Kristen's crystal starts ringing. It's an unknown number. 😭✋

Kristen: "Hello? You've reached presidential candidate Kristen Applebees." 😭✋

Tracker: "Hey, Kristen."

Kristen: "Hey, Track. Tracky?"

Tracker: "Hey, I'm really sorry to call. Ragh texted, and I just wanted to check in, and I sort of promised somebody that I would sort of have an answer today, so..."

Kristen excuses herself to talk on the phone

Kristen: "Okay, what's up? What kinda answer are you looking for?"

Tracker: "So, there's someone here in Fallinel who I am spending time with who has requested that I be public about how we feel about each other, and I've said no for a long time because..."

Brennan: "And here, you hear a pause that you can read into with an insight check, if you want."

Kristen gets a 27 insight!

Brennan: "On a 27, she is pausing to give the reason why she has not declared this relationship publicly. The real reason, she thinks, would hurt your feelings, so she's not saying it."

Tracker: "And I told her that we should delay because...[pause]...you know, I just wanted to be respectful in terms of the time window, and in terms of everything else."

Brennan: "And this is what you know is maybe not a lie, but not the deep truth."

Tracker: "So the answer doesn't have to be yes, I just promised that I'd give her an answer today. The answer can be no, if you're not comfortable. But if the answer is no, there probably is an amount of time where it will be one necessary for me to, like... If there's a window that you feel is respectful for me to not say publicly that I'm with somebody-"

Kristen: "Oh, you're asking for my permission?"

Tracker: "I don't wanna hurt you."

Kristen: "Oh. Well, honestly, you're catching me at a really hard time. Cassandra shattered into a million pieces after choking on a shrimp, so..."

BRENNAN! DON'T SMILE AT THAT! PLEASE! 😭✋

Emily: "I don't think the shrimp was that big a deal." 😭✋

Kristen: "Mostly she just choked on a shrimp. Actually, we were really up. We were about to win everything. And so I don't know if I'm in a, to be completely honest, a mental headspace to answer your question. But that doesn't mean that you even need my permission. We're broken up."

HIIII Y'ALL!!!!!!! this is honestly very insane to me but i recently hit 1k on here, so i just wanted to say thank you all for being here and joining me on this fun ride over the past two years since i made this blog. i feel like i've joined the hsmtmts/specifically rina fandom three separate ways/times and i've always been able to easily find my niche of people, which really speaks to how open and wonderful this community as a whole is. this third time around was no exception, this little subsection of some of the nicest, funniest, smartest, most talented, most supportive people ever means the world to me, so thank you all for following and partaking in all of the fun that was this rollercoaster of a show, and thank you for supporting my relentless content creation bc i am most definitely not stopping anytime soon skdjfks 😭 this milestone perfectly coincided with the show's ending since i hit it on the day of s4's release, so i thought it would be fun to celebrate both my little milestone & the ending of our beloved show (and our many major wins) with you all, the lovely people that have made this time with the show as wonderful as it was! this show, these characters, and you all hold a very special place in my heart, so. let's celebrate it all!!

2. Work you are most proud of (and why):

hmmmmm, that's a tough one! I love them all for different reasons, but I will say I'm very proud of Long Is the Road Out of Hell because it's my longest fanfic to date (almost 60k!) and at one point I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish it. but I did!

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

tbh if I'm not proud of something, I won't publish it. but I think the work that frustrated me the most was Whiskey & Wine, my kinktober fic. I pushed myself too hard with too big of a goal and burnt myself out halfway through. but I did learn the importance of setting boundaries for myself (and why I need to be careful committing to challenges 😅)

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

not gonna lie, once I publish something, the words tend to leave my brain, so I don't always remember what I write lol. I should probably keep a doc of good lines from my fics so I have something to present when people ask me 😂 but here are two excerpts that I'm pretty proud of.

Devil in the Woods: He had loved her since the first time he opened his eyes to find her snuggled up on his chest. He had loved her longer, since the moment he’d held her in his arms on that endlessly rainy night. And longer still, he’d loved the little girl who played jacks with him on May Day and laughed at his wild antics.

Hooked on a Feeling: He knew he could be… a lot, as kinder people said. A goddamn nuisance, according to everyone else. He didn’t mean to be, he just tended to… latch on to things. Kind of like a bulldog (but in a nice and lovable way, thank you, Jeff). And right now he had ChrissyChrissyChrissy clamped tight between his jaws, and he hoped to god she didn’t ask him to let go.

5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:

I have a few regular commenters who give me the longest, loveliest comments where they literally analyze each chapter section by section 😭 it makes me feel so loved. but as for one individual comment, I distinctly remember a commenter from one of my early fics commenting on a really tough scene I did re: chrissy's eating disorder. they said that they also had an eating disorder, and that chapter was very healing for them. I don't think I'll ever get another comment as powerful as that.

