My favorite thing about the Live Action Atla is that people are finally realizing Katara was a well-written character. For years, she was constantly memed for being "too emotional" and "talks about her mom too much" and yeah there's a scene or two she says something completely uncalled for (you all know which line) but sometimes people lash out and say things they regret. Katara wasn't supposed to be perfect in the original show, Sokka wasn't supposed to be perfect, Zuko wasn't supposed to be perfect, and Aang wasn't supposed to be perfect. Now that the live action stripped most of the characters of necessary flaws needed to develop, you all see how hollow they are. Katara's fault wasn't that she was too emotional and that is evidenced by the charm of her character being nonexistent without those strong feelings. Similarly with Sokka's sexism he needed to get over (which happened quickly as a mercy for the audience and thank god). Similarly with Toph realizing it isn't weak to rely on others every now and again. Similarly with Zuko realizing true strength is having a strong moral compass and following it no matter the consequences.

Follow and obey the rules outlined by your [group laws] even at the cost to yourself #lawful good gets done so dirty in media (lawful stupid is usually what the result of trying to write such a character becomes)#but here? nah. LWJ’s severe lawfulness does get used for humour but it does *so* much more too #We get to establish a strong character basis for the fact *he stands by what he beleives in—unshakingly*#idk if anyone is out there saying LWJ moves alignment; cause I’d argue his code of law simply shifts to something (someone) else #regardless; i love this scene a lot for what it shows about lwj’s character and its also such a good character dynamic #oh I forgot to wish everyone a happy first day of spring (north hemmies) and fall (south hemmies)#may the change in season be a blessing B*) not for me though I have seasonal allergies #ramadan started recently too; Ramadan Kareem to all the muslims passing by this blog!

THRASHING TYKE (fairy/dragon) and IRON ROVER (normal/ghost)

so, as some of you may recall (since i asked for your input), i've been designing paradox fakemon !! i really like when new forms are given to middle-stage or under-utilised pokemon, so togetic and furfrou were easy choices.

thought it'd be fun to imply togetic took a while to get airborne, so thrashing tyke ended up being sort of an inversion of usual togetic qualities! and iron rover is, of course, inspired by laika (hence the ghost typing).

anyway, pretty happy with them for a first go at fakemon rendering 👍👍

it’s kinda funny to me how that dumb scene in kiwami 1 of majima getting shot and left for dead in the harbor was basically just added as a half-assed way to explain majima not being around for a bit of the plot, but they accidentally(?) just made it seem like start of a chain reaction where majima ended up feeling slighted and heartbroken after being abandoned like that and then lashed out about it via smashing a big truck into the building kiryu was in. and yeah that isn’t inherently a romantic thing as-is but then they go and add the part where majima grabs a hostess and performatively hits on her as in-kiryu’s-face as possible, she says she’s already in love with someone, and majima lets her go immediately, no questions asked, making a big fucking point of it just to say see THAT kiryu? I appreciate when people are HONEST about their FEELINGS. people who won’t just BACKSTAB someone who CARES about them to save themselves. is that so crazy kiryu?? huh??? anyway make it up to me get down here and fight me right fucking now

I mean. there’s a reason he was the only person who showed up to welcome kiryu when he got out of prison #and that’s because A) he sticks to his word and his loyalty to people he cares about and B) no one else had the balls or the batshit insane #mask to wear to ward off anyone asking real questions like majima did. because ANYONE associating themselves with the supposed #patriarch-killer was a HUGE NO-NO at the time. someone important showing up for kiryu and welcoming him back outright could’ve caused #all-out warfare probably. except majima. because majima was dedicated and smart enough to use his widely-feared wildcard persona #(that everyone tended to view as incapable of having any Real agenda to worry about) to his And kiryu’s advantage #does that make sense??? when, in heroes of olympus, we see percy knowing all about the monsters that he's facing and being able to guess what's really going on behind the scenes, it's implied to be due to his experience as a hero. like right after percy identifies a new monster that they have to fight, it's almost always followed by an anecdote about how he fought a monster of the same species and therefore knows how to defeat it.

however in the new pjo show, there's no room for percy to build his experience and develop as a hero due to his past exploits because we see from s1 ep1 that he already can identify what he's up against.

i understand that show percy has a great emphasis on learning the greek myths when he was younger and that percy has always been smarter than anyone gave him credit for, but let 12 year olds learn and get things wrong, let characters develop as heroes, because doing so doesn't take away from percy's intelligence.
