Okay, Mario Movie trailer...
PROS:
- The visuals are incredible, but that's to be expected. Still, for a studio that usually goes for the bare minimum visually, it's impressive.
- Bowser looks and sounds amazing! Jack Black kills it, I couldn't tell it was him doing the voice. He's definitely gonna be a highlight.
- ACTUAL WORLDBUILDING!? We see different kingdoms, Bowser portrayed as an actual conqueror and the koopas as his army.
- Toad sounds pretty good. The tone is similar to the games but thankfully far less grating.
CONS:
- Mario just sounds like Chris Pratt. There's a vague attempt at replicating Charles Martinet's voice, but it lacks energy.
- They might be going for an isekai situation, which I'm not a fan of. Mario Odyssey already introduced New Donk City, just make THAT Mario's original home and the Mushroom Kingdom is just a different continent.

I gots 21 moar ask :}
Tumblr media
aaaaaaa I’m hanging in there as best I can-- also aaaa sorry for the lac of posts!! I’ve been so busy with life and trying to get part two of Bits and Pieces done aaaaa--
Tumblr media
AAAAAAA Its almost done!! I got all of the line art done and it just needs to be colored!!
Tumblr media
AAAAAAA I ONLY HAVE 8 CANVASES LEFT IM GOING AS FAST AS I CAN AAAAA---
Tumblr media
@immortalwithoutaname (Comic in question)
XD Well we’ll see what it ACTUALLY is in a future comic.. :}}
(Also thank you! I’m glad you liked it! :}})
Tumblr media
I have a comic planned that will address Roxy and Chica’s rocky relationship. So you’ll find out then!
Tumblr media
(Comic in question)
Actually.. The Daycare Attendant never came back.
In the story he did go to an employee the next day. But they told him the same thing. “We cant find anything wrong with you, so go back to work”
Sunny knew they were full of crap. So he figured to keep everyone safe.. He would keep the lights on at all times and not leave the Daycare until he could fix himself.
..A few months have gone by now, and he still hasn’t left the safety of the Daycare.
..DJ’s worried sick.
Tumblr media
I never really cared for it too much. That’s mostly why I made Sunny/Moony one person in my AU.
Having them be two separate characters sharing one body just got confusing. And I couldn’t see a reason why Fazbear Entertainment would want to have a dual AI animatronic like that.. So I just made him 1 person.
Also aaaaaaa nooooo my Gravity Falls art ehk--
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Chica’s eyes are almost identical to her “infected” eyes. The infected eyes are a bright toxic purple while her normal eyes are like a soft purple-ish pink.
Tumblr media
@waffleking193  After part 2 of “Bits and Pieces” comes out, I plan to take the time to flesh out my AU and really organize the timeline.
If I decide to keep the part where Chica gets crushed by the trash compacter thingy, she will not have been lured in by Monty Mix. She would have been lured in by a pizza.
Because in my AU, its just food in general that Chica wants to eat. And Pizza is the thing she is most consistently recognizes.
Tumblr media
I hate it :/
Nothing against Jack Black and Chris Pratt, but I really hate them for the voices of Mario and Bowser. And although I haven’t heard the voices of the other characters, I imagine I’m gonna hate them too.
Kamek’s voice was alright though, and Toads could’ve been worse. But I just couldn't get over Mario and Bowser.
The ONLY way I will be 100% fine with Mario is if they go with the Storyline of Mario being some random guy from Brooklyn or something that got transported into the mushroom kingdom. If they try to sell him as Italian I will be ANGRY
Also there’s nothing you can do to make me like Jack black as Bowser, I just keep hearing Po from Kung fu Panda. When ever Bowser talks he loses all of his intimidation.
Uhg and I bet they’re gonna make Bowser witty and quirky and the awkward comic relief character and whatever instead of the intimidating ruler that he is.
aaaaa other than the animation I’m so disappointed and have no hooopeeee
Tumblr media
XD I saw the results. Honestly not surprised in the slightest that Sans won.
In all honesty, if Sans was in the poll and DIDN’T win? I would be shocked and super confused. XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tbanks bro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh gosh eww you found my Gravity Falls content oh no--
Anyway although I still ADORE that show and all of its characters, I haven’t drawn Gravity Falls stuff in a long time :/
Tumblr media
*Part 3 --
And maybe! I haven’t forgotten about it. Just hit a brick wall in the planning process and am still sitting on it :/
Tumblr media
@ar1-thecat
Tumblr media
I have SO many things I wanna draw like Mario and Luigi brother stuff and Sky OCs and Splatoon OCs and Kirby OCs but I REALLY want to wait until part 2 of “Bits and Pieces” is done before I draw all that but life keeps getting in the way and I keep getting busy and keep getting really tired and unmotivated to work and I wanna play slime rancher 2 and Pokémon legends Arceus and Splatoon 3 and Sky but I gotta wait until part 2 is done but life keeps getting in the way and I keep getting busy and I k
Tumblr media
They probably wouldn’t tease Freddy about being Gregory’s dad/Freddy adopting him. Since Freddy, being a robot, standing in for a human parental figure doesn’t really.. compute for them.
BUT, they would definitely tease Freddy for being Gregory’s “favorite”. :}
Tumblr media
@sighlentknight
They have not, but they have heard of her. Gregory told them both all about her and what happened when he came to the Pizzaplex that night.
They do not like Vanessa.
@hugsandchaos
Tumblr media
@blue0fox Awww! Thank you! I’ve never gotten a compliment on my Gregory before! <:’DD 💗
Tumblr media
@milk-post oooo those are good ideas! :0
Tumblr media
@hugsandchaos I always imagined that Kwazii turned away from his life of pirating by choice. I favor of being a lieutenant on the Octopod and helping sea creatures. As to how he did all that I have no idea--
Also somewhat unrelated but I liked to imagine that Calico Jack was proud of Kwazii for his decision, despite being all about that pirate life. I imagined that he would talk to Kwazii and be like.
“Just look at ya lad. Dedicatin’ yer life to helpin others. Yer really somethin Kwazii. Yer the best of all of us.”  😭
Tumblr media
XD Spoiler alert, yes, Emmet will be fine. I’m not THAT cruel XD

