He knocked on the door of the spice shop, nervously fussing with the ends of his maroon dress shirt. He smoothed his hair back and shifted the bouquet of flowers in his hands. He'd tried to dress as nicely as he could for this dinner. The ring box in his pocket pressed against his thigh and he patted the outline of it. He'd spent weeks perfecting his technique to form the gemstone the jeweler had used.
He could have bought one, yes, but that didn't feel good enough to express his adoration for you. He did some experimenting and found a way to form vision emeralds rather than glasses, and practiced controlling the shape. The ring in the box had three emeralds he'd made, with the largest in the center holding a smaller version of the image of your wedding day. He was rather proud of it. He knew that he didn't have to, that you would have appreciated it no matter what, that you wanted him even if you had nothing to give. But he wanted to give you everything.
You'd shown him how much you wanted him in the past few weeks. Since he'd told his family about your relationship you had spent more time at the Madrigal home, staying for dinners and bonding with the family.
At first when he told them, his family was upset. Pepa and Félix most of all, he assumed because they thought you were meant to marry Camilo. Though surprisingly Camilo hadn't seemed shocked. He later confided in Bruno that he could tell you cared for Bruno more deeply than Camilo, and that he was happy for his uncle.
He was glad Camilo hadn't been hurt, he never wanted to hurt this family. Dolores had known, of course she did, she heard everything that happened in this town. You had told Luisa before he told the rest of the family. She was your best friend after all. She saw how happy you were, and how happy her uncle was, and was supportive of it.
His mother was a different story.
***
"She is 20 Bruno!" Alma shouted, pointing a finger at him. He shrank slightly under his gaze before shaking his head.
"I know Mama," he said. Alma paced in the kitchen and fussed nervously with her hair, muttering to herself.
"Bruno how could you do this? You should know better she's Luisa's age." Alma snapped. Bruno reached out to take her hands, turning her to face him.
"Mama I didn't pursue her, she did." He said. Alma seemed taken aback at first and she shook her head.
"Why would she do that?" She asked. Bruno shrugged and shook his head.
"I have no idea, but, look." He reached into one of the large pockets of his ruana and removed the vision glass, handing it to her. She stared at it, tipping it back and forth to look for changes, before she sighed and let it drop a few inches onto the table, turning away with a frown.
Bruno jumped for the glass, picking it up and examining it for cracks. He looked back to his mother, frustration evident on his face. He loved his mother, and he knew she only wanted what was best for him and for you. But he had given you up once because of his own foolishness, he was not about to lose you because of the foolishness of others.
"Can't you just be happy?" He asked. She stopped her pacing, turned to him to match his expression before her face softened. She looked to the glass in his hands.
"Your visions have never been wrong." She said, looking between the glass in his hands and his face. Bruno shook his head.
"Not once." He confirmed. Alma took a deep breath and looked down to her hands, smoothing her skirt down. "I love her Mama." He said softly, looking down at the vision tablet with a smile. He turned his attention back to his mother.
"Then do this right." She said, setting her hand on his cheek. He'd nodded. It was his plan all along, since he'd discovered it was him in the vision rather than Camilo.

The door of the shop opened to reveal Javier, with a confused look on his face. The confusion shifted quickly to anger when he saw Bruno and the flowers. Bruno had to stick his foot in the door to keep Javier from slamming it in his face.
"Señor please," Bruno said, holding his hand against the door. Javier hesitated.
"I have something important I need to discuss with you." Bruno explained. His voice was determined and confident. He was thankful it didn't betray how his heart thudded against his ribcage and his knees felt like they would give out.
Javier looked him up and down from under his thick brows. His beard moved as he chewed on his words. Bruno swore if he could actually see the man’s face he wouldn't be as intimidating, but he knew that was a lie.
"No." Javier said, trying to shut the door again. Bruno heard your voice ring through the shop. His heart fluttered when he heard it and he couldn't help but smile.
"Papa is that Señor Madrigal?" You called. Your father stopped and turned to respond, shooting Bruno a warning glance.
"Si mi Niña, but he was just leaving." Javier called. Bruno cleared his throat and tried to keep the smug look off his face.
"Papa I invited him for dinner!" You appeared in the doorway, reaching around your father, and pulling the door open all the way. You reached out and took Bruno's free hand, pulling him into the shop. Your skin was soft and warm against his and he longed for the feeling of your body on his again.
"Come Señor, dinner is almost ready." You said. He offered you the flowers with a smile.
"For you Señorita." He said. You took the bouquet from him and leaned in to sniff the flowers. You looked up to him with a smile.
"Gracias Señor, I'll put these in a vase." You said. Javier stammered and took one thundering step before you turned to face him.
"You really should put this silly feud behind you," you said. Your father drew back and puffed his chest out as you shook your head. "He doesn't control the future, he only sees it." You said, still holding the bouquet of flowers. Your father let out a huff and looked back to Bruno with narrowed eyes. His face softened, and he let out a sigh.
"Alright mi Niña, we'll start with dinner." Javier said gently. You beamed and disappeared into the back room with the flowers. Javier immediately turned on him and pointed one large finger in his face.
"You get one night. If I see you near my daughter again I'll throw you out of the Encanto myself." He snarled. Bruno drew back slightly and stood a little taller, glancing to the doorway that lead to the dining room.
"We really should stop. For her." Bruno said, tipping his head towards the doorway. Javier drew back and furrowed his brows. "It's what's best." He said, turning away from Javier. Javier snarled.
"Who are you to tell me what's best for my daughter?" He whispered harshly as you crossed from the kitchen to the dining room, turning and smiling at him. Bruno returned your smile and waved before turning back to your father.
"We both want her to be happy, don't we?" Bruno asked. Javier crossed his arms over his chest and sighed, nodding slowly, like it was painful to be in agreement with Bruno. Bruno tilted his head as if to say "see?" Javier rolled his eyes and walked through the doorway into the back room, with Bruno following closely.
"I made lechona, I hope you're hungry." You said with a laugh. Bruno smiled and your father stepped in front of him, shooting a harsh glare over his shoulder.
"Papa, can you set the table?" You asked. Javier turned to you with a soft smile and nodded, shooting a warning glance to Bruno before making his way to the cupboard for a tablecloth.
"Señor could you help me?" You asked, waving Bruno to the counter to stand beside you. He was by your side in an instant, standing just close enough that he could barely smell the scent of honey wafting off your hair.
"Señor, hm?" He whispered softly. You smiled and looked to make sure your father wasn't watching, then bumped his hip with your own playfully. He turned and leaned his forehead against your temple just for a moment, smiling.
"Señorita?" You retorted, raising your eyebrows. He smiled and helped you plate the dishes onto the three plates in front of you.
"Soon to be Señora Madrigal." He teased, pressing a quick kiss against your temple. You tried to hide your smile and turned your attention back to the plates in front of you.
He couldn't deny how nervous he was. How his heart thudded in his chest when he felt the impression of the ring box in his pocket, how hard he'd worked to make the perfect emerald. He couldn't ignore how his hands shook at the idea of asking for your hand before he'd even asked Javier for his permission.
But when your hand brushed against his as you reached over him, when you leaned against him slightly, kissing his cheek quickly, he knew it would all be worth it if he could have that every day.
When you had finished the plates, and Javier had set the table, you picked up two of the plates to carry to the table. Bruno picked up the third. You set the plates with one at the head of the table and one to the left for Bruno, skipping the spot closest to the end. You turned around and Bruno set your plate in your spot with a smile.
"For you, Señorita." He said. You thanked him and he pulled your chair out for you. You adjusted your skirt and took the hand he offered, sitting gingerly in your seat. He gently pushed the chair in and did his best to ignore the pointed glares from Javier. He took his own place, right next to you, and waited for you to give the signal for everyone to eat.
Dinner was calm at first. You and Bruno spoke so easily, and though he did his best to engage with Javier the man was steadfast in ignoring him. The box was burning a hole in his pocket and every few minutes he would nervously pat his thigh, afraid it would disappear. Finally, Javier spoke.
"You said you had something to discuss?" He asked Bruno. Bruno nodded and set his fork on the table, using his napkin to hide his face slightly as he cleared his throat before setting that beside his fork. He rested one hand on the table and turned to Javier, trying to steady the shaking in his hands.
"Si, I do," He looked to your father, trying not to shy away from his stern face. You set your hand on top of Bruno's and he felt the tension lift from his shoulders. Javier narrowed his eyes at the exchange and you returned the look, silently defending Bruno.
"Your daughter is a very special woman," he said, Javier sat back in his chair and set his fork down on the table before gripping the edge. "Getting to know her over the past year has been a privilege." He continued.
"Spending time with her has made me happier than I've ever been, and I hope she feels the same." He turned his attention to you. You smiled, then looked back to your father. The muscles in Javier's jaw jumped and Bruno steeled himself against the man.
"I wanted to ask, if she would give me the honor," He reached into his pocket and pulled the ring box out, opening it to reveal a perfect emerald set into a platinum band, with two smaller emeralds shaped like peppermint leaves framing it on either side. "Of giving me her hand in marriage." He said. You were quick to respond, already holding your hand out for him to slide the ring onto your finger.
Javier however was not as accepting.
"Absolutamente no!" He snapped, slamming his palm flat on the table. You immediately turned on him. The ring fit perfectly but the joy of that was short lived as you snarled at your father.
"I don't think that's your decision." You said. Bruno leaned back slightly and Javier did the same, shocked at your outburst. Javier turned to Bruno, standing from the chair, and pointing to the door of the shop.
"Get out." He said. Bruno stood and squared his shoulders, refusing. He had expected Javier to be unhappy, but he wasn't about to back down and let you go again.
"No." He stated, stepping a little closer to you. Javier growled and you stood, looping an arm around Bruno's waist to tuck yourself against his side.
"If ne leaves I'm leaving with him." You said. Javier blinked in surprise and looked between you and Bruno. He opened his mouth, unable to find his words for a moment.
"Mi Niña, he's old enough to be your father." He said, gesturing angrily to Bruno. Bruno stood steadfast and tried to ignore the pounding of his heart against his ribcage. He put his arm around your shoulders, holding you tight against him. He looked to you and his gaze softened for a moment before he turned back to your father.
"I don't care, I love him." You said. At that Bruno's heart stopped, then did flips in his chest. His eyes glowed a bright green and he had to shake his head to clear the green hue. He hadn't ever thought, even with the knowledge that you were his future wife, that he would ever hear you say those words about him. That you would ever say you loved him let alone to your father. He snapped himself out of his stupor, trying not to smile so wide.
"(Y/n)," Javier said, and you stiffened. "I forbid this. You will listen to me. Come here." He said, reaching for you. You stepped away from him, tugging Bruno with you.
"I'm not a child anymore Papa, I can make my own decisions." You said. Javier huffed out through his nose. "And I choose Bruno. If you don't support me then you will lose your daughter." You stood straight. Bruno could feel how tight your grip was on his shirt and he rubbed your shoulder comfortingly.
"The last time that man got involved in our lives we lost your mother!" Javier pleaded, "Because of him!" You shook your head and Bruno bared his teeth.
"You know that wasn't my doing." Bruno said. Javier shook his head.
