someone who lacked friends for a good majority of her life, and someone who has had to learn the lesson that sometimes, even if you think you’ve got all the answers, you need to let go and let other people resolve their own things sometimes (think Fight For Castle McDuck). But I also just think Webby has a way simpler view on friendship than Sasha does, and I just love the image of Sasha doing her thing of thinking of all the elements of her relationship with Anne and Marcy and all the things she has to do and how everything has to go a certain way and Webby’s just like “Friends are nice cause you all just get to be yourselves, Together!” and Sasha just stares at her like. What.
Sasha would gradually grow to care about Webby a whole lot, I can imagine her treating her similarly to Percy and Braddock in the first half of Barrel’s Warhamer. She pretends she’s just humoring Webby cause she knows Webby will just keep talking to her and asking her to practice sword fighting with her anyway, but she has to admit, only to herself, that the little duck has actually grown on her. She also ends up knowing so much Scrooge McDuck trivia that is utterly useless to her and she has no idea what to do with.
I do think you’re spot on with Marcy and Violet. When I imagine them hanging out I’m imagining like, a mix between Marcy nerding out over seeds and architecture with Hop Pop, and the magical shenanigans Marcy got up to with Maddie. The thing I really like about these two is that they both are very science-minded, but also take that love for science and use that approach when studying magic. Marcy would beg Violet to tell her all about the shadow incidents and the research she’s done, something Violet would be more than happy to do, and then Violet would ask to hear about Marcy’s studies in Amphibia, trying to learn just as much about the world as she could. To be honest they’d probably break the show cause I firmly believe if the combined intelligence and experience of Marcy and Violet was put in the same space they’d crack the whole mystery of the music box within a week.
I saved this one for last cause it’s my favorite, but I actually think Lena would get along best with Anne, and vice-versa. The reason I think this is because the two have both had arcs that are highly centered on the concept of finding themselves and figuring out who they are. Lena lived (literally) in Magica’s shadow for so long, having to create her own identity from the ground up, and taking even longer to figure out and be secure in the knowledge that she wasn’t making anything up, she is Lena Sabrewing, and that’s enough. Meanwhile Anne, though coming from very different circumstances, spent a long time living in the shadows of her friends, not able to stand up for herself or make her own decisions, not really paying much attention to herself. Contrary to the typical chaos of both of these shows, and the very active ways Marcy & Violet / Sasha & Webby would interact, I feel like Lena and Anne would just kind of like, relax and talk for a while, which lets be honest both of them really need some time like that. I could see the two of them talking about their own experiences with their friends and their journeys, what led them to the people they are now, offering advice and coming up with ideas with each other. I also like to think Anne would encourage her to write a song about her experiences, like she did, and Lena would have her help, and they’d sing it together.

have you heard of sia's new movie 'music'? what do you think of it?
Yeah, it’s impossible to avoid on the internet.
I’m not masochistic enough to watch the entire movie, but I’ve seen some of the worst scenes, as well as Sia’s extremely immature and unprofessional reaction to criticism + parts of the promo interview she did.
Her intentions weren’t bad. And I think that’s important to remember, because it shows that “meaning well” isn’t enough. It’s not a substitute for actual sensitivity you would gain from, for example, talking to autistic people.
She genuinely sees herself as this benevolent, mother-like artist, thinks that her own genius is enough to make a feel-good kind of masterpiece about a group of people she sees like thinks of as a mix of cute bunnies and fascinating aliens.
The fact that we are absolutely capable of watching her movie through a critical lens probably never crossed her mind! You know, I’ve had people on this website respond to my posts about autism as if I were too, I don’t know, far removed from reality to both read and react to their reply. So I’m not the least bit surprised that something like this can still happen in 2021.
Personally, I don’t think the problem was that she didn’t hire an autistic actress. Of course I wouldn’t mind seeing more autistic actors in autistic roles, but there’s nothing so alien-like about us that no allistic person could portray us accurately. I... find this notion more offensive than the fact that Maddie Ziegler isn’t autistic, to be honest.
This exaggerated focus on representation obfuscates what autism activism (activism in general) is actually about. (I‘d rather have adequate healthcare than a movie character I can relate to)
But if you decide, for whatever reason, to make a movie about a topic that is infamous for how badly it is handled by media in general, you obviously have to do proper research. And we all know that her priority wasn’t what the movie claims to be about.
If you want a good movie about an autistic person communicating via music, just watch Stop Making Sense instead.

Oh that makes sense, i would make it a challenge if someone said that to me too🤪🤪🤪🤪
MADDY X SERA DUO WOULD BE I C O N I C😍😍😍😍😍
YES REMI BE A GIRLBOSS AND FUCK NATE UP AS HE DESERVES😼😼🍭
Okay no but tbh Nate wouldn't even reach Remi💀Big brother Arlo would beat Nate up like how nate beat up the guy who *😤😤😤😤😌😌😌And then Blyke would finish him off😎😎
But like imagine an Isen x Fez friendship wjsbsjnsjs idk it would be so chaotic but so amazing😭😭
Oh btw what are your opinions on Lexie and Cassie :D Oh and Jules👀👀👀👀
Also can I get some arlo angst that turns into fluff😍😍😍😍
I love both even though arlo angst makes me cry🤡🤡🤡And you CLEARLY LOVE WRITING ARLO ANGST🤪🤨🤨🤨😭😭😭
-Candy Anon🍭🍬🍫
*Tw:
R@ped Maddy
Oh my god I didn’t even consider an Isen and Fex friendship. I’d love it so much. You’re absolutely right. Arlo would rock Nate’s shit as soon as he saw Nate start to show interest in Remi. I have a feeling Nate would try to be friends with Arlo so Arlo would probs have at least a little bit of a first hand experience of how shitty Nate is, especially to women since Nate kinda brags about it.
