vanessa’s original plan was to bike over to eli and julian’s to participate in their weekly game nights. those consisted of them playing monopoly until peak chaos was reached followed by an intense game of scrabble that ultimately left ness and ei in the dust while vee and julian rubbed their dub in their face. it was a good time, which is why the girl was ecstatic to get her ass over there, even taking some home baked treats ( brownies, specifically ) to share with everyone else. those plans were derailed, however, about two blocks from their apartment when ness was suddenly plagued with one of her visions. it caught her mid pedal, causing her to lose her balance and clumsily fall off the bike. she saw the same room she’s been seeing for the past few weeks, felt how cold and cruel it was. each time she’s transported into said room, there’s a different girl there. every. time. without fail. at first vanessa was afraid that more of mayer’s victims were reaching out to her, begging to be put to rest. that theory was quickly dismissed after confiding in eli about the whole thing ( 'cause duh. why wouldn't she tell him? ) he had confirmed that once lana K.O.’d her psychotic, axe wielding, maniac of a father, all of his victims had been freed. allowed to cross over. a relief on her end, since each time she closed her eyes all she could see was brutally murdered women. this gift of hers could be a real pain in the ass.
had picked herself up off the dirty ground, wincing as she felt a sharp sting coming from her leg. looked down and surprise, surprise: she had the nastiest cut right on her knee. prevailed, though, walking ( more like limping ) alongside her bike the rest of the way. secured it on the designated rack in front of their apartment building, taking her brownie filled tupperware with her. now that she’s on the other side of their door, she’s rethinking the reason for her visit as most recent vision constantly replays in her mind. two girls now, instead of one, sitting around in that concrete room. there’s a reason why she’s been seeing the same setting over and over. this is no longer just a coincidence. so lost in her thoughts that she jumps when the door swings open and a wide grinned elijah sutton greets her. “ er, you got a bandaid? or… a whole emergency room back there? ” jokes, putting her leg forward to show him her injury. “ it looks way worse than it is. i swear. ”