"Your visions come true Madrigal. You had a vision of her abandoning her family and it happened." Havier said. Bruno quirked an eyebrow and exchanged a glance with you, before turning back to Javier.
"My visions come true, then?" Bruno prodded. Javier rolled his eyes and sneered.
"No need to rub it in." He said, crossing his arms over his chest. Bruno took a deep breath and reached into the satchel he'd brought with him, that now hung on the back of his chair. He removed the vision glass that showed your wedding to him.
"Then you have no argument." Bruno said, setting the vision glass on the table. Javier picked it up and tipped it back and forth the way his mother had. Bruno laced his fingers with yours, feeling the cold band of your ring against his own fingers. Javier slowly set the glass back on the table, jaw clenched.
"You want this? Him?" Javier asked you. You nodded intently and leaned against Bruno. Javier took a deep breath and turned to Bruno.
"A father's job is to protect his child," he said. Bruno lifted his chin, unsure where this was leading. "But there comes a time, when you have to let them go." Javier finished slowly. Bruno was startled at how easily he had turned after he saw the vision glass.
"Mi Niña, I see how happy you are here." He pointed to the vision glass, "and as much as I dislike him, he has been good to you." Javier said, giving Bruno a pointed stare. "If this is what you want, if this is what will make you happy," You nodded enthusiastically and smiled. Javier sighed.
"Then I will support you." He said. Bruno couldn't stop his own smile and you turned to him, kissing his cheek excitedly.
"But you," Javier pointed to Bruno, "if you hurt her I'll make good on my promise to boot you out of the Encanto." He said. Bruno nodded.
"I could never hurt her."

Oh... oh no
I have a fantasy fictional character type
I keep drawing similarities between Julian Devorak from the Arcana and Bruno Madrigal from Disney's Encanto, and I have fallen into a bizarre pit
So here's a comparative list that absolutely no one asked for:
• curly hair
• definitely outside my dating age range
• anxious mess of human beings
• please help my fictional boyfriends the professional help they need
• uncanny animal companions
• *theatrics* *the drama* *theater*
• considerate of others
• self sacrificing
• self-sacrifice for the people they love
• self-sacrificing to the point of absolutely hurting their own health and sanity
• FAMILY is a big priority for both characters
• HIDING!!!!! FOR YEARS!!!! (HIDING FROM THE LAW, HIDINGS FROM THE FAMILIA)
• no normal entrance will do. Coming in through the windows? Backwards fall behind the painting?
• pry this idea from my cold, dead hands, but they are both subs
• not to infantize them, the are definitely subs
• god help me, but they deserve happy fulfilling romantic/sexual relationships and possibly a family (if they so desired)
• do not egg me on for fanfic. I've already got 20+ unfinished in my Encanto fanfic alone and am trying to grasp how my writing skills have declined in quality in my arcana blog

So my great-grandmother was superstitious and one of her beliefs was in you plucked one gray hair, three would grow back. So what if Bruno's wifey, who'd love to see him with gray hair, plucked his first one to excitedly show him, and now they're playing a game of chase because wifey wants to find more but Bruno doesn't want gray hair
Eyo Anon! It’s actually pretty cool since my mom has similar supersitions as well! She never liked us plucking her gray hairs since she thought they’ll multiply too! But my dad has other plans with the his gray hairs—he paid us 1 Peso for every strand we pluck out, so it became our favorite pass time when I was a kid XD
AND THE IDEA IS SO CUUUTE AAWWW <3 Imagine them having an all out war on that HAHAHAHAHAHA With that, I give you: this little piece!

Gray Hairs
(Bruno Madrigal x GN!Reader)
If there was anything that would describe Bruno Madrigal, it would be superstitious. It’s a known fact in the family. Even the whole town knows about his superstitious rituals!
It was just like any other day; swaying palms, clear skies, and a nice summer’s breeze had lulled Bruno into a peaceful slumber on a hammock just outside the Casita. It’s been so long since he had a proper siesta, and what other time than to enjoy the lazy afternoon when Julieta has so graciously offered to take the kids to help her with the stall of healing remedies in the town square? It was rare for him to have spare time these days, especially when he and you were the designated babysitters for all the kids.
You had just arrived from hanging the sheets that you had meticulously laundered, carrying around an empty basket while wiping your damp hands to your apron. You had to stop, however, when you spotted your darling husband peacefully napping under the shade of palma de ceras—where the comfy hammock was tied on the barks while the summer draft swayed him to and fro. He was adorable in every means; his little snores, the way his nose scrunched when a few petals from a nearby tabebuia tickled him, and the way his normally fidgety hands were laid at rest on the side of his head like a makeshift pillow.
You decided to approach your husband quietly and tuck a strand of his hair behind his ear when you noticed a streak of gray amidst his curls. You knew the both of you were growing old—thirty nine, to be exact—but to already have gray hairs at this age? Now that’s just a bit too early.
Just as soon as you had reached out to pluck the gray strand out, his eyes fluttered open. He looked confused. Dazed. It was understandable, really. He just came from a pleasant nap after all.
“Hola, tonto. Had a nice nap?” You asked cheekily. He tried to blink the sleep out of his eyes.
“Wha–what—? What are you doing?” He asked, confused. You chuckled and gave his cheeks a kiss, his stubble tickling your lips every so slightly. You heard him sputter out in surprise.
“Sorry if I woke you, but I didn’t know you were getting this old,” you laughed while plucking the strand from his head. He yelped and squirmed from his hammock, managing to tangle his arms and legs together in his haste to catch your retreating hands. He was proven unsuccessful with his attempts when he fell face first into the grass below. You remained undeterred while you waved around the gray strand with a grin, leaning your weight to the side with the laundry basket poised under your arms. “See? Getting old.”
“A gray—a gray strand?!” He exclaimed, clumsily rising to his feet. His ruana whipped around him with the intensity of his rising, but it soon backfired on him when he fell a second time. Whether it was because he stood too soon or because of his own clumsiness was beyond you. But you found it adorable nonetheless. He shuffled up his feet while using the hammock to balance himself (a wrong move, you noted. He was wobbilly all over) and leaned forward with furrowed brows. “And you—and you plucked it out?!”
“You’re only thirty-nine, amor. Way too early to have a gray strand. I just did you a favor.” You had to hold a snort when he gave you the most offended, most incredulous look on his face.
“No, no, no! I’m going to get more gray strands now that you plucked it out!” He exclaimed, his eyes wide and wild. Filled with a sudden sense of mischief, you felt yourself grin excitedly. You put the laundry basket down and raised the strand of gray hair eye level to you and Bruno while giggling.
“Can I look for more gray hairs? Please~?” He scrambled away from you and raised his arms in defense, covering his head with the hood of his ruana while he did so.
“No! Absolutely not! I don’t want any more gray hairs!”
“Oh hush, that’s just a myth! I wanna look for more gray hairs! Pleeeaase?”
“No!” With a panicked—almost scared—huff, he ran inside the Casita to escape your mischievous whims. He knew once you had your mind set, you were never going to let him go until you were satisfied. Despite the headstart Bruno had in this impromptu race for his life, you immediately chased after him while waving that one gray strand proudly around the air.
“Come on, amor! Pretty please? It won’t hurt a bit!”
“L-look, I love you and all, but I won’t let you pluck more!” He scrambled his way to the kitchen and stopped at the other side of the table. He positioned his arms ready at both sides, anticipating your next move. You mimicked his pose and stared him down determinedly.
“Don’t make me ask Casita to help me catch you!”
“Try me!” When you moved yourself a bit to the left, he immediately dove right. When you moved to the opposite side, he shuffled his way away from you. This process repeated for a ridiculous amount of times.
“Pleaaase? It would make me so happy if you just let me find more!” You tried to plead again. He shook his head and pulled his hood further down.
“If you continue plucking out my gray hairs I’d have a head full of it after!”
“That’s just a myth!”
“No it’s not!”
Needless to say, you had to rope the kids into your schemes to hold their tio down after dinner whilst you and your cute little niece and nieces plucked out gray hairs from Bruno’s head.
And he was not happy with it.
But seeing the grinning faces of his niece and nieces when they got a coin for every gray strand was worth the struggle.

Dance Macabre (Bruno x Chubby Reader)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bruno Madrigal hears that there is another seer in town and curiosity gets the better of him. But it turns out there's more than meets the eye with this new person.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys. I'm back. This was longer than expected, I kept going back and forth on concepts. Anyways I hope you enjoy romancing the rat man himself.
---------------------------------------------------------
Bruno was glad that his family was accepting of him after his disappearance. Though it seemed like not all the village felt the same. No one was outright rude, but he knew. Between visions and whispered words, it was obvious.
So when he first found out about you, he was hesitant. Dolores had heard rumors of a seer setting up camp outside of town. You coming was fine, but a new self-proclaimed seer. This was odd.
Next was Luisa, she came home one day with a love struck look on her face. When her mother asked her about it at dinner, she said she went to the seer. And thanks to her she finally got the courage to confess to her friend. A sweet young girl, who obviously shared the same feelings, but was also to shy to confess.
After word spread about the help she gave the Madrigal family, she was flooded with customers. Everyone and their brother was going to see her. On top of that, they were singing her praises.
He didn't get it. What did she have that he didn't? So realizing that this situation was driving him crazy, he went to see her. After he figured out how to talk one of the kids into joining him. Mirabel was great moral support, but not the most tactful.
“So Tio is there any reason you want to go meet the new seer?”
“I was curious is all.” He trailed off, ringing his hands together. This would have been less nerve wracking with one of his rats. But she had talked him out of bringing any of them. Saying that a lot of people didn't like rats and we didn't want to scare the woman. Still he wished he was petting one of them for comfort.
“Well, I think it's a great idea. You both already have so much in common.” She said with a sly look coming across her face.
“What are you getting at Mirabel.” This conversation was not helping his anxiety.
“Just that, you guys might hit it off.”
“I haven't even met the woman.” He said with a stern look.
They had reached a large tent on the edge of town. A sign staked in the ground said ‘Madam (Y/N)’. Bruno hesitated at the entrance, he had no idea how to announce himself.
Mirabel saw her uncle's struggle and rolled her eyes. She grabbed his hand and shoved through the tent flap.
They where greeted by an unexpected sight. A full figured women was chasing a cat around the room.
“Get back here you demon!” Her round cheeks were flushed red.
Bruno wondered how long she had been chasing the cat. He was brought out of his thoughts by the feline leaping at him. With just enough of a reaction, he managed to catch it. It was only then that he noticed the scarf in it’s mouth.
She came to a sliding stop, mere inches from his nose. Her warm huffing breath hitting his face. She had such enchanting eyes, he found himself lost in them.
“Oh, thank you.” She scooped the bundle from his arms and scolded the cat. “ I’ve told you not to steal my scarfs. I’ll never understand why you’re so obsessed with them.” She took the accessory from it and began to tie the scarf around her head. “Now, how can I…Brunito?”
His eyes widened in shock. “Yes, I mean, have we met before?” He was sure he would remember someone so bewitching.
“Not quite. I had a session with some of your family. You came up a lot.” Her inviting manner was intoxicating.
