Statement
I wish to make a statement regarding what happened on the 14th of April, 2023
I, at first, wanted to move on from what happened and start again
But, seeing as some people aren't willing to let go of what happened, I feel I have no choice but to give my side of the story
I'll admit, I haven't been perfect in all this
I made mistakes
Many I wish I could take back, and would do if it was possible
But, whether I'm forgiven or not isn't up to me
That being said, however, the person who started all this in the first place isn't innocent either
I wish to address the accusations against me regarding, defending a transphobic person, racism, me fetishising trans men in my Perfectly Imperfect roadrat fanfic, and my conduct with minors, in that order
First, the accusations of me defending transphobic person
These accusations were first brought against me on the 14th of April, 2023, when user @sodapoptisms dug up a tweet from someone who said the following

They then followed up with a quote tweet saying the following

Now, I knew the person being screenshotted
I don't defend how they said what they said
Out of context, it's very poorly worded
What I DO defend is the fact that I took issue with Soda wanting the roadrat fandom to "band together and force the bigot out"
In other words, Soda wanted to rally a mob against this person for their political beliefs
I took issue for several reasons
The first one being like I said, I knew this person at the time
I knew they weren't anti trans rights
But forcing someone out for not agreeing with every aspect of the trans community can cause someone to become anti trans out of spite
Which brings me to my next point
I knew not speaking out against Soda could have a detrimental effect on the support for trans rights on the grassroots level
How?
Because this person had said they'd had many bad experiences with members of the trans community
Many people have sadly come out against the trans community for those reasons as well
Including many gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and even some transgender people
Clearly, bullying people for not holding your exact political views isn't working
And may actually be making things worse
That isn't to say that you win rights by coddling people's feelings
But you don't win people over by bullying and demonising them either
There is a balance that needs to be met, which isn't at the moment
You can't just demand people be your ally, then treat them like shit when they refuse, or don't live up to your standards
The second accusation I want to address is the one of racism
I was accused of this after writing an open letter to Soda shortly after what happened on the 14th of April, which no longer exists
But in it, I used the term Flying Monkeys to refer to the mob Soda had rallied against myselfand the other person
The term, Flying Monkeys, is commonly used as a nickname in pop psychology for the friends of narcissists
However, because Soda has many friends who are black, they twisted the words to accuse me of referring to them in a racially derogatory way
This was despite me pointing out the fact that I did not know Soda's friends were black, as even if they have that in their bios, I don't tend to read bios in detail, if at all. So, I was unaware unless I saw a photo of them
Thirdly, the fetishising of trans men in fanfiction
I never thought I'd have to bring this up
After all, no artist or writer should has to explain or justify why they made the choices they did in their works, but here we go.
Long story short, I tend to write stories with mpreg in it
You can think ill of me for it if you like, I don't care
But, I do not write these sorts of fanfiction for fetish fuel
I wrote Perfectly Imperfect for several reasons
The major one being that I have a lot of unresolved Daddy Issues
I won't get too much into my personal history, other than my father wasn't much in the picture when I was growing up
The few times he was in the picture, he was abusive
Not just to me, but to my mother, my sisters, & his previous two families, which he had left prior
I was estranged from him for eight years until I learned he had cancer, & I decided to reconnect with him two years before he died
I began writing Perfectly Imperfect a year prior to my father's death
Why use Mpreg to deal with Daddy Issues, you may ask?
The answer is twofold
I want to have my own family one day, & I tend to project that desire onto my favourite characters
I'm also fascinated with the father/child bond I guess
Particularly those that, while they may not be perfect, they at least are there for their child/ren, and don't abuse them
As for the fact that I've written Junkrat giving birth
That tends to be how a pregnancy concludes
But, I always focused on Junkrat himself, & what he's going through while giving birth
Such as his the pain he's in and how scared he is
How he looks to Roadhog for comfort
And how Roadhog helps him through it
It's about the emotion & vulnerability of the scene, in other words
Birth is messy, & can be gross, I can understand why many are squicked out by it
But it's a fact of life, much like death
Fourth, I'd like to discuss my supposedly inappropriate conduct with minors online
As many of you will know, I used to run Roadrat server. This server was an 18+ server, as I didn't feel I could, nor did I want the extra responsibility of, keeping minors safe within it
However, I would ask around to see if many people wanted to join, provided they were of age
As at the time, there was a content drought, & I wanted to keep the fandom as active as possible through it
Which I felt I could do through Discord
Unfortunately, not everyone has their age in their bios, which is fine
I understand not everyone feels safe showing people their age
But, it does sometimes mean I'm unsure, & have to ask about the person's age
This person there were a minor & then asked if they knew of any other Roadrat servers
I didn't really know of any that were as active as mine was a the time, so I made them an offer
They tell me when they come of age, & I'd let them into my server on the day
As you can see, nothing inappropriate took place, & the conversation pretty much ended after that
So, that is the context of everything that happened
Lastly, I want to address @sodapoptisms aka @sodapopblast directly
I'm sorry
I'm sorry I ever had the misfortune of knowing you and your friends
I'm sorry I ever thought of you as someone worth my time
I'm sorry I never saw how much you use your gender identity as a sheild to bully and harass people who step out of line
I'm sorry I never saw how much of a manipulative and cowardly bully you are
And I pity your friends who don't see you for the worm you truly are
It's because of you that I've had to endure being mischaracterised and demonised by your false & deliberately misleading accusations
For months
I've endured multiple accounts of abuse, and many death threats because of you
I lost my standing in the Overwatch community
All of this took a major toll on my mental health & general well-being
It not only affected my ability to perform my job as a care worker, which I was so scared I'd lose because of you
But also my self-confidence & and self-esteem, which I had painstakingly built up by writing my Roadrat series over five years
Only for you to tear it down in the span of one day
I used to hold such ill-will towards you for a long time
But that's only stooping to your level
You deserve to get better as much as I do
But the sad thing is, you probably won't
You're way too comfortable where you are right now, surrounded by your fandoms & your Yes Men
I doubt you'll find true happiness while you're where you're at
And that's enough for me

