its so funny to get asked this knowing that I can't reveal too much about Neves without spoiling a bunch of things from my fic, despite that I would love nothing more to spill all her lore......what I CAN tell you is that she was sent to the Lands of the Old Faith for a very particular reason and she's kept safe by the Lamb for a reason too. She comes from a pastoralist/agrarian upbringing and spent the entirety of her life in this profession (hint hint). Livestock, land cultivation, and the demoralizing poverty in a society that does not value such work and considers it a degrading role for outliers! you know, the usual. She talks like a farmer and a butcher, which is how u get silly stuff like THIS happening when she's getting to know the Lamb and their Flock:

(She's talking like a butcher here, which obviously is off-putting for the Lamb, mostly because they can't quite gather context, and she does....make a lot of jokes like this but. She's just human you know!)

Neves is firm in her convictions and is stubbornly attached to the idea of her own righteousness. She's just too smart to be misled.

She believes herself above indoctrination, of course.

She has too much wit

too much rebelliousness

i cannot fucking overstate how much i love fcg’s reasoning for helping the gods btw. they don’t want to save them because they believe in them, though they do—they want to save them because, deep down, the purpose they’ve always had, always wanted to have, is to help. he wants to save the gods because they’ve asked for his help, and in turn, he believes that they’ll be able to help more people across exandria. he believes that if he helps, the gods will pay that favor back and help others too. and i just. dear god i love that. fcg recklessly and relentlessly chooses kindness and seems to have come back even more determined to do so after their detour in wildemount and i absolutely cannot wait to see it

you know, i can't actually see wangxian living an immortal life, but i can see them living the grounded, earthy, community-loving version of it

once they settle down in their happy little farm, after a few years, they start wanting something more. not different per say, just... more, so they mount a small little academy for the village nearby

it's not even a sect, just a school. by the end of the day the kids go back to their own homes, and wangxian go back to their own little duties, but they also have a training ground and a bunch of kids calling them "shifu!!!"

my initial idea was for it to be a cultivation school, and it might evolve into it but!! what if it was just a regular martial arts + literary academy. village kids come to learn how to read and write, and how to protect themselves. disciple, values, etc and if they want to, and if wx feel like they could... cultivation too. just the basics of it

Her lips curled up into a secretive smile. “What’s her name?” “I-“ Jon blinked. “I don’t know.” he admitted, embarrassed. “We’ll have to ask her when she wakes up.” Rhae murmured, stroking back the girl’s hair. Jon took her hand where it had fallen from the blanket, holding it in his own. “You can still go back, you know.” He didn’t respond. her skin was getting warmer as he held onto her hand. It was soft- smooth in a different way than his own scales. “Can I?” he finally asked, looking up at his sister. “You can.” She promised him, gently, walking over to press a kiss to his forehead. “I’ll tell father that I was the one who rescued her, and if she saw one of us, I’ll tell him it was me. You won’t be blamed.” “But-“ Jon shook his head. “But what?” his sister asked, perching next to the girl. “But then I won’t get to learn her name.” he said, rather pathetically.

at parent-teacher conferences this week, a parent told me that the other day, she was pointing out all the parts of her almost-two-year-old’s hands (“thumb, pointer finger” etc), and when she said “palm” he looked at her and said “grace! palm. ocean?” (ocean=lotion) because i help him put lotion on after we wash our hands and he has been practicing rubbing his palms together and his mom said she realized she hadn’t said the word palm to him before so i probably taught it to him and (explodes from it all)