So much so that he had forgotten Mirabel was there, until she cleared her throat. “Tio Bruno, I realized that Abuela needed my help this afternoon. It was great seeing you again Madam (Y/N).” She rushed from the tent.
Wait, she had been here before? Bruno had a suspicious that there may have been ulterior motives for her agreeing to come along. Suddenly he felt a warm hand on his arm, he jolted in surprise. Then blushed when he saw the gentle reassuring smile on her face.
“Would you join me for afternoon tea?” She said in a soft tone. “I may even have some sweets from my travels to go with it.”
He hesitated, glancing to her table he saw a steaming cup of tea, so they had interupted. But on the other hand, it would be rude to not accept an invitation. So he nodded and sat at the table as she looked for snacks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bruno wasn’t sure he could remember enjoying the company of someone outside of his family. He had the most pleasant afternoon with you. The conversation flowed. When there was a silent moment, it didn’t feel awkward.
The relief he felt when neither of you brought up your profession was also great. It was as if you both understood the weight of the job and kept it out of the conversation.
He couldn't remember a more pleasant afternoon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As he returned home, he didn't expect the onslaught of questions he would get at the door.
“What did they do?”
“Have tea.”
“What did they talk about?”
“Just general conversation.”
“What did he think of her?”
“She's nice.”
It seemed to simmer down after that, until dinner that is. Then the questions started all over again. Though this time he realized something. His sister's were the ones asking the more leading questions. Then the kids would follow from there.
So after everyone had left the table, he stayed to help clean up. Which was when he turned the questions on Julieta. “When did you and Pepa decide to get me to meet the seer?”
Her shoulders dropped and she shook her head. “I should have know you would figure it out hermano. We just want what's best for you.” She reached out for his arm, but he backed away.
“And how is forcing two people into each other’s lives for the 'best’?”
She crossed her arms with a slight frown. “We thought that you would both enjoy each other’s company. You do have a lot in common.”
He wanted to scoff at that. The only thing they had in common was being seers. He was horrible Bruno, the seer of disasters. She was wonderful, so sweet and beautiful. Everyone loves her, for good reason. “Well, she should have a say in it all.”
Her posture became less stiff. “She been asking about you since she found out you were a seer.”
His head shot toward her with wide eyes. “She has.” He said, more breathless than he would like to admit.
“Yes. I think she wanted to meet some one who would understand. You know.”
“Yeah, I guess.” He said with a shrug.
She then pulled him into a tight hug. “So, tell me all about your visit.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so the visits for tea continued. A few times a week Bruno would make his way to your tent after lunch. The conversation would flow and the atmosphere was always warm. Her cat would leisurely make her way between either of their laps. He couldn't remember a more peaceful time in his life.
So as he lay awake, one restless night, he started at the moon. Comparing it’s alluring beauty to you. He then realized he was in love with you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next time he went for a visit, he hesitated. It felt like the first time he met you all over again. His heart was hammering in his ears, his palms were clammy, and he couldn't stop fidgeting. Would she want to be in a romantic relationship or be friends. His heart stopped at the thought of her wanting to not even be friends. If his feeling drove a wedge between them.
But that faded away when he saw she was taking down her tent.
She heard him come up and turned around smiling. “Hey, I was hoping you'd be by soon. If not i’d have to find your house.” Your smile shifted to something more timid, a look that Bruno wasn’t used to.
“Why are you packing?”
“I’ve out lived my timr in this town. I’m moving on.” She reached out and clasped his hands in his. “I was hoping you would come with me.” Her hands squeezed tighter. “If you want to, that is.”
He thought for a long moment, could he abandon his family again. Then he caressed her hands. “I don’t think I can leave my family. I’m sorry.”
She smiled at him with teary eyes. “It’s OK, I understand. I’m heading West, if you ever want to join me.”
He looked at her, with his own moist stare. “I’ll never forget you.” Then he gave her a strong hug. Both of them holding back unsaid emotions, parted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day he spent in total solitude. Never answering his door or leaving his room. He was miserable. He finally snuck out from hiding to get something to eat, his stomach gnawing at his backbone.
What he didn't expect was for his mother to be waiting for him in the kitchen. She motioned at the chair beside her and he walked over. His shoulders slumped further as he sat, upset at getting caught.
They both sat for a moment, until he finally break the silence. “How long have you been waiting?”
“For as long as I needed to hijo.”
“You didn't have to.”
She gave him a tender look. “I know, but I wanted to. Now tell me what has you holing yourself away.”
He knew it would be a matter of time before someone asked him. So he layed his feelings on the table.
She seemed surprised, then her expression morphed into one of joy. “I’m so happy for you hijo." She became confused. “Why did you not go with her?”
He was stunned. “I only came back. I didn't want to abandon my family again.”
She shook her head with a mournful smile. “No mijo, love for another, doesn't mean loosing the ones you already care for.” She laid a hand on his. “Follow what your heart tells you.”
He nodded and gave her hand a squeeze. “I’ll think about it.” Then he got a snack and went back into hiding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In another day, he was giving the Madrigal household a teary goodbye. Everyone was sniffling, but smiling. He then headed out, with a overloaded pack, full of many traveling gifts.
Mid day of his trek, he noticed an odd sight. A tent with the sign ‘Madam (Y/N)’ staked outside. His slow pace disappeared as he raced towards the familiar sight. Calling out as he sped up, he was elated when you poked your head out of the entrance.
You grinned and race over to meet him. Colliding into an embrace, you both grip at each other fiercely. Drawing back, you grabbed his cheeks and pull him in for a kiss. Backing away, your not sure who's more shocked by your actions.
“I’m sorry. I was so excited to see you. I should have asked before.” You ramble, but he stopped you with another kiss.
“It’s fine.” He said with a smile. “How are you only this far?”
“I thought you might need a few days to decide.” She said with a knowing look.
With a shake of his head he kissed her again.

It’s hard to hide the fact that inside you’re freaking out. What if Evaline was telling the truth? She lied about other things, why wouldn’t she throw in a curveball and tell the truth. She’d do anything to get what she came for right?
“When will we know?” Alma asks, looking to you by the doorway as she rubs her son’s shoulders, trying to comfort him while he eats another of Julieta’s arepas. The bite wound is gone from his skin, no signs of scarring like what covers your arm, just some blood soaking into his shirt and some holes in the cloth.
You brought him back to casita, a bleeding dizzy mess, barely able to stand and everyone was already waiting for you. Julieta was already making food to heal both you and Bruno. Dolores had heard everything, your conversation with Bruno, the confrontation, the fight, right down to your limp as you supported Bruno’s weight all the way home.
His sisters and mother were horrified at the sight of the blood coating his clothes, still seeping from the wound. A storm cloud formed above Pepa’s head instantly, soaking her clothes and showing everyone how she feels. Julieta practically shoved an arepa in each of your mouths the moment you walked through the door, watching eagerly for the healing to work. Felix had ushered Antonio to his room so he couldn’t see the brutal sight and though their parents tried, they couldn’t get Mirabel or Camilo to go to their rooms.
“Umm, a month.” you sigh sliding your hand through your hair as you try to breath even, tears prickling your eyes. “He um… He won’t be able to shift until his first full moon. Nothing will change about him till then.” You tell them. The guilt inside you feels like it’s burning you up, destroying you on the inside. This is all your fault. His whole family is here, worrying for him and you feel like the cause of their distress. “I’m so fucking sorry. This is all my fault.” You sob.
“No, mi vida.” Bruno says, rising from his seat and pulling away from his mother to wrap you in his arms, finally strong enough to move again. “This isn’t your fault. Please don’t blame yourself.” He whispers as he kisses your temple, his chin scruff scratching your cheek. As much as you love him and want to believe him, you can’t stop. Your mind keeps trying to come up with ways you could have stopped Matt from biting Bruno and each time it deepens the belief that you failed him.
“What are you gonna do if she was telling the truth?” Camilo asks from his spot, sitting on the window frame.
“we’ll have to take precautions.” You sigh “maybe shifting in the tower, blockade the door… maybe even in the vision cave itself…”
“wh-what about y-you?” Bruno asks, trying to push through the anxiety rising in him. you can tell each time he thinks about the worst-case scenario ‘cause his heart rate picks up, his blood pressure rising each time.
“I will be with you” you cup his cheek, pressing your forehead to his “every step of the way.”
“at least I’ll be in good hands then... or paws” he smiles, the little wrinkles at the corners of his eyes becoming more prominent at his amusement.
“funny” you huff, giving him a small smile despite the negative thoughts in your mind.
“Tio Bruno” Mirabel says, trying to get her uncle’s attention. “Why don’t you use your ability? Look into the future and see what’s gonna happen?”
“I uh di-didn’t think of it, years of not using it I suppose. I’ll get right on that.” He tells her, fiddling with your fingers in his hand as he looks to the ground by his feet. You notice his heartbeat change a tiny bit; the lie obvious only to you. “I um... I wanna rest for a bit…” he says, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. “I’ll do it later and tell you what I see at dinner.” Another lie. “we’ll be down later, just need to talk about a few things.”
You snatch the plate of arepas and wave goodbye to your friends as Bruno leads you out of the room, practically dragging you up the steps and onto the platform. He takes the plate from your hand the moment you reach his bedroom, placing it of the little table beside the door.
His hands are on your before you even have the chance to pout about wanting to eat the arepas. He pulls you tight to his body, his lips on yours, kissing you hungrily. One of his hands slides down, squeezing your butt in a firm grip, and the other pressing the middle of your back, holding you to him.
You want to pull back and make sure he’s okay, this action unusual for him, but you also never want him to stop. His kiss is making to breathless, and his touch is making you wet, squeezing your butt and slowly pulling your skirts up as he tries to get his hand under them.
“Are you okay mi amor?” you ask, smiling but watching him with worry as he finally pulls back for a breath of air.
“Si, I just…” he smiles, staring at you with what you can only call love. His eyes seem to take in each of your features one by one, cementing them into his memories once more. “I need you. There are so many thoughts going through my head right now, I need something to ground me or at least distract me f-for a bit.”
“Oh well if that’s the case. Whatever you need” You grin leaning forward pressing your mouth back to his, the rush from before simmering just below the surface. You grip the edges of his ruana tight, running your tongue along the seam of his lips, begging for entry. He moans into your mouth as he lifts your thighs around his waist, pinning your back to the door. He sucks and nibbles on your tongue and lips, kissing his way along your jaw and down your neck to your collar bone, leaving you a breathless mess as he grinds into you.
He's not normally one to take control, usually a blushing moaning mess, pliable to your every wish. He loves having you in control.
He holds you tight, transferring you to the plush bed with a heavy puff of the duvet. He whispers apologies into your skin for being rough as pushes your skirts up, kissing his way up the inside of your thighs. His desperation sets a fire I your belly and you’re already soaking wet as he hooks his fingers in your underwear, dragging them down.
Threading your fingers through his salt and pepper curls, you gasp as his lips wrap around your clit. He teases you with the tip of his tongue, swirling tiny circles as his scruffy chin hair scratches lightly against your folds. As he teases you, the urge to hold him there and grind on his face rises in you, making you grip his hair tighter much to his delight.