I like Lexie. I think she’s p cool but I’d like to see a Lexie episode to get to know her better. I liked season 1 Cassie. The abortion/ice skating scene was really sad. It was a beautiful scene, but it was so sad. I’m not the biggest fan of season 2 Cassie (i haven’t actually watched season 2 yet, just seen a lot of tiktok spoilers). ***SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF EUPHORIA*** Like I kinda understand why she gets with Nate. Like if you take away the toxicity, he’s fuckin hot. Not ‘betray my bestie’ hot, but still. I mean, everyone in Euphoria’s hot. I’m not the biggest fan of Jules…I mean, she’s just kind of a shitty friend. Like I know it’s hard to be friends with someone struggling as much as Rue is, but Idk it just seemed like Jules kept putting Rue in situations where she’d struggle more (like the party where Jules gets crazy drunk).
It’s less that I love writing angst, and more that I love/get a kick out of seeing the reactions to said angst lmao I’ll be honest, I started to get teary eyed with that last Current!Arlo angst😅
Also, this one had more in Y/N’s POV than I usually do. I tend to avoid it bc to me it seems like it’s less x reader at that point since everyone doesn’t react the same way, but I wanted to try it this time for funsies :D Lemme know what you think! <3 <3🍿🥤🍭🍬🍫🧋
Y/N glances at their phone, sighing as they see no new messages from Arlo. They scoff and toss their phone on the bed, feeling stupid for waiting for Arlo to text instead of texting him first. They keep telling themselves it’s because they don’t want to bother him, that they know how busy he is and how he doesn’t like to text. But deep down they know they’re trying to test him. To see if he cares enough to reach out to them first or if they’re going to be the only one putting any effort into their starting-to-get-serious relationship. Arlo’s…not the most obvious when it comes to people he cares about and he has a bad habit of repressing his emotions, especially with softer emotions. Of course they didn’t want to blame him for their own insecurities, but they knew his repressed emotions planted the seed of their doubt.
Arlo wasn’t stupid. He knew something was wrong with Y/N. They had slowly become more withdrawn, seeming more uncomfortable around him. He’d spent several nights awake and wracking his brain, trying to figure out what he was doing to push them away. After a week and a half, he finally came to the conclusion that they were just ready to break up with him and trying to distance themselves to either make it easier to break up with him or make him break up with them first. Arlo knew it’d be a good idea to break up with them first. It’d save him time and a prolonged heartbreak, but he couldn’t do it. Even if it was going to cause him more pain, he couldn’t let go of the hope that they still wanted to be with him. So he decided he’d wait and watch them continue withdrawing from him.
Arlo watches them out of the corner of his eyes, seeing them look up at him before looking away, a sad look poorly disguised on their face. He feels his heart drop at their reaction and his stomach turns. Arlo lifts his head and looks at them.
“What’s wrong?” Arlo asks even though he knew exactly what their answer would be, the same thing they had repeated every time he asked. They glance at him quickly before looking away again.
“Nothing.”
“Something’s clearly bothering you.” Arlo replies, not noticing how rough his hurt tone sounds to them. They clench their fists in their lap and they swallow hard, trying to force the bubble in their throat down before they talk.
“I-” Y/N cuts themself off when they hear their voice crack slightly, taking another moment to compose themself. “I need someone who loves me.” Arlo’s heart drops and they lift their head to look at him, panic crossing their face when they see the hurt in his eyes. “I’m not blaming you! I know it doesn’t come easily to you, and maybe I’m just not good enough for you to love and that’s not your fault, it’s mine.” Y/N rambles, losing control over their emotions as they speak, their voice more shaky with every word. Their hand raises and angrily wipes their tears away, upset that they were unable to hold them back. Arlo feels a pang in his chest at their tears and he reaches over, cupping their face with both of his hands.
“Y/N, look at me.” His thumbs gently rub their cheeks while he waits for them to meet his gaze. They slowly lift their eyes to look into his own, their hands nervously fidgeting in their lap as he stares at them. “I love you. You will always be good enough for me.” Arlo confesses, his words breaking the dam holding back their tears. A choked sob leaves their lips and tears rush down their face. Arlo hesitates for a moment before wrapping his arms around them, pulling them into an awkward hug but they don’t seem to care. Y/N hugs him back and buries their face in his shoulder.
“I’m sorry.” Arlo stays silent, trying to find the best thing to say. Before he finds the words, they pull away and hide their face in their hands. “I’m so stupid. I was completely convinced you didn’t want to date me anymore.” Y/N admits, still hiding in embarrassment.
“In that case, we’re both stupid.” Arlo huffs and Y/N peeks out at him.
“You thought I was going to break up with you?” Y/N asks softly and Arlo nods after a moment, watching them drop their hands from their face to look at him easier. “I’m sorry.” Y/N murmurs and Arlo scoffs lightly at them.
“It was a miscommunication from both of us.” Arlo gently takes their hand, his thumb rubbing slow circles on the back of their hand. Y/N nods and they pause for a moment before asking timidly,
“Can…can I hug you again?” Arlo wordlessly pulls them into his arms, pressing a kiss to the side of their head. Y/N nuzzles into him, feeling safe and content in his arms.

Maddie and Asher follow Liam's invitation. He also learns new things about were cheetahs and Theo gets a new job from an unlikely source.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Anyways, he invited the whole core pack to a BBQ. It's nice meeting with Luka. I learn so much about general history and other things. That's alright with you?" Liam switched his cellphone from the right hand to his left so he could reach for a shampoo bottle with his right. He was currently doing some shopping before his shift at Ellie’s started and also used the time to have a phone conversation with Byron. Byron chuckled softly. "Why shouldn't it be?" "Dunno. Maybe because you think I'm replacing you? Rather listen to him than you?" Byron sighed softly. "Liam, I am well aware of my own age. It is very noble of you to care about my feelings in that matter but I have to tell you not to worry. I know you listen to me but having another werewolf, an Alpha even, closer to your own age group, gives you undoubtedly the advantaged to see things from a different perspective. You young people see the world differently than we do, that is perfectly fine. You can never know too much and different viewpoints allow you a better understanding of things. I am not worried you will forgo my advice or replace me with Luka. In fact, I am excited you get to make this experience with other Alphas and leaders of supernatural groups." Liam exhaled and smiled. "Good. I am grateful for all of you taking your time to teach me things, explain things to me. Especially at the moment, I feel I'm learning so many new things about our world. Things I never ever thought of before." "Your willingness to learn is one of your most admirable traits. When we met, it was one of the first things I noticed", Byron praised him. Liam meanwhile opened the shampoo bottle and sniffed. He grimaced. Way too chemical for his liking. He hastily closed the bottle and put it back on the shelf. "I try my best. The way I see it, knowledge makes me a better Alpha. Which, funnily enough, is an insight I share with Scott." "You're right. Knowledge is always good." Liam found another shampoo he liked and took it to the cash register. Byron meanwhile reminisced. "I think I met Luka's parents once. Unless there is another pack with the same name in North America, which I highly doubt. Insightful and willing to listen. Remarkable people. It appears, their son takes after them." "Wow, maybe one day you two can meet and you can tell him that. I'm not sure when his parents died exactly but he still grieves them and hearing about them will surely make him happy. Maybe you can also meet Savannah and Maddie." He considered this a good idea. Byron hummed approvingly. "I'd love to."