The Eternity Arc
Mario Fixes The AC
The AC in the castle breaks, and unfortunately, it's during what is one of the hottest days in the kingdom. Everyone is miserable, and Mario elects to try and fix the AC. It, of course, all goes to shit.
Mario and the Antique Shop
A new antique shop has opened up, and Luigi, reeeeeally wanting to see what they have, drags Mario along. Lily and Lil Coding come along but leave about halfway through, seeing that a new shake shop has opened across the street. This episode is mostly Luigi trying to keep Mario from accidentally wrecking everything in the antique shop, while Lily and Lil Coding check out the new shake shop.
A Normal Game of Monopoly
Since this is SMG4, it's literally anything but normal. Relationships are being ruined, Shroomy is fucking dead, Saiko and Kaizo are strangling each other, and the castle is on fire. Though Lily and Lil Coding are oddly absent, but it is mentioned that they've been frequenting the new shake shop.
The Pingest of Pongs
Meggy got a new ping pong table for the gang! However, it quickly devolves into fierce competition between everyone when it's realized that everyone is actually kind of good at it. Lily and Lil Coding don't participate and only watch, drinking some milkshakes from the new shake shop. It's even pointed out how they've been frequenting it quite a bit, which has led to them not spending as much time with everyone else.
The Sleepover
The kids all decide to have a sleepover at Bowser's castle. After getting permission from SMG4&3, Lily and Lil Coding pack up the stuff they need and make their way to Bowser's castle. There's the usual shenanigans on their way there, including a meeting with the Happy Mask Salesman, a dancing group of Koopa Troopas, and more. However, as they make their way into the city, they decide to stop by the shake shop before continuing. Lily jokingly remarks it feels like they've gotten addicted to the shakes and Lil Coding semi-agrees.
They make their way in, order, and while waiting.. they look outside and see a particularly distressed looking Koopa Troopa. Lil Coding is able to hear the Koopa.. and it's wondering why everyone is acting so stupid, insane, and crazy?
He doesn't get to bring it up, because his and Lily's order is ready. When they leave, the Koopa Troopa is nowhere in sight. They both decide to remember it, to bring it up when they get home.
There's a cut and then it's the next morning, in the castle. We see that SMG4 is looking at a text from Lily from the night before, who confirmed that they did in fact make it to Bowser's castle safely. He and the others do their thing until.. the kids show up, but Lily and Lil Coding is missing. And the group looks confused.
When asked why, it's revealed that Lily and Lil Coding never showed up to the sleepover. It's proven and verified quickly, and it leads to a chilling question: Who used Lily's phone to send the text, and what happened to the duo?
Mario and the Missing Memes
Right around when it was found out that Lily and Lil Coding never made it to the sleepover, SMG1&2 drop by with troubling news; memes have been disappearing. Everyone, knowing full well that this only spells trouble after the last times beings started going missing, start investigating immediately. Its a semi-serious/semi-funny episode, which jokes and all that, but you can feel the underlying stress.
Eventually, a Goomba runs into Mario, and starts regarding the plumber as him pre-SMG self. Everyone is forced to play along, and it's slowly revealed that the Goomba is sane compared to the rest of the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Discreetly, SMG1&2 join their hands and attempt to use the Goomba as energy for their powers.
It doesn't work. Worse yet, none of the SMGs can sense any meme energy in the Goomba. It's as if it was drained of all of its energy.
When this is discovered, Melony and Meggy return from their searching with more troubling news; it seems as though the epicenter of all of this trouble seems to be.. Omnia Academy. And the Goomba drop another bombshell; someone at the academy, that was faculty, was named Damian and took it somewhere.
That makes Melony and Meggy go pale. Why?
There used to be a Mr. Damian at the academy, but he was long gone before any of the crew started attending.
The Shadows.
Finally, we get to see what's happened to Lily and Lil Coding. Their bodies are similar to that of Shadow Mario, but the texture seems more inky. Neither seem to be doing well. Lily looks as though she's on the brink of collapse at any moment while Lil Coding is acting like a robot.
We also get introduced to Damian, or truly known as Re: Eternity, an infamous virus. His main goal is to spread and live forever, but he's been neglecting that in favor of finding a way to live forever without infecting. Not because he's had a change of heart, but because he doesn't want to exert effort. So, he turned to harvesting meme energy.
It's revealed that he managed to convert Lily and Lil Coding via lacing their shakes with bits of his virus each time they came by. That way so it could slip past Lil Coding's antivirus and not immediately kill Lily. The captured memes and NPCs he has are rightly horrified about what he's done to these children, and constantly try to point out that Lily quite literally seems to be teetering on the brink of death due to inadequate sleep, food, and water, but Damian always brushes it off.
This mainly shows what the trio has been doing; Damian kidnapping those who have meme energy, Lily and Lil Coding harvesting it, and then giving it to Damian.
The episode ends when faint yet furious voices can be heard from the front of the academy, demanding to know where Damian is.
SMG4 Movie: Regarding My Eternity
Probably one of the most stressful movies yet. Damian narrowly escapes with Lily and Lil Coding, with Melony and Desmond (in their Deity Modes) crashing into the underground lab just a minute later. While they and a few others give chase, everyone else begins to look through the files the virus has.. and they come to a shocking realization; even with Damian processing the meme energy, it's still way too pure compared to a virus like him. In his quest to live forever.. he's been unknowingly killing himself.
The gang reunites once Damian has been caught. Unfortunately for them, his grip on Lily and Lil Coding is still strong despite the fact that seeing their friends and family has jostled his control over them. And he definitely isn't above using them as shields whenever he goes to defend himself.
The battle is long, arduous, but they do manage defeat Damian/Re: Eternity when the Guardians manage to hit him point blank with two balls of meme energy. Unfortunately for the virus, this triggers the rest of the meme energy that had been inside of him, which starts to eat away at his body before consuming him. Absolutely terrifying!
Thankfully, this doesn't harm Lily or Lil Coding, but the former is quickly rushed to the hospital when it's realized just how bad her condition is. Meanwhile, the USBs get to upgrading Lil Coding's antivirus, so it can better detect small threats like this.
In the end, the duo is okay, but now it can officially be said that Lily has her arc trauma. Here's to many more /j /lh.

Dat Mario Movie Trailer
I originally posted this on DA but thought I could also share my thoughts here.
Well after a few weeks of processing it, I thought I could give my thoughts on the trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Which is...not much other than...
youtube
It actually looks pretty good! So far....but it does look like a legit authentic Mario movie. All the tropes that many people feared when they heard Illumination would do aren't even there. No Minion clones, no toilet humor, not even Illumi-fied character designs. It doesn't even look like it was done by Illumination. Like it could be easily pass off as if Nintendo opened their own animation studio!
But literally the only problem I have with it is...of course, Chris Pratt's Mario voice. Now, I'm not one of those who relish in dog piling on Pratt (Which seems to be quite a weird trend as of late...), and while I did hear somewhat of a Brooklyn accent in later viewings...it still sounds like Chris Pratt...the complete opposite of what he promised. I mean, best case scenario, it can be a nice throwback to a pre-Charles Martinet Mario franchise like the Super Show, but it still makes me wish Martinet was still doing the voice..just, maybe slightly less exaggerated for most of the film.
...But everyone else sounds pretty good though, Jack Black sounds surprisingly spot on, like I can unironically hear this as a voice Bowser would have, Kegan Michael Key sounds pretty funny as Toad, again surprisingly with a fitting enough voice, and the little we heard of Charlie Day's Luigi, I mean...it could be worse.
There's also little touches to the character designs that feel kinda right. Like Mario's shirt having a collar, or Toad's sweatpants. They feel like fitting additions to movie versions of these characters.
Really, so far...this does have the potential to be Illumination's own Peanuts Movie or Into the Spider-verse. Something that surprises people and fans with an authentic respectful love letter to the famous IP they're adapting. It's especially sounds awesome knowing that it's Illumination of all studios.
Now....I've always been MUCH more nicer to this studio than most, mostly for the Despicable Me and Sing films, but while the rest of their film catalog has a lot to be desired, the few films that I enjoy can be fun to watch and have enough to like, and this does feel like this could be in the same ballpark as the films I've mentioned...maybe even something more.
Like....could this really be a turning point to a much more promising future for Illumination? Or will it just be an isolated incident?
I know people think it will be the latter...but I'm not so sure. After four years of spinning their wheels with three different franchises, I feel it's great that we're getting more original films from them again. Which we haven't gotten since the first Sing movie. The first being Migration, which is about a family of ducks migrating and the kids tricking their father into flying them to the Bahamas, directed by Oscar nominee Benjamin Renner (Ernest et Célestine and Big Bad Fox and Other Tales.) There's another one called Big Tree which will be based on a book by the guy who gave us Hugo, and based off an idea by Steven Spielberg and Chris Meledandri. It'll follow two sycamore seeds searching for a safe place to grow, a journey that spans thousands of years.. There's also another original film with Pharrell Williams playing a huge part. And since I loved the songs he produced for the studio, I'm really curious to know what that will be like. I don't know about you...but these films sound promising to me, and this Mario movie could be a good taste of what we could possibly expect from them. Especially with the people who are behind each one.

