favorite sapphic ships (can be from any media), go‼️‼️
Happy to do my part during Lesbian Visibility Week 🫡 (No order except for the last one being my fave)
1. Clarke/Lexa (The 100) - Unfortunately a victim of bury yours gays but first time for me seeing a Sapphic ship and I was like "girls....kissing girls?! Interesting this means nothing to me." (<- liar)
2. Emma/Regina (Once Upon a Time) - Same as before, just one of the earliest f/f ships for me
3. Korra/Asami (TLOK) - Didn't get why this was canon when I first watched it (I had yet to have some Realizations lmao), rewatched it at some point and was like Oh. oooohhhhh
4. Nobara/Maki (JJK) - Nobara is the lesbian of all time omg....the way she talks about Maki and appreciates her SO much. Maki so clearly appreciating her company and her support (but also maybe doesn't even know how much Nobara is so Ready to Fight anyone). They keep getting put on dates in official art....I know what they are....
5. Nami/Vivi (One Piece) - It has been...twenty one years (of irl time) since these two were separated...when they're reunited (which seems like it could hopefully be soon) it's gonna be the biggest Yuri event in the world (to me). LOVE them so much the way they looked out for each other throughout everything and Vivi recognizing Nami's strengths and Nami even though she's scared of fighting getting hurt because she loves Vivi SO much. Girls of all time.
6. Ymir/Historia (AOT) - I've had my issues with AOT so I don't end up talking about it a lot, but this is hands down the best ship. Historia was my fave character and they were IT to each other and the final letter Ymir sends to her is top five most devastating moments in the whole series. Love some tragic lesbians.
7. Hinako/Asashi (Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon) - Read a lot of published yuri at one point and this one was a standout. Hinako struggles with comphet, anxiety, trying to meet people's expectations of her, and is also good ace rep! The two of them start out as friends and Hinako coming to accept herself is sooo good, probably some of the best canon rep I've read (need an anime for this asap)
8. Rhaenicent (HOTD) - After Game of Thrones bombed so spectacularly at the end I thought I would not like HOTD, but they brought me back on board with the toxic lesbians. Literally inseparable from each other at the start and the one person that they trust, and it just devolves as EVERYONE around them fucks them over in a way where they end up blaming the other and are bitter and hostile about it, but even still after everything you can tell there's some love that never went away truly? Insane.
9. Pharah/Mercy (Overwatch) - ...Exposing myself as an overwatch fan....But these two have some of the gayest voicelines in the entire game (Pharah is my main so I would know lmao. I'm also automatically gay for any Mercy that pocket heals/buffs me ajssllflglh). Fly through the skies together and protect each other...HEAVY flirting while they're at it...Mercy is like the one person to know about Pharah's mommy issues....Yeah I like them lmao.
10. Utena/Anthy (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - Woooaaahhhh who saw this one coming as my fave sapphic ship....everyone? Ok. Anyways ship of all time to me. It's healthy. It's toxic. It's doomed. It's saved. It's canon. I can't even really put into words in one short paragraph why they work so well, but them and their relationship are the heart of RGU. When they get to the point where Utena realizes that what Anthy doesn't need is a prince to save her, rather that Anthy needs her own agency, and Anthy is FINALLY able to leave her abusive situation through that agency, and be able to find and love Utena with full trust. The queer and feminist themes of RGU really just make it unlike any other ship that I've seen.

Old Avatar Idea
When I was younger, my sister and I were big Avatar TLA/TLOK fans. Can't speak for her, but after Legend of Korra, my interest sort of faded after a while, but with the Live action here, it rekindled my interest a bit, not enough to watch the live-action show, but enough to make me remember an old idea I had:
After Legend of Korra, I wondered if there would be another animated series after her adventures, and even came up with an idea for the next avatar:
Idea
So, the next Avatar after Korra would be born an Earthbender, specifically, one that was good at metalbending.