"One second, Byron." Liam found it incredibly impolite to check out and be on the phone so he paused the call and turned his full attention to the cashier once it was his turn to pay. The transaction didn't take long and Liam left the store with his shampoo. Only then he picked up the conversation again. "Sorry, had to pay." Byron hummed again and Liam remembered a question from earlier he had wanted to ask: "You said it's highly unlikely two packs with the same name existing in North America. Why?" "I guess I should have worded it better. There is a chance of another pack having an Alpha named Barrett, it is not an incredibly rare name, but the possibility of the other pack referring to themselves as Barrett Pack is rare. You know, Liam, packs can have all kinds of names. A lot of them take their Alpha's last name. McCall, Hale, Barrett. Others, like ours, derive their names from the world around them or things connected to them. Red Ambers Pack, The Creek Pack, Silver Eyes. What all those names have in common is they are exclusive to those packs, simply because no one wants to be dragged into another pack's business because they share the last name. Imagine another pack, full of brutal and disruptive wolves, being called Dunbar Pack. One day someone shows up at your door and causes trouble. You would be furious. It's common werewolf etiquette to not have an already taken name. Also an etiquette stemming from old times." "Why do I now imagine all Alphas visiting an office where they register their names and pay the registration fee?" Liam snickered. Byron laughed wholeheartedly. "It's a nice image. Most come from hearsay, to be honest. And, in case of a pack having their Alpha's last name as pack name, the name changes with the Alphas. Unless it's another family member taking over, but that goes without saying." Liam pondered. "So our pack would have gone from Fairclay Pack to Dunbar Pack, if it weren't for Morning Dew." Liam opened his car and put the shampoo bottle on the passenger seat before he closed the door and locked his car again. Now he made his way toward's Ellie's store. "Exactly", Byron confirmed. "I like it better that way. Think of the poor registration office. All this paperwork for a name change." Byron laughed again and Liam joined him. "My shift's about to start, Byron. Talk to you later." "Take care, Liam."
He ended the call and pocketed his phone. The store was very central, with many shops around, and Liam used it to run some smaller errands quite often. When he now arrived at his workplace, Ellie was on a ladder. “Didn’t I tell you to wait with restocking until I’m here?” Liam asked lightly and sidestepped a few empty boxes. His boss placed a box on the shelf. “You mean because you’ll heal faster if you fall from the ladder?” “I…yeah. Besides I’m your young employee. Use me.” “I want to take up that task in case you have no use for Liam!” Carlie yelled from somewhere between the shelves. Her friends giggled. “Carlie.” Liam smirked. “What about Theo? He would get jealous of me for having you.” Theo had visited Liam in the shop before and as expected Ellie and her friends had fawned over his charming personality. “I take both of you!” They all laughed and Ellie thankfully climbed down from the ladder to let Liam take over.
He was working away for a while when the door opened and Theo entered the shop. He didn’t even need to open his mouth, the feeling of resignation and frustration pouring through their bond was enough. Liam gave him a pitiful glance. “The job interview didn’t work out.” Theo completely skipped over Liam already knowing his emotional state and just continued. “They wanted a twenty-year-old with thirty years experience and I can’t offer that. Tried telling her I’ve been to hell. She thought that was a joke.” "I'm sorry." Liam meant it and went to console his boyfriend. He hugged him tightly and Theo clung to him. He wanted to work again and Liam always felt a pang of guilt. Theo had hated working at the diner but he had been working and because his Alpha pressed, he was now jobless. "It's just...It's starting to get borderline ridiculous! Seattle is not a small town, how can nobody be in need of a healthy college student willing to get his hands dirty? Bullshit!" Theo ranted and Liam let him. It was only logical Theo needed to air out his frustration.
"Don't mind me barging into your conversation", Ellie appeared next to the couple. "But, Theo, if you really want a job, I can offer you one. Liam said you two wanted to work together after college anyway. Why not start now?" "That would be possible?" Liam asked surprised. She shrugged. "I see why not. There is more than enough work for the two of you. Also, two strong young men are always better than one. Carlie, don't even comment on that one!" "I didn't say anything!" Carlie shrieked and Theo laughed. "It sure sounds like fun." He looked at Liam. "Is this okay for you?" "Yeah, I don't mind." Liam really saw no issue with that. Ellie was right, they wanted to work together someday, might as well as start now. "Then, yeah, I'd love to accept, Ellie. Thank you." Theo was extremely grateful. She was happy. "Amazing. We can later talk about all the details. I'll offer you the same contract as Liam." He understood that. "Any rules for working together as a couple?" "Boy, you visited Liam several times since he started working here. I never had to fish you out of the storage room or the back office. I'll take the chance." "We are professional!" Liam squawked. Ellie shot him a grin. Then she pumped her fist. "Not me being selfish but there will be some deliveries arriving soon. You two strong men can take this, right?" "Absolutely", Liam promised and pulled Theo along to show him everything.