Ok I dont wanna annoy you because I sent too many requests, but i loved when the bruno gang played mario kart, but what about mario party?
YES
Also I’m still working on your other request but my brain is like 🗿 and I feel like if I try and write something serious right now it’ll turn out bad so enjoy this abomination
The Bucci Gang play Mario Party
Narancia was on cloud 9. Why you may ask? Well he successfully robbed a Game Stop for the first time without having to have Bucciarati bail him out of prison. He was so happy that he didn’t really care that all that they had were 47 copies of Mario Party 8 and an entire shelf of Animal Crossing Amiibos. Mario Party 8 was actually one of his favorite games, but he’d eaten the disc about a week ago as a dare from Mista. He grabbed a handful of copies, a few amiibos and the cash register for good measure and then ran back to their hideout to harrass the rest of the gang to play with him.
It was easy to decide who to play with because there weren’t really any options. Giorno had ran away because of their last encounter and Bruno was drunkenly watching reruns of desperate housewives (you do NOT interrupt his desperate housewives, especially when he’s drunk) so he asked Abbacchio, Fugo, and Mista. Mista agreed immediately, but he needed something extra to convince the other two. So he decided that the winner of the game would get to make the other three do whatever they wanted. Was this a bad idea? Yes. Did they care? No. He put in one of the Mario Party discs and grabbed 4 Wii Remotes. Unlike last time, there weren’t any issues starting up the game until they got to the character selection. Both Fugo and Abbacchio selected random; they just wanted to win so they could tell the others to go jump out a window. But Mista and Narancia..well..
“I WANT TO BE WALUIGI! YOU GOT TO BE HIM LAST TIME!”
“FUCK OFF, YOU CAN BE SOMEONE ELSE!”
“THIS IS WHY GIORNO REJECTED YOU!”
“I AM GOING TO SHOVE THIS WII REMOTE UP YOUR ASSHOLE!”
“THAT’S KINKY!”
That went on for far too long before Fugo got pissed and took the remotes from them. “Shut up, you guys can shove the Wii remotes up each other’s assholes later. Now you’re going to be Peach and Daisy because I hate you,” he said, selecting those characters before handing them back to the two screaming children. They protested a bit but mostly stayed quiet because they didn’t want to suffer the wrath of Fugo. After that, they selected a random stage and the shortest number of turns (which happened to be 10) and then started the game.
The first round went in silence until the mini game started. It was one of the games where you jerk off the Wii remote as fast as you can and see who jerked it off the fastest. Abbacchio and Fugo groaned at this, but the two dumbasses cheered. Narancia won easily, causing Mista to snicker about how quickly he could do that motion with a Wii remote.
The second round wasn’t so quiet. Fugo managed to get the first Star of the game from actually strategizing, only for Mista to steal it through dumb luck. Fugo tried to contain his anger but ended up screaming and throwing the Wii Remote on the ground. He didn’t give up though; he was determined to win. This time, the mini game was strategy based so Fugo won easily.
In the third round, Abbacchio got a Star which landed him in first place tied with Mista. Narancia also landed on a Star space but spent all of his coins on candy so he didn’t have enough to buy the Star. The mini game was luck based and Narancia ended up winning it.
The fourth round started by Mista sighing and saying something about how he was going to lose because of this round alone. That actually ended up being somewhat true because Fugo stole his Star. The mini game winded up being a 2v2 with Abbacchio and Fugo vs. Mista and Narancia. Abbacchio’s team won for obvious reasons.
Nothing interesting happened in the 5th or 6th rounds because the Star had spawned super far away from everyone. The minigames winded up being another luck based one that Mista won and a 3 v 1 mini game that Narancia won because all the 3 v 1 mini games are broken.
Round 7 is where shit stared to go down. Fugo got another Star which landed him in first place, and then Abbacchio lost his star from a Bowser space. Fugo was starting to feel really confident that he would win, which was only strengthened by the fact that he won another mini game afterwards.
Nothing interesting happened in rounds 8 or 9 either except that Narancia won two strategy based mini games in a row, much to everyone’s suprise.
In round 10, Mista got a Star and Narancia won the minigame. It was too late though, as Fugo had already won. Or had he?
As he was celebrating his premature victory, the Bonus Star screen showed up. Narancia won the bonus stars for both most mini games won and for most items bought. And because Narancia had more coins than him, he won as a result. This caused Fugo to lose his shit once again and do the first thing he could think of. He gripped his Wii remote tightly and shoved it up Narancia’s ass as hard as he could.
It’s safe to say that they didn’t let him play Mario Party anymore.

FRUITS BASKET ‘19 EPISODE 24 VS FRUITS BASKET ‘01 24-26 (PART 1)
*takes a sip of wine* ...I honestly don’t know how this review/recap is gonna work cos... I have a whole load of notes on the new 2019 episode, the three last 2001 episodes and the manga. And I thought I was gonna do a simple comparison but goddamn it... those last three episodes of ‘01 go way off the rail.
If the last three episodes of ‘01 were Mario in Mario Kart, it’d be him just doing a continuous drift... way into the grass... while trying to pick up Princess Peach, Bowser AND Luigi... even though the game wouldn’t allow it and he has a one person car.
*sigh* So, let’s start off:
----------------------------------------
When I think of the True Form Arc, I think three simple points are vital to be shown:
Kyo’s true form is to be revealed to the audience and to Tohru
Kyo’s past with Kazuma and his mother/(partly)father
Tohru still accepting Kyo and declaring her love need for them to be together and share each other’s pain and joy
The True Form Arc is a very important story, very emotional story, but at most is a stepping stone to a bigger arc/conclusion and 2019 understood this the most and pretty much followed the manga to the book, with a few flourishes they took from the 2001 anime. 2001 did... well... it did a disjointed mash up of a sorts. So, I’m mostly gonna use the 2019 version to talk about things I found interesting about the main plot as well as the particular things they did that intrigued me this time around. And I’m gonna pretty much try and compare it the 2001 version when it does relate and try and treat the other non-canonical stuff it puts in as a sort of ‘elseworld’ story and not judge it on it’s accuracy but if it’s interesting or not. Cool?
----------------------------------------
- I’m still not comfortable with the way the episodes are split up for the True Form Arc this time around. If I can give one compliment to the 2001 version, is that they really let the arc sit with you and for the audience to digest it and feel it (oh, the ever lasting rain). Yes, three episodes of true form Kyo was way too long! But I do think that at least 1.5 episodes would’ve been perfect for me.
- In general, I really love that Kazuma is respected by all the Sohmas. Even Shigure manages to behave himself!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I took a first glance at Kyo’s kinda cold/awkward attitude to Kazuma, I just assumed it was as was said, that Kyo was being shy about his feelings toward Kazuma and also not wanting to show any slither of ‘weakness’ or vulnerability around Yuki. But then, I found myself thinking...
Have you ever been in a situation where you’re with a group of some friends and they’re good friends and you’ve just gotten to know them fairly recently but then your BEST friend comes along and they’ve known you for pretty much most of your life and you are genuinely happy to have them there... butttt they also know EVERY single dirty secret about you and you are just silently internally begging them to not tell your other friends about that time you threw up in their bed when you were underage drinking at their house party? That was the feeling I got the most and I love it haha
Tumblr media
First tears of the evening. The fact that Kyo would be so vulnerable to let someone even touch his head must be so shocking for the new viewers and I’m so excited for them.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT HIS SMILE! I CAN’T. I COULDN’T SAY NO TO THAT SMILE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just love his metaphor of the ‘lukewarm bath’. God, my boy is really not adjusted to this slice-of-life living, he really does think he’s in a shonen anime lol. But, in all seriousness, I’ve found this to be a thing most commonly amongst the straight, cis guys that I know. They find it hard to have personal and emotional friendships (let alone relationships) and the reason - that I’ve been told anyway - is cos they’re scared that with that much softness it’d just give way for them to fall completely apart... It’s really unfortunate that sometimes society won’t let them fall apart and sometimes they can’t find a safe space to fall apart.
And kid, we all know from the New Year’s episode that you scream when you don’t know how to express complex emotions of love - stop kidding yourself. God, that episode still has my favourite Kyo smile.
- Right. So, I really don’t like that Kazuma forcibly takes off Kyo’s beads without Kyo’s consent or want to reveal his true form. And I think a lot of it stems from this additional scene in ‘01 with Akito that reveals that this was an actual premeditated idea formed between the two...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really don’t like that addition at ALL. I haven’t re-read the manga completely so let me know if I’m dissing the canon, but Kazuma knows that Akito does not have the best intentions for Kyo. I get that Akito is the head of the family but I feel like characters like Kazuma, Ayame and (kinda) Kagura tend to skip across the lines and regulations that Akito sets. And this just made no sense to me. Why would he?
But regardless of that addition, I still don’t like the decision to take off Kyo’s beads forcibly. Kyo needs help breaking down his exterior, yes but I do question whether he maybe would’ve ended up telling Tohru in his own time? Hmm... Maybe not. But I do like that in the very near future (spoilers), Kazuma does recognise this action he took.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this moment so much. Shigure and Kazuma are actually on the same page for just this arc in taking actions that will manipulate situations and hurt people for a greater good and it’s insane when you think of it like that - especially when you hate Shigure as much as I do. But Shigure being well aware of the personal catastrophe that could await from pulling off a move like this shows he’s aware at the very least... (not that he cares *sigh*)
- Kazuma confronting Kyo for the eventual reveal, I really loved in the 2019 version. The spinning camera definitely made that intense feeling a lot more real. And the rain... and Kazuma essentially playing the villain was a different take than ‘01′s version. In general, Kazuma in ‘01 just looks so tired and almost haunted?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe it’s the grey hair that’s doing most of the work, but he just looks and acts so exhausted and weary which is interesting when you include Kyo’s later thoughts on why he doesn’t want to burden Kazuma with having the title of ‘father’ in relation to him. I definitely prefer ‘19!Kazuma. You can tell he loves Kyo but he does run a dojo so he has more of an edge and a sternness about him so if he’s gonna teach Kyo a lesson he’s gonna fucking mean it lol. But tbh, Dameon Clark sells it in both versions. Even the way he says ‘you haven’t changed’ in the ‘01 version is heartbreaking. You can tell he knows there’s many facets to this character and he puts his all into it in both iterations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO MUCH CAN BE SAID IN ONE LOOK. THESE BABIES. 💔
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I will get into what I like and dislike about what 2001 did with these three getting involved in what is essentially Tohru and Kyo’s story in part 2 of this review (it’s already way too long and I’m scared I’ll lose the whole thing), I do also respect the original manga story of them essentially just turning their head away from Kyo and it’s implied that they can’t help it(?). It really just solidifies to the audience what Kyo’s position in the family is. While he is liked by what seems like a lot of members of the zodiac, they can’t help him because they are under the same rule of Akito and the order of the zodiac. Which is why I really love what Kagura says in ‘01 to Yuki after Kyo runs off...
But... you’ll have to read part 2 to see what I feel about the next part of the episode. 😈