thinking about loki’s 400 year long stare at mobius when he says, “it’s about who”
and then how he looks at sylvie and says, “i can rewrite the story” and how she has her own story - without romance. how she told him to “write his own story” and how he’s now canonically god of stories/storytelling.
thinking about how if they make lokius canon, marvel’s first major canonically queer character will have “rewritten” the cishet centred narrative that a major audience is expecting and just how powerful that would be.
because, as much as i like the bisexual “confirmation” scene - it was very easy to look over if you’re a homophobic viewer or don’t know what bisexuality is. because they never had either of them say the words, “i am bisexual”. that and how they “dealt” with loki’s genderfluidity.
but a major gay couple?? with the healthiest and most intimate relationship i’ve EVER seen marvel write?? that would not be so easy to ignore. especially when you go back and see that it’s been there the whole time. if you knew what to look for. which, is honestly probably the queer vision in a nutshell. because cishets will be blind to anything if they see a man + woman option. they need “undeniable” proof. marvel knows that & it’s why they’ve gotten away with this. why they’re still “safe” for most of their anti-queer audience.
but just imagine, if loki fixes all this, get his friends back, and shows mobius know how he really feels and basically says “this has been the love story the whole time” THAT will be his legacy. in all the glorious i’m a god and i’ve been bad and i’m good and i’m queer and i have inherent worth just like everybody else and i don’t give a fuck loki fashion. and i hope to gods we get to see that.
that’s the story i want to see.
because if they turn around and give us sylki — (and in doing so say here’s a perfect example of a healthy gay relationship but instead we’re gonna give you a toxic genderbent selfcest romance) regardless of the fact we know they are both queer — that is not what a homophobic audience is going to see. they’re going to be satisfied that they didn’t see two men kissing on their screen and call it another win. and marvel would be continuing to encourage the idea that us queer fans are delusional - despite the clearly intentional writing.
not to mention the exhausting, intrinsically homophobic harassment & clowning lokius shippers have endured would actually not be for nothing if lokius were canon and marvel were to decide btw queer people are real and so are their stories and so is their love.
if the show about the genderfluid bisexual god of stories can’t accomplish that after all this character development then. idk.

on romcommunism, bisexual ted lasso, and the mumford-and-sons of it all
TLDR: this ENTIRE SHOW is about subverting expectations, expecting one thing and ending up with another, trying and trying and trying and ending up with something you never expected but is exactly what you need.
I've been thinking about this a lot, especially in regards to the amsterdamn episode which I think is the show finally 'coming out of the dark forest' so to speak, so I wanted to revisit the romcommunism speech and how it interacts with the theme song and with the other mumford references I see throughout the show, and why I think it points to a possibility of bi!ted, or at least, of a ted ending entirely different than what the majority is expecting it to be.
first off, as a reminder, the rom-communism speech from season 2 episode 5:
"If all those attractive people ... can go through some light-hearted struggles and still end up happy, then so can we. (...) Gentleman, believing in Rom-Communism is all about believing that everything's gonna work out in the end. Now these next few months might be tricky. But that's just 'cause we're going through our dark forest. Fairytales do not start, nor do they end, in the dark forest. That's something that only shows up smack dab in the middle of a story. But it will all work out. Now it may not work out how you think it will, or how you hope it does, but believe me. It will all work out. Exactly as it's supposed to. Our job is to have zero expectations, and just let go."
I've highlighted one of the most important parts of this speech for my analysis here, because when @stevecarrington and I were discussing it they pointed out where that sentiment comes into ted lasso again and again and again:
sound familiar? yup! it's right out of the theme song itself.
I have a lot of feelings about the theme song in general, but specifically the fact that it's... it's not exactly a sitcomedy theme. it's not actually a hopeful song on first read through, but it also kind of is. because one of the unfortunate and inexplicable truths in life is that it's pretty much assured that you might not get what you want, but, as the rolling stones and the season 3 trailer itself tell us, you can't always get what you want, but if you try some time you just might find you get what you need
I'm viewing this very much from a point of, Ted is going to find what he needs this season. he doesn't know yet what that is (winning the whole damn thing? moving back to his son?) but it's our job as the viewers to have no expectations, to not assume that things are going to work out in any specific way but that they will work out. and that you're going to keep trying, you're not going to know what to expect, and what you end up with may be something entirely different than what you thought when it started.
(kind of like having a giant bi awakening, no?)
I also have a lot of personal feelings about mumford and sons (and marcus mumford's) influences on ted lasso. I've started writing that post a hundred times but it's kind of a mess so I haven't posted anything (in the meantime, go watch the hopeless wanderer video, which exists because jason sudeikis is a close friend of marcus mumfords), but the one I come back to over and over is the song believe, and how the lyrics fit so perfectly into this romcommunism concept to the point that I think the entire central theme of the show is built off of mumford&sons lyrics:
and again. this drags it home so hard for me, on all of this. I could do a literal dissertation on what I think are other major mumford and sons influences on the show but this post isn't that. instead, I just want you to think about how the believe lyrics fit in with everything we're seeing. "your world's not all it seems" <- ted is not all he seems. he doesn't know if he believes yet, he needs someone who can "open up [his] eyes, tell [him he's] alive" and it needs to be someone who communicates openly, who talks to him
ted doesn't yet know if he believes. and he might not get what he wants (his marriage to be fixed, an easy relationship, an ending where everything is perfect), but he is going to get what he needs. he is going to try, and try, and we as the audience will go in with zero expectations and trust that it is going to work out.
I think different people will read this differently, but to me, it's a great subversion of the obvious idea that ted and rebecca are going to end up together. the cast has already said again and again that people seem to expect tedbecca to be A Thing, partially because they're both attractive, or they're both leads, because romcoms have trained us to expect this. ted is in a lot of ways some of what rebecca has been in need of, and there are some great posts about rebecca as the rom com heroine and what that means for her arc. but for me, the writers and cast saying that their relationship is strictly platonic, that they're brother and sister, is an excellent example of 'you can't always get what you want, but if you try you get what you need'. they might have some thoughts, they might start to think they'd be right for each other, and they are, but not in the way we might be primed to expect.
what ted and rebecca both NEED in each other is that confident. that platonic love and support that they're both craving in a lot of ways. sure, ted has some of that with beard, and rebecca has some of it with keeley. but their relationship, their connection, is so powerful to me from a platonic place, and this season is going to show them that's what they need from each other and always have.
and what ted needs is someone who can open up his eyes, who can, as mumford say in "white blank page" (which is also a very ted coded song):
he needs someone who can lead him to the truth.
perhaps... someone we might not expect? someone who built his career on finding the truth, and who destroyed it to do just that, to give ted the truth even at the cost of his job and the life he had built?
perhaps now that we've come out of this dark forest, we're going to start to see those expectations shifting, and we're going to see ted get exactly what he needs, even if he doesn't yet know what he wants.
(I want to be clear that I think you can also view this very strongly from the angle of 'ted does not need to end the show in a romantic relationship, he just needs to surround himself with love and truth and platonic support' and truly I think that's more likely to be what we actually see. I just couldn't help the tedtrent implications slipping in a little at the end here.)