****** Working with Theo was easier than Liam imagined it to be. Sure, he would have never made the suggestion for their own coffee shop had he doubted that but it was even easier than in his imagination. They worked well together and knew how the other would react in certain situations. They also fell in an easy working rhythm without speaking so much. "Is it really okay for you? Me working here?" Theo still asked when they were storing the deliveries later on. "Yeah, sure. I don't mind in the slightest." Liam opened a box and began handing Theo things. The Second Alpha sorted them meticulously. "Just wanted to check, so you don't feel like I'm intruding or whatever." "You're not. We want to have our own store one day. This is a great exercise." Liam gave him a big smile which Theo returned. "Besides, Ellie is a great boss, you'll see. Makes life easier." "Easier?" Theo inquired and grabbed another box from Liam to store it away. Liam grunted. "She knows about us being werewolves. We don't have to find silly excuses if anything comes up. I had to lie so often in Beacon Hills and come up with stories to cover. Now my boss knows what I am, my coach knows, even my most important family members know.  I don't have to lie anymore and that makes things so much easier. My friends all are either supernatural themselves or involved with the supernatural one way or another. I can be honest, and just be me, you know? It feels so much better", Liam confessed. "It truly is easier", Theo admitted. "Ellie is my first boss in known about the supernatural, it's quite a luxury for me." He gave Liam a cheeky grin and Liam laughed. "You don't mind working with me, right?" He then inquired. "If I did, I wouldn't have accepted the job offer. I'm desperate for a job, but not that desperate." Theo sorted the last thing and handed Liam the label maker. "I'm sure there was a compliment somewhere in that sentence", the young Alpha nagged but didn't mean any harm. Theo understood and scoffed playfully. But then he grew serious. "It's actually quite soothing for my wolf. Being around you, knowing where you are." "Knowing where I am? You know where I am, even if you're not here with me." "It's not that. I know where you are, yes. But are you safe? That's how the mating bond manifests for me. By the urge to protect you every time and at all cost." Liam loved Theo with all his heart and he loved the protective streak the older one had developed for him. Yet... "I like that and I appreciate that. However, I am perfectly capable of protecting myself." "I know you are", Theo confessed, "And that scares the crap out of me." "Huh?" Liam frowned in confusion. Theo grumbled. "One day, I fear, I will be too slow. And you jump headfirst into danger, probably sacrificing yourself for us, and I won't be able to protect you and keep you from doing it. One day, even though you're perfectly capable, I'm afraid a bad guy will get lucky and you will die." Theo shuddered and Liam smiled softly. He put his things down and moved closer to his boyfriend. "I protect myself as good as you do. I will never leave you like this, okay?" "Hm. Promise?" "Promise." Liam kissed him. Maybe it was a dangerous promise given their life but at this moment it felt needed. The sheer thought of one of them not returning after a fight was terrifying and cruel. So acting as if they had complete control over their fate was the only thing to stop the thoughts from going down this path. Theo responded to the kiss but then poked Liam's side. "Come on, let's get those things to Ellie. She didn't hire us to make out. That would be a different line of work."
Liam snickered but then grabbed a box and followed his boyfriend back into the store. "Before I forgot, Sadie and Mason plan on taking you shopping to your new friend Savannah's boutique. Told me before I left." "Me??" Liam shrieked and Ellie looked at him in shock. "Yep. Sadie stalked Savannah online and wants to see the stores. Mason's all for that idea but both agreed it would be rude to show up there without you. So, you have to be the sacrificial lamb, puppy." "No", Liam said firmly, "I'm not going shopping. You all dressing me up once was bad enough. No way!" "Tell them that. I'm just warning you."
The young Alpha grumbled and Ellie chuckled. Liam decided to change the topic slightly. "Luka said he would also invite Savannah and Maddie to the BBQ. I'm really excited to have you all meet. They're cool. It's nice hanging out with them." "Or texting with them", Theo teased. It was true, especially Savannah sent a lot of texts but she never expected a decent answer and just spammed with various things. Maddie, her sister in spirit as the two called themselves, responded equally excited and Liam's phone was buzzing significantly more since he met them. "Are you jealous?" "Me? Of what or whom?" Theo asked surprised. Liam shrugged. It had crossed his mind, he still remembered Theo's jealousy regarding Scott once. "Of Luka maybe?" "Why? Because you had a lunch date?" Theo joked and began tidying up behind the cash register. "It wasn't a lunch date. Not even a date. Just two friends getting something to eat. I do the same with Mason." The Second Alpha shook his head. "I'm not jealous. You're friends, you clearly respect each other and I see how happy it makes you. You see it as a chance to exchange views and advice. How could I be jealous of that?" He paused. "I mean, he is handsome and I know you noticed this as well. You have a type, puppy. Charming men with dark hair. Only natural you find him attractive." "I don't have a type." Liam had begun to fill the displays around the cash register and now shook his head. Theo raised his fingers while he enumerated. "Brett. Me. Luka. Even some of your exes. All fit the bill." "No." Liam scrunched his nose. Though he was not so sure about that one. "Hayden, for example, didn't fit the description." "Yeah. This particular type you have is reserved for males only. I met all your ex-girlfriends and when it comes to women you go for different types. But almost all your ex-boyfriends or crushes share the same traits." Flawless logic but Liam would rather swallow his tongue than directly admit that. "Okay, so what? He is attractive. Doesn't mean I want to start something." "Never said you do."
"Can the old coot give you advice?" Ellie injected. Both men looked at her. She shook her head. "Don't do that to each other. Don't tell yourself you're not allowed to find someone attractive just because your partner might get jealous." "I'm not jealous", Theo clarified. "I know you're not. It's just general life advice from an old lady." "You're not that old", Liam mumbled but continued to listen to her. "I saw relationships end over this. Because one partner thought they were not allowed to find anybody else than their partner sexy or handsome. It's ridiculous. Finding a person attractive says nothing about feelings or ambitions. Just like you said, Theo, it's a preference, a type. But this irrational of making the significant other jealous can become such a pressure, it ends in a breakup. And yet somehow society began telling people, young people, this is how it should be. It shouldn't. It's toxic. My advice is to see it as easy as you two do. A little bit of jealousy is good and I know there is a thing called emotional cheating, that is wrong, but not taking things too seriously is the best way to handle it. I am in a happy marriage and we both find other people handsome. Doesn't mean anything." Liam and Theo looked at each other. "I think we got that one covered", Theo muttered and Liam nodded with a smile. "Yeah."