SMG4 Review Ultima 2020 Pt. I
Tumblr media
*Slam* The First Half of the year is officially over and by god, how much of a year it was. Needless to say, Fuck. But I wanted to celebrate making it this far by looking over one creator that has helped me keep going and that’s SMG4. His vids are still something else and today we’re doing a lightning round, no holds barred! Let’s do this...
Mario Gets His Pingas Stuck in the Door
Pretty great starter episode as last year. How they’re able to escalate things is pretty hilarious and like a door to the dingdong, it sticks the landing. (Grade: A)
Mario School Club
Ah, an episode where it’s about a group and they each get good segments. Shroomy’s club was my favorite and I enjoyed Mr. Monitor’s debut. It gets the same score. (Grade: A)
Bowser Loses Custody of his Children
This episode’s pretty straightforward. It has its jokes but it’s admittedly not a standout. Honestly, I was kinda believing we’d get an arc for this cuz I feel like this would’ve worked if Bowser didn’t get his kids back and we’d save getting them back at a later date.  (Grade: B-)
If Mario Was in the Sonic Movie
Eggman really stole the show with this and it was definitely better than the actual Sonic movie because I actually had more than a couple chuckles. Plus no shitty product placement. The romance element was especially a poignant turn because it made me love Swagmaster a lot more. Overall great to go back to when I want a good time. (Grade: A)
Mario’s Magical TV
Has its moments but they might as well have been one off shitposts on Twitter. Looking back, it’s an inferior episode to one later down the line and ends up being pretty meh. Also reminds me of Rick and Morty which did it better 3 times now. (Grade: C-)
Lord of the Memes
Ah, a Lord of the Rings parody. It’s a fun adventure that has some clever references, some pretty cinematic moments, and a great climax. Especially loved how they recreated smeagle’s arc and is great spin on their D&D episodes. (Grade: A)
Meggy’s Destiny
Still a good movie that works better emotionally than logically. Couple annoying moments but there are indeed great moments, especially in the 3rd act, that balances things out. Overall, it’s not as great as the anime arc, but it’s a fun bout that caps off that arc in a heartfelt way. (Grade: B+)
Mario Commits Tax Fraud
This was exceedingly one note. Barely got a laugh out of me beyond the climax and nothing’s really compelling me to enjoy thinking about this again. Might as well have played Yoshi in GTA 5 to get the same experience but better. (Grade: D+)
If Mario was in Animal Crossing
The ending is all that really mattered and it unfortunately shows how little Animal Crossing had in terms of worthwhile memes to utilize and even then, they really faceplanted with how forgettable this kinda was. Seriously, even the froggy chair gag was pitiful and predictable. (Grade: C-)
Mario Runs Out of Toilet Paper
Unexpected is what I’d call this. The second half raises the memes to a pretty great logical extreme and it’s surprising that this came from a real world annoyance. Really turned lemons into lemonade because fuck the hoarders. Those people made me side with Thanos for a while. (Grade: B+)
Mario’s Inside Story
Pretty fun adventure, but it kinda stinks that Saiko has little to really do anymore. Her chemistry with Luigi is good, but it would’ve made little difference to replace her with someone else. The story itself works well even with a predictable ending, but I just wish Saiko could do more. (Grade: B)
The E G G
This episode basically reused one of my most hated story tropes ever. “Oh no, they’re taking care of a baby but the baby won’t stay still and hijinks ensues.” This wasn’t good when Tom & Jerry did it, I certainly don’t like it here. And JubJub doesn’t make it better by being a blathering Boopkins echo fighter. That’s all he is and I’m with Mario where I wish he wasn’t around. Fuck this episode. (Grade: F)
Wario Tries to Stop Himself From Dying
A pretty great take on the ‘Wario Dies.mp3′ meme that reminds me so much of Happy Death Day. Huge step up from the previous entry and it’s a solid episode revolved around one of my favorite fat man. (Grade: B+)
Meggy Moves In
This is honestly an episode that just turns into a mess. There’s really only one good joke but other than that, it’s not charming or a laugh riot. It’s fine, just really bland. (Grade: C-)
Mario is Cancelled
I’d say it exhibits the basics of cancel culture well, but this is the most boring episode imaginable. Too much attempts at commentary not enough jokes. This almost felt like what a Karen would think SMG4 episodes are like. (Grade: D-)
The Totally Legit Learning Show with SMG4
This is Mario’s Magical TV but better. Every segment is either funny or charming as hell and it all just sticks to a more captivating lookback. (Grade: A)
🌽🌽🌽🌽𝓒𝓸𝓻𝓷🌽🌽🌽🌽
Pretty casual and charming episode. Not a major laugh machine but I was consistently enjoying every moment. Bonus points for not giving JubJub a lot of screen time and making Rob the scarecrow a lovely character from start to finish. Kinda weird that they went with corn but it’s not a dealbreaker. (Grade: B+)
Mario the Supreme Leader
A legit laugh riot from start to finish. Feels like a sequel to Smart Mario but taken to an equally great extreme. It’s great (Grade: A)
War on Beeg SMG4
Again, an episode where Saiko is apart of the ride but is mostly sidelined in terms of what to do. Otherwise, this is like the Toilet Paper episode where it’s unexpected and I really didn’t know where it was gonna go. Though this is a little better because a few moments stuck out to me more.  (Grade: A-)
Officer Meggy
Meggy is cute as a cop and Mr. Monitor is utilized better here than his other appearances. The story’s alright and is a pretty charming next step for Meggy after the Splatfest adventure. (Grade: B+)
Mario vs. Siren Head
A delightfully devilish take on the horror figure. It’s kind of a copy from the Sonic Movie episode but still a nice episode centered around Siren Head, with a pretty great ending to cap. (Grade: B+)
The Demon Among Us
Pretty mid in terms of story and comedy. I figured they would make an episode about Shroomy’s carnage side and I wonder if this’ll become an eventual arc but I doubt it. Found it pretty meh more than anything. (Grade: C)
Mario's Spicy Day 🔥
Not a major fan of SMG3′s voice, but I didn’t mind this episode. Heck, it hardly involves Mario so the title’s a little misleading. Not a lot to say with it, though, has its jokes and a nice emotional moment but other than that, it’s pretty mid.  (Grade: B-)
SSENMODNAR Reddit Special
Hit and miss, but mostly hit. The JOJO and Teletubbie skits were the greatest, but I feel some just felt like lazy answers. Overall, some good fun but I’d be fine if it was fanwork specials like the previous ones.  (Grade: B-)
【AND THAT'S TIME!】
Well, quite above average all around. If you want my top 5 favorite, that’s not happening. Let’s see where the 2nd Half provides as the memes roll on.
Stay safe out there, and see you at year’s end.