Renarin Kholin- The Stormlight Archive

Renarin is one of few characters in epic fantasy literature who's canonically neurodivergent or queer - it's rare enough to just see one of those things! He is also the best, just all around. He is so reckless and has such a strong moral compass: like he ran to help fight a giant crab monster with no weapons, no armor, and no training; he jumped into a 4vs1 duel to help his brother, with no armor, no training, and a sword that deals him psychic damage anytime he holds it.
He's autistic and gay; disability is a big part of his story; he's so much of an outcast that he was the first person to join his world's extra-marginalized order of sinister-but-not-evil magic users; and while he's quiet and self-contained, he's full to the brim with suppressed rage. Sidelined second son and quasi-cursed prophet. I fully believe he can take this tournament by storm.
Renarin is autistic, epileptic, and queer as the day is long. As a kid, he struggled to win his dad's approval due to his inability to fight as well as his abled brother -- but these days his dad's wised up and realized that Renarin actually kicks ass. When Renarin gets magic powers, he isn't "cured"; he's still epileptic, he's still autistic, and he still has a crush on the strapping young alien lad in his squad. Not only does he break down class barriers by hanging out with ex-slave humans (he's the prince of a major kingdom), he breaks racial barriers by dating an alien who's entire race was, until recently, enslaved by humans. Overall, he's a complete badass who is getting more confident, more appreciated, and more gay with every book in the series.

she canonically has arthritis and chronic fatigue, and is canonically bisexual and omnigender (using all pronouns)
They're chronically disabled (dont remember their condition :() omnigender, and pan!
i don’t remember what it is (or if that’s even said) but his disability gives her trouble walking some days and on others makes it so they can’t get out of bed. bisexual &nonbinary omnigender!

listen. i love him. oh my god i love aer. their disability and queerness are both central to the narrative. due to it being disabled, she is not taken seriously where he comes from. xe has given up on insisting on its gender being respected - every time thon tries, its taken as a sign he is having a bad day symptoms wise, which in turn is taken as though she has never grown up past being eight years old. through the game proper, it hides hir disability most of the time. to ask for help is to let someone know. and throughout their entire life, everyone who knew has treated him as stupid - perhaps not always, but everyone has. this is why she doesnt really want to get out of the anomaly; this is the first time fae has had friends who dont know, and therefore dont have "a reason" to infantilize it. star hides everything behind a chipper demeanour. well, that demeanour isnt entirely a lie; she is really silly and pleasant - one of my favourite things he says in the entire game is "isnt blue super bad for computers? like blue balls of death or something?". upon being asked "where do you come from that computers have balls?", they respond "well, how do they reproduce if they dont?" in conclusion. Loam my beloved.

current events: drake vs future

how does drake see future?
drake thinks future is a very good example of someone who’s actually made it on his own, the true definition of “getting it out the mud.” he sees this success as partly luck (like he knows future has a lot of random unpredictable hits), he resents how generous future is and how much he wants to help other people - it’s like he sees it as arrogance, that future wants to play God or something, but this is out of jealousy, he’s mad he can’t be that way. he also hates that he knows future is confident and actually really loves who he is. he thinks future is materialistic and all about money, and will do anything to get more, like “i don’t know why you act like you’re better than anyone when you care about money just like the rest of us do.” he sees future as someone who is very cold and unforgiving. like he either likes you or he doesn’t, and it’s hard to win him over again if he doesn’t. he knows future can be vengeful. drake is definitely intimated by future.
how does future see drake?
future feels he sees right through drake in a sense that drake just can’t fit in with their peers (too canadian, too suburban, too nerdy) and that he’s fake because of this and constantly putting on some sort of act. he acts like he knows more than he does, and when he does actually know something he acts like he doesn’t because he doesn’t want people to know what he knows - a massive gatekeeper (even if it’s small like a cool restaurant he likes, he won’t let you know what it’s called until you see it in person because he’s the one taking you there) - no free knowledge. basically, future thinks drake is fake and never authentic, either playing dumb to acting smarter than he is. he thinks drake has decent social skills, but not enough to actually hide who he is.
he thinks drake is highly promiscuous, but in a gross way (and he also thinks drake is bisexual, but really weird about it), he knows drake is really passive aggressive and future has been letting it slide for a very long time, he thinks drake has been a major asshole to him in subtle and pathetic ways and future has genuinely not cared because he tries his best to not let things bother him (but also because he genuinely believes he’s better than drake). but now, he’s mad to the point that if drake ever wanted to squash this whole thing, any attempts at reconciliation or apologizing to future would just fall on deaf ears.