****** "I hate you and regret all my life choices up to this point." Maya had her arms crossed in front of her chest and glared at the building ahead of her. "Why am I here?" Liam put his arm around her shoulders. "You know you love me and your life choices were good. But if I get dragged down by them, I need to drag someone with me", he explained sardonically and pointed at Sadie, Mason, Brett, and Corey currently gushing over the shop window of Savannah's boutique. Mason had managed to convince Corey and Brett to accompany them and they had excitedly agreed. Liam had decided for that alone they all would get one Christmas present less. Or a lump of coal. "Liam, look, they have suits." Mason was already at the entrance. Coal was a good idea. "And bowties!" Or nothing at all.
The boutique was perfectly illuminated and the carpet was held in pastel colors. One ground floor and a first floor, connected through circular stairs. Several clothing racks and shelves with all kinds of garments were placed around. Liam didn't know where to look first. "Welcome, welcome." Savannah walked towards them looking stunning as always in black heels, white ripped jeans and a black spaghetti top. She smiled brightly at Liam before she hugged him. Then she introduced herself to the others. "I am Savannah. Feel free to look around and see what you might like. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask. And shut up, those earrings are adorable." Just like that, Sadie had a new best friend. Both women excitedly greeted each other and soon enough their friends all swarmed the place. Maya stayed next to Liam. "You look out of place. Are you alright?" Savannah asked. "I don't like shopping", Maya admitted. "I just can't spend hours browsing a clothing store. It's just not me." "That's a shame. I think everybody should enjoy buying things for themselves. We try to give customers that here in our store. But maybe we can help you. Pilar!"
A dark-haired woman in Savannah's age showed up at the top of the staircase. "Yeah?" She called out while she walked down the stairs. She wore sneakers, grey shorts, and a colorful top. "Guys, this is Pilar, she works here with me and is also one of my Betas. Pilar, those are Liam and Maya. Maya hates shopping. Think you could help?" Savannah moderated the getting to know each other. To Maya, she further explained: "Pilar is great with clothing and has this unique talent of always finding something a person likes. I swear, she will make this a fun experience." "Oh, great." Maya still didn't seem convinced but she gave Pilar a brave smile when the were cheetah grinned proudly. Then she swiftly pulled her long, wavy hair up in a bun and studied Maya. "Tell me about yourself. Are you more tomboy or more sporty? Dresses yes or no?" "I'm not a tomboy. I'm simply not interested in too much makeup or dresses. Don't know if that makes me a tomboy already?" Pilar hummed. "What are your hobbies? What do you care for?" "Painting, I care about the environment, protests," Maya started to list. "Environment, amazing. We have a collection of local-made eco-friendly clothes here.  I make all of them, so I know what materials were used and how. Maybe we can find something there?" Maya looked suddenly incredibly happy and followed Pilar up the stairs again.
Savannah grabbed a polka-dotted bowtie in blue and white and held it up to Liam. "You would look pretty in a bowtie." "Absolutely not!" Liam shook his head. She laughed. "Relax, I'm just messing with you. You're not my dress-up doll." He chuckled. Her humor was something you had to like, otherwise you might feel insulted or ridiculed. But Liam got it. "You're coming to the BBQ?" "Later, I think. It's a busy day here and I cannot plan in advance when we will be done. Stocktaking, you know? I'll keep you guys updated." She smirked. "I wonder what his house looks like. Is it big? Small? Maybe even bigger once inside." "Are we still talking about Luka's house?" Liam questioned. Savannah clicked her tongue. "Maybe. Maybe not." Her eyes flashed light blue. Liam narrowed his own eyes in concentration. "Are your eyes always this color? Or did they change after you did become an Alpha?" "Blue, you mean? It's the default eye color for cheetahs. Our Alphas don't have different colored eyes than the rest. Blue for everyone." "Wolves only have blue eyes once they took an innocent life. Hence why I'm asking." The blonde shook her head. "We don't have that." Savannah wrapped one arm around Liam. "Now, tell me, any life updates? Things I should know about? Should I take time off work for a wedding?" "My wedding is in a few years, don't stress." Liam blushed. She cackled and let go of him when three women passed the store window. They waved and Savannah waved back. "The brunette one is Beatriz, the redhead is Paola, and the one with the black hair is Carmen. They make the rest of my pack." "Your pack is solely women?" Liam was surprised. "I mean if you don't count our parents, yeah. It's not uncommon for were cheetahs. We are matriarchic minted packs most of the time. It has its origin in the myth of the first were cheetahs. We originated in Africa and there was a village. The old king had been okay-ish to the women in the village. Not the most supportive fella but not bad either. But he got dethroned and killed. The new king made women fair game. They had to serve the men, were mistreated, abused, raped, were no more than slaves. One night the women fled into the wilderness. But without any food or weapons, they were scared and so they prayed to the highest gods for help. One heard their prayers and decided to help them in exchange for something. The women would get the powers to overtake their oppressors and in return, they would forever serve the cheetah goddess. Thus were cheetahs were born." Liam marveled. "I have no idea how werewolves were created. It is so cool you guys know your origin story." "Well." She looked rather proud of herself. "It's tradition and we're proud of it. No, we don't hate men. That's not what this is about." "Who hates men?" Mason appeared next to them. "Nobody." Liam ducked last minute before his best friend managed to place a pink tie around his neck. He just didn't count on Corey appearing behind him and placing a small tiara on Liam's head. "We crown you Alpha of our hearts!" Liam wanted to be mad. But it was hard when he was already laughing. "You're ridiculous!"