For Your Entertainment ~ Chapter Five
Tumblr media
Summary: Princess Peach visits Luigi to talk.
Warnings: Gore, Character Death, Murder
The screen flickered once more.
Luigi watched with tear-stained eyes, frozen. He could feel Peasley holding him close, trying to calm him, but his senses were numb.
The clip wasn’t over yet, Toadette’s lifeless corpse being released from the shackles upon the wheel. She was dragged away from the view of the screen. Her brother’s head soon followed, casually kicked after her body.
The screen glitched, revealing static and broken images, before finally clicking off to show pitch blackness.
Peasley held his head low out of respect. He paused, shifting to examine Luigi and evaluate his wellbeing. He looked entirely broken, his composure and mind shattered. His face was a pure white.
”Luigi...”
Peasley shook his head, standing up defiantly.
“We’re going to go get help. Right now. Mario and the Princess, we’re going to go get them both. They’ll be able to help us-“
”Peasley...” Luigi’s voice trembled. “I can’t... I don’t...”
”You can stay here. I’ll go get them myself and bring them back here-“
”NO!”
Luigi shrieked as he ran to Peasley, grabbing his arm, pulling him into a desperate embrace. He held onto him like a life preserver, unable to let go as he wept into Peasley’s shoulders, whimpering and sobbing.
”D-Don’t leave me... G-Grambi... n-no... H-He’s g-going to kill me!”
”No. No, he won’t.” Peasley kept his voice firm despite Luigi squeezing the breath out of him. Peasley shifted, moving out of Luigi’s grasp. “He won’t lay a hand on you. I promise you that.”
”But... h-he...”
”Above all else, I’m going to keep you safe. That’s what I promised you. Until my last dying breath, I will do everything in my power to protect you. He won’t hurt you.”
”I d-don’t want you to leave m-me... he... he’ll take you too...” Luigi sniffled, uneven sobs escaping him. “I-I don’t want you to g-go... he’ll... he’ll... f-find you and kill y-“
”Luigi...” Peasley interrupted his husband’s frantic words. “We can’t just sit here and wait it out. As much as I hate to say it, that deranged man knows where we are already. We have to do something, quickly, before he can hurt anyone else.”
Luigi shivered, holding his sides. “I... I don’t want... I don’t...”
Peasley exhaled, walking away from Luigi to turn off the static television. It switched off with a comforting clunk, the nightmarish video vanquished for now. He stood up and pressed a hand to his face, rubbing at his eyes tiredly.
“Luigi... We cannot let this man know we are afraid. We have to stay strong. He has to see he won’t break you over something like this. He’s trying to get back at you, as childish and immature as that sounds. And if we give him no reaction... he... he’ll...” Peasley hesitated. “He’ll leave us alone.”
”But, P-Peasley, I’m scared... You don’t know... w-what he...” Luigi’s voice was hushed, squeezing his eyes shut as tears slipped down his cheeks. “I’m so scared. I’m s-so, so scared... H-He’s supposed to be d-dead...”
”I know... I know it’s frightening. I know. But, it’ll be okay, I promise.”
Luigi nodded, whimpering. Peasley lifted his hand to wipe Luigi’s tears away, holding his face soothingly.
”Hush now.” Peasley whispered with a gentle hum, trying to calm his husband in any way he could. He hugged Luigi warmly. “Everything will be oka-“
There was a harsh knocking at the front door.
Peasley involuntarily released a rather shrill scream, grabbing onto Luigi for protection out of pure shock. After a moment, he coughed nervously and stepped back.
Luigi was frozen, his body visibly shaking.
”W-Wait here, I’ll go...” Peasley cleared his throat, relaxing his shoulders. He tried to control his hurried breathing as he turned away from Luigi.
He walked to the window, pulling back the drawn curtains slowly. He gasped, rushing over to throw open the front door without any signs of hesitation.
For, standing in the doorway, was a crying Princess Peach.
She held a rectangular object in her hands, an all-too-familiar video cassette tape clutched tightly in her grasp.
She sniffled, trying to compose herself.
”Can... C-Can I please talk to Luigi?”
                                          - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Peasley poured a cup of tea for Peach, the group having retreated to the kitchen to talk.
Luigi, through mostly incoherent babbling and mumbles, tried to explain the situation to Peach, telling her everything. The letter, the tapes, the threats... everything.
Peach nodded slowly, listening intently to every word. And once he had told her everything he knew, she began her own explanation.
She had woken that morning to a parcel having been delivered to her quarters, a Toad explaining it was a gift for her. It had been left out in the main hall, the Toad quickly adding on that they didn’t know how it had gotten there.
Inside the box was a tape. And, though it took Peach awhile to find a way to play it, she eventually watched it.
And much to her horror, the tape featured one of her dear friends and subjects being murdered by an old enemy she had previously thought was dead.
And since Mario was out traveling the world with Cappy, she knew she had to get the help of the only other people who knew of Dimentio’s existence, rushing out to Luigi’s manor without a second thought.
She finished her explanation with a deep exhale, her bottom lip quivering as she tried to hold back tears.
”D-Dimentio is... he was supposed to have been locked away in the Underwhere. To rot and suffer.” Peach’s tone was laced with venom. Peasley had never seen her look so upset. “We ended his game-!”
”And you have no idea why he might be doing this?” Peasley inquired. “Or how he might have escaped death?”
”No. No, I... I don’t.” Peach stared up through a lidded gaze, expression exhausted and dull. “Dimentio was never a sane individual... but I-I... I didn’t think he’d be capable of something s-so horrendous...!”
She abruptly forced out a desperate laugh, her laughter dissolving into sobs.
“He shouldn’t be alive! He shouldn’t be able to hurt anyone else!”
Peasley pushed a box of tissues toward her, sighing as he tried to wipe away the tears forming in his own eyes. He didn’t want to cry in front of her.
Abruptly, Luigi stood, holding his sides. Polterpup followed him with a confused whimper, barking at his owner for attention. Luigi ignored the spectral pup as he left the room, trembling and stifling tears, leaving Peasley alone with Peach.
Peasley wanted to go comfort his husband, but decided against it, realizing Luigi needed some time to himself.
The prince then tried to console the sobbing princess before him to the best of his ability. She wiped at her eyes after awhile, attempting to calm herself.
”P-Peach,” Peasley ventured carefully. “Pardon my asking, but...” He paused, running his fingers over the smooth porcelain of his teacup. “Who exactly is Dimentio? Why is he tormenting you and Luigi?”
Peach paused and sighed, steadying her breathing.
“Dimentio...” She cringed, the mere thought of his name turning her words of hatred to pure malice. “He was a jester, working for a villain named Count Bleck, who was trying to end all worlds. Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and I all worked together to try and stop his plans.
“And I didn’t realize it at the time... or perhaps I was in denial... but, at one point, we had lost contact with Luigi...
”A-And, during this whole fiasco, Luigi had been taken by Bleck’s crew and brainwashed into believing he was ‘Mr. L’... a minion serving under Count Bleck’s command. When we found him as our Luigi again, it was after Dimentio had seemingly brought his memories back to normal.
”And Dimentio...? He... He appeared to be nothing more than a minion following Bleck’s plans. But, he played us all for fools. When a time of vulnerability came, Dimentio betrayed the Count and...
Tumblr media
”He forcefully took control of Luigi’s mind and body, making him do his bidding under the persona of Mr. L... and the two fused with a dark entity to create a terrible monster, intent on destroying all dimensions.
”Mario, Bowser, and I defeated him quickly. Mario hated to see his little brother being used for evil like that...
”A-And, after that, Dimentio was gone. He seemingly... died. Right in front of our eyes. But, n-now... he...” Peach buried her face in her hands. “I don’t know how he survived. I don’t know.”
Peasley nodded, trying to take in all the information. Dimentio certainly sounded like a menace, if what Peach described was accurate.
”So, he blames Luigi for his defeat? That’s why he’s coming after you all...?”
”That letter you mentioned... if t-that’s true, then it means Dimentio is coming after Luigi’s friends and loved ones. He wants them gone.”
Peach glanced up, her face pale as she came to a startling realization.
”You two... you two aren’t safe here. He knows where you live. He knows where he can find you. And... if he does, then-“
Peasley nodded, standing. He rubbed at his eyes. “It’s been a thought plaguing my mind.”
”I can get reinforcements.” Peach offered. “I’ve already sent a letter for Mario and Bowser. But, I doubt that Koopa will answer me... he hasn’t even been attempting to kidnap me lately. It’s been about a week since I’ve heard a word from him. It’s a little odd, I must admit. Whenever I don’t want him to show up, he does... and the moment I actually need him, he vanishes!
”And Mario?”
”No response yet... but, until he does, I’ll inform the Mushroom Kingdom citizens to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity, and inform our allies of Dimentio.”
”But, Peach, will you be safe?”
She nodded. “I mustn’t abandon my people. I’ll stay here and keep watch over each of them. I won’t let the same tragedy happen again. I’ll be sure to keep in frequent contact with you.”
”I’ll have to send a letter to the Beanbean Kingdom... I wouldn’t want to worry Mother at all, though... perhaps Dreambert would be willing to let us stay at Pi’illo Island for a bit. He was saying at the meeting that he’d love to see Luigi again...”
Peasley quieted gradually, crossing his arms as he strode over to the hallway. “But, you’re right, Peach. We... We aren’t safe here.”
Peasley’s heart sank as he heard the muffled sounds of Luigi crying from the other room. Hundreds of thoughts ran through Peasley’s mind, but he eventually settled upon the most obvious solution.
He had to protect Luigi, no matter what. Above all else.
They just had to get away.
”Tomorrow, then.” Peasley announced to Peach. “Tomorrow, we leave the Mushroom Kingdom.”