The Great Greta Garbo
Glamorous, compelling, and ever so famous was the iconic movie star, Greta Garbo. She graced Hollywood in the 1920s and 1930s with films like “Wild Orchids” and “The Kiss.” Altogether, she starred in thirty-three films and captivated men and women alike.
Greta was born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson on September 18, 1905 in Stockholm, Sweden and died April 15, 1990 in New York City at the age of 84 to pneumonia. Her childhood was that of poverty where her family lived in the slums. Her father was an itinerant laborer and didn’t earn much money to give his family the life he wanted for them to have. When Greta was old enough to work, she took various positions to help ease the strain of supporting the family.
One fateful day, film director Erik Petschler saw Greta and was mesmerized with her beauty after seeing her in a commercial advertising women’s clothing and he offered her a small role in his 1922 film “Peter the Tramp.” She was bitten by the acting bug and she started school at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm. She landed a major role in a 1925 Swedish movie “Gösta Berlings Saga” (The Saga of Gösta Berling). The director, Mauritz Stiller changed her birth name to Garbo as he felt it was fitting and becoming for her unique beauty. Seeing her potential, he negotiated with MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) Studios in Hollywood and secured her a contract. Louis B. Mayer had doubts about Greta’s screen performance until the release of her first American 1926 film “The Torrent.” Her lustrous glow and the fluidity of how she moved impressed Mayer so much so that he gave her an exclusive contract.
1930’s “Anna Christie” was Greta’s first sound film. The movie was marketed with “Garbo talks!” She would earn three Oscar nominations for best actress for her performances in “Anna Christie,” “Camille,” and for “Ninotchka.” She never did win, but she did receive an Honorary Academy Award in 1955. She won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for best actress for her performance in 1935’s Anna Karenina. Her last film was “Two-Faced Woman” in 1941 and it received bad reviews that greatly humiliated her. Her acting life halted despite offers for other films after the movie flop.
Greta never married nor did she have children. Her first romance was with her often co-Star John Gilbert. In her latter years, she had a relationship with Leopold Stokowski, conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra. It’s rumored that she had an affair with Russian-born millionaire George Schlee, stealing him from his wife. It’s specualted that Greta was bisexual, some would claim she was predominantly lesbian, but no one could confirm that. Though she appeared in events, she disliked the feeling uncomfortable acting like a socialite because it wasn’t who she was.
Greta would live the remainder of her life in a New York City apartment. She was an honored guest in the White House and She received treatment for breast cancer and would have dialysis treatment at a local hospital where she would later die from pneumonia. She will always be regarded as one of the most beautiful and graceful women that gifted us with her talent.

Why YOU should go vote for Electro (TSSM) in @cartoon-character-competition
First off this is like the first time I have managed to get Electro into a competition which is a CRIME in itself already
You may be familiar with Electro from the usual Spiderman comics or movies but trust me tssm Electro is the best Electro ever.
Like LOOK AT THIS GUY HE FUCKIN ROCKS, HIS DESIGN IS SICK AS HELL!!!!!
and well this guy has been through a lot. He used to be an engineer at Dr Connors lab where they were studying and experimenting on radioactive eels. (probably not a good idea but ok) And well well after a work accident, Electro (previously known as Max) goes from

and well while his new look is sick as hell, lets just say it makes just trying to function properly really REALLY difficult and after being frustrated about no one being able to help and facing the possibiltity his life may never go back to normal, he runs off fuming.
And what does one angry man just turned into living walking form of electricity do? Buy coffee of course
(this is how he looks fully suited up and with a disguise outfit on top btw )(which is why he looks a bit different here)
Anyways he realizes he cant even drink “a measly cup of coffee” anymore and freaks out, alerting peter parker who chases after him after electro freaks out storms off.
So what happens next?
- Peter attacks him thinking he’s a threat (he’s not hes just freaking out and pissed off)
- Realizing his mistake Peter tries to help but Electro now refuses and is ultimately defeated
- He’s sent to a mental institution to recover and it seems he had but nope as soon as he’s out he’s out for revenge
- He teams up with the sinister six, gaining both a mentor/father figure in Doc Ock (leader of the sinister six)
- Is defeated again and no longer pretends to try to recover at the mental institution when he’s sent back and looses faith in his new mentor
- Is recruited back into a new Sinister six and recovers that faith again in his mentor
- Once again defeated and is abandoned by said mentor figure and almost loses his life if it wasnt for Peter saving him.
- From then on he’s sent to an insane asylum and well I sure wish we knew what happened next
BECAUSE WE DONT BECAUSE TSSM WAS CANCELLED AT SEASON 2 WHEN WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET AT LEAST LIKE 5
so yeah not only is Electro’s story tragic, it doesnt even get a PROPER ENDING
but lets focus on the positives for a bit shall we?

first off unlike the other villains who dont mind whether you call them from their actual name or villain alias, Electro has a strong distaste over his old name. Angrily calling out people who dont refer to him as Electro.
Not only that but he’s seen and treated as an outcast. That is until joining the sinister six, a band of outcasts just like him where he’s even eager to join back.
Plus he just radiates trans swag (also a a majority of the tssm fandom has come to a agreement that yeah electro is trans and is in no way cis )

Also theres even subtle nod of him even being queer as when he laments on what he wanted to do before the accident, he says “you know i had plans before all this, go back to college, meet someone, have a LIFE”

so yeah I know this site loves the owl house and belos is a good villain and all but he’s a terrible, completely irredeemable, asshole of a person and cmon would you really let electro lose to a guy like that? After all the guy’s been through?