****** "Do we have everything we need? Are you sure it's fine? Maybe we should have picked up wine? I don't know." Corey stood in the kitchen and nibbled at his thumbnail. He had begun that after running his hands through his hair and destroying his hairstyle three times in a row which almost caused a nervous breakdown on Mason's part. Liam reached out and gently tugged his friend's hand away from his mouth. "Wow, you are nervous. Relax, it's only Maddie and Asher." Corey groaned. "I know. But I feel this is the first time Mase and I represent this pack as emissary and consultant. Yes, you are here but nobody else is, and what if something goes wrong?" "Corey, you advised me in the past", Liam reminded him. "I know but that was in group settings. This time, it's just us." He pointed at himself and Mason who also seemed incredibly nervous. Liam almost pitied them. "Look, I felt the same way before the Alpha meeting. But it turned out fine. Maddie's a great character and I'm sure Asher is as well. I mean, otherwise, they surely wouldn't be friends." He exhaled. "I also don't think you two are even capable of starting a war or offend somebody. I know you. Mason, you're great at diplomatic stuff, and you, Corey, are great with keeping the peace. I trust you." Sometimes as an Alpha, you had to give a pep talk. Liam could relate to the anxious feeling and the fear of destroying everything but he absolutely believed in his consultant and his emissary. He would have never given them those positions otherwise.
The doorbell rang. "Okay, relax!" Liam felt like a father protecting his kids from trouble in school as he now made his way towards the front door and Mason and Corey followed closely.
And then he opened the door. "Liam! I brought the playdate for your boys" Maddie announced cheerfully and with the biggest grin on her face. She stood at the front door alone, Asher still at the car which he currently locked. Other than last time Liam saw him he was now wearing jeans, sneakers, and a grey henley. It fit him better than the suit. More like him. And it seemed like his best friend had not bothered to wait for him. It also seemed as if he was used to this given he didn't even comment on it when he now joined them at the door. "I'm thirty-one. I don't need a playdate!" He now corrected her playfully exasperated. He smiled at Liam. "Hi, I'm Asher, please ignore her." Maddie opened her mouth in mock outrage and Liam laughed. "Hi, I'm Liam, welcome. Those are Corey and Mason." He stepped aside and pointed at his friends respectively. Both raised their hands. "Hey." "Hi." Maddie had overcome her faked shock from before and stepped into the house. She continued the conversation with her best friend as nothing happened. "No, what you need is some happiness fucked back into your soul." "Oh my god!" Asher glanced at the ceiling as if he asked higher powers for help. Then he gave Liam, Mason, and Corey an exasperated glance. "Please, double-ignore her." "You can't ignore me! You love me!" She reminded him gleefully. He sighed. "I wonder why." But the banter between the friends managed to break the ice, Mason and Corey warmed up immediately, and smiles spread over their faces. "You just stepped into the house, so you don't need an extra invitation", Mason mused. Maddie nodded. "No, I don't need this. We can enter any house unless a or mountain ash barrier prevents us. Speaking off, you have one outside, right? I felt it." "A ghostly barrier created by our witch, yep", Corey confirmed. "You were only able to pass because Liam invited you. Other supernaturals without invitation would have not been able to get over it. But it's amazing you could feel that." "Sometimes we can feel those things. Not always", Maddie explained.
Mason was already on the case and lead them to the dining room where they had put the bestiary and Corey's computer. "He needs to write this down." Liam knew his friend. Maddie pointed at Asher. "I have one of those as well." Asher was more interested in what Corey and Mason had gathered. "Is that a bestiary? I've heard about those but never saw one before. Wow. How did you get that?" "From friends. Yeah, I think that's a good explanation." Corey kept it simple. It didn't need more explanation for the moment, the three of them started talking animatedly. Meadow and Liam retreated into the kitchen.
"I know it's weird. A human and a vampire being best friends. But he makes me feel normal." She smiled weakly. "I don't think it's weird." Liam shook his head. "Mason and I were friends before I became a werewolf but after I finally came clean to him, it was good to have him. To know not everything is supernatural. Sometimes I need this. Normality. I understand what you're saying." Maddie seemed happy he understood and looked at the three men. They were still deeply involved in their exchange, didn't even notice their friends being gone. "I think this was a good decision", she said quietly. "Yeah? That's good." Liam was also pleased it worked so well. She sighed. "He doesn't have many friends. Acquaintances, yes. But not those I-can-call-you-at-three-in-the-morning-because-my-whole-life-is-exploding-right-now type of friends. It's good he's meeting new people." "I thought Asher was part of your coven." Had Liam been wrong? "No, he can't be", Meadow declined, "See, vampires are independent beings. We can form covens but even then we tend to ourselves. I told you I can walk around during the day but at night, vampires are more active. You won't find a vampire sleeping during the night unless they're forced to. Our rhythm is completely different than a human's. It's not like your pack, you are humans as well. We have a human side and yet we're detached from the human living. Having a human in a vampire coven wouldn't work." It made perfect sense Liam just had not considered it before. Logical. "So best friends but not part of each other's groups. Huh, okay." "Yep." She popped the 'p'.