Would be a girl (Haven't come up with a name.) and she would be about 16 years old when her adventures start.
But she wouldn't be much of a fighter at first, more of an artist, using her abilities to construct stone and metal statues and sculptures.
In fact, the way it would be identified she was the avatar is in a brief moment, she would unconsciously use a bit of firebending to make glass art.
She herself would actually have an indifferent view on being the Avatar, acknowledging that it is an important role, but questioning if the world she lives in even needs an Avatar anymore, or at least at the moment.
Her parents would actually try to hide the fact she's the avatar for a long time, out of fear of the dangers it could bring. And she allows since she doesn't really think the world really needs her to be the Avatar. So they would actively encourage her not to do anything to show she's the Avatar.
On the other side of the coin, there are people who demand that she starts being the Avatar because it is her responsibility and get angry when she doesn't act like the Avatar they want her to be.
So, for the largest part of her life, she sort of just let others choose for her, so that causes a lot of internal conflict since she's not sure what to choose and realizes no one has actually ever asked her what she wants or who she wants to be.
Her personal journey would focus on moving away from other people's expectations and letting others make major personal decisions for her.
She would learn to speak for herself and make her own choices on who she wants to be as a person and as the Avatar. And making it clear that being the Avatar is not her whole identity. There's more to her outside of that.
She would also learn to she shouldn't take the role of Avatar lightly, as the world will always need the Avatar, but that's secondary to the other stuff.
I also had an idea of there being benders who could bend multiple elements as well, (such as being able to bend both water and fire) not just the Avatar, though they would never have the spiritual abilities the Avatar has and even multi-benders have their limits.
While the idea of multi-benders would be a source of conflcit, the new Avatar wouldn't have an issue with that, and would even encourage the idea, much to the dismay of those who believe only the Avatar could master multiple elements.
Naturally, I added ideas than what I had all those years ago. It might be fun to do more with this idea someday, so we'll see how this goes.

Avatar Studios’ CG animation will be 2D, not 3D stylized to look 2D like Spider-Verse and Arcane
In a new interview with Comic Con Meta*Pod, Avatar Studios co-head Bryan Konietzko revealed that the upcoming animated content coming from the studio will be 2D, not 3D. However, he and Mike don’t confirm that it will be traditionally animated, and hint that it won’t be fully.
We know that the movies are supposed to be CG, and that they’re developing a custom 2D CG style. It was speculated that this meant they would be following in the footsteps of animation such as the Spider-Verse movies and Arcane series, which are animated in 3D stylized to look 2D. Avatar Studios has confirmed that they won’t be doing this-- though they considered it last year, which could be why they said it would be CG at the time.
The animation will be 2D. However, I’m guessing the reason they’re hinting that it’s not all traditional animation like ATLA and TLOK is because the “CG” aspect is still there. They say they’re “starting” from hand drawings, not that the animation itself will be hand-drawn, but it’s pretty vague.
Here’s the full excerpt (from the section starting at 1:16:15 in the podcast linked above):
Bryan: “We love all sorts of animation, and we’re gonna be doing all sorts of things, but our main bread and butter is 2D animation. It’s an homage to anime and all the stuff that we love. That doesn’t mean we’re gonna be, like, hardcore straightedge 2D using cels and painting the backgrounds with poster paint. The way we always look at it is: start with hand-drawn, handmade artwork and then: what can technology do to help us enhance it, to help us deepen it, to help the filmmaking, to make it more cinematic? But we’re always gonna be coming at it from that [2D] direction. We’re not planning on doing anything, at the moment, especially none of our big projects, that are starting purely 3D and then trying to stylize them. We looked at it, we thought about it, and there’s beautiful stuff happening in that space-- Arcane and Spider-Verse are gorgeous and groundbreaking and pushing the envelope, but that’s their own look and we’re not chasing that stuff. We didn’t form Avatar Studios to go chasing someone else’s coattails. I think that stuff’s beautiful, but a ton of other studios are chasing those looks. Leave that to them; those artists worked hard to form that look and we’re looking hard to form our own look, but we’re not doing anything purely 3D.”