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY

1483 – Raphael, Italian Renaissance painter and architect born (d. 1520); Almost every Renaissance painter has been thought to be homosexual by one writer or another over the years, and Raphael, “the divine painter” is no exception.
The clues, however, may be purely coincidental in Raphael’s case. As a young man he was exceedingly beautiful. As an adult he lived together with his two favorite students, Giulio Romano, reputed to be bisexual, and Gianfrancesco Penni. When he died at 37, he left the larger part of his estate to the two young men.
1618 – The Memorandum Of Valverde is a little- known but significant legal text, preserved in the National Historical Archive of Spain. It's been dated to April of 1618 and was sent by twelve residents of the village of Valverde de Alcalá to the governing Council of Castile .
It lists charges against the master of the palace, a Gonzalo Martel de los Rios, of noble origin and probably linked to the major houses of the Spanish aristocracy. He held the lordship of the town. The document lays out a rather detailed set of charges against the Lord, "offenses" committed both by the Lord and by his servants. He and his servants are charged with committing homosexual and "unnatural" acts and with "blasphemy" against God. The neighbors of the Lord called it heretical and insane what the Lord was up to with his servants in the palace.
No one knows what happened with these charges or what happened to the Lord of Valverde. The Lord's reported comment in response to the charges:

1903 – Charles R. Jackson born (d.1968); relatively little seems to be known about Charles R. Jackson considering he is the author of a well-known novel which is still in print, upon which a multi Oscar-winning film was based - The Lost Weekend.
Born in Summit, New Jersey, as a young man he worked as an editor for local newspapers and in various bookstores in New Jersey, Chicago and New York prior to falling ill with tuberculosis. Jackson spent the years 1927-1931 in sanatoriums and eventually recovered in Switzerland. His successful battle cost him a lung and served as a catalyst for his alcoholism. He returned to New York at the height of the Great Depression and his difficulty in finding work spurred on his binge drinking. His battle to stop drinking started in late 1936 and was largely won by 1938, the year in which he married. During this time he was a free-lance writer and wrote radio scripts.
Jackson is best known for his 1944 novel The Lost Weekend. Made into a critically acclaimed film by Billy Wilder starring Ray Milland in 1945, The Lost Weekend is a semi-autobiographical novel detailing a struggling writer's five-day alcohol binge. He also straggled with a growing fear that he was homosexual. As a youth, he and his brother had both been sexually molested by a local male music teacher.
But it is Jackson's second novel that is interesting to us. In 1946, he published The Fall of Valor, a novel exploring a married man's growing awareness of his homosexuality and his love for a young Marine captain. Jackson was married and appears to have had two daughters, but this novel has the earmarks of first-hand experience. Long out of print, this is a significant 'lost' gay novel of the 20th century, although it appears to have been a critical and financial success at the time.
Jackson was a binge drinker who recovered sufficiently to speak to others in large groups, sharing his experience, strength and hope. He was the first speaker in AA to openly address drug dependence (barbiturates and paraldehyde) as part of his story.
Jackson appears to have spent much of his life battling the twin demons of alcohol dependency and a homosexual nature he struggled to accept, and his intense, compelling description of homoeroticism and sexual obsession in The Fall of Valor has the authenticity of a first person narrative.
After relapsing into alcoholism Jackson became estranged from his family and rented an apartment in New York City that was shared with his male lover in 1965. He died in New York in 1968 after committing suicide, never having managed to defeat his alcoholism.
1955 – The acclaimed non-fiction filmmaker, director, producer, writer and editor Rob Epstein, was born on this date in New Jersey. Epstein has won two Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature for the films The Times of Harvey Milk and Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt. He has also won four national Emmy Awards, three Peabody Awards, two DuPont Columbia Journalism awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship and numerous other awards for his documentary films.
Epstein began his filmmaking career working on the 1978 film Word is Out: Stories of Some of Our Lives, a documentary about the lives of gay and lesbian Americans. Epstein answered an ad that read: "We are looking for a non-sexist man to work on a documentary film on gay life. No experience necessary, just insane dedication and a cooperative spirit."
In 1984, Epstein won the Academy Award for Documentary Feature at age 29 for The Times of Harvey Milk which he conceived and directed. After its theatrical release in 1985, The Times of Harvey Milk won numerous major awards including the Academy Award, the New York Film Critics Circle Award, the Peabody Award, and three Emmys for Epstein (as director/producer, co-editor, and interviewer), and went on to receive worldwide acclaim and distribution, showing at major film festivals, theaters, and on television on almost every continent. This film was selected by the UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Sundance Institute as a preservation project and a 35mm digitially re- mastered version of the film was released in June 2000.
In 1987, Epstein teamed up with filmmaker Jeffrey Friedman to form Telling Pictures in San Francisco, California. Their first film together was Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt, inspired by the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt on the Mall in Washington DC. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, Common Threads tells the dramatic story of the first decade of AIDS in America through stories of five individuals featured in the Quilt. Epstein won his second Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for Common Threads, which also won the Peabody Award and an Emmy for Bobby McFerrin's original all-vocal score.
Their next film, The Celluloid Closet, based on the book by film historian Vito Russo, depicts a 100-year history of homosexual characters in Hollywood movies. Narrated by Lily Tomlin, The Celluloid Closet had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, was featured at the Toronto, New York, and Sundance Film Festivals (at which it won the Freedom of Expression Award from the jury), and numerous international festivals, including Berlin, Tokyo, and Sydney. In addition to winning the Peabody Award and Columbia DuPont Journalism Award, Epstein and Friedman won Emmys for directing.
In 2000, Epstein and Friedman directed and produced Paragraph 175, a film that explores a hidden chapter in history: the experiences of homosexuals during the Nazi regime in Europe. Narrated by Rupert Everett, and filmed in Germany, France and Spain, Paragraph 175 had its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, 2000, where it was awarded the documentary Grand Jury Prize for Directing, followed by a European premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February, where it won the FIPRESCI (International Film Critics Association Award).
He and Friedman have followed these films up with "Howl", a biopic of Allen Ginsberg starring James Franco, Jon Hamm, and David Strathairn. Four short clips below.