Survey #7 on the Countdown to 2019!
Since my last survey I’ve been sick, busy, lazy... It’s been a long time, but I felt up to doing another right now. I’m not promising any more as a follow up to this tonight, though. I’ve been too into anime lately.
Air Conditioning - At what level or temperature is it on today?
I don't know exactly. It's usually on 68-70, though.
Pet - Where does your pet sleep at night?
Our dog Chloe sleeps on my parents' bed and my cats will be in the house or outside at night.
Laptop - Is it in your lap, on the table, or somewhere else and is it charging?
It's on a table in our living room and it's charging.
Smartphone - Who do you only use your smartphone to talk to without texting or otherwise?
I still don't own or want a smartphone. It’s not something I require because I hate talking on the phone and I'm not interested in texting.
If I go out then I like being unplugged so I can live my life. Being obsessed with some kind of tech is a codependency I really don't need.
Pillows - How many pillows do you actually use while sleeping, not just on your bed?
I'll use two for sleeping every night.
Candles - What's your favorite scent that you own and how often do you light it?
I prefer LED tealights, especially since I have cats. Scented items usually bother me too. I'm allergic to a lot of things.
Cigarettes - Who in your house smokes?
My father used to smoke off our property when he was stressed, but he hasn't done that in years to my knowledge.
My mother and I would never tolerate someone smoking in our house. That shit can kill you, including secondhand smoke.
Couch - How many people could sit comfortably on it?
We only have a love-seat in our living room. My parents and I only have recliners in the den. Mine is extra-spacious.
Glasses - Who wears glasses in your house and are they near or farsighted?
I wear glasses daily because I'm nearsighted and I can't wear contacts. Both of my parents will sometimes use cheap reading glasses, though. They're over 65 now, so their vision isn't as good as it used to be.
Toothpaste - What brand do you like best?
I have to use Sensodyne. My teeth are sensitive to hot, cold and sweet items. My whole body is hypersensitive.
Pencils - Do you prefer using regular or mechanical pencils?
I'd rather just use a pen, but I'll use either of those if they're available.
Coffee Mug - What kind of hot beverage do you drink the most?
I’ll mostly drink coffees that I make at home, although I'll drink ryokucha (green tea) too.
Television - What's your favorite television channel and what're the best shows on it?
My go-to channels are Investigation Discovery and The Weather Channel lately. I'm partial to A Crime To Remember and Evil Lives Here on ID right now, but TWC is something I watch no matter what's on.
The actual weather reports in the morning during AMHQ are really soothing to me and I like So You Think You’d Survive? and SOS: How To Survive.
Chap-stick - Do you get chapped lips a lot, and when was the last time you had them?
I don't often get chapped lips, but it occasionally happens in the winter. It happened sometime during the winter, probably before the new year.
Musical Instrument - What instrument is your favorite and what's your favorite song on it?
If I'm going to listen to only one instrument then I'd choose the ocarina. I like the drums, guitar, piano, harp. It's still better for music to be played with multiple instruments, though.
Trashcan - Whose responsibility is it to take out the trash at your house?
My father often does it, but sometimes I'll do it for him.
Plants - What kind of plants do you have in your house and how often are they watered?
We don't keep any plants.
Hair Dryer - Who in your family has the longest hair and how long is it?
My parents have very short hair, so mine is the longest. It's a bit passed my shoulders right now.
Chocolate - What kind is better, milk, dark or white?
I prefer white, but I'll also eat dark chocolate sometimes. My faves are Hershey's Cookies & Creme Drops if I'm having a real treat, or just the sugar-free Russell Stover Dark Chocolate Medallions.
Shoes - The last time you went out, what shoes did you wear?
My Wolverine hiking shoes. They're the best I've ever owned. I like sturdy footwear that encompasses my feet.
DVD Player - What do you have more of, VHS tapes or DVDs?
I think I tossed out all my personal VHS tapes years ago. I mostly have DVDS, but I’ve got some Blu-Ray discs too
Insects - When you find an unwanted insect inside of your house, do you kill it, take it outside, or leave it alone?
If it's just an insect then I prefer to put it outside if it doesn't have a stinger. If I find a lizard then I'm the same way.
But if I spot a spider, I'm going to try killing it because those can be dangerous. I can't really spot the difference, so it's better to just be safe.
Spiders are specifically arachnids and not insects, though. I'm not lumping them together, but some people call them "bugs" just because the word evokes the image of a pest that bugs them.
Obviously lizards are reptiles, but they're common here. That's why I had to mention them too. They often get into our house through the garage.
Razor - What are all the areas of your body that you shave?
I don't constantly shave, but I'll take the hair off my legs, arms and armpits if I feel like it. I won’t use razors, though.
Webcam - When you go on webcam, who do you chat with the most and do you use any specific sites or programs?
I don't use my webcam.
Refrigerator & Freezer - Does yours have an automatic ice cube maker, and do you prefer cubed or crushed ice?
We don't need one of those and we only use cubed ice. It's just that we rarely use ice at all.
Sunscreen - What SPF do you use?
I haven't used sunscreen in a long time, but if I do go outside for a while then I tend to stay in the shade. I burn so easily and I'm pretty allergic to a lot of things outside too.
It's been a big problem up until recently, but I've finally found a good allergy doctor now. Maybe I can go outside more soon.
Sibling - Do you get along with your siblings, and if you have more than one then which are you closest to?
I'm an only child.
Cereal - What kind of cereal is in your house right now, is it your favorite and if not then what is?
I think there's just some corn flakes. My fave is Cinnamon Toast Crunch even though I rarely eat that or any cereal.
Pain Relievers - What kind of pain reliever do you use when you have a headache?
We have some off-brand Tylenol with pain reliever. It's the only thing that really works, but if it's an allergy headache then I'll take one of those and a sinus pill of some kind as a decongestant.
Monopoly - When you play Monopoly, what game piece do you choose?
I haven't played in so long, but I used to pick the thimble or the dog the most. It’s been ages and I want to play again.
Now I’ve bought the Mario version since I’ve been having game nights with my mother, Miss Cindy and cousin Julie. We haven’t played it yet, though.
It’s got Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Donkey Kong. My preference would be Peach out of those followed closely by Yoshi, although you can buy others.
I would certainly love a Bowser, but my other faves from what’s available right now are the Boo, Tanooki Mario and Luigi figures. I’d say my number one is really the Boo figure, though. It’s my fave Mario baddie!
Bookshelf - What books, if any, have you read more than once?
I tend not to revisit books. I'm also much more fond of nonfiction.
Card Deck - What's your favorite card game?
The only one I really enjoy is Uno and I've got the Mario edition too.
Umbrella - Do you mind walking in the rain without one?
I really don't mind getting wet most of the time.
Mood Ring - What mood are you in right now?
I'm mostly good despite being pretty stiff since I woke up that way.
Hoodie - Do you prefer the kind with or without the zipper?
I'm good with zips and I like them more than pullovers.
Calendar - What's the picture on your calendar for this month?
The one in our kitchen is a Thomas Kinkade calendar. It's just some spring scene for May right now.
Pajamas - What do you usually wear to sleep in and are you comfortable falling asleep in jeans?
I would hate sleeping in jeans. My usual outfits are PJs, nightgowns or just a tee if it's hot out.
Backpack - Are you in school this year and if so, what grade are you in?
I'm turning 32 later this month, thanks.
Alarm Clock - What time do you have to get up tomorrow morning?
I don't have a specific time to be up, especially since it’s Saturday, and it's currently 12:55 AM too. I might go to bed in the morning.
Jewelry Box - What's your most expensive piece of jewelry, and if it was a gift then who got it for you?
It might be a heart charm necklace I got in a shop on the Kemah Boardwalk here in Texas near Galveston. I’m not really sure, though. It was something I wanted for my birthday from my parents.
Game Console - What's your favorite video game to play by yourself?
Animal Crossing! Any of the main ones, but not the offshoots.
I didn’t care to try out Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival. In fact, I never purchased the shitty Wii U system at all. I could’ve played HHD, but it looked lame too. No one I know liked it either.
Mirror - How many times a day do you tend to look in the mirror?
I don't look in mirrors all that often, but I'm not averse to them.
Basement - Is your basement used just for storage, or is it used as another room?
We don't have basements here.
Sports Jersey - What professional teams do you and your family root for?
No one in my immediate family is a big sports fan these days.
Dictionary - What was the last new word you learned and what does it mean?
I kind of rediscovered the word "grimoire" because of the Black Clover anime along with a lot of words based on the character names.
I think the last brand-new one was the name for Licht which means "light" even though there are several I've learned about now.