I almost hesitate to make this post at all because I think they’re being pretty coy about what the animation itself will actually look like in the end, i.e. how they’re making characters move. This new info makes me think that the art style will be more-or-less replicating what ATLA and TLOK looked like (what it looks like if you pause it), but that the animation itself (what it looks like in motion) might not be. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to be traditional animators drawing every frame like before, but rather some kind of new computer animating process with the 2D visual starting point. However, again, they’re being really vague so we don’t know for sure.

Jet + anime connections. A bit of trivia for those who don’t know.
As mentioned in Avatar: the Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series, Jet’s character design “pays homage to” Spike from Shinichiro Watanabe’s anime series Cowboy Bebop (1998).
Spike’s design was based on Yusaku Matsuda, a Japanese film star famous for playing charismatic action heroes. Cowboy Bebop also featured a different character named Jet Black.
Jet does also seem to have been inspired by another character from Shinichiro Watanabe’s creations, Mugen from Samurai Champloo (2004). This show’s other main characters are a guy Jin and a girl Fuu (who has a pet squirrel called Momo).
In the English dub of these series, the voice actor for Spike and Mugen was Steve Blum who also played Amon and others in TLOK.
According to Avatar Extras, the fight between Jet and Aang in the Book One episode Jet was inspired by Samurai Champloo (as well as Naruto). Jet and Zuko’s fight in the Book 2 episode City of Walls and Secrets also seems to have been inspired by Mugen and Jin’s fight in the teahouse in the first episode Tempestuous Temperaments.

My Controversial Opinions on Avatar #5
- Some guy fans, especially straight ones, fail to emphasize with female characters such as Korra and Katara because they don't understand their struggles and the weight of such events in their life simply because it's something out of the common male experience.
Per example, Katara being the forced to grown faster and take the role as "parent" to take care of Sokka. Sokka was the oldest sibling, so he should be the one to do this but he is a guy and roles like that is expected from woman and not man. In Hill House we also see a example of this with Shirley assuming this role despite Steve being the oldest.
And they fail to realize all that was happening with Korra in the final scenes of The Voice in the night, when facing Amon for the first time. It wasn't just about the bendings, that scene was built as a SA scene, that happily didn't happen because it's a kids show. And the fact that they don't recognize this, like it really needs to be explicit for some to see it?
-And since we are talking about him, I think The Voice in the night is one of the darkest episodes on the show especially because it is built like a nightmare becoming reality and as a woman, the situation that Korra experience in those last scenes is a legit fear, that something like that can happen.
-Change the animation style is bad. The style of Avatar animation is a visual identity of the show. Let's also not forget that both tla and tlok are uniques when they came out, bringing something new and with an animation work that wasn't the main trend at the respective times when they came out
Yes, Arcane animation style is beautiful and all but it's just not Avatar's. Sure, have a avatar shorts series or short movie in this style would be cool but keep it like that and not in a main new show.
- Mako is stronger than Zuko. First, I don't think Zuko is this strong as a bender, he is fine but he def ain't the strongest firebender in the show. And second the technics and fight styles evolved, in Zuko's time lightning was hard and rare but in Mako' time it feels like something most firebenders can do.
I think only Katara and Toph would be able to beat this "time rule" and be the hardest ones to defeat in a Gaang vs Krew combat. Even with the evolution of the bendings and Lava bending, Bolin is nowhere near Toph's level and Katara would give Korra a hardest fight than Aang's.
And since we are talking about fight, fans usually forget that martial arts and fighting technics evolve over time. Tla is a war so it's fair to have those massive combat and display of power. Tlok is more urban so they have to adjust the fighting style to let the benders be able to fight in a small alley without destroying a entire neighborhood in the process.