1983 – Rick Cosnett is a Zimbabwean-Australian actor. He is known for playing the roles of Wes Maxfield in The Vampire Diaries, Elias Harper in Quantico and Eddie Thawne in The Flash.
Cosnett was born and raised on a farm in Chegutu, Zimbabwe. His family took part in community musical theater there, which made him interested in acting from an early age. When he was seventeen, his family decided to move to Queensland, Australia, in large part due to the land reforms in Zimbabwe.
Cosnett attended the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. He originally received a scholarship to study music but graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Acting.
Cosnett is a cousin of Hugh Grant. On 13 February 2020, Cosnett publicly came out as gay on his Instagram account.
1984 – A Louisiana appellate court overturns a man's conviction for exposing and fondling an undercover police officer. The court said that the state's law on indecent exposure requires that the defendant expose him or herself, not another person.
2010 – Playwright Terrence McNally weds Tom Kirdahy, 46, in Washington D.C. ceremony. During a small ceremony under a tree blooming with white flowers, Kirdahy read from a scene in McNally's play "Corpus Christi," in which a gay, Christ-like figure named Joshua marries two apostles:"It is good when two men love as James and Bartholomew do and we recognize their union," Kirdahy read. "Love each other in sickness and in health."
Kirdahy, a lawyer and Broadway producer, choked up as he recalled seeing the play before meeting the playwright. Actress Tyne Daly, who was currently starring in McNally's "Master Class" at the Kennedy Center festival, served as a witness at the sunlit wedding and read Shakespeare's Sonnet 116. Actors John Glover and Malcolm Gets, both starring in "Traviata," also looked on. The Rev. George Walker of the People's Congregational United Church of Christ presented them as husbands and signed their marriage certificate. It will be recognized back home in New York City. McNally's most recent play, Mothers and Sons opened on Broadway in March, 2014.

Yes! I do have more headcanons for the Burns family! So might as well just list them all out here.
Burns family headcanons
Charlie
Him and Woodrow are half brothers. Charlie's father is out of the picture, and his mom remarried and had Woodrow
Him, Ezra, and William Fowler were all friends throughout school
All three of them were born and raised on Griffin Rock
The three of them also created go karts one summer that they rode constantly around town. This was the start of Rolling Thunder
Woodrow and him would hike up to Griffin's Crest and camp every weekend. During the summers they would stay for longer on the trips
Him and his wife knew each other as kids but never interacted
He was in the Military during the 80s
He reunited with his wife in the military where she had become a scientist
The military also is where they met and worked with Optimus Prime
They both left the forces when she became pregnant with Kade
After leaving the forces he became a police officer and they all lived on the mainland for awhile
When he became a chief police officer the family moved back to Griffin Rock.
He tries to do at one on one dad time with his kids each month. The activities are typically based on which kid he is with
He has a guilty pleasure for watching old 70s and 80s sci fi movies and shows
Was a mess for a while after his wife died. While nothing major happened that he regretted, it still put a slight strain on his and Kade's relationship
He's just glad that the younger 3 were oblivious to everything that happened after their mother died
He was always the cook of the family. He learned when he was a kid and only continued to improve as he grew older
Chase and him both enjoy riding out to Blossom Vale to watch the stars

Kade
Main headcanon of course is him being trans, but I also see him as being bisexual
He came out when he was 9 and the family just moved to Griffin Rock. He started socially transitioning and besides for close family friends, no one on the island knows he is trans.
While he is an asshole at times, he cares deeply for his family and would lay his life down for them
He had a close relationship with his mother. She was his biggest supporter when he first came out
His mother dying in a fire was his main inspiration for becoming a firefighter
Has always been protective of Cody since he was born, but that protective nature only grew after their mother s death. He would constantly take time to make sure Cody was cared for when Charlie would work late nights
Never got to properly grieve his mothers death due to him being Dani and Graham's support system. But he would never let them know that
Blockbuster movies are his favorites, the Godzilla franchise being his number one followed by the James Bond movies (basically canon, but I see him as being a huge fanboy outside of what we see in canon)
Dani and Graham both used grimlins as a way to scare him. This led to several sleepless nights for him as a young teen.
In turn that meant he would take over comms for the night or stay in Cody's room watching over him
Was a trouble maker in late elementary and early middle school. Lead to a legacy with all of his siblings
Joined the sports teams in high school. Rugby and soccer were his best ones
Started doing firefighter training at 17 with the NVFC
Had several girlfriends and one or two secret boyfriends during highschool
Got into fights whenever someone was picking on Dani or Graham
Started working in highschool to help Charlie pay bills on their house
The family only moved into the firehouse once Kade had become a firefighter
Him and Charlie would get into arguments a lot of times after the other had gone to sleep. These arguments died down over time as Charlie started to move on past his wife's death
Their relationship is mostly repaired now, but if tensions grow there is the possibility of them getting into arguments again
Most of his ego is played up to fit a fearless persona he created
Past that ego, he is very well accomplished. He has several trophies from his time in sports, and he has progressed through his career a tremendous amount
Him and Heatwave both accidentally discovered that Cybertronian stomachs can handle human food in small amounts. So Kade sometimes will introduce Heatwave to different human foods to see his reaction. So far ghost peppers have had the funniest response
Always wins at Uno and is tied with Cody for Cards Against Humanity
Dani
Growing up with all brothers meant she became a lot more tomboyish as a kid and young teen
Would paint Kade's nails as a kid and still does to this day when its a slow night at the base
Was a fan of the first TopGun movie as a kid. This was her inspiration for becoming a pilot some day
Her and Kade constantly butted heads as kids, but it was always playful and there were never any hard feelings between the pair
Had a hoard of stuffed animals in her room. It was piled in a corner and one wrong move could bury you in them
I see her as bisexual with a preference for fem presenting people
And I feel like she would go by she/they pronouns
She owns dresses but wears them on the very rare occasion
She has an OG Tumblr account like the millennial she is
Speaking of Tumblr, she taught Blades how to use it
Her guilty pleasure shows and movies are romance vampire series. Kade and Graham tease her relentlessly for it
Mrs. Neededlander used to babysit her and TRIED to teach her how to cook. It never worked
She sent an application off to the real life TOPGUN academy. She's never gotten a response though so she has mostly forgotten about it
She wanted to become an EMT after Graham had fallen out of a tree as a kid and broke his arm. Watching the crew work is what sparked her curiosity about it
That inspiration was only amplified by her mother's death
Is always the one to win at Monopoly
Graham
Was picked on being the youngest up until Cody was born
Was diagnosed at a young age with autism
Both Kade and Dani were protective of him once he got into school. They both made sure that he would be safe from bullying
Watching what his mother and Doc Greene and wife did in the lab is what inspired him to pursue a STEM career
He narrowed it down to engineering after joining the robotics program in Griffin Rock's schools
Initially didn't think he would go into the first responder field, but after doing research into the different job opportunities, and seeing Kade and Dani go into the field, he decided to join them
He is also bisexual, but is demi aroace as well
Will completely forget to take care of basic bodily needs if he is wrapped up in a project
Boulder and him constantly stay up late tinkering in the garage
Almost flunked out of college because he couldn't handle being in person for classes. Once he switched to more online classes though, his grades sky rocketed and he graduated top of his class
Several times has fallen asleep at his desk in the garage, but always wakes up with a blanket around his shoulders or having been moved to somewhere more comfortable
Despite what his body type shows, he does have a fair amount of muscle from his work with heavy equipment