You want him to keep control though, to see where he goes with it. you taught him what you enjoy in great detail, making him blush with each word of praise as he got it right. Clearly, he’s using a couple of those lessons as he spreads your folds with his slender fingers and laps his tongue through the moisture. His moans are muffled in your heat as he presses his tongue into you, his free hand gripping your thigh tight, holding you against his face. He's drinking you in like a man starved and desperate, sucking on the sensitive flesh till you’re moaning gibberish.
You’re an exhausted mess by the time he’s finished with you, taking what he needs after he’s pushed you through your first orgasm. He filled you with his cock, his face buried in your neck, pressing kisses to your skin. You came a second time with him inside you, your pussy gripping  him tight as he spilled inside you, his mouth open and brow furrowed as he moaned into your skin.
You enjoyed every minute; you just hope he’ll tell you what’s wrong when he gets back from the bathroom.
~~~~~
Bruno’s POV
Part of him wanted this, he’d be lying if he said otherwise. He wanted to be like her, to see what she sees, to spend every full moon by her side. he wanted to feel it all and be exactly what she needs. And now he just might, but if what Evaline said is true, it’s gonna come at a massive price. Now he hopes that Julieta’s cooking worked.
With all the shock and stress of it his mind focused on one thing. If what Evaline was saying is true maybe the other part is too. If he is now like [Y/N], he can get her pregnant, make a child and a life with her. It made sense. Months of unprotected sex and not even a scare? The thought of her baring had driven him mad and the moment he had enough blood back in his veins he was hard, making him painfully aware how much that turned him on. He was silently hoping for months that maybe he hadn’t missed his chance.
It was like a hunger overcame him, desperate and greedy, and although she seemed concerned, she wasn’t complaining.
“Are you gonna tell me what’s on your mind now?” she asks when he finally stepped out from the bathroom. She’s laying on her side, her head propped up on her hand and her skirt riding high up her thigh. “And why you lied to your family about looking into the future?”
“I couldn’t help you… seeing that in the vision didn’t help.” He admits as he collapses beside her. The vision showed her angry with them, but it didn’t show him bleeding out beneath her or her fighting for their lives, for his life. All it did was create anxiety and, in the end, didn’t even help. “When you told me not to do a vision for you, you were right.” He’s not ready yet to tell her the other thing on his mind, that part of him wants a child with her.
“obviously” she smiles at him, cupping his cheek, scratching her fingers through his scruff. “That doesn’t mean that in certain circumstances it’s not useful.
“You think I should look?” he asks. He feels exhausted, can practically feel the familiar bags under his eyes, so he’s not even sure he actually has the strength to do a vision.
“it’s entirely up to you, mi amor. I’m not gonna tell you when you should or shouldn’t use your gift” fuck he loves her. There are times where he just can’t wrap his head around it. How’d he become the one blessed with her love and affection. No matter what his decision, she’ll be with him.
“I won’t. I want to live the rest of this month free of the burden the next full moon may bring.”
“Fine by me” she smiles, leaning down and kissing him sweetly.
~~~~~
Dolores’s POV
Dolores heard her friend leave casita again a few hours after the attack by the river and has been keeping an ear on her since. [Y/N] called out saying she was heading to check on her mother, making sure Dolores knew where she was going. She listened as her friend walked all the way to her home by the market.
It’s always made her smile whenever [Y/N] would do that, telling her something even when she’s on the other side of town. whenever she needed comfort or a distraction from the sounds she didn’t want to hear, she focused on her friend or Mariano. Hearing them out there, living their lives, eases her mind and brings her peace.
‘I’m leaving you and we’re leaving Encanto’ Dolores hears Evaline say, a ruffling sound of clothes being hastily shoved into a suitcase accompanying her voice.
‘wha? Yo-you’re leaving me?’ [Y/N]’s father Liam slurs, already drunk even though it’s barely passed two pm. ‘why?! Evaline, you will fucking explain yourself now!’ he shouts as he grabs a hold of his wife’s arms, making Dolores jump.
‘Something happened…’ she sobs ‘we can’t be together… I can’t it’s too much!’ she cries.
‘Tell me woman!’
‘Your… Your daughter bit us… me and Matty…’ she lies, crying crocodile tears. Dolores’ heart pounds at the thought of what this woman saying, spinning a tale to manipulate. What will she gain from telling such falsehoods? ‘I tried to hide it from you… bu-but when I asked her why… she said she wants to ruin your life for what you did’ The man is silent, but Dolores can hear his feet stumble back in shock. ‘She hates you so much and she wouldn’t even tell me why… what are you doing?’
‘What I should have when she was a child.’ The man practically growls, slamming a door and stomping along the wooden floor. ‘Killing the bitch’
Dolores is on her feet in a flash, racing from her room and into Isabela’s, not even knocking before barging in.
“Isa! You need to get into town now!”
“What? why?” her cousin asks, turning away from her statue made of carnivorous plants.
“[Y/N’s dad is going to kill her.”
~~~~~
[Y/N]’s POV
You hum as you fold the laundry and place it all in the basket, pulling each piece one by one from the line to take in. Your mother had to pop to the market before they pack up, having forgotten something when she went earlier. You’re always happy to help her when she needs it.
Sudden pain erupts in your skull as you’re knocked to the ground. Your vision is blurry, and you can’t think straight as you try to focus on the person standing over you, what kinda looks like a thick branch in their hand.
“You really hated me this much?” your father angry voice meets your ear as you try to shake away the disorientation. “I never thought you the type to be cruel.” He growls.
“I d… I don’t know what you’re ta-talking about.” You try to say, slurring and stuttering, unable to form coherent thoughts.
“You think you can lie to me now you little bitch?” he shouts, grabbing the front of your dress and slapping you across the face. “I knew you were a monster the moment you turned the first time.” He sneers.
“I didn’t do anything!” you cry, trying to push him away to no avail. The impact to your head was too strong.
“You turned Evaline and Matt to hurt me!”
“I didn’t” you try to shake your head only to make your mind spin more. “She was werewolf before I was even b-born. He was born a werewolf…”
“Stop lying!” he screams, dropping you with a thud as he looks around the small yard. His eyes focus on an object by the wall and his wrathful frown turns into a sadistic grin as he steps over to it. he lifts it with emphasise, staring up at the three prongs on the end with bloodlust in his eyes.
“No. please” you beg, trying to pull yourself away from him. once again, you’re seeing the monster you thought you’d escaped, the same scent of alcohol wafting around him. “I didn’t”
“This town, hell this world would be better off without a monster like you in it” he stalks toward you, the pitchfork tight in his anger filled grip. “I’m doing everyone a favour” he snarls, pointing the prongs down at you and holding it high above his head. “I should have done this years ago”
You see the flash in his eyes as he’s about to force the weapon down into you. The look of pure hatred. You close your eyes and wait for the pain, but it never comes.
Your eyes blink open to see shock on his face, his grip around the pitchfork loosening. Blood seeps into his shirt around a sharp vine speared through his chest, getting longer and longer as it’s forced through his body.
You glance to the back door of your home to see Isabela, her eyes wide with horror and her hand up as she controls the vine killing your father. As soon as she releases it, sending it back into the earth, the man collapses to the ground beside you. The monster that has haunted your dreams for years is finally dead.
“Isa” you whisper as she races to your side, lifting you into her lap and holding you close as she cries into your hair.
“it’s okay. I’ve got you, you’re safe.” she mumbles in your hair over and over. “Mi mama is coming, everyone is coming”
A/N: for the person who thought her dad would be pissed about being manipulated. Didn’t remember all of Bruno’s visions, eh? Two more chapters! We’re almost done! Remember! Like and reblog to share the love!!!
Pair: Hoseok x fem! Reader (Disney "'Encanto" AU)
Tumblr media
Y/n's pov:
"and so the Candle saved our lives, helping us start a new beginning full of prosperity. End."
It was my 18th birthday, my parents gifted me a book, even if they knew that I wans't into reading that much. I had a lot of books which I started reading but never finished into the bookshelf near my bed, but, that book, I was able to finish it in a day! It was telling the story of Encanto, a village in South America, where there was...magic.
It was a legend, at least, this what my parents said, but...I knew that it was real, and my biggest dream was to visit that place. So, with the excuse of going in South America on vacation, as a gift for my graduation, I went to Colombia. My parents insisted about accompany me there, but I decided to take with me some friends. Once I arrived there, I started my journey across the country. My beloved book had also a map drawn on the first pages of it, a map that led to Encanto! That looked perfect, wasn'it?
It was a sunny day, it was the typical weather there, a very hot weather. I followed carefully the path on the map, ending in finding myself in front of a small village, it looked familiar... It was it. It was Encanto! I knew it was real and that it wasn't just a legend! My eyes lighted up at the sight of those colorful houses, the kids who were happily playing across the roads , the peasants who weren't able to stop smiling! Wow, only watching that scenery, made me full of positivity and good feelings. It was worth it, all that path.
'Finally, here I am...Encanto!"
I exclaimed, pulling the hood of my mantle down, which was protecting me from the scorching heat and beating sun, and starting walking among the roads of that shining place. Even if i was a foreign, as my eyes met with the other people of the place, they smiled at me. There was music coming from every angle of the village, and all those things made me feel so comfortable. The more I approached the main square, more that music was laud, I started to hear also a voice, so tuned. I searched that person who was singing so joyfully and I spotted a girl:
She had short, very curly, dark hair, she wore glasses, her skin was very tanned like caramel, that skin color highlighted her dress who was white and purple with many other colorful decorations. I stayed there, listening to her, she was singing a song about her family...the Madrigals, so they were real as well, I said to myself. I hoped that also their magic was real with them. I sat on the edge of the fountain that was placed right into the center of the square and I kept listening to her, even if I already knew everything about her family, about the miracle candle and all the rest, even if my book didn't talk about every member of the family in detail, the only person who was mentioned the most was Abuela Alma. Once the song ended, the girl turned to face me, that surprised me, apparently she already noticed me. She started to walk towards me keeping her joyful vibe.
'Hello there! I never saw you here! You arrived now, right? I'm Mirabel, Mirabel Madrigal! What's your name? Where are you from?!'
The girl from the colorful dress, Mirabel, started to, literally, overwhelm me with questions. This made me chuckle. I told her that I was coming from a far country, that I discovered Encanto through a book, showing it to her, and obviously I revealed her my dream to find out if that place was real and not just result of someone's mind, and if that place was magical or not. Mirabel smiled at me, then took me to the Madrigals' 'casita' and she introduced to me all her family, there were a lot of members...but, most important thing, she asked Abuela Alma in person, the family leader and Mirabel's grandma, to explain me how the candle worked, then she told me something more about Encanto and the family, things that wasn't mentioned in the book, especially one episode: when Encanto got destroyed and 'Tio Bruno''s story...I still couldn't believe it. It was happening. Was it real? Or was it just a dream? I only know that i loved that place more minute by minute. I pinched myself and, since the pain i felt, it was all very true. I couldn't stop smiling, my dream was becoming reality. Only God knows how much I wanted to start living there, but I knew I must go home, and keep studying and at Encanto there wasn't any relatives or intimate friends of mine. I chose to stay there for some days and Mirabel asked me to stay with her and her family since their 'casita' was big enough for a guest. After contemplating again that beautiful house, I saw Mirabel running around, it looked like she was looking for someone.