6. A time when writing was really, really hard:

I go in and out of mild anxious/depressive episodes, mostly due to outside stressors, and that makes it really hard to write. writing is the one constant joy in my life, and when I don't even feel like doing that, I know something is very, very wrong. but luckily, they don't usually last too long!

7. A scene or character that you wrote that surprised you:

mike's redemption arc in Long Is the Road! that one was a total curveball to me, and it only came about because it was the closest place I could think of to have Chrissy walk to after her mom kicked her out. total accident, but it spawned on of my favorite sibling-ships for chrissy that I've ever written!

also writing wayne's pov! i never intended to do that, but once I started, his voice just kind of stuck in my head 😂

8. How did you grow as a writer this year:

I wrote a lot. like over 300k of fanfic. and i even got back into writing some original fiction, which I'm so excited about!

I also started writing smut for the first time in 2023, which was something I never anticipated doing, let alone enjoying! but it's been super fun

9. How do you hope to grow next year:

I'd like to work more on my original fiction, maybe get a short story published. I'd also like to get better at world-building! I tend to get so focused on the characters that I forget they exist in a place I should spend some time creating lol

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

@slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction all the way! she's been such a wonderful beta reader, cheerleader, and overall positive influence on my writing. I Can't Get Rid of You wouldn't ever have happened without her support and feedback!

11. Anything in your real life show up in your writing this year:

ooh, buddy! pieces of myself get sprinkled all over the damn place 😂 but as for specifics...

Galentines and Valentines opening scene was reminiscent of the girls' nights me and my college friends used to have (and still have sometimes)

Hooked on a Feeling had elements of my own past experiences of being laid up in a hospital (and being very annoyed about it)

This Old Man was absolutely inspired by my love of Columbo

You Got Me Good definitely included some of my own thoughts and feelings about when I get a little too high 😂

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

give your writing time.

it's so tempting when you have a new idea to jump on it and then get frustrated when it doesn't immediately turn out the way you want, but I've found that if I give myself time to think over a piece before I write it, and let it sit for a little while after I write it, I'm much happier with the end results!

13. Any new projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

finishing my three WIPs! and hopefully a little christmas fic 😂 I don't have anything else immediately in the works, thank god!

Perhaps it’s my bias talking, but honestly why does it feel like the higher ups don’t care about Polin season??

Obviously they couldn’t help the writer and actor strike but even before then it felt like they weren’t prioritising it. They threw everything at Queen Charlotte & it was obvious that it was Shonda’s baby. Everything official so far has been leaked before posting…. The main couple of the season were sidelined during the Valentine’s Day press event, and they kept mentioning Queen Charlotte, interviewing Adjoa and Golda [no hate towards them both] & mentioning season 4; & that’s not mentioning the sheer hate that Luke & Nicola have had to put up with.. the comments I have seen are just…

I can’t speak for the other season promos bc I wasn’t really apart of the fandoms then, I was more of a casual watcher (I also watched QC months after it was released) so I can’t really say if it seems like they’re neglecting polin, but from even just a casual standpoint I don’t really get the strategy they’re going for by not releasing many things and only giving us tiny teasers to go off of. I appreciate the small clips we’ve had so far tho don’t get me wrong! I think we’re lucky in that regard to get even snippets of the first episode since many shows wouldn’t even think to do that or want to do so.

However I think Netflix’s promotion of its main actors, from all seasons from what I’ve gathered, has been abhorrent every time, so I assume it’s more a Netflix issue than a Shondaland or other production if that makes sense.

I could also just be talking out my ass majorly so take anything I say with a grain of salt anon 😭.

#I do also think ppl were a bit dramatic in saying it was absurd of Netflix to announce the air date in Dec. when it was 5 months away #and the reason being ppl had to wait two years already so why announce it five months ahead of time #which… I didn’t agree with that viewpoint simply bc that’s just how production it shows work #especially if there are strikes involved towards the end of production and all of that #so I didn’t really see the uproar in all of that but maybe that’s just me #bridgerton #polin #bridgerton season 3 #bridgerton s3 #colin x penelope #penelope x colin #colin bridgerton #penelope featherington

Haru and Joucho released a duet! If I didn't know any better I would have thought it was Valentine's Day, not a random day in December! The flower field turning from blue to pink doesn't help 😭. Call was produced by Onuma Parsely, it's a different genre than what Haru and Joucho usually sing. It really does remind me of Koko's songs that are also produced by Onuma Parsely. It's a nice upbeat song that fits their radio! I haven't been able to watch or understand much of their past radio episodes, but from the clips I have seen it feels like they always laugh when they are together. I love the lyric where they sing each other's name, it makes the song feel so much more personal to them. Also, I have to point out how much I enjoy Issikii's illustrations of them, I was excited for this just by seeing the thumbnail. While watching the MV, i'm laughing at this one comment that's congratulating them on their marriage.