Cody
At some point in life he has looked up to each of his siblings
Kade, was when he was younger and constantly being babysat by him. His oldest brother was the 1st one he would see when he would wake up and the last person he would see before going to sleep. Due to this he was the first person Cody would come to when he was a child
Dani, he has almost always looked up to and has never really stopped. Her dare devil attitude helped to push him out of his shell as a kid, allowing him to be the extroverted person he is today. She is the first to propose something fun and crazy to him, which they then most likely see through with the plan
Graham, he looked up to during his time with Pioneer Scouts. Kade and Dani never really joined any scouting activities, but Graham nearly finished the entire scout program. While Graham doesn't really like it anymore, he is always up to talking with Cody about what he was doing in his troop
Of course though, being siblings, they all annoy the fuck out of each other
Prank wars are typically started by Cody
When he was younger there were times when Dani and Kade couldn't hug him when they got home. He was confused at the time, but growing up he realized why when he started to witness the rescues more
Completed all badges in the Pioneer Scouting program
AroAce but him and Frankie joke about being platonically dating due to people at school
Speaking of Frankie she is basically another sister to him. Its to the point where his older siblings will refer to her as their younger sister
Hopes for his own bot one day. However as time passes and they learn more about Cybertronian on Earth, that hope starts to fade
Honestly has no idea what he wants to do in life. Is conflicted on if he even wants to go into any first responder field
Starts out at college as a gen student, but soon switches over to animal based studies
After watching some Game Wardens in action while fishing with friends during college, he was inspired to pursue that job
Kept the fact he was training to be a Game Warden a secret from his family. Finally told them when he showed up to the firehouse in uniform
Him and the bots constantly sneak out of the firehouse to star gaze
He asks them about Cybertron, and what it was like before they left. This has actually helped the bots with homesickness
Blades is always up for teaching him about Cybertronian anatomy

There is a separate washer and dryer in the garage for work clothes specifically
The bunker has been expanded upon greatly since the bots arrived. There are actually bedrooms for the bots to stay in, and keep their personal belongings in
Whenever they have to drop grocery shopping or eating at restaurants to respond to an emergency, they can always go back afterwards and pick up where they were. The grocery store worker would hold onto their groceries, and restaurant workers will have their food in to-go boxes or have it remade free of charge
Optimus and his team were at Mrs. Burn's funeral in holoform

For this tournament, I'll make the choice of using a 20 - member bracket, of course. I am sticking to the regular 20 aminoacids for protein synthesis in eucaryotic organisms. The polls will have a time limit of one week. I want to allow plenty of time to get the posts spread around. The polls of the first round will be posted in a few days.

tyler seguin is really interesing because what if you got drafted to one of the biggest hockey markets in the us and you immediately start fucking it up by being late to team sanctioned breakfast so you get scratched and then oops you fuck the general managers wife and you win the stanley cup and party a little too hard so the guys in boston sit you down and tell you to gtfo so you end up getting traded to dallas and hockey's not really popular in the south and your team sucks and women online are obsessed with you and for some reason people think you're fucking your captain because you indirectly called yourself a queer leading people to believe youre bisexual like actually bisexual like came out im bisexual sort of way and people will believe this about you for the rest of time so u kinda encourage the allegations but also still have a reputation as a major slut and then some lady 10 years younger than you who is kind of stalking you hits you up and you have an on again off again relationship and she doxxes you but at this point ur ready to give up ur party lifestyle so you get married to her even though you post more about your dogs. and youre balding

Summary:
Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester have virtually nothing in common: they’re both from different countries (Cas would argue that Canada and the US aren’t that different but Dean begs to differ), they come from wildly different types of families, and where Castiel excelled at school Dean failed. When it comes to their social skills they’re also diametrically opposed: Dean is outgoing, funny and easy-going; Castiel is more of an introvert who likes books and still has to see any Star Wars movie.
In real life though, Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester are both professional soccer players with the same position in concurrent teams.
It would be complicated enough as it is, but Dean and Cas have also been a couple for several years, hiding their relationship from the public and homophobia in the world of soccer while living in Europe away from their families.
Can they make it through another season without cracking?