'Yo Dolores! Have you seen Hobi?'
She asked to her cousin.
'Probably he's around the village helping someone, as usual'
As it seemed, Mirabel was looking for a guy, since she couldn't be satisfied if she wouldn't be able to introduce me EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of her family. It was right her who pulled me out of my thoughts and grabbed me by my arm, taking me again through the square, in order to making me meet this last member of the Madrigal, another cousin of hers, Hoseok, his name didn't look Spanish, anyway, so I wondered why choosing a foreign name for a latino guy.
'THERE HE IS!'
We stopped near the fountain, I looked around, but I didn't spot boys who looked like Mirabel. Right her, then, pointed towards a guy, he was helping a child who was just been bullied for his Asian traits, even this Hoseok seemed to have similar traits...that's why I didn't focus on him, at first, but then I let myself admiring those traits: Dark, long and wavy hair, almond-shaped eyes, pointy nose, sharped jawline, dimples and a sunlike shiny smile. All these features were highlighted by his honeylike skin.
Those traits enchanted me and made me curious at the same time. I looked with a confused face at Mirabel. She started to talk, like she read my mind.
'Wait! I know what you're thinking about...but first, you have to know that his power made him able to feel people's real emotions and to help them to solve their concerns through music...even if someone is good at hiding their feelings, is it sadness, anger, love or joy...he will know! And yes, I know that you noticed that he look a bit different from the other family members but, it's normal and now I'll explain you why: you should know that my great-great-grandfather married a woman of Asian descent, who obviously became my dear great-great-grandmother. No one, until now, had ever taken traits from her, Hoseok had, however... also for this reason, Tia Pepa gave him this name of Asian origins, if I'm not mistaken.. it means... "the name that will be spread throughout the country", and, now that I think about it, he's actually very well known throughout Colombia with the nickname "Doctor of Feelings"...magical...Don't you think so??'
Everything was clearer, and even more magical, in my humble opinion. Mirabel and I watched the scene without intervening, from afar, the girl told me that during these moments, neither Hoseok nor the person he helps should be distracted. The child burst into tears in the boy's arms to vent and release his sadness.
'it's okay, it's okay to cry, it's okay to be sad, but you also must be strong and keep positivity alive and remember that we are equipped with a weapon that can make us win any war, hope. Everything will work out. You are not alone. I'm here, here with you.'
These were the words with which Hoseok managed to make the child smile, while he stroked the latter's curly hair. Immediately afterwards, the boy took out a small box from his pocket, it was emerald green colored with golden decorations, he opened it and his eyes began to turn green... green like hope itself, then from the little box, which in the end was practically a music box, a song came out.
That sound was melancholy, but as the child regained confidence in himself, it changed: The melody, in fact, went from exuding sadness to exuding something more... relaxing, something that made you smile, without realizing it. The boy, smiling, hugged Hoseok once again. I couldn't help but gasp. This was one of the most beautiful forms of magic, in my opinion.
'he could not receive power more suited to him. From an early age he had great empathy, there isn't a person who doesn't get along with him, he's just..' ,
'Perfect..'
I covered my mouth...that word seemed to have come out without permission. I was quite embarrassed, but in the end, it was the truth... Mirabel nudged me and gave me a little look. She took my arm, dragging me towards that "perfect" boy. In the meantime, Hoseok had already encouraged the child to go and play with other children, while, at a certain point, he saw Mirabel and me coming towards him:
'Mirabel!! Good morning! Oh.. Who is this girl that is with you? Your friend?'
Apparently asking lots of questions was a family trait haha. I felt a little anxious, he was looking at me, with that beautiful smile attached to his face, it was reassuring in a certain sense, but at the same time I couldn't get even a single verse out of my mouth... but I couldn't stay there, still, and make a fool of myself, so I took a breath and started talking:
'Hey!!! I'm y/n. I recently arrived at Encanto. I had read about this magnificent place in a book my parents gave me some time ago and I really wanted to know if it really existed, so I left with some of my friends. I arrived here, I heard Mirabel singing and then she came to me, we talked, we became friends and she introduced me to the whole Madrigal family...but...you were missing so Mirabel brought me here and... Here we are ha ha ha'
I literally showed up in one go...in fact, after that, I was out of breath. Hoseok started laughing, he knew his cousin very well so he didn't have a hard time believing that situation.
'Mirabel you never change eh'
'no~I'm perfect like this eheh'
Mirabel exclaimed smiling. At a certain point, she heard a voice, quite loud, calling out her name.
'Mirabel! Abuela is looking for you!!'
The voice was Isabel, one of the brunette's sisters.
'Ooh you have to excuse me... who knows what Abuela wants, I better run to her hahaha Don't worry my friend, I'll leave you in good hands'
After saying this sentence, Mirabel gave me a clear wink, and I was left alone with Hoseok.. We looked at each other, a little confused, for a few seconds, then Hoseok, luckily, decided to break the ice.
'so.. Since you arrived recently.. Do you want to come with me? I'll take you to visit the place'
The boy exclaimed. I nodded and followed him.
Hoseok showed me every little corner of the place, of course, singing a song. This was also a peculiar trait of the family, and obviously he had a beautiful voice, when we spoke to each other before, I noticed that his voice was quite low and a little hoarse, but when he sang... it seemed to transform, his voice became so sweet and harmonious, it was a pleasure to listen to it. That voice hypnotized me to the point that I found myself dancing a tango with him, letting myself be carried away by the music...in fact, as soon as I acquired a minimum of lucidity, I looked around and saw that we were alone, so I wondered where it came from.... It came from his pocket, it could only be his music box.. that's why I felt almost under a spell, that song contained... passion and... Love. I liked dancing with him, I almost felt as if a certain harmony had arisen between the two of us, even though we had only known each other for more or less... an hour? The fact is that I didn't feel like following my reason that day, I wanted to follow my heart for once.
It all ended with a casquè.
I've always liked dancing, if I have to be honest, but couple style dances have never been for me... that time, however, it was different. Could it have been the music box? Perhaps? Yes? No? I did not care. My eyes were locked with Hoseok's, but when the music ended, my lucidity took over and so did surprise and embarrassment. We were actually very close, despite having only just met, so much so that our two heavy breaths mixed together. After a few seconds, strangely, instead of letting our shyness resurface, we burst out laughing.
We returned to the Casita and had a pleasant chat along the way.
The other members of the family were already waiting for us at home and between more laughter, more chatter and continuous glances from Mirabel and Isabel who had already understood that there was something special between me and their cousin, time passed quickly, and the evening was already coming.
"Y/n, do you want to come with me? I want to show you something magical and... don't get me wrong okay? haha"
Hoseok winked at me after saying that. How could I not misunderstand him? But, whatever his intentions, my heart told me to follow him because, despite knowing him only a little, I already had a certain trust in him. So, I nodded and followed him. Finally, he led me in front of one of the doors upstairs, on that door there was a picture of a box, and Hoseok coming out of it like those toys with clown inside, and around him, from that box, musical notes came out. We entered the room and I can't hide that I was literally left speechless:
It was an immense room, with neon lights of a thousand colors attached to the walls, which contrasted that rainbow with an opaque black and those same walls were adorned with Pop-art style paintings. There were some peculiar figurines, with X's at the place of their eyes but they were kinda cute.
Hoseok took me to a small platform that was in the center of the room, it seemed to be some sort of elevator and, after snapping his fingers, the platform rose upwards arriving in another room, which was almost hidden, in the ceiling of the initial room: It was literally a studio! There was a huge computer, with three monitors, a colored keyboard, a black leather sofa, a giant puff, and many other soft toys, statuettes, abstract paintings. Through it all my mouth was still wide open in amazement. I tried to say something but, for the umpteenth time, Hoseok's magic ensured that not even a miserable sound came out of my mouth. It was right Hoseok who took care of closing my jaw, which was starting to hurt since it was being opened for a while, and then smiling at me, now that I think about it, when he smiled his mouth took the shape of a heart... what a cute thing, right?
'what do you think?'
He asked me and I could only say one word:
'Magical...'
and I added
'I love magic.'
I could hear Hoseok's chuckle.
'You see, this is my studio, when I have the right inspiration, I come here and produce new melodies for my music box, using my own emotions. Sometimes it happened to me, however, that some melodies created themselves. If I'm sad, I come here, press some random key on the keyboard, and a melody comes out! Cool, right? I often come to this place when I feel upset, or when I don't want to be seen like that by the rest of the family. There are also days when I feel like being alone, not that I don't love my family but... that's how I am, in the end although they call me a "doctor of feelings", who will take care of treating me? Now everyone thinks that I'm the boy who is never sad or angry, everyone thinks that I spend my days carefree, that I'm all rainbows and little flowers. But I hope that one day they will understand that it's not really like that..'
Hoseok was holding his music box, which at that moment was playing music that aroused a bit of sadness.
I took his hand. He immediately jumped.
'Oh God, I'm sorry if I vented like this... especially since you don't know me well, I can't have made a good impression, can I? I'll be honest... it's just that I felt I could confide in you, you inspire me with a certain trust and you're not even local so... I don't know... I let my heart give way to logic, for once, and I hope I didn't make the wrong choice...'
I was sorry to see him in that state, and above all I wanted to make him understand that he doesn't have to apologize, I tried to imagine what it could be like, living wearing a mask day after day, living without the freedom to be who you really are... perhaps this meant the symbol on the door of Hoseok's room, he was closed in that box, and he just wanted to find a way to get out, and take all his feelings and his music with him... that studio was his safety zone, but in a certain sense , I also wanted to convey that security to him, because Hoseok gave so much for the people he loved, for the people of his country and also of the rest of Colombia and I know that if he had had the strength, he would have given his all for every single person on this planet.. and he didn't deserve to live like this, he didn't deserve it at all.
I tried to smile at him to reassure him and squeezed his hand a little tighter.
'You shouldn't hide the real you. People will love you even when you are less joyful and more serious. Even if you have powers thanks to the miracle, you are still human. And then... you do so much for your people, now you should think about feeling good about yourself, and about showing yourself who you are to the world, like you did with me. Even though we have known each other for just under a day, I know that you are a sweet, sensitive, altruistic person and that you have such surprising empathy, that it leaves me speechless more than this place and its magic did. So.. If one day you burst into tears or started screaming in frustration, I'm sure no one would leave you alone. You said it yourself to that child: it's okay to be sad, it's okay to feel bad, the important thing is knowing how to continue to be positive and believe in hope, right?'
Hoseok smiled at me, apparently, I succeeded in my aim, my words cheered him up like nothing had ever done before. I understood it from the music of the music box, which changed, it seemed like a melody that recalled love, but also peace, tranquility, I can't even describe well what feeling that song aroused, but I know that it showed the strength of feeling that has always bonded us, even before we met.
It was the first melody we created together. The first of many others.
The days passed, and our relationship improved day by day. Hoseok tried to show his mood more without putting on fake smiles. One day, while I was helping Julieta with some chores, I saw Hoseok on the ledge of the stairs and caught him in the act while he was watching me, but I didn't point it out to him that he had been discovered. At a certain point Bruno approached him... and Hoseok told me the rest:
'I saw it you know?'