Madoka’s Birthday Party, ch 3
"Alright, everybody, settle down! Settle down... Hey, Kyoko! Shut up!" Everyone looked to Sayaka, and Kyoko stuck out her tongue. The blunette ignored it and continued. "Okay, so... Hitomi, your stomach okay?"
Hitomi nodded, though looked a little tired. "I'll be fi-"
Sayaka interrupted her. "Good, how about you, Kirika? How's your face?"
Kirika's forehead was still a little red from sliding across the ground, but she smiled. "Ready for battle!"
"Your face is ready for battle... okay... Well, now that everyone's ready-" Now Sayaka was interrupted herself.
Kyoko spoke over everyone else. "I'm fine too, thanks for asking!"
Sayaka adjusted the collar of her shirt. "I didn't ask. Anyway, it's time for the next event. Everyone, please follow me!" Regaining enthusiasm, Sayaka marched into another room, with the others following her. "If you'll all notice, this room contains many features that you've already been enjoying at this party, such as the couch, some chairs, a stuffed... frog... okay, but you'll also see that there is indeed a television affixed to the wall. This will be the point of focus for the next event! If you'll notice, there are three game controllers on the floor in front of the television!"
The girls noticed, and most quickly began envisioning having three arms.
Mami, on the other hand, went wide-eyed. "Oh my God! You have a Nintendo 64!"
Madoka cut in. "It belonged to my dad!"
"Belonged?" Kyoko wondered.
Madoka corrected herself quickly. "Belongs!"
Hitomi questioned Madoka. "Why are you being defensive about owning a Nintendo 64?"
Madoka shook her head. "I'm not being defensive!"
Sayaka nodded, agreeing with Hitomi. "Yeah, you kinda are."
Madoka looked pleadingly to Oriko. "Help me, I have no idea if owning a Nintendo 64 is good or bad!"
Oriko shrugged. "I dunno... Kirika has one."
Madoka whimpered. "Now I'm even less sure..."
Sayaka put a stop to the confusion. "Regardless, we are playing on that very same ancient piece of gaming technology! The game of choice is none other than the very best video game for playing at parties! Mario Kart! We have nine players, so we'll be going in groups of three! First up we have Madoka, Kyoko, and Oriko! Next will be Mami, Kirika, and myself! Then we'll have Homura, Hitomi, and the runt. The three winners will compete in the final round to determine who will wear the crown! Who will be the queen of Mario Kart!"
Yuma kicked Sayaka in the shin.
By the time the blunette had finished hopping around on one foot, the first round was already beginning. Sitting in the third player spot when selecting a character, Oriko was already on Princess Peach. Madoka looked dejected when Peach was no longer an option, but quickly jumped on selecting Yoshi instead. Kyoko went for Wario without a second thought. Looking over all the available races, Kyoko pounced on Wario Stadium before anyone could stop her. Just as the race was starting, Kyoko's face of glee dropped into a look of morbid terror at the realization. Madoka had this game in her house, and Oriko's best friend had one as well. They were likely both experts at the game.
The game started and Kyoko was left in the dust as Madoka and Oriko sped away. The entire race went by with Kyoko getting progressively farther behind. Madoka and Oriko consistently avoided all the items Kyoko got, and managed to stay practically tied with each other through the entire race. On the second lap, Kyoko found herself being lapped already by the other two. They were on their third lap. Madoka and Oriko sped off, heading up the ramp to the large jump.
The sound of Homura clearing her throat caught Kyoko's attention. Looking over, Kyoko saw in Homura's hands a crisp new ten thousand yen bill. Homura nodded suggestively. Kyoko understood. Looking back to the screen, she saw the green shell in her inventory. She may not be able to win, but by golly would the winner have her to thank. For a bonus, she could make money off of this. She just had to hit just this once. The green shell flew, striking true and sending Oriko flying and falling through to an earlier part of the track. Madoka made the jump, landing safely on the other side.
Acting as a rear guard, Kyoko stayed right behind Madoka until the end of the race, only to then realize that she was still a lap behind Oriko. She wailed in despair as she was smashed by a lightning bolt. A moment later, vengeful Oriko ran through her while shining with the power of a star. The race ended in a humiliating way for Kyoko, but she took consolation in her profit.
The next three jumped in eagerly. Kirika was quick to choose Donkey Kong, and Mami picked Toad. Sayaka chose Luigi, thinking that she related to the man in green somehow. With the same enthusiasm Kyoko had shown before the previous race, Kirika selected Banshee Boardwalk. The race begin and all three shot off. The first turn came and the difference between the player was obvious. Sayaka bounced off the wall, but kept going fast, while Kirika sped around the turn flawlessly. Mami hit the wall head on, not turning in the slightest.
Mami looked down at the floor. "I don't know how to turn." She remained in that spot for nearly the rest of the race, only escaping her predicament when she figured out how to reverse.
Already knowing she shouldn't have chosen Luigi, Sayaka found herself too far behind Kirika to hope for a win. Luigi is always second. Kirika, who had played this game every day of her childhood, was driving perfectly right until the end when, in front of her, she saw Mami going in reverse across the finish line. They slammed together, Donkey Kong's weight sending Toad flying. Unfazed by the impact, Donkey Kong soared across the line, winning the victory for Kirika. Sayaka passed in a measly second, but she was glad her loss was not as humiliating as Oriko's.
The third race began. Hitomi had chosen Peach, Yuma had chosen Mario, and Homura picked Bowser. The race selected left them all a little confused, as only one knew what they would face but had feigned ignorance. Hitomi had been to Madoka's house before. She knew what Toad's Turnpike held, and should have known better than to try navigating the never-ending onslaught of oncoming traffic. Her plan came crashing down on her as a large yellow bus smashed her less than two seconds after the race started.
Yuma took the lead, though mostly out of sheer luck. Homura kept a close second, out of sheer desperation. Hitomi only lost ground, unable to steer clear of the monstrous vehicles that seemed to aim for her. Nearly half the way through the third lap, Yuma lost focus on the purpose of the game and decided to try following behind a white car. While she succeeded, not crashing or hitting the wall, her speed fell and she never noticed when Homura passed her moments from the finish in a burst of mushroom speed.
With the three races over, Sayaka took to announcing the final round. "Now our winners will compete on the most obvious course made for victory, Rainbow Road! And our winners are Madoka, Homura, and myse-"
Kyoko hit Sayaka over the head with a stuffed frog. "You lost, damn it!"
Sayaka fell over, mumbling from the ground. "I meant to say Kirika."
The race went about as expected. The three girls had returned to their chosen characters of Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser. While all were moderately deterred by the chomping creatures that chased them down the track, Homura predictably used every item she could get her hands on to keep Kirika behind Madoka. So strong was her determination that her aim was perfect. Her tactics were flawless. Her motive was questionable. Madoka would win.
The race went about as expected, until the beginning of the third lap where Kirika, still managing to stay not far behind, let out a mighty roar. "DESPERATE MEASURES!"
Immediately after crossing the line, reaching the third lap, Kirika hit the steep hill and pulled the right trigger, causing her kart to jump. Swerving to the left at just the right moment, time seemed to stand still for everyone as they watched. The kart flew into the blackness of space. Just when Homura's face began to show a grin of true victory, voices rose in a great cheer behind her. Kirika landed, safely across the abysmal void, on the other side of the track. Homura turned blue. True to form, Kirika was now well out of reach, thus making Madoka's victory equally out of reach. Homura had failed. Again.
After that, the win was assured. Kirika took the victory, and the even ended. Madoka, and all the others, cheered and praised the winner.
Finally snapping out of her trance, Homura stormed over to Kyoko. "Give it back."
"What? No! I did what you wanted. You're the one who sucked when it counted."
Giving in and letting Kyoko keep the money, Homura turned on her heel and walked away, grumbling to herself. "Seems I've failed in this timeline as well."