“OFFSIDE?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘OFFSIDE’?!” Castiel yells as the linesman waves his stupid little flag, indicating that the goal he just scored doesn’t actually count.
It was a fucking magnificent goal- the ball was coming from Balt on the left side and Cas managed to get rid of three defenders on his own before he put the ball right into the top corner.
A Novak special, if you will.
“It means we have one more chance to beat your ass,” a voice he knows too well fake-whisper next to him.
Castiel turns around and immediately slams into the body of his opponent of the day- Atletico Madrid’s number 11, the one and only Dean Winchester.
“Fuck off,” he says as he and Dean size each other up, both of their forehead coming to rest against the other.
Dean wears a black jersey, indicating that he’s not playing home today- despite the Santiago-Bernabéu stadium and the Metropolitano only being 15 minutes away from each other. Cas is wearing his favorite jersey- the white and gold one, his home jersey, sporting number 7.
Winchester flashes a smile at him, one of those cocky ones that make Cas’ blood boil. But right before he does something about it, the referee is standing next to them and firmly pushes Dean off Cas.
“Take a breather, you two, or I’m carding you both!”
Cas trots away, still fuming, but not wanting to add on to the pile and potentially ruin the night by getting a red card.
Half an hour later and the referee’s whistle signals the end of the game, with the win going to Cas’ adversaries.
1-2, Atletico takes the win.
Winchester scored twice.
Cas goes back to the dressing room angry at himself and the team.
It’s only two hours later when Dean and Cas, back in the apartment they’ve been sharing for several years in downtown Madrid, settle their dispute on the counter of their kitchen.
“I wanted to- ahh- punch you in the face,” Cas whines as Dean puts both of his legs on his shoulder, allowing him to hit that sweet spot right there inside of Cas. “Fuck, Dean-”
“Yeah, you did?” Dean smiles, that same cocky smile he did on the field. “I wanted to kiss you so bad, shame the ref interrupted us honestly.”
Cas can’t help the laugh that escapes him, right until it transforms into a whine because goddammit, Dean is too damn good at finding all the right moves to drive him crazy. The sound his cock makes as he pushes and pulls into Cas shouldn’t sound so hot, but neither should the way Cas can feel Dean’s heavy balls slap against his hole.
“I swear if you don’t bend me in half and fuck me like a man already I’m going to go insane,” Cas snarls, right before Dean kisses him sloppily, all tongues and teeth.
“Mhm, is that a request or an order, Novak?” Dean smiles against Cas’ lips as he pistons his hips faster into the warmth of Cas’ ass.
“I wanna feel it when I train tomorrow- ah holy shit,” Cas whines as Dean complies, folding him in half over the table and letting his cock drag in and out of Cas’ puffy asshole.
It barely takes them both a minute to come after that. Dean carries a half-asleep Cas to the shower and takes care of them both, before they head to bed.
Together, like they’ve been doing for four years since they both came to Europe to play soccer. Together, but not for the camera, for which they’re both playing the game of being enemies that hate each other.
But tonight, right before Cas falls asleep, the only thing he can feel is Dean, all warm and here against him. He brushes a kiss underneath Cas’ earlobe, that secret spot he loves so much, and hums an “I love you”, that Cas sleepily answers with a “me too” that barely sounds like something.
It’s been their lives for the past four years.
But Cas wonders if they have it in them to go on like this for a fifth.

You're good at sober analyses of political situations. Exactly how bad is the wave of anti-trans legislation and executive action going through red US states? AIUI there's several different things they are doing like restricting trans healthcare and banning LGBT books from schools. But we've yet to see how maximally prosecutors will try to enforce them, what the courts will say and how this will go down amongst the electorate?
The electorate is the easy part: if I understand the polling on this issue, they mostly don’t give a shit. This isn’t much comfort for trans people atm, but at least nobody is looking to ride a wave of anti trans bigotry into sweeping electoral success. It wasn’t always like this with lgbt issues—gay marriage bans used to be pretty successful at helping conservatives win elections.
Book bans are part of the perennial low-grade churn of American moral panics, and they’re bad, sure, but first amendment protections are strong in the US; banning books in schools is ultimately kind of a feckless move, because more severe bans just aren’t in the cards.
Missouri dropped its adult trans healthcare ban iirc bc it thought it couldn’t defend it in court; but bans on youth trans healthcare worry me more, bc teenagers having civil rights is well outside the overton window for some segments of the US population, and it bothers me when kids kill themselves. I do not know nearly enough about the legal landscape around this issue to say whether these actions will hold up to court challenges—certainly I cannot imagine SCOTUS coming to the rescue, but state courts matter a ton here.
All in al, I gotta say, the current wave of anti trans bigotry feels pretty bad! It sucks! Especially if you’re trans. Like gay people in the 90s and 00s, trans people are at least in the position of being randomly distributed throughout the population, making it more likely that, as more people come out, acceptance will grow broadly (and it has been growing, in line with LGBT acceptance generally). But trans people are fewer in number than gay, lesbian, or bisexual people, and as the example of the UK provides, the anti-trans backlash can be super toxic, and it’s already making ground in some supposedly liberal bastions like the New York Times, as many commentators have noted.
In the long run, I’m pretty sanguine—attitudes on these issues are heavily generational, and much more positive among Gen Z and millennials. But that’s not super useful in the short term, and I worry about the harm that will be done while this backlash is peaking. I am glad a lot of people have been pushing back, both against outright conservatives and also against mealy-mouthed concern trolling by supposed liberals on trans issues. Like gay rights, I think this can be partially settled as a political issue by demonstrating it is an electoral loser, because hope that this is (another) culture war issue that can stave off the decline of the Republican Party in its current form seems to be a major component of anti-trans state policy.

I absolutely love how his family is in front, then come his friends and the rest of the characters are on the side/background

Dick on the far right looks like he's flying and I love the symbolism on that

Nice to see Donna and Kory, the titan girls who have the closest bond with Dick being the ones leaning on him.
But why can't Wally who has an even closer bond with Dick on the current continuity be in the place of one of these ladies (don't care which one should exchange places with Wally). I guess they don't like portraying male x male friendships being intimate.
Also, I would exchange Gar or Vic ( or both) for Roy to be included. Sorry not sorry to stan Dick & Roy friendship.