Bruno said.
Hoseok jumped, not noticing his uncle next to him, as he was too immersed in observing me haha
'Tio Bruno!! You scared me!!'
The boy exclaimed laughing.
'anyway... What are you referring to?
Hoseok asked curiously. His uncle didn't say a word, he smiled and gave him a frame with one of his visions in it, and then left. The frame depicted Hoseok and me, kissing, with the Miracle behind us, burning with a high, bright flame. Hoseok was very struck by that image and smiled like he had never smiled before. However, he decided not to tell me anything, worried that I still didn't reciprocate his feelings or that, in some way, he might have caused some trouble.
Another week passed, there was a celebration in the village and Abuela, for this very reason, brought the miracle to the square. Everyone was dancing and having fun. Hoseok and I were also in the crowd dancing, as usual. When the song ended we looked at each other, smiling, but this time looking at each other with different eyes... it was no mystery that I was already in love with Hoseok, but I was good at hiding it in the presence of others, but Mirabel had already understood everything. I didn't come out for the same reason Hoseok didn't come out before then. That day the atmosphere was particularly romantic and my lover was more beautiful than usual... perhaps it was the light of the Miracle, which was right behind us, which framed his face perfectly. And those pink, heart-shaped lips attracted me more than usual. Hoseok then looked around and noticed that the scenario was exactly that of Bruno's vision. He flashed another one of his wonderful smiles, looking up at my eyes and then at my lips. Apparently, we agreed on the ending of that moment.
'what's up?'
I asked him laughing. Hoseok began to sing a song, to the tune that his music box was singing, a real love song.
'I want to tell you that.. te amo'
This was the phrase with which that perfect boy of mine ended the song.
'yo Tambien te amo'
I stated, and, without thinking further, I decided to kiss him. It sounds a bit cliché... but I felt in heaven, even just for a few seconds. It almost seemed like I had been waiting for this moment forever. After a few seconds we broke the kiss and continued to look at each other, smiling. But the harmony that had been created was interrupted by the applause of the whole town who witnessed the scene. in embarrassment, I buried my head in Hoseok's shoulder, laughing. He held me and rested his head on mine looking at the people who were clapping. He twas smiling from ear to ear and his face was all red, he was adorable, my Hoseok.
'WE NEED TO CELEBRATE EVEN MORE NOW!!'
Mirabel shouted, happier than ever.
And we all danced until the sun rose. With the music of Hoseok's music box that released happiness with every note and with the light of the Miracle, which shone brighter than ever.
PART ONE, TWO, THREE
Camilo x Fem!Reader (aged up for plot purposes)
Angst with fluff ending
Warnings: none
Summary: in which Camilo gets to see the best action drama in real life (also tops his Tio Bruno’s telenovelas)
Inspired by ‘Lxxk 2 U’ by Choi Yena
English is not my first language. Please excuse grammatical or spelling errors
Tumblr media
“THAT WAS THE COOLEST REJECTION I’VE EVER SEEN” Mirabel screamed in excitement, the rest of the village still in shock after it had happened.
Cheers from the Madrigal side were heard and on the other side of the fountain, showed Juan’s family glaring at him with disappointment. Oh, he's never gonna live this down.
He just got publicly rejected in front of the entire Encanto. He broke free from Isabela’s vines as he slumped his shoulders and heavily stomped his footsteps on the way home while his family frantically approached y/n’s family apologizing for his behavior.
“THAT WAS THE BEST REJECTION THOUGH! It definitely topped Isabela’s proposal dinner disaster!” Camilo exclaimed as his hands were in the air, happy that he saw y/n’s confidence and talent finally being recognized by the entire town.
“Shut up Camilo! But hey- at least I was not the one grinning like an idiot the entire time” She nudged him as he glared at her.
“I was not!”
“You were! ‘Oh my crush is not getting married yay I can finally have her in my arms and kiss her all over-OFPH” Isabela’s teasing was interrupted by Luisa lifting her up.
“Isa stop before you’re gonna drain the blood out of our primo” They giggled as they turned to Camilo who was as red as Dolores’ skirt.
“CAMILO! You were surprised right?? We planned it all on our own!” Mirabel yelled as she put an arm around his shoulder while he sulked. “Yes! Why did you not tell me?”
“Y/n didn’t want us to. Oh and speaking of her, she's waiting for you at her house”. Not even a second later, Camilo rushed out from her family’s grip as he ran towards y/n’s house.
“Oh it was so funny messing with him” The grandkids giggled before returning to Casita.
Camilo didn’t know how to get in. In front of the door were the L/n’s and the Rosario’s having a long conversation about what happened. From far away, he can tell that all of them were mad at Juan who is nowhere to be found. He didn’t want to interrupt them so he found another way to get to her room.
The stairs Isabela made lead to her balcony.
“Are you just gonna stand there or?” He snapped out of trance after hearing the melodious voice he adored. He looked up at the balcony and saw her, still in the colorful wedding dress. His blush was definitely obvious and y/n giggled at this sight.
“Am I worthy enough to climb the princess’ walkway and go closer to the strings of her heart?” He said, mocking the poetic Mariano that both of them love to tease.
“Of course, my dearest Prince. I would totally open up any amenities of my Kingdom if it meant to be with you” Both giggled and Camilo slowly walked up the stairs, embracing her into a warm hug as they met.
“Oh you owe me a lot of explanation right now, princess.” She led him to her room, messy from the preparations and makeup from earlier.
“I would say sorry for the mess but I forgot about your room-OMPH” A pillow interrupted y/n’s comment as Camilo disagreed. He swiped out all the makeup items in the bed, throwing them to the floor as he dove into her bed leaving her in a screaming mess as she attempted to pick up the cosmetics.
“I’m still piecing everything together, HOW COME YOU NEVER TOLD ME HE WAS CHEATING?!” He yelled, forgetting the fact that his family was literally downstairs.
“Chill will you? Okay now listen. Dolores told me he was cheating 2 days before the proposal and boy as much as I wanted to cry to you, Isabela thought of me sabotaging the proposal in a bad-ass way so we- i mean the Madrigal grandkids planned all of this without you because if I did tell you, you would probably ruin the surprise by like- beating him up or something”
“Oh- Wait. So they knew the entire time!? No wonder they were so happy cause I swear there was one point where they all hated Juan” Camilo buried his face in her pillow, taking in her vanilla scent (and to hide his blush, he still cannot remove it at the sight of her beauty and in a wedding dress too).
“They did, I’m happy they did it this way I felt like a rockstar” She said as she lay down on the bed beside him, lacing her fingers through his curls which made him melt even more.
“Yeah. And your vocals too literally everything was so perfect. And I was there wondering why the proposal felt like a wedding from how grande the preparation is”
“Well, that was Isabela and Mirabel’s idea. You at most should know how you guys roll at organizing parties. And for my vocals, I learned from the best” She giggled, remembering the time he was teaching her how to sing. Both of them now have similar singing styles, rough and rock n roll-style. He was most proud knowing that their karaoke sessions really paid off.
Her hands left his hair as she patted his back. “Boy if you don't lift up your face I do not want to look like i'm talking to no one”
With a defeated sigh, he lifted up his head and looked at her. And again, he was lost in her gaze as they stared at each other. She broke the tension by cupping his face.
“YOU’RE BLUSHING AWWWW” She cooed, kissing his nose and then booping it as he yelled “Stoooop I hate it”
She giggled. “It’s okay, I’m blushing as hell too thankfully my foundation hid it well”. She adjusted her position and let Camilo’s head rest on her chest as they both cuddled around the cluttered mess of a bedroom.
“You know, you’re really beautiful. If I saw that asshole in the streets, it's game over for him. How dare he toy with a girl as precious as you?” He gritted his teeth, clenching her skirt.
“Don’t crumple my dress, It’s new!” She grabbed his hand and intertwined it with hers, knowing that this would relax him. “And it’s fine, I fell out of love anyways. He was a gentleman but I slowly figured that he only did that to gain my trust. After that I only pretended to keep the relationship.” She wrapped her arms around him as she nuzzled her face onto his hair.
“Mhm. I can definitely treat you better” Camilo replied, still blushing.
“Prove it to me then, hermoso”. She grabbed his shoulders and made him face her.
“Wait what?”
“Oh come on, You live with 4 girl cousins and a sister, your puppy love is more obvious than you getting your seconds ” She booped his nose.
With a defeated sigh, he admitted with a “There’s no way of getting out of this huh?”. And she nodded. He doesn’t feel embarrassed at all anymore. He can always show his fragile masculinity to her and she never judged him for it. Seeing that she was the only one out of the family who saw his vulnerable side, he trusted her with all his life.
“Now that I’m available, are you gonna start making moves soon or-” She was interrupted yet again, but this time with his lips.
It was slow and careful, but full of love. Both of them warmed up to each other's embrace as their lips moved in harmony with each other. Eyes closed, feeling the moment, and thinking that nothing else mattered at the moment.
After they pulled away, Camilo planted a kiss in her nose.
His eyes were still full of love, something that y/n failed to see in her now-ex. She regretted missing these signs, figuring that this wouldn’t have happened if she just stayed with him instead. But she doubted thinking that it might ruin their friendship if it turned out he didn't like her back, but all these thoughts, she shook them away and focused on the current moment.
She was still in her wedding dress, her best friend, now a suitor sitting with her in her bed. Nothing else is better than this moment and both of them wished that it would last forever.
“I’ll prove to you, y/n. I’ll give you all the love that he wasted. I’ll lead you to the happily ever after that you wanted. I’ll give you the life that you always dream of. I will never abandon you, ever. I will show you the love you deserve. From now until forever.”
Y/n was in awe. Hearing this, her tears fell in joy. She loved him dearly, and hearing him say these words to her in reality and not her dreams made her feel like a beloved gem in which she was to him.
“Hey, shh don’t cry you’ll smear your makeup” Camilo panicked as he grabbed a tissue and dabbed it on her eye, careful not to ruin Isabela’s hard work.
“How could I not after hearing those words from you Milo???!! God, you are a dream” She said, voice breaking. He giggled, peppering kisses all over her face to cheer her up.
“Sorry, mi vida. But you really deserved to hear those”. She melted as she heard him call her though a pet name. She remembered that as kids, he only promised to call terms of endearment to his only true love. Y/n felt happy knowing that it was her.
Camilo then took her hand and brought her back to a cuddling position. Now her head was in his chest, her legs were across his as they both leaned to her headboard. His right arm was wrapped around her back as his left was intertwined with hers, playing with her fingers.
“Did I forget to mention?” He broke the silence.
“Mention what?” She looked up at him in curiosity.
“You look way better in a yellow wedding dress, mi amor.”
Oops...
Succession to this, this, and this.
The family talks about mishaps while using their gifts. Inspired by a post I saw of the triplets having much worse scars but idk where it is so if anyone can find it and link it that'd be greatly appreciated!
Madrigal Family x gn!reader(familial)
Warning! This chapter contains mention of scars and nasty accidents! If that's not you're thing keep scrolling.