"How did you two meet?" Corey asked meanwhile. Asher put one arm over the headrest of his chair and looked at Meadow. He started laughing. She grinned. "Oh, I can tell you. A few years ago this vampire came to town. She had been going on my nerves for a while and causes some havoc. One night, she was on the hunt for new prey and picked Mr. Asher himself. Look at the guy, who can blame her?" Asher groaned and rolled his eyes but continued to look highly amused by how she was telling the story. "Anyways, she lures him away and I follow. She's doing the most, all seductive and sexy, and then I barge in, ready to save the innocent human. The vampire chick and I start yelling at each other, she cries about how she almost had him and what does he say? Sitting on the couch, frowning as if she insulted him, and then he hits her with: I'm gay!? Like, how could you not pick that up? Completely unfazed by the reveal about vampires." "To be fair, I knew about supernaturals through my father. It wasn't a groundbreaking discovery", Asher relented. Maddie ignored him this time. "From that moment on I knew he is game for everything. We started talking, I learned whose son he was, the rest is history." "Meaning since this moment she's pestering me and acting like my undead auntie", Asher teased her. "Well, someone has to take care you're not going to the dogs. Also, undead auntie? If anything I'm the cool auntie!" She acted arrogantly and watched her nails. "Don't be fooled, she's the one getting her heel stuck in the streets and lands on her behind while trying to get it unstuck." Asher let Liam, Mason, and Corey in on a secret. Meadow shrieked and walked over to his hit shoulder. "This was one time and absolutely not my fault." Every word was followed by a hit. He laughed and tried to stop her from hitting him. "You were drunk and the shoes too big. Which I told you in the store." "Yeah, the only fashion tip of yours actually useable." Asher groaned. "Oh god, no, not this again." Mason used this to take notes. "So calling out god in the presence of a vampire is okay. Nothing happens." "I'm not Satan. We can walk into churches without bursting in flames or getting hit by lightning too." "Demons burst in flames upon entering a church. Hence why my father never visits one", Asher put in his own two cents. Corey eyed him. "Morbid sense of humor or truth?" "Dark humor. His father is the human equivalent of a demon if you must know. Though I personally prefer to call him a walking trash pile of a human being. You never know when a demon is around and overhears. Wouldn't want to insult them", Meadow nagged and Asher shushed her. "Maddie!" "What? Your father is garbage. Not just because of his businesses but just alone based on how he treats you." "It could be worse." This didn't seem to be the first time the friends got into a spat over Asher's father. "At least, he didn't let me be homeless." "He lets you live in a tiny shoebox of an apartment and makes you pay horrendous prices for rent. The bar is so damn low and yet this rat walks beneath it with his head held high." Liam didn't want them to fight and cut in. "The joy of terrible fathers. My biological one is also one of those. But it's good to have people in your life who care about you." "You cherish them more. That's how I see it", Asher agreed. Meadow understood the peace offering as what it was and kissed his cheek. "Such a cutie." "Hate you." "Asher, you're embarrassing me in front of our new friends." "They know you for a few days now. That train has left the station. They already know how nuts you are." Mason cackled. These two gave him and Liam a run for their money. They also could banter and bicker but when push came to shove, they were there for each other and had each other's backs.
Asher returned his attention to the bestiary and pointed at an entry. "That information is false. It says nymphs are redhaired. Nymphs can have every hair color in the world, not just red. If you can, I would note that somewhere." "You can read Latin just like that?" Corey was baffled. Asher shrugged. "Sure. Learned it in school and never stopped using the skills. Especially after I met Maddie and started helping her with a few vampire-related things. Comes in handy." "Asher is good with languages. It helps him in his job as well." "What are you doing for a living?" "I'm an event planner. My client list is small but exclusive. It's not the most charitable job in the world but you have to get out of bed." And just like that, Liam decided he liked Asher immensely. He had this wicked humor you only got after years of being through an absolute shit show and from what he already heard about his father and what he saw at the meeting, Liam could see where this came from. Meadow had said Asher's mother died when he was a child, another traumatic experience. Yet here he was, talking openly with strangers and sharing things with them. Away from his father, Asher seemed more relaxed and himself. And it was obvious he cared deeply for Maddie. Liam liked people with their hearts in the right place. Those were his type of people.

I am happy I got to insert Asher more. I love this guy. I love all my characters but after I barely had a chance to write about him in the last chapter, this chapter felt good. Next chapter they all finally come together. Or do they? We will see 😁 Did you like the chapter so far? I hope I managed to bring out the friendship Maddie and Asher have. They're each other's persons.

Alone Together - meta/review
This was such a good episode! I think while I thoroughly enjoyed 4x01 and the way that it got us back into the rhythm of things especially with, you know, a pandemic happening, 4x02 got us back into the usual balance of emergency and personal aspects.
-
Spoilers below:
The episode begins with news coverage and it’s a good way to jump right into what’s happening and give us a recap to last week. And then we meet the three roommates. I can’t be bothered with remembering their names, but they were fun. The dynamic there is interesting and of course, this leads into some really awesome shots of the Hollywood sign breaking and the mudslide. The whole sequence is such a good opening for the episode and it sets our scene well. While I don’t have any complaints, this emergency is smaller scale to the tsunami and the earthquake of the past two season openings, but that isn’t much of a problem when we consider that they shot this in the middle of a pandemic. So, it works.
What I found most interesting about this episode, and in a way how it continues the stories that were begun in 4x01, is that we delve further into the personal. Not every character is featured heavily, but we get small and big moments with all of them.
Athena:
The struggle that Athena has faced since the end of last season has been handled so well. Her trauma and how it lingers on her and yet doesn’t change how strong and fierce and amazing she is, is amazing to watch. It’s inspiring. Having Athena be right in the midst of everything especially when she wasn’t supposed to be just fits so perfectly. Having her contrast with Sylvia who is afraid of leaving her own house, and having Athena rescue Sylvia and herself and not give up, not even when the voice of dispatch was her daughter asking her to save herself. I just love Athena so damn much. She went through a journey in this episode and while I don’t think that her trauma is over, I think she will push herself to move forward and move past it. If not just for herself, then for May.
I also really appreciated that we got a moment where Athena gives her approval of David by telling Michael that David looks tired. It was such a nice touch. The Athena and Michael relationship has been developed so well from S1, to a place where they are both with other people but can still be family.
And finding out that May made the choice to be a dispatcher over going to school to be about her mom felt absolutely right and I feel so much for both of them and both sides, but I do have to say that May’s outlet for her lack of control in her life/the life of her loved ones is at least healthy and it’s making a difference.
Lastly, I will never not be fond of Bobby and Athena — the way that Bobby was allowed to go search for her personally and that moment when they saw each other. His promise to always search for her. After everything Bobby went through during Athena’s attack, it’s easy to think about how difficult this was for Bobby.
Chimney:
The other big focus of this episode was Chimney. 4x01 set up the living arrangements and it was immediately apparent that while Chimney had his reasons, that he didn’t need to be as set on that. After all we’re told that both Eddie and Hen went back home to their kids, so Chim should have gone home to Maddie and his unborn baby.
It’s nice that we begin this conversation with Buck and Chim, instead of directly involving Maddie. We already know how Maddie feels about this — she misses Chim and wants him around.