Title Yoshi’s Crafted World Developer Good-Feel Publisher Nintendo Release Date March 29th, 2019 Genre Platformer Platform Nintendo Switch Age Rating E for Everyone – Mild Cartoon Violence Official Website
Sometimes we’re hardest on those things we love. I absolutely love Yoshi, as I have since the release of Yoshi’s Island. Which brings us to today’s review of Yoshi’s Crafted World. No matter how hard I try, I always feel compelled to compare each new Yoshi release not only to the one which preceded it, but the one that started it all. Which sets an awfully high bar, since no game has eclipsed the original, though Woolly World came the closest. But before we start comparing apples to delicious apples, it’s only fair to cover what Yoshi’s Crafted World does well, before we tackle what it does wrong.

Much like every other Yoshi game, Crafted World’s plot is the least important part of it. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its high points. Sure the premise is the same “Kamek does something bad, Yoshis go to stop him and Baby Bowser”, but the way it is executed has some charm. There’s adorable cutscenes that show the baddies scheming, as well as some almost claymation style sequences right before boss fights. As soon as you understand there is no mystery here, just a two dimensional motivation to get going, you’ll enjoy the game a lot more. And while the premise is certainly simple, there’s an air of childlike wonder to it all that makes it enjoyable for gamers young and old alike. In this game, Kamek steals the wish-granting Sundream Stone that, for some inexplicable reason, was left in the care of the Yoshis. Or rather, Kamek tries to steal it, and the resulting tumult sends the stones set into the artifact flying. Whoever can collect them and put the artifact back together first will be granted a wish, and you can bet Baby Bowser’s demands aren’t healthy. Thus, you pick your flavor of Yoshi and get started on this adventure.

As far as how the game controls, it’s pretty much what you expect. You can flutter jump, aim, ground pound and eat enemies to make eggs. I appreciated that there were a variety of control options, since the initial setup wasn’t what I wanted. Instead, I picked one that more closely resembled what I remembered from Yoshi’s Island. They really simplified the aiming, and instead of the reticule bouncing back and forth, it will just aim in whatever direction you want. You can still bounce eggs off things, you just will rarely have occasion to.
As a tried and true Yoshi fan, I went with Type B controls.
Like Woolly World before it, Crafted World is arranged with a distinct visual flair. Instead of yarn, this one is mostly about paper crafts, though there’s a huge variety of other influences. There are bouncing origami flowers, springy macaroons, giant magnetic soda cans and much more besides. In a weird way, aesthetically this almost reminds me of some of the Chibi-Robo games, with real world items making up strange landscapes. It’s all delightful to look at, especially since Good-Feel did their level best to make no two worlds the same, meaning there’s a ton of visual level variety.

Another way this apes its predecessor is that the levels are incredibly content dense. Besides finding all the Flowers, Red Coins and Heart pieces to 100% a level, they also have other ways to stretch out your playtime. And trust me, it can take a while just to find all those. Most levels I couldn’t find everything the first try, and many I’m still missing stuff after exploring them multiple times. You’ll also be able to play the flip side of stages, which is essentially just playing them in reverse. Though it’s cool to see the stages from another angle, thankfully they added something to make them a little more interesting. That special sauce are the Poochy Pups. Yoshi’s loyal hound has always been entertaining, but their puppies are even crazier. The little psychos run wild at the start of the flip side stages, and your goal is to find them all in a specific time frame in order to get rewarded with more Flowers. You have to find them and then hit them with an egg to make them follow you. Better yet, once they do, they act as a sort of infinite egg, and once tossed will boomerang back to you. As if that wasn’t adorable enough, when you flutter jump, they will hover as their little tails wag furiously.

Lastly, the other aspect that makes each stage a lot more extensive than you’d expect are the Souvenir hunts. You’ll come across these strange cardboard robots whenever you unlock a stage, and afterwards, they’ll have you find carefully hidden crafts in stages. Though these are optional, once you find them, you’ll be rewarded with even more Flowers. By now you’re probably wondering why you keep getting rewarded with Flowers. The good news is, they actually serve a purpose. They unlock stages, and the farther you get, the more you’ll need. I actually liked this feature, since I hate when you are forced to collect a bunch of items for no real reason in other games. Having said that, I wish getting all the Red Coins did something other than give me more Flowers. I would have loved if they unlocked extra stages or something similar.

While the general flow of the game is play a stage, get Flowers, unlock more stages, rinse and repeat, there are some elements that keep things fresh. There are what I call event stages. They all have some gimmick and a set point goal you’re trying to reach in a limited time frame. A good example is the Go-Go Yoshi stage, where you climb into a cardboard mega Yoshi and try and break everything in sight with a giant fist. Another is when you pilot a plane by running up and down its length, or guide a solar powered car by steering it into beams of sunlight. These are all good fun, and fairly challenging to boot. I’m glad they are there to keep things interesting, though perhaps the game could have used a few more of them.

One way Crafted World improves upon Woolly is with their boss fights. Unlike in Woolly World, here you never face the same boss more than once. Each encounter, whether against a main boss or mini boss, is totally unique, and challenging enough that you can’t get too cocky. Some of them are new takes on classic foes, like a giant Piranha Plant, but some are very unique and highly enjoyable. My personal favorite is the Gator Train, but the final boss also gives the one from the original Yoshi’s Island a run for their money. I just wish there were more boss fights, since in the SNES original there were a ton of them, and here there are only 5. That said, I’d rather have less bosses than rehash or uninspired battles. But with that in mind, I absolutely miss the Castle and Fort stages. Those did a great job of building up the tension until you reach the boss fight, whereas here, each boss fight is just its own stage that you unlock.

Visually speaking, this is a wonderful game and is dripping with creativity. There’s a lot of small moments of genius here, and each level is utterly packed with things to admire. My personal favorites were the Rumble Jungle, Ninjarama and Shadowville stages. One of which includes the first survival horror level I’ve ever played in a Yoshi game. And though I didn’t use them much, the many costumes you can unlock with coins in the game are a treat, especially the weird stuff like Cow Yoshi. One of my favorite parts visually were the cutscenes that occur when Kamek uses his magic to make each boss. These are totally trippy and I highly approve of them. Musically, Crafted World takes a hit. Much like in the last Good-Feel game, here the music is overly mellow and frankly underwhelming. There’s some variety, such as the music in the haunted mansion and ninja stages, but I just wanted a bit more punch. Seeing as how the original game had a bunch of wonderful tunes, I almost wish Good-Feel would just focus on the visual side and hire another team to do their music. Thankfully, the sound effects are all pitch perfect, which helps ease my frustration.

Thus far I’ve been mostly sticking to the positive stuff, but now I have to cover areas I felt the game could have improved. One involves the gameplay variety, which was overall a bit disappointing. I say that because mechanically speaking, Yoshi’s Crafted World feels a lot less innovative than Woolly World. In that game, there was constantly something crazy happening. Here they mostly play it safe, other than with the visual style. And while I do love the classic Yoshi’s Island mechanics, that game was also known for being very innovative and not resting on its laurels. In many ways, I feel Good-Feel played it safe with Crafted World. Sure, there’s lots of stuff to do, but doing it is mostly the same, and can start to feel repetitive. This goes double when you’re trying to grind through levels to find everything, which really takes a lot of the charm out of it. I don’t mind finding the basic stuff, but going through the same stage for the umpteenth time to find a deviously hidden souvenir started to wear on me.
Another minor frustration is with the egg toss aiming. Since each stage is 3D, even in 2D looking sections, aiming can be a challenge. You’ll be aiming down and might instead hit something in the foreground. This wasn’t game breaking by any means, but it was really irritating in the faster paced moving sections. More of a problem, at least for me, is that I really wanted more to unlock. Sure, each stage is dense, but besides what I’ve already mentioned, the only other things you unlock happen after you beat the game. You unlock a series of stages called the Hidden Hills, and it’s no exaggeration that these are brutally hard platforming challenges. Other than that, you’ll unlock a hide and seek character that will show up in every stage and challenges for boss battles, and that’s it. I really wanted something more, though to be fair we didn’t get much more in Woolly World.

In the end, I did enjoy Yoshi’s Crafted World, though that was never really in doubt. But unfortunately, in many ways Yoshi’s Crafted World felt like a step back from Woolly World, which in many ways felt like the better game. It’s far from bad, and even is challenging enough that I died a handful of times, but it just felt like it was playing things too safe. It might be better if I had tried the two player mode, though I tend to doubt that would have influenced me much. For $59.99, I do feel you’ll get your money’s worth, as I easily spent 10 hours beating it and many more trying to unlock everything. But your mileage may vary for how motivated you feel to unlock everything the game has to offer. If you’re a fan of Yoshi, I’d say it’s worth buying, but if not, you may want to try another Switch platformer.