---
You were working in your room. A part of your project was bothering you, so you brought out some of the tech in your room to test. Leaving it run while you made a list of variables to test.
CRACK!!!
Searing pain shot down your spine, leg and arm on your (non-dominant) side. You yelled because that is a reasonable reaction to whatever the hell happened.
You checked the damage, spiraling burn marks ran down your arm. You pulled your hand away from the desk, revealing a hand-shaped burn mark and further marks running down the desk's leg.
Electrical discharge.
The fact you could still feel and move your arm and leg meant there wasn't any nerve damage, at least. But you figured you should at least go get some food from Tia Julieta, as the parts in question still felt tingly.
---
You find your Tia in the kitchen. She just started preparing lunch. "Hey, Y/n! Getting hungry?" she pondered.
"Getting hurt." You replied, holding out your arm.
Julieta wipes her hands on her apron, holding your arm gingerly.
"Ay, Y/n... Did you forget to turn something off?"
"You could say that."
She walks away, coming back with an arepa, pressing it into your hand. "Here. Eat up, Mijo."
You took a bite, and while the tingling faded, the scar remained.
"Um, Tia...?"
Julieta, however, wasn't concerned. "You really are part of the family, huh."
Your confused silence prompted her to explain.
"Surprising as it may be, every Madrigal, gift or no, has had a mishap within a year of their gift ceremony, leaving something that doesn't quite heal right." She displays her left hand to you, and you notice the tip of her index finger is... Well, squarer than the rest. "That happened literally the next day. Abuela was teaching me how to cook, funnily enough." she giggled like it wasn't that bad, but you just stared in a weird mix of awe and disbelief.
"You guys talkin' about gift scars?" You hear Bruno, and spin around to see him poking his head in through the doorway.
"Gift scars?" You're only further confused.
"Yeah, everyone in the family has one."
You hear Julieta sigh as she steps into view, "Bruno has this theory that the magic is "getting used" to you and gives you a scar as a reminder of how dangerous your power can be if you're not careful. But it doesn't explain how Mira, Felix, Augustin and Abuela got theirs despite not having gifts." She emphasized each name with a flick to Bruno's shoulder.
"That doesn't mean it's not a big adjustment! A new person is joining the family, lots of uncertainty."
You glance between your Julieta and Bruno, and decide to leave them to arguing about the semantics of the arcane. You had things to do, anyway.
---
An hour later finds you by the riverside, helping Isa set up a raft to grow aquatic plants on. You'd swapped your pants for shorts and had rolled up your sleeves, so of course she was going to notice.
"So you got yours too, hm?" She asked, planting a bundle of basil in one of the raft's baskets.
"That was oddly nonchalant, the way you asked."
"Doesn't answer my question, Y/n."
You sigh. "Yeah. Left something on while workshopping."
...
"Do you have a gift scar, Isa?"
"Ugh. Don't tell me you actually believe Tio's theory." she groaned.
"I don't!" You reply quickly, "I just don't have anything else to call it."
Isa hums, "Well, I do, to answer you question." She steps her foot onto the raft, showing her ankle to be slightly swollen, "Turns out, I'm allergic to daffodils. The other one's like this too."
You wince. "That's... Good to know though! Just because you can grow it doesn't mean you should in case of, like, an allergy or something." You tried to be positive, you really did.
---
After lunch, you and Dolores were reading together in her room. She had a book you would call a classic, and you had a book from your time that the miracle was able to conjure up for you.
...
You notice the silence is a tad heavier.
You hear Dolores squeak, and she flips to the next page.
"Yeah, I got a scar from my gift." You say.
She squeaks again, "I didn't want to bring it up, you sounded so... Conflicted about the whole thing."
"Well..." You mark your page and close the book, "If it's just another part of proof I'm a Madrigal, why question it at this point, si?"
"Yeah..."
...
...
Dolores pipe up again, "Y'know, it's hard to get a scar with a gift like mine. But I have one."
You glance in her direction, "Really?"
She nods, pulling up her skirt to show a darker-colored patch on her knee. "I got distracted by a cart giving out and tripped. My hands got roughed up too, but they healed completely."
You hummed in thought.
---
Dinnertime rolls around and you're at the table, wondering about the rest of your family's scars. But at the table feels too impersonal, so your musings are kept to yourself.
Antonio spends a lot of time with animals, that jaguar has to have gotten too excited at one point.
Camilo can shapeshift, so if he's got a scar he's probably hidden it that way.
You can clearly see the mark of a stray bolt on your mom's shoulder.
Your dad probably has something similar, just in a place you can't easily see.
You never saw Bruno's scar, but it more than likely came about due to how much glass he handles, accidentally cutting himself on a vision.
Luisa... Her gift is super strength, right? A gift like that's bound to make one careless.
How the non-magical family members get scar clearly related to magic, you can't tell. But you notice Abuela has a scattering of irregular dots on the back of her hand, undoubtedly from her first year as keeper of the magic. Something from the house more than likely.
Mirabel doesn't have any scars that you can see, but who knows?
Augustin's face has a smattering of dark pinpricks. The bees never seem to give him a break, it seems.
"Y/n?" Abuela asks.
You startle, "Eh, yes Abuela?"
"Why are you so pensive, Hijo? Is something the matter?"
You think for a moment, "Er... No. Nothing that should be asked here."
...
"Very well, then. But if it's still bothering you, you just say something. Alright?"
You nod, and go back to eating.
Yeah, it's way to personal a question to ask at the dinner table.
bro this is such a cool idea i love your writing so much and i can’t get enough of it!!! literally screamed when i saw this in my ask box LMAO i know exactly which post you were talking about the second i started reading it’s this one. i love the way how this is so thought out and how the family interacts and it makes me realize i miss the abundance of encanto fics :(( but seriously this is SO amazing like how reader got their scar and how everyone else’s scar is also revealed too is just so ahhhh! you should write more, you have a talent for this!
okay so!!! i just caught up with lmfe and I! AM! LOVING! IT!!! I CANT EXPRESS MY UNDYING LOVE FOR THAT FIC!!! THE WRITING??? THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT??? THE ANGST???? CHEF'S KISS I TELL YA!!! i love how you write reader!!! she's not the stereotypical kind mom who went through trauma, but she's unconsciously projecting it to her kids (not that it's a good thing irl, but some write characters as strong people who just gets over the trauma, yknow?? we actually see reader going through trauma so subtly that you cant even tell it's there!) there's something about the way you write that really brings me in and it's just so poetic!!! I LOVE IT!!!
i have a few theories up in my mind about whats gonna happen, and im not sure if theyre all right but it's worth a shot! it's okay not to answer because you know, spoilers and stuff (but i hope you do answer!!!)
Mateo's going to die (I HOPE NOT). if not dead then maybe just sick???? I DONT KNOW NELLY. YOU FORESHADOWED SCARY SHIT IN THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS ABOUT MATEO AND IM SCARED
And THIS chapter!! i handle tarot cards before and I just know that these are tarot card descriptions!!! i never would have thought about it until i saw this line "he sits in all of his glory with the keys of Heaven at his feet" and i immediately knew this was The Hierophant! WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING HERE NELLY?? IF YOURE SUGGESTING ONE OF THE KIDS WILL BE REBELLING THEN IM GOING TO GO WILD im still figuring out the other descriptions of the vision because i just had to come here IMMEDIATELY before i can make sense of them!!
Also i think Encanto is?? going?? TO WAR?? YOUVE BEEN FORESHADOWING SO MANY SHIT EVEN IN THE BEGINNING CHAPTERS THAT I FEEL LIKE IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SOON???
i still have so many theories in mind!!! im rereading all the chapters as we speak because i am deep into this story.
(also i didnt realize that this became super long because i just went on a ramble. I AM SO SORRY!! I LOVE LMFE SO MUCH THAT I JUST WENT ON AND ONE WITHOUT KNOWING)
Okay first of all, oH MY GOD ANON. GODDAMN. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ENJOYING AND SUPPORTING THE STORY💖💖💖 I REALLY APPRECIATE IT! I never expected this much love to go into the fic since it’s frankly my first time writing something so long and detailed! Your support really just warmed my heart in all the right spots💖
Super glad you noticed the details I put into writing! I didn’t want to write the reader as this perfect mom who just had trauma then moved on. I wanted her to try to move on but unconsciously internalized her fears until it became a part of her, therefore projecting it to her kids as she raised them. It’s unconscious and frankly unnoticeable, at least, I hope I wrote it subtly enough that it’s implied. I didn’t want to outright say it, so I wrote it through the reader’s interactions with Bruno and the kids.
The general idea of the reader's character is based on Alma’s own, as I had intended for the reader to be a mirror of Alma’s ways. @cheesy-cryptid and I joked about how the reader is an ‘Alma kinnie’, but those lines ring true; Reader is—in a way—Alma’s counterpart. Reader has been under Alma’s wing since she was a baby, and she desperately wants her approval. The way Alma raised her also influenced her way of raising the kids. If you look at it in another way, Reader is what the Madrigal grandkids would be like if they had listened to Abuela’s every instruction without fail (generational trauma amirite). This will especially be proven true in later chapters. And I think you know when it’s going to happen if we follow through the film’s timeline.
Now for your theories💖 I want to tell you everything I have planned, but you already know that a big red SPOILER is going to greet you on the face😭 But I can at least answer some of your theories!
First off, you are correct! Chapter 47 did imply tarot cards! And you got the part where one of the kids is The Hierophant! I think you already know based on the description that it’s our lovely boy Javi💖 I’ll keep the other two tarots hush hush for now until you can figure it out😏 All of the tarots have meaning to them that will foreshadow the future of the story, so do your best on deciphering them!
About Mateo…I’ll leave that to your imagination until I can reveal it in future chapters XP But u h , let’s just say it’s not going to end well for him.
And about Encanto going to war…well, the truth is— //[REDACTED]
Thank you thank you THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading Love Me for Eternity! It really means a lot to me to see you all so invested! Keep those theories coming, even how long it’s going to be! I won’t mind at all (in fact, I really enjoy the long asks and messages!) I really love to read everything that you can think of!💖 I really do take pride at the fact that none of ya’ll can anticipate my next move for the story, especially when we reach post-canon *evil chuckles* But maybe I’m wrong and someone can actually figure it out, who knows XP
Chapter 8
Previous: Chapter 7
••❣︎❤︎❣︎••
*Crying noises*
Y/n's eyes twitches open when she heard wailing. The 22-year-old woman groggily gets off of the couch and stretches, then she heads towards the crib where a baby was laid.
⊱⋅ ──────────── ⋅⊰
✰ Chapter 8 ✰
Time Passes
"Liliana..." Y/n yawned. She bends down to cradle the baby. She rocks her back and forth, still not good at taking care of a child but she's trying. "D-Do you want milk?" She quickly grabs the half-full bottle of milk, pressing it against Liliana's mouth only for her to slap it away and continue to sob loudly.
"Did you have a nightmare?" The woman hushes the baby when an idea came to her mind. She gently places Liliana back in her crib and then quickly went to her vent room and get the music box.