Chim’s joke about his “bad joke” being a “dad joke” was perfectly in line with his type of humor and it set us up for the conversation to come in which we learn that Chim’s whole problem is not just concern about the pandemic, but a deeper fear that he won’t be a good parent. His convo with Buck certainly offers some insight into his worry, but also the willingness that Chim has to do absolutely anything necessary for his baby, whose gender the characters and us, the viewers, don’t get to know yet.
The rescues that Chimney and Buck end up going on begin with Chimney — not Buck — hearing a baby crying. And just like with Athena, the emergency itself gives Chim more insight into himself and into his situation and into what he needs to do. He rescues the baby, finds a bunch of pregnant ladies, and then goes on to deliver a baby and while talking to the mother, I think Chim finally gets to understand what the importance that being present for Maddie means.
We get a very sweet moment where Maddie arrives home and finds Chimney already there and the whole thing is just emotional enough both from Chimney’s perspective of just how pregnant Maddie is and Maddie’s surprise and joy to have him there with her. They really are the sweetest together. And by the time that we’re in the closing parts of the episode and we see Maddie and Chimney on a video call with the new roommates — uncles to be Buck and Albelt, it’s clear that they’re settled together and happy and that Chimney knows better than to argue about coffee.
Hen:
Ms. Henrietta Wilson knows how to emote with her eyes. We first see her reactions to Chimney’s bad joke and just her general demeanour and it’s all perfect, and then gets better when she’s reacting to Bobby’s facts about the Hollywood sign. In a liveblog post I said this was very Buck and I stand by it. Not just the rattling of facts, but the need to research a new place in some way.
But where it gets good is when we see Hen in the middle of the drama among the roommates. Hen does so much with just a slight widening of her eyes, or a look in a certain direction. The timing is absolutely perfect and is practically alone in making that scene funny.
Other than these small moments we don’t get much of Hen in this episode, but we do get the sweetest moment towards the end where we get to see Hen and Karen’s daughter, Nia. Not only is this little girl adorable, but with just a couple of lines, I’m sure she’s stolen every viewer’s heart. And to add to this, the love and pride that Karen feels for Hen radiates. I cannot wait for the show to go further into Hens experiences on her road to becoming a doctor.
Bobby:
Bobby mostly plays the part of a secondary character to everyone else’s story. We see plenty of him and we learn that he’s the one with facts about the Hollywood sign. Mostly, I enjoyed that he played a part in finding Athena and I think it was an interesting choice to have him keep his composure and be professional. In some ways this relates to May and the conversation that May has with Maddie about the need to put feelings and personal stuff aside to do the job. And yet we know that after what Athena has recently gone through, that none of that could have been easy for Bobby.
Eddie:
Very little Eddie once more. I’m honestly not concerned about it to be honest. I’ve seen a lot of talk about how little he shows up in promo stuff and all that, but I just think it’s important to remember that this is an ensemble show with a rather large cast and that it’s entirely possible focus on his character will come in other episodes. And to consider that he’s one of the characters that was chosen for the cross-over.
But we did get to see minor Buck and Eddie interaction, and more importantly we got to see Eddie and Christopher.
And I think it was so important to bring Carla in, even over video, because she really is a huge part of Chris’ life. It does lead to the question of who is taking care of Christopher while Eddie is at work? How is school being handled for him? And it was just so lovely to see Eddie fall asleep at a bedtime story too.
Buck:
He is just so damn smart. Who would have thought to follow the feedback to find that baby? Buck is the kind of character that takes in the variables and finds a way to problem solve. He’s the kind of smart that you want and need in a crisis. And he’s also very cognizant of what’s going on with Chimney and his sister enough to be able to try and get through to Chimney about how he needs to move back home. I just love the consistency of having Buck be research crazy, quick to figure things out, and still at times a dumbass. It’s what makes him so perfect.
I also appreciate that he’s called out for having too many rules by Albert and I just want to know all about the rules that Buck would impose on those staying at his place other than the sharing of chores that is mentioned in the episode.
I’m also very curious about Buck and his therapist, the covid crush that literally everyone on the internet scoffed at and figured out even before last week’s episode aired. We were all right. It was fun to see all the crazy theories, though. But I do find it interesting that Buck feels he needs to hide the therapist from everyone because that isn’t really about what he and the therapist might be talking about, as much as it is about not wanting to be judged for needing a therapist.
And his feelings are absolutely valid. Not because I think anyone in the 118, or Maddie, will judge him for needing it, but that they do sometimes her pushy with things and wanting to know more — we see that already with the covid crush thing — but I think it’s also to do with not wanting to explain himself and all of this is even more valid with the knowledge that we have about Buck’s parents showing up.
But, the fandom at large has wanted Buck to talk to a professional for a long time, so I think we’re all very happy that he’s getting help. And I’m also very glad that we got the reveal in this episode and it wasn’t drawn out and made out to be something it isn’t for much longer.
Dr. Copeland. They really know how to pick names on 9-1-1, don’t they?
But of the small clip we get to see of her, it is clear that she is helping Buck and Buck begins the therapy session we get to see by admitting that Dr. Copeland might be right about him hiding his true feelings and Buck, holy hell, what does that mean?
Because, it could literally mean anything. It could be about his sexuality and discovery about his romantic feelings about a fellow firefighter. Or it could be that it’s about how much of himself he hides away or doesn’t present to the world in light of, you know, all the trauma that he’s faced and that we’ve all wanted addressed. This could also tie in some way to his past and that doesn’t have to take away from possible reveals about his sexuality. Mostly, it just makes me more and more excited for Buck Begins.
Overall, an excellent episode. I love the things it touches upon and how the show isn’t steering directly into a deep focus on covid and instead giving us these moments of things have changed and this is how it is now from seeing everyone in masks, to seeing Hen going to her class online, and even down to Buck’s therapy happening over a screen. It is excellently handled when it comes to David and Michael and not only in the confirmation that they are living together in spite of the possible contact with the virus, but in how we see them handle that. Michael taking care of his man. All of that was lovely.
The episode closed out on an amazing note, giving us these momentary glimpses into where everyone is and their familial spaces and the love and acceptance felt there and all the small tidbits and hints at what may be coming up.
