There is this whole idea that flipping a two sided coin doesn't have a 50-50 probability. It's not a new idea by any means, but the explanation is if you measured the mass of the coin, the force of the flip, the temperature of the coin & of the room, the force of any breeze, wind, or vibration in the air as it traveled, and so on, you could accurately determine within a small margin of error what side the coin will land on every time, and if you kept those constant it would flip on the same side every time. And that idea is also KIND OF the explanation for the conclusion in quantum physics that there is no free will.
A lot of people hear that and either clutch their pearls, roll their eyes, or aren't interested either way. (I mean, when you say some shit like that you're just going to immediately turn off any interest most people would have otherwise had but I'm digressing now). We all like to think we make decisions and choices, and then amateurs who want to talk about quantum mechanics alienate everyone by saying it's not true: you were always going to make these choices with no chance to make the other one.
But what I said in the first paragraph is something-like (but not exactly) what it means when you hear or read that according to quantum physics we have no free will. That if we had an unfathomable device that has been measuring all the variables of every single particle that was expelled during the Big Bang, with an also-sufficient/also-currently-unfathomable algorithm to plug those variables into, all within a computer that could do all of the calulations for BILLIONS of years, we could compute exactly where every particle was going and where it would end up, including those that make up the stars and planets, that make up the ground and oceans, that make up the animals and plants, that make up your brain and all of the proteins and neurotransmitters. That if it could all be measured and an algorithm sufficiently built then the decisions you make are already determined by the ongoing relationships and interactions the particles that make up your brain had in the past and are having right now.
However, humans cannot measure that, they likely never ever will.
Anyone that tells me they don't like quantum mechanics because something something affront to nature blah blah "they" don't believe in free will, etc. literally doesn't know it's just a rescale of the coin toss description. You still believe coin tosses are 50-50 because you aren't going to measure the variables used to receive an answer, you can still believe in free will because you can't measure the variables used to determine the ultimate path of all particles; I mean, I wouldn't become a theoretical physicist if that meant so much to you but I'm not your dad, do what you want.
Edit: I know I described the science mostly wrong, please check out the replies and reblogs for others' corrections and feel free to add corrections of your own for mine and others' learning, thank you.

Hello!! I'm a new fan of Danny Phantom, and I've been blasting through fanfictions. Your "The Phantom Martian" is one of my favorites and I was wondering if you gave up on it orrrr am I just impatient or missing something. Thank you for your time byyyyyyyyyye
Hi, I've been getting asks/DMs/messages/etc, and I just want to clear up for those that missed that I recently started a new job and a week or so after received news that one of my family members very likely has cancer and will not be receiving chemo. So I both had to adjust to my new work schedule (which I love!) while also dealing with unfortunate family matters at the same time, and I'm often very emotionally/physically spent at the end of each day and haven't been in the headspace to write funny fic. Please be patient a little longer while I do my best to juggle this—thank you.

Today on "Another JeanMarco Soulmate AU absolutely no one asked for" I present to you -
Soulmate AU in which you stop seeing colors when your soulmate dies, the only exception being your soulmate. Now cue to Jean who just found Marco's, his best friend's, body. And you know, there's the shock of finding out Marco's dead. The pain and confusion and guilt. But there's also the revelation, because despite everything he can still see Marco like nothing took place at all- yes, half of his face is missing and his body is straight up lifeless, but Jean can still make out the color of his eye ; see that light shade of brown perfectly, remember all the times he has found himself looking at them while listening to Marco talk. He can still make out the colors of his uniform, see the same shade of black his hair has always had, practically see. Despite being dead, Marco was the only piece of color left in his life.
And there's denial for a moment because there's no way Marco was his soulmate. But that goes away fast, getting replaced by guilt. By the fact that he hasn't been there to save him, that Marco has to die all alone without anyone being there for him.
And that was worse than the simple fact that he could no longer see colors ; because Marco was there when Jean needed him, but he failed to do the same. And not only he lost his best friend that day, but his other half too.

Random thing I literally just thought up, but what if Golden Cheese was like, stuck in a sarcophagus?
Like, someone tricked her/overthrew her (maybe Cheedas?) and put her in the sarcophagus, telling her subjects that she died, and then making it so that no one will ever release her (maybe they put it in a tomb that’s littered with traps or something)
However, because of her Soul Jam, she can’t actually die or something, so she’s just stuck in this coffin with no clue where she actually is and just has to wait for someone to come and release her. She’s been stuck there for several years now and at some point she just like, fell into a coma or something because while she can’t die, she still hasn’t been eating or drinking and hasn’t moved in years, so her body’s pretty emaciated
So along comes Gingerbrave and friends, looking for Golden Cheese, only to find she apparently died. However they eventually hear word of where her tomb is and/or that people are suspicious of how exactly she died, and so they go there to see things for themselves. They eventually find her sarcophagus and think she did indeed die. Then someone accidentally opens the sarcophagus and her body falls out, which no one really wants to move, only for her to suddenly wake up and surprise everyone
I dunno, I just had a thought of Golden Cheese going “I was stuck in a sarcophagus for 50 years, I have no clue what’s going on”
Also I think some of her concept art has a sarcophagus, or at least what looks like one

I know it might sound crazy to praise fortnite of all games on its accessibility, but god the audio wheel allows me to actually hear in the game. I can actually "hear" the smaller sounds I normally can't. I can not only hear them but know where they're coming from and play the game the same way my friends without any hearing problems do. I'm not left frustrated over not knowing someone was right next to me and I couldn't hear them because of my hearing impairment. I just wish more games had this kind of audio setting for hearing impaired folks because the shift from actually having fun and being decent at fortnite to not being able to discern where people are in the finals is so drastic it's not even funny. I unfortunately don't have a proper diagnosis or any sort of help for my hearing yet so this is the only way I can help myself play these games. I wish more games would consider disabilities other than color blindness when making their accessibility menu.