Y/n blows all the specks of dust away from it before smiling contently and then going back to the living room. She twists the lever after she put it on the coffee table. Then, the tune of twinkle twinkle little star can be heard. The woman goes back to Liliana, her 5-month-old niece.
Y/n cradles the whimpering Liliana cautiously, afraid that she'll get hurt if she isn't careful with her powers.
"Twinkle twinkle little star," the young woman sang along with the tune of the music box, stroking Liliana's rosy cheek. "How I wonder what you are." She grabs a tissue to wipe off her niece's snot and throws it in the trash bin. "Up above the world so high." Y/n's calm and serene singing voice stopped Liliana's hiccups from crying. A small amount of glitter lights starts floating around the two.
The baby reaches her arms out eagerly trying to get one of the lights but Y/n stops her by holding her tiny hands in hers, "Like a diamond in the sky." She boops her nose, "Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are." Y/n smiles when her niece finally calmed down, then the music stops.
Liliana yawns before going back to her dream wonderland then Y/n gently puts her back in her crib.
Out of the blue, the main door bursts open, revealing a 4-year-old girl whose face is smeared with a bunch of colors and is holding a paper bag. Small fireworks popped out of Y/n's frightened figure. Thankfully it didn't wake up the sleeping baby.
"Hola tia!" She greeted while vigorously waving her arms, "Sorry tia." She added with a sheepish grin. "Ay Alondra." Y/n sighs and grabs a tissue to wipe the paint off of her niece's face then throws it into the trash bin, "How many times do I have to tell you? Your mama will get mad if she sees your face getting dirty." Y/n gently pinches Alondra's right cheek.
Alondra pulls on the woman's skirt. Y/n tilts her head down, raising her brow. Her niece then shows her a bag, "Camilo wants to give you this." Y/n slightly opens it with her index finger and sees that it's an arepa.
Y/n clutches the bag lightly, "Thank you Alondra, but next time, open the door slowly." Her niece nods before she rushes to her room to do her next artwork. Y/n sighs, "Ay Camilo." she whispered his name, "I told you to not give me food anymore, why won't you listen?" She lightly scolded him even though he was not there.
She is kind of hungry so she just accepts the food and eats it, her mother did teach her to not waste food.
Camilo was performing a telenovela with his tio Bruno using sock puppets to entertain the villagers in the town's square. "Bartolomeo is mine! He's mine! Mine only!" Camilo mimicked the voice of an angry woman.
Bruno smacks Camilo's puppet with his causing the villagers to gasp, "There is nothing for you Paula, my husband is mine!" "Mama?" An another puppet by Camilo appeared. Then two rats came into view holding a paper that says 'to be continued'. The audience got up from their seats and clapped as the two performers bowed with the puppets still in their hands. "Nice job as always sobrino." Bruno pats his nephew's shoulder as Camilo grins.
Then Alondra walked towards the two, showing a painting of them and their puppets made by her. The young man knelt to her level, "What a nice painting Alondra, you'll be a famous artist one day!" He cheered. He ruffles the little girl's hair making her laugh, "I painted this for the two of you!" She handed them her work, and Bruno gladly accepted it, "Thank you kid."
"Hey." Camilo called her attention back when the older man went to clean the stage, "How's your tia Y/n?" "She's doing fine." Alondra said while tapping her feet which Camilo finds adorable. He smiles at her response and stands up to get a bag of arepa on the table nearby, Alondra follows him. "Give this to your tia, ok?" The girl giggles, "But Camilo, tia said that you cannot give her food anymore."
He chuckles, "I just care for her." Alondra nods and grabs the bag before running to her house. "You still like that woman huh?" Bruno's sudden voice frightened Camilo a bit. The younger man nods with his head hung low, his tio pats his shoulder, "I have to be honest, sometimes I get worried for you, it's been 6 years since the two of you separated. There are many other women Camilo, why her?"
"She's the only one who can make my heart flutter even with just one glimpse tio." Camilo's eyes are full of love and sadness as he recalls the times when the two just stare from afar until the other, mostly Y/n, turns away. He looks down to his wrist to glance at the bracelet Y/n made. "Ah, young love." Bruno chuckles while shaking his head.
Camilo scratches the back of his neck while grinning nervously, "Hey tio, can I see my future?" "I-I.. uuuhhh.." the older man stammered. "Come on, please?" He clasps his hands together, begging dramatically.
His uncle sighs, "Okay, okay. But you better not blame me if it's something terrible." He raised his finger as a warning. His nephew nods, "Of course."
Camilo bends down with his hands on his knees as he huffs when they finally arrive at the top of Bruno's tower. "I feel.. sorry for.. you tio." He said between breaths. Bruno laughs, "You'll get used to it sobrino. Come on now." He opens the door to a dark room, Camilo follows him. The two then sit across from each other with their legs crossed inside the circle.
Bruno lets a small amount of salt out of his ruana and throws it behind him, lighting up a match afterward. He slowly burns the pile of leaves in front of them then the other four. He closes his eyes to take a deep breath and opens them again with his eyes turned glowing green. Camilo looks around as wind starts to occur.
"Get ready." Bruno said before a dome of sand was made. The curly-haired man shuts his eyes to avoid sand getting in his eyes. "Look!" His uncle exclaimed, "I see you, and... a woman!" Camilo looks behind him and it's indeed him and a woman. His eyes widen when he realized who it is, "Y/n."
It looks like Camilo is talking to her cautiously yet she's trying to avoid him with a scared look on her face. Present Camilo is getting worried, will he say something that'll disturb Y/n in the future?
Then it views that he's being burned alive, and Y/n in front of him on her knees, shouting and shedding tears.
Bruno's heart starts to race, scared for his nephew's life. He decides to stop and a green plate appears in his hands. "Camilo.." he stopped, not sure what to say next.
Camilo is turning cold, tapping his fingers as he tries to calm his mind. He grasps the plate from his uncle and scans it to see if his brain is tricking him. Unfortunately, it's not.
"Tio Bruno, please don't tell anyone about this." Camilo's grip on the plate tightens. Bruno replies with a terrified look, "Camilo, this is serious. If you don't want me to tell anyone, let's listen to mama." He continues, "And also stay away from flammable things." Right, he doesn't know that Y/n has powers.
Camilo nods his head in response, "Yes, thank you tio." He said in a low voice.
The man paces around his room as negative thoughts swarm inside his mind. He's going to die soon. Is Y/n really that dangerous? She does have fire as her power. But she seems to not want to cause any harm, like Bruno.
Then a knock on his door pulls him out of his thoughts. It opens and it's his sister, Dolores. "Camilo," she steps inside to get closer to him, "I know it's hard since you have feelings for Y/n, but I don't want you dead, please." She pleaded. He bites the inside of his cheeks, trying not to cry.
"Ok Dolores." Camilo replied with a reassuring smile. Dolores sighs before wrapping her arms around him, "Thank you." Camilo hugs her back. If his death will break his family's hearts, he swears that he'll try to shrug off all his feelings for Y/n for the first time in six years.
Epilepsy Awareness Month
Hello Everyone, I Just wanted to come on here and Talk about Epilepsy since it's Epilepsy awareness month (If u Can Pls Put Purple on ur account if u can)
Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations and sometimes loss of awareness.
Anyone can develop epilepsy. Epilepsy affects both males and females of all races, ethnic backgrounds and ages.
Seizure symptoms can vary widely. Some people with epilepsy simply stare blankly for a few seconds during a seizure, while others repeatedly twitch their arms or legs. Having a single seizure doesn't mean you have epilepsy. At least two seizures without a known trigger (unprovoked seizures) that happen at least 24 hours apart are generally required for an epilepsy diagnosis.
Treatment with medications or sometimes surgery can control seizures for the majority of people with epilepsy. Some people require lifelong treatment to control seizures, but for others, the seizures eventually go away. Some children with epilepsy may outgrow the condition with age. --------- I Have Grandmal seizures(Probably one of the deadliest ones) Since this year and I've had Focal seizures since I was a Baby. I have probably almost died 6 times in my life and 2 of them were seizure related(5, and 14) Please check up on your Epileptic Friends, Ask them to take their meds
Que se fue del encanto..
Mirabel grabbed Antonio, hoisting him on her back before kicking open Luisa’s door and grabbing her hermana mayor by the hand and yanking her out of the room. In the hallway, the two, very confused, family members Luisa and Antonio could see Dolores wrestling Bruno out of a painting in the wall.
With the candle in a small lantern next to her.
“B-But what about the others?!” Bruno whined, falling to the floor as Dolores pulled him up and pulled him along, picking up the candle.
“What have they ever done for you? They’ve only belittled you, and the rest of us. No more Tio! I can’t watch and listen anymore, so I’m taking things into my own hands.” Dolores said as she followed her hija down the stairs to Casita front doors.
“D-Dolores? Mira? Tio Bruno—w-what’s going on?” Luisa frantically asked, taking note to Casitas rumbling tiles.
“We’re leaving. This family isn’t fit for us, we aren’t staying. You have obviously been overworked and used, and I’m not letting it continue. Mirabel has been ignored, I won’t let any of it happen to Antonio. And we’re taking Tio Bruno as well. No more.” Dolores said, ushering them out the door.
Dolores carefully opened the latern and took the candle out, setting it down in front of Casita, backing away for a moment. The house rumbled and rattled, bright glowing gold pouring itself from the house to the candle.
Once it was done, Dolores placed the candle back into the lantern, and pushed the others away from the now inanimate house.
“What happened to Casita?” Antonio asked.
“Casita is coming with us. The magic from it was transferred back into the candle, so Casita will be wherever we go.”
“But where are we going?” Bruno said, no longer fighting against the two girls who had sat onto a cart that had a donkey. With Dolores driving, the others in the back sat as the noticed that their bags had been loaded into the cart, full of what was mostly likely their clothes.
“Away from here,” Dolores sneered, not looking back at the house.
(Part written By @gamerbearmira)
Morning arose in Casita, there was no knocking on doors.. weird, Alma looked at the Window where the Candle should be, It wasn’t there.. “What, Where did the Candle go!?” She rushed outside her door to find 3 Dark doors and The Nursery left open. Antonio, Mirabel, Dolores and Luisa were gone. “what happend..”
Pepa wailed “My Babies!” Félix tried Reassuring her but nothing worked, Julieta And Agustin weren’t in any better state.
“Their Gone, My Sweet Sweet Youngest Babies..” Julieta Was Heartbroken, not only were her two youngest girls gone, Alma didn’t seem to even care.
Coco x Encanto AU
Mirabel didn't know where she was, there was a huge bridge with flower petals "Wh..- This isn't Casita.." She proceeded to walk to the first person she saw "Hi I'm Mirabel Madrigal.. where am i?" Mirabel asked the skeleton "You're in the land of the dead.." Hector spoke "How old are you?" He asked "15." Hector stared at her for a few moments, this is the nieta of the Pedro Madrigal "Are you the youngest nieta of Pedro Madrigal by any chance?" Mirabel nodded "My name is Hector Rivera, You're in the Mexican branch, we should get you too the Colombian branch!" Mirabel nodded and Followed Hector to a "Bus" and stepped inside "So how did you get here? the last time some thing like this happened, a boy got cursed-" "La casa Madrigal fell on me"
“Oh.”
