[Finn has swam up to Bane's rock.]
He’s laying down, watching the boats floating off in the distance. Xe looks down at Finn and narrows xir eyes.

A Chance Encounter
@yestostart
It was one of those days that all the noise of the city was becoming too much for Ghost to deal with, and he sought reprieve in the patches of nature surrounding it. There weren't as many animals now as he’d remembered from before, but the buzzing of insects and some far off bird calls were a small comfort. Although it was slow going, the planet was recovering...and he was thankful for that.
But now that he was away from the city, the lack of sensory input was bringing the uncomfortable thrumming sound between his audials to the front of his attention. Feeling the space in his helmet slowly getting smaller, he felt sure enough that there would be no one this far out to see him, and removed it from his head. Ghost shook his head, fussed with his hair a bit, and plopped down on the ground against a tree. He stared up at the sky through the leaves wistfully, his view clear from the tint of his visor or shades. Such a beautiful shade of blue...

Compelled by melancholy and a need for something familiar, Ghost whistled his favorite blues tune to nothing and no one in particular.

LAPD detonated 5000 lbs of fireworks in the middle of a residential area, injuring at least 17 people and causing $900 million in various damages in a low-income, majority-POC neighborhood.
They then continue to pursue caging the person whose fireworks they stole while news media misreports to cover for police incompetency and destruction.

*there is a lot of incoherent and heavily slurred yelling coming from outside*
*that’s gotten darks attention and he gets up from his desk and sticks his head out the window*

Over 50% of U.S. children under 6 have lead in their blood, says a new study — with children most at risk living in poverty, pre-1950s housing or living in Black or Latino communities.
Even small amounts of lead can damage the brain, nervous system and cognitive development.
Black children in the U.S. are 3x more likely to have high blood lead levels than white children.
An NRDC study found:
▪️ BIPOC communities 40% more likely to have unsafe water
▪️ Unsafe water ties to segregation/discrimination
▪️ 130M drank from unsafe water systems in 2016-19
The Flint water crisis exposed about 9,000 young children to lead after officials switched water supplies to cut costs.
7 years later:
▪️ Pipe replacement still not complete
▪️ Benton Harbor, another Black-majority MI city, has water lead levels up to 60x federal limit

i find it so funny when men underestimate my intelligence simply because i’m a teenage girl.…little do they know that i’m smart not in spite of being a girl, but rather because of it. years before the boys have to, society forces us girls to analyze and introspect on our existences in a world that both hates and fetishizes us. we have to grow up fast, we have to look critically at anything and everything — otherwise we wouldn’t survive.
girls are so much more insightful and wise and self-aware than men could ever imagine. they just can’t understand us, and that’s why they hate us, mock us, belittle our passions and ideas. they fear us and *our* big secret — what we know that they can’t.