Kristen: "Okay, yeah, Riz, you're the only one who's honest with me. As my campaign manager, was that good?"

Riz: "No, I mean-"

Kristen: "You started to say no."

Riz: "No, it's...I think we all need time, right? We all need-"

Fig: "Okay, before we take time, Kristen, you're a cleric with an Instagram promoting a god, and then someone suddenly wants to put their face in your platform with which you gather followers? Doesn't that feel like someone's making a power grab? Who's this person that she's seeing?"

Ally: "Can I go online and see if she's already posted the thing?"

Brennan: "A brand new post, up within a minute of you hanging up."

Siobhan: "So she'd already had it written out."

Brennan: "Already written out."

Ally: "Saved to drafts, all right."

The post: "Princess Naradriel of Fallinel is such a meaningful addition to our family here at Wolfsong. As the scion of this house of elves..."

Adaine gets a 21 on a history check.

Brennan: "Naradriel's family comes from a family of moon goddess clerics within the high elf culture of Fallinel."

Adaine: "Oh, that Naradriel."

Siobhan: "Have I met her? Do I know her?"

Brennan: "Yeah, I think you know her."

Adaine: "She sucks. You're so much better than her. You remember those dancing teens? The horny dancing teens in the wood?"

Kristen: *nods* "That was her?"

Adaine: "I think she was probably one of them, yeah. ****, did she meet her in Fallinel when we were there? Did she?!"

Kristen tells Tracker that she's gonna be president! 😭✋

Tracker: "Yeah, that's sorta playful in a way that I'm not feeling right now."

Kristen: "Ooh! Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah, I was completely honest, I'm having an awful night. And so tonight's not really the night to give you a really honest answer about our relationship." 😭✋ (The voice crack on the "I'm Sorry" made it sound kinda insincere! I'm crying so hard fr! 😭✋)

Tracker: "Great, okay."

Kristen: "Is that all you wanted to ask? If you could post about your girlfriend?"

Tracker: "Yeah." (THE FACE BRENNAN MAKES! 😭✋ YELLING CRYING SOBBING! 😭✋)

Kristen: "Okay."

Tracker: "Yeah."

Kristen: "I think you should just do it, and I'll figure out a way with the tools that I have, which are throwing myself into this campaign and talking to Jawbone as much as possible."

Lou's reaction and the way he laughs during this is concerning me 😂😂💀💀

Tracker: "Okay. Well-"

Kristen: "Can I ask you a question?"

Tracker: "Yeah, yeah."

Kristen: "Your church is thriving. You're doing so good."

Tracker: "Yeah."

Kristen: "And mine is really, really bad. So bad. How did you pick the moon, and do you ever think about just dropping it and starting a whole new thing that you kinda made up yourself?"

Tracker: "Look, there were a lot of things about how you chose to be a cleric that I wouldn't have said while we were together, because we were together and I wanted to be supportive. And I'm not gonna say them now, when you're really low. But probably some of the stuff you need to hear is gonna be not that fun to hear. Yeah, my church is thriving, and I've never thought about abandoning Galicaea. We're changing the nature of how people relate to this goddess, and if I didn't do it, she would be the version you saw in the nightmare forest forever. She deserves people that understand her as she once was and as she can be again. And frankly, it's thriving now, but it wasn't four months ago. And there were hard, hard parts and there's still a long ******* way to go. And frankly, Kristen, I don't think you've ever dealt with Helio. You were like, yeah, this is ******** and I'm leaving, but you never grappled with the parts of it that ******* worked for you. You were chosen. All you had to do was do the **** everybody always said you were gonna do. And then you wandered out into the wilderness where you had to make meaning for yourself, and the truth is, Kristen, as much as you 'like the idea of making meaning,' you don't wanna do it 'cause it's hard."

Kristen: "Yeah, my work ethic's been bad. But Helio was so annoying."

Tracker: "You leaving Helio was the right choice for you, but the issue is, you wanted something Helio-shaped. You wanted something where the engine was already running and all the machinery was there, and you could just step in and have a waiting flock ready to raise their hands up and say, 'This is the chosen one.' And then you made a god out of block letters, and it died on the day you made it."

Kristen: "Wow."

Tracker: "That's true! It's ****** up!"

Kristen: "Wow."

Tracker: "I don't even know if you could go find another god. Your last two gods died!"

Kristen: "I..." *laughs* "Okay, I just-"

Tracker: "You know how rare it is for a god to die?"

Kristen: "Yeah."

Tracker: "Your last two! In high school!"

Kristen: "Maybe she had a shrimp allergy. You don't ******* know!" 😭😭✋✋

Brennan's laugh! And then Murph and Lou's reactions! 😭😭✋✋

This whole interaction made me AN ABSOLUTE MESS!!! 😭😭✋✋
